Hey there, I'd like to have access to the Storyteller forum again, if that is possible. I want to get some things cleared for Helldiver before I continue the story.

  Downtime at the Avengers Tower
Posted by: Isabelle - 01-10-2017, 07:04 PM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (5)

Frisk was sprawled out on the bed again. She would do this often back home, it was a good way to decompress after a long day of learning snail science at school, but today she had something far more heavy on her mind.

“Frisk, would you like to help me with the cleaning?” Ask Toriel from the other room.

“We have robots for that, mom.” Said the little one, a hint of indignation in her voice.

The goat mother was quick to pick on Frisk’s tone. She made her way into her room and shared a concerned look.

“Are you okay, Frisk? You seem in a bad mood.” She asked.

She gave out an audible sigh before turning to her side, crumpling the finely made bed sheets as she rolled to face her mom. Her effort was fairly fruitless as the shut eyes really worked against whatever connection she was trying to gain.

“I’m worried about the cultists.” She said. “They were bad people, but they didn’t deserve to have Skynet dropped on their heads like that.”

Torial dropped her broom and stepped across the tower floors. She sat down on the bed next to the young one.

‘Look at the bright side, at least that young woman won’t be harassed anymore.“

Frisk groaned as she rolled to plant her face into the bed spread. Toriel must have missed the part where that woman was a serial cannibal, she wouldn’t have wanted a happy ending for her if she had knew that information.

The goat mother, noticing her daughter lack of change in attitude, grabbed her by the shoulders, rolled her until she was face up, and sat her up straight.

“Frisk, listen to me, you couldn’t save them.” She began, looking Frisk into where her eyes would be. “Nothing you could have done would have saved them, so stop wasting your emotions on them! They aren’t worth it!”

The little one couldn’t hold it in anymore, tears started flowing out of her shut eyes. When she didn’t see any change in her mother’s expression, she quickly change to a heavy sob. Toriel pulled Frisk in close, making her cry into her chest as she reached around to pat her on the back.

“Let it all out, my child.”

For whatever reason, at that moment, Frisk couldn’t help but be reminded of Asriel. She dared not think about him too thoroughly for fear of bringing him to the Omniverse, but as her tears slowed, she couldn’t help think about her one greatest failure, the one she couldn’t save. What would mom say if she knew what happened to him...

  Switching: Sabrina => Undyne
Posted by: Undyne - 01-10-2017, 02:43 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (9)

Myep, Sabrina has to go... she may possibly return some day, but yeah.

Character name: Undyne

Character source: Undertale

Character history:
Short version: Undyne is taken to the Omniverse about a day after the endings of the True Pacifist Route, having left the underground and come to live on the surface with Alphys.

Long story below.
Pre-Game Events
Prior to the arrival of Frisk, Undyne was born and grew up in New Home, the enormous region beneath Mt. Ebott where the Kingdom of Monsters lived. As a kid she once challenged the Monster King, Asgore, to a fight but could not land a single blow and found herself humiliated as all he did was dodge her attacks without fighting back. Asgore offered to train her after the fight and eventually promoted her to Head of the Royal Guard, which among others entailed the duty of pursuing and killing the humans that fell into the Underground.

Waterfall Region
After Frisk befriended Papyrus and entered the Waterfall region Undyne began her pursuit, despite Papyrus attempting to convince her not to attack the human. Eventually she confronted her at the entrance to Hotland and attacked her. Frisk proved tenacious however and fled the scene, to which Undyne gave chase into Hotland and eventually collapsed because her armor heated up. Frisk poured water over her, bringing her back to her senses. Confused and frustrated, she withdrew to Waterfall.

Undyne and Frisk's Hangout
But was that her last meeting with the human? Far from it. At Papyrus's suggestion, Frisk came to Undyne's house to hang out with her, much to her anger - had she come to rub her victory in? No... she wanted to become FRIENDS with her. She was about to kick Frisk out when Papyrus presented "becoming friends with Frisk" as a challenge, and her hot-headedness made her turn around. They were not just going to be friends. They were going to be BESTIES.
Long story short, the hangout started pretty decent but when Undyne remembered that Papyrus, who had bailed, was going to have his cooking lesson but wasn't there, Frisk was going to have it for him, it turned into a disaster (It ended up with Undyne's house burning down), but in spite of it all Frisk convinced Undyne that she could not fight her... and Undyne ended up accepting her as a friend, as she went to live in Sans's and Papyrus's house for a while.

Undyne and Alphys
A while after their hangout Undyne asked Frisk to deliver a letter to Alphys, in Hotland. Though there was a great many misunderstanding with Alphys believing that the love-letter came from Frisk because Undyne had not signed it, but after Alphys expressed her feelings about Undyne to Frisk and the fish-woman was nearby, searching for Alphys, heard everything. She was much happier about this than she openly admitted and thanked Frisk. While the human went to confront Asgore, Undyne met Alphys and they confessed their feelings to each other.

The last battle
Undyne was one of the many who interrupted the battle between Frisk and Asgore and demanded that they befriend each other. She nearly kissed Alphys that time, but was interrupted by Toriel, and later Flowey who ensnared them and sucked out their souls. She blanked out until her soul was returned to her and found that, during the blankout, the barrier imprisoning the Monsters in the Underground had been broken.
Being allowed to go free and with no further need to attack humans, the Royal Guard was disbanded, leaving Undyne free to go watch anime with Alphys. Having gotten out in the morning meant that they had the entire day to explore this new world, loving every second of it. The entirety of the one day of time that was allocated to them both.

After making the most out of her first day on the Surface they went to sleep, and Undyne woke up not to the sight of a new morning, but in a black void with a white being grinning at her. His name was Omni, and this was not the world she knew.

Wearing her heavy armor, giving her a dark, evil appearance. She may also wear this armor without her helmet.
Undyne can either wear this armor by putting it on the regular way or alternatively put it on by summoning it in an unnecessarily dramatic way (such as by vanishing in a flash of light for a few seconds or having a lightning bolt hit her out of clear skies and emerging with the armor on).

Starting Moves: (1500)

Magic Spear (900) (Physical Strength, Ranged Proficiency)
Undyne wields her magic weapon, the Magic Spear (she usually calls it "Spear", or sometimes "Spear of Justice" because anime), to attack her opponent. She can make one appear into her hand by holding it out for ~2 seconds and with minimal energy expenditure (she could summon 30-35 before becoming too exhausted and needing to catch her breath). She is also able to move freely while summoning a spear but due to the required focus cannot use other moves at the same time.
Undyne has two types of spears. Both types are made out of blue magic energy and are thus not quite as resilient as a metal spear, but can take two or three good hits before disintegrating into magic dust.
Undyne's "short" spear is 1,10m long (including the tip) and has a leaf-shaped speartip of about 15cm, with a pointy tip and sharp edges. Undyne is able to throw it up to 100m far, as it is much lighter than a metal spear, with initial speeds of ~150km/h (about the speed of spears thrown in spearthrowing sports).
If it is thrown the spear disintegrates shortly after hitting an opponent, an obstacle or the ground. Because it is so light its damage is slightly sub-par compared to regular thrown spears.
Undyne can also wield the "short" spears for melee combat, using them for stabbing or slashing attacks. Because they are wielded with one hand she is also able to dual-wield them.
The second spear, called "long" spear, is 1,80m long and with a 20cm speartip and can only be dual-wielded and used for melee combat. It's a more unwieldy weapon in close quarters compared to her "short" spear but has a greater reach when stabbing and slashing.
Trick Spear (300) (Ranged Proficiency, Ranged Materialize Proficiency)
Undyne summons a spear that looks like her "short" Justice Spears (110cm long, of which ca. 15cm is the tip), in the air around her rather than into her hand. Summoning one this way requires ca. 3 seconds of concentration during which she can continue to move but not use other moves, and is more tiring than a regular summoning (5-6 summons in a row before she needs to recover), with the maximum distance from herself at which she can summon a spear being 50m, and at least 10m away from her target. Undyne must also be able to see her target (non-suppressed Enhanced Senses count) and the location which she is summoning her spear at.
The spear floats in the air until fully summoned then flies in the direction that it is pointing at as if thrown (~150 km/h). Undyne can only summon one Trick Spear at a time and is not able to "hold" them in the air after fully summoning them - they will start flying immediately.
The move is designed to hit an opponent from the sides, above or even behind rather than from the front, with the weakness that the spear's flight direction is set the moment that it is fully summoned - usually where her enemy is standing. Once it is in flight Undyne cannot change its trajectory, making it relatively hard to hit an opponent that moves around.
Green Soul Mode (300) (Physical Strength, Debuff Proficiency)
Undyne needs to have a Justice Spear in hand to be able to use this attack. She charges it with a vast amount of glowy green magic, taking ~3 seconds during which she cannot move or use other moves and a good chunk of her stamina (casting it twice in a row would leave her dizzy and exhausted, needing to catch her breath), then when the opportunity presents itself swings the spear at her opponent (until that point it remains ready to attack with energy as long as is needed, with minimal energy drain for upkeep).
The green energy not only makes the spear transcendent, meaning that it swings through an opponent's body without causing physical harm, but as they are hit it forces them into "Green Soul Mode", or "Duel Mode". This debuff lasts for ~10 seconds, during which an opponent is unable to move at more than a walking pace, though they can still freely move all their legs. Super Speed/Burst Movement, Teleportation etc. all continue to work based on the user's "real" Speed, not the debuffed one.
Green Soul Mode also causes Undyne to be debuffed in the same way and for the same time as it's meant to force her opponent into a fight, by rendering them unable to flee.
Opponents in Green Soul Mode can break out of the debuff as early as after 5 seconds if their combined DEF and TEC matches or surpasses Undyne's, by brute-forcing through the effect for one second. If the debuff is broken early this way Undyne is also freed from it.
After Green Soul Mode wears off Undyne cannot apply it to the same opponent again for at least one minute.

Possible Bonus OM Request Thread replacement
Posted by: Crocodile - 01-09-2017, 10:18 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (8)

I had a thought. I think it might help with the... work involved in graded threads for Bonus OM.

Next to every post, the account name has a "Reputation" counter. You can use this to give a positive review of a post, yeah? But not for your own posts. Just for others.

I was thinking it might be simpler to just give out OM to people when their posts get a positive review. Making it a flat rate would save counting words, and a Staff Member could give a Neutral review on the character when the OM was updated (assuming we couldn't get an automated system for it).

I hope that wasn't confusing... I'm not feeling particularly articulate right now. Just wanted to air this out and see what other folks thought.

  Descent into Darkness
Posted by: James Knight - 01-09-2017, 08:29 PM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (23)

Coruscant had been next to useless for the Dark King of the Crystal Empire. Hours ago he had exited the gate. The more he thought about what he had done in Coruscant which amounted to nearly getting himself ran over,  the more he had to admit he wasn't pleased to say the least. His power was lacking, but how was he supposed to make it stronger? Most of his more potent spells had been ripped from him by Omni. The douchebag had been probably amusing himself with laughing at the pain of Sombra. The battle against the Bandits in the Endless Dunes hadn't been pleasant and that was the least of his problems. Admittedly the date with Dead Pool had been problematic, but he'd crushed that problem. Still he knew he had a long way to go before he could call himself powerful.

"My power must be truly worthless, if something like a futuristic city was able to immobilize me. As I am now, I stand no chance of victory and couldn't survive. My life depends on me getting stronger, but how am I supposed to go about it?"

The Dark King tried to use his dark magic to make a mirror, but to no avail. He still was learning how to use his power on small scales. Building his castle had been easy. But for him? This was something that was a mite bit harder than he had initially anticipated. Just how was he going to get strong enough to pose a threat to anyone he came across? Well he was going to try to regain the spells he had. Sure he had useful ones now, but ultimately? They weren't going to be enough to serve his purposes, and that made the dark overlord angry.

  Here's a Question for you

If you're going to rewrite a char, but it shares the same name although the abilities change, and the character changes somewhat because of additional personalities, and what not, what's the rule on that? I want to know before I begin to do that with Sombra.

Figured with the group we got in there now, we might need one of these. Normal rules apply, I suppose. Call when you're going to post, but try to keep it in order so no one has to catch up on like 20 posts to do their own.

Obviously, if your character would immediately react to something in the last post, no one is gonna fault ya for going ahead.

I just posted a thing. I hope I didn't suck at doing people.

  Two Idiots and a Deathwish
Posted by: Kuzuru - 01-09-2017, 02:53 AM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (12)

“What do you mean you don’t tip?” Mallory asked.

Charles groaned and reached for the inner pocket of his trench coat. His thick and calloused fingers removed a long and fat cigar. With his free hand he flicked open his zippo lighter and ignited the tip of the stogie. It was a smooth and mellow hit with a hint of cherry flavoring. Mallory raised an eyebrow and asked his question once again. Charles exhaled a cloud of acrid smoke, which hung heavy over the remains of their lunch. “I don’t tip,” Charles answered, his voice was low and aggressive, like a diesel engine.

“Well yeah, but why?” his companion asked, throwing his hands out in disbelief.

Around them the rest of the diner pulsed with life. They were in the heart of Coruscant were even a smoky hole-in-wall diner was bustling with business. It was a melting pot of creatures, humans, and other alien beings. Gang-bangers mixed with suburbanites. Tourists who had delved deeper than they were prepared for sat guarded and uneasy. This cluttered chaos was where the two bounty hunters felt at home. Their server, who was a young human girl, sashayed past their table and dropped off their bill.

“Why do I need to tip her for doing her job?” Charles proposed.

“How else is she supposed to make a living?”

“Get a different job,” Charles answered, took another drag of his cigar, and added, “at any rate it ain’t my problem, it isn’t.”

Mallory rolled his eyes and grabbed their bill. He tapped his finger against that table as he performed some mental arithmetic to calculate how much they both needed to tip. After a few seconds he produced a few credits from his wallet and sat them, along with the bill, on the edge of the table. “Alright,” he said,”pony up five credits.”

“For what?”

“For a tip jackass,” Mal said and pointed a finger at his partner, “I’m not going to let you weasel out of this.”

Charles growled and released another cloud of cherry-flavored smoke. He shifted the cigar around in his mouth. “I said,” Charlie leaned closer to Mallory, “I don’t tip.” The two locked eyes for a full minute. This wasn’t the first time they had this conversation, and it more than likely wouldn’t be the last time. Mallory sighed. There was no arguing with the man He tossed a few more credits onto the table and stood up. “Whatever Charlie,” Mal said and nodded towards the door, “let’s get going, we’ve got a job to do.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Charles said and took one last drag from his cigar. He flicked the ash off into a half-empty glass of water and then extinguished it by mashing the end against the table. Then, while Mal had his back turned, he pocketed the credits intended as a tip.

Outside the duo squinted as they were bombarded with bright flashing advertisements. It was like stepping onto the set of the world’s most aggressive commercial. Coruscant’s fourth tier was less of a place to live and more like a massive marketplace. Street vendors and shady market booths littered the streets. Nothing was sacred here. Drugs, guns, and sex were sold openly on the streets of tier four. If one had the cash, and a loose set of morals, they could buy just about anything.

  A Creeper in Coruscant
Posted by: Cupa - 01-08-2017, 10:57 PM - Forum: Coruscant - No Replies

After about a two our walk or so, I found myself standing in front of an archway, with a number of men wearing some kind of white armor on either side. They didn’t say anything when I approached them, and they made no motion to stop me from walking through the archway. Walking through, I felt dizzy for a slight moment, but it soon cleared as I walked out of the other side. I found myself in what appeared to be a giant futuristic city, and was quickly made subject to a screening process of some kind.

Once the men in white had passed me through the screening process, I was given back all of my items, not that there were that many to begin with, and warned me to stay out of trouble during my visit. I told him I would, thanked him, and walked out into the city, which I was told was Coruscant.

Coruscant was a gorgeous city, and was filled with things I had never seen before in my life. Pictures that moved on walls and talked, objects the size of horses flying through the sky, and people everywhere. There seemed to be a large amount of soldiers in white, who I learned were called stormtroopers. I found a taxi, and after being told I would have to pay for it, I asked to see what the currency was. He pulled out some, and within a few minutes, I had copied it using Omnillium.

The man’s face was not a happy one, and instead appeared to be one of disgust, but he accepted the money anyway. As he flew around coruscant, I saw a large amount of parks and statues, all dedicated to someone that was only referred to as “The Emperor”. I did not know who this man was, and I got the feeling that I didn’t want to. The entire place seemed as though it was controlled with an Iron fist from someone, hence the heavy presence of guards, and the way nobody ever seem to have anything bad to say about the emperor.

A few hours into my visit, I found myself near a rather large library. I decided to explore inside, and found a large amount of books, and some things that looked like a device that would connect to the internet, or some version of it at least. I tried to think how I knew that, as I had never seen the device or any like it before. I seem to remember someone telling me about it, but the memory was blurry and faded as if it had happened a lifetime ago.

Regardless, I used it to figure out what was going on with me and where I was. I discovered that I was something called a “Prime”, meaning that I had been brought to here, the Omniverse, by the essential God of this place, the smiling figure that called himself Omni.

I learned about the different verses, and the different factions in them, as well as how different factions felt about each other. I learned the history of the Omniverse, and what had happened in years before I had gotten here. I decided that I wanted to explore the world I had been brought to before settling down in a particular verse or with a particular faction.

Looking through some information about Coruscant, I learned that it had seven tiers, with the tier I was on being the first tier. I decided to explore the different tiers a little since I was already here, before moving on to another verse to explore. Heading to an elevator, I rode down to tier three, to see what it was like further down.

Not exactly what I had expected, yet not exactly unexpected either I have to say. Tier three was far grungier than Tier one, but it wasn't exactly bad either. It appeared as though the Empire still had a good amount of influence here, and that it actually cared a little about tier three. There was a far smaller police force out on the streets, but still enough that it reminded you were there, and that they wouldn't hesitate to take you down. Just out of curiosity, I summoned a block of TNT. I was amazed to see that it only took a second to summon, as everything I had read told me that summoning was a lengthy process, usually taking up to a few minutes to perform. I broke the block back down, not wanting to alert the police force that walked the streets to my ability to destroy.

I wandered around the tier a little longer, looking at the beautiful city, before taking another elevator down a tier. I found myself on tier four, and was immediately met with a large amount of signs with glowing words, all trying to advertise for some product or another. These signs were a major source of light, as the sky was a pitch black color now, as opposed to the bright blue of the higher tiers. Just wandering through and overhearing conversations told me that this was not a place I wanted to stay in, nor did I want to go any further down the tiers. I took an elevator back up to tier one. Using a map that I had picked up at the beginning of my journey, I found the gate back to the Nexus, and left to go explore another verse.

  WPM test!

We're all writers here, but the question is: Just how fast are you? If you are not fluent with acronyms, WPM stands for 'Words Per Minute' which gauges how quickly a person can write. I found a website that is decent at scoring your writing speed, so let us see who is the fastest and most accurate of us all!

For sake of fairness, the test parameters require you to choose your test. Choose English, for 1 minute on the test "The fox without a tail." This way everything everyone has written will be the same for the same amount of time. If you wanna participate, you need to take a screen shot of your results and post them here.

Here are my results:

Good luck!
