SoSV Disbanded

I'm am deeply sorry for anyone planning to deal with SoSV or that wanted to join us, but with recently Mumm-Ra switching and Chara backing out of the Assualt, The Society just doesn't have the backbone to continue in my opinion there are not enough villains to recruit others so I am disbanding the Society and switching Scarecrow I'm deeply sorry to those who wanted to work with us and do some of those  really cool story arcs I planned out. Do not worry though Scarecrow might one day return with a few of my ideas.

Alternate Character for Miranda Frost

Character name: Serraph Quarrere

Character source: OC, Bleach

Character history:
Serraph Quarrere was born in 1935 in London. As a young boy he spent his time down by the local library, diving his mind into the depths of its oldest tomes. There was nothing he didn't want to know. No knowledge was trivial to him. By the time the second world war broke out, he had became the librarian's assistant, responsible for fetching, returning, and organizing the vast collection of books that dwell there. There were some books he was forbidden to read however, but not entirely kept from doing so. Despite his longing to do so, he obeyed his superior. However when the bombs fell upon London, he saw this as a chance to take the slightest peek inside these banned texts while everyone else seemed to flee to the shelters. As he pulled the thick, dust covered scripture from the shelf a nearby detonation caused the tall bookshelf collapse atop of him, ending his life as a human forever.

His spirit however simply couldn't move on, bound to the library ruins he remained until his own chains tore his heart, his love apart as the once grand library was remade into something entirely. At first rage was the trigger of this transformation, Giving him a rather beastly form for a Hollowified soul, but his hunger was targeted less on those who destroyed his death-place, but those who became sources of knowledge for mankind. For a century he spent his time kidnapping a wide variety of people ranging from Historians, Scientists, to even sources of entertainment such as Poets or Scriptwriters. To Hueco Mundo he'd steal them, gleaning every morsel of knowledge from their dying bodies before devouring them. His tastes grew more and more broad. Nothing was safe. Other Hollows became targets, sparking his evolution to among the Menos Grande. His time as an Gillian was more of a feeding frenzy than gathering of knowledge but in the end his personality would gain control, transforming him into the less numerous Adjuchas. In this form he regained his thirst for knowledge and curiosity for all things, but lost his knowledge of himself and everything up to that point. Such emptiness drove him forward until he was approached by the leader of the second Generation of Espada led by the former Third Espada, Tia Halibel.  Under her guidance and those she had collected so far, his transition from Hollow to Arrancar was rather simple.

Now as a more humanoid figure, he lost most of his hunger for the souls of the dead, allowing him to turn to his more curious side for satisfaction. But then again he could not be satisfied, as his Aspect of Death was Curiosity. Forever he would be curious, with each door opened he would encounter several more. His task as the Eighth Espada was to create, maintain, and guard Los Noches's, the Espada's base of operations, library. To this end, despite his lower rank among Tia's knights, he held the power to request acquisitions of various Human or even Shinigami texts to be brought home to Los Noches. This was the price of having a broad array of knowledge on hand. Those ranking outside the Espada however, could not decline his summons or missions.

He wasn't the most popular of the group, but Serraph, as he called himself now, forced them all in his own way to recognize his importance. After all without that recognition, he would be weeded out and destroyed by the stronger members. In the end, it would seem it was all in vain, as the smiling one would reach out with his almighty hand and pluck him from his library in los Noches... but... this wasn't so bad. In this new realm, he would recognize that this place held infinite possibilities, he'd just have to start looking.

Physical Description: (originals only)
Serraph Quarrere looks rather young considering his age. He appears to be in his late teens with a short height about 5'3". If one were to look at him the first color that comes to mind would most likely be white as he sports rather long white hair, grey eyes and pale skin. But this is to be expected given his composition. His skin is about as strong as paper, probably because his body is composed of layers upon layers of paper like materials. This is where he stores his knowledge, written in minuscule lines of text over the inside of his body. If one were to cut him, he does not bleed blood, but rather ink instead. His Hollow hole, a literal hole somewhere among the body symbolizing the hollowfied heart, is located upon his lower neck

hmmm Im thinking about bringing back my old character, but i need to know something first.

If I use Mimic to copy a move, does my character have to have the proficiency needed to actually use it during that confrontation? I know that if i were to choose to have it permanently then yes I would, but what if it was just for this instance?   As for super-moves would I be able to copy them as long as I could pay the sp cost to use?

  Let's Play Golden Sun
Posted by: ElFailzalot - 01-07-2017, 04:33 PM - Forum: The Arcade - Replies (4)

Otherwise known as "what the actual fuck are you doing, Adam?" Except not because I'm fairly sure no one would actually say that. But enough about hypotheticals about what my crushing self-loathing makes me imagine people might or might not be saying about me (AHAHAHAH SELF DEPRECATION FOR COMEDY ahahaha.....) let's get on to the meat of this whole thing, eh?
Note: May not be any actual meat. Apologies for my blatant lying.

Golden Sun was a fantasy RPG (Which is, for those wondering, of course a Role Playing Game, not a Rocket Propelled Grenade. That would be awfully hard to play.) released by Camelot Software Planning for the Game Boy Advance, as can be seen from the lovely image just above, on August 1, 2001 in Japan, with the subtitle "The Broken Seal", which was apparently lost or just dropped altogether in translation. It was later released on November 11, 2001, in North America and yet later, on February 22, 2002, in Europe. It was fairly well received, getting universally high scores and appreciation at the time of its release (Indeed, it scored very impressively, with scores ranging from as 'low' as 8.5/10 to as high as a 9.7/10 and several other rankings within that range.) It sold well enough, for its time, moving over a million units worldwide (Approximately 740,000 copies in the United States and approximately 338,000 in Japan, as general figures.)

Golden Sun had an unusually long development time for a handheld game, lasting somewhere between 12 to 18 months. This may be because this game, and its sequel, Golden Sun: The Lost Age (Released only a year after this game was.) were originally intended to be one, much larger, game. Development originally began with design documents and very early planning to release the game on the Nintendo 64 console, but that all changed when it became apparent that the Nintendo Gamecube would soon enough be superseding the N64, their focus shifted to developing it for the Game Boy Advance. Even at this point, Golden Sun was still intended to be a single game, but due to hardware limitations of trying to put the game onto a single cartridge, this was eventually set aside to better realize the vision in mind for the game, and expanded to become two separate, connected games.

That's great and all, but...why should I care?
Short answer: you shouldn't.

The game was great for its time, and is still respected to this day (heck it even got a re-release on the Nintendo Wii's virtual console in 2014!) but it isn't the shining example of joy and wonder it once was. It's aged, for lack of a better term. Does that mean it isn't still fun and delightful to play? Of course not! It's wonderful! But it's also kind of silly. Extremely silly.

Also none of that has much at all to do with the game itself. So let's put that aside for now, eh?

Okay, okay. So what's this all about?
I continue to thank you for asking questions that need to be answered, dear reader of non-determinate name and origin! What I am going to do is be playing through this here game (and eventually its sequel) in the form of what is known as a 'Screenshot LP'. That is, a Let's Play accompanied by images captured directly from the game, and with commentary (which may or may not, in fact, be witty!) from yours truly. I will be endeavoring to show off everything the game has to offer as I do so, and offer some insights into things which are just odd or silly (of which there are many) and do my best to explain things which the game glosses over. Important things will mostly be presented in screenshot format, but vital things (of which there are probably few) and boss battles now and then may get a video just to show off how they go.

As for the format of things...

Regular text will be serious notes about the game, transcribing events from the game, or narrating and describing things that happen.
Actual dialogue from characters will be in "quotation marks" to differentiate it.
Text in bold will be important announcements or specific things to note, to draw attention to itself.
Things in italics will be little additions of mine. Whether witty banter, sarcastic comments or just additions/minor changes to dialogue and events for the sake of (attempted) humor, it'll all be there. For better or worse.

I think I've played this game before...
Well hey, that's great! Then you can enjoy reminiscing with me. Or blame me for dredging up old memories. Either or. I won't judge you. :frogbon:

That said, though, if you have played this before, do make an effort to not mention too much about the game, won't you? Spoilers are bad, even for a 16 year old game, especially for those who haven't played/heard of it before. (If any of you exist and/or actually read this horrid abomination I am about to produce.) That said, do feel free to talk about the game, ask/answer questions about things that have already happened or which you think might happen. Now and then, when there's some choices to be made (of which there are a couple) I might leave it open to let people decide the whimsy of fate and in which order I tackle things, but thaaaat remains to be seen.

Sounds like it...it's gonna be something, I guess.
Something is indeed what it will be. Whether it will be something good, something bad, or just something that exists...well. Only time will tell!

So let's get on with this shindig!

Chapter 0: The Intro
[Image: Golden%20Sun%201.png]

Classic Nintendo title screen. It pops up as soon as the game starts, with that delightful little ding sound we all know and experience in our nightmares.

Camelot Software Planning. King Arthur's done good for himself, to have a (somewhat) successful software and game development company. He sure adapted well to the modern era, eh?

And there it is. The title screen. Take a look at it. Behold it. Bask in it. Oh, and also.

The title theme. That is some majestic ass title music. Sure does set the tone of the game to come!

.....oh, if only.

And from the title screen, we go straight to the name input screen. That's right, you need to actually play the game and save it first to even go to the main menu and get the usual 'New Game' or 'Continue' or 'Options' and such. It's kind of bizarre, but okay. Camelot knows what they're doing, I guess.

And here we are, at the name input screen. It's kind of neat, that even in this name input screen, you get to hear the Main Menu music, even on your first run of the game when you don't actually go to the main menu.

It's...kinda of soothing and peaceful. Or at least it is to me. Ah, well. NAME INPUT. And that means actual choices ALREADY. GASP.

Like with many games of the time, we have access to 8 spaces for inputting names. Capital letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and even some punctuation. It's pretty neat, even if it is pretty standard. So let's see what we're dealing with here.

In the image above, we have the chance to input the name for our main character of this game. His default name is Isaac. In the Japanese version of the game, his default name is Robin. He will be our silent protagonist (barring when I provide some 'witty' inner commentary for him), and is generally a decent fella.

Now, normally, you're only allowed to name the main character. But with some shenaniganry involving secret codes, you can rename the rest of your party, too! And with further shenaniganry, you can even name some other characters of marginal or substantial importance to the plot! Let's see who we've got here.

Here's this fella. His default name is Garet. In the Japanese version, his default name is Gerald.  He does things. He may or may not be too bright.  But he's cool. Or not. You'll see!

Then we got this guy here. His default name is Ivan. In the Japanese version, his default name is Iwan. He's pretty chill. And kinda spooky, but he's generally another pretty alright dude.

Up next, we got this girl. She's pretty dang cool. (HAHAHAHAHAHA) Her default name is Mia. In the Japanese version, her default name is Mary. She's a bit of an...interesting one, I'll say. But not saying much just yet.

Then we got this dude over here, who is not part of our party. His default name is Felix. In the Japanese version, his default name is Garcia. I dunno. He's just kinda there or something. WHATEVER.

Then we got this girl. She's something else. Her default name is Jenna. In the Japanese version, her default name is Jasmine. She is ALSO not a part of our party! Except I may be a liar WE'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE.

And then we got...this girl. She's also kinda out there. And maybe a little spooky. Them eyes, yo. Her default name is Sheba. In the Japanese version, her default name is Shiba.

And that's where we leave off for now. Yes, before we even get started, I know. If you are of a mind to care about such things, feel free to vote on the regular or japanese names for the characters here, or suggest ones of your own, within the 8 character limit. Ones that get the most votes will be the ones I go with, or just the default english ones if no one gets any votes, or if there's a tie or some such.

No real timeframe, as this'll be updated whenever I have the time. Probably (read as: hopefully) at least once every week or two, with any luck. But we'll see!
Rainbow Painting with Luci
Posted by: Luci - 01-07-2017, 02:38 AM - Forum: The Astral Realm - Replies (11)

On a wall in a dream, Luci is painting.

The sparkling multicolored fumes of her spray-paint can drift down the street. They smell of vanilla and honeysuckle and lilac, and a warm fuzzy haze settles over your mind.

Luci is breathing heavily as she works, using broad strokes to paint abstract shapes in psychedelic colors that swirl and glow on the wall. At the center, a beautiful pair of eyes with pupils of the most brilliant gold you've never seen is staring at you.

Luci turns around and smiles at you over her shoulder. The pair of eyes she painted blink unnervingly in time with her own. She slides her backpack full of spray-paint cans over to you.

"Hey," she says genially. "I'm Luci, grab a can."

Quote:Is your character currently asleep, unconscious, or purposefully traveling the Astral Plane? Come paint some stuff with Luci. This a strictly non-pvp zone, you signed up for it when you huffed my spray fumes.

  Papyrus Awakens
Posted by: Kyle Crane - 01-07-2017, 12:36 AM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

In one minute, Papyrus went from his home in Snowdin, to a black void. Then, it was replaced with basic knowledge of things, and a blank canvas. He's standing in a fountain, with tall trees around it. The trees are covered with snow, resembling the forests of Snowdin. He sits down at the base of the fountain, thinking. He looks around - he can see objects in the distance. He doubts he can reach them alone - then, he realizes; he has that Omnilium...stuff, that Omni gave him.

Perhaps, he can summon a vehicle, and get to the portal quicker.

With that, the skeleton begins to focus. Omnilium emerges, a glowing ball of all colors of the spectrum, and then begins to change shape. Eventually, this lump of the rainbow material forms into his old ride back at the Surface - a sleek, bright red convertible car. He smiles, opening the door and taking a seat in the driver's seat.

WELL...I HAVE NO IDEA WHICH ONE TO GO FOR!

Without a real sense of direction in the void of white, Papyrus starts up the car and takes off in a random direction, ready to see what this Omniverse has in store.

***

He arrives to find an archway, covered with bark and vines, surrounding a...Portal, of some sort. After a few seconds, Papyrus confirms he's at his destination, and steps out of the car. He's never been to a normal forest before - the closest thing to it was the small clusters of trees between Mt. Ebott and Frisk's hometown. He knows they must not compare to a real forest.

But he also knows there's only one way to find out.

He looks back at his car. Surely, it's not going to fit in the gate. So, what does he do with it?

HMM...IF I CAN CREATE THIS THING BY JUST FOCUSING...MAYBE I CAN ALSO...

With that, he begins to focus on the car again. In the same amount of time it took to summon the car, it reforms into the Omnilium it was made out of. He smiles, before turning back to the portal. Whatever he's gonna do, surely he's not gonna accomplish it out here.

Without another thought, he rushes into the portal, eager to explore what's on the other side.

  I Have An Idea
Posted by: Koal - 01-06-2017, 10:50 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (3)

So, I've had an idea for about a week or so, due to my planning out some stuff with Koal.

Banishment Collars: Slave Collars made to enslave primes

It basically works as a way for secondaries to gain control of a prime in a way, due to the fear of banishment that would be present in the prime (or maybe not.)

Still working some stuff out, actually a lot of things, but I wanted to know if this could be a feasible idea for me to use.

Stats:
ATK: 3 - Despite his cheery disposition, Papyrus is not to be underestimated in battle, as his attacks can be quite devastating.
DEF: 1 - Papyrus is quite physically weak. This can be attributed to his Monster biology.
SPD: 3 - Papyrus can act fairly quickly, though he's still not on par with most speed-focused individuals in the Omniverse.
TEC: 3 - Despite what one might assume, Papyrus is fairly skilled in combat.

Starting Proficiencies:

Ranged Attack Proficiency(1000)

Debuff Proficiency(600)

Bones - 600 OM(Requires Ranged Attack Proficiency)

Papyrus can summon femur bones from the ground while stationary, around 3 inches tall, and they're summoned up to a foot away from him instantaneously, though the move can be charged for 5 seconds to make the bones up to one foot tall, making them harder to avoid. In both forms, he can have up to 5 out at one time, each summoned individually, and the bones move forward about as fast as an arrow fired from a bow, sliding along the ground, up to a maximum range of 20 feet, at which point they fade away. These attacks are at moderate strength and drain a moderate amount of energy.

These attacks require full concentration to summon - though they can be sent out through a simple hand gesture - and cannot be used in conjunction with other moves unless said move outright states it.

In the end, these attacks can seem quite easy to avoid - especially if one has Flight, which makes avoiding Papyrus' attacks nearly effortless. However...

Blue Attack - 600 OM Tier 1 Super Utility(Requires Ranged Attack Proficiency, Debuff Proficiency)

"READY FOR MY BLUE ATTACK?"

When a battle is beginning to look bleak, Papyrus pulls this ability out. He charges the attack for 2 seconds, and then a projectile, appearing to be a blue heart, fires out at the opponent, as Papyrus warns him about this attack. If the opponent does not attempt to defend against the attack through use of a Super Move, the heart will strike. At first, it seems to have no real effect, apart from turning blue - however, they will find themselves slowed down to 80% speed(20% speed decrease), and their jump height lowered by a similar amount. If one has Flight, once they stop focusing on keeping themselves in the air, they will fall, though falls caused by Blue Attack are "cushioned."

This effect lasts for 2 minutes.
