  Twlight of the Sith
Posted by: Darth Vader - 01-08-2017, 02:11 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

"OPEN FIRE!"

In an instant, all blasters in the room were trained onto the looming, black-clad figure standing tall at the corridor's end - the sound of his robotic, raspy breathing soon replaced by the abrupt screeches of blaster shots and gunfire as the rebel soldiers began to shoot all in union; every shot, every gun was aimed in the direction of the Imperial Enforcer.

Crimson lightsaber already activated and drawn out into his hand, Darth Vader twirled the sabre in his hands, utilising the weapon to deflect the waves of blaster beams that we being flung his way. He was fortunate enough that a few rogue beams that he deflected bounced-back and struck more than a couple of rebel soldiers, instantly rendering them lifeless as they collapsed limply to the floor. Vader began to make his way toward his opposition, black-boots triggering echoes across the cramped, compact corridor with every stride he made upon his opposition. Outstretching a robotic-hand, Vader used the force to deflect one of the beams with only his palm, and then raised the rebel trooper nearest to him up in the air, the soldier's whole body writhing and squirming as he entered a non-consensual position of levitation. Vader's arm turned, fist clenching tight; the soldier's neck snapped almost instantaneously, and Vader thrusted his hand rightways, smashing the rebel's corpse against the ship's wall and finally letting his body drop to the ground.

Vader's iconic breathing grew faster paced and louder as his wroth grew and boiled - every rebel soldier before him was felled as he drew close, cutting them down with his lightsaber swiftly and effortlessly. The Sith Lord's prime target - the rebel soldier clutching on to the Death Star's data tapes - suddenly turned heel and sprinted for the blast door at the hallway's end, tossing his blaster aside; he realised what he needed to do in order to secure victory and triumph for the Alliance.

The soldier shoved his arm through a narrow gap in the door, offering over the data tapes to his comrade on the other side.

"Take it! Take i-"

His exclamations were cut short by his shrill scream - Vader's lightsaber had found it's way nicely through his chest. The last thing he ever heard were the sounds of Vader's inhuman breathing coming from right behind him, and the last thing he ever felt was the intense, scorching pain as the Sith Lord ripped his blade from his chest.

The rebel soldier's behind the safety of the blast door immediately turned heel whilst they still could. Vader took some steps backward - the maimed corpses of a dozen rebel soldiers all littered around him - and outstretched his gloved hand once more. His charred eyes narrowed from behind his mask as he began to focus; it took only mere seconds for the blast door to slide open with a loud CHINK.

Vader swiftly began to march after the fleeing rebels, his lightsaber still activated and drawn. It hummed monotonously and ominously. As he walked, the surviving Stormtroopers that'd joined him as a boarding party marched up after their leader, blaster rifles cradled in their arms and boots stomping loudly and firmly as they walked.

As Vader and his soldiers reached the ships docking bay they paused - watching silently as a lone ship sped off into hyperspace in the distance...

Everything was silent. The only noise that filled the room at this point were the sharp, intrusive breaths of Lord Vader as he stared off after this ship. He silently deactivated his lightsaber, clipping it back to his belt as his gloved fist began to ball up by instinct.

He'd... failed. The rebel's had fled - the plans of the Death Star, the Empire's most valued weapon of mass destruction and carnage, the project that he and his master had been overseeing for two whole decades now, gone with them. Once the Alliance had viewed those tapes, unlocked every one of it's secrets... they'd know how to destroy it, where to strike. And then the Empire that would one day belong to him would have no backbone, no weapon or tool with which to threaten their adversaries with.

Vader knew he had to follow that ship - steal the data-plans back before they could reach wherever they were going, and destroy anyone involved with all this in the process. He spun around to face his men, satin-cape swaying with his movements.

Vader opened his mouth to address his troopers, but... but... no words poured forth.

The Dark Lord of the Sith suddenly found himself growing weak. His vision grew blurry, his head span, and he felt like his cybernetic knees were ready to buckle at any given moment. None of the Stormtroopers were moving or budging and inch to come to his aid, nor asking if their lord was in stable health - it was almost as if the very concept of time itself had just stopped and frozen in on itself.

From behind his menacing mask, Darth Vader's eyes closed over... and everything faded to black.

December Monthly Accolades (Until January 19th)
Posted by: Dark Link - 01-08-2017, 06:52 AM - Forum: Bookkeeping Archive - Replies (17)

We have finally bid farewell to 2016. But now that the festivities are behind us, we have one more obligation; determine the final Monthly Accolades for the past year!

For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.

You have until January 14th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:

(07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum.  In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse. This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for Story Aides and Story Guides, so for all intents and purposes, winning an accolade lets you become a pseudo-Story Aide for the duration of your reign.

Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.

And now for this month's categories:

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?

Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.

Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)

'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining? (For the sake of giving smaller threads a chance to shine, Dante's Abyss is automatically excluded from the running)

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.

Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; the November winner was Scarecrow (now Hellboy))

2016 Achievement Award (x2) - No end of the year accolades would be complete without at least one category dedicated to the entire year. So here we have not one, but two awards to give out. Which two members do you feel had the most positive impact on the Omniverse in 2016, whether IC or OOC?

  [Great] New, Flammable Places
Posted by: King Ghidorah - 01-08-2017, 03:24 AM - Forum: Camelot - Replies (7)

The warble of my own laughter is still ringing in my ears when I step out of the echoing emptiness of that hellish alabaster expanse and into the piercing glow of a glorious noonday sun, shining in a cloudless sky. I'm standing on a high hill, upon moist, rich soil. A forest is nearby, with some rock outcroppings poking above the treetops. I only recognize the bizarrely enlarged plants because of my elevation, which gives me something closer to my accustomed perspective - walking through such places, surrounded by trees that are many times my size, is an experience I don't look forward to at all.

Setting them alight is another matter. I've always liked the smell of burning vegetation. Or burning living things in general, really.

On the horizon, I see a snow-capped mountain-range, hazy from distance. Between here and there are lakes, streams, rivers, forests, and vast fields of grass (The fact that there's a word for grass is astonishing. It's so small, thinking about it in my former incarnation would have been less than pointless). This world is so rich that it practically gleams like a jewel in the sun. When I've regained my proper form, ruining it will be a joy.

What really grabs my attention, though, is much closer to hand.

Arranged all around me are enormous, rectangular gray rocks, almost twice my height. They're piled on top of one another in sets of three, two stones standing on-end and a third laid across the top, forming mock-gateways of sorts, facing the real one. Spaced evenly, all together they form a circle of monoliths about a dozen meters across.

Someone clearly put a great deal of time and effort into this strange monument. It was probably expected to last for centuries.

Such a ridiculous, pointless ambition. It demands a delicious demonstration.

I bathe the stones in golden lightning, bolts of heat and force arcing from my fingertips and crackling from my jaws, laughing at the mad folly that put this absurd construction here in the first place. My power rips furrows in the soil, reducing tiny, green growing things to ashes. It strikes sparks from the monoliths, blasting red-hot shrapnel high into the air. Stray bolts hit the forest far below, cracking tree-trunks and setting undergrowth alight.

About a minute later, amidst air thick with dust and smoke, I stop blasting, and I stare, red-eyed and dumbfounded.

The stones are still standing. The're scarred and pitted, yes, blackened and ravaged by the force of my peerless astral charge. They glow red-hot, clicking as they cool, but they've barely moved. Only one of them is even cracked!

At my proper size I could have obliterated this place with a single stray bolt!

Shaking with fury at my own impotence, I stalk over to the nearest monolith, and I strike it as hard as I can with my palm. Other than a loud, meaty sound, this accomplishes nothing, so I curl my fingers around my thumb, making my first ever fist (such a lovely, functional word), and I do it again. Stone chips fly, and I bare my teeth in glee.

It takes me almost ten minutes of constant two-handed pounding to crack the accursed thing, and by the time it falls my hands are numb, but the apocalyptic snap! as it breaks may be one of the sweetest sounds I've ever heard. The grinding rumble as the pieces topple, taking the enormous stone the target of my anger was supporting with them, is even sweeter. I'm so entranced that I nearly fail to step out of the way.

When the capstone hits the ground, the entire hillside jumps, knocking me off my feet. In the ensuing stillness I feel something I've only felt once before: the horrible thrill of Fear. If I'd stepped back just a little bit slower, I know instinctively that I would have been seriously hurt.

A loathesome idea, but one I absolutely cannot ignore takes hold.

I'm vulnerable in this new form.  I'm going to have to be more careful.

Secondary Crew: Litten

Main Goals: To chase our dreams and find adventure. To have fun and enjoy our experiences with one another.

The following primes have shown interest in joining this faction recently. Whether or not they join is up to them, but I’d prefer to include them in this discussion just in case.

Related Topics:
The following topics relate to The Merry Pirates

Pre-Adventure

The Omniverse Arrival

Starting IC Goals:
Four things need to be accomplished before the Pseudo-Faction becomes a reality

1. Begin our Adventure by participating in the Dark Chip Saga.

2. Gather a crew of like-minded individuals.

3. Create our base, the Going Merry Armada

4. Come into contact with a representative from Ambrosia and align ourselves with them.

Starting OOC Goals:
Few things I want us to work on as a group.

1. Writing Partners: While we will be working together to form each other’s stories and adventures, not everyone writes at the same pace. So early on, I want to work on figuring out who writes the best together. We will still interact IC of course, but we don’t have to do it all the time. I want to make an efficient environment where we communicate openly and can write at a pace we are comfortable with without being pressured.
So please, use this topic to discuss your posting rate and who you’d like to adventure with. Remember, we can alternate partners.
Or you can go solo every now and then! That’s the plus of a factions, options! Big Grin

2. Player Satisfaction and Character Growth: I want all players to have stories to tell. I want all characters to have direction. As your leader, I will do my best to help you brainstorm, but I want all of us to work together to make this work. Anyone lost on where to go, please post in this topic with your ideas and we will help you get the best out of your role-playing.

Hay, I know that this may sound a bit annoying but is it all right if I can switch back to a character that I once got approved for but start fresh again. The reason why I was wanting to do this is because I do have some planned out moves and ect. on this kind plus for the slots I want on here to be consist of one good guy, one neutral guy, and one bad guy which I have realized I have two actual heroes.

the great skeleton and the forgotten child join forces

As Chara, walked through the portal she saw Papyrus a few feet away from the portal looking around. She then looked around to see trees that were probably a mile in height, a large plethora of plants and animals. As she walked forward she saw him turn towards her. "Hello human, I am the great papyrus what is your name." he held out a gloved hand

She then had a flashback, she was a ghost again and Frisk was engaging battle with Papyrus. she tried to block out the words papyrus said but it had little effect, at this point the skeleton had fallen in one hit. "I know you can do a little better; even if you don't think so" he turned to dust at that point.

She jolted back into reality, she was on the verge of tears, her arms were holding her, and she was rocking back and forth. "Are you ok human? I did not mean to scare you." She sniffed and got up. "im fine, my name is Chara, nice to meet you." She shook the hand and got up.

She then realized that it was hot and humid here; so she decided to spend a little more time at the gate summoning along sleeve shirt with the same pattern as the sweater and parka she had. Once it was summoned she took off the sweater and slipped on the long sleeved shirt before putting the sweater into the knapsack she had.

She then turned to Papyrus who was training by the looks of it with a bone, and asked "May I follow you, as I don't have anywhere really i'm heading to?"

As Chara exited the pale moor's gate she saw a streak of red cross the nexus. "What the heck is that?" She grabbed the pair of binoculars she created for the frozen fields expedition and looked at the red streak and saw it was in fact a red convertible sports car with a certain skeleton driving it quite proficiently.

"What? is that Papyrus, how long have I been gone?" She felt a slight twinge of regret, and hatred for how the monsters treated Frisk while they talked about her with almost hatred as she was considered the villain. "I have a new life to look forward to; I don't want to be the bad guy anymore!"

she started to scream and shout that frisk would make shure that they would tell everyone what they did. they kicked off for the tangled green. they would make amends with people.
