Hi, Omniverse, how you doin'? Been a while -- work has been pretty awful since I got break from what was actually a very relaxing Winter Break. Had to organize a science fair team at the last minute, have to grade dozens of papers before the grade deadline... got a job evaluation next week and the follow up the week after... real life is hard. At least I can file my taxes in the next week or so, once I get my 1098-t form from grad school.
Anyway. Over break and in the intermittent periods of free time, I was able to get my manuscript to a spot where I wanted it to be. After receiving the help of a great artist, I had a piece of cover art and was good to go. I submitted my stuff to Kindle Scout, which is an online platform where new authors can be published digitally and, well, you know -- get paid for it.
I don't often pander to social media/the internet in general, but I'm 100% certain that this is a platform where you must pander and word-of-mouth to be successful. Plus, we're talking like, one of my dreams here, so heck yes I'mma ask for all the help I can get.
So I'm asking for anyone out there with an Amazon account to go an nominate my work to be published. You can go read the first 6 chapters as an excerpt, and if I do get published, you get a free e-book.
While it's taken me a stupid amount of time to get my ideas into one coherent book, this place helped me a lot, as I used this place to help flesh out the personality and backstory of one of my novel's main characters.
The link is here -- https://kindlescout.amazon.com/p/RTLQCXG7D5EF -- there's a blue 'nominate' button. You just need an Amazon account.
I appreciate your support, Omniverse.
All the love in the world,
Alex

So. I'm well aware that it's still quite a ways off for me at this point, but with my return to (somewhat) active writing and a few plans I have laid in store, the opportunity for fourth character-hood will be upon me soon enough. As always, I am beset by myriad options and choices. I have a fairly good idea who I'll probably go with, but the problem lies in that I have a few good ideas for most of them, and a solid option for storyline progression, as well. Which leaves me at the dilemma, as you may expect, of 'what do'.
Barring any future collapses of life and possible switching (which I hope will not happen), this will be my last character, as well. So it's in that "kind of a Big Deal" territory, if you will. So, below I'll be listing my current ideas, and some of my thoughts/reasoning for each one, as well as a couple honorable mentions that I'm pretty sure I wouldn't actually pick, but are still in that "this is neat, I have an idea or two" area. Any thoughts you might have, either for or against any of them, will be of immense help in narrowing down my decision and swinging my indecisive thinking one way or another.
I haven't really assigned any specific goals or archetypes to my characters I already have. No specific niche or type of thing they're filling in, or anything like that; that seems limiting. I obviously have specific plans and goals for each one, but they're not solely limited by/to that. So I don't really have any gaps or holes in my roster I want to fill in; I just want a character that I can enjoy writing as for a prolonged period of time, y'know?
And of course, if you have any other suggestions/ideas for characters, don't hesitate to say as much. I love new ideas. I'll look into them, and maybe just come across something new to enjoy, and maaaaybe just take you up on that suggestion. So have at it.
Actual options below:
Character Options
Yoshikage Kira
![[Image: c2ec1ff8046902d658effb7722fa875e--kira-y...jojoba.jpg]](https://i.pinimg.com/564x/c2/ec/1f/c2ec1ff8046902d658effb7722fa875e--kira-yoshikage-jojoba.jpg)
Yoshikage Kira...is the main antagonist of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable, for anyone who may not know. He is also someone who I very nearly chose as a character already. I even got as far as actually posting an application for him, only to decide against it at the very last second and go with Wesker, instead. I have quite a few ideas already planned out, but the most interesting thing is that he wouldn't really have any sort of big plots or major arcs, so much as just...a constant storyline. He just wants to live a quiet life, after all.
But the thing is...he's also a serial murderer, with a very dark outlook and mindset and the capacity for all sorts of shenanigans. Despite only being a story character, his activities would ensure that drama and chaos would always find him eventually. Add on to this that his Stand offers several avenues for all manner of abilities, powers and moves to purchase, and he becomes quite the interesting little choice to ponder over.
Vile
![[Image: Mega%2BMan%2BMaverick%2BHunter%2BX%2B%25286%2529.jpg]](https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yix3UZpzIP8/VzlFeaNyscI/AAAAAAABRUM/B5zlWEIGk48T_vP7kEfQSSNi-LHeULugACKgB/s1600/Mega%2BMan%2BMaverick%2BHunter%2BX%2B%25286%2529.jpg)
Vile is...a former A-Class Maverick Hunter, from the Megaman X series. He's got some serious issues, caused by an irreparable short circuit in his electronic brain. It doesn't detract from his abilities or skills in any manner, but it does cause some massive personality flaws. He's sadistic, merciless, and destructive, often going out of his way to cause as much collateral damage as possible, completely and utterly annhiilating his target rather than just destroying or apprehending them, and sparing little care to anyone caught in the crossfire.
He was obsessed with proving himself the better of anyone and everyone, absolutely refusing to work with a partner or allies and adopting a lone wolf mentality. He especially despised X, often going out of his way to taunt and torment him, and seeking above all else to destroy him.
He's a character with little in the way of plots or story and more of just a sort of...break character. His violence and destructive impulses would make for a good "evil for evil's sake" sort of thing, enabling spur of the moment actions with little forethought and make for good fun without getting bogged down in plots. There's a chance the idea would get old sooner rather than later, however, so I'm somewhat hesitant about it.
Roger Smith
![[Image: 5bc7e9f2252ab152560ae5bc2b7d6b78a96a4f4c_hq.jpg]](https://pm1.narvii.com/5934/5bc7e9f2252ab152560ae5bc2b7d6b78a96a4f4c_hq.jpg)
Roger Smith is...the main character of The Big O, a relatively short anime series. He's a Negotiator, a man who serves as a professional go-between to handle delicate situations and with some traces of being a private investigator as well. He is also the Dominus who is in charge of piloting the Megadeus, the Big O, and using it to confront and deal with all manner of giant creatures and other giant machines.
He has plenty of potential for storylines and plots, and my general idea is to establish him as a sort of character similar to his role from the series. Serving as a mediator and negotiator, or as assistance in tracking down or finding people/items. The Big O itself also offers plenty of opportunity for combat with its several weapons and sheer massive bulk, as well as good old-fashioned giant robot fights. And who doesn't love those?
He's also in possession of an interesting cast of support characters and NPCs which could be used for further writing fodder and story work, making for further points in his favor.
Megaman Volnutt
![[Image: 360750-megaman_trigger_large.jpg]](http://leviathyn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/360750-megaman_trigger_large.jpg)
Megaman Volnutt is...the primary character of the (sadly, very short) Megaman Legends series. He's very much a heroic sort, doing his best to help out who and where he can, with a tendency to get wrapped up in all sorts of big goings-on, sometimes just by simple coincidence. He's got plenty of opportunities for fairly large plots and stories, and his whole deal is being an explorer.
Going out to the different verses, heading out into the areas where no one or almost no one goes to just explore, and see what's out there. All manner of fun times and potential for craziness to be had, there. Add on a readily available source of antagonists in such areas, as well as a useful and (at least to me) entertaining cast of support characters and NPCs to help out, and it's even better.
Of course, him being a Megaman character he does have access to a large variety of different weaponry and tools, to boot, making him fairly versatile and allowing for plenty of combat potential to defend himself.
Honorable Mentions
Trafalgar Law: From One Piece. A character who I've actually found pretty interesting, for quite a while now. Since around when he was first introduced in the series, really. Problem is...it's hard for me to really come up with much for him. A few little tidbits and ideas here and there, but what really grabs me about him is his character and powers more than anything, and so it's hard for me to really think "this is a good character I could choose", y'know?
Toriko: The title character from the manga/anime of the same name. Very much a hype-wave sort of choice; I just started watching the anime recently, and I absolutely love his character. I managed to come up with a few plot/story ideas but it's still early, so I'm notsure if it's something I'll stick with. Maybe by the time I can actually take a fourth character I'll have a more solid idea, though.
Beerus: From Dragon Ball Super. The God of Destruction for the universe in which the series actually takes place. Multiple universes; who knew? He's an...interesting one. Again, another one I like more for his personality and antics, and one I have trouble coming up with actual ideas for. Add on that I do already have a DBZ character, and...well. Could make for a little stagnation, maybe. I'unno.
CHARACTER NAME: Flynn McAllistair
CHARACTER SOURCE: Power Rangers RPM
CHARACTER HISTORY: While Flynn was a mechanic by trade, a skill taught to him by his father, Flynn expressed a strong desire to help others like the superheroes in the comic books he frequently read as a child. However, more often than not, it would get him in trouble. His father didn't approve of his son's wish to save people, who believed and insisted there was no such thing as superheroes. Despite this Flynn remained true to what he believed and what he knew he wanted to do; help people. After graduating high school, he finally got that chance to do what he always wished to. Not realizing the full responsibilities that came along with such line of work, his passion for helping others tended to get in the way as he usually overdid his jobs (ex. spraying a burning building to the point of unnecessary water damage, and then wanting to go back into the said building to save the plants) and was subsequently fired from all of them.
As soon as Venjix attacked, both he and his father fled to Corinth, but Flynn, seeing that there were still many people who had yet to make it into the domed city, went back outside to save a busload of people. With his skills, he eventually made it unharmed back to Corinth. His actions finally impressed his father, whom now wholeheartedly supports and is proud of his son. And with that, Flynn's dream of becoming a true superhero finally came true when he was selected to become Ranger Series Operator Blue, along with Scott Truman and Summer Landsdown as Red and Yellow respectively.
A while into the war for Corinth, Dillon, a mechanically upgraded human, joined the team as Operator Black, and was soon joined by Ziggy Grover as Operator Green. Dillon and Ziggy's arrival as rangers resulted in feelings of distrust from Flynn, due to the nature of Dillon's mechanical upgrades, but Flynn was still less antagonistic than Scott over the matter, willing to allow Dillon on-board if the group consensus felt it was best. Ziggy joining the team produced quite a bit more incredulity in him, however. Despite any initial feelings of doubt, he seems to have since fully embraced the two as official members of the team. Since then, he's fought with many of Venjix's robots along with his team. But it didn't last. After the events of "Ranger Blue", Flynn was sucked into the Omniverse.

| Mimic Is Not Needed (If You're Spending OM) |

I was gonna post this in Quick Questions originally, but I don't wanna get told off for going off topic... though it is technically in response to a Warren's question, but... eh. Don't wanna risk it.
Sooo... a little while ago I saw Jade post this in response to a move of Warren's:
Jade Harley Wrote:Mjolnir: This would require Mimic and that your character has witnessed Thor's hammer being used in-person.
But here's the thing, the Power description doesn't actually say that you need Mimic to buy someone's moves with OM, only that you have to buy them with OM if you want to use them after an hour has passed since they were copied (or you could copy them again, I guess, if the person that has them is still nearby).
On top of that, here's a quote from the Rules:
Quote:Summoning and Extraction In Detail
Summoning and extraction are both processes that seem alien when explained out loud, and yet are somehow instinctively understood when it comes time to do them. To summon something, a Prime simply visualises what it is they need and focuses on the Omnilium within themselves. This requires the summoner to sit or stand still for the period of time required (see the below section for more detail). If they do not have sufficient Omnilium, a kind of jarring feedback occurs - they know instinctively how much is needed. When summoning, the Omnilium emerges from the Prime in a kind of rainbow bubble, flashing through colours until it fades to reveal the desired item. It is difficult to summon anything discreetly.
In addition to summoning something from scratch, summoning can be used as a process to summon additional power or improve equipment. In this case, the rainbow bubble forms a kind of coccoon around the individual or piece of equipment being improved. Extraction is a similar process requiring uninterrupted concentration and time depending on the amount of omnilium being extracted, except that the bubble of Omnilium emerges from the item being extracted, which gradually becomes dessicated before vanishing entirely. Some sadistic Primes choose to kill their enemies using this method, even though killing a Prime conventionally produces exactly the same end result of Omnilium.
Important part in bold.
It clearly states that all you need to do is focus on what you want... you don't need to understand how it works; if you did, most characters would be unable to summon Dataverse Devices, for example.
If you've seen someone's gun or sword up close then there's absolutely no reason why you couldn't just visualise that in your head and create a perfect replica.
For other moves this may be more complicated, as these things may have some drawbacks that may not be immediately apparent when watching someone use it (e.g. cooldown times)... so in that case you could maybe argue that Insight would be required, in order to understand something well enough to copy it (though honestly, since your character doesn't need to understand how their car works in order to summon a perfect replica of it in the OV that functions exactly as it should, I'd still say that's debatable).
So... anyone else have any thoughts on this?
Am I totally wrong here? And if so, why?

No sooner than he was back among the trees, Kelly took to the canopy, dropping into a low crouch and leaping straight up from the forest floor, trailing a sprinkle of black soil from the soles of his hob-nailed boots. He had to kick off the trunk of a tree in order to reach a suitable perch, a mossy, vine-choked branch no wider than his hand.
High-ground established, the traveler took a moment to orient himself, crouching among the low-altitude mists and wet leaves as he mentally retraced his path through the forest, extrapolating the route back to his point of origin. It was much easier now, though whether this was the result of experience or his recent psychological safari he couldn't say; Regardless, in practically no time at all he was leaping from branch to branch once more, quarterstaff clutched in one calloused hand. His ponytail, damp from the perpetually-moist canopy, trailed behind him as he made a bee-line for the Nexus Gate.
In spite of the extremely eventful day he'd had, Kelly had decided he liked the Green. All around him he could sense the pulse of life in abundance. From the miniscule electrochemical twinkle of insects nestling within the bark of the trees, to the more sophisticated shine of tiny frogs clinging to the bottoms of their leaves, to the caged-lightning brightness of a startled feline super-predator too surprised at the man in jeans hurtling through its treetop domain to seize the opportunity, it was all writ large in anti-color shades and voluminous flavors; heat, magnetism and ultraviolet light painted a three-hundred-sixty degree view of the world. The comparatively plodding bio-rhythms of the plants themselves provided a stark counterpoint to the extravagant tapestry.
There was a profound openness to the verse's complex verdant vitality, a subtle sort of idle urgency that eased the psychic's mind.
Besides - it was giving him ideas.
When the time comes to establish a primary base of operations, I think I'm going to have to come back here. Those ruins the local Nebula cell was operating from were extensive, surrounded by dense jungle and extremely well-hidden... provided nobody else moves in in the meantime, they'll serve nicely.
Of course, I'll need to establish my forward outposts in Coruscant first...
Kelly briefly considered opening a holographic dataverse window and firing off a round of e-mails in order to set the stage for his return to the city, but he dismissed the idea quickly - even with his recent mental upgrades, he still wasn't adept enough to make the seemingly-casual acrobatics he was performing in order to maneuver through the canopy something he could do while conducting other business and not risk a face full of tree.

ICly, Warren is about to give Hecate some of his OM. This will be about 1000 OM to be exact that he will be loaning her as an investment in the future. As he is doing that ICLy, I would like the Omnilium transferred, if the staff members would be so kind as to help me with that.

Hit me up with your Prime's birth details and I'll put up a detailed horoscope for them.
Information that I need from you:
- Birth Date
- Exact Birth Time
- Exact Location (on Earth)
(AS IN THIS REAL PLANET)
(THAT YOU ARE ON)
(EARTH)
(A REAL PLACE)
Now, obviously, some of you may not have this kind of info, since we've got aliens, dimensional travelers, et al.
If you really want a horoscope, just come up with something. Results might be a bit...skewed, however. Here'a a sample using Jade Harley. I didn't have an exact time and location, so I just picked American Samoa at 3:30 pm. Seemed like a very Jade time of day.
Sun in Sagittarius, Moon in Aries
Although your most conscious aim is to acquire wisdom, your mind rushes out impulsively. Your nature is excitable, and you are in perpetual motion. You are a high-driving individual who needs to excel and to outshine others. With your passionate nature, you will be involved in many relationships, sexual and social, throughout life. In positive circumstances, you may achieve good through pioneering and reform. You have generous traits and will defend your friends staunchly. The key to a more harmonious self lies in cultivating restraint and fixity of purpose. If you will set your mind on a single goal, you have the necessary personality and psychological tools to realize your aims.
Ascendant in Taurus, Venus in the Ninth House
At the time of your birth the zodiacal sign of Taurus was ascending in the horizon. Its ruler Venus is located in the ninth house.
Taurus is the second sign of the zodiacal belt and within its rulership there are determination, common sense, possessiveness, and a tendency to seek material wealth.
You appear as a solid, secure, even slow person, fond of moving along tangible lines, disliking abstract speculation.
You are loyal and steadfast in your affections. Your overall attitude is amiable, exhibiting much patience in dealings with other people. You are a sensuous person who likes to indulge in healthful but always pleasurable activities. In spite of this, however, you have a tremendous capacity for exercising both will-power and physical strength. A major difficulty you encounter in life is due to your inflexibility; once you have made up your mind, you are closed to all other suggestion or opinion.
Venus, the ruler of your life, appears in the ninth house. This directs your life, despite the less intellectual aspects of your basic Taurus nature, to the pursuit of philosophy, religion, metaphysics, logic, and in material matters, to land travel. You possess much common-sense, practicality, and healthy sentiments.
Your higher thoughts are fine, rational, analytical and well defined. You can become a patron to anything which includes both reason and beauty, and which will enhance existence with joy and a humanistic spirit. Most important, however, is that you have a kind and gentle disposition and an avid love for culture.

Saturn in the Eleventh House
