So I've had like this THING lately.
For some reason the font I write in appeals more to me in TNR or similar. (Sometimes font can set a mood / prepare the reader for the style of the story.)
Lately I love *seeing* action scenes like in movies or anime or music videos.
It makes me FEEL more actiony and interactive. Like I can punch the guy too! But my point isn't to say some font is better than others and movies are supreme.
This thread is: How to make writing details come alive from mere text? Watching and imagining are two different things but when described well it can be super fluent and easy in the reader's mind!
Accents/italics and bolds are great sometimes but there is so much more that creates a vivid, live scene right before your eyes.
This thread is partly inspired by DA fights, and partly inspired by my minor OCD.
Below, feel free to share or offer advice relating to how to make writing and specifically movement come alive!

Tired. I am so very tired. This feeling. Like I am being burned on a pyre alive. Oh wait, I am being burned down alive. Strange. I don't feel like I have died yet. And... what is this?
Sylvan felt strange. Like he was forcefully thrown out of his body and then asked to return back to it. Weak and disoriented, he thought about what was to become of him after his undoubtful death. Acording to beliefs of his ancestors, a warriors soul was sent into eternal fight against Darkness. It was the souls of the dead that guarded dreams of the living. The warriors duty never ended, even in death. That is why the presence that now was intruding upon his death realm proved to be... disconcenting. But the wolf could do nothing about it. He was devoid of all ability to control his body. On the other hand, the presence was not malevolent. How did he know? Fight with Baalan for your entire life and maybe you might be able to comprehend.
Finaly, the presence took pity on the wolf. And started talking...

So this thread is similar to my 'other characters themesongs' thread, but instead of themesongs you assign a voice to the Prime above you from any source you want.
I have no one to voice since I'm first, but I will say you should probably voice Tearen as a human. ICly his telepathy doesn't have a 'sound'.

Kitty Korlac's first impression of this island paradise completely exceeded her expectations. As the helicopter roared loudly in the air, her focus on the landscape underneath her completely drained the noise from her ears. This pocket verse - this huge, beautiful island was exactly what she needed it to be. It had serene beaches, rolling hills and a horizon that warmed her typically cool demeanor. On top of that, though, it also had this feeling of dread that seemed to envelope it. The fact that it was so empty, despite looking like it had been lived on. It was eerie. Kitty loved that about it.
"What do you think?" came a voice next to her. It was over a microphone, since there was no way anyone could hear over the noise if the roters spinning above them. She turned her head to see the well-dressed executive next to her. She had to brush away her platinum blonde locks as her mane threatened to escape the confines of its bun. He was grinning through shiny, well-kept teeth. The sun was shining off his head. "It's gorgeous, am I right?"
"Its okay," Kitty shrugged. She gave a frown, as if disappointed. But as soon as she turned her shoulder to look out at the scene again, it disappeared and gave way to a wry little smile. The reality was that this was perfect. The perfect scene for her perfect show.
It took awhile for the helicopter to circle the island, letting Kitty and the executives with her get a sense of the land beneath them. Finally, it began to descend down towards the southern-most point of the landmass, where what appeared to be an airfield sat, untouched. The aerial vehicle landed gently on the runway, right in the middle. Once the rotors stopped spinning, Kitty was helped out by a man in what appeared to be a military uniform. She gave him a polite smile and walked right by.
Kitty brushed any creases off of her tight-fitting dress as she looked down the runway. There was a single plane resting a few hundred yards away, right next to the tower that she assumed was for monitoring air traffic. She turned to look back at the three suits making their way over to her. All of them had big stupid grins on their face, clearly impressed with what they were seeing. She gave a light smile back, to confirm that she was satisfied with the same thing, but not enough to make them think she was ecstatic or anything. Like she was.
"This is perfect!" The first one exclaimed. He was the one that had been sitting next to Kitty on the helicopter, with a big smile plastered across his face.
"It has everything we need!" The second one said excitedly.
"We could ev-
"Enough," Kitty said, putting a single hand up to cut off the youngest of the three boardrooms grunts. All three of them lost their shiny smiles immediately and looked at each other before straightening up, waiting for her to speak. She waited a moment for emphasis, letting the tension increase before turning to walk. She headed towards the grassy field near the runway, away from their helicopter. All three followed her, diligently. "Number One, you are in charge of the cast list. I want to see all approved applications and screenings, as well as all names offered up from the Coruscant Court System."
It was clear that she wasn't listing off things. She was actually calling one of them 'Number One.' He knew immediately that she was talking about him. "Yes, Ma'am!"
The blonde television personality came to a halt in front of the field. She didn't actually step off of the tarmac, as she had heels on and didn't want to mess them up. But she was content looking out at the clear grassy plains in front of them. This airfield was in perfect position; right in the middle of nowhere. "Number Two. You're going to drop in all of the supplies and weapons. Some of them need to be really good, and the rest just randomly place things. Any questions?"
"No, Ma'am!" Came the expected response.
She took a moment to think about what her third request was. She would need someone to brief the host, but she could do that when she actually picked someone. Also, someone had to set up the streaming services around the island, to ensure the show was properly aired onto the Dataverse. But that was a task far too large for her youngest assistant, and she had experience in the network industry anyway, so she could handle that. There were other logistics to manage, but...
"M-Ma'am?" Her thoughts were interrupted by the stammering voice of Number Three. She frowned, but was facing away from them so the boy couldn't see it. "What shall I do?"
Annoyed at his intrusion to her thought process, she turned around towards them. All of them grimaced and tensed as they saw the unhappiness in her spectacled face. She grunted as she stormed past them, heels are all. "Just get me a coffee," she demanded. "Get to work!" The last words were very clearly to all three of them.
Immediately, all three scampered away. The first two of her assistants, both seemingly competent and older, had clear paths of where to go: the airplane down the runway and the tower near it. The third had no idea where he was going to get her very specific brand of coffee on this strange island, so he just kind of ran in a random direction. Kitty climbed up onto the helicopter once more, with the help of the military man from earlier.
"Take me back to the office," she said aloud. Even though there were three men in tan camouflage around her, she wasn't speaking to anyone in particular. The two in the cockpit of the helicopter immediately to go to work in getting the vehicle operational. The third one began to strap her safely back into her seat and then climbed back up. She appreciated the silent obedience of these men. They were clearly well trained. Or properly brainwashed. She didn't ask questions. It wasn't important. They didn't even bother to ask what she intention was with her executive assistants, that were left there on the airfield. The helicopter just raised up into the air and began to head towards the east. Now that she had confirmed the island was in fact exactly what she needed it to be, she was ready to go work on the technical side. She planned in her head to send more and more crew to get work on creating her vision. A real competition show for the combat enthusiants in the Omniverse. A 'real' reality show. Nothing like the nonsense on the other frequencies of the Dataverse.
Kitty Korlac had made television programs before. She had created an entire subscription network on the Dataverse, practically from the ground up. But there was all kid stuff compared to this. She was jumping into an already existing genre of programming and was making it better. It was a whole new format. A completely original idea. Well, okay, not original. But it was a good idea.
Fifty competitors would land on her island. Only one would survive on her Island of Survival.
The name could use some work, she thought.

I have had an idea for a secondary story, but I'm not totally sure I can accomplish this story on my own. I'm planning on getting two other people to help me with it. If you're interested in a rather long story with secondaries, let me know. I'm not going by first come first serve either, I'll be choosing the people I want to write with out of the list of people who would be interested.
My plan is to practically do a smaller secondary saga. Take some secondaries and see if we can get them up into the Oververse. Though I think Secondary saga was much bigger than I want to take it, and maybe if you guys convince me, we'll just try to another secondary saga where everyone can join in as they see fit. What do you guys think? Am I stupid? Is this a good idea? I know not long ago we had an offer to do I new secondary saga, but I hate that I missed the first one. I would love to have a chance at it.
If you're new and don't know what the secondary saga really is, let me explain: A group of secondaries will band together to attempt the Void quest in any chosen verse. The party size doesn't matter, but it would be a good idea to limit one secondary per person. Last year, I'm pretty sure that the secondaries made it to Omni, but I didn't get a chance to read it, as it was finished before I joined. You may bring a secondary you currently have, or even create a secondary specifically for this saga. Don't be afraid to jump in. It might be messy, but we have great staff and players who can run sagas here. I trust that we can attempt this, messy or not, and still have a great time!

When Undyne appeared in Ambrosia's Recall Station again - a large statue of some childlike human oddly reminding her of Frisk, holding its hands out with the station in its middle, her first words were: "Ghh... what the hell was that all about?" This girl claimed to have fought her yet she had never met her before. Had she taken the souls? And Flowey's body?
A new crack appeared on her SOUL and the feeling of two fingers falling off and turning to dust pulled her back to the present. Actually, she should be more worried about herself right now... though Betty hadn't attacked her, she felt very weakened. A monster servant of Pokute Palace wearing a frilly maid outfit approached her, looking noticeably worried, and gasped as she arrived and saw Undyne's sorry state. "Oh no, you're injured! Have you recalled out of a battle? Can you walk?"
"... probably", Undyne replied as she pushed herself to her feet. Yeah, she could still manage.
"Then follow me, quickly! The Healing Center is right around the corner." She took Undyne by her armored arm and led her through a side entrance into the palace, then into... a bathhouse?
"Hey, you're mistaken... I need some first aid, not a bath."
"Nono, we're in the right place. This is magical water. Just step in and soak your injuries in it, it'll heal you." She stood by as Undyne pulled her armor off manually, first ridding herself of the gloves and arm-guards, then the heavy chestpiece and finally the leg-guards and boots. She cared little that by going into the water she was drenching the tanktop and pants that she wore underneath that right now - to take those off would just have wasted time. She made a silent promise that if she died here she'd come back as a ghost to haunt that girl for bringing her to the wrong place.
As soon as her battered body sunk into the water, that promise was forgotten about. Undyne could not help but to groan with unrestrained relief as the warm, minimally green water washed over her and her pain vanished almost instantly. Pain in places that she hadn't even realized hurt. She submerged her head as well and let the water soak her hair, then sat on the staircase leading into the pool. "Thank you", she told the girl with a bright smile. "I feel better already."
"That's good! But, you need to stay in the water for a few hours, your injuries will only heal if you don't leave it."
"I guessed..." She looked at her left hand which was missing the pinky and index fingers. "I'd better change into something more appropriate then. Thank you for bringing me here, though. I owe you one."
"Don't mention it. I'll leave you to your recovery then!" she said and, with Undyne not protesting, left.
Okay, first on the list was to get herself something to wear. She closed her eyes and focused, summoning a two-piece swimsuit like the one that she had worn that day with Alphys, on the beach. The day before she'd been brought here. She let the spring do its work while summoning, then as soon as she felt the soft tissue in her hands she stripped her clothing off including the eyepatch, dumped it onto a pile next to her armor, donned the swimsuit and leapt into the water - which she was promptly punished for with a stinging pain across her abdomen. Even if the pain was gone she was far from healed yet, after all. Not that it kept her from going at it a bit more gently, submerging herself entirely and letting her gills take over while she did a few circles in the deeper part of the pool. But even that wasn't something that she could keep up for long: what little stamina she had regained since the fight with Flowey was rapidly lost from the swimming, and soon she needed to stop.
"Whew... I should probably check for Sans's messages," she told herself as she returned to the edge to have a seat. Thankfully her phone was waterproof - what else would it be when she lived in WATERfall of all places? - so even though it had gotten soaked along with her pants it functioned just fine when she pulled it out. Well, what do you know, he answered already. So he was still in Ambrosia, that was good. But what was that about a special surprise? Had he found Papyrus? She rolled her eyes and typed a fast reply, then looked around for a good place to relax.
A statue in the back of the bathhouse caught her eye. It was that kid looking like Frisk again, holding a jar and with its mouth wide open. From both the jar and the mouth came a steady stream of the healing water that was likely drained from somewhere else. It fell into a shallow pool and from there poured into the main one. Hmm, what if...? She grabbed the phone just in case, walked and swam over to the shallow pool and sat. Right beneath the waterfall, perfect! She crossed her legs beneath herself, put the phone down next to the pool where it wouldn't be washed away by the current, closed her eyes and breathed deep in through both her gills and nose.
She had meditated under waterfalls before, but never under one whose water healed and was this warm. She felt relaxed, almost drowsy, and allowed her conscience to drift a little as the healing waters continued their work on her body. Of course, a true warrior's senses were always sharp like a blade. Nobody could hope to sneak up on her even if she meditated a little. Nobody at all.
...
... were those footsteps she heard, coming into the room? It'd better not be some kid wanting to try on her suit.

Stella never understood her husband's actions-- every full moon carried with it the strange moods he seemed to fall into. No one knew why that was, but normally it wasn't a problem, so no one bothered to find out.
With tonight's bout of monthly lunacy, however, she was starting to consider getting her husband some counseling. The man, bless his soul, had somehow came under the idea that demons and other such monsters were planning to break into the orphanage. And on Halloween, no less. She knew the former priest's distain for the holiday, but right now it was like his fears had been multiplied tenfold.
While she had been taking care of the children, Hunter had busied himself in the basement and refused to come out. Stella had no clue what he was up to at first, but sometimes, when she came across the basement door, she would put her ears up to the wooden frame and listen. Latin chants and prayers would greet her, and given her husband's former occupation, she learned exactly what he was doing.
All she needed was a sincere prayer to be rest assured that she was safe. Her partner, on the other hand, was too paranoid for his own good; he was working on spells and rituals to keep their home safe. She never trusted magic, but she knew that Hunter would not resort to such things unless he knew it was safe to use.
Her husband, despite his occasional lunacy and his neurotic tendencies, always made sure that his family and those under his care were safe. He always cared. Maybe a little too much.
The moon had risen and the orphans were out and about trick-or-treating. Now that the orphanage was mostly empty, she could check on her partner without scaring the children. She opened the basement door and descended into the darkness. The scent of candles wafted in the air, leading her to a small corridor. A faint light flickered under the door, accompanied with Hunter's spellcasting.
With a sigh, she opened the door and stepped in. When her husband didn't react, she reached for a light switch and flicked it on. Hunter recoiled from the sudden brightness, raising a hand to shield his eyes as he turned to glance at her. He stood in place on top of a pentagram, surrounded by four candles, and he wasn't fully facing her. His green eyes were lined with bags, and his reddish-brown hair was messily combed over the left side of his face.
"Stella, dear?" he asked, concern lacing his voice. "What are you doing down here?"
"You been down here all day," she sighed. "I've been running the place without you and I'm wondering when you'll finish... whatever you're doing. I'm worried about you. Chelsea is too."
Hunter's tired smile fell into a frown. "I'm... sorry. It's just I don't want to cut corners. This will be the last one..." He turned back to look at the wall in front of him. "...I promise."
Stella nodded. "Alright."
"Can you wait outside, please? I need to be alone for this."
She hesitated, but slowly backed up and closed the door to leave her husband in peace.
However, if she had pressed further, or wasn't tired, she might've noticed the gun in his hand.
-------------
Hunter couldn't understand why his wife wasn't putting as much effort into this as he was. Even when he expressed his concerns to her, it felt as if she didn't believe him. As much as he loved her, she was driving him nuts. How could she not realize the dangers out there? Every time he glanced out the window today, he could see them.
He could see their warped bodies and cloven hooves stalking near the border, their blood-red scales reflecting hatred as they clawed the air outside the orphanage in a desperate attempt to break in. At first, they remained beyond the gate, but as the night arrived, they had breached his defenses and were slamming their horned heads into the windows.
Stella, for some reason, didn't notice them.
And thus it had come to this; he was the only one who saw them and thus he was the only one who could protect his home. He had never intended to cast this spell - the cost was too great - but as his weaker spells had been broken, this was the only option he had left. All he needed was a sacrifice.
And there was only one person he was willing to kill for it.
His thumb spun the chamber of his pistol before locking it in place. Six silver bullets were loaded in, soon to be five. He cradled the barrel of the gun to his temple, shuddering at the cold metal as it pressed up against his skin. He fingered the trigger, but didn't pull it.
They were going to miss him. His family and the orphans both. But he had to do it. Hopefully, sometime in the future, when they passed on, they would arrive in heaven and he would greet them at the pearly gates.
He took a deep breath to brace himself before he pulled the trigger.
His body held still, presumably frozen by rigor mortis. He heard nothing. He felt nothing. More worryingly, he saw nothing. Was he in purgatory? The blackness around him seemed like something he'd find in purgatory.
He wasn't sure how long he was there before something happened. The former priest was about to resign himself to his fate, but a speck of white interrupted the void, drawing closer until its humanoid nature was revealed.
The being had introduced itself as "Omni," and claimed that it had pulled the man from his world and into its own. From there, it went on to explain the rules of this new universe, among them, that he wouldn't be able to die.
Hunter had wanted to object, to say that he had something to do back home, but his mouth refused to cooperate. He was forced to stay there and listen to the creature in front of him.
Eventually he realized that he could move again, and when he blinked, he was no longer in the abyss. The black had been replaced with endless white, with a fountain in what had to be the center of the blankness.
Remembering that he still had the gun up against his head, he lowered it and examined the chamber.
Six bullets.
And it would stay six for now.

Hey there! I am trying to find something to write to get me back into it, so I have a idea that will hopefully help. I'd like to write a Battle Royale fanfic here in the Omniverse (creative forum), kind of in the style of PLAYERUNKNOWN's Battlegrounds.
The idea is that the game would feature whole teams of 2-5 people, along with a bunch of solo players. It would be an interactive game, so I (and anyone lookin to join) would write chapters and anyone who is reading along can help us make decisions along the way. I'd also look to other people to help me make the cast, as well.
I'm probably going to do it regardless, but the question is that would anyone here be willing to read and/or participate in this? It will help decide if I want to do it here or try to do it in another form.
