Step 1: Make a post. This post should be at least 600 words. You may also post multiple times adding up to 600 words or more.
Step 2: Click on the name of your post. See it? It's probably something like 'Re: The Story of John Doe', a large line of text above your post. This should have a hashtag and your post link at the end of it (see the bolded part on the end here: http://omniverse-rpg.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=1114&p=7298#p7298). Copy the entire URL from your address bar.
Step 3: Post it in the active fortnightly gains topic. The date of your post should be within the date range, GMT. If you are submitting multiple posts that add up to 600, post all of the links.
Step 4 (optional): If you have posted in the current book club, please include a link to that post along with the text 'book club'.
Step 5 (optional): If you have a Recognition bonus, please include in your post 'Recognition bonus: +50'. If you have an Ascendancy bonus, please post with 'Ascendancy bonus: +100'.
That's all you need to do! When the topic is updated, you will be given 300 OM. Obviously if you have a recognition or ascendancy bonus, this will be increased by 50 or 100. A book club bonus will increase this by a further 100. If no mod has posted at the end of the topic, then it hasn't been updated yet. You do not need to ask "has the thread been updated? I didn't get my OM" every week.
New fortnightly gains topics go up every second Sunday at midnight (at the end of Saturday and the dawn of Sunday) GMT. The valid time begins on Sunday at 0000 hours GMT and ends on Saturday at 2359 GMT.

I emerge from the portal and into the Dunes with a smile. The smile fades as I start to tug at my parka dress's neck, hoping to cool myself off a little. It's warmer than I'd expected, and since I was expecting a desert, that's saying something. It's a little grassy and tree-y - is there a better word than tree-y? - to be a desert here. "Uh, Histy?" I look at my shoulder. "Did we dial the wrong number? Should we leave a message after the--"
Histy sighs. "Now isn't exactly the time for jokes." She adds, "the desert we're looking for is in another area. With about an hour and a half of walking, we should reach the edge of this area. But I sense something here," she continues, "something familiar."
I blink a few times, then look around. "Dreary grassy sort-of-trees place isn't ringing any bells up here, Histy," I respond as I knock on my head with my left hand. "Are you going loopy in the desert without us even being in the desert? Are you sure you're cut out for this?" I joke. She looks like she's about to start saying something, but before she does, her eyes widen. Suddenly I feel something slimy tackle me and knock me over. I yelp as I tumble to the ground - some distance was probably made between Histy and me, but I don't know how much. All I know is she isn't on my shoulder anymore.
I look at my stomach and see a big, light bluish blob of goo. At the front of the blob is a white oval, on which its cute little smile and black nose lie. Above that are two black oval eyes and on top of its head are a pair of circular black ears. A tail which, surprisingly, is also black wags behind it. "A dogoo? Pffffft," I laugh a little, "I could beat the snot outta you with a stick!" I roll over and stand up, knocking the ball of blobbiness off of me and onto the ground. I flip and somersault backwards, making some space between me and my enemy. My opponent, if such laughably weak grind-fodder could even be called that, hops just barely off the ground, as though to indicate the battle starting. I hear some orchestral music start to play on the sidelines. It gets louder, like it's getting closer, then I see Histy approaching me. It's... coming from her? Weird.
"Wait! This is the perfect opportunity for me to teach you a few things!" she shouts, the music continuing to play. "This isn't the world we know," she says. I note that this is probably a recurring theme. "As such, combat is... different. Your abilities have changed more than a bit, so you may find that any strategy different from 'whack enemy with ornate metal' isn't as easy to pull off as it used to be. Would you like me to teach you how to fight here?"
My opponent approaches, ignorant of the oncoming tutorial. "Hey! No cheating!" I shout as I point at the Dogoo. I turn back to Histy and shrug. "Sure, I guess. Couldn't hurt to burn a little time, right?"
Histy floats off to the side of the field again. A picture of my face, looking cheeky and happy, appears in bottom-left corner of my vision. Beside it are two bars: a red and a blue bar, with 20/20 and 2/2 inside each respective bar. "Aw, man! I'm low-tier!" I whine.
"Let's not worry about that for now," she replies. "Those are your HP and SP bars. You're familiar with them - you've had them before, though they were significantly larger. Again, it's not the world we know," she explains. "I won't explain them much because you already know how both of them work. What you don't understand yet is how your equipment and abilities work." Her voice changes and shakes a little. "I know this might sound ridiculous, but I want you to hold out both of your hands in front of you."
I do as she says, with my open palms facing my enemy. "Good," she chimes. "Remember your sword. Focus on it. Even with the limited amount of Shares you have, you should be able to materialize it with the assistance of Omnilium." As she speaks, zeroes and ones spin, shake and disappear in the shape of something like a meter stick before my hands. Before I know it, my katana - the Holy Fang Blade - appears in the air. I catch it before it falls.
"Wonderful!" she calls. "I wouldn't recommend using any skills, as they drain what little of your SP you have very quickly. While your HP bar will likely never increase, your SP will increase as you gain Shares. I can't fight alongside you here quite the same as I could otherwise, but you don't need help with a Dogoo," she explains. "Let the battle begin!"
I draw my blade, discard its sheath and leap into the air. My blade hangs high above my head, waiting to be brought down on the Dogoo that dared knock me down. "Fightin' time!" I cheer and, in a flash, slice clean through the blob of cuteness. It shatters, leaving behind little green zeroes and ones. They float at the point where it fell, seemingly waiting for something. "Experience? I'll, uh, just be taking the ones," I say as I root through the cloud of mostly hollow ovals. When I finish, I quickly summon a new sheath for the Holy Fang Blade on my back, twirl it a few times between my fingers, then slide it into its sheath proudly.
"I can't say I expected a different result," Histy admits from the sidelines as the music she's playing changes yet again. "You may not have gained much from that besides what I told you, but it was an interesting experience. At least your first fight in this world wasn't caused by a snide remark or a silly mistake," she adds.
"First of all, rude," I respond. "Second of all... nah, you're totally right. Onward!" I yell, thrusting my sword to the sky and charging.

Name: Captain Marvellous/GokaiRed
Character Source: Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (the 35th Super Sentai series)
Background: Captain Marvellous grew up under the dark shadow of his original universe's Zangyack Space Empire, an intergalactic conquest fleet that almost claimed the Earth in their fiendish plans. Luckily, the Earth had protectors, 34 Sentai who banded together into the greatest army of heroes ever assembled. Even they were no match for the seemingly limitless power of the Zangyack and their Emperor Ackdos Gil. In a last ditch effort, every hero poured their energy and life force into a single blast that repelled the invaders, but at a great cost; their powers were scattered to the cosmic winds.
Years later, the spirit of what it means to be Red Ranger, the mysterious AkaRed, began adventuring across the universe looking for these lost powers, which stabilized into numerous "Ranger Keys". He gathered a small crew, the AkaKi Pirates, to help him in his quest. One of these was Basco Te Jalokia, and the other was Marvellous. AkaRed had found the young man scavenging Zangyack ships for enough scraps to survive. In his scrounging he had found the Ranger Key of the very first Sentai warrior, Akarenger of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger. Finding in AkaRed the father figure he had never had, Marvellous quickly became a famed and feared enemy of the Zangyack.
AkaRed taught his disciples how to use various technomagical devices of his own invention which were designed to integrate the Ranger Keys. Once they collected all of the keys, AkaRed promised they would lead to "the greatest treasure in the universe" which was somewhere on the planet Earth. Basco grew jealous and when he learned of AkaRed's secret plan to just give the Treasure to the Earthlings, the scoundrel betrayed his crew to Zangyack forces. AkaRed died in the resulting battle, leaving Marvellous with the task of gathering the final keys and finding the Treasure before the traitor Basco.
Marvellous is brash, fearless and inherently distrustful of government, authority. In his own universe he gathered new nakama, mastered the Grand Powers of the 34 previous Sentai, and eventually gained the greatest treasure in the universe and defeated the Zangyack once and for all. What happened after that ...
Marvellous was brought into this world by Omni, and set about on a new quest. Basco had been brought to the Omniverse as well, while his comrades were lost. Marvellous has to reclaim a few lost keys, gather new nakama, relearn his powers as GokaiRed and defeat his nemesis Basco, all in a new Omniverse he knew nothing about. But Marvellous wasn't one to give up a chance for adventure, and maybe the Greatest Treasure in the Omniverse!
Level: 1
Spent OM: 4900
-1000 on Physical Strength
-1000 on Ranged Proficiency
-1400 on Shapeshifting
-300 on Basic Super jump
-600 on Gokai Gun
-600 on Gokai Saber
-100 left
Proficiencies:
Physical Strength (1000)
Ranged Proficiency (1000)
Powers:
Shapeshifting(1400) (note: Marvelous' Shapeshifting is unique, he cannot turn into anything but GokaiRed or previous Sentai Warriors, usually Red Senshi due to preference. When transformed he takes on the appearance and mannerisms of that Legend, and his weapons and powers reskin to resemble or duplicate the powers contained in the Ranger Keys. On the surface this may hover nebulously between underpowered and overpowered; usually the change is purely cosmetic. He can't duplicate any powers he hadn't bought, so he can't turn into a Red Eagle (Jetman) until he can fly and he can't turn into NinjaRed until he buys a cloning move.)
Basic Super Jump (300)
Moves:
-Gokai Gun (600, A technomagical flintlock pistol, it turns pure Sentai energy into hardened "metal" spheres and launches them at automatic weapon speeds. This move is Variable because when GokaiRed changes into other Sentai Warriors, the Gokai Gun changes with him. Most Sentai have a simple sidearm functionally identical to the Gokai Gun, but firing lasers or plasma or ki or what have you. Sometimes they don't and the Gun fades into nothingness. Sometimes they have a larger, slower, more damaging gun, like a cannon.)
-Gokai Saber (600, the sword counterpart to the Gokai Gun, the Gokai Saber is a technomagical cutlass designed to focus Sentai energy into devastating cuts. It is a wide, slashing blade with a guarded hilt. Like the Gokai Gun, it changes with GokaiRed, adopting whatever melee weapon that Senshi usually wields. Luckily for balance, most Red Rangers wield big swords functionally similar to the Gokai Saber. Some may be faster and smaller, while a very few are larger and slower)
Super Moves: none (first one will be called Final Wave: Blast and Slash)
Transformations: none (first will be Super Ranger, which will let him become one of the various stronger-than-normal senshi, next will be Gold Mode)
Base stats:
ATK: 4
DEF: 2
SPD: 1
TEC: 2
I have read the Code of Conduct.

"Home?" Eon's words escaped his mouth without a thought. As he took in the terrain the slight excitement he had felt for a moment began to diminish. This was not Gunsmoke... this was not his home. Just a dried up barren wasteland, no doubt the sandbox of Omni's play-sets. Eon felt frustration starting to swell up inside him. What a cruel joke, right? There were eight gates, he picked the direction opposite of the White Soldiers, he didn't even realize he was heading towards one of the gates until an hour or so into his wandering. Eight gateways, a 12.5% chance of choosing this one at random. The fact that this type of environment even existed, was only by the decision of the one that created this world... Omni. Why this one? Why rub salt on a wound...
"Ha ha ha ha.... Ha HA! HA! HA! HA! HAAAA!" Eon broke into laughter. "What are the Odds!? How did I pick this verse first? This is too much of a coincidence." He felt the frustration fade and his body relax, "There is reason behind this, I understand how this world works. You said it yourself Omni, this Omnillium, this energy you created and felt so inclined to name after yourself. It is what ties everything together, it is what everything consists of, and it is the reason we ARE!" A smile ran across his face, looking up to the sky and the Sun that shown so bright, he placed his hand over his eyes, "My being is made of the same essence this place is made of, I wanted to see my home, I never said it out loud nor did I dwell on the thought of it. Deep down though I wanted to see my home world again. This energy you created drew me to this place, it knew that this would give me that feeling of being home. This feeling is the same I got when I found my brethren. This Omnillium you created, it truly is a masterpiece." Eon fell to his back and let the sensation of 'home' sink in, although it may not be his true home, it was a calming moment. A short lived moment...
"Omnillium you say!!" A voice cried out in a mocking tone interrupting Eon's bliss. "Hey boys! We got ourselves a fresh one!" Eon opened his eyes to see five, less than savory looking, individuals standing around him, slowly closing in.
Now these guys remind me of home in a whole different kind of way.
"Gawsh! How can ya tell Pete??" A lanky figure in a straw brimmed hat leaned over sniffing the air.
It hasn't even been a half a day being here and I'm about to get jumped 100ft from the door I just walked through.
"Just look at them there cloths Ray! They ain't seen a lick of wear and tear. He must have ourselves a Premature Prime! Easy pickins." The man named Pete was a burlier man, rugged face, wearing a vest and some type of armored pants and boots. His ensemble, most likely, pieced together by stealing it from others these men had ambushed.
You have no idea who these guys are, their status in this place. They're clearly not the most intelligent but what if ones the "son of the guy" or something. Don't cause trouble, do like the Doctor always told you. First try kindness.
Eon sat up and addressed the men, "Hello! Nice to meet you, Pete was it? and you're Ray? I didn't catch the other three's names. You call me a 'Premature Prime', what is that?" Laughter erupted from the five men, snorting and coughing filling the area. A third man wore a hooded poncho and had to weight at least 300 lbs. The fourth was a short man with a mustache, wearing green helmet of some sort. The last must have been the biggest, in terms of physique, with massive masculine arms.
"You gotta be kiddin' me! You just popped!? We are the first people you have encountered, didn't even bother to talk to nobody in the Nexus? You a Prime, that's what you are knucklehead *Laughs* What awful luck to end up walking through the Gateway to The Endless Dunes." Pete slung his odd gun over his shoulder, as he did Eon noticed the weapon was identical to the ones carried by the White Soldiers...
"Dunes, Nexus, I am a Prime. So you're Primes too? Brought here by Omni." Eon took in the situation, five men armed with guns... no only three had guns, the other two had blades of some kind. Strange... "Shouldn't we be friends?" The laughter exploded even louder than before.
"Stop! *Laughing* you bout made me mess my pants! *Laughing fades* You really gonna owe me for this school teachin I'm given you blondie. We ain't no Primes, we called Seconds. We're here cuz another Prime like you brought us here." They were within about ten yards of Eon now. One began to tremble for some reason.
"Boss... that hair and eyes... ain't that... ain't that the 'King of the Dunes'?" Eon's brow raised, all the men stopped their advancement after this comment. Pete looked at his boys and rubbed his hand over his face. He thoroughly scanned Eon up and down, stopping to fixate on the two revolvers.
They think I'm someone else? I mean, they may not be the sharpest tools in the box but hadn't they just deduced that he was freshly plucked from his world into this one? And who was this 'King of the Dunes' he resembled that brought so much fear in them?
"Look you numbnutt!", Pete pointed, "He carrying guns! Gilgamesh ain't never carried no gun! And that's the 'False King' you're talking about, and I heard he got banished! Not to mention this guy don't know his Oververse from his Pale Moors" The others murmured to each other in disbelief for a moment then relaxed and reverted their attention back to Eon.
"I appreciate you all of your help. If their is anything I can do to repay you all..." Eon looked at the men, eyes gleaning, ready and twitching to pull their weapons on him.
"Ya there is... You could let us eat you alive"

Darkness enshrouded the pair of us as we exited the gate with little warning or need for such. Rather it was a quiet entrance that allowed me to split my attention mainly upon the question brought before me and the gloom beyond. The dilemma that was Jade Harley and myself was something I hadn’t really deigned to think on. Despite the child like demeanor she took towards the English language, befitting that of a particularly hyperactive first year hopped up on cheering charms and pepper-up potion, the was a manner to her that belied something I couldn’t put my finger on yet.
“Her reactions to the images of Nippur are telling.” I said before pausing. Jade seemed earnestly forgiving even though she had been horrified at the sights she had seen through my perspective, even with what I had inflicted on others. “At the moment I have no intent, though access to her social network alone may prove to be a boon too big to shirk.”
If I were to be honest with myself she seemed far more companionable than Nealaphh itself. Her like I had met a time or two; naïve yes, but certainly worthwhile when properly directed. The key was to find out how to break them or learn what their limits were and stay strictly within those boundaries.
Breaking such people always resulted in something inferior, the Myrtle girl being a classic example which ultimately had been a mistake on my part. One I hoped hadn’t been recorded for the masses to see. If it had, then I had no choice but to make PR a main priority. Until I could confirm or deny either
Going from that experience alone, I put forward my census of the subject, and hopefully that would be last it would brought up. “If I had to say, she would best put to use doing what she already does well and nothing more. Any progress beyond that has to be made to seem that it was her own choice and no one else.” I said in a reasonable tone.
Glancing out the nearest window I saw the briefest sight of tree shaped shadows underneath us; obscured by the dense fog but to the far right I spied something else more important. The dim glow of human civilization. Each light was a dying star, huddling to conserve itself and not attract notice from larger forces that moved its fate along. From my readings I had a gleaming concept what those larger forces were. Though I myself was new to this world, I would see such petty weaknesses overcome.
However it was humanity that I required despite its many… failings. Though humanity might have been a stretch from what I’d seen. The Omniverse seemed to be all of Reality’s rubbish bin, dumping bits and bobs where it may, without thought or consequence. Mediocrity was to be the most I could expect from a lot of situations.
“Pray tell, where are we to coordinate shipments of the ore you requested?” I said finally over the silence that had fallen between us.
“Darkshire,” Nealaphh pulsed, the word seemed to carry a number of impressions and bits of knowledge that seemed to defy the capacity of sound alone. It was also enough for me to research upon the Dataverse, to which was to say, there was not much to go on. Hobble would be an accurate description comprised of mostly secondaries and rumors of a prime or two. But more than anything were the descriptions of monsters.
Perfect.
“Somewhere within range of that place would be ideal, with the Village between us and this Dracula fellow. A high hill overlooking a lake would be even better… but worse comes to worse I can engineer that myself.” I said as my words curled a grin upon my lips. Improvements were cheap, and I could feel the memory of my home coalesce and something about my omnilium resonated with it. It would be enough to ensure the construction of the entire structure from foundation to tower. Everything as I remembered it, perhaps more so.
Nealaphh resonated a telepathic hum before the chariot of his shifted in response. Obviously he had an idea of what I wanted in mind.

Out of the portal steps Nimo, bewildered and... slightly disappointed. The Prime had expected to feel ill, as if his stomach was left behind in the Nexus. What did he get? Nothing. He felt fine, taking the jump between verses like a champ.
The disappointment was forgotten in an instant. The smells... oh, the smells! It was so amazing to have all those smells bombard his senses at once. The light, muddled with shadow, shined upon the greenery of the world, the brown of dirt and gray of stone. So little true white, it made him realize just how empty and disheartening the Nexus had been. Left alone with his thoughts in a place like that, he surely would have gone stir crazy. Even beyond that, he could actually breath. If this had been his past life as David Schwitz, he would be sneezing or coughing. Either allergies or pollution. Nimo had no such flaw and this world seemed to be along his previous assumptions; medieval. Lots of wildlife, simple living and magic. He could almost smell the magic in the air - metaphorically. Great place for a new start.
Nimo wasted no time in adapting. He dashed off of the road and stripped out of his brown duster and white button up. It was too modern, he would never fit in wearing something so "space age" compared to these simple folk. Omni's words echoed once again in his mind. With Omnilium, he could have anything he wanted, right? How about a Ye Olde tunic? And maybe a hand sown leather vest? Maybe some loose fit clothe breeches and some comfy, yet era-appropriate footwear to boot.
So he began the mental legwork. His hands stretched out, clasping the air as if holding a shirt by its sleeves. He imagined it simple, a grungy white with a low neck. Something dashing, but not too much so. Long in the waist, but not too long... As Nimo imagines it, he can already see the cloth appear, almost weaving itself out of thin air. He knew better, it was the omnilium Omni had given him. As the tunic slowly took form, weaving from each hand before connecting and descending, the Prime realized this was no easy task. He did not feel drained of Omnilium, but it was so slow... it felt like Dialup without Satan's music destroying his hearing aid. Unlike Dialup though, he actually manages to complete his goal without wanting to chuck something out the window.
It took about an hour to whip up a full attire. Of course, he had decided to keep his boxer-briefs, for that mixture of support and comfort he doubted he could replicate. If this whole Hero business doesn't work out, I might just go into fashion, he mused with a smirk. The leather vest he wore was complete with a cloth lining, complete with a few pockets. One of which held a cache of cigars, another held his matches. Couldn't forget those bad boys.
