  Back to Blank
Posted by: Yukika Inoue - 01-08-2018, 05:19 PM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (1)

Upon entering the unending void of colorless hue, the huntress had to shield her eyes from the contrast to the Moors. She rubbed her eyes to adjust them to the brightness of the Nexus. The sickness she felt from her first visit here returned nigh instantly. The unended white background was unsettling, like a void of escapable limbo. People could be seen maneuvering in the distance in multiple directions. Pyrrha had no idea where to go from here. She still had no actual direction, and it made it hard to find the correct path for her to walk. There was always the simple idea of turning around and helping Evangeline, but she would rather get away from the cultists who attacked her. Their intentions were beyond the Huntress and that scared her, even more, to think about.

Pyrrha shook that off her mind. It was too much to think about right now and she had more urgent matters to attend to: Her amnesia. Finally deciding that her pointless pondering was getting her as far as someone could toss a boulder, she just began to start walking. At this point, going anywhere but the Nexus would be an improvement.

Looking for kind person to check current roster
Posted by: Carmelita - 01-08-2018, 01:08 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (3)

I received a message last year, after I had gone inactive but presumably before I was archived, asking me to update my roster.

While I think I know what to do to comply, that doesn't guarantee that nothing else has changed since I was archived.

If anyone's feeling bored/particularly helpful/like being owed a favour/all of the above, I'd really appreciate someone checking over my roster for anachronistic formatting.

Things I know I need to fix:
Removing level ( X )
Adding Consumed OM level ( X )

Sooooooo.... I’m thinking that I want an alt to help fill the time in between my posts as your truly, and wanted to hear some feedback on my options.

1.) Victoria Shrike: Steampunk vixen with a penchant for investigative journalism and sticking her nose in things that aren’t her business.

2.) David Mephala: Loud and bubbly Doctor with a love for alchemy

  The Enemy
Posted by: Sister Evangeline - 01-06-2018, 03:00 AM - Forum: The Astral Realm - Replies (4)

The sound of knocking pulled Evangeline’s attention to the door.

“My lady, the oil and soap you requested have arrived.” A masculine voice called from behind the door.

“Have the alchemists do as I instructed.” Evangeline called back. She wasn’t exactly in a position to answer, with only a white towel covering her still drying body as she stood, eyeing her discarded garments. “Grind the soap into a powder and then add it to the oil in a one to eight ratio by volume. Stir until it periodically until if forms a gel.”

The amount she required was impossible to make it all on her own, and even to feudal alchemists it was not a difficult task, just labour intensive. Which meant she was left with time, time to dwell on the revelations of the day. With a huff she walked over to the bed and collapsed backward onto it’s soft upholstery, all the while the image of the creature rose to the surface of her mind, Omni. Promises of eternal life providing it was entertained, and anything she wanted.

What you want most.

The words resonated. What Evangeline wanted most was a way back to the comfort of her sisters, or so she believed. Perhaps there was something within her that didn’t want to return. She considered the arduous nature of life in the 41st millenium, her mind always on guard for corrupting influences and her body always ready for war. It was an idea that she was able to quickly dismiss. Though the landscape was alien, the monsters were very familiar, and she felt no more at ease here than in the Imperium. The only difference was that she was alone. Perhaps she did want an escape from the Imperium, but it would not be to a place such as the Moor.

The thing she wanted most was definitely to return home. More than anything. It had been in the background as she pushed forward, like a little child calling out to her father. Something she had to ignore and drag with her as she pushed forward. Now in the quiet of an opulent room, as far as feudal standards go, she could entertain it. Indeed she had been for quite some time now. She wanted it, more than anything. So either the creature was lying to her or a path home was off the table.

Something simpler then. She cast her eyes back to the shield robes she’d left in a heap in the corner, festering in the rotten muck of the swamp. She knew it must be cast upon the fire yet she had not yet done so, and she knew the reason. It was not something like an attachment to the holy garment of her order. Her reason was vanity and comfort. Being born of nobility Evangeline had a taste for the finer things. High thread counts were the standard growing up, and she considered the clothing of the community leader on par with sackcloth. It was a line of thought that began many self-flagellation rituals, though her time in the Hospitalia only served to strengthen those notions. In practice, the cleaner and more well made her equipment and dressings were, the better the outcomes for the patient. Nonetheless, her instinctive vanity was a trait she felt was inappropriate for a sister of the Adepta Sororitas.

“Do not think of such things.”
A voice, feminine but abrasive, said in front of her.

The room had morphed into a small chapple. The walls and floor were made from white marble and the altars and pews made from Ivory. Each had an opulent golden trim. Coloured light filtered in through the stained glass windows, it was all slightly formless however, as though it was always a fuzzy mess until her eyes set upon that particular place, only to turn into liquid the moment she lifted them. Evangeline herself was 3 feet talk, hunched over at the altar and praying when she heard the voice.

“Your narcissism is an affront to the God Emperor. Cleanse such deviant thoughts from your mind lest I cleanse your presence from me with the flame.”

The woman was dressed in golden power armour with wings poking out either side of her shoulders. Again, much like the room the specifics were formless, save her face which was like a mirror.

“And here you are, moments after listening to the words of a formless creature to now follow the abominations instruction. Whatever gifts it offers are heretical, it’s powers obscene.”

“I know that!” the child protested apologetically, with tears in her eyes, streaming down her face “But I am alone, and face the ruinous powers.” She pleaded with the angelic figure “What would you have me do? Use the muskets of these men to defeat the great evil?”

The angelic figure was silent. She wanted to say ‘Have faith that the Emperor will save you.’ but the lack of warmth she felt from the astronomican gave her pause.

“I was fighting agents of Tzeentch.”
The angel said with with the same tenor as before. “I cannot assume that this isn’t some ruse by one of their magicians, to turn me from the emperor’s light."

The child wiped her eyes clear and stood up. “On the off chance it isn’t, don’t I also have a responsibility to the innocents of this world?” She asked with a slightly sheepish, shaking voice.

“This power cannot be trusted. I cannot risk being tainted by it.” The angel became dismissive.

“I already am.” The child straightened up “My tooth was healed. And apparently I’m reborn when killed. This power is already woven into my being.”

“If that’s the case then I should end it now. Put this rebirth to the test.” The angel’s infection was hesitant.

“If not me then who will protect the villagers? No one else understands the threat the rot poses.” The child said with a determined voice.

The cathedral shattered in a moment and everything regained its focus. Evangeline's mind was no longer split into to two, now only she remained, the hospitalia dressed in Sororitas armour. Her thoughts became lucid and she recognised that she was dreaming, but the dream had suddenly taken a different turn.

This Thing Don't Look So Tough
Posted by: China - 01-05-2018, 10:47 PM - Forum: The Pale Moors - Replies (53)

Myst pulled him through the gate after her, even as China continued to fight to restrain himself. He didn't want to disappoint master. No, he must not disappoint master. He needed her, more than he ever had his first master. Being abandoned by the Archmage had meant being exposed to a world of unknown dangers and horrible scary things... but being abandoned by the Hell Fairy would mean no more shiny lights that made him feel all good inside... and that was clearly far worse.

The thing was, he was now afraid that he already had disappointed her; he had had such difficulty not eating the touchy-feely girl that he hadn't even noticed that Clownpiece (and that evil, mean, nasty friend of hers, who wouldn't be nice even to someone as wonderful as master) had already headed off for the gate without him... what if she thought he preferred the company of Cassa... Sassa... Indra...? He couldn't remember her first name. It was too long, and not made up of nice, simple words like his master's...

Anyway. Given how upset Clownpiece had been by Dane touching the touchy girl, she really might get angry if she saw China also touching her... what if she started thinking that everyone preferred this other person to her?

She might even think that he was as mean and horrible as Dane was! But what could he do about it? He didn't want to yank his hand away from Myst, unless he accidentally broke her... then the Hell Fairy would certainly be upset; with all her magic, his master surely could have easily killed this person herself if she had actually wanted Cassomething dead. The fact that she had not done so could only mean that she must not want to slay her, even though Myst being around seemed to result only in unhappiness for Clownpiece...

Oh yes, his master was such an amazing and kind person... in fact, she was so generous that China felt the sudden urge to make sure that this touchy-feely girl knew just how lucky she was to have been allowed to accompany the Marvellous Clownpiece and her friend, the Great Dane, on their journey.

“You-you so much-many lucky, yes-yes.” he said in a tone as close to a growl as his breathy, whispering voice could produce, whilst turning to look across at Myst, his one remaining eye narrowed. She walked beside him as they followed the others through these cloudy, wet and windy plains. With him no longer needing to try and stand tall to intimidate the fast one, China had reverted to walking on all six limbs, and so at this point he actually had to look up slightly in order to meet the girl's gaze, “Master is many kind-nice for not kill and-and eat such tasty yum-yum as soon as meet-find. So Myst-person better be good and not steal-steal all touch-touching away from master, okay-yes?”

"Oui... Oui Afrátos..." Casanova replied, her voice timid and soft, as she backed away a little, her small hand slipping from his grasp as she finally seemed to realise that he was actually a dangerous hungry person and not just some adorable little prey food for her to play with.

The others could hardly have failed to notice her sudden change in demeanour, or the way she had backed off rather than continue walking forwards, even if they hadn't all heard the words of the Ceramic Beast for themselves. As they had all been within a couple metres of one another, however, even China's quiet voice could travel that distance, despite the rain falling all around them.

Dane turned slowly to face the Ceramic Beast, one hand falling to the shortsword which hung at his side. Before he could speak, however, the Hell Fairy beat him to the punch.

“Sh-shut up, Afrátos! Don't go saying dumb stuff like that! I'm a fairy of Hell! It's not like I really care about silly little things like head pats. Now, c-come over here like a good boy!” his master's cheeks had turned slightly red as she spoke, which China – who knew nothing of embarrassment – could only assume meant she was angry at him... an assumption which was seemingly supported by the volume of her yells.

Cowering more than a little, the Ceramic Beast slunk forwards after Clownpiece, head hanging dejectedly and both tails between his legs... he had only tried to do good, but had instead managed to point out her enjoyment of physical contact to everyone... he had noticed this himself, so he had simply assumed that it was something everyone would know. How moronic of him! It was absurd to think that in the extremely short period of time he had spent in this strange place, he somehow could have forgotten how much more intelligent he was than the two-leg foods.

Of course people as simple-minded as Dane, Casablanca & Renko would never pick up on something that had taken even a brilliant thinker such as himself so long to deduce... and now he had accidentally given up his master's one and only weakness to these untrustworthy people. Dane, especially, seemed like the sort who would be cruel and callous enough to exploit such knowledge however he could.

“Nooo, silly-silly me, why have go say stupid-fool thing like that! Dumb-idiot people all know super hidden secret-secret now... poor master. Me feel-feel so much bad-nasty...” China muttered to himself as he stared glumly at the muddy grass at his feet, not even seeming to realise that he was speaking aloud.

The Great Dane simply rolled his eyes and turned away, starting moving off towards their destination – wherever that was – once again, whilst Renko did her best to innocuously sidle into a position which put the fast one between her and the Ceramic Beast... just to be on the safe side.

As they followed him, China heard a quiet cough from his master and glanced over and up at her; given the long, wet grass and mud through which the rest of them were striding, she had understandably chosen to fly for the time being. He noticed immediately that she was still slightly red-faced, and then spotted the hand that she held outstretched just a little in his direction... as though inviting him to hold it. Tentatively, and after using a tuft of wet grass to clean mud from his palm, he reached over and took that tiny hand in his own, much larger, one. Though she said nothing in response, she did appear to relax a little, which in turn calmed his own fears of being hated by her...

They didn't have much longer left to travel, though, it turned out, with the plains soon being replaced with abandoned fields, and then, a little later, actual fields, which had clearly seen use recently. From one of these the little group crossed over onto a pathway that quickly led them into some sort of walled city.
Had China been able to read, he would have realised that the signpost just a little way outside proclaimed the place to be named 'Darkshire'.

Drake Oneir Gets a Phone Call
Posted by: Kopaka - 01-05-2018, 10:14 PM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (5)

A one-armed man leaned heavily on the balcony of his third floor apartment on one of the more heavily neon-lit alley streets of Coruscant's Tier Four. There was a light stubble on his face, his skin was a chocolatey brown, and his hair was buzzed short. He wore a dark grey newsie cap, had chapped lips wrapped around an unlit cigarette, and there was a loose, slightly stained tank shirt draped around his boney shoulders.

His left arm is heavily muscled, as is the rest of his body, but somehow this does not diminish his gaunt and haggard appearance. Thick, working hands currently ensured that his dwindling piss stream fell down to the shadowed sidewalks below as extremely stylish grey denim jeans lay around the ankles of his cybernetic legs.

This, then, was Drake Oneir, and if this is too much for you to handle already, then spare yourself reading further. We needn't elaborate too much on why he was currently pissing off the balcony, save for the fact that his landlord hadn't fixed the water yet and we REALLY needn't discuss the bathroom situation.

It was seven thirty in the morning, not that arbitrary time intervals meant much in the eternal disk of this tier. That was okay, it just made Drake feel more entitled to wend his way back to the fridge and take a pull on a bottle of gin before picking at a three day old tray of sushi with his fingers. A buzz emanated from his left pocket and Drake flipped out his DV phone, holding it with his shoulder while he chewed on a piece of not-quite-still-good octorock. Happy thoughts.

"Myeah?"

"Drosselmeyer?"

Drake chewed for a moment longer and swallowed slowly. He had a lot of different names for different clients. Only the intel branch of the EPD referred to him as Drosselmeyer.

"Oh shit, what's good Sugar Plum?" Drake hooted while slamming his fridge shut. The slightly annoyed female voice on the other end did not respond to the flattery. Nobody knew about the damn Nutcracker in this fucking universe.

"We have a job that suits you. How's your schedule?"

"Booked solid. Why?"

It wasn't true but he said this anyway. Helped gauge how desperate they were and how profitable the job would be.

"Clear your schedule. We're going to need you working the streets in Nippur."

"Oh okay. So I'll just drop everything I have going on and walk into a war zone. Got it."

There was a long silence.

"So you're not going to take the job."

"I didn't say that."

"Your tone indicated–"

"My tone! Sugar Plum, I didn't realize we'd gotten so close."

"So you are taking the job?"

"I didn't say that."

"Drosselmeyer. Please cooper–"

"I am cooperating! You're the one getting into tones and jumping to conclusions. I'm starting to take this personally."

"Why are you making this so difficult?"

"I'm not!"

"We'll contract you to a new Sire if you do this job, plus expenses covered."

Oh, well now they had Drake's attention. Truth be told, he didn't have a lot planned for the next few weeks, and he wasn't hurting too bad for cash right now. His comparatively squalid lifestyle was one of choice, rather than out of desperation; it made it much easier to up sticks and get out of dodge if the walls started closing in from all the people he may not have been double crossing at any given time. Granted, he'd been a tad less ornery than usual lately because his previously contracted Prime Sire had spirited up into the great Omknown without so much as text message. Having the EPD contract a new Prime into resummoning him if he died was the most valuable thing he could think of at the moment. It did, of course, beg the question of when the EPD had figured out his true identity, but that didn't matter. It had been bound to happen sooner or later.

"Okeedoke. Leaving immediately?" Drake spoke into the receiver after a solid minute. Sugar Plum was immediately ten shades more pleasant.

"No. You should have a few days to get things pulled together. You'll be working with an EPD Prime Agent in Nippur, so we'll be sure to send pertinents along when we get our own ideas gathered." Sugar Plum said. Drake nodded to himself idly while he washed his hand with some bottled water.

"Sounds posh as hell babe, but uh, can I get any more of an assignment than 'working the streets'?"

"Information gathering on local crime activity and palace affairs. The usual stuff, Drosselmeyer. We don't expect there to be much trouble, but it's the Dunes, so pack whatever means of defense you think are best. This is all deniable, of course, so try not to shoot any viziers."

"Can I get a monkey in a fez and vest too?" Drake asked. Sugar Plum was used to this kind of bullshit.

"Cute, but we'll warn you; your Prime contact won't be as lighthearted as me, so this is one you don't want to piss off." Sugar Plum said in a tone that sounded slightly more serious than her usual Ben Stein deadpan. Drake chuckled.

"Darling, the only things I piss off are balconies."

"What does that even mean– oh god."

"Have a nice day, Sugar Tits." Drake snapped before clapping the DV phone shut and shoving it back into his pocket. Drake cracked his neck with a rolling twitch. Alright. Time to suit up. With grand, purposeful strides, the smuggler and informant strode over to his closet, threw on a light jacket, and that was it. Done. Suited up. Oh wait, he needed his attache bag too, of course. The familiar weight of plastic explosives and a small plasma pistol settled onto his shoulders as he wrenched open the door to the hallway and slammed it shut.

Drake coughed loudly on the elevator ride down to the garage level. The smell of paint fumes were quite strong and growing stronger, and it wasn't until he got closer to his personal Skybike that he realized the source. Zuke, the apartment building's pet delinquent, was throwing up some stupid new tag on the side of the gleaming black vehicle.

"Dammit Zuke! I told you if you're gonna tag my bike at least make it good! Fuck's sake man." Drake said, reaching into his bag and firing a few bolts of white-hot plasma in the teenager's general direction. The bored kid scrambled away with the fear for his life as Drake tossed his bag into the cargo boot of the hovering jet motorcycle and saddled up. The Endless Dunes were gonna make for a lot of long, boring rides. As the engines spun up with a shrill whine, the smuggler cycled through the vehicle's digital memory to make sure his extensive music library was all there. Smiling, he picked that one song by Wild Cherry (Really the only song by Wild Cherry that matters) as the canopy slid shut and the garage was filled with the furious vacuum wind of bajillion horsepower turbines.

Of course, wasn't going to the Endless Dunes just yet...he had some things he needed to prepare first.

  Sensational Death
Posted by: Ash - 01-05-2018, 07:33 PM - Forum: The Astral Realm - No Replies

Ash felt her existence surrounded by empty darkness once more. She sensed her body was suspended in the air with her head being closer to gravity than her feet. The demonic humanoid could tell you this was so, not because she could see anything, but because she could feel her hair being held aloft. She didn’t feel any pressure on the top of her skull, but she knew this was not the same as before.

By that, she understood that she died again.

Death was a lot more interesting than she initially thought, as morbid as that was to consider. It hurt, but only for a moment. It was euphoric.

Yet, she felt so… Dull at that moment.

  EPD Assignments
Posted by: Kopaka - 01-05-2018, 01:01 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (1)

So!

Being part of the EPD is all well and good, but I feel a tad uncomfortable since I'm not sure how much I can act on 'behalf' of the Empire, presuming myself to have been given assignments by them, before I cross the line of hijacking the faction completely.

I mean, what I'm getting at is that, I would like Kopaka to do things for the EPD based on assignments given to him, but since I'm the one making those assignments up, I don't want to go too far and basically give Kopaka Empire backup for any old objective I want to complete in the Omniverse.

I realize this comes down to a trust thing, but for the sake of my anxiety I'd like to have it down on paper. For reference, and you may have already gathered this, my current storyline is having Kopaka scout out the city of Nippur and figure out the socio-political landscape in the hopes of formulating the plan for establishing and Imperial garrison there.

It's my opinion that the Empire has things locked up pretty tight at home right now, so they would be interested in shoring up their presence in their other client verses. Since making Nippur not only safe and orderly but also allied to the Empire would go a long way towards this, I feel like this would be a valid task to give to an agent like Kopaka.

But uh...lemme know. It's not like I'm expecting to have brigades of stormtroopers at my command (at least not until Forces goes live.)
