Eowyn
Posted by: Éowyn - 01-03-2018, 02:58 AM - Forum: Joining - Replies (1)

CHARACTER NAME: Eowyn of the House of Eorl

CHARACTER SOURCE: The Lord of the Rings (specifically the novels over the movies)

CHARACTER HISTORY:
{taken from Wikipedia with slight modifications}
In The Two Towers, Éowyn, a daughter of the House of Eorl and the goddaughter of King Théoden of Rohan, is introduced in Meduseld, the king's hall at Edoras. She was the daughter of Théodwyn (Théoden's sister) and Éomund and the sister of Éomer. When she was only seven years old, her father was killed fighting orcs and her mother died of grief. Éowyn and Éomer were raised in her uncle's household as if they were his own children.
Tolkien writes that she longed to win renown in battle—especially since she was royal—but being female, her duties were reckoned to be at Edoras. When Théoden's mind was poisoned by his adviser Gríma Wormtongue, Éowyn was obliged to care for her uncle, and his deterioration pained her deeply. To make matters worse, she was constantly harassed by Gríma, who lusted after her. However, when Gandalf arrived, he freed Théoden from Wormtongue's influence.
Éowyn fell in love with Aragorn, but it soon became clear that he could not return her love although he did not mention his betrothal to Arwen, except by indirect allusion, and would not allow her to join him in going to war. As Aragorn pointed out, her duty was with her people; she had to shoulder the responsibility of ruling Rohan in Théoden's stead when the war-host of Rohan went to war, a duty he deemed no less valiant. Likening her situation to a "cage", Éowyn said she feared "[t]o stay behind bars, until use and old age accept them, and all chance of great deeds is gone beyond recall or desire".
In The Return of the King, she disguised herself as a man and, under the alias of Dernhelm (from Old English dern meaning "secret, concealed"), travelled with the Riders of Rohan to the Battle of the Pelennor Fields outside the White City of Minas Tirith in Gondor, carrying with her Meriadoc Brandybuck, who had also been ordered to remain behind, on her horse Windfola. It was during the peak of the battle of Pelennor fields, moments prior to her confrontation with the Witch-King of Angmar, that Omni transported Eowyn to the Omniverse.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:

Éowyn is described to be very beautiful; she was tall, slim, pale, and graceful, with long golden hair and grey eyes. In temperament she was idealistic, spirited, brave and high-minded, but very lonely, having sacrificed her own happiness for years to care for her sick uncle and meet the responsibilities of a shield-maiden. When engaging in more courtly affairs, Eowyn often wears a plain white dress, embroidered with silver. However she prefers a more functional vest and skirt combination of a muted color. When engaging battle she wears a horse hair helm, durable chainmail and leather jerkin with the emerald cape characteristic of the Rohirrim.

STATS:
ATK: 2
DEF: 4
SPD: 1
TEC: 3

STARTING PROFICIENCIES:

Physical Strength (1000 OM)
Ranged Proficiency (1000 OM)
Buff Proficiency (400 OM)

STARTING POWERS:

STARTING MOVES:
Forth Eorlingas! (requires Buff proficiency, 300 OM)
Though not yet experienced in the commanding of large scale forces, Eowyn nethertheless bears the presence of the House of Eorl, and with it a voice that can command. This cry, accompanied by a suitably dramatic gesture, (such as the presentation of a banner or a defeated enemy captain) can help to signal a shift in a battle. The cry is audible for 15 meters around, and will lend a second wind to those who can hear it, strengthening their resolve, and empowering them for a charge to break a formation of all but the strongest troops. Due to the nature of Omniphysics, Eowyn is actually diffusing her own power

Ashen Spear (requires physical strength, ranged proficiency, 600 OM)
A sturdy six foot length of Ashen wood, braced with iron and tipped with a wide broad blade 20 cm in length and tapering from 12 cm at the base of the blade to about 5 cm at its tip. the blade is better suited for a mounted charge than for a defensive line or extensively fighting on foot. It can be wielded one-handed, in conjunction with a shield or reins, but with somewhat drastic reductions in mobility as a result.
The spear, though somewhat heavy, can be thrown accurately to about 20 meters.

Hasuhyrne, blade of the mark (requires physical strength, 300 OM)
(Literally “the grey corner”)
A full hand-and-a-half blade, almost a meter in length, this tempered iron blade can be wielded with a shield, or held with a two-handed fighting stance with equal effectiveness. the sword is double bladed, with a heftier weight that makes it more durable and powerful, but slower than is perhaps average for a blade in the Omniverse. The weapon is designed to batter away defenses rather than foil them. The hilt is approximately 8 inches in length, with a pair of curving horses making the cross guard. The blade widens from about 3 inches at cross guard down to an inch and a half and the tip of the blade. An Heirloom of the house of Eorl, Hasuhyrne is of excellent make and can withstand severe damage before shattering.

Great shield of Rohan (requires physical strength, 300 OM)
A sturdy wooden shield, about a meter in diameter with a metal band along the rim. The front is painted an emerald green with the white steed of the house of Eorl. The shield is study, and can withstand a solid beating, but it might very well splinter under enough stress, and though it has been sealed in an effort to prevent this, it isn’t impervious to fire, and will catch light if exposed to it for long.

December Monthly Accolades (Until January 8th)
Posted by: The Vision - 01-02-2018, 01:51 PM - Forum: Bookkeeping Archive - Replies (19)

For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.

You have until January 8th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:

(07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum.  In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse.  This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for Story Aides and Story Guides, so for all intents and purposes, winning an accolade lets you become a pseudo-Story Aide for the duration of your reign.

Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.

And the categories are:

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?

Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.

Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half OR have less than 8000 OM)

'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining? Dark Data is excluded from the running.

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.

Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; the November winner was Dane Regan)

Most Festive - Which member displayed the most Christmas spirit?

Bravely Default - Who ya gonna call?
Posted by: Jams Bolero - 01-02-2018, 12:51 AM - Forum: The Arcade - No Replies

For those who never heard about it or simply forgot it existed, Bravely Default is a turn-based RPG very similar to Final Fantasy (probably because it's from Square Enix).  It has a notable gameplay feature in its "brave and default" system, where players can spend turns to attack more and sooner, or save them up to use at a later time.  We're not gonna talk about that.  As is a common staple of Final Fantasy since it's [actual] third installment, Bravely Default borrows the job system where all the fighters can become a certain class whenever they want.  Maybe you want Edea part knight, part thief?  What if you want to make Ringabel a merchant so he can buy out the local brothel?  Perhaps you'd like to say "screw it" to reason and never give Agnes a proper magic class in the game?  All of this is up to you, and you can choose how you want to play at any moment you desire.

But that got me thinking: if the characters have unique stats, then which characters are best suited to each job in particular?  Of the four in the game- Tiz, Agnes, Ringabel, and Edea- what are their strongest suits in regards to jobs?  This thread will serve as a record of my studies, as I play through the game and analyze each of the specific classes from the lens of every playable ally.

First up, we have their base stats.  Each character has 8 of them: HP, MP, strength, vitality, intelligence, mind, dexterity, and agility.  For more details, Gamer Guides has a nice description of each stats that will be linked at the end of the thread.  Each base stat has someone higher in it than the rest of the party, and most of them have a second best (though two end in ties).  The order of stats will be (Tiz / Agnes / Ringabel / Edea), with the owner of the first and second highest stat-holders mentioned right after (their stats will also be formatted accordingly).

Quote:BASE STATS DATA
---
HP:   (271 / 244 / 259 / 247) - Tiz, Ringabel
MP:   (71 / 84 / 80 / 80) - Agnes, Ringabel+Edea
Str:   (12 / 10 / 11 / 13) - Edea, Tiz
Vit:   (12 / 10 / 11 / 13) - Edea, Tiz
Int:   (11 / 13 / 12 / 10) - Agnes, Ringabel
Mnd: (12 / 13 / 10 / 11) - Agnes, Tiz
Dex:  (12 / 10 / 13 / 11) -  Ringabel, Tiz
Agi:   (10 / 10 / 13 / 10) - Ringabel, Everyone else
*The above information was gathered with all characters at level 6, each with level 1 in all jobs.

Based on the above information, we can infer the following:
1) Tiz best plays a jack of all trades, as he shows consistency in having second-best stats.  His HP is his only excelling factor, but then again his only low points are MP and intelligence.
2) Agnes is clearly the best in terms of magical ability; she has the top scores in MP, intelligence and mind, and is likely best suited for magical classes.
3) Ringabel works best with jobs that require high speed and dexterity (like the thief.)  He can work well in magic as well, second best in MP and intelligence, but his dreadful mind stat is a large setback.
4) Edea has the best chances with physical combat, having good strength and vitality.  It is nigh essential to keep her on some physical class, as the only area she comes second is is MP, and even then she's tied with Ringabel.

However, none of this matters if we do not analyze the classes themselves.  After all, not every class is neatly divided into "magic," "physical," "swift," etc.  Classes like the spell fencer are mainly physical with an emphesis on magical buffs to the sword.  So, with this in mind, I will also go over each of the classes in the game.  As of now, however, I am nowhere close to completing it, and something tells me I'm in it for the long haul before all the jobs are unlocked.  As such, this thread will be occasionally updated with new information to stay up to date.  At the end, I will reevaluate all the jobs at that level to ensure that these trends are stable overall.  Stats will be listed identically to the base stats, but will also be colored based on whether they are buffed, nerfed, or are not changed at all; blue for buff, red for debuff, black for naught.

---

JOB ONE: Freelancer
Freelancers are the most basic class of all, relying entirely on base stats from the outset.  Notable features include:
-Boosts to HP when leveling up the job
-Late Bloomer: ability which add a 1% buff to all stats for every job mastered thus far.

Level One

Quote:The stats are identical to the ones above, as it gives no bonuses or detractions at level 1.

Current Thoughts:
Save this for last, that's when it gets the most benefit.  I will keep this on level one for the entirety of my study until it is the last job left, as it serves as the only job with basic stats.  Yes, there is a place to see the default stats beside the ones altered by your job, but... um... yeah.  Anyways.
JOB TWO: Monk
Monks are warriors who generally fight best with fists alone.  Notable features include:
-Buffs to HP, strength, vitality, agility
-Hits to MP, intelligence, mind
-Knuckle Lore: Apt at using knuckle weapons; the value of your level doubled is added to your attack stat (not strength) when unarmed.

Level One
Quote:HP: (352 / 317 / 336 / 321) - Tiz, Ringabel
MP: (49 / 58 / 56 / 56) - Agnes, Ringabel+Edea
Str: (15 / 13 / 14 /  16) - Edea, Tiz
Vit: (14 / 12 / 13 / 15) - Edea, Tiz

Int: (6 / 7 / 7 / 6) - Agnes+Ringabel
Mnd: (9 / 10 / 8 / 8) - Agnes, Tiz

Dex: (12 / 10 / 13 / 11) - Ringabel, Tiz
Agi: (12 / 12 / 15 / 12) - Ringabel, Everyone else
*The above information was gathered with all characters at level 6.

Current Thoughts:
Tiz and Edea are neck and neck, I would say.  On one hand, Tiz gains more health to further boost his high HP, and his strength and vitality are up to snuff.  Edea, on the other hand, can hit harder and take less damage, but if you're fighting a strong opponent then her high defense won't make up for her low HP.  I generally go with Tiz, as by the time I unlock Edea I'll have already gotten a couple of levels in the job for Tiz.  However, either is a good pick for different reasons.  Ringabel wouldn't be a half-bad choice, but monk is clearly not his path to stardom.  Basically, what I'm saying is don't choose Agnes for this.  Please.  You shouldn't be so hard on yourself.
JOB THREE: White Mage
White Mages give up their compitency with stick fighting to use it a different way; they suck at fighting, but are notably good at healing their team of ailments or damage.  Notable features include:
-Buffs to MP, intelligence, mind.
-Debuffs to strength, vitality, dexterity.
-Ability to cast white magic.
-Self Healing: Removes status ailments after the battle.

Level One
Quote:HP: (271 / 244 / 259 / 247) - Tiz, Ringabel
MP: (92 / 109 / 104 / 104) - Agnes, Ringabel+Edea
Str: (8 / 7 / 7 / 9) - Edea, Tiz
Vit: (7 / 6 / 6 / 7) - Edea+Tiz
Int: (13 / 15 / 14 / 12) - Agnes, Ringabel
Mnd: (15 / 16 / 13 / 14) - Agnes, Tiz
Dex: (9 / 8 / 10 / 8) - Ringabel, Tiz
Agi: (10 / 10 / 13 / 10) - Ringabel, Everyone else
*The above information was gathered with all characters at level 6.

Current Thoughts:
Agnes is a perfect candidate for white mage based on stats alone, so that much is easy to note.  Second best might actually be Tiz, for the sole reason that he can take more of a beating.  White mages are not known for their defensive capabilities, but you would at least like them to take a hit.  Tiz has the best health and second best mind stat of them all, and with these base stats a single point can make a huge difference.  Ringabel has a little more MP, sure, but the truth is his mind stat just doesn't do that well, especially when mind determines the power of healing spells.  All in all, I would say give Tiz a staff over Ringa-ding-ding.
JOB FOUR: Black Mage
Black mages use the arcane in an offensive manner by burning, freezing and electrocuting all in their path, as well as causing status effects.  Notable features include:
-Buff to MP, intelligence, mind.
-Debuff to strength, vitality, dexterity.
-Ability to cast black magic.
-Black Resonance: Deal more magic damage with each black mage in your party.

Level One

Quote:HP: (271 / 244 / 259 / 247) - Tiz, Ringabel
MP: (92 / 109 / 104 / 104) - Agnes, Ringabel+Edea
Str: (7 / 6 / 6 / 7) - Edea, Tiz
Vit: (7 / 6 / 6 / 7) - Edea+Tiz
Int: (14 / 16 / 15 / 13) - Agnes, Ringabel
Mnd: (14 / 15 / 12 / 13) - Agnes, Tiz
Dex: (9 / 8 / 10 / 8) - Ringabel, Tiz
Agi: (10 / 10 / 13 / 10) - Ringabel, Everyone else
*The above information was gathered with all characters at level 6.

Current Thoughts:
This class is, obviously, Agnes' territory once more.  However, it is important to note that this job has more limitations than its brighter counterpart.  While white mages excel in staves but can use rods competently, black mages are great with rods but sub-par skill with staves.  On top of this, you have better strength values on white mages than black.  Is this something to fuss over?  Maybe, maybe not, but it is important to bring up because its ability, "Black Resonance," increases the power of dark magic with each black mage on the field.  It's generally not good to go with a team of all four mages, but if you want to take advantage of the skill, Ringabel's high intelligence makes him a good companion to Agnes.  Tiz is also a good option again, since he can still take a hit, and his white magic is still quite effective if you taught him some beforehand.
JOB FIVE: KNIGHT
(to be updated in the future)

The Good, The Bad, and The Chiseled
Posted by: Gaston - 01-01-2018, 12:42 AM - Forum: The Tangled Green - Replies (3)

Gaston rode into town on a horse, the sun (or what little that was that was able to shine through the treetops) beating down on his back. He was greeted by a great divide. On one side was a group of labourers, gruff and large men with a few smaller people giving out commands. On the other was a large and varied group of workers, each one communicating with laughs and with no apparent leaders. And in the centre was a building, with a poorly written "SALOON" sign hanging on its side. Wary, he set off into the Saloon, converting his horse back into raw Omnilium.

When Gaston entered the bar itself, he saw immediately a fight going on. A large, gruff-looking human facing off against a smaller elf, who was grinning madly.

"Fifty coins on the big one!" Gaston looked over and saw a crowd watching the fight. The human was apparently winning, having slammed the elf onto the ground. But the elf made a quick hand motion and the human fell to the ground, paralysed. He hopped up and walked over to the human, making yet another motion and kicking the larger man. The man was set aflame and screamed. But somehow the flame never reached the ground, staying contained on the man's body. Soon, his screams were silenced as his body contorted into a black and shrivelled corpse. The elf bowed in front of the crowd, where several other people, primarily elves, were watching. They had bloodthirsty grins and several tossed coins in the elf's direction. He let out a toothy smile and collected the money, before heading to the bar.

"Argonian ale. Make it fast!" The barkeep nodded silently, pouring a glass full of the sickly thick black stuff, then handing it to the elf who tossed a few coins at her. "It'll be extra if you take that shirt off!" He laughed as he took a drink of the ale. The barkeep rolled her eyes and collected the coins, which had fallen on the ground.

Gaston stepped further inside and looked around. Aside from a few orcs sitting at their own table and the now-dead human, it was all elves. A child approached him, holding out a cracked ceramic bowl containing a few slimy coins. She seemed like a beggar of some kind but stopped her wide eyes and pitiful look when she saw him.

"You're a stranger. We don't like strangers around here." She grinned at him. "Better watch out."

"Ha! You think anyone here can hurt me? The great Gaston? I doubt it!" He pushed her away and walked to the bar, sitting on a stool and pulling a small pouch of pre-summoned coins from his waist. "Hey! Bartender! I want you to take the strongest whisky you have, and mix it with beer!"

She looked at him with a strange look.

"You sure? We elves aren't exactly lightweights."

"And neither am I!" She complied with his request, shaking her head. The barkeep handed the frothing liquid to him, and he tossed the pouch onto the counter. "You can take it all!"

"Okay, what's up? You're fucking with me or something. Right?" Gaston didn't answer. He was too busy chugging the cup of dark alcohol.

"You can take it all because that's not my only drink! More!" He had already downed the entire glass and set it down on the counter.

"No sir, I...I really think you should stop."

"What did I say?!" She stepped back and grabbed the glass, raising her eyebrows. But as he said, she filled the cup back up. This time, though, he only drank half of the glass, turning to the elf who had gotten into a brawl.

"Hey, uh, skinny man! What... what's going on in the town?" He took another swig.

"You wanna know what's going on around here? Well, well, well! You're a newcomer! Yeah, we don't get many of those! But I bet you are wondering if that human was a newcomer! And yes, he was! Now,-"

"Shut it!" Gaston said. "Just, just tell me what the... the town is!"

"Heh, so you're sassing me!"

"What? Nobody passed you, we...we're not playing uh, card-Barkeep, more! The whole bottle!" The barkeep, now having given up, complied and passed him the bottle of ale. He chugged it in one gulp and turned to the elf. "You wanna fight! I'll fight you!"

"Eh? We gotta fighter! A fighter here! OOH, YEAH! I'LL TAKE YOU DOWN, BIG BOY!" The elf jumped down from the bar stool he was at and raised up his fists, hopping around mockingly. Gaston was slower to get up but still made his way over, stumbling. "Alright, big human man! No weapons, and if you lose, I kill ya! It's simple!"

"Okay, little al-elffff man. I'll...I'll fight ya! I'll take ya down!" The elf spared no chance for him to talk, jumping up and headbutting him in the gut. "Ugh!"

"Big man talk a big talk, but can't fight a little man! Ha!"

"Sh...shut up! I don't talk big you can't do that!" Gaston jumped at him, his super jumping still in effect. He tackled the elf, slamming them both into the ground and causing the elf to hit his head.

"Agh! You damn idiot!" Gaston began whaling on him, punching with no remorse straight at his head. The elf soon got a black eye and a bruised lip. But he repeated a familiar hand gesture, and Gaston went limp, falling over. "Heh! And since you're such an asshole, I won't even kill ya yet! You gotta wait!" He slammed his foot into Gaston's head, but Gaston's healing had taken effect, and the paralysation wore off. He lifted his head up.

"What? Rabbit, no fighting! That's...that's for tricks!" (The healing had apparently not helped his brain)

"Impossible! Nobody can get out of my paralysing sign!"

"I... I tore down that sign! You can't write!" Gaston kneed the elf on the chin, then slapped him to the ground. "Stop being colours you're not a cube!" He stomped down on the elf's head, causing his skull to crack and him to completely die.

"I... I'm gonna take a sleep now." Gaston passed out on the floor, next to the body of his newest kill.

Paige Turner

Source: Original

History:
If you like probably six paragraphs of spoilers for something I may or may not ever finish in my existance, then strap yourself in.
Paige lived the first 18 years of her life on Earth in a relatively normal fashion; she had several close friends, enjoyed reading and indulging in scientific phenomena, and enjoyed the company of her cat before he passed away.  It wasn't until the day after her 18th birthday that she discovered a mysterious book adorned in gears and sand.  Its pages were empty, so she decided to keep it for herself and write in its pages.  Upon an accident she had later that day which resulted in her death, she awoke behind the pages of her book.  It turned out that it could revert time back to a previous point where she had signed her name automatically when she died.  More importantly, she could remember everything up to the moment she died even though the event wouldn't happen for a few hours.
Later that night, she awoke to find her parents dead.  The only clue leading to the murderer was a path of oil that led out toward a mysterious cave in the distance.  With this book, several utilities from around the house, and a friend or two on her side, she set out on a quest to find her parents, discover the origin of this book, and discover the true potential behind her mental time travelling abilities.
She explored several locales throughout her adventures, from the floating skylands to the twilit forest, eventually culminating in her arrival at the Clockworks, the end of time as it were.  On the surface it was a desert filled with gears and pipes spouting forth sand.  Underneath, a maze of metal platforms and gears suspended by wooden beams above a sea of sand which flowed from above.  Here, she met Horol, the mostly cybernetic creator of the temporal ledger who murdered her parents for stealing his book.  If she gives him the book, he would probably undo her input in the book and kill her on the spot, so she instead opts to kill him.
After this, she learns of a method to turn back time without dying, and goes back to save her parents.  In the process, that timeline's variant of Horol works as hard as possible to get the book back and prevent Paige from using it, as he realizes she now has the ability to fluidly alter reality.  Everything from large knights to capturing and manipulating her friends comes into play, but she overcomes it all.  She defeats the old cyborg again, but is now wondering what she may have missed along the way.  She goes back in time again, not to save her parents but simply to indulge in the world that she never got to fully engage in.
Many timelines pass, and the snarky but well-meaning Paige has become rather abusive and callous.  Sometimes she kills for fun, or because she "didn't like someone's tone."  She commits many crimes, including (but not limited to) theft, homocide, physical abuse, and actively hindering the progress of mankind in the sense that she destroys cures for fatal or troubling diseases and causes some of the greatest in society to succumb to Death's embrace.  Most of this was not out of inherant malace, but some sadistic curiosity driven by the world around her.  Occasionally she would do a good deed here or there, but having exhausted many of her better options, she becomes rather crude and heinous as a result.  Even in adventures which are more neutral than not, she acts in ways which she'd have found revolting back before she found the book.
The book was not designed for such severe wear and tear; the farther one goes back, the more damage the tome takes, and Paige was heading back to the start many, many times.  Much of the cover was faded and scratched, or even torn at some points, and an ominous orange light glew from within.  Future adventures started to seem different.  Friends who once welcomed her with open arms were now more skeptical, and eventually outright distrusted her; however, they could never explain why they felt so.  Some towns started worshiping the "god in the orange robe", and others had a notable ban on ball caps and hoodies.
It was not until a few timelines before her entrance into the Omniverse that she truely understood the severity of her mental state; it is unknown what made her click into reality, but suddenly she understood the pain her friends were undergoing.  This wasn't just her messing around with a timeline; this pain transitioned between them, the splitting seams of the book carried their agony throughout time and space.  As such, she went back to fix her mentality on life; went to a psychiatrist, practiced being more like she used to, and trying to rebuild lost connections with her friends.  Some were willing to forgive her, as their emotions were never easy to justify in the first place.  Others were rather stubborn, and she never quite got close to them again before she was summoned into the Nexus for the first time.
There are other potential instances of Paige based on if her motives were different, but this is the product which shall be used for this roleplaying forum.

Moves:
Scoped Revolver (300)
Requires: Ranged Pro.
A silvery steel revolver with a rosewood grip engraved with penrose triangles.  The scope is quite long, extending almost past the back of the grip and down about 2/3 of the barrel.  The gun is about 9 inches long, with the barrel being 5.5 inches and the scope at 7.  Holds six bullets at a time, with a fire rate of about three seconds.  Has abysmal accuracy when fired without using the sight; a man five feet in front of you, when firing from the hip, only has something of a 20% chance to hit.  It also produces a notably loud ring when fired, easily heard from upwards of 30 feet by someone without enchanced senses.   Aiming with the sight is much more accurate, allowing the user to achieve high accuracy from a distance of 600 feet away.

Vegas Gambler (900)
Requires: Ranged Pro., Area Attack Pro.
A vibrant revolver, blue at the grip with a pink trigger guard.  The barrel is pink at the end, blending gracefully into indigo as it comes back in toward the glass chamber.  It is adorned in all sorts of gold designs.  It is 10 inches long, with a 6 inch barrel and a rather long chamber.  Instead of a hammer, the Vegas Gambler has a dice popper on the back.

The gun is semi-automatic with a fire rate of 1/3 a second, but it does not use conventional bullets (requiring no ammo or reloading in the process).  Rather, it can shoot weaker than average shots (75% normal damage) or be charged to do more damage.  Holding the trigger or the dice popper forces the dice to bounce around rapidly, gaining in momentum and powering the chamber.  Upon release, the gun (ideally) fires a much stronger blast than normal, an additional 25% per second charged.

The major caveat is that for each second held from 2 sec. onward, the blaster is 10% less likely to function properly, and in doing so ends up exploding upon release.  The explosion grows in strength based on time.  1 second probably would do nothing more than cause some recoil (the explosion mostly reserved to about 5 inches in front of the barrel), but at 5 seconds a character of 3 atk. 2 def. has a good chance to lose a limb or worse.  The gun can be charged indefinitely, though it will automatically explode at 10 seconds charge with a radius of about 15 feet.

  [Open] Welcome To The Nexus
Posted by: Alan Parker - 12-31-2017, 02:38 PM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (2)

It was one thing to believe in things like other universes or beings that one would label "gods" but it was a completely different matter to have said beliefs proven to be right.  After all, such matters tended to remain in the realm of the video games and comic books Alan had partaked in back in his home dimension, so one could imagine his shock when he was basically ripped out of said home and brought before an entity made of pure white light.

Omni was right about one thing, Alan did have questions and while the supposed god did answer a few of them, said answers only created more questions. Why him specifically? Was it really just on a whim, or was there more to it than that? What was the deal with this "Omnilium" and why was he being trusted with what sounded like the key to ultimate power?

However, he would never get those answers as the darkness soon receded to reveal a realm of what looked a blank canvas. Sitting up from where he'd been lying on the "ground", Alan rubbed his head, "Oww...what the?" Glancing off to his side, he saw what looked like a fountain of sorts with a series of statues set up in the middle to appear like an image of the solar system.

He then looked down at his hand where the orb of Omnilium lied and let out a sigh, "Well, Alan, guess it's safe to say you're officially not in Kansas anymore," The young man sat with his back against the fountain as he peered down at the orb curiously, "I don't suppose you can poof up a portal back home, can you?" The orb didn't respond though for some reason, he got the feeling that something like that required a crazy amount of power, far more than whatever this small orb could give him, "..Should've known it wouldn't be that easy, I guess."

Alan sat there just trying to take it all in. He had so many mixed feelings running through him, it was causing his stomach to turn a bit. On one hand, a part of him was elated at the thought of being able to travel to other universes, to explore and learn new things, to boldly go where no man has gone before...but at the same time, he wasn't too fond of dying, regardless of what the guy in white assured him of.  That and he was also worried about making a good first impression.  What if he messed things up and got himself shot in the face? What if this place was like Warhammer 40K where everyone was, at best, a total douchebag? On top of that, what if-

He suddenly smacked his cheeks with both hands at the same time, "Alright, Alan, enough is enough! You sitting around here sulking isn't gonna make this situation any better! Gotta do what you've always been good at...making the best of a bad situation." At that moment, the image of his father walking out the door on him as a kid flashed through his mind but he quickly shook that thought away and pocketed the orb in his coat before walking off.

He had more important things to think about right now then...well, that. Namely, finding some place he could get a good, hot meal since when in doubt, some food would give his brain the energy it needed to think clearly.

  Shrouding Dark Cloud
Posted by: Jaixe Furiael - 12-31-2017, 07:18 AM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (10)

The Seeker of Darkness stood atop the balcony, hanging overhead the busy flows of traffic that sped by below, weaving their way through a luminous cityscape that never truly slumbered. The wind blew softly, cold from the night that blanketed the world at the time. A cold that bled through the thin, scarlet long-sleeved shirt and black pants that Jaixe wore, but scarcely bothered him. It was a mere few hours for him since Jackie had been apprehended, but for the world, it appeared as though time had sped forward considerably.

This strange warping of time that constantly occurred occupied his thoughts. His curiosity compelled him to mull over the laws of the reality he was now forced to be a part of. There was no Realm of Darkness, no Heartless horde to call upon, no connection to the negativity that flowed through all mortals. The cityscape was relaxing, in a way, but his thoughts set him on edge. He finally came to the inevitable conclusion that he had dreaded for so long. The truth that he was so completely isolated from every living being.

Alone. He was alone, in a way he was never accustomed to being. It was not the kind of loneliness that people often think of when away from friends or family for an extended period. It was a kind of haunting sensation, an ever-present emptiness that embittered him. It was the source of constant pain; a rejection by reality to his mere presence. And it was all the fault of one trickster of a deity.

“This world of yours is a rather creative form of torture for everyone involved,” Jaixe sighed, leaning over the metal railing.

From the corner of his eye, he spotted movement. A shadow sliding along the wall, one of his creations. It ran up towards him, morphing along the thin bars of the railing and popping back into a three-dimensional shape, balancing on the rail. Its yellow eyes stared blankly at Jaixe. They were simple creatures, even simpler now that Jaixe had removed their insatiable desire for Hearts. They now mutely awaited to be commanded, and held only a shard of curiosity that often set them to explore. They never traveled far from him, always returning after a few minutes of adventure, much like a pet checking up on its owner from time to time.

Jaixe hummed to himself, patting the small creature before it eventually scuttled off again. It was unlikely they would cause any mischief while he wasn’t paying heed to them, but he kept a telepathic leash on them all the same.

Doing so was more a reflex anyway. He was so used to commanding armies, it seemed such a waste to have to manage a mere two Shadows now.

“I will need to make more…” He noted to himself, pushing himself off from the railing and turning around, entering back into the hotel room he had booked for himself.

For all intents and purposes, it was a comfortable, yet small room he had gotten. Though it was certainly suitable enough for his needs, or lack thereof. He was thankful he still did not require rest or sustenance in this nightmare of a multiverse, though the act of either was admittedly refreshing from time to time.

It was a small, square room with a full bed with plenty of blankets overlaid. The other Shadow Jaixe had summoned to this world had busied itself with wrapping as many blankets around it as it could manage. The second seemed to have taken up assisting him, dragging more covers from who knows where it had gotten them.

It’s odd, he didn’t remember adding any penchant for self-amusement to them… Perhaps it was a subdued detail he had missed before.

Rolling his eyes, he continued towards the wooden desk that sat opposite of the bed, and picked up the office chair that the Shadows had somehow managed to overturn.

As he sat down and spun back around, pulling out his dataverse device: a small rectangular frame with a holographic interface centered inside of it that lit up on demand. He set himself to reading up on news he had almost certainly missed. Though, aside from the usual chaos arriving from Primes, little else was of note. A message from Ash was a most welcome surprise however. The fact that she had not only survived, but seemed to be thriving was rather intriguing to the Heartless.

The news that she had died at least once was less of a shock. More an inevitability, perhaps.

“Raal seems to have disappeared in the time I have been away, and though I have made some connections with the Empire, they are far from anything substantial…” He mused to himself, trying to form some coherent plan moving forward.

One of the Shadows scurried along the floor, up the desk, and popped into being in front of him, staring at him with unblinking eyes once more. Jaixe reciprocated, his mind idly wondering as his dimly glowing orange eyes stared into the empty yellow.

“I need allies. An army...“ He spun around in his chair, looking at the second Shadow that had now fallen over due the sheer weight of all the blankets it was wrapped in. It was silently squirming in a vain attempt to free itself from its cocoon of blankets and covers.

“... perhaps something more competent than far-too-hastily conjured Shadows as well…”

---

He was ready to begin. He stood up, having cleared a spot on the carpeted floor for the sort-of ritual and conjured a great deal of Omnillium for the task ahead. The two Shadows had taken up perches, observing him with modest curiosity. One was clinging to the wall, and the other hung from the ceiling, looking down at Jaixe, its neck bent in an impossible way.

”I need to ascertain the rules of creating more Heartless… first, let’s begin with a more direct approach.” The Heartless thought to himself, bringing the Omnillium together and concentrating.

The iridescent orbs congregated together into a shining light, forming as one, as mere thought beget creation in a way that defied any logic Jaixe could bring to bear. Minutes passed by, then hours, with Jaixe diligently focusing on the experiment.

He focused on the form of the subject, its shape. It had to be humanoid, and far less bulbous than a normal Shadow. Taller, broader, and much more defined rather than as thin and frail like a Neoshadow.

Heartless were effective at power, but often lacked subtlety. Try as they might, they could only manage to hide in darkness at best, or forsake all stealth and overwhelm with sheer numbers and power otherwise. For normally unthinking creatures, raw emotion and a strong sense of pack mentality was dominant.

But he needed something smarter, more cunning. Something that didn’t rely on the usual advantages of the Heartless, which they now desperately lacked.

Bright light slowly faded to black, as an impossibly black silhouette, resembling closely a person in stature, though nondescript otherwise, stood in front of Jaixe, its creator. For a moment, it stood statuesque, until it opened its eyes. Eyes of pure white, similarly unblinking and round like its Shadow cousins, stared at its master.

As it slowly awoke, veins of white formed along its arms, twisting around and ending at each fingertip, which were more like elongated claws than human fingers. They twirled around its legs in a comparable manner, though ended at the ankles in an odd, swirling band of white lines. Energy seemed to radiate off the white bands, providing a very faint light that further illuminated the rest of its pitch-black body. Two antennae poked out of its head, shaped like bolts of lightning, gradually curving around its bald head and down to its neck, where they tapered off to a paper-thin point.

Jaixe could feel it reaching out, ever so slightly, and knew he was connected. Though, despite it being intentional, he did not anticipate the thought his creation had directed towards him at that moment.

“What is my purpose?”

It had used emotions to convey the thought, but the intention was still there. It had purposefully directed its confusion and curiosity towards Jaixe, and then attempted to form words, though disjointed as they were, trying to communicate its question.

Jaixe was taken aback, but managed to retain his composure, hiding his shock. Though, in reflection, he wasn’t sure why. Appearances were pointless with Heartless that were so unerringly loyal to him regardless.

“Your purpose is to serve. Your calling is to mimic those around you. Your mission is to observe and learn as my eyes and ears.”

Jaixe had directed his command back to the newborn Heartless, which stood almost as tall as him, ignoring the antennae. It seemed to contemplate, its thoughts, or rather, its collected stream of emotions and vague ideas had pulled back onto itself.

Then, it morphed, shifting, as a black mist formed around it during its metamorphosis, camouflaging the finer details of its transformation.

In a mere minute, after the purple-black mist had dissipated, what stood before Jaixe was… well… another Jaixe.

Or at least a very convincing facsimile of Jaixe.

“Impressive…” The original noted, stroking his chin as he closely examined the duplicate that stood before him. Excepting the sharp silver-white eyes that it bore, it was incredibly accurate.

The other mimicked him, seeming to duplicate his motions, closely observing Jaixe in return.

“You can accurately copy me, that is admirable… Though I wonder, can you speak?” Jaixe challenged the duplicate. If it was made correctly…

“... Yes,” it answered after a moment of strain, as if attempting to learn how to move its jaw and tongue to properly mimic the appropriate sound, “I… c-can speak.”

“Hmm, not too terribly either, though you may need to practice.”

The mimic simply stood there, watching its master intently, as Jaixe walked over to the chair and sat, thinking again.

”I can create Heartless that exceed any abilities they may have once been limited to… But creating Heartless at such a slow rate would not only strain my limited supply of Omnillium, but would require far too much time. Time I would ideally not like to waste.”

Jaixe looked back up to the mimic, who was still standing there, staring, as the two Shadows circled around it. They had kept their distance. The mimic was foreign to them, its mind unusual and its emotions kept exceptionally hidden from the fledgling thought stream that was slowly growing, flowing through their common master.

“Take up a new form, one similar to a civilian of this world, and seek suitable targets with darkness in the lower tiers of this world.” Jaixe commanded audibly, transferring the requisite information from his mind to the Heartless that awaited its purpose. It would be a suitable test, perhaps.

“Note them, but do not attack them,” Jaixe finished, as the Heartless, intriguingly, nodded its affirmation and morphed again, into a human Jaixe did not recognize. So, it could be creative with its appearance, that was interesting.

He seemed to be from a middle-class lifestyle, with simple clothes that fit rather loosely, but were suitable enough. There was little fancy to this form, and unassuming was apt in describing its short brown hair, roundish face, and overall average build. Truly, the only oddity about the man that stood before Jaixe was its, sharp silver eyes.

The man walked towards the exit and left the room. Moments later, its thoughts faded from the dwindling thought stream, its connection with Jaixe stretched to its limit and evaporating.

“Now to see if this prodigy of my genius passes the first trial…” Jaixe hummed lightly with a slight grin, eagerly waiting to see what his creation could dredge up from the waste that was the lower tiers of this forsaken world.

CHARACTER NAME: Hazel Vultoni

CHARACTER SOURCE: Original

CHARACTER HISTORY: Hazel comes from a fantasy-type world called Grayenhale. She’s a rising star in the competitive field of dragon breeding and training. Her reputation began after she managed to bring back the species of light dragons after their apparent extinction decades prior. Because of this she was selected for an expedition to the Frozen Isles, a collection of islands stuck in the ice age, frozen in time. She was entrusted with an egg found in the Isle, an egg said to contain the long-extinct Ice Dragon. However, a freak storm strikes while the expedition is still en route to the Isle. Their transport is knocked from the sky and cast into the ocean. Omni plucked Hazel from the wreckage and placed her in the Omniverse.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Hazel’s 5’9” and 143.7 lbs. She has dark brown hair that falls to about mid-back which is always pulled back. Her eyes are dull blue that border on gray. Her skin is tan from long hours in the sun and scarred from working with the most dangerous magical beasts on record.

STATS:
ATK: 2
DEF: 3
SPD: 3
TEC: 2

STARTING PROFICIENCIES:
Ranged Proficiency
Area Attack Proficiency
Debuff Proficiency
Ranged Materialize Proficiency

STARTING POWERS:
N/A

STARTING MOVES:

Icicle Barrage (requires Ranged Proficiency) -300 OM
Hazel fires a barrage of razor-sharp icicles from her hands. This move is instantaneous and can be used on the move. The icicles move at the speed of a fired bullet.

Flash Freeze (requires Debuff Proficiency) -300 OM
When Hazel makes contact with an opponent or object, she can create a thick layer of ice wherever she touches. Primarily used through the hands but can be used with any skin contact. The ice spreads quickly and if not dislodged she can completely cover an average adult-sized person in about a minute and a half.

Field of Ice Tier 1 Super Attack (requires Ranged Proficiency, Area Attack Proficiency, Debuff Proficiency, and Ranged Materialize Proficiency) -600 OM
Hazel charges this move for three minutes. She can still move around during this time but a solid hit can break her concentration and cancel the charge forcing her to start over. The ability is activated by jumping with both feet off the ground. Upon landing, the ground will immediately be covered in thick ice. It will spread rapidly and sharp spires and pillars of ice will randomly erupt. Hazel can control the location and timing of the eruptions to an extent. The ice will spread for around 20 ft. in each direction. It will freeze a layer over water and stick opponents feet to the ground.
