  Ki and Force mechanics
Posted by: Violet - 05-15-2015, 05:28 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (22)

Not sure if this should go here, but I'd like to get some thoughts and theories on ki (which is commonly associated with the Dragonball universe, where my character was taken from) and Force (which is associated with Star Wars universe, and I imagine, common for some folks in Coruscant.

I am almost certain that the two are the same, if not quite closely related. As Vad had pointed out in our facebook convo, the force is not a visual manifestation like ki has the ability to be. However, aren't lightsabers powered by Force?

I would like to use both (discovering Force while adventuring on Coruscant) eventually, but the question is, should it (force power) be treated as a completely separate thing than ki, or would it be the same? Or, should it be a similar manifestation of energy, like a sister mechanic, that would be quicker to pick up on since my character uses one?

I look forward to your thoughts on this matter. Anyone is welcome to participate in this discussion.

  Tell Me Agnès
Posted by: Joline - 05-14-2015, 10:51 PM - Forum: Dataverse Messageboards - Replies (22)

I have decided to occupy some of my spare time by answering questions others pose for me. I have often found myself in positions of doubt, where I cannot answer my own questions, where I do not feel that I have the right answer. In such a situation I often see mediation as a possibility, and this is a place where I can bring such a desire to fruition. Any question posed here will be one I attempt to answer, so long as it is not inappropriate in nature. It is crucial to keep in mind that I am far from all-knowing, and so it should be kept in mind that I will not know the answer to every question. I will try my hardest to provide the best answer I can for every question asked regardless.

[Please format your question(s) as you would a letter, beginning with "Dear Agnès" and ending with "Sincerely, [Your name here]". If you are not comfortable using your real name, it is satisfactory to use an appropriate pseudonym.]

I will patiently await any and all questions, and attempt to punctually respond with proper and impartial answers.

  [14] - Mickey Mouse
Posted by: Karl Jak - 05-14-2015, 12:28 PM - Forum: Dante's Abyss Records (2015) - No Replies

[float=right][Image: Mickey_Mouse_KHX.png][/float]
Personality – Mickey is, above all things, an inherently good person. He tries his best to be trustworthy and to always choose the "right thing to do" in any sort of moral dilemma. He holds a strange sense of responsibility for the people around him, and in a pinch will always try to keep them safe, even if sometimes he has to put himself in a dangerous spot to do it.

He's also infectiously fun, always looking for the light moments in a dreary world, especially the Omniverse, which has proven to be absolutely no fun at all so far. He is intensely curious and, sometimes, this curiosity combined with his relentless need for fun and adventure can get him into trouble.

Possible Reactions – Mickey has entered the competition in an effort to not only win the prize omnilium to help bolster the defenses of a local Camelot village, but he also is in constant search of a way home. He misses his friends, especially his wife Minnie, tremendously, and they will probably be on his mind a lot.

As far as the competition goes, Mickey isn't interested in violence. He will protect himself if he has to -- and he thinks he's pretty darn good at it, thank you very much -- but given the opportunity to use non-lethal force, he will always take that road. He doesn't like killing, and goes into the competition telling himself that he will only do it if he is absolutely forced to. He will try to make friends where possible and will do his best to survive while avoiding conflict.

Relationships – None.

‘Combat’ Style – Like stated above, Mickey does not like killing, but that doesn't mean that he's a bad fighter. He trained for years as a swordsman in the Country of Musketeers and though he won't have his keyblade on him, if he gets a melee weapon you can be sure he's going to know how to use it.

His best asset in a fight, though, is his technique. Mickey is a graceful fighter, and is best at evading his opponents and finding creative angles to counter-attack them. He doesn't generally attack head on unless it's a sure thing.

Eligible Powers – Master Acrobat.

Moves – None.

Extra – Mickey is extremely short at two feet, three inches tall. At this point, he does not use foul language -- ever -- and will chastise any companions he has that frequent it.

Also, it is important to note that Mickey has entered this competition under an alias and will not reveal himself to you. He will introduce himself as "Ears."

Quotes –

"Oh boy!"
"Oh brother."
"Are you nuts?!"
"En garde!"

  **DEAD42**[13] - Strazio Rockwell
Posted by: Karl Jak - 05-14-2015, 12:26 PM - Forum: Dante's Abyss Records (2015) - No Replies

Appearance - Tall and athletic Strazio's body is covered in scars and burns from repeated use of his destructive magick. His hair is long and stark white, another side effect of his magick. He often wears a signature white cloak with the hood drawn, obscuring his face. Underneath the cloak he wears an off-white sleeveless undershirt and off-white cargo style pants. Around his neck hangs the silver crest of Darkshire and attached to his belt by a chain is his personal
journal.

Personality - Strazio tends to be an outgoing friendly kind of guy until he becomes pissed off. His temper is the stuff of legends and he holds grudges longer than he probably should. Once upset it takes a while for him to calm down and he becomes aggressive and belligerant. Despite being known to throw tantrums he truly does have a soft heart for people and feels horrible if he blows up on someone undeserving.

Possible Reactions - Strazio is here to win and make a name for himself, he understands that this is a production and will do his best to put on a decent show. Given the chance he will kill almost anyone without hesitation, especially knowing that death is not permanent in the Omniverse. Once angered he'll become aggressive and seek to beat the crap out of people as a way to blow off steam.

Relationships -

Gilgamesh - Out of all the contestants Strazio wants to run into him the most. Not only did the golden king piss him off he also wants to prove his strength to the king. If he runs into Gil or one of his lackeys he will go all out and try to beat them into the ground.

Crona - The only member of the New Babylon crew that Strazio would be hesitant on killing. They met in Gil's castle and the boy endeared himself to Strazio. He more than likely wouldn't ally with Crona and will still attack him, he just might not have the heart to execute the poor boy.

Seraph - Only knows that he follows Gilgamesh and as such will attack him with extreme prejudice

Combat Style - Strazio is smart and has great combat instincts, he has training in hand-to-hand combat and is used to fighting enemies immune to his magicks. He is in great shape and is no stranger to pain so he can power through damage and dish it out. If the enemy is able to piss him off (which isn't very difficult) he loses in tactical focus and will attack ferociously. His rage is his greatest asset and greatest blindspot, giving him an incredible amount of tenacity and power at the expense of clear thought. Strazio is not afraid to put himself in harms way to gain an advantage (I.E. eating an attack so he can get close to his opponent and deliver a brutal counterattack).

Eligible Powers - Burst Movement

Moves -

Overload Tier one super move
Strazio extends his arms and puts his hands together, forming a triangle with his palms facing the target. Almost instantly a massive burst of white hot energy erupts outwards in a massive 90 degree cone. The attack travels twelve feet outwards and lasts for two seconds, during which Strazio cannot move and is pushed back very slightly. To call upon such great power instantly Strazio sacrifices small bits of skin on his arm and some blood in his veins to act as catalysts. Calling upon such great magick in such short order is incredibly strenuous on Strazio's body, leaving him battered and bruised.

Avatar of Anger Tier one powered-up alternate form
Base Stats
ATK 7
DEF 0
SPD 6
TEC 2

Stats after stat unlocks
ATK 8
DEF 0
SPD 6
TEC 2

Starting from Strazio's chest his flesh burns away, replaced by white-hot energy. His entire body becomes bright white glowing energy and his anger takes hold. In this form most of his abilities no longer harm him and his anger takes control of him and he becomes incredibly aggressive. When he enters the Avatar of Rage Strazio must stay powered up for the rest of the fight or until he is no longer able to sustain it.

Extra - I believe you've already read "The Search for Power" <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://omniverse-rpg.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1982">viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1982</a><!-- l --> Might not hurt to read "The Worst Kingslayer" <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://omniverse-rpg.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2233">viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2233</a><!-- l --> this one shows Strazio interacting with Crona and Gilgamesh.

Quotes -

"I am Strazio Rockwell! The avatar of rage! and I am not afraid, just fucking pissed!

"Stop fucking with me!"

"I'll tear you apart with my own hands!"

"My name is Strazio Rockwell, Defender of Darkshire and I will not fall"

[float=right][Image: s6QQM9G.png]
Color version coming soon![/float]
Personality – A bit of a jerk, logical, inquisitive. Not afraid of violence if a situation calls for it, and usually even more bitchier when she’s nervous or afraid. When she’s measuring someone, she’s typically on the quiet side, letting the other person take the lead and reveal themselves. Does not tolerate dishonesty from others and will typically shun anyone she suspects of playing her. Exceptions to this is when being tolerable to the other person would gain her an advantage.

Possible Reactions – How would your character respond to certain situations? How might they respond to other types of people?

Again, not afraid of using violence if a situation calls for it, but will not typically attack children unless they prove to be malicious, then she would seek to disable them, and if it is absolutely necessary, kill them if they present clear evidence they mean to kill her. For adults, she would be wary of anyone whom she crosses paths, even in alliances, especially in death tournaments like this. When someone earns her trust, she’ll give it in return and fight to the last to protect them. For injured allies, Violet will fight harder to protect them, even if it means injury to herself. During this particular tournament, she will play a little more coy with people, especially those who she suspects to be aligned with higher-ups in Coruscant and their affiliated factions. Her aim is to ally herself with those types of people for her own gains, and wants to make herself known in their circle (albeit in a positive way). Although reluctant for the tournament itself (seeing her past experiences have always not been positive), she is sucking it up and going to play her best game.

Relationships – No current relationships at this time, although during preshow and during the show, that can change.

‘Combat’ Style – Has a martial arts background, although she is familiar with street fighting and all around opportunistic attacking. With weapons, she’ll go for the most vulnerable spots (i.e. inner thighs, where arteries are located, neck, chest/thorax areas). If she’s not aiming to kill, she’s aiming to maim and disable.

Eligible Powers – Burst Movement, Super Jumping (basic)

Moves – None

Extra – none I can think of right now. If you need to know something specific just ask.

Quotes – She loves the word “fuck” and will punctuate sentences wherever she sees convenient. The frequency of her profanity usage increases when she is experiencing strong emotions.

This thread is going to be running alongside Dante's Abyss, written from the perspective of Dobson. It's going to be pretty spicy and I'm definitely open to suggestions from anyone who's reading along. Prepare for some changes in the Moors, folks! Smile

  Enemies Without, Enemies Within [Dobson]
Posted by: PepsiWhirda - 05-14-2015, 09:30 AM - Forum: The Pale Moors - Replies (1)

Dobson paced around the center of the crossroad, his movements tight and agitated. Tears like fat beetles crawled down his cheeks. In front of him, someone had jammed an iron gibbet into the ground with enough force to shatter the cobblestones like so much glass, and pierce the soil underneath. A cage hung from the gibbet, twisting and creaking in the wind. It contained the severed head of Professor Abraham Van Helsing.

The young soldier balled his fists and blinked until the tears stopped. He scanned the shuttered and boarded windows surrounding the village square for any sign of life, anyone who might have seen his moment of weakness. It simply wouldn’t do for Commander Skender to be seen crying.

To his good fortune, the village was deserted as the moon reached its apex and began its descent toward morning. A distant rumble and crackle spoke of an approaching storm. Somewhere nearby, a dog bayed into the night.

Dobson sucked in a shuddering breath to steady his nerves. The promise of a storm, and with the storm rain, gave him perhaps an hour before any evidence of the professor’s killer would be washed away.

There were hundreds of footprints in the dust, but he could find no clue amongst them. The killer had chosen Darkshire’s most trafficked area in which to display his gruesome act. The decision served a cunning, two-pronged purpose: to make tracking them impossible, and to give the scene the most exposure the following morning. It was sheer luck one of Dobson’s patrols had discovered it first. The discovery of the severed head of Darkshire’s most staunch protector would cast the village into outright pandemonium.

Dobson had a hard enough time maintaining enough men for a militia without the chilling promise of sinister agents lurking in their midst.
He leveled his stare upon the head itself, flinching as he met the professor’s sightless gaze. His scan took in every minute detail: pursed lips; broad, placid features; the shock of gray hair swept haphazardly across his forehead. His last expression held no surprise, no regret. There was only stark disapproval, the sort of look a mother gives her mischievous child. Although Dobson knew it was not meant for him, he still found it accusing.

The young soldier peered closer, his gut lurching with grief. The professor's skin had started to mottle as decomposition took hold. Not recent, then. The prospect of Dracula or Scylla planting spies in their midst spoke to a truth Dobson had been fervently denying since his arrival in the Omniverse. If things got much worse, as it now seemed they promised to, Darkshire would be forfeit. The villagers, who had endured horrors beyond imagining for more than a decade, would be forced back through the gate, and darkness would triumph over light.

As the first icy raindrops pelted his hair and provided camouflage for the tears leaking anew down his cheeks, Dobson saw the smudge of white on Van Helsing's chin. He unlatched the cage door. It swung open with a groan. His finger darted in and secured a dab of the stuff, but the young soldier knew what it was before he raised it to his face: makeup. The sort of makeup only one man in Darkshire wore.

Rage supplanted Dobson's sorrow. He slammed the cage door shut and grasped the iron ring atop the cage containing one of his oldest friends, lifting it gingerly from its perch. Then he set off toward the mayor's mansion.

The Rebirth of a Demon King
Posted by: Ganondorf - 05-14-2015, 04:35 AM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

As quickly as the darkness engulfed Ganondorf, it was just as swiftly replaced by a stark whiteness. Blinded by the sudden contrast, the Gerudo King shut his eyes and growled in irritation. It was more than simply the change in lighting which irked him. Demise, and his empty promises of unlocking Ganondorf’s hidden potential, had the Gerudo enraged. A bellow burst forth from the King, his head and arms thrown back in his impotent fury. Fists clenched tight, he vowed to make the demon pay for the insolence of his lies.

His hate-filled scream died down, the sound vanishing abruptly without so much as an echo, and with it so did Ganondorf’s rage. While his anger didn’t disappear completely, the release of that shout brought it down to a simmer instead of an outright boil. The Gerudo opened his eyes slowly, and took in his surroundings. He was in the Nexus again. It made sense, Ganondorf supposed, that he would be returned here after a defeat. Yet, things didn’t seem quite right. A misty, ethereal quality hung over the landscape, from the nearby fountain to the distant gates. It was if he wasn’t yet fully a part of the world.

As he considered the strangeness of this situation, Ganondorf’s eye spied the sand-blasted stone archway that lead to the Endless Dunes. A scowl twisted his lips as his thoughts moved to Enel, and his Keep. What would that egotistical bastard have done while Ganondorf was out of the picture? This spurred the Lord of the Dark to action, and he began to long jog to the gate and the Dunes.
