Man, I've been meaning to read your stuff so I'm actually pretty stoked you asked me to C&C.

Ok, so your story opens up with some exposition, which is cool. It reminds me sort of of an anime where the main character or a narrator is taking us through what's happening. However, if you could spend some time on each of the places, showing us little slices of his life up to now, that would be exemplary. It's the details that really show us who this person is, so you could even take us through a little scene where Gadge goes through like, a "day in the life" sort of, showing us what he's been up to instead of telling us. It gives us more character moments and helps us know wh othe character is in a more intimate way than a straight-up exposition. Even if you did stick with exposition, give us a few little details. What do these places look like? What do they smell like? What are the primary senses we experience as we move through them? What are the objects he's interacted with on a daily basis? Does he know anyone, or made any connections? Those little details really help sell it.

As far as the date portion goes, I think a bit of dialogue would really help sell the moment. Instead of telling us it was awkward, SHOW us how awkward it was. Did he fidget? Did he stammer? What did he say? How did he convince her? You don't have to give a moment-by-moment recap, but a few choice moments might suck us in more completely. If it's all a memory, he could be adding in his commentary, too. Even making fun of himself or feeling embarrassed.

The transition between the memories and him being underwater was a really cool idea, and I like the way it set up the post's structure, but I feel like the break between the memory and the moment was a little confusing. Making it a more clear distinction would have helped the reader along a little bit there. Also the WHY of him being in the water was a little unclear to me. A super minor grammatical thing, the quoted portions should always have the first letter capitalized if it's somebody (or a fish) saying it.

A little bit of word repetition with the word, "world."

As soon as you break into the current moment, your dialogue is really cool and realistic. I might also watch out for your use of dashes when other punctuation like a comma might work better.

The scene where they hit the garage also seems like it could use a bit of detail. Really ramping up the moments of finding the keys, opening the door, going through the hallways, passing by his work station, even if it was fleeting, would provide some tension to the scene. He's feeling a bit "tense," so drawing out every last detail to feel like eternity would make his emotion a lot more palpable.

To make the death scene more gruesome, tell us about the sensation of it. Instants like these usually burn their way into a person's mind, so make it burn into ours. Going from a scene of tantalizing sexy stuff into the shock of seeing a dead body can really be carried with the descriptors. "Smooth, soft, firm, damp, eager," to "wet, dripping, blotchy, bloated, fetid." See the tonal shift there? It makes the emotional whiplash a lot more present in the reader's mind. Don't be afraid to plow knee-deep into description when you want to hammer a point home. With al lthe buildup of the previous romance, make that shift really POP.

The use of a paragraph break to isolate a truly traumatic scene would have done well with the simplicity of the goon killing the girl.

Off in the other corner of the garage, another smaller man—this one in a navy blue suit—leaned against the front door of the business formerly belonging to Gadge’s now dead employer. “They only want the boy,” the navy-suited man hissed, "Get rid of her.”

With one swift motion, the big guy snapped Paige’s neck and tossed her lifeless body to the concrete floor.

Tears materialized in the young engineer’s eyes, but he couldn’t scream. He had seen too much death already to be pushed to shrieking by the murder of a girl he had just met a few hours ago. The sight of her broken, mangled form crumpled up on the ground horrified him, but something told him that he had far more pressing matters to dwell on. "[/spoiler]

I like how simply you put the action, because it makes quick, simple, even unimportant. However, isolating even a simple sentence can give it weight, and I think her death might have warranted it.

I liek your stuff a lot. I think you've got a really good idea of how to structure your posts and structure your story, but I think adding in more detail to really pull us in would make a world of difference! It's entertaining as hell to read, and I look forward to reading your stuff in the future!!

Character name: Yu Kanda

Character history:

Kanda was created as part of the Second exorcist program at the Asian branch of the Black order. In this program they took the brain of the original Kanda and placed it in a new body after he died. Twenty years later Kanda awoke in the laboratory and his true story started. At first he became violent towards the people around him that were trying to help him and give him medical attention. being artificially created and not know why made him think of himself as non-human. During his time in the laboritory they made many attempts to synchronize him with the innocence of the original Kanda, yet every attempt failed horribly. Every time attempt was extremely painful as the innocence rejected him. He would've died during these test if it wasn't for his regenerative seal on his chest. During this time he had severe hallucinations and after six months of agonizing physical and mental pain they decided to euthanize Kanda. But Kanda wasn't alone in the facility, there was a friend who wouldn't just let him die and planned to escape. During their escape they were intercepted by several CROW and kanda was thrown into a canal in order to escape. The escape was futil when the CROW caught up to him down the canal.

Almost immediately after, Kanda was taken into custody by the CROW, and when he finally regained consciousness, he was in the middle of a large sorcery array. Realizing what had really happened to him, Kanda began laughing insanely and demanding to know how the original Kanda died and how many years it had been.Without answering his questions, they activated a spell that sent a massive electrical surge through Kanda's body that shorted out his ability to regenerate shortly after, killing him. Not long after, Kanda's body revived and he synchronized with the Innocence of his original form, Mugen*. Using Mugen, Kanda escaped his confines.

Kanda would later become admiral Froi Tiedoll's pupil, and Tiedoll would give Kanda, who had only been known as "Yu" until that point, the surname "Kanda", which Kanda would come to prefer to be known by. He was now working as an exorcist for the Black Order and he hunts down akuma that pray on mere humans. Exorcist are able to fight the akuma thanks to the innocence,which provides an exorcist with the tools to hurt and destroy the akuma. Kanda's innocense 'Mugen', a sword with supernatural powers. Kanda runs his index and middle finger along the back of the blade to activate it.

Kanda begins his long journey as an exorcist stationed at the Black Order headquarters. Here he meets his friends and allies, Allen Walker, Lavi , Lenalee Lee, Arystar Krory the third, Miranda Lotto. They aswell are exorcist with innocense who fight alongside him. Together with them he goes on many missions to face the army of akuma under the controll of the millenium earl and the Noah family who's goal is to destroy the exorcist and mankind itself. They all become stronger as they face tougher Akuma and even the Naoh themselves. Kanda discovers many new powers to his sword Mugen and grows stronger himself after every battle.

After a long road filled with tears, bloodshed, joy and death, Kanda finds himself at the start of a new mission. His friend Allen Walker has gone missing and he needs to go after him. He then meets up once again with general Tiedoll. Tiedoll then tells Kanda that he will only allow him to go after Allen if he proves his loyalty and strength to the Order by becoming a General, revealing that Kanda has actually already achieved the Critical Point a long time beforehand, but had kept it hidden because he did not want to go further into the organization that he hated so much. After contemplating his situation a moment and reassuring himself that he was prepared to accept the hardships of it all, Kanda accepts Tiedoll's condition to become a General.

At this point Kanda became a General and he doesnt quite know wether he should be happy with this achievement or that he is betraying himself. Dedicating himself to the order that created him as an experiment in the first place. He goes to sleep with a restless mind. Yet the moment he closes his eyes everything will change for Kanda. He will not wake up in the same bed he fell asleep in.

Mugen Unsheathe (300 OM) Kanda runs his index and middle finger along the back of the red crystal katana blade to activate it, whilst saying Mugen Unsheathe, Innocence Activate. The which gives the katana a silver glow along the blade. While activated Kanda is able to perform his illusion moves in combat. Kanda cannot perform his illusion moves without first activating his katana. Mugen stays activated untill Kanda de-activates it.

First Illusion: Netherworld Insects (300 OM) : When activated, Kanda swings his sword and releases a small swarm of 4 supernatural creatures that devour his opponents. These creatures take the form of hellish bone worms which follow their target in an attempt to bite them. They move through the air, yet fast targets may outrun them.They will follow their target untill they succeed their attack or are destroyed.


Double Illusion Sword : (300 OM) After Kanda activates Mugen he is able to use the second illusion called Double illusion sword.Kanda covers his sword and scabbard in a coat of energy and generates an energy blade, creating two sharp weapons. The energy surrounding both blades appears to be blue/white electricity quickly vibrating along the blade. Kanda dual wields both weapons and will lay waste to his enemies.

(( I just wanted to let you guys know, the moment i found this RPG i have been very excited about it and chosing a character was one of the hardest thing ever. I'm new to this kind of Roleplay, even though i've done my share of D&D and game RP it will take some getting use to. IF i made any mistakes with the attacks and pricing i will be happy to change them.

Character name: Ark

Character history:

Ark was the human knight who became a god after killing humanity’s 6 legendary heroes. To understand Ark’s story, one must understand the Six Heroes’ stories. The Six Heroes: Vargas, Lance, Eze, Selena, Magress, and Atro. These 6 humans have received legendary weapons that turned them into beings that were as strong as the gods themselves. As they became so strong, they began altering the world. Vargas had defended the Agni Empire, Lance controlled nature itself, Eze became the savior of the Atharva Republic, Selena had become the leader of the Savat people whilst fighting on the front lines, Magress was targeted by the leader of the gods, and Atro used his weapon to preserve the lives of the La Veda people. The gods were threatened by these six heroes’ powers, and this started the war between the gods and the humans. The humans won, however close of a war it was. This is when Ark struck.

Ark was a knight allied with the gods, and he first challenged Vargas, the Flame Legend. This intense duel led to Vargas gaining a power that was far beyond the gods, but Ark continued fighting mercilessly. Then, Ark spoke, words that were never recorded, but words that made Vargas stop fighting back. Vargas smiled while he lost his life to Ark’s blade, and without a hero to defend the Agni Empire, it crumbled.

Selena, the Ice Legend, lost most of her Savat people during the battles against the gods, and she sought to stop the God Army once and for all. She was met by the religious fanatic, Ulkina, and Selena fought Ulkina, gaining similarly impossible powers as Vargas did throughout this fight. After the battle, Ark appeared before Selena, speaking the same words that he spoke to Vargas. Selena answered, “Even so, I will never forgive you”, and she was struck down. The remainder of her people went on to seek a new home.

Lance, the Earth Legend, fought the gods along with the other Heroes, but his weapon, Drevas the Demon Pike, consumed him the more he used it. During battle, he was forced to use his weapon’s ultimate power against the Lightning Gun, Rowgen’s continuous sniper attacks, which greatly sped up the rate of his body’s deterioration. He was able to finally defeat the sniper, but it was too late for himself. Moments before he died, Ark arrived, and spoke the same words that he told both Vargas and Selena. Lance felt relieved at these words, and he transformed into a tree whilst holding Drevas.

Eze, the Thunder Legend, was against the gods as well, and he was faced with a woman, Kuhla, who he refused to fight. After he realized he must fight this woman, he gained the powers beyond the gods, and took this woman’s life. Ark came soon afterwards, and spoke the words as he did the other heroes, with a sad expression on his face. Eze smiled, turned his blade towards himself, and took his own life. It is rumored that Eze remarked that “Only I can defeat my own self!” while he died.

Atro, the Light Legend, became one of the Six Heroes as the monastery in which he grew up in was destroyed by the gods. During the battle, his legendary weapon, Urias, was destroyed. Atro realized his own immaturity, and Urias was resurrected, giving it a power stronger than any of the gods. During it’s reconstruction, Ark came and told the words as he has done before. Atro swung his sword at the knight with an expression of agony on his face. However, an assassin, Kuda, had taken children of the destroyed monastery hostage. Atro stopped attacking, and was struck down by Ark’s sword in silence. Kuda then released the children, but as soon as he did, Kuda was pierced by Atro’s blade, killing him. It is said that Atro’s last words were, “May it bring a bright future for the children.”

Magress, the Dark Legend, cut down multiple gods in vengeance of his parents’ deaths. His wild rage made him take on a form that left him unrecognizable as a human. The leader of the gods sent the Mad God Narza to kill Magress and his comrades. Narza killed off Magress’s comrades one by one, as Magress watched it unfold, trying to fight Narza as well. Consumed by even higher vengeance and rage then he had before, he completely slaughtered Narza while entirely wounded. Soon after, Ark arrived, speaking the same words that he spoke to the other five heroes. Magress then discarded all of his heavy armor, all except for his lance. Though he was unable to move because of his wounds, he challenged Ark to a duel he could not win. As Magress died, he uttered words of gratitude because of his death as a knight.

Now, why did Ark kill his own brethren, his own Six Heroes, and why did he join the gods? What did he tell the Six Heroes? First of all, he was Lucius’s (the god guarding the gateway between Elgaia and Grand Gaia) first and only successful human disciple (basically a human-turned-god, and this was because of the immense strength he displayed whilst fighting the Six Heroes), but that is not the only reason. He first killed the Heroes because he was forced to, in fear of his lover being sealed away from the world. He also killed them for the sake of protecting the gateway between Elgaia (the human world) and Grand Gaia (the god world) during the Human-God War. Therefore he betrayed the humans to defend Lucius for the sake of the world. If Lucius were to die, the gate to Ishgria (the demon world) would open, unleashing all demons upon both Elgaia and Grand Gaia, causing chaos in the world. What he told the Six Heroes is still unknown. Only Ark knows himself.

As a disciple, Ark worked under the shadows of a mask, cloak and dark armor, staying in incognito, advising the human leaders. However, when a certain human summoner and it’s comrades journeyed through Elgaia and went to defeat Lucius, it did exactly what Ark had feared. The gateway to and from Ishgria was opened, allowing the demons to come into Elgaia. So, the human summoner, it’s comrades, and Ark journeyed into the portal, seeking to kill all the demons within Ishgria. But it seems that Ark has been taken somewhere else when he entered the gate to Ishgria. Another god of another world had transported him to another place.

Physical Strength - 1000 OM
A unique proficiency, this allows characters to become proficient hand-to-hand combatants without purchasing any additional moves. It also allows for picking up heavy objects with your bare hands, strength dependent (as with your hand-to-hand strength) on your ATK stat. Once purchased, you may also purchase melee weapons as moves, or other advanced melee moves such as charged strikes.

Starting Powers:
Burst Movement - 800 OM
Burst Movement allows you to quickly move at up to double your normal speed. The downside is that is only usable in second-long bursts and is quite draining to use repeatedly. Already-speedy characters who use burst movement can look like they're teleporting, but it is really just fast movement. For less speedy characters, the ability to 'dash' at double your normal speed is very useful not only for avoiding attacks but also for closing in on enemies. Burst Movement can be used in conjunction with Flight.

Basic Super Jump - 300 OM
Allows one to jump up to 10 metres high.

Master Acrobat - 400 OM
Allows you to perform handstands, flips and cartwheels with ease, even while attacking or defending.

Foresight - 1500 OM
A kind of psychic instinct that allows one to sense oncoming danger a moment before it happens. You can also tell from what direction danger is coming and what kind of attack it will be. Best combined with speedy, skilful characters – it's all well and good knowing that someone is going to punch you, but it doesn't help if you can't dodge it.

Starting Moves:
Sword of Brave - 300 OM
This blade is the strongest blade ever created in Grand Gaia and Elgaia combined. It is of a gold color, and in this world, it’s magical properties were removed. Therefore, it is now just a normal gold sword.

Boundary Sword: Asterio - 300 OM
This blade was used to kill all of the Six Heroes during the Human-God War. It is of a black color, and again, with the entrance to the Omniverse, it’s magical properties were removed, making it now a normal black sword.

We were walking down the street together, continuing the case of the Unraveled Future. This case really did have my brain on override. I was still unsure if this was indeed the London of the Future, despite Future Luke's attempt to prove it to me. For now, I played along. Luke and I were just simply walking, still trying to wrap our heads around it. Then, one woman approaching us ahead caught my eye. No... It couldn't be... Not after that fateful day... She seemed to slow down. Luke seemed to slow also. In fact, everyone around me seemed to slow down to the point of stopping! "What?" I thought to myself. No, I could still move, but everyone else seemed frozen! Then... White. Blinding, painful, white light. I fell backwards, trying to shade my eyes. I know not how long I lay there, but when I awoke, I was not in Future London. I was not in Present London either. In fact, I could see nothing to give me a clue as to where I was, but white.

Then, somehow, amongst the white light, now bearable, there was a flash of brighter light (if that was even possible)! I shaded my eyes again, however, this time, I saw colour. It was a hat. A large top hat, at least six times larger than my hat on my head. In fact, it seemed to look just like my hat! A black top hat with a small coloured line around it! Then, it seemed as though the world, the world with no ground or sky, but simply a hat, flipped upside down. I landed onto another invisible surface, this time, the hat now upside down. I walked over to it. Why, there was a large pool of water within it! I could easily have swum in it if I wanted to! Then, all the white was suddenly black. A darkness so thick, you could feel it, pressing onto your skin, pushing you down. Then, a small, almost child-like figure was standing in front of me. It was the only white thing left, cutting through the dark. He was grinning at me. I was absolutely speechless. Then, he spoke.

BEFORE RUBY'S ARRIVAL

Strange... I've stopped... I can feel my feet on the ground, but there is no ground in this pitch black place. It's kinda giving me the creeps... I look down at myself and rather than my school clothes, I'm in my combat clothing, skirt, cape, the works. But one thing's different - I don't have Crescent Rose at my waist. What is happening here?

Wait... there's a glowing, white figure approaching me from the darkness. It... seems to be a man, but at the same time not human at all. Words fill my head, they sound like some kind of novel or story being read to me.

“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”


Omni? Omniverse? I think I’m going crazy… Alright, I’m listening, I think to myself, but my thoughts sound like words that are flying directly out of my mouth.

Omni hands you a glimmering orb in which all the colors of the rainbow coalesce. “This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.


Omn… Omnillium? Anything I desire? It sounds dreamlike but at the same time… fake… I tell myself, knowing somewhere deep inside that it isn’t fake, that this is going to soon become my reality. I keep my ears peeled for what he has to say next.

“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.


This is sounding stranger and stranger… others who desire a material that can be used to make anything? Sounds like something from a movie. Rebirth? That sounds even more like something from a movie… I keep distracting myself from my new fate by making selfless references to modern culture – or at least modern where I’m from.

“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”


The man finally finishes, and his white silhouette – maybe silhouette is the wrong word, but how else would you describe the white shape of a man in pitch blackness? – dissolves back into the empty space he emerged from. I wait in painful anticipation, nervously anticipating Omni’s next move. In an instant, I feel my body distort, and I scream out loud, not in pain as there is none, but in terror and worry that I’ll never see my friends and sister again…

ARRIVAL

CHAPTER 1, PAGE 1


Dear Diary,

Today has got to be the weirdest day of my life – like, ever! I mean, first I was doing something – everything before I came here is rather blurry – then I was confronted by a strange, white man-silhouette-thing that told me he was basically the God of this place and that there’s this strange, rainbow – yes, rainbow! – material conveniently named ‘Omnillium’ that I can use to create anything.

Right after that, I felt my body contort and almost tear before my feet landed firmly back in what seemed to be my room – except it was bare except one bed and a door. Of course, at the time sleep seemed soooooo much more appealing than a random door but my childishness – Weiss, if you are reading this, I give you permission to beat me up about this later – took over my legs and waltzed them over to the ‘interesting’ door, and now here I am, in some, strange, white place, a perfectly normal-looking door to my back. It took me a while to recollect my memories of what happened before, but then I remembered the entire ‘Omni’ encounter.

Using the knowledge I received from Omni about this ‘currency’ that seems to abound in myself and everything around me, I imagined Crescent Rose – for those of you who don’t know, that’s my high-caliber sniper-scythe that I fashioned myself – and the glassy colours began to work. Of course, Omni had to make things difficult for me, didn’t he? Not only did it take around three minutes and change, but it just didn’t feel the same – like someone else had created it, making it somewhat weaker, as if Omni was the one pulling the strings on my beloved weapon.

Realising waaaaay too much was going on in my head, I had to create myself this diary – yeah, you guessed it, black and red! – to jot down my thoughts and stuff so I don’t explode. So far, it’s really helped, and I think it may be crucial to my survival, and furthermore my exit, in this place. In this strange, white area, there are about eight gates surrounding the door in the centre. They each look highly different. One seems to be crafted of wood and vines, another looked like something that you would find inside a volcano. For now, I just want to get my bearings.

Omni stated that there were other beings here. Could it be possible that Weiss, Blake and Yang are all here?

Or am I all alone?

Character name: Kurapika

Character source: Hunter x Hunter

Character history: Kurapika is the last remaining member of the Kurta Clan, a relatively reclusive group of people who were valued for their eyes, which glowed scarlet. Their Scarlet Eyes were classified as one of the most beautiful things in the world. While Kurapika was away from the clan to see the outside world for the first time, something rare within their culture, a group of criminals known as the Phantom Troupe attacked and massacred the lot, removing the eyes from the bodies. Kurapika then swore that he would capture the criminals who did this, and retrieve the eyes of his fallen comrades.

His first step was to become a Hunter, an organization of capable individuals that were granted access to vast resources and the best contracts in various fields, ranging from archaeology to monster hunting to bounty hunting. Though the Hunter Exam was difficult, he eventually came away as one of the finalists, and was given his Hunter License. From there, he was given the chance to complete the "Secret Exam," which was to learn the art of "Nen." Nen was the catalyst of every powerful technique that was used in the world, and so Kurapika trained and learned from a master.

From there, he was given a contract by a wealthy contractor, who hired several Hunters to retrieve various valuable items to be put up in a famous auction taking place in a major city. He determined that it was an event that the Phantom Troupe was likely to hit. He was proven correct when they assaulted the auction, and was given a chance to fight one of them one on one. It was in this fight that he was able to determine the effectiveness of the techniques he had developed just for the Troupe, and came out easily victorious. Using the information he gained through his employer, he managed to track down the leader of the Troupe, and perform an ability on him that would negate any future use of Nen, rendering him virtually defenseless.

With the Troupe (seemingly) defeated, Kurapika began his search for his kin's Scarlet Eyes, which would lead him all over the world over the course of a year and a half. His search even necessitated his absence from an otherwise mandatory election within the Hunter Organization, and his absence was extended as he prepared a funeral service for his fallen comrades. Soon after a Chairman was selected, Kurapika was approached to fill in an important group within the Hunters Organization, and he was on his way to give his answer when Omni snatched him up.

Kurapika can conjure chains made entirely of his nen/energy, though it retains the same properties of the real thing. He can use these to lash enemies, as well as constrict them. More nen can be charged into them in order to make them harder to break, though doing so takes greater concentration and drains his energy more rapidly.
