The Toughest Puzzle Yet
#1
We were walking down the street together, continuing the case of the Unraveled Future. This case really did have my brain on override. I was still unsure if this was indeed the London of the Future, despite Future Luke's attempt to prove it to me. For now, I played along. Luke and I were just simply walking, still trying to wrap our heads around it. Then, one woman approaching us ahead caught my eye. No... It couldn't be... Not after that fateful day... She seemed to slow down. Luke seemed to slow also. In fact, everyone around me seemed to slow down to the point of stopping! "What?" I thought to myself. No, I could still move, but everyone else seemed frozen! Then... White. Blinding, painful, white light. I fell backwards, trying to shade my eyes. I know not how long I lay there, but when I awoke, I was not in Future London. I was not in Present London either. In fact, I could see nothing to give me a clue as to where I was, but white.

Then, somehow, amongst the white light, now bearable, there was a flash of brighter light (if that was even possible)! I shaded my eyes again, however, this time, I saw colour. It was a hat. A large top hat, at least six times larger than my hat on my head. In fact, it seemed to look just like my hat! A black top hat with a small coloured line around it! Then, it seemed as though the world, the world with no ground or sky, but simply a hat, flipped upside down. I landed onto another invisible surface, this time, the hat now upside down. I walked over to it. Why, there was a large pool of water within it! I could easily have swum in it if I wanted to! Then, all the white was suddenly black. A darkness so thick, you could feel it, pressing onto your skin, pushing you down. Then, a small, almost child-like figure was standing in front of me. It was the only white thing left, cutting through the dark. He was grinning at me. I was absolutely speechless. Then, he spoke.

Quote:“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”
The Omniverse? It sounded like something out of a science fiction book! No, I had to remain calm and quiet. This 'Omni' person handed me a shimmering orb, shining with all the colours visible to human eyes. Blue, green, red, pink, black, white, brown, yellow, magenta, periwinkle, aqua, turqoise, silver, orange, every colour I could name and more were in this small orb. I took it and turned it in my hand. It sent shivers down my spine, giving my fingers a tingly feeling.
Quote:“This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most."
A strange explanation, for a strange item, given by a strange person, under strange circumstances, in a strange place. I decided I should need to hold onto it. Then, it seemed to twitch and quiver in my hand. I gasped and jerked back, but it stayed in my hand. I had to remain calm. It slowly became smaller, until it was the size of a golf ball. It then darted toward my hand, which it was simply hovering above. It absorbed itself into me, giving me the strangest feeling imaginable. I turned back to Omni.
Quote:“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn."
Reborn? As in, brought back to life? This was one puzzle, that would take a long time to solve. How I wish Luke were here! Or Emmy, Flora, even Clark! Anyone to keep me company.
Quote:“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”
He stepped back and seemed to fall into the black. A little light returned, and I saw his shimmering face, quickly fading away in the pool. So, apparently it was left to me now.

If he is the maker or ruler of this world, as indicated by his speech, then it would make sense for him to keep an eye on me. "I'll be waiting..." What could he mean? Suddenly, ground began to appear beneath my feet, spreading out from around the hat. It continued to expand until it seemed to hit some sort of barrier. The barrier was filled with colour, taking on the appearance of sky. And yet... At the same time, not. Everything was back to white, aside from the fact that now, everything at least had an outline. This was going to take some getting used to.

I began to study my rapidly appearing surroundings. Everything was a bright, clear white, the only sign of black were the outlines of things. There seemed to be no evident light source, and yet it was still quite bright. This place seemed to be quite large. Then, a numerous amount of gates began appearing at the barrier. The first seemed to be a giant archway made of smooth connected steel. Then I realised that there were two people standing on either side of the gate. Actual people! They too, were coated in white, however, it seemed it was not the light that did this. They were wearing strange armour, white and black in colour, covering every part of their bodies. The black pieces seemed to be clothing underneath the connected armour pieces. Their helmets had large black lines of what was probably reinforced glass as to let them see, the mouth an even smaller line. In their hands, there were small, black guns. I decided, if all else fails, I would attempt to gather information from them. The next gate was an archway of worn, eroded stone. The third seemed to be glowing a faint shade of red, and there was smoke spurting out of the gate every few seconds or so. The next was an archway covered so thickly with bark and vines, it was impossible to tell what it what composed of. The fifth was an archway of clean, hewn stone, seeming to almost shine. There was one man standing outside this arch, however soon entered the gate. The next was made of pale stone, covered in dark moss. The next seemed to be a slight shade of blue, and was covered in snow and ice. The final one was an archway that seemed to simply be two palm trees bending down to meet each other at their tips.

Now, my first goal would be to discover, what do I do now?

The Professor's Notes;

I thought the time travelling mystery was giant, but this mystery is truly colossal. I seem to have been taken to another world by a being named 'Omni' in his 'Omniverse'. I am currently searching for answers to all the questions that are posed currently. My location in the Omniverse is unknown to me, as well as the time here. I am mainly searching for another person to get these answers from, so I am beginning now.

I began looking around to find somebody I could try to get some answers from. Then, I noticed somebody else, sitting on the opposite side of the hat-lake! How had we not noticed each other earlier? It was a young lady, with black hair and small streaks of dark red. Her skin was quite pale, and her entire outfit was simply a mixture of red and black. Speaking of her outfit, it seemed quite bizarre to me. However, if indeed Omni had simply brought others because they ’interested’ him, and as it was another world, it could possibly be that people were brought from different worlds, maybe even different timelines! I have never found myself jumping to conclusions so fast. I need evidence for that theory before I can use it. She seemed to have a large, mechanical red item attached to the back of her belt, almost completely hidden by a red cape with a hoodie. Her dress was black, aside from a small line of red at the bottom. The boots she was wearing were black with red laces. She appeared to be writing in a small red and black book, much as I was recently writing in my notebook. I decided I would confront her. If she knew anything I did not about this world, it would certainly make things easier. I began to walk around the edge of the hat-lake, just as the lady completed writing. “Excuse me for being so forward young miss, but might you know anything about this place?” I said. “Gah!” She exclaimed and jumped back, almost straight into the pool, just on the edge. I must have frightened her. She was teetering on the edge of the pool, once instant safe, the next not. “Ah!” I shouted as I quickly grabbed her flailing hands to prevent her from falling into the water. I pulled her quickly back to safety on the rim of the hat-lake. We were both silent for a second, after which we both promptly sighed with relief.
