It was an uneventful night, the Town of Omniville discovered as they gathered in the town square. Everyone who went to bed alive was there and murmurs spread amongst the town that maybe the Mafia had given up.

Character name: Professor Layton

Character source: Professor Layton is from the series of DS and 3DS puzzle games, such as Professor Layton and the Spectre's Call.

Character history: For in-depth detail, follow the link here; http://layton.wikia.com/wiki/Professor_Hershel_Layton . Professor Layton was born under the name Theodore
Bronev
to
Leon and Rachel Bronev
. He lived happily together with his parents and older brother Hershel for several years. However, when he was still very young, the Targent agency came and kidnapped both his parents for their knowledge of the Azran Civilization. The two boys were left behind as orphans.

In search for adoption parents, they eventually found a suitable couple: Roland and Lucille Layton. Unfortunately, they wished to only adopt one child, and decided this would be Hershel. However, they did not know which child was the one named Hershel, so in order for his younger brother to be happy, Hershel gave him his name and let him be adopted in his place. From then on, Theodore would be known as Hershel Layton. Together with his new parents, Layton moved to the quiet town of Stansbury, where he lived during most of his childhood. He went to Kingsbrook Academy and made some new friends: Randall Ascot and Angela. Randall in particular was a great influence on Hershel, and made him interested in archaeology.

One day, Randall asked Hershel to accompany him to go investigate the Akbadain ruins that were found nearby. While hestitant at first, Hershel accepted and they snuck out without their parents knowing. They managed to reach the final chamber of the ruins, but Hershel accidentally activated a trap and caused the floor to collapse. Despite Hershel's best efforts, Randall fell down in the seemingly endless pit and was assumed to be dead. Hershel was so shocked by the accident that he decided to leave Stansbury.Layton went to Gressenheller University and was taught by Dr. Andrew Schrader. He met some other students here, including Don Paolo, who was one year higher, and Clark Triton. He also met a young woman named Claire and eventually started a relationship with her. At their anniversary, Claire bought Layton a giant top hat. When Claire died later that day in an explosion, Layton decided to keep the hat on at all times out of respect for her. It also inspired him to be the perfect gentleman.

A year after Claire's death, Layton saved Emmy Altava from being arrested for stealing a boy's wallet. Layton had managed to deduce that the boy had used his mother's money to buy a new pair of trainers, as his wallet was actually a woman's purse, and had planted it in Emmy's bag to make it look as if the money had been stolen. He explained this to Inspector Grosky, the officer on the case, and Emmy was freed from suspicion. He accompanied the boy in returning the trainers. However, he would soon forget about this encounter. (Cut to beggining of first major mystery) The professor's journey in Last Specter began while in his office at Gressenheller University. His housekeeper, Rosa was given the morning's post and she entered Layton's office to catch him sleeping on the couch. She began nagging him and handed him the letters. After reading one, he found that the letter was from Clark. Layton then rushed out of his office to his car after taking a sip of the tea Rosa had made him. On the way out of Gressenheller, Emmy saw the professor's car and immediately chased him down. The two finally met and put aside their differences, and she joined him as his assistant, aiding with the mystery of Misthallery. This got the ball rolling for his career.
By the end of the game, Luke Triton, Clark's son, becomes Layton's apprentice.
The rest of the series will take too long to explain, so I will cut to the point where Professor Hershel Layton is taken by Omni, in this timeline, of course. Luke and Layton are in the middle of solving a mystery involving time travel. It seems to the duo, that they have travelled through time, 10 years into the future, led by Future Luke. My storyline begins whilst they are walking down a street in Future London and something strange happens...

Starting Moves: Hat's on to you Sir! This move allows Layton to produce miniature top hats from beneath his hat and send them flying toward a target, using the Homing Proficiency.(Also uses Ranged Proficiency) These hats are as hard as brick, yet still quite light. Once contact is made, if it is still intact, it will return to Layton. (300 OM?)
Top Hat On, Top Hat Off. This move functions much like the previous one, however with a significant difference.(These use Ranged Proficiency and Remote Control Proficiency) These hats stick to the target and explode, either immediatly, or when made to by Layton. (600 OM? If not, the final cost for Proficiencies, Powers and Moves is 4,400 OM)

  Choose Your Own Adventure: Omniverse!
Posted by: Mickey Mouse - 07-05-2015, 11:39 PM - Forum: The Creative Corner - Replies (2)

Quote:So... just a fun little experiment I'm trying. Basically I write a blurb with a choice at the end, someone picks what the character does, I write another blurb, and so on. Picking the choice is sort of first come, first serve. Anyone can choose, but I'm just going to take the first person who posts a choice. If you were the last person to choose, try to let someone else pick the next one, unless no one's biting. I can't promise I'll update this quickly.

The character is just sort of a generic Choose Your Own Adventure Knight; let's call him Reynor.

You slowly open your eyes. Around you, all you see is blackness. A great, dark void stretches out in all directions; you get the feeling it is inescapable. Your stomach sinks. You try to remember what you were doing before this moment, but the memories seem fuzzy. They exist, yes -- a forest with thorny branches twisting this way and that, a vine-covered keep, an important choice -- but nothing solid comes back to you.

A glimmer of white light materializes out in front of you. Slowly, it begins to take the shape of a young boy. He is faceless except for a huge, eerie smile splayed out across his countenance. You might try to speak to him, but you find you cannot. Something stops you.

He begins to speak. He explains to you that you have been pulled against your will into this place -- the Omniverse -- by his own selection. He tries to make it sound like you have been chosen specially, for some purpose, but you are having a hard time wrapping your mind around exactly what is going on here. The being explains that in this world -- or whatever it is -- you can summon anything your heart desires with Omnilium, which apparently is the energy that people survive off of in this world. He says there are others like you out there in this Omniverse.

You doubt that. There are few other warriors as skilled as Reynor the Spider-Slayer.

The being dissipates before your very eyes, and within seconds the blackness is replaced with an equally empty void, but this time completely white. At the "edges" -- though to look at them you wouldn't be able to tell they were the edges -- are eight gates, each surrounding you.

The world immediately around you looks empty enough, save for a gigantic marble fountain, also covered in vines and moss, that rises rather randomly out of the ground. Despite the apparent safety of your current location, however, your battle instincts tell you that you should seek protection. You look down to find yourself wearing only your cloth undergarments, and a mixture of embarrassment and anxiety fill you. You decide to use this "Omnilium" to summon your trusty suit of iron armor.

It works like a charm, so you figure next you should summon a weapon, but an unknown limitation makes you acutely aware that you can only summon one -- but you love all of your weapons so much, it's difficult for you to choose between them. You think long and hard.

Do you summon the Dragon-Blessed Greatsword or the Longbow of Morgana's Weave?

  James White
Posted by: James White - 07-05-2015, 07:55 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (20)

Character name: James White

Character source: Original

Character history: 22 years ago on Earth, one mostly untouched by any presence of super-beings, James White was born. From an early age, it became apparent his childhood would not be an easy one. Growing up in a rundown and somewhat lawless neighborhood was no picnic. Many folks distrusting one another and being paranoid too, even when nothing bad was happening. His parents were usually too busy fighting, arguing, going behind one another's backs, taking advantage of their son, to properly look after either their home or James himself.

On top of this, Mr White was a frequent victim of bullying and harassment both around his home and throughout his school years.. Being the victim of such circumstances taught the young man some very harsh lessons about life. Namely he would have to learn to fend for himself, and that trust and respect was not something to be handed out to just anybody.

However, the young lad also learned to appreciate what little he had and he gained a strong empathy for the suffering of others. As a result, he would typically go out of his way to stand up to bullies and other oppressors, defending those smaller and weaker than him. Although this made him very respectable in the eyes of some kids, many adults saw him as a troublemaker and a bad influence.

Not everything about his childhood though was sad, as he was a bright student and excelled in school, and was admired for having a keen imagination and insight into how things worked. He also had a deep love of anything related to comics and superheroes. Those stories of heroics and daring rescues inspired the young man to do well in his own life, to live up to the examples set by his favorite heroes. Of protecting the innocent, fighting for a cause you believe in, and to make lives better, even if his idealism and values weren't always supported by reality.

When he was around 10, his parents through a VERY messy divorce, which left quite a few mental scars on the boy, although after his father died in an accident, he was sent to live with a foster family and began to heal from the scars his childhood had left on him.

Graduating with full honours and a scholarship, Mr White's next step in life was college, where he hoped he would eventually graduate and follow a career where his stories would be able to help people who had lived through similar situations to his own...of course, that's when destiny reared its head...in the form of a certain entity named Omni.

Exhausted from a long day at college, the young man collapsed on his mattress and fell asleep...only to reawaken facing
the mysterious ruler of the Omniverse and received the same spiel as everyone else before him. Dropped off into the
Nexus, the young man found himself in possession of the Omnilium which had the power to alter everything about him,
give him his heart's desire...when really, a part of him just wanted to go home.

Still, another part of him felt this was his opportunity to BE somebody. To help others and be part of something bigger than
himself. So, he set out to explore this new world, help whoever he can, and hopefully find his way home someday. His
only lead? The mysterious deity known only as Omni...who is Omni? What is he? Why does the Nexus exist? For what
reason was Mr White brought here by Omni? Heck, what's really going on? Will finding Omni really return
him home?

Only time will tell if he can find the answers to these questions...

Physical Description: (originals only)

Mr White stands about 5 foot, 11 inches in height with short deep brown hair and brown eyes. He is at 22 years of age and has a physique that is rather blocky and even a bit on the bulkier side than he might like. His skin appears to be of
Caucasian descent. He typically can be seen wearing more casual wears such as a blue short-sleeved shirt black
sweatpants, shoes, socks and wears a black and grey hoodie for colder weather. He can typically be seen with
a locket around his neck that holds the image of someone "important" to him.

Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF: 3
SPD: 2
TEC: 2

Starting Proficiencies:

Physical Strength (Costs 1000)

Area Shield Proficiency – 400 OM

Starting Powers:

Super Jumping (Basic) (Costs 300)

Malleability – 1000 OM

Master Acrobat-(Costs 400)

Starting Moves:

Dragon's Claws (Costs 300) James transforms his hands into large razor-sharp claws that are great for close-range
combat or crowd control.

Bio Shield (Costs 300) Shifts the mass of his arm like clay to form a large shield that covers his body. The shield is
great at withstanding attacks and is overall a powerful defensive tool but for now, it is little more than something that
keeps him alive.

Drill Arm (Costs 600) Mr White shifts the mass of his forearm so that it forms into a high-powered drill that serves
very well in tunneling through sturdy materials like concrete and solid rock. However, it is more suited to taking on
one target than an entire group and despite its power and precision, it can be avoided by more swift opponents. Being
allowed to charge up for several seconds increases the power and precision greatly.

  Differences Between Shapeshifting And Malleability
Posted by: Guest - 07-05-2015, 06:16 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (2)

Hi, I was thinking of doing a Shapeshifter build for my character but I was wondering, what exactly are the
key differences between malleability and shapeshifting? I read the page on them but they sound very...similar
to one another. Could one of you guys help to explain this, please?
