  Fusion, but not fusion.
Posted by: Demetri Malius - 08-16-2015, 01:35 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (9)

Okay, so I had planned that IRIS could also become a wearable item and buff its wearer at the cost of IRIS being restricted in moves and abilities. It's somewhat like fusion, but exactly a full fusion.  Also, not sure if it needs shape shifting. Would it possibly be a move? what prof/powers would it require. Overall, just not sure how this fits in to everything. I just overall want to give IRIS a concrete base of moves, powers, abilities, etc. That way I have solid stuff to work on for it. I have a npc submission currently out for IRIS but I'm still tweaking some things on it.

In the following wearable forms, IRIS must take ten seconds to fully switch forms or revert to its original form.

Examples:

IRIS can be worn as a helmet(similar to this as a helmet).  While in this form, IRIS cannot use any moves besides its lasers, but can aide its wearer using insight and foresight(however, its usefulness depends on the skill and speed of its wearer to recognize helmet HUD warnings), and protects the wearer from head injury. IRIS can only communicate with its wearer while in this form. Wearer can also hear IRIS's function warnings(the ones in italics)

IRIS can be worn as a wristcuff, covering the wearer's forearm and wrists. In this form, IRIS is restricted to its defensive moves, Pulse and Defensive Protocol(at a reduced range and effect maybe), and its lasers.  IRIS can speak out loud in this form.(for visual, just a glowy blue wristplate.)

IRIS can be worn as a chest piece. In this form, IRIS and its wearer can use stealth, along with suppression, but cannot use any moves, including lasers. IRIS cannot speak in this form.(for visual, think iron man's chest piece but with IRIS's blue eye)

So, during my last year in high school my buddies and I made a short pixel game for a math project. Of course, its not the most sophisticated or detailed of games, and is mostly pixel art. Currently the game is not completely finished, and the ending is a substitute for what was supposed to be four more levels(one having an path choice) and two bosses. Being the only programmer of the group, it was difficult to write, test, and debug the code by myself, and I was not able to keep up with our planned pace, in comparison to my partners which did most of the images and such. Originally I was going to leave it as is and move , but I've recently been inspired to work on it again by certain late night omniverse chatters. The game can be played here(click full screen to play), and is a work in progress, as any edits I make are immediately shown there. Any feedback and comments are appreciated, especially about any improvements that can be made. Currently on my list to add(for the current level)

  • -Dialogue boxes w/ detailed character picture
  • -Backgrounds
  • -Text formatting
  • -Addition of two NPCs
  • -Make it required to actually kill everything to win

Possible options:
  • -Possible merchant
  • -Player character options
  • -Enemy respawn
  • -Inventory and loot

Again, it is a work in progress and a pretty slow working pace, but hopefully it will come together in time ^-^ Perhaps when I'm done working on this I can do a game in relation to the omniverse!

  Where is my mind?
Posted by: Victoria - 08-15-2015, 09:56 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

The Nexus was a place where all life began in Omniverse. It was where the primes gathered, shocked, and in awe, but mostly bitter. It was the birth of their existence, beyond death, and it was where time stood still. To go forward meant to accept this fate and find some place where they could be happy, or find glory. The whiteness went on for what felt forever, and the only thing that wasn't white, was the massive fountain whose waters were as crystalline as magic.

Long pink hair fell behind her, and a few inches floated in the waters, carelessly moving with the current. Legs were folded criss cross, hands empty, palms up, limp in her lap. The girl's head was bowed and eyes downcast. A shadow had overcome her features. It wasn't unusual for her to be so still and silent, but this was far from the usual. It would take time for her to process what had just happened...and because of this, she remained still, and let the sound of the fountain be her only focus.

Victoria snapped her fingers, and a spark lit the air, but fizzled out as if it were but a lightening bug. Her fingers curled inward and she remained silent. Years had been spent honing skills, and remaining in control of feelings. She had fallen in love, had her heart broken, slaughtered armies and impaled a planet. This had all occurred back home, on Earth, but that was gone.

She wanted to believe this was another sick game. It had to be, hadn't it? How many times had she been knocked out, whisked away, taken to play as a puppet. This was not the same. It felt different. The lonliness was overpowering. She felt herself close up, and instinctively, her knees bent and she folded her arms around them. In this position she sat, hugging herself, and she felt as if she were thirteen again.

The assassin had thought that, after so long, she would be free...and she wondered if this was it. Had it all be a dream, and this was the reality? Her eyes lifted and she peered into the distance. She was no stronger than when she started years ago, and those days were as clear as ever. Parks had tried to take advantage of her...and never had she thought it possible. Maybe, all those days she spent training, she had done so to keep people like him at bay...

To this day she'd never let herself unguarded to another. Not even Jeremy – the man she tried so hard to hate, and so hard to like – was able to bed her. It was something she'd won. Now, in this place, she was still that girl...and now she was just as weak.

--

Victoria was angry, but after shouting into nothingness, she'd resigned to walking. Her mind rattled over the past, over what had happened, but nothing came to mind. She was on a mission, she was doing what she did best...and then she was here. The guns she carried were gone. All she had was the clothing on her back, and despite having knowledge of this Omnilium that existed here, she didn't attempt it. That could wait. She had her basic abilities...as she had tested with a quick shot at the air. It would take a more difficult test to see how her regeneration would hold out...

So she walked, and she walked, her eyes searching for anything...and that was when she noticed the dark figure in the distance. The young fighter didn't run, but she kept her pace, heading toward the object. The closer she got, the more details she could see, until she could see that it was a mighty portal leading toward a new realm.

“If this exists then,” she paused and looked east and then west, “there is probably more.”

Not one to jump into things, having learned much from Jeremy, she chose to walk east. Portals could lead anywhere...Until she knew where she was going, she didn't want to risk any quick decisions. Besides, she was not sure she was ready to move on...she had too much to think about until she could continue with her new life.

Flaming Visions (From Rest and Recovery... and Running)
Posted by: King Axorn - 08-15-2015, 05:27 PM - Forum: The Astral Realm - No Replies

Where... where am I? the draconian thought to himself as he opened his eyes, only to be greeted by an unfamiliar sight. He was lying on the ground, surrounded by a dying forest and a dark haze that seemed to engulf the outer edges of his vision. Axorn stood up, only to step on a small switch hidden under the ground that caused a half broken control panel to slide out of a hidden opening and position itself upright on Axorn's right which caused him to jump from reflexes before realizing what it meant. WAIT A MINUTE! HOW THE HELL AM I BACK ON TRANQUILITY?! Axorn pondered mentally, causing him to scratch his scalp. This is the draconian recognition panel used to gain access into the kingdom... what happened here? More importantly... what happened to the kingdom?! Axorn pressed a few switches on the remaining half of the panel, confirming his identity and then activating a live 3D holographic map of the kingdom... and what he saw caused him to become stricken with shock and fear. The entire draconian kingdom had collapsed! Axorn stumbled backwards and shut off the controls in the process. How could this happen? he wondered anxiously. There were so many fail-safe measures and.. and and the only way it could be destroyed is if... if... and then it hit him. NO! IT CAN'T BE! THIS DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL!... HOW DID THE DARKLING RETURN?! Axorn fell to the ground weeping at the thoughts running through his mind. It's the only possible explanation... the darkling came back and corrupted the draconians, gaining in strength until it grew up. Then it used... Axorn paused. it used my people... my kingdom... my friends... and my family to destroy... to destroy everything on tranquility.... No wonder everything's dead and a dark haze is covering everything... it's sucked the life of the world dry.... Axorn then leaned over and cried his heart out for what seemed like hours before darkness filled his vision and he fell out of the dream....

  Switching John Connor to Luger
Posted by: Marcus Wright - 08-14-2015, 05:03 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (11)

Character name: Luger

Character source: Canon from Killzone Series

Character history:

She helped stop the space defense platform crisis, and guided her old boyfriend, Jan Templar, into driving the Helghast off of Vekta. Her involvement in the war is shrouded in mystery, due to her secretive profession. It is not even known whether Luger is her surname, family name, or simply a codename.

In August 2357, the Helghast launched an invasion on Vekta and stormed several beachheads along the planet. Luger, along with other Shadow Marshalls, are involved with recon work or other similar missions. As the ISA H.Q. outside Vekta City falls, General Bradley Vaughton contacts her and asks to help Captain Templar on an important mission, and that he will brief her once she finds him. Luger and three other marshalls make their way to a warehouse to cover Templar. A Helghast sniper takes aim at him, but Luger drops down and stabs him. She tells a surprised Templar that Vaughton sent her to watch his back. Templar tells Luger that they have to rescue a spy named Colonel Gregor Hakha who has valuable information and is trapped in the slums. Templar says that they first have to find Vaughton and give him the security key so that he can reactivate the SD weapons platform above Vekta.
They head past an abandoned train station and move through a park that is heavily occupied by Helghast. Templar slyly asks if Luger 'got laid' since the last time they saw each other. They come upon a Helghast convoy with a tank being attacked and destroyed by a lone, enraged soldier. They help him finish off the remaining Helghast. The soldier tells them that Vaughton has been captured and being held in a small building nearby. They rescue Vaughton, and give him the security key. The soldier introduces himself as Rico Velasquez, and Vaughton asks him to join the two on their mission, to which Rico agrees. They push through the slums and reach the mall where Hakha was supposed to be in. They find dead soldiers everywhere, along with one survivor. He says that the Helghast took Hakha down the street somewhere and they are planning a trap for them. The soldier then dies and they kill the Helghast trying to trap them. They rescue Hakha, but to Luger's horror, he is half-Helghast. Rico nearly executes him but is stopped by Templar. Luger asks who's side is he on, to which he replies ''my side'' and shoots an incoming Helghast. Templar tells Luger to keep an eye on him, and tells her that he seems to be ''hot for her''.

The team push through the docks and attack several Helghast outposts along the way. They plan to take Hakha to the ISA fortress and put him on a shuttle to Earth. As they pass a room with an ISA computer, Hakha asks that he be given enough time to process the data that he uncovered. Templar says that there isn't enough time. Luger asks to give him time. Rico distrusts Hakha and points a gun to him. Luger then puts a knife to Rico. Templar fires his gun and screams at the team to work together, and gives Hakha five minutes to discover what computer on the SD platform has fallen to the Helghast. He discovers that it is General Stuart Adams' personal computer that is under Helghast control. Suddenly a beam of energy is fired from space and destroys the fortress. Templar proposes that they head up to the platform to stop Adams from destroying the fleet from Earth once it arrives. He says that there is an uplink at the fortress that can take them up to the platform. They take two boats and head for the fortress but crash after being pursued by Helghast rockets. Luger wakes up with Templar lying on top of her. They are attacked by Helghast in the swamps but defeat them and push on further. They come upon a Helghast code 3-3 firebase and Luger and Templar think that they should go around it. Hakha however, believes that they should go through it to damage the Helghast war effort. They do so and clear a path to the fortress. They reach the fortress to find it destroyed, along with the uplink. An ISA soldier appears and tells them to put their hands in the air. He says that General Adams told them that Vaughton tried to take over the platform but was killed by Adams, and that Templar's team are some of Vaughton's rebels. Luger disarms the soldier who flees. Luger tries to make Templar feel better about Vaughton. Hakha picks up a Helghast radio message saying that Adams will be at a base nearby. The team attack the base but find that it was a set up to trap them, which failed. Rico threatens Hakha again, believing that he lied about the message. Luger convinces an angry Templar to stop Rico, and they decide that they need to head for another uplink in the mountains. They see a Helghast convoy passing through and they ambush it, as well as taking out one of their outposts. They push on and blow up a bridge over the 32nd river. They also attack a base and see that there is a facility that could have a transport that would take them up to the uplink. They arrive and are met by Helghast soldiers under the command of General Joseph Lente. They manage to defeat Lente and his bodyguards, and Lente is killed by Hakha after he tells Hakha that he had his brother shot. They take his shuttle and get as close as they can to the uplink without getting shot down by Helghast. Luger privately tries to talk to Templar about when this is over, to which Templar says that it isn't going to be over. They fight their way to the uplink and Luger pilots the special shuttle to the platform, now under Helghast control. They board the platform and see that the Earth fleet has arrived. Adams destroys one and the others begin to bombard it. Luger says that they need to split up to disable different parts of the station and contact the fleet and tell them to stop firing until they can stop Adams. Luger is captured by Helghast but quickly escapes and meets up with Rico and Hakha as they rescue Templar from dozens of Helghast. Templar goes to kill Adams and the others hold the remaining Helghast off. The fleet begin to bombard the ship again and the team are forced to escape. There is a problem with the fuel line and Hakha goes to fix it but is trapped beneath it after it falls. Templar and Rico help him and they escape just in time for the uplink shuttle to automatically leave. Luger says that the Helghast will probably be back, and Templar agrees, saying that they will be ready to meet them when they do. The platform is then destroyed by the fleet, who move on to help defeat the Helghast on the planet.

Aftermath
Over the next few months, the ISA begin driving the remaining Helghast from the planet, and by the beginning of 2358, the Helghast have fled the planet, yet with the nuclear weapon Red Dust in their hands. Plans are made to decide how to remove the Helghast leader, Scolar Visari, as a threat and to reclaim the stolen nukes. With the Helghast driven from Vekta, the shadowy figure of Luger disappeared from view. Reassigned immediately after the last mission she undertook, she faded into the background and only rumors speak as to her current assignment. It is known that the retired Gregor Hakha, who worked with the Vektan council in planning the next move, recommended that she be used in an operation to assassinate Visari with extreme prejudice, but this was believed to have been turned down in favor of a full-scale invasion of Helghan to capture Visari and put him on trial. Little is known about the extent of Luger's true involvement with the defense of Vekta against the Helghast. While rumors and some first hand accounts place her in the thick of the action, she was not amongst those decorated after the shooting stopped.

She arrived in the Omniverse after the platform is destroyed by the fleet, who move on to help defeat the Helghast on the planet. A lot has happened in her history but she arrives rather frustrated.

Physical Description: Luger has long red hair and hazel eyes. She has quite high cheekbones and is very beautiful. Her full face is never seen, as you never see her hair in Killzone and you can't see her nose and mouth in Liberation. In Killzone: Liberation, she ties her hair in a pony tail and covers most of her face with a piece of cloth. In Killzone, she is almost completely covered in a black stealth suit made from a thin material and wears a green equipment harness. She also wears some armor padding, and uses thermal and night vision goggles that she can remove to reveal her face easily. She uses a combat knife and a Shadow Marshall noise and flash suppressed Sub-Machine Gun as her weapon.

Flash suppressed Sub-Machine Gun (Requires Physical Strength, Ranged Proficiency, Homing Proficiency) Luger's favorite gun of choice. It's able to tear through armor without making noise. It can be dangerous in the right hands. Luger's Sub-Machine Gun can fire 30 rounds per magazine used at a distance of 0-25 meters away. Outside 25 meters, can be difficult to use. Close up however, it can be extremely dangerous.

It is one of the harder-hitting weapons in your arsenal, it doesn't require a reload, and it's fast to execute. The downside is Luger has to be very close to your opponent in order to use it.

RP Fodder

Night Vision Goggles- Luger is able to see people in the night time with these.
Takedown in Silence (Requires Physical Strength, Stealth, Combat Knife)

Luger is a Shadow Marshall, also known as a Assassin. Taking down enemies is a quick process for her. She grabs a enemies neck in complete silence from close up, and makes sure they don't make a noise. Uses her Combat knife to threaten said enemy and/or kill a enemy quickly with little blood.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? -- Joining: Shade
Posted by: Shade - 08-14-2015, 09:43 AM - Forum: Joining - Replies (11)

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, it is I,Emerald, Shade. This is my alt, which I donated for, and during it's creation I was very inspired by Zangetsu's character and approach to living in the Omniverse. Though. my character is a little more parasitic than symbiotic.

Quote:Character name: "Shade"

Character source: Original

Character history: People fear the darkness, from childhood and even into adulthood. Some think it's because we fear what we cannot see. Maybe it's because you're scared of what you do see. The Shadows.

Physical Description:

"Shade" is a Shade, a shadowy demon creature who inhabits the shadows of our world. Without taking someone as a host body, and overcoming their will and replacing it with her own, she has very little influence on the world outside of the shadows. She move through the world by traveling along the shadows, or in the dead of night when everything is dark. When attached to a host body, she replaces their shadow, even showing the new shadow when it would otherwise not be there normally.

When free of a host, she is very vulnerable to attack. When attached to a host, the host body's death results in hers, and any damage received by the host also causes comparable damage to Shade. While not noticeable by any physical cuts or burns, such attacks on the host would impede Shade's ability to fight to the same degree.

ATK:4
DEF:1
SPD:3

Starting Proficiencies: Physical Strength 1000 OM

Starting Powers: Basic Fusion 1000 OM, Symbiosis 1000 OM, Foresight 1500 OM

Starting Moves:
Shade Blade (Requires Physical Strength) - 300 OM
Shade augments her host's limbs with sharp, claw-like blades, protruding from each knuckle and toes. These blade are invisible to the naked eye when view from the host's limbs, but are mimicked in their entirety in the host's shadow. Individuals with Enhanced Senses can see the shadowy claws on the host's limbs with increasing clarity depending on their skill, reaching almost complete clarity by those with Mastery over their Enhanced Senses.

  Emancipation
Posted by: Magus - 08-14-2015, 12:43 AM - Forum: Camelot - Replies (4)

Magus had sat on the floor with his back to the wall gazing at the key suspended between his thumb and forefinger for what felt like eons. Who in the Omniverse would want to set him free? Lud had betrayed him and being locked up was probably better for the old bastard than Magus’ death would have been, if what the monster who’d created all of this had said was true.

So then, who? The quiet boy, Link, had wandered off sometime before Magus’ misadventure with the Rathalos – even when they were together, they could hardly be considered anything more than partners of convenience.

The imprisoned wizard pondered this thought for a long time: who helps a man who’s done nothing but make enemies since he’d arrived?

This person must have had at least some connections; the key had been hand-delivered to him inside a facility meant to hold someone like him. They didn’t have enough influence – or didn’t want to exert it – to have him formally released, so that meant the person helping him was either a powerful political figure working off-the-books, or someone with criminal ties.

Maybe there were others in the People’s Army who’d been slighted by their ‘illustrious’ leader. His fight with the two bounty hunters who’d brought him in must have gotten the people talking. The destruction they’d wrought in the city was pretty impressive – maybe someone important had taken notice.

Maybe Omni was just fucking with him.

The corner of his lip curled into the slightest snarl. Omni would have to wait. He glanced up at the closed slit in the door through which the old jailer had taunted him and through which his meal, complete with key, had passed through.

His eyes drifted back down to the key, and then back up again. He’d noted what he was looking at already, but he couldn’t help but keep checking to make sure that there indeed was a keyhole. On his side of the cell. What rare moron designed this thing?

He let the key drop into his palm and closed his hand around it. He closed his eyes and rested his head against the wall. He thought of the glowing sigil on the key and the name that accompanied it. It buzzed in his mind and his flesh. It was good magic. Clean. Carefully crafted. He hadn’t ascertained what the key actually did yet, but Magus was confident in his appraisal of the key that it would do whatever it was supposed to do – hopefully it really was to open the lock and whatever magical seals there might be on the door.

But he couldn’t try it yet. If he’d been served a meal only moments ago, chances were good night hadn’t yet fallen; not many prisons he knew of that would have had someone available to serve a hot meal after dark.

Shirt missing, chest covered in bandage wraps, bruised and battered. Tired. Magus drifted to sleep sitting up against that wall and didn’t wake up again for a long time.

- - - - -

It was rare that Magus was confused. It was a feeling that made him uncomfortable. Inadequate. And those were feelings he was unaccustomed to.

It took him longer than usual for him to collect his bearings. Waking up in an unfamiliar, pitch black room would do that to a person. But it wasn’t just the confusion of not knowing where one is. It was something else. Something more.

Shit.

It was the Black Wind. Or rather, it wasn’t. He couldn’t feel it. And that made him afraid. Magus had very seldom been made to be afraid. He’d never experienced not being able to hear the Black Wind. It was always there, even if it was almost impossible to hear.

Now it was gone.

His skin prickled and he felt a cool chill sweep up his back and settle into his gut and lungs but he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Magus exhaled through pursed lips and opened his eyes. He breathed a silent sigh and shuffled to his feet.

He used the glow of the key’s magic symbols to light his way to the door. It was infinitesimally dim, but it was enough for him to find the keyhole and insert the key. Magus reflexively shielded his eyes with one hand as he turned the key with the other.

Somewhat surprised when he heard a heavy clunk, the mage pulled the door open and stepped out into the dim light of his cellblock. Or rather, his cell. There was nothing else here except a tiny landing and then a set of stairs leading up.

Magus slowly made his way up the steps, his body seemingly distorting, blurring and fading away, with purple vapour pouring off of him like smoke. All of it faded away quickly, and soon he had disappeared entirely, and the only trace of him were his footsteps as he slowly drudged his way up the stairs.

Magus smiled, though not even he could see it. He’d been meaning to try this for a while. The wizard had managed to make himself incorporeal and invisible without having to step into the Plane Immaterial. Escaping imprisonment would certainly be made easier this way.

The Fiendlord stepped out into a small, dimly lit cellblock. It was a similar story to the floor beneath, only instead of one cell, there were ten, and no other rooms or exits anywhere, except yet another set of stairs up. They must have put Magus underground. The people on this floor must have been the most hardened of criminals to end up down here, and that gave him an idea.

In a puff of purple smoke, Magus appeared. There were no staff down here, no guards. And – he turned a palm upward and with a tiny whump, a ball of black flame roiled, angrily suspended in the air above his palm’s flesh – no bewitched room, either.

“Heh.”

He lazily flung the negative energy at one of the doors – solid metal, with a slot that could be opened from the outside, like the one from the cell he’d been locked in. The ball exploded on contact with the heavy lock, blasting the heavy door wide open.

“What in the goddam hellfire-?!”

It wasn’t exactly heady conversation, but Magus would take it. “I’m staging a prison break,” he said without moving from where he stood, unable to see into the cell. “You’re welcome to come with and help, or stay here and rot.”

A short, thin man, pale from years of isolation from the sun, staggered out into the corridor. He was haggard, with long, wild hair and a beard to match. He wore nothing but a pair of sack-cloth pants. Scars criss-crossed his arms, chest, and back. Gruesome burns marred his face and hands. “Nah, I’ve had enough of this place,” the man grunted, looking Magus up and down. “You the one they sent to the pit, ain’tcha? Hmm… yeah, you are. I heard the commotion they made about you. I’m Waylon. What’s the plan?”

“I’d planned on setting the other nine of you free before-”

“Five.”

“Hm?” Magus crossed his arms and arched his eyebrow; he wasn’t fond of interruption.

“There’s only five on this floor besides me. We been dyin’ faster than they been replacin’ us. Only real fuckin’ depraved fuckers get tossed in here,” he drew out ‘depraved’ mockingly. “N’ we get forgotted about even when we supposed to get free. Folks die here. Figured I’d die here. Probably still will but maybe now it’ll be with a knife in my back and my hands on ol’ Gutless’ throat.”

“Ol’ Gutless?”

“Jailer on duty tonight. That skinny old fucker lordin’ his keys around like he’s some kind of big-time operator. That piece of garbage takes meals away, has us whipped and beaten, just for lookin’ at him funny. But you look him in the eye an’ threaten ‘im,” he jerked forward, raising his fist to make his point. “An’ he flinches, even through four inches of steel.”

“Gutless.”

“Gutless.”

“The other five, then. Can we trust them to help?” Magus asked.

“I ken so,” Waylon stated. “What’chu say, boys? Wanna get out of this goddamn hole in the ground?”

Hollers and whoops of affirmation accompanied with pounding on the doors seemed to act as confirmation in this place.

“Very well, then,” Magus agreed. “All of you; get away from the doors or you’ll not make it out of your cells.”

The wizard lanced four more of the doors with his Duskstrikes and levelled his hand at the last one.

“Uh, wizard,” Waylon raised his hand to get Magus’ attention. “Maybe you wanna leave that last one.”

Magus sighed. “And why is that?”

“He’s a fuckin’ monster,” came the gravelly voice of a huge, pale, bald man who emerged from his freshly opened cell. He had to duck and twist his body to the side to get through the doorway. The men who’d had to put him there in the first place must have had a terribly miserable experience.

“It’s true,” Waylon affirmed as the others filed out.

A svelte, strong-looking black man, cut up and burned like Waylon was, stepped out into the corridor. Across from him, an old, shambling dwarf appeared. He suffered the same injuries as the rest, including a long gash across his right eye that replaced his sight with a grey iris.

When nobody else emerged, the dwarf hobbled over to the last cell that had been blasted open and poked his head inside. He shook his head and pursed his lips. “Dead. Dinnae survive the bang.”

“Unfortunate,” Magus responded. “We should move. No doubt the guards have heard all this noise and are going to come looking.”

“Guards is yella,” Waylon said. “They fixin’ an ambush for us, most like.”

“Aye,” the dwarf rasped. “Not just guards either, gents. Soldiers be stationed here, too. Ones with real combat training.”

“I can handle some clanking swordsmen,” Magus retorted.

“Aye, judgin’ by how ye bewitched yer way out a wizard-proof cell an’ blasted reinforced steel like it were twigs, it’s not hard to see yer no haver,” the dwarf agreed.

Magus turned over the thought of leaving the ‘monster’ Waylon alluded to behind. If this band of thugs thought the man needed to stay locked up, perhaps Magus wasn’t meant to set him free. Still, someone who’d make men like these so afraid could make a powerful ally…

There would come a time to make that decision but it wasn’t right now, he decided. The Fiendlord led the way up the steps, in front of his new soldiers. As he’d expected, hushed discussion and the scuffling of feet shivered in his ears. Magus put out a hand behind him, signalling the other prisoners to stop, before he continued up the stairway, vanishing in a haze of purple smoke.

Invisible, he silently crept up the last step and onto the landing, peering out into the next cellblock. Guards, some armored and some not, had established a perimeter by entrenching themselves behind overturned tables and stacks of boxes and barrels. A number of crossbowmen lined the fortifications and the rest were armed with swords, axes, and clubs.

Interesting. ‘Ol’ Gutless,’ as Waylon called him, seemed to have lived up to his name. Magus couldn’t spot the old man anywhere in the room.

He made his way closer to the perimeter, careful not to let his footfalls make any sound. He couldn’t just kill them. Not with magic, anyway. The whole point releasing the other prisoners was to make this all look like a jail break.

But he doubted the others could hold their own against this kind of a welcome on their own. He would have to intervene. Carefully.

He reached for his karambit and found it missing. He sneered at the guards, even though they couldn’t see him. What was the point of taking a knife away from a man who could will another into existence.

Magus begrudgingly held out his hand and, with a sigh, he waited. He watched Omnilium bubble and burst from nowhere into two shimmering lines, extending up and down. While he did this, he began to expand his Miasma’s influence in the room, holding its effects back to keep his presence hidden. In time, his hand closed around the handle of the club he’d made and his Miasma was ready.

He appraised the primitive weapon with a dismal look on his face. It was no scythe but he couldn’t risk pinning a murder on himself – it was not enough to kill any witnesses; the powers that be in Camelot would assume Magus was behind it unless someone said otherwise, and that meant at least one person would need to survive to spread word that the wizard had killed no one. Being hunted and then captured had slowed his progress entirely too much.

A thin, greasy grey mist filtered in near the ceiling, settling lower and lower until it darkened in a thick, greasy haze that descended upon the guards. Panic and shouting erupted as Magus slipped over the improvised perimeter and raced through the guards to stand behind them.

He was lucky for them to not notice him, and he didn’t waste the opportunity. One of the axemen had backed away from the others, and toward Magus, who stalked up behind him like a big cat before savagely bludgeoning him near the base of his skull, knocking him out cold without so much as a gasp. The man crumpled to the floor, unheard over the growing cacophony before him.

  Roleplay with Greg (Samus/Enel)

At the time of posting, I am currently looking for new people to role-play with. Check the latest replies for the most up-to-date information. Here is my role-playing etiquette:

When I feel like posting, I post. When the person I'm with feels like posting, they post. They can control my character and I can control theirs. This way when you're really feeling it you don't have to wait on someone else, and you don't feel like you're getting harangued to post when you really don't feel like it. Obviously it's great when you're on a vibe with someone(s) and bouncing off each other, but in the real world it doesn't always work out like that. I'm often busy with staff work and that has to take priority, so someone who is pretty laid back but still active would be good.

Of course, if someone drops out for absolutely months then eventually I'm going to cut them out of my thread. This is more for a week-to-week thing.

I also think it's good to communicate with people to make sure you aren't jacking up their character. If you're not sure about the way one of my characters would act, I'd rather you Skype me. I greatly enjoy the planning aspects of story and bouncing off someone else's ideas, so if you find that fun, that's also a good thing.

Information on my characters:

Samus is basically what you'd expect. Strong, Silent. Strong sense of justice and absolutely unforgiving of the morally corrupt - pirates, slavers and the like. She is slow to trust but those who she comes to trust she trusts absolutely. She would mesh well with any other good characters, for anyone neutral or bad, expect a lot of friction. For full profile, see Character Analysis.

Enel is a murderous lightning-powered sociopath who literally believes he is the one true God. Any partnerships with him are likely to be extremely unstable due to his extremely fricative personality, and thus anyone joining me might want to consider being a rival or taking on the role of one of my NPCs (I have one who I'm going to feature in my dunes story). For full profile, see Personality and Beliefs.
