  Rejoining as Black Mage
Posted by: Chloe Price - 08-22-2015, 08:21 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (2)

First off, I'd like to apologize for how last time around went. I guess the Darkseid event did get a little carried away...Anyway, I'd like to rejoin the Omniverse. I'll try to be more understanding of what's considered a major event and what's not. So, yeah...Hope there's no hard feelings.

Anyway, on with the app.

Character name: Black Mage

Character source: 8 Bit Theater webcomic

Character history: Most of Black Mage's history is unknown. For what is known, Black Mage was kicked out of his school of magic, and met Fighter soon afterwards. Fighter is a swordsman friend who has studied swordsmanship, whilst being a complete idiot and eventually getting kicked out, which is how he met Black Mage. Black Mage soon grew tired of Fighter's idiocy, and tried to kill him with a knife multiple times. Soon, they became adventurers, and were sent to the Giant's Forest to recover the armor of invincibility. They were soon encountered with a giant. Not knowing what to do, Black Mage decided to nuke the entire Giant's Forest as a result. He could only use the spell once per day, which means his encounter with some beasts later was nearly helpless.

And now, he's been warped into the Omniverse.

Physical Description: Not an original, but a pic anyway.

Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF: 1
SPD: 2
TEC: 4

Starting Proficiencies:
Ranged Attack proficiency(1000)
Melee Attack proficiency(1000)

Starting Powers:
(NONE)

Starting Moves:
Knife (300) -A dull, weak weapon, but at least a fast melee attack for close range. Can also be knocked away easily.
Bolt-2 (300) -A lightning spell that fires jolts of lightning at a single target. Quick, but his weaker spell.
Fire-3 (300) -A fire spell that shoots a fireball at a single target. Slower to cast, but his stronger spell.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

Step 1: Make a post. This post should be at least 600 words. You may also post multiple times adding up to 600 words or more.

Step 2: Click on the name of your post. See it? It's probably something like 'Re: The Story of John Doe', a large line of text above your post. This should have a hashtag and your post link at the end of it (see the bolded part on the end here: http://omniverse-rpg.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=1114&p=7298#p7298). Copy the entire URL from your address bar.

Step 3: Post it in the active fortnightly gains topic. The date of your post should be within the date range, GMT. If you are submitting multiple posts that add up to 600, post all the links.

Step 4 (optional): If you have posted in the current book club, please include a link to that post along with the text 'book club'.

Step 5 (optional): If you have a Recognition bonus, please include in your post 'Recognition bonus: +50'. If you have an Ascendancy bonus, please post with 'Ascendancy bonus: +100'.

That's all you need to do! When the topic is updated, you will be given 300 OM. Obviously if you have a recognition or ascendancy bonus, this will be increased by 50 or 100. A book club bonus will increase this by a further 100. If no mod has posted at the end of the topic, then it hasn't been updated yet. You do not need to ask "has the thread been updated? I didn't get my OM" every week.

New fortnightly gains topics go up every second Sunday at midnight (at the end of Saturday and the dawn of Sunday) GMT. The valid time begins on Sunday at 0000 hours GMT and ends on Saturday at 2359 GMT.

  Brotherly Reunion
Posted by: Lemmy Koopa - 08-22-2015, 05:57 PM - Forum: Camelot - Replies (10)

Along the outside of the forest came the blunette who had came out recently after deploying the Koopa Brothers to their duty of looking for the remains of his siblings as he searched out in Camelot, the very place that his adventure began after his arrival from the Nexus. Truth to be told, this was also where he had met his first acquaintance Kopaka who had saved him the trouble of handling with the rogues and with one of Camelot's own discriminatory warriors who mostly had reported him for having an alliance with the Koopa Kingdom.

What sort of individual would do that? Only a pathetic one, that's for sure.

He tsked at the thought of it bothering him, however he will reassure vengeance soon enough, especially with what the rogues did to kill off several good numbers of Koopa Troop members.

One way or another, they will pay.

On his way over, he saw the same tree he rested at from his memory, only to see a flyer with information for a bounty involving him; in absolute disgust, he swiped it clean off in his hands before he blew fire on it and letting it burn before letting it go in the breeze to burn up into nothing but ash.

He wasn't going to tolerate that blasphemy being made about him. Such uncalled nonsense!

Even so, he sighed a bit before he murmured,"This Kingdom..why such a pathetic society? They're no different than the Toads in the Mushroom Kingdom and yet.."

He looked up at the sky to see the floating island in the distance as he continued,"..there are so many mysteries that it has been left to see as open doors for a chance of opportunity for discovery,"

Ludwig for some reason had always wondered what was up there in the floating island in the sunset skies and to be fair, he has heard something about the place from Kamek before he left the Castle onto search effort. Something about mystics, mages and scholars residing up there who treat those who are like them with more respect than the people in Camelot.

Of course, those were Ludwig's type of people; being intellectual has always fascinated the eldest especially with long well-thought discussions exchanging their lessons and experiences with each other. Oh what he what he would give to have someone like that with him!

However, the only smart sibling in the family was Iggy, which was someone he hasn't seen in a good while and in a way, he does kind of miss him despite of his antics. It was a fact that he felt in his being and even he knows that as he lowered his head as he sighed,"All I can ask for is their safety, wherever they are,"
===
In the distance of the situation, out came Jr. Troopa along with the rest of the group as he said,"Alright we're here at Camelot,"

He looked around for a bit and noticed that they came out in time because it was getting dark at where they're at, however in the distance of the situation, he noticed a blunette right next to the tree as he thought what was that.

When Green came onscene, he panted a bit before he looked up to Jr. Troopa as he replied,"We're trying as hard as we can, we don't have bat wings like you do. Respect that,"

It was then and there that Green noticed a blunette and perked up as he grew happy before he turned around as he said to Iggy,"Yo Iggy. Good news! He's up ahead!"

Email: From "Blues" to "Samus Aran"
Posted by: Proto Man - 08-22-2015, 12:29 PM - Forum: Dataverse Messageboards - Replies (2)

Dear Samus,

Hey! I always forget that the Dataverse can be used to send letters. The world I came from had pseudo-sapient robots capable of destroying cities, but for whatever reason, I don't remember email being a thing. I think it's a... what do they call it? A quirk? Robot Masters can communicate with one another over what is essentially a wifi or broadband connection, but the video game consoles could only support 8-bit graphic interfaces and they sold music on these plastic cartridges filled with ribbon.

I met a mouse a few days ago. His name is Mickey. I think he mentioned knowing you? He's probably already been in touch with you... he seems to be a little more on top of things than I am. He and I met Tyrande, who seemed like a nice lady. She has very symmetric facial features. That makes her pretty, if I'm not mistaken? It kind of made me miss that nice lady from the Library, do you remember her?

Anyway, I stopped the Blight... it's still there, but the prime who was spreading it isn't going to threaten anyone anytime soon. Are you all right? I had to watch you die on those video screens, and I'd like to never have to do that again. Those people were jerks. Mickey may have mentioned you are in Camelot again... I hope it's safe from those dragons. Have you found Harry? I still remember when he and I shared soft drinks in his little fortress of wizardry!

I think I typed too much, so I'll stop. Mickey, Mireya (you'd like here -- she's kind of like you a little, only without the metal suit and the guns), and I are going to a place called Ambrosia. Mickey has a wife, and I'm sure she's very pleasant.

Anyway, you take care now, okay? Don't break too many jaws, all right?

~Blues

Temple of the Sun (interest check/OOC)
Posted by: Solaire - 08-22-2015, 01:44 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (14)

I am planning on running a simple game for 2-4 participants. Courier has expressed an interest in RPing with Solaire, so unless there's some last-minute problems I'm considering them to already be part of this group. This will take place in Camelot. There are currently two (2) openings here. It'll be mostly for fun and to get to know a few other members' writing styles, build rapport between characters, and the like.

The Sell: Long has the Temple of the Sun been whispered of in southeast Camelot. A desolate place, one of crumbling stone and dense vegetation, this temple is said to be devoted to one of the forgotten deities of Primes long passed on from this world. They say that there are foul beasts residing there--men without identities, without souls. Demons of all description. A terrifying guardian who keeps watch over the whole of the long-forsaken place. Yet, rumors also persist of a great treasure, concealed within the auld chamber of worship itself.

Taking inspiration from the way based Gildarts is running the secondary saga, I plan on running this adventure in "phases", and I'm thinking there will be 4 in total, as follows:

Investigation Phase: involves the player characters doing independent investigation on the temple of the sun, to provide background fluff for why they'd be interested in such a thing.
Convergence Phase: This phase will involve players gathering together, establishing motives for working together--complex or shallow, we'd need them so it's good to have a phase for it--and possibly see how much synergy we can get out of combat.
Trials of the Sun Phase: This phase involves actually exploring the temple, seeing its unique sights and fighting many foes along the way. Expect a difficult but satisfying journey.
Dark Souls Boss Fight Phase: There will be a very difficult boss encounter, which will constitute the entirety of Phase 4.

So... anybody interested? Smile

  McNinja Doesn't Steal Panties
Posted by: Dr. McNinja - 08-21-2015, 04:59 PM - Forum: The Tangled Green - Replies (2)

"YEEEEHAWWWW"

Dr. McNinja giggled like a small child, waving his katana in the air. His groin was starting to ache, but it was totally worth it, given that he was currently riding a velociraptor bareback.

Yoshi screeched as Doc spurred him forward. They were dashing along the familiar white hollowness of the Nexus. It took Doc some time and a considerable amount of Omnilium to summon his partner’s mount, and he wasn’t as fast or comfortable as Sparklelord, but then again, Yoshi wasn’t an omnicidal unicorn from an alternate dimension that corrupted his soul. Probably. Needless to say, this was way faster than just walking back to the Tangled Green. And plus, he got to look like he was part of a dinosaur cavalry.

After only about two hours’ travel, Yoshi rushed through the portal to the Tangled Green. As he entered it, it was hard to ignore the giant masses of red, white and blue that were moving in the distance.

“Is that Captain America next to Optimus Prime?” Dr. McNinja thought to himself as the familiar flash of white light drowned his eyes.

***

Yoshi slowly jogged to a stop and stood panting in the lovely forest. The gate to the Nexus shimmered right behind him as Yoshi sniffed around, processing the forest in his mind. The squirrel that Doc had crushed on his first visit here was now a pile of fungus that glowed a menacing red color.

“Lovely,” Doc said, “Let’s go, Yoshi."

Yoshi responded with a slow trot down the path. Dr. McNinja was not a fan of forest air. One would ask why his office was in the woods. He honestly had no idea. His thoughts were interrupted when, after a few minutes of travel, Yoshi stopped in his tracks. A nearby stream was flowing with gorgeous, clear water. Yoshi stopped next to it and started slurping up the water like a puppy would. Doc patted his neck.

“Don’t drink too much at once, it’s bad for you.”

Yoshi lifted his dripping maw and roared, “SKREEEEE” into Dr. McNinja’s face, firing a shotgun blast of drool and snot towards his mask. Dr. McNinja wiped it off with his coat sleeve.

“Yeah, yeah,” he mumbled.

Doc frowned as he tried to meditate. His entire time in the Omniverse, he had been thrown around and captured and dragged on volcanic rock and arrested by Stormtroopers, of all things, and he hadn’t had any time to figure out things for himself. He had so much chaos going on. It was as if Omni was keeping him busy on purpose, so that he wouldn’t have time to really think about what to do. To be fair, he wasn’t sure either. Now that he was a Cygnus Knight or whatever, he probably had duties. It was high time he tried to settle down somewhere. New Ereve seemed a better place than any, given that that was the only place in the Omniverse where not everyone wanted to kill him.

Yoshi finished drinking his water and looked at Doc expectantly. Dr. McNinja nodded and climbed onto his back again. Rearing once, and shrieking again, Yoshi began to briskly trot down the rough forest path.

The sunlight gleamed quite beautifully through the canopy of the forest. To be fair, it was also annoying, as light flickered and danced in Doc’s eyes, but nevertheless the light revealed floating pollen and dust specks that swirled like some airborne tide. Doc observed the mossy bark on the trees. The path grew darker as Doc followed it. The forest seemed to close in on itself and the trees began to strangle the sun. Just like last time he was here.

What else happened last time?

THUNK

A throwing star landed in a tree where Doc had been riding seconds ago.

“Oh yeah I got attacked by ninjas.” Dr. McNinja kicked Yoshi with both feet and leaned forward, crying, “Hiyah!”

Yoshi turned around and glared at Doc indignantly.

“What?” Dr. McNinja whimpered, “It works with horses.”

Dozens more THUNKs greeted the pair as the tree became covered in throwing stars.

“Yoshi can we plEASE LEAVE RIGHT NOW” Doc shouted fearfully.

“SKREEE” Yoshi replied, then started sprinting along the path. As the velociraptor charged, Dr. McNinja looked up at the branches. Standard ninja training instructed one that, when chasing a target in forests, to hop along tree branches. These ninjas were no exceptions, and Doc saw momentary glimpses of black flash in and out of vision.

Doc prepared two throwing stars from his coat pocket as arrows and throwing stars showered the ground underneath Yoshi’s feet. Yoshi had begun to swerve left and right to avoid the deadly projectiles, but Dr. McNinja was not nonplussed. He might say he was very plussed. Then, Doc told himself, he might have to question the American secondary education system, considering that he had learned all that they could teach him and he still couldn’t speak proper English.

Dr. McNinja blindly threw the stars upwards at an angle, hoping it would hit at least something. Doc heard several grunts, and heard the lovely sound of assassins falling to the ground from a large height. Yoshi whipped around and headed towards the noise.

“Yoshi,” Doc whispered to the velociraptor, “I need to get up there.”

Yoshi screeched in understanding and leapt into the air. At the height of the dinosaur’s jump, Dr. McNinja jumped with all his might. He landed softly on another branch and jumped forward into a cluster of leaves, impossibly silently, and waited to ambush the remaining attackers. From the looks of it, Yoshi had the same thought, for he was nowhere to be seen.

The ninjas all seemed to gather around their wounded. Both stars had found a target, and other ninjas seemed to have collided with them and tumbled to the ground.

“You fake!” one of them shouted upwards in sheer fury, “You try and mimic ninjutsu, and use it for your own evil desires!”

Dr. McNinja frowned. There was no mimicking here. He truly had mastered ninjutsu.

“You should be ashamed of yourself! You bring dishonor to our clan!”

A bush right behind the shouting ninja rustled. The entire team turned around, panicking. Another bush rustled. The ninjas formed a ring, preparing for the next ambush. Then, the one who had been shouting turned and saw a glint somewhere in a bush. An eye.

“Kashikoi on’nanako,*” the ninja murmured.

Quote:* Clever girl.

Dr. McNinja watched as Yoshi lunged forward and tore many of the ninjas a new one. Doc himself attached a grappling hook to the noisy ninja and yanked him up into his cluster of leaves. The other ninjas cried out in pain and whimpered as they died.

Meanwhile, Dr. McNinja gripped the ninja by the collar of his robes and glared into his eyes.

“I’m not sure why you’re talking sh*t but you guys are really gonna have to stop this ambush business. You’re terrible at it.”

“We will never stop fighting you, you disgrace! Your people parody our ways like clowns, then-“

“Whoa, whoa, my people?” Doc said, “Are there other McNinjas in the Omniverse?”

“So that’s what you call yourselves, eh?” the ninja snarled, “The McNinjas? Even the name is some sick parody of true ninjas.”

“We are real ninjas,” Doc growled, “We learned from a master and have passed on his lessons throughout generations. They’re actually kinda boring but hey, no pain no gain. Also there was a thing with shamrocks, apparently. Point is, we’re the real deal.”

“The ‘real deal’ doesn’t steal panties from teenage girls,” the ninja snarled.

Dr. McNinja raised an eyebrow.

“WHAT.”

“Please. Don’t feign ignorance. We all know what your ’ninja training’ is really for.”

“I think you got the wrong person,” Dr. McNinja stammered, “I uh... don’t steal panties.”

“Well, who would you be? There are no other ninjas here. Unless you’re claiming to be a Prime!”

The ninja scoffed, then scowled.

“Hang on, did you say McNinja? As in the doctor?”

“Go home,” Doc snarled, “Tell your clan… They’ve got the wrong man.”

Dr. McNinja let the grappling hook stay in the ninja’s robes as he dropped him off of the branch. The ninja screamed in fear as he tumbled down, only to be stopped by the rope. He was stuck, dangling there, shouting profanities in Japanese. Meanwhile, Doc hopped out of the tree and dropped onto Yoshi’s back. Yoshi purred.

“Yeah! That’s right! Clever girl!” Doc cooed, petting Yoshi’s neck.

Yoshi purred again, and closed his eyes in pleasure. Suddenly, he feigned snapping his jaws at him, then screeched again. Dr. McNinja leaned back.

“Okay, I get it,” Doc said, “If I kick you again, you’re going to eat me. Understood.”

Yoshi snorted indignantly and started trotting down the path again, leaving velociraptor footprints and a slaughtered group of ninjas, with one survivor.

  Captain and Optimus in Camelot
Posted by: The Vision - 08-21-2015, 01:08 PM - Forum: Camelot - Replies (9)

Captain America Wrote:The light vanished as quickly as it appeared, leaving spots across Cap's vision. From what he could tell, they were in some sort of forest, mildly remeniscient of an English Summer. He wondered for a fleeting moment if they had ended up in the Savage Land.

"Interesting," Optimus observed. "These kinds of environments never existed on Cybertron."

Cap nodded in silent acknowledgement and scanned his surroundings more carefully. He could hear the twitters and wingbeats of various birds and spotted tracks of what looked like horses and bears scattered around the clearing where they stood. Rogers notice what seemed to be a partially worn path through the brush and pointed towards it. "My instincts say we follow these tracks. And trust me... my instincts are never wrong." He drew his shield out of habit and submerged himself in the thick foliage.

Captain America didn't know what to expect besides trouble. He could hear as much as feel the Autobot's heavy footsteps... unless that was his heartbeat? People make the mistake of assuming Steve was never afraid. They couldn't be more wrong. As a soldier, Cap had made fear go from a hated enemy to trusted ally. Hopefully the fear he felt now wouldn't be the former.

There were voices whispering through the trees as the two warriors silently traveled on their way. "Perhaps we may find refuge among these people," Optimus rumbled quietly. Cap was more cautious. "Can't just barge in there and assume their friendly, soldier." His vernacular reverted to his Nazi-fighting days, Cap continued his warning. "Last time I made an assumption I lost a friend." Bucky's face as Steve fell away from that dreaded missile flashed for a moment in his mind. He then remembered that he spoke to an equally qualified leader and turned to speak directly to the Prime. "Any ideas?"

Optimus frowned and gazed upon the trees. "Of course they are not to be trusted. But... frankly, I don't think stealth is my strong suit, in this case. I have a big head... and also big arms."

Captain looked the robot up and down. "That... That is true."

"Perhaps... You can be stealthy," Optimus rumbled, "I will attract their attention. If they are hostile, I am sure that I can take their fire. Meanwhile, you could probably use your own fire to take some of them out. Do you have any firepower?"

Captain chuckled, slightly embarrassed. "Gotta admit, no. I don't do guns much. But I do have an ace up my sleeve."

Optimus frowned. "I... do not understand."

Captain laughed and said, "Oh, believe me, Optimus, I know that feeling."

The robot turned his head. "Very well. I'll make myself conspicuous, pretend to be unaware of their presence. You will disguise yourself and attack if the targets are hostile. Do you agree?"

  Magic Realm
Posted by: Tearen Wover - 08-21-2015, 09:22 AM - Forum: The Arcade - Replies (16)

So, if you haven't heard me gushing about this already; I'm infatuated with a board game called Magic Realm. It has an online application that can be downloaded at: http://realmspeak.dewkid.com/downloads

It runs in Java, and has no animations or anything fancy (just like a real board game!), so even the most humble of toasters can run it. It is freeware though, so setting it up can be a bit finicky. As is the game itself.

Magic Realm is essentially a tabletop rogue-like in which you can choose any number of character (or make your own!) and define your own conditions for victory. The rules are very...unique...and can take a while to get the hang of, and the gameplay itself is very difficult and requires a lot of tactical thinking. If you like Dark Souls or things like that, this game will tickle you.

So if anyone ever wants to get their Epic Survival Fantasy on, lemme know and I'll get us going.
