Greetings, everyone!

Due to a variety of circumstances, staff has been having trouble in keeping everything updated. This has resulted in (significant) delays, which has in turn resulted in some frustration and discontent among members. This is perfectly understandable and we have no qualms about the fact that people bump the relevant threads and remind us that things require updating. We make mistakes and miss things, so it's perfectly reasonable for members to ask again that we take a look at something we neglected.

Unfortunately, this has also lead to some members pestering and making snarky remarks at staff members via the Mini-Chat and PMs, making the life of those staff members very unpleasant. Leaving the fact that requesting for game-related updates in the Mini-Chat isn't allowed aside, it is worth reminding everyone that this isn't our job. While our dedication and sense of obligation to the site do make us try to help keep things running as much as we can, we're neither willing nor are we able to be on call 24/7. Sometimes, even we just want to be able to take our time to relax and hang out with the rest of the community; after all, our wonderful community is partially what motivated us to become staff in the first place.

As such, we would kindly request that members do not harass staff members for updates via Mini-Chat, PMs or other personal contacts. If there is anything that hasn't been updated in more than 72 hours. you may call attention to it by posting in the relevant threads or in the Help Desk. We apologise if our response time has been less than stellar in recent times, but this isn't because we don't pay attention to the forums. So please use appropriate channels for any game-related updates. It makes life easier for everyone involved and also ensures that a staff member will get to your request in due time.

We are not only already working on catching up with unfinished updates, but also on making structural changes to staff that will ensure more prompt updates in the future. So we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. Thank you.

Day 1 - Some kind of afterlife
Posted by: Corporal Light - 10-06-2015, 05:45 PM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (3)

Darkness. Darkness everywhere. It seemed to be all-consuming, like even a light couldn't extinguish it. Fire couldn't, not even from the wick, which is saying something in and of itself. Fire from wick could burn forever if one wanted it to, something about striking a wick against a hard surface, seeing it spark for a few moments, seeing the sparks fall against the snow. Then finally seeing the wick light up, feeling the warmth of the fire against your hand. Given a few seconds, he could probably remember the feeling of downright joy when he first felt the comfort of fire. It was back at Frozen Over, inside his house with his family. They were sitting next to the fireplace, reading over some kind of story. He couldn't remember the exact words, but they were evidently important to everyone else around him, as he could remember seeing his mother letting a few tears loose by the time it was over. An emotional moment, it must have been... too bad the darkness around him would probably crush his spirits no matter what positive thoughts ran across his mind.

That's when he realized his eyes were closed. Cursing himself silently for making such an idiot mistake on his part, he slowly opens them, only to be met with the exact same darkness. So dark, in fact, he thought that his eyes were still closed for a few seconds. It was then that he noticed a smiling figure somewhere off in the distance. He couldn't move at all, and that's when he realized the position he was in. He was lying on the ground, or what was supposed to be the ground, even though there wasn't any ground below him. That makes no damn sense whatsoever. How can one be lying on the ground without a ground to speak of? Just bouncing the question around in his head was just gonna give him a headache, so he resolved to just concentrate on the smiling silhouette.

At this time, the figure appeared to be talking, about what he didn't entirely understand. He mentioned something about the... Omniverse? He didn't remember anyone mentioning that... at any point.. What was it? Just then, a rainbow orb blasting colors all over appeared in front of him, causing a great pain in his eyes. The colors briefly illuminated the darkness, though it was just giving Ballad a good amount of discomfort. Damn his inability to close his eyes... or move.. pain..

It was then that he realized that his left arm, specifically the shoulder portion of it, was paining him greatly. Why, he couldn't recall. In fact, he couldn't remember ANYTHING from about a week in the past. The only thing he did know was that he invented a gun, used a pickaxe a lot, escaped a war, lived alone in a shack, and his arm hurt like hell. Oh, and he was stuck inside a pitch black void called the Omniverse. Go figure.

These thoughts ran through his head, almost forgetting the seizure orb flashing colors in his face before snapping back to reality, listening to the smiling figures explanations. It was apparently called... Omnillium. It can do anything, apparently... like the wick. Or at least a counterpart. The special wick established entire industries, and helped found one. Rather strange...

Continuing to stare at the orb, he grows a little bit tense inside his chest as the orb suddenly dashes towards him, impacting with his body. He doesn't move, and he feels no pain. Or at least no pain from the impact of the orb itself. Speaking of pain, one thing the smiling figure was telling him was that he basically couldn't die. He didn't really know how to feel about that. For starters, that essentially meant he could be tortured forever and feel eternal pain, and he would probably go completely fucking nut-bonkers if that happened. He decided not to think about that any longer than he should.

Suddenly, the smiling figure starts to disappear. At first, Ballad took this as a sign that he was basically going to be left alone forever and ever. Normally, he'd be perfectly okay with this, but he couldn't move AT ALL. What if he had to go to the bathroom? Would he be laying there with eternal constipation? What about food and drink? He'd be sitting there, slowly starving to death and silently begging for water. Only he couldn't starve "to death" or "dehydrate" because he COULDN'T DIE. This entire thing is some sort of weird torture session or something.

Just as he thought he couldn't lay still any longer, the darkness around him begins to fade. Just as quickly as it faded did Ballad become transported to a far different landscape. He was now laying down on a hard, white floor. It felt cold, though he hardly paid attention to it. He grew accustomed to it a long time ago. In front of him was a fountain, with his ears picking up the sound of flowing water from the fountain. He could feel his stomach start to feel a sense of desperation, realizing he hadn't even tried to take a breath. He slowly attempts to breathe, letting out the breath when he feels his stomach muscles move, taking in his breath. He then rolls his eyes down to his torso, seeing his left arm slumped against his left side, his left hand wrapped a little bit around his stomach. Okay, he can breathe, and he can move his eyes around. Time to try the next best thing: wiggling your finger. Slowly, he felt his left index finger wiggle about on his chest. Letting out a satisfied sigh, slowly sliding his hand down to the ground. He slowly pushes himself off of the ground, finding that his left arm doesn't hurt anymore. Groaning, he stands up, looking towards the fountain. He then moves his hands around his body, seeing he had clothes on. Winter clothing, to be exact. He had a red scarf around his mouth, muffling his voice slightly whenever he spoke. On his head was a green trapper hat, clipped around his chin, which explains why he didn't see it fall off when he stood up. He had a green winter coat on, made of what looked to be furs on it, with similarly green pants that were comparable in feeling to silk. His hands were covered in black, leather gloves, and his feet were covered in black winter boots. Those same boots also appeared to be covered in snow, which looked astoundingly similar to the white floor underneath him.

As his right hand slid down his hip, he felt a slightly bulge underneath his coat. Confused, he slowly parts the coat, revealing a belt with plenty of bags, as well as a leather holster. Opening up the leather holster, he pulled out a black, stainless steel revolver. Just then, he remembered. Oh yeah! I made this gun, among about.. hundreds, I think. Double-action... six shots.. hardly any recoil and no drop in accuracy. A true masterpiece. Chuckling to himself, he slides the gun back into its holster, opening up the bags, revealing a bunch of ammunition for the revolver. Continuing to pat himself over, he feels a sudden weight against his back. Annoyed, he turns his head, seeing two straps against his left arm. Connected to those straps was a two-handed pickaxe. Mining pickaxe, to be exact. He should know, considering he's worked with one all his life.

After taking a few minutes to inspect himself and his arsenal, he looks back up to see the fountain. It was about as white as literally everything else in the area, with the only color being the blue water that flowed from it. It had about three levels, each one getting smaller as it went upwards. The levels themselves were circular, with a bunch of ornate decorations to them. The sound of the water called to him, and he smacked his lips a bit underneath his scarf. His tongue felt dry, like he hadn't drank in a while. That's when a light bulb lit up in his head. Didn't that smiling guy mention that this... Omnillium could do pretty much anything? Let's start with making a canteen!

He slowly holds his left hand out into the air, palm facing the sky, or what was probably a sky, considering it was the exact color as literally everything else in that area. Ballad stares at his hand, closing his eyes, thinking of a canteen. Anything that can carry water. Anything. Holy shit, what is taking so long?! Ballad was getting pretty impatient by the time he opened his eyes, only to see the canteen was already in his hand. About three minutes had passed by this time, something Ballad hadn't realized. He was concentrating pretty damn hard.

Opening the canteen, he walks up to the fountain, canteen in his left hand. He then pulls back his scarf, having to tug rather hard due to how tight it was. He then gracefully glides the tip of the canteen against the water, filling the canteen. He then leans his head back, downing a few gulps of water before capping it back up, making a satisfied grunt. He then clips the canteen to his belt, turning away from the fountain. He looks off into the distance, the situation finally seeming to take hold of his mind. He was in a completely white area... with seemingly no way out.. with a fountain to give him water. And he can make literally anything in the world. After some thought, he could only say this:

"What is this place? Some kind of afterlife?"

How does one upgrade an NPC with a move that they may have acquired over time since their inception? I want to give Nova the blue lightsaber from my first thread on Coruscant as a move so she can use it. Do you resubmit the NPC for approval?

  De-Cluttering the Move threads
Posted by: Ururu Kyuuei - 10-06-2015, 05:54 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (20)

Sooo, what I propose is something that will make move workshop and move approval a bit less of a cluster of one thread and something a bit more stream lined where things don't get left behind and there is a visible sign showing when someone's stuff hasn't been touched in a while.

A Registration Forum of sorts.

Just need one forum really, people post their a thread for their moves, list in the topic either [Open] or [Approval] since they'll be editing it themselves it shouldn't be much of a problem. In Open we treat the threads like the work shop. We can ask questions and have a proper discussion without cluttering the thread up since the first post will remain the most important one which contains the moves in their most final form needing to be reviewed so all major edits happen there anyways.

When enough people have signed off or when the creator feels ready, they can switch their thread to [Approval] and then its the staff's turn. This gives the staff the advantage of having the communities feed back and thought process that went into the changes. Once approved, the thread can simply be archived in a sub forum.

This will also give the community an idea of who hasn't been looked at in a while as the oldest untouched thread will be at the bottom of the forum.

  Off-White
Posted by: Weiss Schnee - 10-06-2015, 01:16 AM - Forum: Camelot - Replies (1)

Weiss's gaze shifted from side to side, evaluating the different stands in this less crowded area. Weiss couldn't really find much motivation to eat, or train, but she knew she couldn't let her apathy stop her. Even if her stomach felt numb and her feet felt like they pushed through molasses with every step, she didn't really have a choice. She needed to win that tournament. So instead of what she wanted to do - find a corner and stay there - she pushed towards a nearby stand selling some sort of meat on a stick. It wasn't the most nutritious thing Weiss had ever seen, but it was the first thing she'd seen that wasn't covered in syrup or batter all day. "better than nothing. which is exactly what I've eaten before now."
A middle-aged man stared back at her, a dark-skinned man with more than a little paunch, and a rather well-tended white beard. "Looking to get a kebab?" the man said with a smile.
"Um, yes. Um..." Weiss stammered, realizing she didn't have money. What was that thing the mask salesman had said before.
"Alright. I just need a bit of omnilium in return." The man said with a calm smile.
Weiss realized she didn't know how to give him any - or if she had any to spare. "Well... I don't really... Know how." Weiss said with a bit of shyness. She wasn't really used to admitting any lack of knowledge, but in this new place she felt more like an infant than anything.
The man studied her face for a bit. "new prime, yeah? I don't know what misery Omni plucked you out of, but it shows on your face."
"It's none of your business!" Weiss growled, before taking a slight breath.
The man's face fell a bit, as his tone changed from jovial to apologetic. "Yeah... You're right, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry."
Weiss took a deep breath. "...And I... Didn't mean to snap." she managed.
she felt something brush past her hand, and as she looked she realized the man had pushed one of his kebab's into her outstretched hand. "Here. You look like you could stand to eat. My wife would kill me if I let a nice young lady like yourself go hungry." The man said. "think of it as an apology for my rudeness."
Weiss looked at the kebab for a moment. Something dimly in her head registered this as the first good thing that had happened to her since she hit the omniverse.
Other than getting to hallucinate her teammate, she guessed.
"...Thank you. Umm..." Weiss breathed, thinking of what she needed to say next. "I need to ask you. About this place. About... What I am."
The man looked at her with a small amount of shock. “...Yeah. I guess I can explain that a little. but first - introductions. My name is Tom. And you are?”
“Weiss. Weiss Schnee.” she answered with a forced smile.
Tom nodded. “Good name. I’m a bit jealous, but now, onto yer question...
I’m guessing you already heard some of the basics from the grinnin’ guy, but to put it simply… The difference between you and us comes down to two things.” Tom explained. “The first is that any prime what dies comes back in three days.”
“three days!” Weiss thought to herself. Such a short amount of time was… Hardly a penalty at all. Weiss didn’t imagine that people’d revive quite so fast.
“Yeah, primes are basically immortal. Though there is a way to literally be banished to hell, so don’t get cocky about it.” Tom told her, concern in his eyes as he stated it.
“...Yeah.” Weiss managed to reply.
Tom paused for a moment, before continuing.
“The second thing is that you’re one of the few people that can process and use raw omnilium.”
Weiss quirked her eyebrow at that. ‘what’s that mean, exactly?”
Tom seemed to struggle with the words for a moment before continuing. “Well, to put it as simple as I can, you can absorb omnilium, manifest it, turn it into just about anything you can imagine, and use it to increase your own powers. You’re also one of the few beings here that can actually improve. It means a lot of us secondaries - people brought here by primes, that’s one of the ways you can use your omnilium - Don’t exactly take kindly to primes, mind you. You’re sort of the upper class.
Detested by people due to how she was brought into the world, regardless of any of her actions after appearing in it? Weiss definitely wasn’t tired of that song and dance.
God forbid anyone judge her on what she’d done with her life instead of how she came by it.
“...So how do I do that?” Weiss asked finally, more than a bit of impatience bleeding through.
“Just concentrate, mostly. it apparently comes natural to primes so long as they have a clear goal in mind.” Tom explained.
Weiss was surprised by how simple the whole idea behind this seemed to be. “So that’s all I have to do?”
Tom scratched his head. “well… you also have to concentrate on what it’s actually supposed to do. If you just focus on a dragon, you can bring in a really big dragon, but if you’re not thinking ‘bout how strong the dragon is, a mouse could bite it and it’d bring it down. you also need to have enough omnilium. If you don’t… It doesn’t really help you at all.”

Weiss thought about that. So she needed to think about what she wanted, and hope she had enough to get it. her eyes drifted down, towards Myrtenaster’s empty dust chambers. If she could get just one crystal ready, her chances in the tournament would skyrocket.
“...Alright. Is there… anything else?” Weiss asked, a foreign exhaustion already folding over her like a dense blanket. She knew she should have felt grateful to the man, maybe even a little happier with her chances in the tournament.
She couldn’t really manage to feel much other than “tired” though.
“No, that’s about it. Uhhh… Listen. You’re in the tournament, yeah?” Tom asked her.
“Yeah, like I said.”
The man smiled. “Listen… That kebab’ll probably do ya for now, but if you want real, honest food rather than the glorified candy they’re serving… come on by here in the morning. I’ll make you a proper meal.”
Weiss couldn’t imagine eating again that soon as she felt now. She could barely stomach the thought of the kebab she’d just bought. But she knew it was vital, so she managed a nod.
“Great. I’ll see you then!
“...See you.” Weiss managed weakly, before walking away. A good part of her realized she was being rude, but she just couldn’t manage to say another word.
Instead, she walked away, walking towards a grassy area just on the edge of the carnival area.
There, she could test out if she could make dust. She would eat. And then she’d finally answer the constant call for sleep her body cried out for.

  Discussion on Move Approval Procedure.
Posted by: Shade - 10-05-2015, 10:53 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (19)

I feel that the current procedure that the Move Approval process entails needs to be discussed. Some members, including myself, have had Move Approval Requests skipped a number of times and would like to have this address. Regardless of the reason, a Request being skipped should at least be responded to with a reason for it, otherwise the member whose Request is being skipped may feel like they are being ignored.

There are always times where things are missed purely on accident, which is perfectly fine and no cause for pitchforks, but the reason that this is become such an issue for some is that as of recent, there have bee a number of requests skipped more than once or twice, and those requests have not been addressed despite being quoted and re-requested a number of times.

For example, I have a Move that I have been trying to get approved since before Sept. 18th, and has barely even been touched or asked for tweaks to be made. I believe Desco had a move skipped a number of times as well, but that's for her to speak to.

I am in no way saying that the Staff is doing a shit job, or that I can do it better, or anything that degrades the wonder job staff does for us for completely free, but what I am saying that in light of these events, I think it would be best for the system's development if we took time to discuss this in an organized and intelligent manor.

I understand that there has be a shortage of staff lately, due to most of them dealing with real life obligations, which is more than understandable, and along with this, there has bee some back u on staff duties like Move Approval. If we were to remedy this, by maybe adding some more specialized individuals to help with the process, maybe the whole thing can be relieved.

My first suggestion is this; Outside of straight up adding more staffers, maybe we create another thread where move are refined by individuals who we feel grasp the combat system(s) well can help people refine their moves. This would be something more official than the Move Creation Workshop (Which I personally don't even use because i feel it's very disorganized and archaic, no offense to those who like to use it.). This would then allow for essentially the Pre-Approval of moves, which are then looked at by the staffers who have the actual authority to approve moves for use.

Now this may add another level of bureaucracy to the system, but it will also free up the Staff to focus on more important and streamlined things, and allowing those of us without those responsibilities to help polish up most moves that come through before the staff has to use their time on them.

I believe we can all agree that there have been move pushed through the Move Approval Thread that were less than perfect. (I am not pointing fingers, but referencing instead moves that I know have bee less then perfect but pushed through anyway.)

What thoughts do you all have on what I've proposed? Does anyone have any ideas of their own?

Also, I do request, for the sake of a coherent argument and organized thread, that if you make a claim about something, you provide evidence of it if possible. Also, do not bad mouth the staff. If you have a claim about how the system is not working, say so, but it is more often then not, not the fault of the staff themselves, but the system in which they have to work.

Thank you for your civility.

The Yellow Flash and The Village of Mokugakure
Posted by: Minato Namikaze - 10-05-2015, 09:42 PM - Forum: The Tangled Green - Replies (19)

The streets of Ambrosia were about as full as when he had came here a few hours ago. There weren’t many people, but his main focus was the out of place ninja that was walking just ahead of him. Minato wasn’t being overly cautious here, there were too many people for a full fledged fight to break out in the middle of the City. No, it was after the both of them left the City of Ambrosia itself that the real battle would begin. Minato knew this, and so did the dark man he was tailing. Where was he going? Was he on a mission? Who was he supposed to be reporting back to? All of these questions ran through Minato’s mind as he tailed the man. The only strange thing about the man was the fact that he didn't have a Forehead Protector. If it was a new Village, then they probably didn’t have time to set all of that little stuff up. That, or he’s a rogue Ninja, which meant that Minato would have to be careful.

The two ninja had reached the exit of Ambrosia, neither of the two men hesitated as they neared their exit into the dense forest that surrounded the city. Minato was impressed, this guy didn’t break his concentration, nor did he ever look back at Minato. So either he was confident in himself, or he had no Idea that Minato was following him. As the two passed through the entrance into the forest the Ninja that Minato had been following stopped and looked around, Minato walked up to him in an attempt to greet him. The man had caught Minato off guard. Before he knew it, he’d launched his foot into Minato’s stomach and jumped up into the trees. Minato clung to his stomach for a few seconds, the pain felt stronger than it usually had in the past. And he’d been impaled through the stomach by the Kyuubi’s claw without dying instantly.

‘Yep... Definitely not as strong as I used to be.’ Minato coughed as he grasped his stomach and looked up at the Ninja who was running from him. Minato didn’t have much time, if he was going to get his information, he needed to catch this man right now. Minato stood up, re-positioned his forehead protector and then took off along the forest’s floor. Minato was naturally speedy, his quick thinking and high reflexes had helped him a lot, but he was also one of the fastest ninja around. It was time to use his Flying Raijin. Minato reached into his kunai holster, pulled out his three pronged kunai, and tossed it at his opponent. The man turned in mid air and deflected it with his own kunai, but Minato had already made his move.

With a flash of yellow light. Minato had disappeared and reappeared at the kunai’s location. Minato grasped the kunai with his right hand, using it to deflect the Ninja’s own kunai bombardment. The Man’s eyes stared straight at Minato, their colour no longer black but rather, they were a crimson red with three tomoe sitting around a black pupil.

‘Uchiha?’ Minato thought to himself as he kicked the Uchiha man in the stomach and sent him crashing into the dirt below them. He hadn’t expected it, but it made sense. The way he dressed and the way he looked, Minato should have known right from the beginning. Minato landed on the ground in front of his Uchiha opponent. The man looked up at him with a smirk as he took in a deep breath. Minato almost instantly realized what his opponent had done on his way down to the ground. Minato held his hand up, gathering chakra as it began to spin and rotate in the palm of his hand. His opponent had prepared a fireball jutsu, and he had no time to get away. The only thing he could think of doing was dispersing the fire with one of his own Jutsu.

‘Rasengan!’ Minato howled as both he and his Uchiha opponent released their Jutsu. Minato’s Rasengan collided with the fireball with a force that almost knocked him off of his feet, Minato could only stand and watch as the Rasengan in his palm slowly dispersed the flames. By now, the Uchiha had already taken the time to get away from him.

‘Why are you following me?’ A voice spoke out as Minato felt the cold touch of a steel kunai knife at his throat.

‘I just wanted to talk, you’re the one who attacked first.’ Minato replied as he poked at the Uchiha’s stomach with the point of his own kunai knife. ‘Now the question is… Are you confident you can cut my throat before I can react?’ Minato grinned.

The confident scoff that came from the man as Minato asked his question was the perfect signal, one that Minato had been waiting for the entire time the man’s kunai has been at his throat. The Uchiha gasped in disbelief as he was given no choice but to watch Minato disappear in a flash of yellow light, only to reappear behind the man. The roles of the two ninja had been reversed

‘Now… Can we please work this out without cutting each others throats?’ Minato questioned as he held his kunai against the man’s throat. Kind of hypocritical of him, but he needed to get his point across. The man nodded slowly, almost as if he hesitated with his movements. Minato relaxed his muscles and took his weapon away from the man’s throat, placing it back in it’s holster. The man jumped forward and turned around, his sharingan still activated, still tracking every little move Minato made.

‘Hello, my name is Minato.’ His statement was strong and firm, the Uchiha man looked at him and recognized the name and knelt down on his right knee.

‘Lord Fourth, I am so sorry for attacking you earlier. My name is Izanami.’ Izanami’s words felt sincere and, to be completely honest, Minato was surprised that the man hadn’t recognized him sooner. But he’d probably been here for a long time, him being here proves that Minato wasn’t the first person brought to this world, and who knows how old this place actually is… Minato smiled at the man and gestured for Izanami to stand.

‘What are you doing here?’ minato asked as he looked around at the forest around him. It was dense, and the sounds that could be heard coming from within it sounded guttural and primal. As if everything that lived within the forest wanted to kill them, as if the forest itself wanted to kill them.

‘It seems Dangerous, but it’s safe. The animals of this forest are part of the reason no one has attacked the Village yet.’ Izanami explained to Minato as they looked at each other. Minato’s initial intuition was right, there was a Hidden Village somewhere in this forest. Now he just had to make it there. Minato nodded at his new friend and then looked back to the forest. A noise had caught his attention, it wasn't a loud noise but rather a soft noise. A noise that you wouldn't have heard unless you were specifically listening for it. It sounded as if leaves had been knocked off of a branch in one of the trees by them.

‘Have they been following you for long?’ Minato asked as he placed his hand over his kunai.

‘Since I got to Ambrosia.’ Izanami frowned, his response was soft and direct. He clearly didn’t want to let whoever it was know that both He and Minato were aware of their presence. ‘They fell back a little when we started fighting.’

‘I see…’ Minato responded as he placed his hand on his hip. His voice was low and his lips moved only to the slightest degree. He didn’t want to let them know that he knew they were there. If they were going to be ambushed, he’d rather be prepared for it.

‘So... shall we get going?’ Minato questioned happily as his serious demeanor took a sudden one hundred and eighty degree turn. In truth, he really did just want to get going. He really did want to get to the village to see who was running it, but he also needed to look for a nice spot for their impending fight. There was no way of getting around it, if they ran now, then whoever was following them would know that they had realized they were there. The only option was to continue as normal.

Minato smiled at Izanami warmly, gesturing for him to take the lead.
