A Demon and a Ghost walk into a bar...
Posted by: Kuzuru - 10-20-2015, 12:10 AM - Forum: The Tangled Green - Replies (11)

Perfection.

Perfection was the goal. Every strike and every slash had to be perfect. No movement could be wasted, every maneuver had to have purpose. Renji scowled, striking out for the hundredth time. Ever since Kuzuru had sealed himself away Renji noticed that his strength and precision had been fading. Small incremental amounts, but the flaws were painfully obvious. He was slower and his technique had become sloppy. He was no longer a perfect swordsman and it infuriated him to no end. For the past week Renji had been practicing non-stop on the outskirts of Ambrosia.

“Jeeze you’re boring” the soft echoing voice of Wanda sent a shiver down Renji’s spine. The ghost girl had followed him from the haunted forest and now insisted on tormenting him. The translucent blue girl floated upside-down in front of Renji. Her perpetual grin almost seemed to mock him.

“Come on, let’s go meet some people” Wanda spoke.

 “Why?”

“All work and no play makes you boring as hell to watch.”

“Then go bother somebody else ghost,” he paused to sheath his sword “I don’t have the patience for your antics.”

Wanda frowned as the grumpy swordsman turned his back on her incorporeal form. During his foray into the haunted forest he seemed so full of life and energy, but now all he did was wait around a train. She hated his inaction. She hated how utterly dull he was. She hated how he obsessed over training. And yet, yet despite his shortcomings she felt an inexplicable draw to the swordsman. It was only a matter of time before the unstable swordsman exploded and she wanted to have front row seats. His internal drive for self-perfection and the demon’s lust for absolute control were at odds and all that was needed was a catalyst to spark the resulting fallout.

Wanda grinned wickedly. Yes, it was just a matter of time.

Renji’s cabin was a simple single story building constructed on the edge of Ambrosia. The forest almost swallowed the quaint little cabin and Renji was glad that its remoteness kept the other denizens of Ambrosia away. He had only agreed to protect Ambrosia in the hopes of finding more warriors to slaughter, but the town seemed more intent on reaching amicable agreements with adversaries. The swordsman groaned and sat down on a simple mat in the center of the room. His daily rituals never changed, he would practice swordsmanship for the majority of the morning and before lunch he would retire and meditate. It was a simple existence based upon the idea of self-improvement.

The pale blue ghost girl had other plans. She needed to see excitement something to take her mind from the inescapable boredom of living with a swordsman married to his craft. No, another day would not be spent watching an overzealous swordsman clear his mind and sit motionless for hours on end. She floated down in front of the zen-man his perception of the outside world was nonexistent in such a complete state of introspection. Or perhaps he was simply good at ignoring her, whatever the case was he would be lucid very soon. A basin filled with frigid water floated precariously above Renji’s head. With the malice of a preteen prankster the ghost girl willed the basin to spill its contents onto the meditating swordsman.

“You little bastard” Renji growled, reaching for his sword in frustration. He went to strike but the poltergeist floated away giggling. She stuck her bright blue tongue out at Renji.

Wanda smirked and taunted “strange how you went straight for your sword huh?”

The drenched samurai looked away from the ghost girl and sheathed his sword “I was just startled is all.”

The ghost girl laughed and floated back down to Renji, bringing herself face-to-face with him. She hung upside-down, but her spectral clothing and hair seemed unaffected by gravity. A guttural groan crawled from her throat and her face contorted into that of a terrifying creature made of fangs and braided tendrils. Renji leaned back in apprehension a sense of dread and doom crawled over his body. She carried on for a few more seconds before breaking into a giggle fit.

Her delicate hands covered her perpetually smiling mouth and she whispered “excuse me.”

“Why don’t you go bug someone else?”

“Because I wanna bother you” she pouted.

 “Why me?” Renji asked.

“Why not?” she snickered before continuing “but, listen if you don’t stop being such a snore I’ll keep throwing water on you.”

Being assaulted by possessed water buckets sent a glower on Renji’s face. His feet shuffled slowly towards the door of his cabin. He was a millennial warrior, an immortal swordsman destined for eternal conflict and he was expected to socialize with civilians? Even if they were strange creatures, and most of the were, he had no expectation of camaraderie among fellows. All he had to do was satisfy Wanda’s lust for excitement and he would be free to retire to his hole. Well, he was hungry perhaps stopping at a restaurant would sate Wanda’s desire?

Switching to Broly - The Mildly Insane Legendary Saiyan
Posted by: Broly - 10-20-2015, 12:04 AM - Forum: Joining - Replies (4)

Character name: Broly [One of the alternate spellings]

Character source: Dragonball Z

Character history:

My iteration of Brolly is being pulled from his fight with Goku during the first movie. However because of the Omniverse portal being in close vicinity to both Broly and Goku during their fight, Kakarot’s soul and skills were meshed into him curing his insanity and making him a more precise fighter. Broly has lost the use of his legendary form, but he is now in a completely custom and resting Super Saiyan state. (Explains my appearance choice and his stats how they are)

Physical Description: (originals only)

Broly's Base Form as a result of his being pulled into the Omniverse is a resting Super Saiyan 1/SSJ. This defines his base stats.

Stats: (Using 3000 OM for 1st and 2nd Stat Increase; 12 points to use in total)
ATK: 3
DEF: 2
SPD: 3
TEC: 4

Starting Proficiencies: Ranged Proficiency, Physical Proficiency, (2000)

Starting Powers: None (Plan to buy them as I go)

Starting Moves: None (I plan to buy them as I go)

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

  A Gloomy Little Town
Posted by: Lemmy Koopa - 10-19-2015, 10:55 PM - Forum: The Pale Moors - Replies (5)

It was sometime ago that the blunette decided to step out from the Kingdom of Camelot to enter into the Pale Moors. Of course, he was still on the search for this Magus individual, but he's been quite bored with Camelot since all they do is criticize everyone as being non-human as monsters and to the fact that the Tournament is ongoing. The Colosseum would be a trap unless he knew of how to use invisibility to sneak a look through the crowds and this little brat was still trailing with the Koopa like the little pain he is.

However, that seemed to change for him once the duo arrived at the Moors and the stormy, overcast weather filled the skies above, as if there was something..ominous.. about this place. To be fair, this was something the blunette actually enjoys; it was like something of a setting to a horror tale book that he would often read back at the Castle.

Ah, those were the times.

While walking the dirt ground, he looked over to Jr. Troopa with his small eyes as he asked,"Do you believe this is a much better place? After all, it isn't as stuffy as Camelot,"

Jr, Troopa looked around his surroundings. This isn't anything of a 'paradise', it looks like an old village with colonial buildings ahead with a large castle in the distance. He didn't like this place, it reminded him of Twilight Town..if not Forever Forest to a degree.

"Ah, um, well.." replied the younger as he was scratching the back of his shell helmet. "I mean, yes! Yes it is,"

Ludwig darkly chuckled as he heard the younger's nervousness and mused,"My, my. Someone must be scared! Oh what should we do? Perhaps return to Camelot and watch the tournament?"

The nervous Koopa child nodded his head before he stopped and noticed Ludwig chuckling to himself as he replied,"Hey, what's so funny? Are you making fun of me, huh?!"

The blunette kept quiet before he answered,"I thought you were braver than this. Oh well, looks like you're not as confident as everyone mentions you to be. Hmhmhmhm. Ah, don't worry about it child, you could always redeem yourself,"

A crackle of thunder was heard in the background and the younger Koopa was paralyzed with fear before he hugged the other Koopa tightly with his little arms as he exclaimed,"AAGHHHH!"

Ludwig didn't care at first if the child was scared; it was amusing, but then again, he came across the resolve that he should give him the benefit of the doubt and so, he patted him on the head as he said,"Perhaps we should go back. It's too scary for you after all,"

The child immediately separated himself from Ludwig and pointed out as he continued,"I'm not SCARED! I'm a brave one and don't you forget that!"

Oh, Jr. Troopa, even though he's annoying, he's highly amusing Ludwig despite of the earlier troubles he had given to the blunette beforehand.

So lately I've been really into stand-up comedy. I've watched an ungodly amount of stand-up specials and spent more than I'd like to admit going to live shows. I paid for a Google Play Music subscription almost exclusively so that I could play entire albums of stand-up at a time. I listen to it while I cook, I burn the midnight oil watching it. More than half of my Youtube subscriptions and recommendations are comedians or people that re-post their clips. It's amazing.

So the topic of this thread is obviously stand-up comedy. I admit that I'm selfishly trying to farm ideas for new people to check out, but I figured it would also be fun to just discuss in general.

It's WAY too hard to pick a favorite of anything for me, so I'm just gonna go off the top of my head. Here are some things that I would recommend:

Favorite this month:
Tom Segura's Completely Normal
Sample:

The best special that I've seen in the past month. Had me almost in tears multiple times. It's on Netflix if you've got an hour to spare.

Favorite this year:
Jim Jefferies
Sample from Bare

Found this guy on Netflix and watched all of his specials in one night. Really funny guy with the right blend of vulgarity and wit. Also, his American accent is fucking perfect.

Favorite in-general:
Patton Oswalt
Sample from Finest Hour

Gun to my head, I'd choose Patton as one of my top 5 favorite comedians. His blend of surreal, observational and black comedy along with his nerdy hobbies is amazing.

  Malleability + Shrink/Growth?
Posted by: Reece - 10-19-2015, 02:29 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (3)

A lot of my questions seem to end up clogging up the Quick Questions thread, and not being particularly quick to answer, so just in case that happens again, I'm posting this one as a separate topic.

Okay, so in the Rules on Shrink & Growth, this is said:

Quote:This allows a user to shrink up to three inches tall without needing a dedicated Alternate Form. This can be used in combination with Malleability (to remove the lower constraints on size) or Shapeshifting (to become smaller creatures).
Quote:This allows a user to grow up to 100 metres tall without needing to use Alternate Forms. It can be used in combination with Shapeshifting to allow shapeshifts to gigantic creatures, or in concert with Malleability to remove the upper constraints on size.

I can't help but get the impression, though, that either I'm missing some obscure rule which has been mentioned somewhere out of the way and which hasn't been included on the actual Proficiencies & Powers page for some reason ... or maybe Omni just hasn't really considered what completely removing constraints like this could do. Not that I'm complaining, or anything, but it seems kinda unbelievable that we're really given the option of making characters so minuscule/immense.

For example, if there really are no constraints on how small your character can shrink then it would theoretically be possible to shrink them down to the size of a single molecule, or even an atom (not needing to breathe is considered an RP Fodder ability, according to Survival's description, so that needn't be an issue). Your character would be literally impossible to see. You wouldn't even need Stealth. Combined with Flight, and maybe Super Speed, your opponent wouldn't even have a chance of accidentally squishing you.

And Growth is, if anything, even more absurd. No upper limit? Okay, I get that you'll just end up seriously injuring yourself if you try and stamp on a building whilst having less than 20 ATK, no matter how large you are, and being a larger target just makes you easier for others to hit, but even so ... unlimited size?
In case anyone is having trouble comprehending just how awesome absurd that is, allow me to include an image of a monster from an anime I've watched:
That black line there is a living being, and in case it wasn't obvious; those rocks it's towering over are mountains; and that image doesn't even show its whole body. That thing is thirty kilometres tall. And assuming the Rules' description of Growth is correct then it would be entirely feasible to play not only it as a character in the Omniverse, but even more absurdly huge creatures, such as Devil Survivor's Alioth and Evangelion's Sahaquiel, without having to shrink them down at all, other than when passing through portals.

Again, I just want to clarify; this is by no means a complaint. If this is actually supposed to be possible then I for one will be very happy ... but it just seems too good to be true, to me. Given how limited everything else seems to be (Enhanced Senses, Teleportation & Telekinesis, for example, have very clear limits), I'm just having a hard time believing that those descriptions are accurate.

Anyways, thanks in advance to anyone who could be bothered to read all of this, and is actually considering replying.  Tongue

  Return to the White Void
Posted by: Chloe Price - 10-19-2015, 11:24 AM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

I dashed through the Coruscant portal at 60 mph, aiming to stop right back at the fountain. It was coming close fairly quickly. In the meantime, I decided to think about what's happened since I came to the Omniverse.

Okay, let's get this straight; I was warped into some...Strange...Place...By this glowing white figure...I stopped a robbery...Attempted to stop another one...And beat down a crazy boomerang guy...Only to be considered a vigilante and thrown out by some soldiers.

After thinking about it for a few seconds, I decided to focus on running. 15 minutes later, I stopped, arriving at the Fountain, before scoping out the portals; I looked directly behind me to see the Coruscant portal again. No point in going back there... I thought to myself. I then turned towards a portal framed by two palm trees, starting to consider just taking a vacation. Not exciting enough. I then turned in the other direction, facing an eroded stone portal...

"That's as good a place as any..." I said to myself. I then started my run towards it. The lightning trail started as I started going 60 mph, towards the portal. It was nothing but a line of red and yellow as I ran. Another 15 minutes later, I arrived at the portal to the Endless Dunes and coming to a complete halt.

"...Looks like this is the place." I said, looking around the portal. 12 feet high, nearly as wide, made entirely of eroded stone. I dashed through the portal, ready to see what's inside.

  Crossing Over
Posted by: SARU - 10-19-2015, 10:06 AM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

Silence and emptiness..

Those were the things that the albino male was introduced to as he looked around the empty white void. Sure there were some patches of life here and there but not by much.

However, meeting that strange thing, was it all a dream? He himself wasn't sure but they knew what they were doing. In a sense, it urked the albino; he hated listening to authority then, what makes it think that he'll listen to authority now? The least thing he wants to be is used by someone else noting his former status as the leader of a group.

Ah SARU, what did you get yourself in? Well, the truth is, he was actually spirited away so he had no control of his fate. It was still strange on how destiny threads itself in a series of events, but even though that is the case now, it would be better off if he avoided any futuristic cities..for now.

There were plenty of bad memories of it that he would feel like an endangerment to everyone else since he felt like his Second Stage powers were returning steadily and slowly. However, that's what you get for being abandoned as a child whose parents left him behind and having to resort to stealing and other things to survive..

It actually scares him..

However, that was then and this is now, the only thing he could do is move on and starting now, that was what he did as he walked along the pathway to what it seems to be an aimless wander. It's take the risk or get nowhere and that was his only two options at the time.

That is, if Time ever does flow in this place, it's actually hard to tell.

He calmed down and kept composed as he went along this route as he wandered who or what has came to the place before or even after him. It's actually hard to tell but he can't help to be curious. Even in this place of peace, his mind was wandering, picking up some form of stigma, that lingers around. He isn't usually the most intellectual of the former group back in his reality, that went to Giris and Meia, the researchers, but he was someone to be wary about in terms of strength.

He was only a shadow of his former strength all because of El Dorado's vaccine, which has him still bitter. Pff, who cared about them? They wanted to kill off him and his fellow comrades using missile weapons for goodness sakes! The albino did a low growl at the memory of that incident; he might had changed but he never forgets, especially at the defeat in the hands of Raimon. What good were they? They were just regulars.

However, since he is away from his reality and the others, would this mean that this would be the next challenge that he has to face up to? Yes, but then again, he could always rebuild, however would it be for the betterment just as Tenma would want him to or would it be for his selfish desires to strike revenge? Either way, there's always consequences for his actions. That's how Life works.

Before long, he had arrived at the Fountain, shaped as an hourglass for some unusual reason and stopped to rest only to notice the different gates in the distance, each with their own little theme going on. The one gate guarded by Stormtroopers were already a bad sign and that meant he should stay away from such a place.

As he onlooked over the situation, where should he go? If anything, wherever he chooses to go, that would mean extra walking. Those distances aren't short, no, it is only a trick on his eyes. However, even so, the forest gate seems to be a safe place to head towards. Unguarded and full of life. Perhaps he should head there..however, then again, the gate to the Endless Dunes has him wondering. Why not? It's not like anyone else is watching him.
