Something Wicked This Way Comes
Posted by: Tom Marvolo Riddle - 10-25-2015, 08:02 PM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (1)

Well this is fascinating.

You know it’s always strange to actually notice something new when your life has been that of perpetual stasis. Time normally doesn’t have meaning, just sitting there waiting. One moment, I have a basalisk fang sticking out of my body and the next. Well I’m sure what’s next is obvious. But for the dour folk who do not… I suppose you could say I was visited by a god. Saved in my hour of need.

How droll.

But if anything it shows me that perhaps even I have my faults. And so I died or perhaps I didn’t, either way I was saved from oblivion in a way I never thought would happen. A smiling god. And well the things he said were curious… if they were true, rather helpful to my current situation.

After all when one is a book, one’s options are rather limited. And being a Diary was far more restraining. Who would read my blank pages, why bother writing in a leather bound journal that doesn’t have your own name on it. It’s all rather bothersome to say the least to convince some hapless fool that it’s alright, that I won’t mind. To that point I was rather lucky that that fool Lucius actually bothered to place me in a family of such dire straits.

But even then there were long periods where I had no contact outside world. Here? Where if it was, wherever I could feel my skin resting upon the ground so smooth and not real… The fact that I had that sensation was rather ominous. I could feel living things, that had never changed. It is however bothersome when something walks across you and you can do nothing about it.

Well I say nothing but there are some things I can do, it’s not much but I can feed. Though seldom doesn’t a spider provide me much sustenance. Not even much of a soul for me to drain or it to even grow attached to me. Simplistic creatures.

To feel its spindly little legs trespass upon my body well… Its maddening. But when in stasis, it’s the little things like that that give you a sense of time.

However this sensation was different, it wasn’t sporadic, nor even occasional. No this pulsing of something inside and around me was constant.

What was it he had called it?

Ah yes! Omnilium.

Simply named, egotistical, a sense of style, a brat prince I imagine, definitely someone to be on guard against or to ally depending on the situation.

But yes it was a thrumming I couldn’t ignore, for the first time since before my own creation, I felt as if there was difference between wakefulness and sleep.

Wait. No.

That’s not right at all. This is the second time. Yes that’s right.

It was an experience that came with a name, the name a very useful subject of mine. In fact I could feel her right now, and some of another. The one who’s wand I had stolen and blood I’d spilt by proxy.

Ginny Weasley and Harry Potter. Yes. That’s it.

It was with them that I first felt like this, that I had a body again with power roaring through veins that had never been mine before… and He had said with it, I could have anything, and the implication was also I could make anything. Did that include a soul?

A thought to be saved for later.

For now to test the assumption as it were. The feeling of existing as more than this bundle of pages, leather and sinew. I was more than any muggle or wizard and yet I was much more helpless. But then again, I existed whereas Voldemort did not. And now that I had died and known of his own demise as well, it was there that I could see it. Yes there was a distinction.

For now at least, that name will not be used. It would be like screaming out to all that is mad and obsessed that a cure for their insanity had been found and expecting them to understand.

Instead I shall have to use what is my birthright no matter how poorly placed it was.

I breathed.

It’s a curious sensation for a book to breathe, for a diary it was perhaps even more concerning. No doubt that silly little girl realized as much when I took form and she lost hers. However the circumstances of that incident did not matter, but the elements did.

I opened my eyes. Real eyes and stared about the world that only my leather had touched until now. At my feet- yes wonderful appendages they are- was my true form. Curiously small and yet there I was and yet I wasn’t.

Leaning over I picked myself up and as I did a was rewarded with a vigorous feeling spread across my body. Like static only more potent. Life energy, quicksilver and green. That’s what it felt like. And why green? Well to answer that I’d probably have to be a god. Which unfortunately I was far from being such a thing. Simply put that’s what it felt like and without being apotheosized it would have to remain that way.

I, Tom Riddle am renewed.

A thousand-million shifting granules of sand play out around the Peregrine Mendicant after her departure from the Nexus. Her chalk-colored feet sink into the unstable ground lightly despite her impulsively reckless entrance, as if she has passed through an ordinary doorway rather than a spiraling portal.

When she looks upwards, great whorls of a gorgeous, intense blue flecked here and there with smoky orange spread across the sky like cream trickling languidly into chestnut-brown coffee. The air is clear and drier than a crypt left in peace for centuries. Great mounds of sand like the tumultuous swells of an ocean spread out in all directions, the heat shimmering in waves above them.

Ah, she says, admiring the lovely scenery.

AHHH! she exclaims, hardly an instant later, as a small human child causes her to stumble somewhat after knocking into her with their tiny little elbows. The startled carapacian barely has more than a few moments to regain her footing before whoever had shoved against her is gone, eagerly snapped up by the portal behind her.

The mailwoman is still feeling rather befuddled as several well-armed men approach, a number of reasonably intimidating weapons swinging from their belts. Sun-warmed metal glints in the light. She doesn’t bother counting how many of them there are, instead choosing to simply get the hell out of their way. They seem pretty tough, full of mangrit and gumption. PM doesn’t feel up to messing with that sort of nonsense quite yet.

They are apparently in hot pursuit of this child and do not pay her any mind as they, too, are swallowed up by the light of the Nexus. PM blinks after them for a moment, as confused as can be, when she feels something sift through the sand and press lightly against her foot. Curious, she peers down at the sand between her toes.

Oh! the Peregrine Mendicant coos, plucking up a rather dusty old envelope. It scratches lightly against her chalky carapace, catching on her fingers in odd spots where the material has been frayed. Humming delightedly, she flips it over in her hands, watching as the sun runs smoothly across the edges of the brown paper and casts it in an almost rosy light. She reads the recipient’s name.

“To whoemvre ti may concierge—" PM stops reading right there, because as a simple Parcel Mistress the contents of this letter should not, in fact, concern her. Besides that, the letter is written in what appears to be a child’s scrawl, loose bits of dirt embedded here and there on the small packet. Or maybe those are ironic pixels— she is not certain.

There is also no sender. PM is only mildly deterred by this; the fact that this letter is exceptionally vague should be of no serious import to a Parcel Mistress. She will not fail in this most noble of tasks. She will find whomever this letter concerns— concierges.

Her eyes shining with glee, the Peregrine Mendicant goes to tuck the letter into her satchel only to find that she does not yet have one swinging dutifully over her shoulder. Oh dear. This is a worrying state of affairs, indeed.

Pinching her fingers together in frustration, PM waves the letter in the air and gesticulates wildly about her head with it, tromping her feet a little for a more palpable effect. Once she has had her moment of inherent absurdity, however, PM ceases her ridiculous flailing. Silliness notwithstanding, PM acknowledges that she will have to use this Omnilium substance to create a new mailbag. Otherwise, this letter might be damaged by foul weather or scurrilous fiends!

Hmm… she muses to herself, the digits of her hands tapping lightly together. Suddenly, she crosses and snaps her fingers, the sharp sound crackling through the sweltering, breathless air. A-ha!

The carapacian considers the task of using Omnilium to summon her mailbag and mail carrier’s cap with a cautious line of thought that shrinks not from the impossible, but rather from the harmful and treacherous. Perhaps she should remove herself from so obvious a place of travel— if this Omnilium is so useful and valuable, there will likely be those who will want to take it for their own. But where to go?

Squinting against the sunlight and tugging her tattered hood a bit snugger around her face, the Peregrine Mendicant looks out over the horizon. There appears to be a small settlement a ways off, amongst the odd tree or shrubbery dotted here and there across the landscape like little specks of mottled green against windswept dust. Or, you know. Plants in a desert.

Weirdly elaborate descriptions aside, PM spots a choice tree on the horizon to do some summoning under. Yes, this tree will do nicely— it has several low-hanging boughs that would provide an acceptable amount of cool shade for her to rest her feet under, and there does not appear to be any puny princethieves skulking about in the shadows. Perfect.

After tucking the letter into a spare fold of her wrappings, PM sets off at an unruffled gait for the tree’s shade. She reaches it a short while later, the bends of her clothing casting long shadows over her pale carapace once she steps into the dim light. Small bits of shadow trickle over her frame in the shape of clustered branches and measly twigs. Her shell clinks lightly as she sits down upon the sand; it is uncomfortably warm, so much so that she can feel it even through the thick covering of her carapace.

Well, here she is. Best get right down to it, before anything potentially disastrous occurs. With another wary glance around, PM cups her palms together, feeling remarkably idiotic until a soft, fluttering glow appears between them, seeming much like a trapped firefly. As she slowly brings them apart to better examine this strange light, an array of prismatic colour glimmers over her claws, like gossamer paper twirling on a stick at a festival.

Wonderful, she remarks, errant gleams playing across her smooth features. Now, on to the actual summoning. Her satchel will have to come first, of course, as it is the most important part of her ensemble. The amorphous lightshow immediately shifts to accommodate this, bulging into such a greater size that PM has to eventually ease herself backwards a ways to better regard it. After scarcely four minutes have passed, the glow of the Omnilium fades and PM has a lovely yellow-coloured satchel lying across her lap, made up of a coarse, stalwart material.

Claws clicking together with glee, the Peregrine Mendicant slings the bag’s strap over her shoulder and slips the single letter under the top flap. Fantastic! Now for her mailperson’s cap. This is undoubtedly the second most important object that she requires, for it indicates to any wandering passerby that she has no time for their finicky shenanigans.

Like with her mail-carrying bag, the fascinating, shimmering display of bulbous Omnilium manifests itself between her claws, this time in a much smaller amount. It takes hardly a minute or two for her faithful blue cap to appear, and when it does PM is quick to snatch it up in her hands and place it ceremoniously upon her head.

Quote:[Image: 00896.gif]

Liberty. Reason. Justice. Civility. Edification. Perfection.

MAIL.

Yes, well. Ahem.

Anyways, now that she has her navy blue cap settled nicely atop her head far better than any crown ever could, PM thinks that she might just need a weapon to defend herself with. In the event of a raid on her collection of parcels and neatly-tucked envelopes, that is. The problem is, there are two possible weapons for her to choose from. One is the Regisword, sharpened and undoubtedly deadly, given to her by the Archagent of Derse. The other, unfortunately, would be the Ring, complete with the pearly Orbs Fourfold. WV's Ring. The one which he was supposed to don to save them all, and which she instead wore in a cutthroat flight of vengeance and untamed fury.

When it comes right down to it, she would choose the Regisword any day. The Omnilium summoning takes quite a spell longer this time, but soon enough she is holding the shiny black weapon aloft by its hilt, the blade glinting intimidatingly in the sunlight. Without sparing any more precious time to strike a heroic pose or goof off, PM slides the sword into her mailbag with the letter she must deliver, a faint svwoop marking its disappearance. Her dark eyes then slide to the village settled a fair distance away, gaze contemplative.

With a slight spring to her step hindered only slightly by the heavy sword in her pack, the Peregrine Mendicant sets off towards the village of Carrefore.

At the risk of thread Necromancy, I decided to create a new topic

Having read the spaceverse thread I thought what if with the changing of how vehicles work, what if now is the time to bring in a limited space verse?

Mostly it'd be a solar system setting (at first) where each planet is the verses you can access through the Nexus. This would open up the planets to being bigger as well as give us some means of moving around in larger vehicles. It'd also eliminate some of the choke points that are the Gates while still allowing the Vita Compasses to work as expected maybe even make them more effective as they can direct you to the gate or directly at them in a straight line on another world.

Balancing space ships.

Treat them like characters and bases. If they are going function in combat beyond being a vehicle, they need moves assigned to them, and stats. Or they adopt the stats of their creators. I can see either one working. How do you convert a base into a starship? You upgrade it with an item of some sort. If you don't you have to use a flimsy vehicle to go up in space.

How do you prevent characters from being turned into the wicked witch of the east. Have you ever seen a person get hit either good or bad by a ship's turbolasers in Star Wars? Nope, those things are designed for ship to ship combat or razing cities, hitting puny people is tough as hell like Tec 7-10 range.

Repairing damaging in combat would require moves of their own, or days and days or repair work. Think of the fun of base assaults.

Funtimes:
Coruscant and Camelot can finally go to war. Floating Castles vs Star Destroyers. Eldritch Abominations vs Frigates. Space Hamsters vs Death Stars- wait.
It would also give us a means of moving around as groups while working together.

Anybody interested in possible building of cars? Race garage
Posted by: Jak Mar - 10-25-2015, 10:03 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (12)

Jak will start to get stuff together that allows folks to be able to build cars like this/customizable parts etc..

Summon parts from his world/ and or new Omniverse parts for cars.

Example of a Jak X car for what a generic car would look like from Jak's world:

Deepen your character! (Quiz for your roster)
Posted by: Undyne - 10-25-2015, 08:16 AM - Forum: The Whateververse, Man - Replies (40)

So, I was bored and decided to make this and just leave it here for you people.

Basically it's a personality quiz with random questions for your character(s), you can post it in your Roster if you like! The main aim is to deepen your character a bit.The questions are totally serious and designed by the Professors of Hogwarts University of Jedis in Paris, Mexico, so you know I mean serious business :awesome:

Feel free to submit your own questions as well!

Lame question to start! Favorite color?

Your character’s greatest fear?
Bonus question: If your character confronted a Boggart, what would your character turn them to make them funny?

Your character’s ultimate goal(s)?

If your character found a wishing lamp with a genie that grants one wish - any wish they want - what would it be?

Choose any two: (the arrangement is Power, Magic and Stealth)
Melee (Big & strong weapons, Contact Spells, Poisoned Daggers), Ranged (Big guns, Missile Spells, Bow & Arrow)?
Just to be clear:
You can pick ANY two. Doesn't have to be one melee and one ranged, it can be two ranged or two melee as well.

What's your character’s favorite music genre?

Favorite food & drink?

On the opposite side, what do they hate eating/drinking the most?

Choose one of each: Chaos, Neutral, Order? Good, Neutral, Evil?

Your char finds a treasure box which holds something they really want. What is inside it?

If your character designed a game (boardgame, cardgame, videogame…) what would it be? (competitive, coop, fighting, strategy…?)

Your character’s at home when the zombie apocalypse breaks out. They can only take one item with them to escape the horde. What do they take?

What's their favorite sport? (if it's something fictional, explain to us what the sport consists in)

What superhero would your character compare to the most?

Is your character a villain or a hero? Or Krillin?

A ghost tries to frighten your character, how do they respond?

  Mock Fight: Esdeath vs Ballad
Posted by: Lubbock - 10-24-2015, 10:39 PM - Forum: The Whateververse, Man - Replies (7)

A bout of coughing and spluttering exploded from Esdeath's mouth as she pushed herself up weakly on the drenched sand... Wait, sand? Esdeath scrambled up, narrowly halting a forwards stumble, before sweeping her gaze behind her; an endless blue landscape, filled with rolling waves and the occasional disturbance in the smooth, serene ocean. A downwards glance heeded a blinding flash of snow-white sand, not exactly the best terrain for the heels the General was wearing. Before she posed a threat to her own well-being, she reached down and slipped them off, her ice-cold feet slipping into the blistering, glowing sand.

The heat was certainly evident, but the cold witch simply shrugged it off as her cold blood fended the increased temperature off. Not exactly satisfied with her findings, but her curiosity sated nonetheless, Esdeath spun around to gaze upon the view at her rear... a mass of green and brown, swaying gently with the light, tropical breeze. Trees offered well-needed shadow upon the soft beach, and as such the General made a clumsy beeline for the cool solitude.

Her dainty, queen-like feet sunk into the dark sand, and a breath of relief escaped her pale lips as the cool shade washed over her. It didn't make too much difference to the ice witch, but it was pleasant nonetheless. She wasn't just going to sit around and do nothing on the beach though - as much as she'd enjoyed that one time with Tatsumi, she didn't plan on spending leisure time in such a place, she had to explore her surroundings and get a feel for the atmosphere.

She took a single step forwards, and sharply retreated as a sharp pain shot into her foot and up her leg. Cradling her injured limb, she cocked her head to the left to take a glance at the injury; a colossal thorn had impaled itself into the ball of her slender foot, and seemed to have injected some form of paralysis poison. Agitated, soon to become well and truly pissed, Esdeath grasped the lengthy assailant and tore it out, chucking it aside. Giving her leg a light pat, she could easily feel the muscles in her calf and knee tightly locked up.

Okay, maybe she was going to be spending some time at the beach.

Esdeath seated herself in the shaded sand, staring out at the boundless sea beyond the blinding field of alabaster. The warm breeze teased the blanket of azure hair flowing down Esdeath's back, and she removed her hat, allowing the rest of her hair to freely drift in the light wind. She reminisced over her beach journey with Tatsumi once more... it was one of the best moments in her life... a pleasant change from the torment she doled out to the citizens of the Capital. Sorrow overcame her, however, when she remembered how Tatsumi had fled the scene after being transported back to the mountain. She pulled her knees close to her well-endowed chest and dipped her head into her lap, a blush exploding into her cheeks. Oh, how she wished that boy had come to the Omniverse with her...

Her head shot up as she heard a large mass shift the sand upon the beach before her. The overbearing sunlight made it a difficult task, but she attempted to catch sight at whatever oversized fish had hauled itself to shore. A man... wearing all green... no way was it Lubbock of Night Raid... but could it have been...?

Her thoughts were shot down when she spotted a scarf around the figure's neck, and some form of firearm at his side and he pulled himself to a haphazard squat. Nonetheless, the General stayed wary of the strangely clad man in the sand; he could have been aiming to kill her for all she knew. Yanking her dead leg up with her, she stood and leaned on a nearby tree, the feelings in her leg gradually coming back.

As soon as both her legs were in working order, she carefully strode out to the green man, silently summoning her rapier at her side; thanks to Omnillium, she was able to wield it and stow it at will like that. Her dainty hand enveloped the cold steel of her blade's handle, but she refrained from shifting the blade from its sheath for the time being, at least until she knew the danger she was possibly about to face.

A green face peered up at Esdeath as she came to a halt before the man, her legs square to his shoulders and her body blocking the sun out of his vision - she had to at least be somewhat kind to him, after all he just washed up to this searing hot environment in such stuffy clothing.

"Who are you?" She questioned threateningly.
