While Karl Jak was never unhappy to see Gildarts, he found himself disappointed that the ‘stronkest prime’ had ruined the closest thing they had to four lady primes knocking each other senseless.  So many people on the Dataverse would have been willing to pay double for such a stream.

Jibril nodded but kept her eyes focused on their adversaries.

Stepping down the aisle to the next monitoring station, Karl watched as the next two sets were beamed into the empty little arena.  The producer leaned on the button for the speakers and cleared his throat.
 
“Welcome to Round 1.  Did someone page Mr. Wilson that it’s time to participate?  He’s there, right?  Quick, Eric, tap him to make sure he’s turned on.”
 
Deadpool wagged a finger at the sky.  “Jokes on you, Karl, I’m always turned on.”
 
Karl smiled as he tapped the gong switch.  “Good luck to you all, and may the best twosome win.”

More often than not, there weren’t many high-profile prime rivalries.  Even when there was a juicy loathing, it was more likely than not that one prime would vanish forever.  Failing that, they often settled their differences in more intimate settings, where the rest of the Omniverse couldn’t watch and salivate over all the bile and vitriol as it poured to the surface.
 
In that sense, Karl Jak knew that he had been blessed with this particular matchup, which pitted the king of an upstart desert city against the biggest bleeding heart in the entire Omniverse.  Both primes had fallen off the radar for nearly two years, and even when Karl intercepted the Coruscant reports that Mickey had been located in the Deep, the producer hadn’t expected the sassy little prime to wind up in the Dante Verse.
 
Better than that, he hadn’t expected the two to be matched against one another in the first round.
 
And the mouse is partnered with one of his lieutenants, how juicy.
 
Realizing that the four primes had been standing in silence, Karl focused on the task at hand and pushed the button on the comm.  “Hello and welcome to the opening round.”  The gong sounded.  “My apologies, Mr. Black, but I think you’re used to playing the third wheel.”

Retane scowled.  He recognized the arena, even if this one was a little smaller than the platforms he had used during his participation in that fight league.  He clenched a fist as he remembered winning the opening tournament only to lose his first title defense.
 
“Accursed cyborg.”
 
“They’re robots?” Victor asked, indirectly shaking the namekian from his haze.
 
“It’s nothing,” Retane replied as he pointed toward the young girl and the massive, golden-haired warrior. “Just like those two.”
 
The assassin smiled before the crackling hiss of feedback pulled four sets of eyes up to the air above them.
 
“Welcome, Everyone.”  Karl Jak declared through the PA system.  “This is Round 1, where the stakes aren’t awfully terrible, but that’s not gonna stop a single person from blowing it all.”
 
The nearby gong sounded by itself.
 
“Try not to break the place too much,” Karl added.

The third fight stood to feature a little less sand drama.
 
Link, his sword drawn and at the ready, looked to see his partner.  The unimposing girl smiled as she lifted a hand and summoned a fistful of hellfire.  In response, the tunic-clad warrior spun his sword and nodded his head.
 
On the other side, Kuzuru grinned like a maniac as he waited for the signal.  While Skeletor lacked the proper facial muscles and other fleshly accessories to match the glee on his companion’s visage, the skeleton was just as eager.
 
“Good evening, sociopaths plus Link, and I welcome you to this opening round of Dante’s Abyss!”
 
The gong sounded.
 
“Now just re—” Karl trailed off, his face twisting into a scowl as he watched Kuzuru and Skeletor explode across the arena stage like two bears at Boy’s Town dance club.  Taking his hand off the button for the mic, the man glanced at the smiling staff around him.  “And people say we’re the villains.  SMH, boys and girls.  SMH.”

Weren’t three of these people all tied to Goldilocks?  Were they even aware that they were all in the same fan club?  Gilgamesh needed to hire a better PR person.
 
“Good afternoon, Ladies, Insects, and Gentleprimes.  This is your MC Karl Jak, and I’m here to welcome you to this little slice of my youth.”  The man paused as his voice was replaced with a string of very eastern-influenced musical notes.  Once they died out, the gong that stood off near the entrance to the platform sounded of its own accord.  “May the best pair of you still be standing at the end of this, and if you lose, just remember that it’s not the end for you…

In the blink of an eye, the small elevated platform was presented with two sets of primes.
 
On one end, the Queen of Blades and the Ass Kicker exchanged nods before shifting their focus toward the pair who stood directly opposed to them.
 
“Good day, sorta-Ladies and Gentleprimes!”  Karl Jak’s voice rang out from all around them.  “Welcome to the first round of Dante’s Abyss 9.  Sorry, Bandit, sometimes I forget myself.  I forget a lot of things, and I’ll be damned if sometimes that doesn’t lead to some awkward run ins at the cabana.  Prime life ain’t always the best life, immortality and reality-manipulation aside.  Right, girl?”
 
There was a pause.
 
After clearing his throat without turning off the PA system, Karl pressed a switch at caused the nearby gong to resonate.  “Best of luck and may the best pair win.  Smooches!”

CHARACTER NAME: Arriana Clarice Maurvois

CHARACTER HISTORY: While the Omniverse is a dimension blocked off from all others with a one-way door, Arriana lived in a world where every dimension reached hers and travel was common. Like the Nexus, Aspros was the central hub for many varied worlds, each with their own cultures that left a piece behind. No one could remember which world she came from, only that her father’s name became household legend. Arriana was a mystery to the general public, revealing her true personality with all its secrets to only the select few employed by her.


Her biggest secret: she was dying. Her blood, mixed with the blood of many other species, had absorbed too many toxins, too many diseases had infected it. While for many years she had been immune to the festering collective that had become her blood, it was now poisoning her. Arriana gathered those she trusted, setting a quest to find herself a cure. Brilliant minds from across multiple dimensions teamed together, but a cure was far out of reach. Instead, they formulated a medicine to delay the effects, remove the pain. Arriana took what she was dealt and played the cards, accepting the life she had and made the most of it.


She quickly rose in fame herself, though she never surpassed her father. While he had opted for control over black market dealings, Arriana was the face of public safety. Her company, Chessmate Security, was unlike any other. All bases covered, guards trained better than the military. Each and every single person working under her was overqualified for the mundane jobs the world thought they had. After all, murder was the greatest offence you could commit. If an unknown party happened to infiltrate a foreign warlord’s abode and kill him in his sleep, everyone knew that the Maurvois had something to do with it though they couldn’t decide which.


Arriana was content with her life, with her hand-picked team of experts who had become her pack and her family. Being taken away to a world she would never escape from was the last thing she had expected to happen.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Arriana appears to be human in nature, lithe muscles and charming smiles. Golden brown skin tones, dark eyes that never seem to stay the same shade and smooth hair the colour of espresso, she possesses a surreal beauty only achievable by the inhuman. Little of her skin stays exposed, dressing in silk to help control her temperature, with many layers woven tightly and reinforced with steel threads across her torso. She stands with perfect posture at 5’11, curves of well-toned muscle accentuated with subtle curves of a feminine body.


Without looking too close, she both appears and feels warm blooded, however upon inspection her skin gives way to tiny scales of the same colour as her skin in more vulnerable places such as joints and major blood vessels. Her ribcage is slimmer and longer than a typical human skelletal structure, but more resilient using two layers of bone with a mostly fluid-filled section between which disperses pressure to encourage microfractures and prevent cracks. Arriana is a homeothermic ectotherm, and has no way of internally controlling her body temperature. To counter this, she begins to aestivate in extreme high temperatures - which can lead to death -, while the fluid between her ribcages will begin exothermic reactions in extreme colds to preserve body temperature around the vital organs.

Arriana’s blood is extremely dangerous, filled with the left-overs of diseases and other infections she has come into contact with, toxins and radiation that her body can’t break down. If ingested, her blood will cause large amounts of pain and, in extreme amounts, can kill. The blood will not affect inanimate objects, and the amount of blood absorbed through transference would not be enough to cause more than a burning sensation in the open wound that came in contact. The effects are immediate. It is not possible for this to be used offensively, as the blood cannot be forced down an unwilling prime’s throat. Instead, like a defensive mechanism, this comes into play when someone wittingly or unwittingly bites into and breaks Arriana’s skin, or otherwise purposefully ingests her blood.


Ingested: less than a spoonful: mild irritation to the throat and gums.
Half a cup: burning sensation in the gums and throat, mild irritation to the stomach. Can cause coughing fits.
Full cup: Numb feeling in gums and tongue, burning pain in stomach. Causes coughing fits and painful bowel movements


Ingesting any more than a full cup would not be accidental, and would cause intense pain throughout the digestive system. If more than approximately 3 cups is consumed, the pain will begin to spread through the circulatory system, starting in the abdomen and expanding. This will take a minimum of 1 full day to be removed from the body. Consuming more than 2 liters would certainly be a fatal suicide attempt.

Arriana is not completely immune to her own blood’s toxicity, and as a result is in a constant state of approaching death.

Today had all started off so well.

From Physics, to Spider-Man-ing in Queens, to actual sudden hell. A sudden blackness, and some dude without eyes that looked like a weird skinsuit cosplayer talking about how he was a "prime" or something, and then he cracked his head on a fountain in a sea of white. Well, fantastic way to start today, huh? Peter cursed quietly to himself, looking around and analyzing the area around him. Just... white. Nothing else. He could faintly see arches in the distance, leading him to believe this was a circle of some sort. A pretty huge one, as far as he could tell, but nothing he couldn't figure out himself.

Alright, so things weren't incomprehensible yet. Splendid. He took a quick look at himself, aiming to iron out where he stood here. No backpack, meaning no Spider-Man. But his web shooters were on his wrists, so not everything was lost. Odd, though. Why the shooters, but not the suit? He could hammer out a costume if he had a few weeks, but he didn't have that kind of time. Hell, he had class tomorrow. He sighed softly, glancing up... Oh, that sucked. Nothing to swing on at all. So he's walking. Fun, fun. With a groan, he started walking, before immediately stopping at a "hey!" from a short distance away.

He immediately whipped around at the sound, only to see a... S-stormtrooper? Uh? Though, that was a pretty real-looking gun. So that's... not good? Peter was in a weird spot between nerding out and freaking out, so he defaulted to a minorly panicked smile as he tried to justify the situation. This was just... weird.

The soldier nodded towards him, quirking an eyebrow under his helmet (not that Peter could see that). "...Haven't I seen you before?" he asked, and Peter almost immediately freaked out. For the first time since arriving, he was actually pretty grateful that he didn't arrive in the spandex of his previous suit, that would have been a disaster.

"Uhhh... no? Probably not? I-I mean, I just got here, I was just checking around for... Wait, who even are you?" He stepped forward, and the Stormtrooper immediately brought his gun up. The teenager threw his hands up again, stepping back in shock. A moment passed in silence, before the Trooper took a step back. "...Got a new kid in the Nexus, looks oddly similar to another kid I found on my first beat. Should I bring him in?"

Wait wait, what was this about being brought in? Was he not supposed to be here? God, he was just so confused. And his head was muddy as hell, senses weren't working correctly. And that scared him. "Uh... sir?"

A moment passed as the man talked into his helmet (honestly kinda cool), before the man cleared his throat. "You're clear to go, Prime policy's changed since I last did Nexus beat. Just don't cause trouble."

...Wow. Okay, that happened. Peter blankly stared as the Trooper continued on his patrol, before groaning softly. "See, this is exactly what Mr. Stark meant. No universe jumping or whatever." With that, he started walking in the general direction of one of the arches in the distance, gripping his head with his hand. In the meantime, he tried to keep an eye out for people approaching around him. No surprises for him, thanks. "Yeah, good job on that, Peter. Now you're definitely in either Heaven with Stormtroopers or some weird crossover episode."

May's gonna kill him for this once he gets back, isn't she?
