Help me decide! (character decisions)
Posted by: Amaterasu - 12-16-2016, 03:16 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (3)

Arrrgh, the third character... I don't really want to do a character switch (I mean, I will if I must) and it's a difficult choice to get the right one :froggonk: So I turn to you guys for aid again... any input is greatly appreciated!

Yukihira Soma (reworked) - Shokugeki no Soma
In short: Soma as in my join app gets reworked move- and powers-wise. I'll make him a traditional Omniverse fighter, only using kitchen tools instead of swords and guns - knives and frying pans, summoning a giant hob that burns his opponents' legs, or throwing oil on the ground (slippery) or pepper into the air (causes sneezing).
The whole cooking thing is going to have to be out-of-combat stuff.
He could also learn "culinaromancy" later on - magic based on food and food-related items. Things like transforming his opponent's sword into a leek stalk or buffing his allies.
+He could function with Mimic, replicating opponents' moves and adapting them into his own style.
+Unlike the serious Amaterasu (I mean IC, not CBox) and Sabrina, Soma is a fun, easygoing character. The type of guy that won't worship or try to murder Palpatine, but cook him a "Coruscant Special" instead.
+He cooks. It's something I like.
+There's enormous general playing potential with just about everyone thanks to his style.
+He has a good storyline (to explore the Omniverse to discover its unique ingredients and cuisines, and to be a better cook than his dad, who could be made an NPC Prime).

-Outside of Mimic, his movepool is a little limited. Soma will mostly be about Powers until there.
-He's a comedic relief character that can't really be taken serious in many instances.
-Being a not very confrontational character for death battles means that he won't fight a lot.
-He's unsuited for fighting-focused sagas (Dante's Abyss for instance).

-The choice of NPCs to make as Secondaries is a little limited and would have to follow a specific style.
-The character will be butchered entirely as Shokugeki no Soma is not a fighting anime.
Malon - Legend of Zelda
In short: Malon, the girl of Lon Lon ranch, a recurring character but with her most important appearance being Ocarina of Time. There's not a lot told about her but she's relevant enough to be pretty well-known among fans. For moves and powers I'll probably be purchasing various items and tools that Link acquires during his quests across the various Legend of Zelda games, such as a bow, a magic boomerang, masks (from Majora's Mask) and various others - as well as a few farm tools, like sickles or a pitchfork.
+She's a very friendly character who would work well with the nicer Primes
+There's huge potential to play with Dank Dark Link, as well as other Legend of Zelda characters - and it seems to be a pretty well-liked fandom here in Omniverse.
+There's more fanart of her than I could use in a lifetime.
+I guess she could be a half-decent cook (nowhere near as much as Soma, of course).
+Shapeshifting and Alt forms can be incorporated with Majora's Mask masks.

-There's next to no reason for me to fight people as Malon is even less confrontational than Soma.
-It'll be a pretty brutal awakening for her when she finds out that the Omniverse can be kind of horrible with death and the like.
-I'm not really sure how and why Malon would obtain items that Link finds throughout his journey, as she's not really a fighter.
-Outside possibly of building up Lon Lon ranch, she has no long-termed goals and storylines preset.
New World
Posted by: Rcwynn - 12-16-2016, 01:59 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

Rcwynn woke up in a place of white and the first thing he sees is a fountain. As he looks around he sees cross road that seem to led nowhere. His first thought was that he was probably dead because he saw a figure that felt like a figure of great power. He picks up his trusty spear and puts it in his holster. He looks at the pates and think he has nothing to lose he take the path that says Coruscant. As Rcwynn walked his eyes hurts from the sky and ground being completely white.

It felt like a couple of hours of walking till he saw a gate, about 12 ft tall. He examine the area around him making sure he didn't forget anything as his headache got worst. So he jump into the gate and here comes a new world.

  An end to the ocean
Posted by: The Humble Sage - 12-16-2016, 02:30 AM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (4)

The Sage awoke with his face pressed against unrelenting concrete. He felt light-headed, almost faint, and he seriously considered whether he even wanted to open his eyes. The smallest glimmer of a thought managed to skip across his cranium, the flash of sunlight in glass, the shocking pain raked across his chest yet again, and The agony shocked him back into some semblance of awareness. The Bounty hunter. The memories flashed into his brain and he recalled the sequence of events that had led him to his current predicament.

He should be dead. The Sage grunted and leaned back against the wall of the alleyway. It was early morning, if the faint traces of light visible above the roofs were anything to go by. He must have passed out at some point during his flight the night before. How had he survived? His hand went to his chest. He should have bled out from the slash that he had taken at the end there.

Rummaging through the tattered remnants of his tunic, he traced his hand across the gash gingerly. He winced, the wound was still extremely tender. The slice was still there, he could feel it, razor thin, but extremely deep. As he traced a finger along the wound, he felt strange ridges, almost like… Did someone stitch me up? He thought, glancing down. He had always had a bit of a weak stomach for injuries, particularly his own. His head spun slightly as he stared at the slice. There was some sort of strange black cord that was threaded across the injury. The stitching was incredibly fine, whoever had done it must have been an extremely practiced physician. Or they had magic on their side… he thought as he stared at the perfectly parallel threads.

Regardless, he owed his life to whomever had done it. He shifted into a more comfortable position, and tried to take stock of things. His clothes were in tatters, and his dueling cane was missing. He’d struck Hiro in the throat with it, he remembered. The Satchel he carried his books and other supplies in was lying nearby, though the strap had been severed clean through during the fight. Had he carried the satchel away with him? That seemed like an odd choice. Still he had no other explanation, unless the person who had fixed his injuries had also brought it for him. Regardless he was likely still being searched for by Cinnabar’s law enforcement. In his current state he could neither deny his involvement nor elude capture. He needed time to recover, a place where he could be safe.

Looking down the alleyway, he saw a backdoor of some kind. With a wheezing cough, The Sage slide up the side of the wall, leaning against it for support. He made his way towards the door, dragging his satchel by the broken strap. After a painful few minutes, he reached the metal door. To his dismay, it refused to budge. With an almost feral growl of determination he slumped against the handle of the door, and began to absorb its handle’s Omnilium. He hated using this power. He felt empty, almost hollow, like he was stealing the very essence of the metal. It’s so strange… that by literally gaining in power I would feel weakened…  He didn’t need to extract the handle the whole way, just enough to deteriorate the locking mechanism. With a grunt he heaved on the handle of the door, and to his gratitude he heard the clicking of the lock. The door swung open and the Sage fell into a dark storeroom of some kind. This would do. The Sage pushed the door shut behind him and concentrated. The rainbow swirl of Omnilium lit the room, it was time to rest, to plan. He needed to think through his next steps.

Augmented power attacks relative to damage
Posted by: Dawnika Snow - 12-16-2016, 12:09 AM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (2)

Is it doable to make a super move that does more damage the more my character is injured? Like for example, for each 2-3 hp I lose in battle my weapon gains in strength like 1 more ATK in damage? If not, is there any way I can possibly do this?

The Vasty Deep and a Golden Coin [Completed]
Posted by: Yukki Kazuto - 12-13-2016, 11:43 AM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (5)

I stepped out of the gate leading to the Endless Dunes and into the Nexus. It looked as empty as ever, with a few primes going in and out of the Coruscant and Camelot gates, and what looked like a prime or two at the fountain that I had been reborn at. Not really caring for the world around me, I began my walk across the Nexus towards the gate of the Vasty Deep. Not seeing anybody that struck me as important, I stepped into the Vasty Deep, unsure of my current plan.

When I stepped into the Deep, I had been expecting something very opposite of what the Dunes were like. I stepped into a world with a calm blue sky, fresh air, and with moderate temperatures as opposed to the constantly scorching heat of the Dunes. I was pleasantly surprised by the city I saw around me that I began to wander through.

I saw many people selling different items at seemingly high prices, obviously meant for sale to tourists. I watched what seemed to be a parade for a moment, before losing interest from not actually knowing any people or groups in the parade. As I wandered, I saw a strange man, a beggar most likely, go from person to person, trying to trade a coin for some food. He was pushed off by most people, and even when he went to a market, it seemed the natives pushed him off for some reason.

I summoned a burger and walked up to the man. He saw the food in my hand, and began frantically begging for it. He offered me the coin, which appeared to be of a decent size, and of gold, or a gold like metal. I gave him the burger, and he pushed the coin into my hand, before disappearing into the crowd. I placed the coin in my jacket pocket, and continued to explore the town. I took note of the heavy imperial presence, both in standard uniforms, and in navy uniforms.

I wandered into a park, and sat on a bench, enjoying the air. It had been a long time since I had just been able to stop and rest, to enjoy what was around me, without having to worry about running from cops, people out to kill me, or other thieves. As I sat and listened to the birds chirp, I pulled out the coin in my pocket and began to investigate it.

It appeared to be solid gold, and was decent size. It felt a little heavy for it’s size, not at all like gold coins i had dealt with in the past, but I pushed it off as a result of being in the omniverse. It was of simple design, with only a small imprinted line a centimeter or so away from the circumference, circling the coin on both sides. It was very smooth, as if it had been fastened into a coin by someone who cared much about the result of his craft, with no nicks or scratches that I could see.

I picked up a rock and hit it against the coin, listening for a vibration. It gave off a solid vibration, with no echoing sound, and not changing midway as if it was made of two substances. For all intents and purposes, it seemed like a perfectly good, solid gold coin. So, one thing bothered me about it. Why had the local merchants, who were so quick to take money from other people without a second’s thought, keep far away from this particular coin? I shrugged it off. What was their loss had turned into my gain.

I put the coin back and began thinking about what I should do now. After a small moments thought, I decided to go see the ocean, and maybe take a dip in it. I got up off the bench, and began working my way to the ocean.

  Reflecting Attacks
Posted by: Lord Zedd - 12-12-2016, 11:13 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (5)

Sorry if I missed a previous  answer, but my forum searches came up short.

If I wanted to reflect an opponents attack back into them (example!), what would be the best way to go about that? All I've managed to figure out is a 600 OM move for the shielding + returning an attack, as well as a Super Defense + Offense of the matching tier to return the attack. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious.

Thanks!

  Get Up and Fight
Posted by: Simon - 12-12-2016, 08:21 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

He tore himself from the oppressive blanket of water covering him. Dante's lungs seized gulps of air in alarm, not immediately unsure of where he currently was or how he got to this point. The scrape of hell-forged steel against carved stone assured Dante that his sword remained mounted on his back. Then the rest of the blinding infinitude came into view, and the Prime realized what must have happened to him.

As to why exactly it happened, Dante could not be sure. The shock of the Fountain of Infinity's suffocating pool had seemed to knock him out of his apparent coma, but only just that. The devil hunter's brow furrowed, in a way that rarely happened as dramatically as it did now. He lifted from his resting place fully, the featureless liquid sloshing and dripping from his saturated features. Dante lifted his boot to the rim of the fountain, bracing on the masterful craftwork and then leaping out of it in a swift bound. The more persistent droplets of water dripped from his bangs and tails, as he swept the former aside with two fingers and kicked the latter out with each respective foot.

The half-blood devil craned his neck to the side, straining until that satisfying pop rung through his neck. Then he did it again in the other direction, rolling out his opposite shoulder. Dante's hand wrapped around the grip of his Ivory sidearm, leather-dressed palm digging into it with satisfaction before relenting. He rolled both shoulders this time, hands gripping the neck of his longcoat and straightening it with a sharp tug. With an ever-so-contented exhale, the devil hunter sat back and landed on the same edge of the fountain, that shining chrome blade dipping past his seat.

Well, whatever happened, it had to be a shame it sent him back here, Dante decided. No use dwelling on a question if he would beat himself up over the answer. Instead, he put his mind to better use, letting the Omnilium flow and the imagination shape it. Minutes later, the devil hunter opened his eyes again. He removed his limbs from their lazy crossed positions and rocked himself forward, onto his feet. Another motorcycle awaited him, the detail poured into the machine made much more obvious by it being the third such vehicle Dante summoned here.

With a bold stride, the devil hunter swung himself dramatically onto the red-armored motorbike, the few residual drops of Infinity's water thrown off the cuffs of his clothing. The fruit of his silent labor roared to life as he turned the key, Dante's face smirking with untold satisfaction. He revved one of the handlebars twice, listening to the response of mechanical growls beneath him. Then, wasting no more time, his boot kicked the cycle's gear shift, lurching away from the fountain. Within seconds, the rider climbed to 80 miles per hour in tune with the crescendo of the motor.

Dante had returned, and this time he had no intent of beating around the bush. He bore the power, the patience, the capability, and the last bullet in the chamber would be to realize it. Then, and only then, could he start truly looking towards the future - his future, here in the Omniverse.

Next stop, Coruscant. In a world of pristine white uniforms and oppressive regimes, theirs was an underbelly that could host Dante's "services" without any major conflict.
