  Mafia Game Thread
Posted by: Yukki Kazuto - 01-04-2017, 04:46 PM - Forum: The Arcade - Replies (61)

Congratulations! If you are reading this letter, you have been selected to spend up to a month living free of charge in the lovely town of Fyrestone! Now that everyone is here, I have a little bit of bad news for you. Turns out that our criminal background checks didn't work, and we have a few killers on the loose! No need to worry, however, as town members can lynch them if they find them.

Actual Game Rules:

The roles that we are playing with are as follows:

1 Godfather
1 Mafioso
1 Serial Killer
1 Medic
1 Mayor
1 Detective
4 Town Members

All ten members should have received a PM with a role and a link to this thread. During nights, please PM me your night actions. For people who need the response, I'll send one back. The game will start during the day.

It requires a majority of the town members voting for the same person to lynch them! As of now, that is 6 votes. If you wish to vote for someone, please follow the format below:

Vote: Player Name
Cancel Vote: Player Name
Change Vote: Player Name #1 to Player Name #2

Friendly tip from the GM: You don't have to justify why you are voting for someone in order for your vote to be counted, but if you wait to long as a town to vote, it's only going to be harder. Because of our player size, this is already a hard game for town to win.

Player List:

1. Chara
2. Miranda Frost
3. Weiss Schnee
4. Marcus Wright
5. Jade Harley
6. Revan Noctis
7. Eric Everstorm
8. Desman Black
9. Jams Bolero
10. Usopp

Good luck surviving!

It is now Day One. Voting has begun. All votes will be counted in 24 hours, or 5 PM EST. Day and Night cycles will take 48 hours in total.

You may begin.

To The Dust You Shall Return
Posted by: Koal - 01-04-2017, 03:51 PM - Forum: The Ashen Steppes - Replies (6)

Ashes to Ashes.

Dust to Dust.

Koal crouched down, dragging the tips of his fingers through the thick layer of ash on the ground, staining his skin with black powder. It seemed to permeate everything in this verse, finding its way into every niche and crevice available. He rubbed his fingers together, feeling the gritty substance grins beneath his digits. Bracing a hand on his knee, he rose from hair crouch, caring his gaze to the horizon. The wasteland was dotted with jagged cliffs and lava flows. It would be hell to navigate, but Seraph insisted this was a good place to set his plans in motion.

"No time to get started like the present." He mumbled, his footsteps throwing up a small cloud of ash. He looked around, his mind automatically forming plans and attack patterns, defensive positions, and potential hideouts. This world would do. It might have been rough around the eyes, but The Demon was determined to bend it to his will. A distant rumble echoed past Koal's ears, signaling yet another volcanic eruption. As if this world didn't have enough lava. He chuckled as a thought leapt to mind.

'Hell is a much scarier place than this, Koal.'

Koal continued to chuckle anyways, the sound deep and gravelly, akin to rocks grinding against each other. He stepped off of a drop off, bending his knees and rolling as he hit the ground. As he got up, he noticed that his left leg glistened with something dark... and wet. Koal gently touched his leg, his fingers coming away red as he pulled his hand back to gaze at it. Blood. As he reached his conclusion, A voice made itself known, calling out to the young man.

"Take another step and we'll end your worthless life. Don't think about trying to run either." Koal heard the metallic clacks of several guns being readied to fire. The voice was feminine and elegant, not fitting in with the ragged look of the Plains.

"We have you surrounded." The Demon looked around him, his eyes searching for any sign of the woman and her comrades, and sure enough, in the dim light, he saw several gun barrels trained at him. Their owners crept forward with the practiced movement of soldiers, and the Demon was impressed. Koal raised his hands above his head, moving slowly, as if they were dangerous animals. Which, in a way, they were.

"And why should I listen to you? I could end every single one of your lives right now if I wanted." He heard a laugh, a high and pure sound, like chiming bells. Then he felt a presence behind him, and words resounded next to his ear.

"We're not strangers to killing primes, friend. But I like your spirit. Maybe I'll keep you as a pet." Those words made Koal snarl, and as he twisted to rip her throat out, he felt the barrel of a gun slam into the back of his head, and his vision went dark.

Quote:Continued from Dante's return in the Nexus.

Much time passed after Dante's first and only yet visit to the Imperial city. Unlike the present situation, that last appearance happened on a whim; the devil hunter of the past lacked direction and intent, and so came here out of eight choices at random. At that time, he would not have even begun to comprehend the depth and expanse of the extra-dimensional world that currently held him.

That all seemed so silly now. It always did, though- as they say, hindsight is 20/20. Times changed, and like many adventures before, Dante proved himself all the stronger and wiser than he lived yesterday. The Stormtroopers flanking the gate were as cautious as ever to Dante's approach, following the norm. Without skipping a beat, the red-coated, silver-haired mercenary putted his machine to a stop before them and explained himself coolly. All the gears clicked into place as the troopers looked up "Tony Redgrave," to find his profile free of any ill marks. The satisfaction of the acceptation set in soon afterward, like being an honored guest at a club.

The devil hunter, at least abiding to the common law, carefully cruised through the checkpoint and onto the streets respectfully. Perhaps he didn't play quite as careful as he could've best done- the geared-up appearance and the noise pollution from his rough ride made Dante's presence as apparent as a hangnail. In spite of that, the hunter remained without concern. If there existed any significant reason for law enforcement to stop Dante, then the half-man half-devil wouldn't have gotten into this place without every white-suited soldier knowing about it and looking out for his handsome head.

Ultimately, Dante seemed allowed in this city without repercussions. That being said, the devil hunter decided he wouldn't be quite in the clear for a while yet. In the vein of a superstitious fellow on the wrong side of town, he did his part to remain inside the lines and hopefully inconspicuous. The red-coat even cut the engine of his bike as he took a transit elevator down to the second tier, pulling out his Dataverse Device to productively kill the time of the trip. While in this spared moment, Dante made an effort to figure out just how deep a mercenary might have to go in order to host their business.

Only later on would it tick with him just how fortunate he was, that the trip down took as long as it did to figure out the use of the Dataverse. Though the process involved a bit of fumbling through sites and menus, Dante managed to find his way to the information he wanted to see. Not moments later, the dull roar of the elevator's ominous passage slowed, coming to a lurching, muted halt.

"Tier 2," sang the computerized female voice overhead. The mercenary had been hoping to cobble together a vague idea of where one should start looking to set up their certain brand of business, but that would have to pause momentarily. Dante slid out of the opening doors alongside the chatter of others, not paying the most attention over how many pairs of eyes might have been glancing or staring at him. He followed the convenient public signs towards the next elevator, trying not to waste time but avoiding cutting corners.

Dante hadn't been paying much attention before as he merely ghosted through streets, but now that he was actually on a different Tier for once, he spared a glace or two about. Ultimately, it didn't look majorly different than how he recalled the surface, the architecture and atmosphere much the same as the upper level. Only the transit shafts poking into the digital sky gave any indication this place lived truly underneath a greater one.

What was truly notable, however, was the distinct lack of obvious patrol squads and military chokepoints. From what the mercenary had read of the supercity's structure, this would be the beginning of the notable downward trend in terms of military presence. That is to say, the farther down one went, the less solders around to keep the peace. With that in mind, Dante established an important rule for himself- stay out of the bottom-most tiers, except on business. The last thing a devil hunter like himself needed was the harassment of no-good punks and druggies on the daily.

Alas, there might've been a certain irony to that declaration, if Dante bothered to notice any of the judging gazes as he slipped into the next elevator.

Weiss took in a breath, a hand coming down to her stomach, smirking as she walked towards the restaurant door with Ruby. It was a little embarrassing for her to be caught like this, but then again, she really hadn’t had anything to eat. She felt so hungry she could faint!

Smiling, she once again thought about what they’d been through with a wince. It felt like Weiss had gone through hell and back, just for the small treasure of getting her friend - well, more than friend - back in her life. Six months of hell, then a week of trials afterwards. Still, Weiss closed her eyes in contentment. It was over. Life wasn’t normal, but it felt far more normal than anything else did. As she stepped forward, she knew it was with the trust of a soft hand in…

Weiss opened her eyes.

Her hand wasn’t holding on to anything. And as she looked at the plain, brick alley in front of her, she realized she was in no form of restaurant.
Weiss’s hand twitched, trying to find some evidence of the phantom hand.
“...Ruby?” Weiss breathed, her breathing growing thick as her hand went to Myrtenaster.

No.

“How sweet.” a chilling, feminine voice spoke from behind the confused huntress. The voice had a misty, feminine quality. It sounded almost ordinary, like a regular girl’s voice, but the edge it had at the end of it, and it’s creepy reverberation, made it sound horrifying. “...You really care for her, don’t you? It makes sense. Something had to be keeping you going.”

“Who are you?” Weiss asked, barely keeping her voice from cracking. She had no idea how she’d gotten here. Her first instinct was that she’d teleported, but if that had happened, she would have at least noticed something like that. Last she remembered, she was daydreaming about how things had changed in her life, and suddenly, Ruby was gone, she was here, and this creature was talking to her behind her. But if Ruby was gone -

“What have you done with her?!” Weiss spat, Myrtenaster exploding into her hands as red energy crackled along it’s edges. “If you touched her-”
Weiss’s voice faltered, as she heard a sucking, squelching noise. Her eyes widened as she realised where she recognized the sound:
It sounded just like when she’d stabbed Okor through his undead abdomen in the arena.
Weiss went to turn her body, to see her opponent, only to feel a sudden, wrenching pain as her body resisted her, deep in her...
In a cold sweat, she looked down…

Five jagged, bony daggers were jutting out of her stomach.
“Oh, I didn’t mean to worry you. She’s fine.” the voice answered, as Weiss tried to focus on the words. The whole room was starting to spin around her, and a dull buzzing had started to make itself known in her head.
“We can even go talk to her, if you’d like.” The voice continued. “After I’m finished with you, of course. We still have so much to do, partner."
Weiss tried to move, to do anything, but as she tried to turn her head, a rough, gritty hand grabbed her ponytail and wrenched her head back to the most horrifying face Weiss had ever witnessed.

“Hey.”

Quote:[Image: B4r7GvM.jpg]

“Look at me when I’m talking to you.”

Weiss wanted to scream, but instead, the pain in her perforated stomach finally caught up with her, and she found herself falling into unconsciousness.

When you play tabletop games four times a week at least, especially when they go late into the night... people say stupid and funny shit.

Gonna go ahead and warn you, this isn't the most clean set of quotes. Because we're not exactly the most filtered lot. There's a lot of people who say a lot of things, though, and I haven't kept track of who's said what. That, and I don't know if anybody would appreciate being named off here... so if they want to step forward, they may. But, y'know. No obligation to. Thought you folks might like a laugh, though.

Without further ado... THE LIST!

"What would I roll for puppy-dog eyes?"
"Instant tank - Just add water!"
"You have a +7 to motherfucker stabbing?!"
"They don't want you here, but they also don't want to approach you, so they're just making distressed crab noises."

Gin Yatreg: Episodic Adventures Chapter I

Gin tumbled out of the Darkshire gate, his body readjusting to being solid once more. Using the gate arch as support, he slowly pushed himself back onto his feet. "From what I remember, I left Tonic here before entering Karl Jak's verse," Gin thought, "Though to be honest, I only remember half of what happened. It's all a blur after I got slapped by Remilia," he continued, remembering the plane crash, the creepy forest, and exploring the abandoned carnival with his vampire companion.
"Oh crap, I just realized, I have no idea what happened to her! I hope she's okay!" he thought, worried about his friend. Soon after however, the memory of just how strong a simple slap from her was alleviated his fears, "Actually you know what, that shorty is probably fine," he said while rubbing the spot she made contact with. "Welp, I better go get Tonic, he should still be around here somewhere." he said before walking off.

***

Remilia, The Scarlet Devil, continued her walk through the Nexus. The bug woman had left shortly after their conversation came to an end, which left Remilia in a rather boring situation. Suddenly a large sneeze escaped her lips, which let her know that someone had been talking ill of her. “It seems like someone is asking for a beating in the future,” Remilia said aloud in an annoyed tone, mentally going through the list of people in this universe that knew her.

***

"Let me get this straight, Tonic," Gin said in an annoyed tone of voice, "You ate the tent, and everything in it."

"Wark {I did}," Tonic said, the translator around his neck still functioning even after all this time alone. "Wark War {And I regret nothing}," Tonic finished.

Just then, Gin felt a chill run down his spine, as if a great deal of pain awaited him in the future. “Did… Did you feel that?” Gin said, worried.

“Wark? {Feel what?}” Tonic asked, confused by his owner’s question.

Gin shook off the feeling and started walking towards the gate, “Ah, never mind. Let’s just get out of here,” He said.

***

Night began to fall as the two made their way through town, and by the times they had reached the gate, the streets were completely devoid of life. “This town really has been through a lot,” Gin thought. “Maybe when I’m stronger, I can help bring this place back to the way it used to be.”

A scream suddenly pierced through the quiet night, the call for help cutting its way into Gin’s ear drums. “The hell was that?! Come on Tonic, we gotta go help!” Gin shouted as he hopped onto Tonic’s saddle.

The two sped off in the direction of the scream, and eventually arrived in time to see three figures cornering a terrified woman. The figure in front stepped forward and lowered his hood, revealing a pale complexion and dark hair. The man bared a pair of fangs and lowered his jaw to the woman’s neck, prepared to bite.

Gin jumped off a still running Tonic and summoned an energy shield beneath his feet, and slid across the ground as if on a skateboard. Using the momentum he still had from riding Tonic, Gin rode straight into the group and cold cocked the man in front with a shield fist. Gin then stood in between the attackers and their target, squinting to get a better look at the other two in the growing darkness. Just like the first one, the other two had a pale complexion. One was a male, and the other seemed to be female, however he was unable to tell with their hoods still obscuring their faces.  “Let’s see, pale skin, fangs, about to bite someone in the neck, I’m going to guess vampires.” He said to them.

The one Gin punched stumbled to his feet, spitting out a tooth in the process. The man’s face contorted in anger, “You’ll pay for that, bloody human!” he shouted.

“Sorry, but I don’t think my insurance covers the undead,” Gin responded before grabbing the woman behind him by the arm, “RUN!” he shouted. The two fled past the vampires, who immediately began chase after their prey.

Tonic fell in line beside the two, and beckoned them to get on his back. Gin helped the woman on first, and then jumped on in front. Once his passengers were on, Tonic sped up as fast as his avian legs would let him.

Gin looked back; their pursuers appeared to be gone. It seemed like a good time to stop, but he didn’t trust being out in the open. Instead, he opted for Tonic to stop in an old barn, which was thankfully unlocked. Once inside, Gin quickly barred the door and exhaled a sign of relief. “Alright we should be fine in here for now,” He said before turning to the girl behind him, “Are you alright?” he asked.

“Yes,” She replied, “They didn’t get to bite me.”

That was good to hear, Gin thought. Now that they had a chance to rest, Gin was able to get a better look at the girl he saved. She had dark blonde hair, her skin was pale; though not as pale as the vampires outside, and emerald eyes. Gin walked over to the nearest bale of hay and sat down, leaning against the wall behind him. The girl did the same sitting across from Gin. The two then began to talk.

            “I’m Gin,” He said.

            “Austra,” She replied.

“Austra, how come you were outside alone?” Gin asked, getting straight to the point.

            “I had no choice.”

            “No choice?”

“Those three… they were keeping me captive in their mansion at the edge of town. I was next in line to be their meal, but I managed to escape my binds and get outside.”

“Were there others there with you?”

“Yes, I tried to help them, but they had already figured out I escaped. You saw what happened after.”

“Yeah, lucky I got there when I did,”

“Extremely, if you hadn’t shown up I might not have been able to see my family aga-,” she stopped and quickly stood up, “My family! They don’t know I’m alright yet, we have to get to my home!” she exclaimed.

“Wha- But it’s still dark out, those guys will be looking all over for you right now.” Gin said, flabbergasted.

“Please! We have to leave right away!” She grabbed Gin’s hands, and stared at him with pleading eyes.

“W-Well, I guess we could try.” Gin stammered, standing up.

“Thank you!” Austra yelled, hugging Gin.

After Austra let go, Gin moved to the barn door and un-barred it. “Alright, we have to be quick about this. As soon as I open the door we have to get on Tonic as fast as possible. Ready?” Gin asked.

            “Ready.”

“Alright, let’s go!” Gin yelled before swinging the door open, only to be face to face with the three vampires from earlier. Gin quickly slammed the door on them and re-barred it. “We may be trapped,” He said flatly. A hand quickly burst through the wooden door, trying to find the bar keeping the door form opening. Gin quickly backed away from the door and looked for another way out, “Don’t worry we can still make i-,” he managed to say before feeling a heavy blow to his head, and everything going black.

***

Gin’s eyes slowly opened up, his vision was blurry, and he felt a sharp pain on the back of his head. He tried to move, but to no avail. He heard a voice in his ear, it sounded familiar, yet new at the same time. He blinked, his vision starting to clear.

“-arting to wa-,” a voice said.

He could make out four figures in his vision now, albeit still blurry.

“Shall we begin then?” another higher-pitched voice asked.

“Yes, his blood should be flowing fast enough now,” the familiar voice said.

Finally his vision came into focus, and he saw the faces of his captors. The man from before, still wearing his coat; a tall brunet with red eyes, and a suit; a medium sized woman with dyed red hair and red eyes, wearing what looked like punk clothes; and a familiar looking woman with snow white hair, the common red eyes, and a dress like the one Austra was wearing. Hey, wait a second. “Austra?” Gin asked, surprised by this revelation.

“Yup, had you fooled didn’t I?” She said.

“So that entire thing was a set up? How the hell did you even plan that far ahead?” Gin asked, extremely confused.

Austra stopped the others, figuring there was no harm in explaining, “As you know, Darkshire is a very paranoid town. Everyone’s already inside by the time we come out to hunt. So we had to change how we hunted. We tried plenty of methods, but the one that worked the best was luring those who answered my calls for help, and picking them off one by one. Such as guardsmen, or the ones stupid enough to wander the town at night,” she said.

“Hey!” Gin yelled, offended by the stupid remark.

“Though I have to admit, you’re the first to actually get a hit in,” She continued.

“Are you thinking of turning him into a fledgling, sister?” the brunet asks.

“I was considering it, Oliver. Lord Dracula did say to start expanding our ranks in this town.” Austra answered.

“Enough stalling, we can talk about this AFTER we drink his blood,” the redhead interrupted.

Gin raised his hand, “Uh, do I get a say in this?” he asked, his voice somewhat more hoarse than before.

            “No.” the oldest one answered.

Gin put his hand down in disappointment, “Aw man.”

“Wait, why is his hand free from the binds we wrapped him in?!” the redhead exclaimed.

“Oh, that thing? Turns out having spikes on your arms and claws on your fingers after transforming is really useful while you’re tied up,” Gin said with an evil grin, wiggling his newly grown claws in front of him.

“Subdue him! Quickly!” Oliver yelled at his siblings. The vampires dove at Gin, who simply raised a bubble shield for them to bounce off of.

As the shield dissipated, Gin began to speak; “Now then,” he cracks his knuckles, ”Who wants to go first?” Gin said sadistically.

***

“And stay out!” Gin yelled, tossing the now tied up and badly bruised foursome out of the Darkshire gate. He rubs his hands together, and walks back into the town. “Now for the next item on the list, finding my damn bird again.” He said, annoyed.

  Scarred By Insanity

Dawnika exited the oddly placed tavern. That Miranda figure was intriguing. Hopefully she would have a chance to work with her in the near future. First thing’s first though, she needs to get rid of Kagetsume.

It would not be easy to locate this cult’s hideout, but from the tidbits she collected on the dataverse there was a joining process where a member had to find the entrance to their lair. This was deeply hidden in a code that was supposed to be really hard to crack. It explained the cult’s rituals and progress throughout their years in the Omniverse. Though most would find it hard to catch on to quickly without reading it a few times, the clues were hidden in the text, not the stories. Every capital letter, when put together, spelled out words, in which directed the reader to the cults main temple. Those capital letters spelled out the sentence, “IF YOU WISH TO JOIN, COME TO THE LARGEST VOLCANO IN THE ASH.” Simple enough.

With that, Dawn found herself a map of the Ashen Steppes, or what cartographers had mapped so far, on her dataverse device. The largest volcano mapped was few miles away. It would be some walk but Dawn was ready to expel this demon.

It took maybe an hour or two, and trailing through basilisks and other forms of monstrosities, but she finally made it to the marked volcano. It was huge, and it looked active. While this was most certainly dangerous, if Dawn died she would just respawn in the Nexus later so it would hardly be a drawback. She looked for an entrance in the face of the volcano. A tunnel system seemed to be carved into the wall of rock a short climb up the eastern side. That had to be what she was looking for. The vigilante spread her demonic angel wings and flew up to the opening of the tunnels, landing in the cave. From here on, it was going to be even more heated.

  Luci has a dream
Posted by: Luci - 01-02-2017, 09:40 PM - Forum: The Astral Realm - Replies (1)

***

Luci floats through a grey-scale dreamscape echo of Tier-5, her spray-paint can at the ready. The Astral Realm distorts sounds and shadows, warping them strangely, giving a surreal weirdness to every movement. Luci is not afraid. She passes by Moss, Klowdy's first lieutenant.

The area around Moss is flashing with brightly colored lights, contrasting with the grey of the Astral Realm around him. He is getting a lap-dance from a Twi'lek stripper. Luci floats on.

Luci sees Lyon, Klowdy's second lieutenant. He is sobbing, and holding the body of a young elven woman with a burn hole in her chest. She flinches, and floats on.

Klowdy's astral presence is strong. Whereas his friends light up a small ten-foot area with their dreams, Klowdy lights up a whole city block with color. He dreams of merchants and performers and families with laughing children and a hundred other people living happy, peaceful lives.

Luci follows behind him curiously, easing her way through the crowd. Klowdy is laughing with a group of young elves. Luci realizes with a shock that it is his gang, but with faces filled with joy and cleaned of war paint. Klowdy catches her eye and wanders over.

"Hey," he says nonchalantly. A hand-rolled cigarette in his mouth seems to not experience gravity and keeps trying to float away.

"Hey," Luci responds, her neck craning around. "This is beautiful. How long have you been Dreaming?" she asks, meaning how long has he become lucid in the Astral Plane.

"Oh for years now," the elf explains, peeling a tangerine. "It's the only place I can relax, let my guard down a little."

A young dwarf boy pulls a wagon of laughing elf children over the cobblestone road.

"I can understand that," says Luci, her eyes unfocusing, her mind going somewhere else for a moment.

"But you," Klowdy says "You're something else. You're a Native. You're a fish in water."

Luci shifts. "It reminds me of home."

Luci pauses. A young Ewok presses something into her hand. It's a glowing chrysanthemum.

"So," she says "You can dream of anything, and this is what you choose?"

Klowdy nods solemnly. Luci nods back, and looks at the flower in her hand.

"It's a good dream, Klowdy," she tells him. "It could be better."

"You're talkative all of a sudden," he says, bemused. "I don't recall asking for a critique, but since you're so chatty, why don't you tell me what would you do to make this dream better?"

Luci pulls him close.

Yukki vs Jams MF Version 2.0 (Judge Dawn)
Posted by: Yukki Kazuto - 01-02-2017, 03:54 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (16)

Sooo... Our last mock fight kind of died out, and it's completely my fault. This is our new attempt at this, and this thread is the place for us to discuss things in relation to the fight, for requests for extensions, and for the judge(s) to make comments and post judgements when the fight has concluded. That being said, we need someone to judge, so if you're interested please post here.

Now, to Jams specifically. These are the rules I propose, feel free to offer some other rules, and we'll decide on an official set.

Word Limit: 800
Posts Per Player: 3
Time Limit: 48 hours
Random Elements: Off (Not like it's going to matter, you have no super moves)
Damage Meter: On

While we wait for a judge, let's say (Just in case we think of something) that we have 24 hours from this post to buy items/moves/transformations in preparation. We also need to figure out where the fight is going to take place, so that we have a setting for the fight.

Ciao!
