Rainbow The Reaping
Posted by: Luci - 02-08-2017, 04:46 PM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (7)

Princess Hellstab lounges on a filthy couch with the equally filthy Weasel. The eight-year old princess is holding a rubber tourniquet tightly around Weasel's arm as the teenage witch readies a syringe full of green chems.

"I mean, what's to say?" Weasel asks rhetorically as she shoots up. "Dickface is dead, and Scab...Scab got cold...cold feet..." the gangster sighs as the drugs take hold. Princess Hellstab slaps a band aid with a happy face over the vein.

"You're still taking us to soccer practice later, right?" asks Hellstab, poking Weasel's slumped over form with her toe until she hears a grunt of affirmation.

Smiling, Princess Hellstab skips through the broken glass and sleeping bodies that litter the floor of the Westside hideout. She opens a door that should have led to a staircase, but now instead leads to a hallway. Unconcerned, the princess skips down the hallway, occasionally hopping over passed out junkies and sleeping gangsters. She opens the door at the end of the hallway and finds a spiral staircase she has never seen before. The Princess hops on the railing and slides down expertly, reflecting on the nature of reality.

Since Luci had started living with them, the abandoned house in Teir-5 had been slowly warping into a surreal Escher-like labyrinth of hallways and stairs. Doors lead mysterious places, stairways shifting when you aren't watching them. The Hufflepunks, a gang of former Hogwarts alumni, have adjusted easily. The Deathblades however, a gang of young children with an interest in anime, tend to get lost and scared. Princess Hellstab thinks of herself as a very brave warrior indeed, and so she tries not to cry when she gets lost, if nothing else than to set an example.

The princess opens a door at the bottom of the staircase and bumps into Yukki Kazuto.

"Sorry," he murmurs as he tries to push past her. The princess does not move, but glares up at the bounty-hunter.

"Oh, uh, pardon me, your Highness," he mumbles sleepily. The princess does not move, but glares up at the bounty hunter.

Yukki shrugs uncomfortably. "Uh, I'm just-"

"What were you doing?" asks the princess.

"What?" asks Yukki, despite having heard the young girl very well.

"Right now, what were you doing?" she repeats, despite her excellent annunciation.

"What were you doing?" asks Yukki, folding his arms and glaring back her highness. "Do you have a bedtime? Do you go to school? Are you barefoot right now? This house is disgusting, have you ever seen a doctor? Is that a plastic sword? Where are your parents?"

"I don't have parents," replies the princess flatly. "I go to the school of hard knocks, and we take night classes, that means no bedtime. And this sword might be plastic, but it kills orcs dead. Anyways, I'm on my way to a war council, wanna come?"

***

The war council is solemn as they sip fake tea from pink plastic cups. Gathered around Princess Hellstab's Royal War Table are eight representatives from two Westside gangs, and Yukki Kazuto.

At the head of the pink plastic table is Shadow Kill, the ten-year-old President of the Westside Deathblades. To his left is his sister, the elegant Princess Hellstab. They are flanked on either side by the first and second lieutenants of the Westside Deathblades.

At the foot of the table, her patched Hogwarts robe slipping with her eyelids, is Weasel, President of the Westside Hufflepunks. Her lieutenants, a trio of teenage punk rock wizards, struggle not to giggle as they sip the fake tea respectfully.

The topic of conversation is Voga, a Hutt pimp and sex trafficker. Apparently a small time Knife Ear gang have found him in Teir-4, but they don't have the muscle or the authorization for a hit. The issue is, as far as Yuki could see, that this council can't actually give authorization.

"Moss will literally kill me," Weasel reiterates. "Scab and Dick-Face, that's on me. That shit with Qor, that's on Koloth. Batgirl, that's on Shadow Kill. All those though, we got authorization from Luci for, and that's not the same as Moss, and we all know it. This is different. If we authorize this, behind everyone's back, Moss will call bullshit, and he's right. This needs council approval, and we won't get it from Moss, or the Ewoks, or the Klingons."

Shadow Kill confers quietly with Princess Hellstab. Weasel catches Yukki's eye and licks her lips grossly.

"Luci gave us a job," says President Shadow Kill in his young but confident voice. "That's all the approval I need."

The two gang leaders lock eyes from across the table. After a long while, Weasel lights a cigarette. She smokes in silence for a longer while.

"Moss will literally kill me," Weasel repeats. "I'm sorry. But I didn't sign up for the President Perky Tits Armed Forces."

The Deathblades lean in to whisper among themselves again.

Finally Princess Hellstab asks the table at large, "What if we send the Reaper?"

oHarmony 3rd Match - OOC Discussion
Posted by: Guu - 02-08-2017, 09:15 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (6)

New Topic: http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=7580

It's that time again!

If you're new to oHarmony, simply fill out this form for either a prime character or a secondary character and post it in the IC topic (make sure the OOC questions are in quote tags.) Come the next deadline, all characters submitted will be match up with each other! You and your matched player will arrange and IC date which you'll roleplay out in a separate topic in the respective verse.

Post with players you never got to before! Tell stories you wouldn't be able to with normal conditions! Anything is possible! I mean, hell, the first time we did this lead to the mass slaughter of an the entire oHarmony staff! Big Grin

Of course, make sure any primes or secondaries submitted are characters you can access in full compliance of the rules. You may submit more than one character but be sure you have time to write for all of them so you may not hold up your writing partners. If you would like to resubmit a character you've already put up an app for in a previous match up, please mention in a post below!

Hope to see many of you join in this time! I look forward to the love! Mwahahaha!

Message from President Mi Amore Cadenza:
Before I was kidnapped to the Omniverse by an insane unicorn prime who takes things on the dataverse way too seriously, I was often regarded as the Princess of Love. While I can no longer retain the title of "Princess" in this new world, the least I can do is continue to spread love and harmony in what is apparently my new home.

Not to mention, the crazy unicorn would probably bug me again if I don't keep standards up.

Anyways, months after the original company was all slaughtered (again, crazy unicorn,) we've finally got everything up and running in our new location in Ambrosia! While I can't promise that every match will be a success, I can promise that all your matches will be thought out to the best of my ability. So I hope you all give us a try!

Quote:We're starting this up again for Valentines day!

Please post new submissions in this topic!

The deadline for the next match up will be the 13th (probably sometime in the afternoon) so get them in!

  Achievements 2.0
Posted by: Alex - 02-08-2017, 08:07 AM - Forum: Update "One Stop" - Replies (148)

Hey, so we've always had a totally dope Achievements system here at the Omniverse.  People love trophies and stuff, obviously, but tracking them didn't really seem to catch on outside of a small nucleus of staff.

As part of trying to make this stuff more visible (and thus, more alluring), I've been experimenting with a forum plugin that allows the granting of 'Awards,' which can be displayed both in a user's profile and in their postbit (up to 4).  While I'm still trying to see if I can't finagle a way to let people pick-and-choose what goes into their postbit (a la Steam profiles), I decided to push ahead with converting Achievements to this new plugin.

While it hasn't been finalized yet, the new plugin would make it so people would have to 'claim' achievements, which can be granted by any staff member.

That said, if you'd like to claim an achievement, post here, and I'll gladly add it for you.  These are the first 'category' everything on the list, so a lot of them are things that even some new people probably have:

-+ Powers & Abilities +-

Ranged Proficiency: Having grown up in the very "do it yourself" landscape of Skyrim, Skadi learned to wield a bow at a very young age in order for her to hunt and help the family survive. This ranged skill only proved useful when she started to pick up on the more arcane talents she possessed. This being said, she's used to having to take things on from a distance. While using a bow, she will attempt to take out vital areas as soon as possible - the uncovered eye, bare neck or abdomen. She will conserve arrows if she can help it. She will always try to stay back to assess the situation before making any approaches.

Physical Proficiency: Even though she typically tries to handle situations from a good distance away, she is no stranger to having to get in close and use melee weapons or even her own fists. When in melee combat she tries to act quickly, focusing on vital areas on the body that she can get to - be they joints, ligaments or where an important artery runs. She's not much for toying with her targets. She strikes hard and fast; and with her particular profession, she revels in dissecting her targets as efficiently as possible.

Debuff Proficiency: Having mastered the usage of calling forth weapons from the planes of Oblivion, and having spent several years studying magicks related to Frost and the Cold, one could call her a budding master at inflicting lasting damage on her opponents. She specializes almost exclusively in Frost magic, and most of her weapons and spells inflict some form of this damage.

Ranged Materialize Proficiency: Skadi has spent many years of her life studying the magic school of Conjuration. As such, she can easily summon creatures, constructs and enact her attacks at a distance, often startling opponents who don't expect such things or know her fighting style all too well.

ATK: 2 - Having trained her strength a good deal, she's better at doing damage to her opponents than the average joe.
DEF: 4 - Skadi wears tank-like heavy armor typically, and as such, she can be like a miniature fortress.
SPD: 1 - Skadi has traded speed and mobility for security. Even in her heavy tank-like armor, she moves as fast as an in-shape human.
TEC: 3 - The field of an Assassin demands one be good at their job. She's pretty good at finding weak spots and taking full advantage of them.

-+ Prime NPCs +-
Quote:Full name: Ra'Tima

Why Prime NPC?: Ra'Tima is an important and powerful figure from Skadi's story. While her temperament shifts like the sands, she has generally been an ally to the Lich. This being said, she's also always been a pretty good deal stronger than said Vampiric Necromancer and I'd like to keep that dynamic going.

Personal or Site?: Personal

Source: Original (Skyrim, technically speaking)

Appearance:
[spoiler][Image: ratima_by_himitsuitami-d9oin06.png]

ALSO SEE: A picture drawn by Jade!![/spoiler]

Personality: Sharp and sarcastic, she doesn't like to daddle around with people who have no interests in her wares.

Character History: Growing up an urchin, Ra'Tima quickly became deeply involved with her homeland's equivalent of a Thieve's Guild, though she did eventually start picking up various contracts from a shady organisation called The Dark Brotherhood. The hot desert sands and dusty badlands taught her how to be a cut throat merchant, thief and killer if needed. Eventually she established herself and began to lead her own band of thieves, quickly gaining control over her region and defending it with tooth and claw. Having had her guild thrive, she turned to setting up trading routes and leading several caravans through her country.

Possible Reactions: A smooth talker with a sharp wit, Ra'Tima can be fairly impatient at times if she feels like she's being played with or led on. Viewed as an experienced merchant and thief, she knows a good deal when she sees one and will always remember if someone tried to give her a raw deal. Having a short temper, she can often be blunt and want to cut straight to the point.

Combat Style: When she attacks, it's a storm of biting fangs and deeply gouging claws. She knows when to stop and fall back, smart enough to recognize that it is best to take a loss and live to fight another day. Usually she kills her attackers with little to no remorse, though every once in a while, she might spare one in order to spend a message.

Skills: A great thief and a notable merchant. Her words are like milk and honey to the weary. Having practiced for many years, she is an excellent pickpocket, lockpicker and a master in the arts of going unseen when she wishes to disappear.

Storyline: May the Sands be Sturdy Beneath Your Feet [aka: MtSbSBYF]

This is relatively powerful, but takes a full five seconds to summon. While summoning the dagger, the caster must use their full concentration, being unable to attack or defend during the five seconds- they may only move around at a walking pace. Summoning this dagger is moderately draining. Using this dagger is moderately draining on the caster's stamina.

When hit by this dagger, the target feels a sensation of creeping cold radiating out from the point of impact. The cold stiffens the muscles, acting like frost and slowing the target through fatigue. This effect gets more debilitating the more they are hit, starting out fairly weak with one strike and building up to it's maximum effect with seven strikes. At maximum, it can leave an opponent cold and tired feeling for 30 seconds after which they slowly gain their vigor back. If hit by less than seven strikes, the effect takes three seconds per strike to dissipate. Can stack with other frost-based debuffs.

Summon Bound Bow (Ranged Proficiency, Debuff Proficiency) - 300

When cast, Bound Bow equips an ethereal version of the Daedric Bow and 100 ethereal Daedric Arrows for 120 seconds. After this the bow and all arrows 'evaporate' and must be resummoned. This is relatively powerful, but takes a full five seconds to summon. While summoning the bow, the caster must use their full concentration, being unable to attack or defend during the five seconds- they may only move around at a walking pace. Summoning this bow is moderately draining. It requires both hands to use, and as such other moves may not be used simultaneously. Arrows launched from this bow fly at around 300 feet per second- the speed of the average arrow. It has a maximum effective range of ~100 meters. Caster can shoot a single arrow per six seconds, this includes the time it takes to nock, draw, aim and fire the arrow. Using this bow is moderately draining on the caster's stamina.

When hit by an arrow from this bow, the target feels a sensation of creeping cold radiating out from the point of impact. The cold stiffens the muscles, acting like frost and slowing the target through fatigue. This effect gets more debilitating the more arrows find their mark, starting out fairly weak with one arrow and building up to it's maximum effect with five strikes. At maximum, it can leave an opponent cold and tired feeling for 30 seconds after which they slowly gain their vigor back. If hit by less than five arrows, the effect takes three seconds per arrow to dissipate. Can stack with other frost-based debuffs.

Transformations:(1500) T2 Nocturn's Incarnate (1500) [APPROVAL]

Nocturn's Incarnate (Tier 2 Power Up) - 1500

Ra'Tima raises a charm of the Daedric Prince Nocturn to her lips and kisses it, typically saying a quiet blessing. The shadows of the surrounding area seem to move, leaping towards her position and covering her. After about two seconds has passed the shadows completely solidify into a full set of Nightingale armor. The armor is mainly just for appearances and doesn't protect her any better than her normal defenses, but it does however imbue her with Lady Nocturn's blessing, increasing her speed, skill and attack.

  Undying Power-Up issue
Posted by: Undyne - 02-06-2017, 11:43 AM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (2)

In preparation of my T1 Power-Up for Undyne, I'm running into an issue of sorts that I need some help on. Is it possible to do the below under Omniverse rules, or would it be illegal?

The "Undying" Power-Up is based on Undertale's events. To briefly sum up what happens, Undyne takes lethal damage but by force of will transforms to her "Undying" form, which fills her HP bar back up. I would like to play Undyne closely to the game if at all possible, that's where the dilemma comes into play.

Leaving Regeneration/Healing and Survival aside for these considerations I want Undyne to activate that power-up following an attack of her opponent which is "up-played" as dealing much more damage than it normally would, leaving her near death before she activates the power-up form and 'recovers' from the up-played damage. To give an example, Undyne at full health is hit by a T1 attack, which would deal 2 damage (out of 20). This is up-played to Undyne reacting as if she took 19-20 damage and is about to kick the bucket. She activates the power-up and from there behaves 'normal' again, at 18/20 HP instead of 1/20.

The up-playing is intended to be pure RP fluff for drama purposes, not as a way to circumvent spending SP on Regeneration or to negate "real" damage. Still though, I want to be certain that this wouldn't be an issue.

  Of monsters and men
Posted by: Undyne - 02-06-2017, 08:57 AM - Forum: The Tangled Green - Replies (2)

After having crossed the overgrown gate that came closest to the one leading to Camelot Undyne was in for a pleasant surprise: they had come out into an enormous forest! For some odd reason crossing the gate turned their Tetsumas into living, breathing horses, but Undyne didn't bother trying to understand what was going on. There probably was some underlying magic rule that did not permit for mechanical mounts around here? Hell if she knew. But, she was digressing... the forest. It extended all around them, much like it did around the Snowdin region although it was a little more varied in terms of vegetation and there was no snow. Actually, quite the opposite: it was a little warm, the air was humid and there were occasional breezes. She found that she liked Snowdin better.

Jeremy perked his ears and listened to the sounds all around them. "This place is rather lively", he said. "I can hear animals and insects all around us."

"Well, you ARE a feline and your ears are half the size of your head, so no surprise there", Undyne remarked as she summoned a spear. "Hey, you know how to handle one of these?"

"No..."

"Well, that's too bad." She tossed it towards him and summoned a new one while Jeremy nearly fell out of the saddle as he tried to catch the thrown one and then hold onto it without cutting himself or the horse to shreds in the process. "I'm not your babysitter so you better get used to one. I'll summon a solid one so that yours doesn't break."

"I'll hurt myself more than anything that comes at me", the feline remarked while taking a few tentative stabs, adjusting to the spear in his hand to hold it properly. “I’d rather...” He blinked and stopped, his ears perking up and catching a sound that Undyne could not hear. “We may get company soon. There’s a pair of people coming our way.”

Undyne grinned broadly and patted his back. “See! I knew that you’d be able to make yourself useful. Now, just try to poke the spear at whatever gets too close to you. If they don’t jerk back, poke harder and yell for me to come help you.”

“And hope that I’m not dead by the time you are there”, he replied with a resigned sigh. “They’re coming that way... probably along this path. Three... no, four people, sounds like they are wearing metal armor. I hear clanking.”

“Armor, eh? Well then, see if I can’t match them. Just yell when they’re coming close.” She sat down and visualized her own suit, which wasn’t very hard. She had worn it for very long times after all, polished every surface, greased every joint and checked every leather piece. Jeremy meanwhile continued to listen, gripping the humming energy spear tighter and closely eyeing the footpath. But, whoever was coming that way, they were taking their sweet time. Undyne was able to conjure her armor and put everything on with time to spare. “Jeremy, withdraw for now”, she said as she fixated the helmet in place and took the horse’s reins to keep it close. “Don’t come out unless I tell you so.”

“What’s the matter?” he asked as he had his horse back up and turned to get off the path.

“My armor hides who I am but you’re exposed. We need to be careful.”

Shortly after a group of three men and a woman on foot came into view from behind a group of closely clumped-up trees, and followed the path towards her. When they noticed, they accelerated their steps. She noticed that they were wearing chainmail and leather armor, and maces. Good job, Jeremy, she thought to herself.

“Hoi, traveler!” the leader of the group spoke with a raised voice. “What’s someone like you doing this far from civilization?”

“Greetings, strangers, and I could be asking you the same thing”, Undyne replied. “I’ve actually just arrived through the Nexus Gate and am trying to get myself situated.”

“You’d best head the way we came from, then”, the man remarked. “Yggdrasil lies that way. Other’n that, there isn’t much to be found in this jungle.” While speaking he motioned to his comrades who started to move around Undyne. They tried to make it look like they were getting around her to continue their trek but she felt suspicious almost immediately. For now she just played along.

“Any path I should avoid?”

“You’d best not head south, that’s where the monsters have nested in.” He spat on the ground. “Ambrosians. At least all those freaks are clumped up in one place that way.”

Undyne snickered. “Monsters, you say? What sort of?”

“Freaks from Cinnabar, half-humans, bipedal animals... that sort of thing.”

“What about Boss monsters? White-furred and with goat-like horns and ears.”

“Hell if I know, stranger!” the other traveler said. “I’ve never set foot in there. You hunting one or something?”

“I might be. What’s it to you?”

“A traveling bounty-hunter then.” He grinned. “Your kind carry a lot of cash on you, don’t you?” Two of the travelers suddenly walked left and right of Undyne, seemingly casual as they did so, but she could also sense the fourth one directly behind her. They were trapping her. “And there I was unhappy that we’ll have to return to Scar saying that the elves found us out and we couldn’t snag any loot in the raid. At least we won’t come back empty-handed.” He reached for the sword hilt on his back.

“Don’t draw it. You’re making a big mistake.”

“The only mistake that can be made here is you not surrendering your armor and what’s in your pockets to us.”

Undyne chuckled and removed her helmet, revealing her fish features to the group leader, whose face reflected big surprise. “I’m not going to do any such thing. Now move along.”

“It’s a freak!” one of the other men yelled, the woman chiming in with a disgusted shriek and pulling a club from where it was attached to her waist. In the meantime, the group leader drew his sword and stepped forward to deliver a brutal slash at her unprotected head with a battlecry.

Her helmet, thrown with gusto, hit him straight in the face and sent him tumbling back, his broken nose sputtering blood over his clothes. The others cursed and attacked her simultaneously from three sides. It was too bad that they were dealing with an experienced combatant. Undyne blocked the axe hit from one side using the toughened steel of her left glove while summoning a spear into her right hand. The woman on her right side got in a hit with her club but she had aimed too low and instead of striking Undyne’s head hit the back of her torso-protecting armor, causing a loud clank and a dent. The third was preparing their bow and wasn’t a concern to her... yet.

“Humans are more pitiful than I thought. Even Frisk was more skilled than you!” Granted, Frisk had blocked her attacks and run away from her at the first chance instead of actually attacking her, but had she actually attacked the fight would have taken a very interesting turn. While toppling over the man whose strike she had blocked she blocked a second hit from the woman with the bottom of her spear, then grabbed the man before her by the shoulder just as he was regaining his balance and skewered him with the spear. The energy tip penetrated the crude chainmail, went straight through his body and broke through the back, covered in blood. His eyes widened and he spattered blood as Undyne tossed him back and snatched the axe from his hand before it could fall to the ground. One down, three to go.

“You monster! You killed Frank!” the woman yelled as she swung the club only to have it deflected by the axe, her momentum carrying her past the armored fish. She barely dodged a blow that would have split her in half.

“Shut up, Sapphire! You know you’re not supposed to use our real names!” yelled the man with the bow while hastily putting an arrow on the string and taking aim. “Keep her busy! I’ll kill this freak!”

With a rage-filled scream, the woman launched herself at Undyne once more. She kept her eyes on the axe when readying to swing her club and in the process missed her opponent shifting her weight until it was too late. Undyne’s armored boot hit her arm from below, forcing her to drop her club to move along to the motion if she didn’t want to break it. She cursed as she stumbled back, but her task had been accomplished: the fish-woman had stood still for long enough.

The bowman let go of the string of his bow and the arrow darted through the air. Only luck kept Undyne from having her head pierced, instead the arrow grazed her cheek, leaving a deep cut. But no blood poured out as she was still a monster... monsters don’t bleed. The woman’s eyes widened a bit as she realized that their plan had failed, before Undyne brought the axe down on her head, splitting her skull with the sickeningly sound of bones breaking and metal digging into brain mass. She left the weapon lodged in there and turned to the bowman who was drawing his dagger with shaky hands. “You’d better look behind you”, she said.

“Do you think I’m stupid or wha-” was all that he could respond before her summoned spear pierced his neck from behind. He could only sputter an incoherent word along with a splatter of blood before toppling forward and dying with his face on the ground.

The only one left was the group leader. Undyne summoned a new spear as she stepped towards him, knocking aside the sword that he stabbed at her. “I thought humans were stronger than that. All the monsters of the underground make up for one of you guys in soul power? How pathetic.”

“Wait! We have hostages! If you... if we don’t return to our lair, the boss will kill one for each of us that doesn’t-”

Undyne cut his plea short by stabbing him between the eyes, piercing his skull. He was dead instantly. Disgusted, she let the spear vanish again. “At least they will die knowing that you’re not walking this earth anymore. JEREMY!”

“I’m right here”, the feline replied with a wide-eyed smile that couldn’t hide his terror.

“I’ll extract their souls. You stand guard.” She gathered the bloodied bodies and laid them next to each other, then closed her eyes and focused. She had never extracted a human soul before, but she imagined that it had to be something like visualizing their essence and sucking it out. Unbeknownst to herself, what she actually did was Omnilium extraction instead, taking slightly over five minutes for each body. They vanished entirely. When she was finished with the first, she barely felt any stronger... not in the same way as had been told by the plaques in Waterfall. “These humans are exceptionally weak compared to what the legend has us believe. They didn’t even use magic.”

“And extracting a soul would leave the physical body unharmed”, noted Jeremy. “Does that mean that this is something else?”

“I’ve no idea, but in this Ambrosia place we may find more answers.” She finished the extracction, leaving only discarded weapons and a few splatters of blood on the path, then mounted back onto her horse. “Let’s get going. The human said southwards...”

“And what’s south?”

“Hang on, I remember that human history – I mean anime... they said that the sun rises east and descends west. So south has to be...” She checked the sun’s current position then pointed in a direction. “That way. Let’s get going.”

Jeremy shuddered as he lit a joint. He’d heard the stories of Undyne. But seeing the carnage was a whole different thing.
