Nippur Verse Info Update
Posted by: Sasuke Uchiha - 04-22-2018, 10:34 AM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (4)

New Babylon would like to submit for a change to our verse info so it more accurately reflects the current state of Nippur. Please and thank you! ^_^

From this:

A town founded by King Gilgamesh and his loyal followers.  Nippur grew quickly after its founding and attracted settlers from the more remote parts of the Dunes seeking refuge beneath the leadership of a man deemed a 'controversial' individual due to his penchant for violence and strong-armed responses to opposition.  Nippur resembles an ancient Middle Eastern town, with sandstone walls, temples, and other various structures.  Like many locations in the Omniverse, its culture is not homogenous, and there are plenty of more 'modern' structures, utilities, and services.

A monarchy led by a charismatic man with a deeply developed cult of personality, Nippur was thrown into permanent disarray when it suffered a string of attacks.  Two solitary acts of violence against Nippur was followed by a full-scale assault by a force of primes under the loose leadership of Sinestro, the Deputy of the Town with No Name.  Breaching the walls of the city, the primes besieged the streets of the city.  Various skirmishes broke out throughout Nippur's districts.  The Siege of Nippur was not as lop-sided as many journalists and historians account, but during the battle, King Gilgamesh was defeaten and banished.  Without their leader and with many of his lieutenants abroad, the city fell into chaos.

With no one to fill the power vacuum, Nippur's people fractured as some clung to the old regime and others sought something new.  Alongside this internal strife, the city also became the target of various raids from nomadic warlords and psychopaths. The Golden Cross, an organization set up by several inter-verse companies, has sought to provide the city with humanitarian aid, although successes are limited due to the Dunes' chaotic nature.

To this: (Changes in bold)

Half a day's journey from the Ashen Steppes gate, three hours from Carrefore, four hours from the Coruscant gate, and just a four to six hour walk northwest from the Nexus gate, (a few hours past Town With No Name) you will find the kingdom of New Babylon: Nippur. Formerly a mining settlement abandoned by the empire, the town was founded by King Gilgamesh and his loyal followers.

The Siege of Nippur was not as lop-sided as many journalists and historians account, but during the battle, King Gilgamesh was defeated and banished. Without their leader and with many of his lieutenants abroad, the city fell into chaos.

With no one to fill the power vacuum, Nippur's people fractured as some clung to the old regime and others sought something new. Alongside this internal strife, the city also became the target of various raids from nomadic warlords and psychopaths, namely the Deathchew Clan, led by Baron Deathchew.

The Golden Cross, an organization set up by several inter-verse companies, has sought to provide the city with humanitarian aid and although successes were originally limited due to the Dunes' chaotic nature, with Gilgamesh’s recent return, they have become a big help to the citizens of Nippur. Enabled by Gilgamesh’s building of Nippur’s first hospital, Golden Cross Hospital, named to honor the organization, morale within the city has begun to increase for the first time in years. In fact, with Gilgamesh's return to the city, comes proclamations of a rebirth to grandeur, a set of new laws to uphold, and an ensemble of primes tasked to enacting the betterment of Nippur's state. An email was prepared by Warren Zimmer, and sent to Ransom4u. This email was not something any young primes or innocent Primes should view though. The email was a long  - drawn out threat that was very graphic in nature.

From: QOCI@Totallyamgonnakillyouall.net
To: Ransom4u
Subject: Your Deaths.

First when I get my hands on you, I am going to boil you in oil. And then I'm going to flay the skin off your bones. After that, I will wait long enough for your skin to grow back. Once it has, I will promptly dip you in a volcano, and pull you out. Once you recover from that, I will burn you with a flamethrower. After you survive - and heal from that partially, I will freeze you to near death with a freeze ray.  And then I'm going to hit you with a de atomizer, and a reatomizer. Once that is done you're going through a meat grinder. There is but one thing you can do to spare yourselves the gruesome death I have planned for you.

RETURN MY OM AT ONCE!

Quote:Somewhere in Coruscant

"Alright, so anyway. Me and Pete were just dicking about, yeah. See, we managed to snag the Pocket Pocket's mailing list, and figured we'd just make some shitty old email account to mess with some peeps. I was an intern there a while back, so it wasn't so hard to get into their servers. Kevin was my mate, ya see."

"Yeah?"

"So, you'd never guess who's email I grabbed first."

"Was it the selfie stick guy?"

"Fuck of, Ben. It's never the selfie stick guy. Like, fuck. I swear you're gay for the nerd-Fabio crossover... So... yeah. It was none other than Warren-fucking-Zimmer. That dude who travelled halfway across the Omniverse because someone shit-talked him, only to get fucking aced by the weeb."

"Wait, seriously?"

"Hahaha, what did you do?"

"Yeah, so basically... Pete did some fishing around had the great idea to try and scam him. Nothing fancy, just 'we totally got your aunt hostage, bruh'. More of a joke than anything else really. Just a bit of shitposting. Anyway, at first he was like 'fuck off, I don't have an aunt' and shit like that-"

"When does this get to the funny part?"

"Fuck off Ben, I'm telling a story here."

"OOoooohhhhhhHHhhh."

"So. Right. I pull out some stock photos and shit and we dress Pete up like a proper businesswoman, shove a bag over his fugly-ass head, pull out the green screen, and shove the two pics together."

"Gay."

"Yeah, that's pretty gay bro. Iunno, playing dress-up with another dude."

"Go fuck yourself Timmy, I know you unironically liked that trap from fate."

"No u."

"Nay thee."

"..."

"So, anyway, instead of verifying any of this, the dude starts insisting that he gets to see this 'Aunt Susan' in person, or get to see her face, and so on. And, obviously, Pete is never gonna shave his beard, and we don't have an Aunt Susan to give him. So, we just keep BSing about how if he doesn't give up the one-thousand OM, she gun die, expecting him to like... I dunno... Do... something? Or just block us. We were just pushing as much as we could figuring he'd be the one to tell us to fuck off."

"Aaannnd...?"

"And, the fucker sent us all the OM. All of it. And, I think he's even going over to the Ashen Steppes in an attempt to meet us. Obviously, we're not there. Cuz, like, why would we bother waiting there after already getting the OM?"

"You're such a dick, dude. Gimme your phone, I wanna see this shit."

"Pffftt."

"My sides."

  A Raging Inferno
Posted by: James Knight - 04-19-2018, 10:23 PM - Forum: The Ashen Steppes - Replies (1)

There was only so much you could to an individual before they snapped. In the case of Warren Zimmer, the blackmailing of him with "Aunt Susan" was the straw that broke the camel's back. Now, normally, Warren could be patient, and relaxed. However, he was at the end of his rope with all of the stress he had been under. Unfortunately said stress needed an outlet that he could reach, and deal with. And Ransom4u had provided the outlet without knowing they had. Despite the scorching hot evironment of the Ashen Steppes, the Quarterback of Chaos was determined people were most definitely going to pay for this. The misery of his parched lungs caused him to nearly pause for a moment, but he simply willed his helmet away, poured some water down his throat, and made himself keep going. Today there was going to be a reckoning for every rotten thing that had befallen him in the Omniverse. While he couldn't take it out on the individuals he wished to, Ransom4u had been gracious enough to nominate themselves as the individuals who were going to pay a ransom of a different sort. A ransom that involved pained screams and suffering plentily with death rays, because he was in no mood for their continued mischief. The bleak looks of the Ashen Steppes made Warren think of this place as a good place for a new base - once he built one in the Endless Dunes with the permission of Gilgamesh.

For now though he was going to tackle his problems one at a time. Approaching the area near the gate of the Nexus where Ransom4u was, Warren materialized the Yandere Hater 9000 in one hand and strapped it to his back. It was official. He was done playing nice with people who attempted to scam him out of his hard earned Omnilium. Wasting 1000 Omnilium had cut him down significantly - and set his plans back a lot. Originally he had been saving that OM for his new base in the Dunes. So yes, he was going to exact revenge.

  An Ashen Fury
Posted by: James Knight - 04-19-2018, 10:08 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

There were days when people wished they could simply banish themselves back to their homeworld. Of course there were also times when people wished to put others on a conveyor belt that led into a series of death traps. In the case of the Quarterback of Chaos, today was one of the latter days for him, because of what he had experienced so far. To start out, there was an individual he despised who was still unharmed, and very much alive. And very much in the house that he had slaved over, and built practically on his own, as Hecate had been little help to be fair. This alone was not the cause of the unwanted sensation that the Quarterback of Chaos felt. No, it was not. Other matters also weighed down upon him like a ton of bricks. For example, the matter of “Aunt Susan” who he believed to be at least somewhat crazy. After all he did not have an Aunt Susan to his knowledge. And if someone had created an “Aunt Susan” in order to steal his Omnilium, they had another thing coming. Phony ransoms were not something the oQuarterback of Chaos was going to, or would ever pay. As such, the individuals were not going to get a single dime from him if he could avoid it. Still, he owed it to himself to at least see who the person was. Yet he was not going to put his life at risk by going there in person. Perhaps if he had some sort of minion, he could send said minion to risk their lives, and if they got killed he would know.

But no sadly enough he was going to have to deal with this personally. Of course on the upside he would get the opportunity to brutally, horribly, and horrifically maim and slaughter each and every last one of the people who bothered him, almost all of them anyway. The one he really wanted to drop in an active volcano, he couldn’t. At least, not at present yet. Sure, Luna may have advised against that course of action. But honestly, right now he didn’t give a crap. For the amount of irritation he had suffered due to the spam messages provided by "Aunt Susan" she was going to find herself flung into an active volcano - even if he had to create one himself. Yes, he was that annoyed about the spam. Of course with the spam messages he did have the courage to deal with it.The one thing he did know was that he had to get a lot stronger before he could deal with his other problems. Gaining the permission of Gilgamesh to build his house could wait until he had dealt with his current problems.

You see, Warren did not like being made a fool out of.  No, dislike was not the right word thought Warren, as he started the trek in the direction he was now headed. Sure this may not be as easy as he would have liked to do, but few things were.

As the pure white of the Nexus assaulted his senses Warren made haste towards the Ashen Steppes. Determined to get there as quickly as humanely possible - Warren had all manner of creative punishments planned for the Ransom4u people. An acid bath perhaps or several for their leader might discourage problems like this for him in the future. About roughly 5 hours later he reached the gate to the Ashen Steppes. With purpose he pushed forward and marched into it. It was time to deal with his problems.

No more hiding. No more cowardice. No more damn weakness. Warren was done with all that. For the time being he had discarded his fellow feeling and empathy.

  Questions from a Prime, Redux
Posted by: Jack Darby - 04-19-2018, 10:45 AM - Forum: Dataverse Messageboards - Replies (8)

Now I know I may have posted questions before,  but they received spam. This is why I have put up a spam filter on these questions for anyone who wishes to take a crack at answering them seriously.

1. Are there maps of the General Layout of Each verse, or just maps in General?
2. If someone has those maps, who is said person?
3. If any Primes have the maps, would they be willing to share them with me?
4. What is "New Babylon" as I've done some research on it, but lack  enough information on it?

Those are just the first four of my questions.

  Centurion's Second - Kate Hunt
Posted by: Kate Hunt - 04-18-2018, 03:52 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (5)

CHARACTER NAME: Katherine Hunt

CHARACTER SOURCE: Original Character

CHARACTER HISTORY:
Born in peace and raised in war, Katie was only 6 when the Reavers first appeared. No one knew where they came from, not even the soldiers who came to evacuate the family from their home in Modesto, California. It wasn’t long before Kate saw her first Reaver up close, and then her parents never again. The Modesto Quarantine Zone was wiped out quickly, leaving Kate and the ragtag survivors to band together and do their best to avoid the roving, techno-organic creatures in the desert.
Unfortunately, on her 8th birthday, the Watchers came. Like giant metallic Jellyfish they floated ominously upon the survivors, Reavers herding them like cattle. Katie was taken, drawn up into the sky by a Watcher’s cold embrace, and promptly fell unconscious. The next few years were painfully hazy, memories blending into an undefined sludge of pain, fear, and despair. Metal walls, bright lights, mystic symbols, scared faces, and terrible nightmares plague what’s left of Kate’s memories. A small unit of what remains of the US military happened across her wandering in the forests of Bellingham, Washington; Lost, cold, beaten, splattered with blood that wasn’t hers, and 14 years old.
She recovered slowly, relearning how to speak and slowly regaining her wits. Much to her despair, Katie could not remember her parents’ voices, or their faces. Nothing about the past six years stuck long in her head. Scarier still was a burning, itching brand on her left palm. The circle, a small curved bar in the center, almost sat on her skin like a tattoo or scar. No one understood it, let alone her, and she retreated into her own mind out of fear.
Eventually, Kate accepted her condition. She learned how to handle a gun and joined the local militia at 16. It was on one of her first excursions with her patrol that she met the Reavers again. For reasons Kate would only discover later, her palm started to burn before they came, a dim green glow emanating from the scar. The massive metallic beasts burst out of the bushes, deceptively silent for their bulky frames. In seconds she was down almost her entire patrol, three men eviscerated faster than she could react. It was another one of the recruits, Gabriel Jimenez, who dragged her out of her frozen stupor and back towards the encampment. The Reavers took chase, cutting through the few patrolmen left in a strangely desperate bid to get to the two young soldiers. Her brand only burned brighter and hotter as the Reavers came closer. One creature chanced a pounce, knocking Gabriel aside and pinning Kate to the dirt. She screamed, more from the pain on her palm than anything else, and the blank obsidian gaze of the metallic monster focused on her. In that instant, she panicked and slammed her left hand against the creature’s skin. It screamed, not it’s usually mocking fashion, but in pain. With that the Reavers scattered, seemingly terrified and fascinated by the light bursting forth from her palm. They ran, the one she had burned looking back with what she could only imagine was hatred.
After returning back to base with an injured Gabriel. no other members of her patrol, and a story no one would believe, word got out about the marked girl. She quickly became a legend, worse, a hero. It was then that other militias, some of which many were convinced had been wiped out, started reporting their own marked children of varying ages. It was a country-wide phenomenon… and a curse. Reavers started pouring out of the woodwork, Watchers never far behind, and hunting the marked. Kids were torn from their homes, then limb from limb. Those old enough to fight managed to run, but not hide. Anyone between the Reavers and the marked were as good as dead and that damned symbol became a sign of death. Convinced the symbol meant something more, the Militias threw everything into research and protecting the marked. It was quickly discovered that this mark, for some unknown reason, served as a catalyst to the inhuman technology that the Reavers possessed. The mark ascended beyond its fatal omen and became a symbol of hope and rebellion.
Kate herself become a symbol, a sign of an end to this war with the Reavers. Kate was moved constantly from base to base in a desperate bid to protect her. She remained on the run, constantly hunted, for months. On more than one occasion, innocent people have died to protect her, convinced they were fighting for some savior. Kate lives in constant fear, convinced they’re wrong about her. She’s only human, just a 17 year-old girl with no real purpose. Angry at herself and disparaged by all the death, she ran off on her own to protect the people who were trying to save her. Gabe followed close behind without her knowledge, dragging along some other soldiers who had grown close to them both. She begrudgingly accepted their companionship, secretly grateful for their loyalty. However, there was no safety in numbers. In a cruel twist of fate, Omni dragged Kate away from her team just as Reavers descended upon them in some lush forest far from home. As her brain struggles to comprehend the transference into the Omniverse, their screams and shouts still echo in her ears.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:

Kate is a 17 year old girl with a light complexion and deep brown eyes to match her brown hair. She is perpetually smeared with dirt and grime, unfamiliar with what it feels like not to have to crawl through a muddy forest in the dark to hide from deadly machines. She stands at 5'4", a height just as average as everything else about her. She is slim and undeveloped, easily mistaken for someone younger than she actually is.
STATS:
ATK: 1
DEF: 2
SPD: 3
TEC: 4

STARTING PROFICIENCIES:
Buff Proficiency - 400 OM
Ranged Proficiency - 1000 OM

STARTING POWERS:
Foresight - 1500 OM

STARTING MOVES:
M5a “Liberator” Modified Resistance Rifle - 300 OM (Ranged Proficiency)
Designed as a successor to the standard issue M4 Carbine, the Liberator serves as a symbol of resistance across the globe. As the most recent and common rifle populating the broken world that Kate comes from, it is a weapon she is familiar with. The standard, unmodified stock variant of the Liberator has an effective firing range of 450m, but a severe damage drop off after 250m. It fires semi-automatically, prizing precision over power. This accuracy compensates for the rate of fire and lack of stopping power the Liberator suffers from. Methodical and mechanical, the rifle fires .223 mm ammunition at 120 RPM from a 40-round magazine, which takes about 5 seconds to reload. Attached to the side of the barrel is her tactical flashlight, hastily slapped onto the rail system. Sometimes it brings back bittersweet memories.

Second Wind - 300 OM (Buff Proficiency)
The burning brand seared into Kate’s palm serves as more than just a magnet for death. As she has been forced to come to terms with its strange powers over time, the young girl has realized its abilities can be used to her advantage. One of those abilities is to provide a timely burst of adrenaline. With a touch of her hand and its glowing brand, Kate can trigger a response in the body of most any living thing, providing them with a powerful, albeit temporary, second wind. Small wounds and fatigue are forgotten, allowing the target to push through the pain in order to perform otherwise difficult feats with ease. It costs Kate a portion of her own stamina to provide this boost, and can leave her mildly weakened. This transference of energy requires skin-on-skin contact and 3 seconds of channeling. The target functions on borrowed strength, drawing from a pool of energy that is not their own during the rush. It can last up to 30 seconds, but in battle that’s all you might need. After the adrenaline fades, the target may feel drained and tired in direct relation to wounds they suffered before or during their rush, and anything fatal or severe takes the appropriate toll.
