  New (Borrowed) Moves
Posted by: Neal - 04-01-2015, 12:35 AM - Forum: The Creative Corner - Replies (10)

Alright, so I'm looking for two new moves which can be explained via telekineses. I need ONE to be defensive, such as a shield, while the other needs to be offensive. Here's the kicker though, I'd like them to be "spinoff" moves at the very least. That means I'd like the moves to be similar to some sort of common manga/anime that Neal might have watched.

If you want to nominate a move your character actually possesses, perhaps for an interesting turn of events during a future RP, I'd be happy to accept such trust! XD Otherwise, just toss out suggestions and possible mechanics you think would fit well with a Telekinetic user. Medium to long range is preferred, for the moment.

My thoughts for shielding are either Bakudo #81, Danku... or Shun Shun Rikka from Bleach, but I'm not so sure about them.

Offense wise, I'm pulling up a blank. Ghost fists for ranged boxing? Fist of Caine from WoD is all I could come up with, but I don't know if I want to go with table top games with Neal.

Ideas should generally state their source, user, and if you feel like it, the mechanics - but I can always google the original. Thanks for any help you can offer!

  The Primordial Weapon
Posted by: PepsiWhirda - 04-01-2015, 12:33 AM - Forum: The Pale Moors - Replies (27)

Whirda saw the tarrasque well before Blues scrambled around the corner, his armor battered and pouring smoke from half a dozen places. The abomination dwarfed any dragon she had ever seen, both physically and by its sheer calamitous presence. Her blood ran ice cold. Fear coiled coarse and sinewy in the pit of her stomach like serpents. It seemed to conquer her very imagination. Whirda found herself denying the beast's existence even as it rumbled toward them, quite real, the very bedrock of the hills crumbling to afford it passage.

She blinked once, twice, and finally managed to look away. Blues shook her shoulder with his remaining hand, his eyes inscrutable behind the visor, but his lips moving rapidly. Her hearing, focused before on the sound of the earth literally shattering, came back to the foreground next.

"—coming! Snap out of it! We need—"

"What the hell were we thinking..." Whirda breathed, paying the preteen machine no attention.

Bravado, plain and simple. In her short and hectic time in the Omniverse, Whirda had defeated ninjas, goblins and zombies, wolves and githzerai, even the mighty shade Ahn'Thrix. But this thing...

The tarrasque moved at no more than twice the speed of a human walking, seeming ponderous, almost bored. It meant them no ill-intent, Whirda realized. The beast destroyed in a straight line, regardless of obstruction, completely indiscriminate. Somehow that makes it all the more terrifying.

The punch came from below and knocked her on her ass. Now it was she who looked up at Blues, who scowled.

"Sorry," he said, "but I had to do something."

Whirda could only nod, rubbing her sore chin with one hand as she stood. The streets were empty, the drow seeming wisely to have packed up shop.

"Way I see it," Blues continued, "we have about fifteen minutes to plan. We're going to have to get up on its back, right? Maybe go for its eyes?"

A harsh laugh escaped before she could catch it. "Come on, kid. You don't actually intend to fight this thing, do you?"

"Well, yeah..."

"Here's the plan, Blues." Whirda pointed back in the direction of Darkshire. "We run that way, as fast as we can. We thank Omni, or whoever the hell else you're supposed to pray to in this gods-damned backward realm. Preferably we don't look back."

"This is it, isn't it?" Blues said, the gravity of the situation seeming finally to settle into him.

"Evacuate Darkshire into The Tangled Green and destroy the gate," Whirda affirmed. "Destroy all the gates. Seal off the Verse and trap this thing inside."

"There has to be another way," Blues argued. "Some way to slow it down, or—or cripple it!"

"I think we can help with that," said an unfamiliar voice from behind them.

In their distraction, they hadn't even seen the five strangers approach.

Posted by: Erza Scarlet - 04-01-2015, 12:01 AM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

Erza ended up coming to in a bit of a daze. She hadn't been knocked out like this since... Well, since she was a kid. She could normally defend herself from attackers of any sort, and falling wasn't usually a problem... That is, if one's ability to fly wasn't nullified by having completely exhausted a week's worth of magic energy the day before. She'd been looking forward to the quiet bliss of a good night's sleep at the end of an adventure, but instead, as soon as her eyes had closed, she'd been pulled against her will into a very Celestially-reminiscent void, hastily informed of the rules of her new plane of existence, and unceremoniously dropped onto a large, white floor from an unfortunate height.

Realizing this, she jumped to her feet, brushing herself off as quickly as she could while still appearing somewhat dignified. She had no idea how long she'd been lying there, unconscious, and - to her dismay - in her bedclothes. She closed her eyes, gritting her teeth, her eyebrows twitching more in annoyance than pain, and held a hand to her forehead as the discomfort worsened, a headache growing in strength as it centralized towards the front of her forehead, and then slowly dissipated to nothing. She looked down to her arms and legs - Not perfect, but less beaten up than when she'd fallen asleep last night, so that was a plus.

Again, she closed her eyes, this time concentrating on the innate magic of her very being. Her arms lifted, and a bright but somehow soft glow of white light enveloped her. Fading, it revealed the sturdy and slightly-battleworn Heart Kreuz armor she so adored, and which she found more comfortable than standard clothing. Strapping the plain sword to her back, she rested her fists on her hips as she took in the surroundings. Her Requip had apparently gleaned a few stares from some nearby folks, but her intimidating glare upon noticing them apparently was enough to turn their gaze the other way as they coughed an made excuses under their breath.

Above her stood a great tree, far taller than even the fantastic mushroom-hybrids of Edolas, though on closer inspection it seemed to be made of steel rather than wood. Starting at about ten feet there was an ever-expanding network of steel branches, a truly tangled mess of metal expanding beyond her sight to the sky. That must be what I fell from when I was sent here. The great tree seemed to be giving off a bit of shade, as Erza was presently doused in a mild pool of shadow, but this contrasted with the fact that this place didn't seem to have a sun. In fact, she didn't seem to have a shadow herself. She turned and walked out of the shade and into the omnipresent illumination that this place seemed to harbor.

The ground was white. The sky was white. The only things that weren't just intangible blankness were the denizens of this place. Humans, humanoids, even creatures that just looked like their names would be unintelligible to human ears walked, shambled and crawled about on the monotonal white plane. This certainly wasn't Edolas. Was this just... The future? The future OF the future she had come from, that is? ... No, couldn't be. The way it had been rather vaguely explained to her by the floating white body was as a completely different universe, probably unreachable from Fiore and Edolas alike. She seemed to be able to use her magic, though she could sense a disconnect between her and the majority of her armors and weapons. This was a strange feeling, one that she decided she'd have to rectify as soon as this foreign place would allow.

Erza grinned to herself. This would be a challenge, indeed, but surely it would at least be an interesting one. She'd overcome worse. Giving a quick nod to herself, and with her confidence regained, she began to make her way out into the crowd. Perhaps she could overhear something to help get her bearings - Or, barring that, just sort of eventually arrive somewhere important. Certainly there would be some way to make a name for herself in this odd place.

  Joe "Hebi" "Broomhead" Starburough
Posted by: Belle - 03-31-2015, 09:12 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (1)

Character name: Joseph "Hebi" "Broomhead" Starburough

Character source: One Piece (original)

Character history: Joe grew up in the chaotic "romantic era" of pirates. Hailing from a small village in East Blue, his home was often raided by outlaws on their way to the Grand Line, and neglected by the World Government because of its lack of importance. As such, he grew to disdain both groups, and when he was old enough, he set out to make his own way in the world.

Although that was his plan, like many youths, it was woefully lacking in details. He soon found himself drifting from place to place, nearly always broke, and having to steal to survive. Even happening upon the Haku Haku fruit didn't do much to help him: in a world covered by oceans, the power of the Devil Fruits is a mixed blessing, and while he gained power, he forever lost his ability to swim in the ocean. The energy of the sea sapped him of both his newly-acquired abilities as well as his strength, and he would for sure sink and drown. The fact that it was a Broom fruit was just adding insult to injury.

Eventually, inevitably, Joe was caught, and this time stealing from pirates. The group was about to teach him a permanent lesson when they were interrupted by the arrival of a bounty hunter. The man, "Triple Threat" Sunderland, dispatched the pirates in a dizzying display of speed and skill, and after it was over, claimed one of the unconscious victims as his prize. With a warning to Joe to keep his sticky fingers out of peoples' pockets or else it might be him that Sunderland came after next, the man laughed and went on his way. At that moment, Joe decided he wanted to become a bounty hunter himself.

As before, he didn't have much of a plan. What he did know, however, was that he needed training. Fortunately for him, the local Navy Enlistment station was all-too-happy to take on a new 'recruit.' Joseph put as much work into getting through the initial training as he could stomach, keeping his ears open, especially when volunteering to scrub floorboards around the bounty office. He took to his combat training with much more enthusiasm, earning high marks for his resourcefulness in battle, and for a while he was tempted to reconsider his dislike of the Navy. The desire to become a hunter slowly faded away.

It was on one of these days, relaxing after a hard training session, that he was reminded why there was a saying in his village: "the pirates come here and take what they may / so that the Navy can polish their tin and look the other way." His inspiration, Triple Threat, was seriously injured while fulfilling a Navy contract and almost dead from blood loss when he arrived at the Navy compound. Rather than tend to the man who had brought them so many criminals, the Navy Commander laughed and told Sunderland to go to the local clinic instead.

Joe had seen enough dead men walking to know that Sunderland didn't have a chance of making it there on his own. Although he had spent now two years in the service, Joe discarded it right then and there. With the commander screaming threats of dishonorable discharge after him, he picked up Sunderland's sagging body and rushed him to the clinic. His hard work had given him strength, the years had blessed him with long legs, and so he flew down the streets. He arrived at the clinic with just enough time left for the doctors to save the bounty hunter.

Joe hung up his uniform that day, and never put it back on. He had learned enough to know how to get started. The Navy were hypocrites, the pirates were savages - he wouldn't be a part of them, and he wouldn't be sheep for the taking, either. Broom in hand, he would strike back.

Physical Description: Tall and lanky, his skin is evenly tanned, with wiry definition to his muscles and a loping gait. His head of long blonde hair is slicked upwards - STRAIGHT upwards - and is accented by a bandana around his forehead. He has thick, sharply angled eyebrows above a pair of hazel eyes, a long nose, and almost constantly smirking lips.

He can usually be found wearing simple, utilitarian clothing, and his battle garb is the same, prefering to keep mobile with padded leather armor that has been worn at the joints to offer maximum flexibility.

  Emerald
Posted by: The Dreamer - 03-31-2015, 07:19 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (3)

Character name:
Emerald

Character source:
Original Character, based in the Steven Universe canon.

Character history:
Emerald is a Gem born a Kindergarten near a heavily forested area. She emerged from the rock much later than others, after those who created her had long since left. What it meant to be a Gem, and how to live as one; both were instilled in her at birth, presumable information implanted by the gems who created her. She took to the forests, now her home, and learn the ways of the animals that lived there, and in every other forest and jungle she lived in throughout her long life. she hadn't much contact with other Gems for most of here centuries of life, up until a point in time where large diamond shaped machine began to crash into the earth, near the forest she currently resided in. Began to moves through the her beloved forest, trashing it in it's wake. She had seen others, other Gems it seemed, take care of previous ones before this, often be Emerald even needed to intervene for fear of her forest. This time they were no where to be seen, so she engaged. By the time it was defeated, she had taken much damage to her gem, and for fear of her life, she had to retreat within to hopefully heal.

When she reawakened, she was standing before a strange humanoid creature in an endless white space. This is where her story of unlimited potential begins.

Physical Description:
Coming Soon.™

Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF: 3
SPD: 2
TEC: 2

Starting Proficiencies:
Physical Strength (1000 OM)
Debuff Proficiency (1000 OM)

Starting Powers:
Basic Regeneration (1300 OM)
Shapeshifting (1400 OM)

Starting Moves:

Emerald Claw Slash (requires Physical Strength) -- 300 OM
Emerald slashes at a target with her emerald claw gauntlets in a quick, sweeping motion, to cause additional damage to armor and flesh, more so than a normal punch could. This move would cause 4-5 moderately deep slashes on the target, about 5 inches in length, spread evenly across a 12 inch wide area of affect. Against Plate-style armor, this causes additional damage to the armor itself, increasing the chance to break or puncture the armor with each additional Emerald Claw Slash. Against Leather, this tears significant holes in the armor, and causes decent damage to the flesh underneath. Against only the target's flesh, or Cloth armor/clothing, this causes the target to bleed, slightly hindering their ability to continue to fight. Additional strike on the target's flesh stack this effect. Against Chainmail-style armor, this move is less effective, as her claws get more caught in the individual right of the mail, overall only doing blunt-force damage of similar strength.
Pros: Additional damage overall. Stacking chance to puncture plate-style armor. Stacking 'Bleed' effect against flesh and light cloth.
Cons: Drastically reduced effectiveness against Chainmail-style armor, akin to a regular punch of the same power. Stacking 'Bleed' effect is reduced against Leather wearing targets.

I'm thinking that this Bleed effect would cause the target to be less and less able to continue to fight, ending in either exhaustion, passing out, or not be able to actually aim acts very well anymore. Not too sure what would be appropriate though.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.
Yup.

If everything checks out, and my move is at 300 Om, then i used all 5000. Cool.

  Vote for Us! (April)
Posted by: Guu - 03-31-2015, 06:08 PM - Forum: Bookkeeping Archive - Replies (489)

You like having more people to play with, right? That was a rhetorical question, because having more people to write with is awesome. Do you also like OM? If the answer is 'yes', which OBVIOUSLY it is, then please vote for us on the following sites!

RPGfix (every 12 hours. If you register, your votes count as x2. Worth the couple of minutes to make an account if you're going to be voting every day)
Top RP Sites (Daily)

When you vote, please post here with your total vote count for this month. So "Voted: 1", "Voted: 3" or whatever. Just keep track of 'em. For our counting purposes, clicking vote on both sites counts as 1 vote. If you post less than twelve hours since your last post, we won't count it. Simple? SIMPLE.

At the end of the month, if you posted ...

7-13 times: You get 100 OM.
14-23 times: You get 200 OM.
24+ times: You get 300 OM.
Every day: You get 300 OM, and a high five from me for being so damn diligent.

If you have an alternate character and wish to claim your reward on that account as opposed to your main one, please let us know.

We're going to trust in this that people actually click the links and don't just reply. I mean it only takes a few seconds to click these links anyway, but if there's a discrepancy between the posts here and the number of votes, and people really want to try and scam their way to a few hundred extra OM without voting, then we'll just remove this. Capiche?

Thanks for voting everyone! If you have time, please also leave a vote and review for us on Top RPG sites (once only).

Olabisi Jana (the actual one)(I finished it I think)
Posted by: Olabisi Jana - 03-31-2015, 01:05 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (8)

Character name: Olabisi Jana Kwele ((O la BEE see - Ya na - KWEL ee))

Character source: original

Character history:
Olabisi grew up in a tribe in Kenya called Dambori. She was happy there. When she was 10 her family moved to California because her mother's sister was dying at the hands of an abusive husband...

She hated America with a burning passion because the children were always mean to her and criticized her super short hair, until she grew it out. She figured people didn't like her because she was different and smart. But she cared for knowledge more than people so she went through school with out ever making a friend. The only comfort she ever had was Obadiah-Ishmael, who had come to California a year before her.

She is taken in to the Omnivers in the middle of the night, while she was asleep in her brother's bed.
When she gets to the Omnivers, her only goal is to "find the demon who separated her from her brother, and kill them."

Olabisi is extremely shy. She runs away from people and conversations make her cry. She is also terrified of the male race and physical contact. The only exception is her cousin, Obadiah-Ishmael, who she refers to as "Brother," some times. She also always sleeps in his bed, even though they lived in different houses.

She is also very smart, which come almost too natural. She's a healer (not like a doctor, because she actually has no certified education in medicine) but it's nothing magical.(She uses herbs and things like that. She learned it from her mother, who is the country's healer.) She loves learning and books, and she has skills in many things...

except fighting. She's actually stupidly week. Not to mention she's also partially crippled in a way that she actually can't run with out her ankles giving out, unless she carefully thinks about every movement and step. Also she's kind of blind (but not really) so she kind of relies on her ears more than her eyes. (nothing magical)

She speaks Swahili, French, English, and German.

Physical Description:
Average height, maybe 5'2''. She's really dark, and she has thick, luscious, long, black hair. She has brown eyes, and is pretty curvy. She has a tattoo running from over her heart, to her left thigh. It is basically just a bunch of flowers on a vine.

Stats:
ATK: 1
DEF: 1
SPD: 4
TEC: 4

Starting Proficiencies:
Ranged Proficiency

Starting Powers: TBA

Starting Moves:

1)Basically she can bend the 4 elements. As long as they are there she can use them. Except fire, that's made in the stomach (though she does need the sun) There's nothing extra special about the moves. When she hits some one it's just like getting hit by a rock. Or water. Or wind. Or fire.

It can look different any time she uses it:
Water and fire: basically just look like there's a snake of it following her hands, fingers, and/or feet. She can freeze the water (and, you know, throw it like a stick or some thing. or maybe just freeze a puddle so some one can slip. Nothing extravagant.)

(If she were any better she could shift tides and bring tidal waves, or set a valley on fire in one move. But she's not that powerful, really, and that would take too much energy.)

The earth: looks more like little pillars she can pull out of the ground (or where ever there is earth) and bend. Whether it is for her to elevate her self or knock some thing over. She can also break(move/bend) solid rock (but it takes forever 'cause she's weak) with a lot of punching. It's the same thing, just different effects.

The air: well that doesn't look like any thing 'cause you can't see air.

These move does take a lot of concentration the whole time they are being used. (she can't focus, then attack. it doesn't work that way.) But, since she moves the elements with her body, she actually can't do it while standing still. If she wants to throw water at you, she actually has to move to get it done. it's an extremely physical power.

2) "Dunia, moto, maji, hewa." One thing she can do while standing still is energy bending. It takes a lot of concentration, because she is using all the elements at once. However, she is not bending the elements, only the energy she uses to bend the elements. She usually says those words back there and puts her hands out but it is not mandatory.

At it's weaker state it usually takes about 30 seconds to "load." She doesn't usually go past that because she's not very patient.

It usually looks like 4, light green, glowing beams (about five inches wide each) coming from her back, and then meeting at her target. (It still takes aim though. The same amount it woulld take if she were throwing a stick at some one.) When it hits you it's kind of like this over whelming tickling sensation, 'cept, you don't laugh or any thing. (you might) I does hurt, but it really only feels like... say you fell in to a vat of bees but they didn't really sting you, but it felt like they were draining your energy. It doesn't actually drain your energy but that what it feels like. It might knock you over if you didn't see it coming.

((Did I do this right?))

((I hope it's ok if I add a couple of things because I don't know where to put stuff like history and personality just yet. If it's not ok please don't hate me. I'll change it if it's not. Also some of the stuff I'll have to leave To Be Announced because I'm 100% about all the rules about powers and I don't want to break any on my first day here. I promise Imma finish this soon.))

*About:

She has a tattoo running from over her heart, to her left thigh. It is basically just a bunch of flowers.

She speaks Swahili, French, English, and German.

*History:
Olabisi grew up in a tribe in Kenya called Dambori. She was happy there. When she was 10 her family moved to California because he mother's sister was dying at the hands of an abusive husband...

She hated America with a burning passion because the children were always mean to her and criticized her super short hair, until she grew it out. She figured people didn't like her because she was different and smart. But she cared for knowledge more than people so she went through school with out ever making a friend. The only comfort he ever had was Obadiah-Ishmael, who had come to California a year before her.

When she gets to the Omniverse, her only goal is to "find the demon who separated her from her brother."
