New (Borrowed) Moves - Neal - 04-01-2015 Alright, so I'm looking for two new moves which can be explained via telekineses. I need ONE to be defensive, such as a shield, while the other needs to be offensive. Here's the kicker though, I'd like them to be "spinoff" moves at the very least. That means I'd like the moves to be similar to some sort of common manga/anime that Neal might have watched. If you want to nominate a move your character actually possesses, perhaps for an interesting turn of events during a future RP, I'd be happy to accept such trust! XD Otherwise, just toss out suggestions and possible mechanics you think would fit well with a Telekinetic user. Medium to long range is preferred, for the moment. My thoughts for shielding are either Bakudo #81, Danku... or Shun Shun Rikka from Bleach, but I'm not so sure about them. Offense wise, I'm pulling up a blank. Ghost fists for ranged boxing? Fist of Caine from WoD is all I could come up with, but I don't know if I want to go with table top games with Neal. Ideas should generally state their source, user, and if you feel like it, the mechanics - but I can always google the original. Thanks for any help you can offer! Re: New (Borrowed) Moves - Ganondorf - 04-01-2015 Go for Gaara's Sand Defense and Offense stuff. Lot of potential there. Re: New (Borrowed) Moves - Neal - 04-01-2015 I was going to have elemental abilities (Geokinesis, for example) for that sort of thing. Right now he can't focus on something as soft as sand and create a proper shield. Re: New (Borrowed) Moves - Neal - 04-01-2015 Sudden thought: if I had Buff, it could be Shell/Protect from the Final Fantasy series... but from my understanding, you can't buff yourself (for the added defense) right? Re: New (Borrowed) Moves - Ganondorf - 04-01-2015 The trouble I'm having is coming up with a "telekinetic" version of those from an established anime. Most of the one's I can recall were simple energy barriers. You can't Buff yourself, no. But you could take an Alternate Form for a similar effect. Or just make the Move Shield which would defend you from damage. Link has a shield, for example, and he's straight. It wouldn't ACTUALLY increase your Def, but it'd be a good roleplay tool. Re: New (Borrowed) Moves - The Dreamer - 04-01-2015 why not copy Gigamesh's barrier move? I mean, he's from an anime Re: New (Borrowed) Moves - Neal - 04-01-2015 Currently, Neal doesn't have a defense ability... he's physically a human with 1 att and 1 def, the +2 bonus mods only go into his Telekinetic power. Shell would be his way of explaining his physical defense... Should I break it down into Shell and Protect, like Final Fantasy? Physical and Magic? Or just go with one or the other for a mutual effect? Gilgamesh doesn't directly have a barrier move, I think it's an extension of Psionics (what all Eternals have) which NEal already uses. I want to break it down and give it a name though. Other ideas are still welcome. Re: New (Borrowed) Moves - Ganondorf - 04-01-2015 I'd just go for one Move for both. Or no Move and just explain that Neal's particular abilities manifest in a Protect and Power Buff spell which would explain why he's stronger and tougher here than in his world. Re: New (Borrowed) Moves - Neal - 04-01-2015 In his world he was absolutely human. Another thought is the Bari Bari no Mi from One Piece. Maybe a more limited version though. You could, like everyone says, just act like you're casting Shell/Protect when it's really just what your DEF does by being your DEF. RP-wise, you're using Shell, but mechanics-wise, you've got a 3 DEF. |
