  Wrath's Resurrection
Posted by: Asura - 05-14-2018, 04:42 PM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (1)

One thought crossed Asura's mind when he awoke. This is not Naraka. He was ready to come home. He would finally see Durga again. He would be able to watch over his daughter even from beyond, and take pride in the life he had lived, while he awaited the next. So why was he not in Naraka... Where was Durga? What was this inky black void? As these questions ran through his head... Another one arose. Why could he not move? That's when he saw it. That grin... That cheeky grin. The rest of the silhouette came into view after, but that cheeky, know it all grin, just rubbed him the wrong way entirely. And the more he talked, the more he wanted to wipe that grin off his face.

These were the most recent memories that graced Asura when he awoke before a strange fountain. The words did not process, lost somewhere along the way in his mind, rage having ambushed them somewhere in his mind and crushed them into a fine powder. The only word he remembered... It made him tremble in frustration. He glared at the fountain, hunched over as his body creaked with fury. He could feel his body had changed. It felt weaker. Vastly weaker. Could it handle his fury? He did not know... So he did the one thing he could to find out.  He screamed in rage.

"OMNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!"

The all too familiar feel of Wrath Mantra jettisoning out of his body soothed him in some strange manner. He could still use his power. A bright red pillar that screamed of power shot into the air, energy being expelled with no direction, unable to harm anything. After a good half a minute of screaming, Asura's rage calmed into mild irritation as he looked down at his arms. Gold coated, and though he could tell they were not nearly as durable as they once were, he would make them so again. He knew his body's limits, and he would raise them again. Surpass them again. It was only a matter of time. After all, he had been pulled here after dying for the... What was it, 3rd, 4th time? Not only that, his body had been weakened in the process. In order to do so, this Omni must be powerful.

The thought disgusted him, as he clenched his fists, the sound of metal creaking echoing around him, before he turned away from the fountain and stomped in a random direction. He could see others moving from place to place... And though they were a trek away, he could see several gates in the distance, for lack of a better term. The white void the area appeared to be infuriated him as well, reminding him all too much of the state Chakravartin placed the Event Horizon in during their final encounter. As he walked, the more it felt like he was supposed to be punching. The more ghosts of the creator he destroyed he witnessed. God, just looking at where the nearest gate was this trek was going to take forever. He had never been one for remembering the ghosts of combat after it had passed, but with only dots of people and strange gates in the distance to occupy his mind with, it insisted on wandering. He needed a distraction, fast...

For those of you who don't know, I've been saving up on purchasing things with Amaterasu just about since I joined with her. What was originally a simple lack of wanting to buy things turned into a decision that I would save my OM until I can spend it all in one epic spree, and well... today's the day!

:frogsiren: FEAST YOUR EYES UPON A 38.100 OM PURCHASE :frogsiren:

So yeah... Amaterasu has gone from being a sort of half-decent Prime with a handful of powers and moves to one hecking divine beast! And never you mind that 13.500 OM that didn't go into her but into her base, not herself. It's been a, what? Almost three year commitment where I only bought the essentials for my Void Quest and a few other odds and ends. I guess I just want to celebrate all that :frogbon:

Now, credit where credit is due, this thread is shamelessly copydoged off of Thaal's thread, and he actually served as inspiration to me in that journey. A 10k OM purchase was a pretty enormous thing to me back then, and still is now. Perhaps I will be the inspiration to one of you guys next? One can only hope.

In the meantime, thank you everyone for the awesome journey so far, for an awesome time in the CBox or in various threads Ammy has been in. And let it be known that I'm only getting started.

I've got this post here, which I am not sure of if I enacted things a bit too spectacularly and am making things 'too much' to be ruled as okay :frog: (It'll make sense when you read it) So before I post anything I would prefer to get a thumbs up!

Here's a link to my google document, with commenting privileges so you can point out if anything is not okay. I appreciate the help!

OmniCon 2018

See Trixie's discussion thread here: http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=10096

This post is only for official RSVPs, not discussion.  I want to keep a clean head count without sorting through dozens of posts.

DISCLAIMER: Alcohol will be present at the event.  For anyone under 21, you're still welcome to join but no underage drinking will be allowed or encouraged on my watch.

Current Attendees: Whirda, Trixie, Strazio, Drake, Mark, Wyatt, Sam

Pending Attendees: Alex, Spur, Yu Kanda, Deadpool, Handsome Jack*, Blink, Gamzee, ElFailzalot*

*Most likely not attending, but we can hope!

Right now, my proposal is this:

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/7140189?loc...2018-08-26

or

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/14533683?lo...2018-08-26

Note: As of right now we don't have anyone confirmed coming from the south, so we might try to move things further north into PA.

Dates of AUGUST 24th - 26th are now CONFIRMED.

Now, for price:

Price: ~$600-700 for 2 nights, split between attendees.  I would estimate total price for lodging to be between $75 and $100 each.

We will decide whether everyone should bring food and drink or we should do a big group shop when we arrive.

Anything less than 8 people we would look at a smaller/cheaper place.

Please reply only if you are interested in attending, and include your state or country of residence.  So far we have heard mostly from northeast(ish) USA folks, so we've planned location around that but it's subject to change.

If you feel like you can't afford the trip, I know I'll be setting up a carpool from Connecticut and Trixie will most likely be willing to do one from Ohio.  We're also willing to help with some/all of the cost for those who otherwise couldn't attend.

Let me know!

  Captain Marvelous, GokaiRed!
Posted by: Captain Marvelous - 05-13-2018, 10:15 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (3)

CHARACTER NAME: Captain Marvelous, A.K.A "GokaiRed of the Gokaiger"

CHARACTER SOURCE: Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, the 35th season of Super Sentai

CHARACTER HISTORY: In the universe shared by the tokusatsu heroes called Kamen Riders and Super Sentai, one team of transforming heroes captured the attention of the whole world; the Pirate Squad Gokaiger. Born in the wake of the Legendary Great War, a massive battle between every Sentai past and present against the Unstoppable Armada of the Zangyack Space Empire, the Gokaiger were masterminded by the mysterious AkaRed, the living embodiment of what it means to be a Red Ranger. After the Legendary Great War the powers of the 34 previous sentai were scattered across the galaxy by their final assault against Zangyack. This repelled the evil space empire temporarily but AkaRed knew the Earth (and the Greatest Treasure in the Universe that the Sentai have always defended) would need new heroes.

To this end he formed the Red Pirates, a band of galactic treasure hunters. AkaRed and his apprentice Basco were joined by a young man named Marvelous with nothing to lose who tried to steal AkaRed's treasure. Something in the young man called to AkaRed, and he invited Marvelous to join the crew. The trio scoured the stars for the Ranger Keys, hundreds of technomagic figurines they contained the power of sentai warriors.

The Red Pirates collected nearly all of the Keys before tragedy struck. Basco, hungry for the treasure and jealous of Marvelous for being AkaRed's favourite, betrayed his crew to the Zangyack. AkaRed perished in the flames of the mutiny but ensured Marvelous would escape.

In normal continuity, Marvelous then began to form his own pirate crew, the Gokaiger, and used devices left to him by AkaRed to transform into powerful warriors and summon their giant robot Gokai-Oh. Eventually they came to Earth in search of the Greatest Treasure in the Universe, coincidently at the exact time Zangyack returned to trouble the good people of the planet. Caught between their hatred of the Zangyack and their desire for treasure, the Gokaiger begrudgingly became the 35th Super Sentai to defend Earth.

This is where the story diverges. Instead of unlocking the Great Powers of the Sentai and finding the treasure, The Zangyack won. When the Emperor himself came up Earth it was the end of the Gokaiger. In the final battle the heroes were scattered to the stars, along with the Ranger Keys, the source of their power. In this story, this is when Captain Marvelous finds himself pulled into the Omniverse. Without his allies GokaiRed seeks to recover the Ranger Keys (at least the red ones...) and defeat the Omniverse and it's Empire, top which he sees many parallels with the Zangyack.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Marvelous is handsome young man with dark hair and eyes. Though he looks Japanese, Marvelous is actually from an alien species that evolved parallel to Earth humans. He always wears red, usually an ornate red jacket that hangs to his boots. He holds himself with the confidence and devil may care attitude of a heroic space pirate, but moves with a flair for the dramatic that conceals his great strength.

STATS:
ATK: 3
DEF: 2
SPD: 1
TEC: 3

STARTING PROFICIENCIES:
-Physical Strength (1000 OM)
-Ranged Proficiency (1000 OM)

STARTING POWERS:
-Super Jumping: Basic (300 OM)
-Master Acrobat (400 OM)

STARTING MOVES:

-Gokai Saber (requires Physical Strength - 600 OM)
A technomagic sword designed by AkaRed to interface with the Ranger Keys and harness the power of the Super Sentai. It resembles a pirate cutlass but uses sentai energy to make the heavy weapon light and perfectly sharp. It makes exaggerated metallic slicing noises whenever handled. It has a grappling line installed in it that can be used to swing the sword around at a longer range, a different fighting style that was more favoured by his lost partner Luka Milfy. There is a slot built into it to slide in Ranger Keys to power Super Moves.

-Gokai Gun (requires Ranged Proficiency - 300 OM)
A technomagic gun designed to look like a flintlock pistol. It was designed by AkaRed to draw on the power of Super Sentai. It hardens energy into round solid bullets that fire in small bursts so it never runs out of ammunition or requires reloading. It has a cylinder slot built into it that fits Ranger Keys to power up Super Moves.

-Gokai Change: GORENGER! (Requires Ranged Proficiency - 600 OM)
By inserting the AkaRanger Key into his Mobilates and turning the key Marvelous calls on the power and shape of AkaRanger, which manifests in mostly cosmetic and defensive ways. Taking on the physical appearance and mannerisms of AkaRanger, Marvelous is shielded by the first red Sentai leader against one major blow. When overwhelmed with an attack the form shatters, blunting the worst of the assault but returning Marvelous to his GokaiRed form. It also transforms his two Gokai Weapons into the laser pistol (no change but cosmetic for the Gokai Pistol) and electric whip of AkaRanger at the cost of being unable to use his regular Gokai Moves including Special Moves for the duration.

SUPER MOVES:

[Image: https3A2F2F782Emedia2Etumblr2Ecom2Ftumbl...0&fit=clip]

-Final Wave: Blast and Slash! - (requires Strength and Ranged, Tier 1 Super Move)

GokaiRed slots two red Ranger Keys into his Saber and Gun and closes the cylinders. The weapons begin to pulse with all the colours of the rainbow and their electronic voice shouts: "FINAL WAVE!" This is a slow build up.

GokaiRed yells; "Blast and Slash!" and initiates the attack. First he aims and fires with the Gokai Gun. This charged bullet crackles with sentai energy flame but moves slowly. Then Marvelous does a large overhand slash with the Gokai Saber and unleashes a cutting wave. This energy wave moves much faster than the bullet, smashing into it and propelling it rapidly into the target. Once struck the target crackles with red lightning before the Sentai energy ignites into a flaming explosion, giving Marvelous enough time to pose dramatically.

Marvelous will only do this when his weapons have built up some energy from fighting, only when he's transformed into GokaiRed and only when it's dramatically appropriate. He can only use it once per fight.

EQUIPMENT:

-Mobilates (Communicator - 200 OM) A functioning cell phone as well as the transformation device that interfaces with the Ranger Keys to allow Marvelous to transform into GokaiRed or other Legendary Sentai.

Note: as a roleplaying weakness, when not transformed into his sentai battle form, Marvelous is at -1 STR and TEC. He must henshin to go to to toe with other Primes.

If all my expenditures are approved I have 0 OM left. My hope is to tell the story of Marvelous finding the Ranger Keys, unlocking forms based on different Sentai Red Rangers and maybe dealing with the other members of his supporting cast in new lives in the Omniverse.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

Memories came back of his brief stint working for Krew for cash while he was with Jak. It took a while for both to get acquainted but Jak was alright after all this time.

  A Distraction

Beneath the street of Tier Four, resting in a niche of the immense web of sewage ways and piping that lay beneath the glittering towers above, was an arena.

It wasn't impressive, as stages went. Compared to the Heaven's Arena, it was practically a slum. But it did offer one thing that such sanctioned, officially recognized venues didn't, and that was the unrestricted use of force.

Hisoka inspected his nails, then gazed upward. Whoever had built the arena must have had co-conspirators in the construction industry, he thought, to have set this all up. Although he called it a niche, that was in relative terms to the enormous pipes surrounding it. The entire area had been walled off, electrical power fed, and considering their proximity to the Tier's heating pipes, a mammoth air conditioning system installed to keep the patrons comfortable. Around the center ring, seats rose like an amphitheater, each level seperated by several steps. Cheering, bloodthirsty gnats packed the upper reaches, far away from the ring itself, crowded onto wide stone blocks. The lower levels were more exquisitely furnished, with the first three being especially so. Closest to the stage, besuited mobsters, businessmen, and the perenially rich indulged themselves in the spectacle of violence, seated at elegantly lit tables in plushly padded chairs, half-eaten meals left before them.

Flexing his fingers, Hisoka loosened the muscles of his wrist, allowing the playing card he had placed underneath the band to slide out, into his hand. Holding the card between index and middle fingers, he lowered his eyes back to the other in the ring with him. "Now," he mused. "What shall I do with you?"

The bearded man before him twitched, letting out a gasp of pain. Sitting on his knees, his muscled body was bent backward, his arms out to the side, his face pointed towards the ceiling. Sweat clung to his bronze skin and dark, scraggly beard. "What-" the man gurgled, then cut off, his breath hitching with a cry of agony as his body arched further back upon itself. "What did you do?!"

Hisoka smirked. "Who knows?" he answered, his voice svelte and smooth. It was a natural question: the man couldn't see what Hisoka saw. The man couldn't see the aura that clung to his feet and knees like tar; to his wrists that had been webbed to the faraway corners of the ring by invisible threads; and to his head, attached by a thick stripe to his lower back.

But Hisoka couldn't blame the man. Aura was hard to perceive even when one wasn't using a technique to conceal it, like Hisoka was. Perhaps he was being overcautious; no one had yet been able to penetrate the veil. Oh well, he thought to himself. Old habits died hard; but he had to admit: it was so much fun to watch the confusion ripple across the faces of his prey, the writhing of their bodies like worms caught on hooks... Yes, it was worth the extra effort.

Hisoka stepped forward, one hand on his hip, the other slowly turning the card's face towards him. "It's a little bit of a magic trick. Unfortunately, you know, a magician never reveals his secrets."

The man swore, spitting. "Don't mock me, you freak," he snarled. He tensed further as Hisoka neared, attempting once again to move. His half-naked body strained, bare chest  rippling as he fought to pull his arms towards one another, fighting against the elastic aura that chained him. His corded muscles coiled, moving one inch, then another. His face bright red as he glared up into Hisoka's smiling visage, burning hatred in his eyes.

Oh, those eyes...! Hisoka loved those eyes. What a pity, he thought, that they had to belong to such a man. Hisoka had seen it in him during their bout - so simple. Hisoka yearned for that. Yet that simpleness offered the man no clarity. Whatever potential he man might have once had, he had squandered it in compromise after compromise. He was now too rigid, so confident in his own muscles that he had ignored everything else strength had to offer.

The muscles trembled, strained - beaded sweat rolling across the man's body. Then, abruptly, the effort gave out, muscles releasing, and with a reverberating SNAP, the man's arms recoiled back into position, pinned outwards.

"I'm not mocking you," Hisoka murmured, caressing the man's cheek with the back of his fingers. Focusing his aura, he tilted the playing card held between his fingers. The edge touched the corner of the man's eye, and blood flowed exuberantly from the opening wound, the card's edge slicing through skin as if it were as sharp as a razor blade. "Only another magician could see through my tricks. So tell me," he asked, and smiled. "Do you still not believe in magic?"

The arena had fallen silent. The air was pregnant with expectation. Hisoka could feel it, the sensation like tickling fingers across his skin. He shivered in delight.

The man's eyes widened. He must have seen something in Hisoka's face, some suggestion of what was about to happen. The pre-match announcement had billed him as a survivor of many deathmatches, but Hisoka guessed that now was probably the first time he had actually seen Death's scythe coming for him. With a sudden struggle, giving a last desperate attempt like a candle flame against a hurricane, he roared at Hisoka, defiant, flecking spit flying from his mouth. "Fuck you, clown!" he bellowed. "Fuck-!"

The card flashed, and a spray of blood sailed from the man's bared neck. His body jerked and stiffened, eyes widening. His once mighty voice trailed off into coughs and gurgles, crimson pouring in smaller and smaller gushes from the gaping wound.

Hisoka stood back, card held loosely in his fingers, blood dripping from the edge down to the corner. The arena remained silent, until at last the jerking and twitching stopped. With a lowering of his head, Hisoka released his aura, and the restraints on the recently deceased vanished, body collapsing back to the tiled arena floor.

Another few seconds of silence, and then - cheers. As the announcement went out over the arena's PA, Hisoka flicked his hand, sending the remaining droplets to the ground. Then, with sleight of hand and flick of his fingers, he tucked the card back into his wrist band. Another win. If he kept this up, he might actually climb the ranks enough to start facing a real challenge. Then he could give these hungry people a real show.

Sweeping his arm up, Hisoka bowed, his yellow eyes squinting with amusement as the cheers continued. No, it was no Heaven's Arena, but it sufficed. Turning from the prone form of the man whose name he had forgotten, Hisoka stepped off of the slightly raised dueling floor and exited the floor via the nearest of two vomitoriums that fed fighters towards the killing ground.

Yes, he thought to himself, it was a fine distraction.
