Captain Marvelous, GokaiRed! - Captain Marvelous - 05-13-2018 CHARACTER NAME: Captain Marvelous, A.K.A "GokaiRed of the Gokaiger" CHARACTER SOURCE: Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, the 35th season of Super Sentai CHARACTER HISTORY: In the universe shared by the tokusatsu heroes called Kamen Riders and Super Sentai, one team of transforming heroes captured the attention of the whole world; the Pirate Squad Gokaiger. Born in the wake of the Legendary Great War, a massive battle between every Sentai past and present against the Unstoppable Armada of the Zangyack Space Empire, the Gokaiger were masterminded by the mysterious AkaRed, the living embodiment of what it means to be a Red Ranger. After the Legendary Great War the powers of the 34 previous sentai were scattered across the galaxy by their final assault against Zangyack. This repelled the evil space empire temporarily but AkaRed knew the Earth (and the Greatest Treasure in the Universe that the Sentai have always defended) would need new heroes. To this end he formed the Red Pirates, a band of galactic treasure hunters. AkaRed and his apprentice Basco were joined by a young man named Marvelous with nothing to lose who tried to steal AkaRed's treasure. Something in the young man called to AkaRed, and he invited Marvelous to join the crew. The trio scoured the stars for the Ranger Keys, hundreds of technomagic figurines they contained the power of sentai warriors. The Red Pirates collected nearly all of the Keys before tragedy struck. Basco, hungry for the treasure and jealous of Marvelous for being AkaRed's favourite, betrayed his crew to the Zangyack. AkaRed perished in the flames of the mutiny but ensured Marvelous would escape. In normal continuity, Marvelous then began to form his own pirate crew, the Gokaiger, and used devices left to him by AkaRed to transform into powerful warriors and summon their giant robot Gokai-Oh. Eventually they came to Earth in search of the Greatest Treasure in the Universe, coincidently at the exact time Zangyack returned to trouble the good people of the planet. Caught between their hatred of the Zangyack and their desire for treasure, the Gokaiger begrudgingly became the 35th Super Sentai to defend Earth. This is where the story diverges. Instead of unlocking the Great Powers of the Sentai and finding the treasure, The Zangyack won. When the Emperor himself came up Earth it was the end of the Gokaiger. In the final battle the heroes were scattered to the stars, along with the Ranger Keys, the source of their power. In this story, this is when Captain Marvelous finds himself pulled into the Omniverse. Without his allies GokaiRed seeks to recover the Ranger Keys (at least the red ones...) and defeat the Omniverse and it's Empire, top which he sees many parallels with the Zangyack. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Marvelous is handsome young man with dark hair and eyes. Though he looks Japanese, Marvelous is actually from an alien species that evolved parallel to Earth humans. He always wears red, usually an ornate red jacket that hangs to his boots. He holds himself with the confidence and devil may care attitude of a heroic space pirate, but moves with a flair for the dramatic that conceals his great strength. STATS: ATK: 3 DEF: 2 SPD: 1 TEC: 3 STARTING PROFICIENCIES: -Physical Strength (1000 OM) -Ranged Proficiency (1000 OM) STARTING POWERS: -Super Jumping: Basic (300 OM) -Master Acrobat (400 OM) STARTING MOVES: -Gokai Saber (requires Physical Strength - 600 OM) A technomagic sword designed by AkaRed to interface with the Ranger Keys and harness the power of the Super Sentai. It resembles a pirate cutlass but uses sentai energy to make the heavy weapon light and perfectly sharp. It makes exaggerated metallic slicing noises whenever handled. It has a grappling line installed in it that can be used to swing the sword around at a longer range, a different fighting style that was more favoured by his lost partner Luka Milfy. There is a slot built into it to slide in Ranger Keys to power Super Moves. -Gokai Gun (requires Ranged Proficiency - 300 OM) A technomagic gun designed to look like a flintlock pistol. It was designed by AkaRed to draw on the power of Super Sentai. It hardens energy into round solid bullets that fire in small bursts so it never runs out of ammunition or requires reloading. It has a cylinder slot built into it that fits Ranger Keys to power up Super Moves. -Gokai Change: GORENGER! (Requires Ranged Proficiency - 600 OM) By inserting the AkaRanger Key into his Mobilates and turning the key Marvelous calls on the power and shape of AkaRanger, which manifests in mostly cosmetic and defensive ways. Taking on the physical appearance and mannerisms of AkaRanger, Marvelous is shielded by the first red Sentai leader against one major blow. When overwhelmed with an attack the form shatters, blunting the worst of the assault but returning Marvelous to his GokaiRed form. It also transforms his two Gokai Weapons into the laser pistol (no change but cosmetic for the Gokai Pistol) and electric whip of AkaRanger at the cost of being unable to use his regular Gokai Moves including Special Moves for the duration. SUPER MOVES: -Final Wave: Blast and Slash! - (requires Strength and Ranged, Tier 1 Super Move) GokaiRed slots two red Ranger Keys into his Saber and Gun and closes the cylinders. The weapons begin to pulse with all the colours of the rainbow and their electronic voice shouts: "FINAL WAVE!" This is a slow build up. GokaiRed yells; "Blast and Slash!" and initiates the attack. First he aims and fires with the Gokai Gun. This charged bullet crackles with sentai energy flame but moves slowly. Then Marvelous does a large overhand slash with the Gokai Saber and unleashes a cutting wave. This energy wave moves much faster than the bullet, smashing into it and propelling it rapidly into the target. Once struck the target crackles with red lightning before the Sentai energy ignites into a flaming explosion, giving Marvelous enough time to pose dramatically. Marvelous will only do this when his weapons have built up some energy from fighting, only when he's transformed into GokaiRed and only when it's dramatically appropriate. He can only use it once per fight. EQUIPMENT: -Mobilates (Communicator - 200 OM) A functioning cell phone as well as the transformation device that interfaces with the Ranger Keys to allow Marvelous to transform into GokaiRed or other Legendary Sentai. Note: as a roleplaying weakness, when not transformed into his sentai battle form, Marvelous is at -1 STR and TEC. He must henshin to go to to toe with other Primes. If all my expenditures are approved I have 0 OM left. My hope is to tell the story of Marvelous finding the Ranger Keys, unlocking forms based on different Sentai Red Rangers and maybe dealing with the other members of his supporting cast in new lives in the Omniverse. I was indeed the last Marvelous to apply, I just honestly thought this was a totally different community. Comparing my old app and the new one I think this version is more modest and easier to model. I don't have all the Ranger Keys and just want to find them in game and pay for my Gokai Changes instead of trying to jam them in with my starting points and making them worthless.
