It was a long trek through a harsh and empty landscape. Despite his mammoth reserves of energy in his world, he found flying over the white and pulsing earth to be disproportionately draining. His anger only burned brightly for so long, and soon the fatigue of fast, sustained flight consumed it. Orion's boots hit the ground, aura breaking into dissolving crystals of light, and started walking. Why he moved he didn't know. For all he could see, the void stretched out for an eternity with no other object or landmark to demarcate distances. But he couldn't just sit still. That wasn't his style. Besides, while he was no stranger to spilling blood, staring at a skull fountain gushing with it wasn't his idea of relaxation.
And standing still led back to ... fresh memories.
In the distance, Orion spotted something rising out of the bland horizon. He headed towards it and soon found a strange stone arch set alone without a building nearby. Its edges were coarse and crumbled, like it had stood for eons and endured a weather system that no longer persevered. Within the arch shimmered a purplish mass of light. Orion had never dealt with one directly, but his instincts told him this was a portal. A way to pass out of the glowing eyesore and into another realm.
Portals were almost always products of magic. Magic made him nervous. Saiyans didn't deal in it, and the few races he had encountered in his life that did were quite formidable and unpredictable. Ki and sorcery worked on separate levels; a ki blast wouldn't necessarily stop a bolt of arcane power in its tracks, nor could magic fireballs be doused with water.
Orion pushed his hand through the portal tentatively, half expecting his glove to sizzle and sear. It didn't. Instead, the purple sheen rippled like a lake, his hand completely submerged in the portal. While he didn't know what was on the other side, it was better than an empty void. Steeling himself, the saiyan warrior walked through.
Sunlight pierced his eye, blinding him. He didn't think that could have been possible after his hours long journey in a burning white dimension, but the sun caught him off guard. As he blinked away the bruise coloured blemish in his vision, he felt a warm breeze roll over his skin. A wide, grassy plain sprawled out before him, an odd tree bursting from the landscape to break up the monotony. The fresh air carried hints of rain; indeed, grey clouds congregated overhead.
A dirt path beaten into the sparse grass wound off into the distance. With no other direction in mind, Orion followed it.
After a few minutes walking, Orion noted the scent of smoke and something wonderful cooking. He looked around and spotted a campsite a short walk off the track. Three tents crowded around a burning fire, and three fat logs provided makeshift seats for three men staring intently into the crackling flames. Clothes and supplies were piled without regard behind one of the tents, along with a handful of knives, spears and bows. A skinned carcass of some description roasted over the fire.
Orion's stomach grumbled at the welcome aroma of cooking meat. He had forgotten how hungry he was. Maybe those angry looking fellows would share their meal?
Fat chance.
Before Orion had a chance to say something, one of the campers caught sight of the saiyan and stood up. He was skinny but lined with lean muscle. A good runner, no doubt. "Hey! Look guys! He looks rich!"
A similarly built man peered over the savannah, placing his fingers against his forehead to block out the sun's harsh glow. Despite the clouds, a gap had formed about the sun perfectly. A bandage hugged his right forearm. "Yeah. Look at that robe. That's not something you buy for small coin."
The third man, after his own appraisal of Orion, hopped off his log and grabbed a spear. "Told you we'd find some clown on the trail if we waited long enough." He threw the spear to the bandaged man, slung a quiver of arrows over his back and hoisted up the bow. "Heh, I always wanted my very own eyepatch!"
"Just try not to damage the robe," the lean man said, ripping a set of machetes from their sheaths hanging on his belt. "Or get blood on it. It costs too much to get it out."
Orion humphed. Three on one wasn't great odds, but he was an elite saiyan warrior. Sometimes three armies didn't pose enough of a threat to him. Of course, on other occasions, a single warrior could prove to be a challenge. Orion tried to scan them and get an idea of their strength, but every time he queried his NOVA unit, a sharp sting penetrated his skull. Must be on the fritz again.
Unable to procure an approximation of the campers' power levels, Orion had to play it safe. However, there were always other, less direct methods of exposing an opponent's confidence.
Orion focused on his ki coursing through his body and thrust it into his centre. What were once subtle, calm rivers of energy were whipped into raging torrents, crashing and flooding into his core. A gentle gust of wind tussled his hair and robe, a portend of things to come; a second later, a navy blue aura exploded to life around Orion's body. Jagged edges of light pulsed around his form, uniting in a single spike at the top of the aura, acting like a blazing blue fire.
He looked up. His foes had taken a step back, weapons held in position for battle. The archer clutched the feathers of an arrow, though it sat slack in the string. They hadn't expected Orion's showcase of power. Good. At least they weren't overly familiar with ki manipulation.
"I'll tell you what. You men look like simple but honourable hunters. What say you gift your roast dinner to a famished traveller? I'm certain you could find another creature to fill your bellies, but alas, I do not have the skill to hunt. Also, I wouldn't have to kill you." Orion's stern countenance did not twitch as he stared the hunters down.
The archer pulled his bow taut, the arrowhead glistening in the sun. "That's our food. Just stand still and we'll make this happen as fast as possible."
The rage that Orion barely suppressed earlier bubbled in his gut. The heat rose through his chest and kneaded the back of his skull, irritating and frustrating. He clenched his fists, aura still flaming up his body. He had to be careful here. Losing complete control would put him in a worse position than when he first arrived.
But there was no reason why he couldn't drip feed his fury, spicing up his mood just enough to add an edge to this imminent fight.
He resisted at first, but a line crawled out of the recesses of his mind and forced its way to his tongue. He thought he was done with such frivolities. Omni, however, proved that one's life could change in an instant. For now, only his saiyan past would keep him together.
"Tell me," he uttered icily, "have any of you ever fought an elite saiyan warrior before?"

Quote:Continued from [S] Jade: Enter more casually!
The glare of the Nexus fades. Reeling, teeth-chattering cold replaces it.
This isn’t just your average, everyday ‘freeze your tits off’ cold. This is a ‘kiss all of your worldly, fleshy appendages good-freaking-bye’ cold.
All around are snowy wilds covered in a healthy sheen of softly-twinkling flakes, almost akin to the breast feathers of a ring-necked turtle dove in their downy-white pallor marked with gusty grey. Jade touches down with a scurrying of her red-slippered feet and much needless fretting of her arms, landing messily in a snowdrift. Flurries of powdery white fly in all directions from her point of entry.
With a huff, the girl shakes her head to clear it of any wayward flakes or icy dregs, the tips of her fuzzy ears, nose and cheeks already beginning to turn a wind-burnt, gaily rosy red. This only succeeds in sending bothersome frozen droplets into her eyes, where they stick fast to her eyelashes.
Jade grumbles, and removes her glasses so that she can rub furiously at her irritated eyes. Upon returning them to her face, she pauses, considers, and then stuffs the shades into the front of her shirt. Feeling quite pleased with herself for getting rid of a very immediate issue, Jade then pushes her regular, round glasses onto her cherry-tinted nose. She blinks owlishly at the surrounding expanse of ice-stippled ground.
Fiercely windswept slopes taper off into the snow-blurred horizon. The moaning of the wind is prominent and nearly deafening; it assails her limbs with chilling cold, striking right down to the bone. There is a terrible sifting and grinding noise that marks the blizzard’s advancement.
It does not escape her notice that it was barely three years ago that she had seen snow for the first time in her life. She should be sick of it by now, what with all of the sorrowful, blood-speckled memories it holds for her, but she finds that her arrival in this frozen land feels much like a homecoming of sorts. Like it was meant to be.
But goodness, is it cold! Her breath fogs up around her face, looking much like a dragon’s smoky puff. Jade titters lightly at that mental image; her, a dragon! Preposterous! Her lips chafe as they pull into a dewy smile, and she makes a disgruntled face at the smarting, needlepoint sting.
Bundling the twin hoods of her god-tier outfit in her hands, Jade ties them around her mouth and chin, leaving her nose exposed to the worst of the elements. She snuffles softly, only shortly thereafter, her nose already dripping a tad, and quickly moves to cover that, too. It would stink to have icicles hanging off her schnoz, anyways!
Thousands of delicate, tiny flakes are already beginning to pepper the fabric of her dress, sinking into the material and leaving wet droplets in their wake. Jade frowns at this, but resolves to ignore it in favor of the expedition. This sure beats frog hunting and breeding! Or, at least, she hasn’t exactly been tasked with a mission that will determine the fate of the universe, yet. That’s an entire world of progress in her book.
Setting off at a brisk walking pace, Jade clasps her arms to her chest, glad for her outfit of choice. The breeze whistles and howls, nipping at her exposed fingers with particular venom. Her eyes redden at the corners and water; the crystal of her glasses fogs up around the edges, causing nigh-invisibility in her peripheral vision. She considers conjuring up woolly mittens with Omnilium, but that might be wasteful. Jade thinks herself to be a rather quick-fingered, thrifty individual for having this kind of foresight.
Five minutes later sees Jade mumbling “Fuck it,” to herself, and going stock-still so that she can call up some goddamn mittens. A malleable, sure-as-day sphere appears, glowing with all the colors of the rainbow and then some, and Jade wills it to produce the softest, loveliest mittens in the entire universe, preferably without any jangling bells or itchy price-tags.
There are a pair of mittens in her tingly-numb hands soon enough, although it regrettably takes a few minutes for them to fully appear. They certainly feel soft, but that might just be Jade’s current lack of feeling in her fingers and joints. As for the lovely part, they are a pleasant yellow color that reminds Jade of sunny days and a dollop of half-melted butter setting atop a stack of warm, syrupy-sweet pancakes.
She doesn’t hesitate to pull them over her fingers, sighing as the fabric cups around her knuckles and warmth gradually begins to pool in her palms. With a tranquil smile spreading across her face, Jade takes another step, intending to continue her arduous trek.
Unexpectedly, the ground sways and dips beneath her feet, and Jade finds herself thrown off-kilter as the slab of ice she had just stepped on sinks low into the ground. With a startled shout, she hops over to the side, sliding gratingly against the icy ground and sending tinkling bits of it skittering off.
She watches, overwhelmingly startled, as the ice plops back down again with a watery splutter. For a moment, she simply stares at it, trembling against the cold. Her brow furrows accusingly at the jagged cracks surrounding the wedge, and she wonders just how she could have missed something so obvious. It must be this new universe messing with her brain. Or something.
Nevertheless, as she is shaken by the narrowly-avoided trip beneath the surface of a freezing lake, Jade is sure to be careful of where she places her feet from then on.
The cold is unstoppable; it reigns supreme over this land, an icy maw filled with glacial fangs bearing down hard on any outsiders. Jade is somewhat accustomed to this sort of weather, but that doesn’t make it any easier. She is sure that, if she had been any less prepared, death would have been certain. It is not a comforting thought.
As she walks on, feet sinking deeper and deeper into the bone-chilling snow with each step, Jade tries to keep her mind on other things besides the abysmal temperature and her numb toes. For instance, the time when she messaged Rose, Dave, and John from her island’s beach, comfortable in the sun and with the foamy white waves lapping gently at her toes; one of the days where she was planting pumpkins, earthy soil clinging just about everywhere and Bec snuffling in the brush beside; or even being set aflame, the blinding blaze of the Green Sun cleaving through her very being and creating her anew.
Jade grimaces and decides to think about something else to pass the time. Maybe her place in this new universe? She wouldn’t die here— would she? That would be just plain inconsiderate. Why would she be allowed to venture to this place, if only to perish from the cold?
Then again, SBURB wasn’t so kind to ensure her continued life. Death was practically a necessity from the beginning, and it was the only way to grow stronger; whether it be through slaying imps or dying on a Quest Bed. She wouldn’t be surprised if this universe were the very same, although it would be a real downer.
She should really locate a weapon at some point. Maybe there are trees here, the tall thin trunks of firs or pines peeking out somewhere amongst all this ice-covered despondency, and she can fashion something together out of a branch? That would be one shoddy weapon, nothing more than a big, spindly stick, but she thinks she remembers a saying of Theodore Roosevelt’s about a big stick that was mad inspiring. If only she could remember it, now.
Perhaps, if given enough time and resources, she can even establish a homestead for herself somewhere. She doesn’t know where she might go about doing that, especially in an inhospitable place such as this, but Jade feels a strange sense of rightness just thinking about it. Based upon how following her gut instinct in the past has gone, she can only assume that this will be a Good, even Stellar, Choice.
Gosh, it feels like she has been walking for an eternity. Although this extended amount of time to contemplate her existence is sublime, it would be great to happen across a warm hearth at some point.
That is not to say Jade feels any sureness in stumbling across such a fortuitous thing. She imagines that there aren’t many people living here, but she does see a certain appeal in the relentless onslaught of the snowstorm. Namely, the weather would likely discourage any ill-intentioned crooks from coming after her. That’s always a plus.
Suddenly, an ear-splitting wail cuts through the regular whooshing and whirling of the gales around her, almost indiscernible from the speech of the wind itself. Jade immediately draws to a halt, looking frantically about for the source of the sound, green eyes wide and glasses tossed askew in her alarm. She balls her hands into fists at her sides and braces herself for an attack.
Nothing is forthcoming from the swirling grey mass surrounding her on all sides; no heavy footsteps nor blizzard-distorted threats, no matter how hard she strains her ears to listen for any traces of trouble.
She had expected to have to wallop some basic ground enemies into the dirt, but that certainly had not sounded anything at all like a scurrilous little imp. It had almost sounded like… well, her friends would probably think she was ridiculous for even considering this, but it has almost sounded like how she would imagine an Abominable Snowman would roar.
“Please don’t be an Abominable Snowman. Please don’t be an Abominable Snowman. Please, please, please don’t be an Abominable Snowman,” Jade chants under her breath, starting up a petrified mantra under her breath as she carries on walking. “Or a Yeti. I mean, any gargantuan primate, really. Please.”
The snow crunches and bunches below her, steadily growing more and more substantial— less liable to shift out from underneath her feet, anyways. She finds herself feeling more confident about where she treads, taking longer and more decisive strides, and starts to pay more attention to what is in the distance rather than what dangers might be prowling right around her.
Rising up and out of the pale gloaming ahead is the barest hint of a silhouette, composed of nothing but sketchy clumps and dim shadows. As Jade begins to draw nearer, however, she notes the jagged rocky outcroppings, like the back of a monstrous, barnacle-bellied beast that might dwell at the bottom of the ocean, as well as the faintest lines of collected vapors swirling around their snow-speckled tops.
She realizes, then, that she is looking at a chain of mountains, and pulsating, throat-coiling awe swells in her breast.
“Oh,” the girl says, very small and very insignificant in comparison to the immense shapes looming in the distance, nothing but a black speck standing on a plain of frost and snow. “That is so cool.”
Beneath the coalition of veiled obscurity and clouds, Jade can just barely see the hints of other natural formations. Gigantic boulders, likely stirred from their places higher up in the mountain passes by glacial movement, are the most obvious and easy to recognize. She can also see a few smaller hints of rock or stone, flickering in and out of view like dust shining in a ray of sunlight.
The emotion Jade is feeling is… nothing short of triumphant. Here she is, the wind kissing her cheeks and a delightful realm of possibilities splayed out before her. Shall she mount an expedition and spend her days excavating dank frozen caverns and searching for new puzzling conundrums to solve? Or shall she simply settle down and live out the rest of her days in the shadow of the mountain, living with the anxiety of a damaging avalanche? Perhaps neither, or even both?
The winds clamor all around. Whatever the case, the only thing left to do now is to take the first step.
A determined grin tugging at her lips, Jade does so.

Jade Harley’s eyes open to an arrestingly bright light, which feels as if it might very well be burning out her corneas.
She squeezes them shut again before they have barely opened a sliver, without delay pressing her palms against her eye sockets as infra-black stars cycle all throughout her vision. Sharp cracks of pain vacillate about the inside of her skull like colossal satellites in an excruciatingly purplish-red space skirmish— white-hot lasers, fizzing firecracker-smoke and all— lending to a truly terrible migraine.
“Ow! I’m not feeling too hot, gosh.”
Being on that dim Prospitian battleship for so long with nothing but the empty void of space to look at must have done something to compromise her vision! Sort of like staying inside all day and then finally emerging into the sunlight— although, Jade wouldn’t have that much experience with that, for she trekked outdoors every day to explore the jungle on her island!
She can still remember the cool shade under the emerald green trees, her ankles brushing against the long strands of dew-dripped grass in the pinkish haze of the morning hours, the feel of an ocean breeze rustling through her hair and a salty prickling on her red-tinged cheeks. Yes, the only knowledge she would have about staying inside all day would be from one of her friends on the mainland, like Joh—
Wait, who was she thinking about, again? Suddenly, it seems a lot harder to remember where she is and what she is supposed to be doing. How terribly unfortunate.
Her face scrunches up in thought, green eyes still tightly closed. It’s a sort of comical sight: just some random flighty broad with striped socks and ruby red slippers splayed out on the ground, looking as if she is concentrating to an almost painful degree.
Jade rolls heavily over onto her side, mussing a hand through her hair as she thinks, idly scratching behind one of her white doggy ears while deep in thought. Now, where is she...? Oh, right! She recalls, now. She had been on her golden ship, yes, she remembers that much; and then… then, things aren’t as crystal clear.
She does, however, recollect a one-sided conversation with a being all too similar to the White Text Asshole for her liking. Although, he hadn’t spoken so much in annoying riddles or cryptic messages to deliberately piss her off, which was very kind of him. Actually, that Omni guy had seemed pretty straightforward and nice! She still wants to kick him in the shins for dropping her here without so much as a proper warning first, but only a little bit, because she’s so thankful.
The Witch of Space scrabbles blindly around her with one hand, searching for something, anything to rid herself of this dazzlingly bright obstacle that is keeping her from taking a proper look around. This lasts for a number of minutes as Jade contemplates just what she would like to have to cover her face with, trying to visualize an exact item down to the very last detail. Maybe a cloth, or a handful of leaves, a scarf or a bandana or some miraculous shades—
A multitude of alternating colors— a rainbow of irregular tones and shimmering, globular energy— prick at the edges of her vision, fluid and rolling behind the shutter of eyelashes she squints through. Jade pauses in her floundering until the light show fades, focusing intently on the coursing essence. After a moment of hesitation, she wriggles her fingers in the general direction of the where the wavering lights once were.
To Jade’s surprise, her hands graze over a plastic object about the size of a twig, made up of synthetic-smooth pieces that clink together and which is definitely super-duper mysterious in origin. Jade laces her fingers around it, scrunching her brows but daring to open her eyes by a hairsbreadth.
Her face immediately lights up at what she finds.
“Sunglasses? Nice!”
They look just like Dave’s, impressively-large tinted lenses that would balance well only when pushed flat against the space between her eyebrows. Some real suave-looking aviator shades. Jade falls in love instantly, and gleefully jams them onto her face, albeit a bit clumsily, because she’s already wearing her round-lensed glasses. This must be that Omnilium stuff that faceless guy was talking about! Neat!
With her fresh cool kid shades in place, Jade takes a moment to look around. Her mouth promptly plops open in surprise, for there isn’t much to be seen but a blank white nothingness through the protective, tinted sheen of the glasses. Well, okay, maybe not – she thinks she can spy a wavering horizon line, and about eight odd shapes in the distance. There are no grassy lawns or glades in sight, nor is there any sort of moonrise or sunset apparent. Every inch of this flat land is starkly illuminated by some unseen light source.
This Omni guy sure has a knack for creating nonsensical places, Jade reflects. But, then again, as a wonderful storyteller once wrote, “A little nonsense, now and then, is relished by the wisest men.”
Quickly scrambling to her feet, Jade notices for the first time that her sense of Space has become a tad skewed. Even when she focuses really hard, she can’t quite latch onto any of those objects in the distance, and only tiny lime green sparks skitter across her fingertips when she attempts to grab onto and lift a chunk of the ground into the air.
She can still sort of feel the particles there, fuzzy and tingling grains across her mindscape, but she highly doubts that she would be able to sense anything that were in motion, much less an attack. It will be absolutely imperative that she remain on her guard, here.
After a beat has passed, she attempts to pick her feet off of the ground and maybe drift into the sky a ways, teetering upwards and onto the balls of her feet. This also proves to be an ineffectual attempt, and the only result is Jade standing on the tippy-tops of her toes and looking quite ridiculous.
“Huh. That’s no good.”
With a discouraged sigh, Jade places her hands on her hips and splays her slippers flat on the ground again. Oh well, maybe she can figure that out later. For now, she should take a look around already, gosh darnit.
Spinning on her heel, the trappings of her star-dusted dress twirling softly about her legs, Jade turns around to take in the full landscape. There is still a bunch of blank white space, empty and strangely off-putting, but something special catches Jade’s eye. A glassy elevator, one that extends ever skyward, glints harmoniously with the enigmatic brightness that encompasses all of the Nexus. Jade wonders where it might go, and if it would even be wise to approach.
She takes an abortive step towards it, pauses, and then takes a step backwards again. There’s really no sense in trying her luck now, anyways— she should scope out one of the specks in the distance, instead. Her curiosity is just begging her to do so, and Jade doesn’t have to heart to beat it back down into submission.
“But which one?” Jade asks herself, biting her lip and making her buckteeth all the more prominent. Her two pairs of glasses make a desperate attempt to leap from her face, but Jade flicks them back up onto her nose again with a toss of her head. When she looks back up, she notices that she is directly facing one of the distant points on the horizon. “Maybe that one?”
Yes, Jade decides. Definitely that one. You’ve wasted enough time fondly regarding Omni’s c̶r̶u̶s̶t̶a̶c̶e̶a̶n creation— now, you’ve gotta buck up and get a move on!
With this resolution suspended at the forefront of her mind, Jade starts off at a decent stride towards the random dot. She thinks she might be headed South, but you can’t be too certain when in a place composed mainly of negative, empty space! There isn’t even a tree to check the moss of or a sun to use for astrological reference.
Besides all that, this unanticipated expedition is strangely… freeing. Like another Game, only with less world-ending consequences and omnipotent time-traveling demons (at least, she hopes there aren’t any). Jade can only hope that this string of pleasant revelations continues! Heck, maybe she will be able to truly finish a quest, this time!
As she walks, Jade thinks back to what she had been trying to think more clearly about earlier. It is almost as if there is a concrete dam at the back of her mind, preventing a gushing, tumultuous flood of world-shattering memories from breaching her current mental sanctity. She supposes that this might be for the best, but darn if it doesn’t niggle at her with every step she takes!
Letting out a frustrated huff of air through her nose, Jade scowls down at her hands and raises them up nearer towards her face for inspection. Why does she feel as if she could do so much more? As if she could have once flared with all the fiery potency of a distant, green-tinted sun, and understood every last inch of the universe down to the very atoms that make up her fingernails? As if she had once carried a whole solar system in the palms of her hands, the curves of her dress encompassing thousands of laced, twinkling constellations of a universe long-dead and utterly, wholly, gravely doomed to fail?
Jade growls to herself and crosses her arms across her chest as she marches, looking glumly down at her trudging feet. Something vital to her very reality has been irreparably interrupted, this is true. She shouldn’t let it get her down, however— things like this happen… they happen for a reason, and even if they don’t she will make sure that this whole detour has meaning. She wouldn’t accept it otherwise.
With a new spring to her step and a purposeful quality added to her posture, Jade notes with delight that she is coming up on the indistinct shape she had originally set off for. Now, it has taken a more definite form, almost like the arch of a gateway. Jade might not be able to feel the world turn beneath her feet anymore, but she’s undeniably going places.
She draws to a halt a few uncertain metres short of it and lets her arms fall to her sides. Jade knows that she wasn’t always so prone to hesitancy, to stuttering steps and twisted breaths. She supposes that being god-tier has done this to her— made her afraid of dying for the wrong reason, or, in fact, a heroic one.
There is a moment where she envisions a mere possibility; one where she is the adversary, destroyer of worlds, pointed teeth and fingers crooked like claws, the Big Bad Wolf dripping green flame from jowls blacker than eldritch brine. Then, the daymare abruptly vanishes, and she can breathe again.
One of her snowy-white dog ears flicks to the side. Jade cants her head a touch to the left, curiosity sparkling in her eyes as she peers at the archway.
“…??”
It seems to be a portal of some sort, ringed by a frigid vein of ice and powdered with the occasional dash of pristine snow. She can’t see anything through it, however, as the contents of the gateway itself are shrouded in an impenetrable film of complete, unmitigated whiteness.
Jade raps her knuckles against one side of the doorway, just to make sure that this object is, in fact, solid. It is cool to the touch and sticks for roughly half a second to her skin before she pulls away. It is enough to chill the bone and blood underneath, and Jade rubs idly at the now-reddened patch of skin on her curled fingers.
“Okay, that’s okay, I guess. Do I just…?”
The dark-haired girl reaches out with her sense of Space, grasping for anything, anything at all, to indicate just what she is considering jumping through, but unfortunately comes back without anything definitive. She tries again, only this time by sticking a hand through, but with returns that are much the same when she withdraws. Bitter, numbing cold clings to her fingers.
Her god-tier pajamas should be warm enough to protect her, Jade considers. The outfit is surprisingly resilient to most things, after all, and if she can survive an explosive blast of shaving cream, by golly she can handle a little cold spell.
She stalwartly ignores the fact that said shaving cream actually succeeding in killing her before she ascended to the god-tiers.
Taking a step back, Jade critically regards the portal, chin lifted high in the air. Then, without much further aplomb, she leaps through before she can think too hard on the matter or psyche herself out of it.

So, I was brainstorming last night, trying to find my way around here again and I came up with something I felt worthy enough to share with the community! So here's the idea:
Each player made alliance such as New Babylon or L.A.W. would start at level one and through stories produced through the faction would earn the alliance OM, just like an individual. OM would be awarded to an alliance the same way the Bonus Request thread is done. Once you have completed a faction based thread, someone in your party would then submit to the bonus request thread for not only the bonus of multiple player interaction, but also for an alliance OM reward. Staff would then grade the thread, the same way they do for the Bonus Request.
Why, you ask? To unlock cool shit for your alliance of course!
Like what, you ask? How about Alliance quests that offer real rewards?!
(These numbers aren't set in stone, just examples!)
At Level one, a faction would basically be approved to offer 25 om as a quest reward. The alliance could offer as many quests as they want and once completed anyone of those quests could offer up to 25 om reward.
At level two, the faction unlocks higher rewards for the quest the make, lets say 50 om. So and and so fourth for each level they unlock, allowing the alliance to offer higher om rewards for the quests their members complete.
And finally, at some point a level unlock would be a faction quest reward that offers an essence of Omni. Essence of Omni, for those that don't know, is basically you creating your own artifact. In this case the factions leaders would create the artifact and their members would quest to obtain it for the alliance. I would put this as a really high faction level to unlock.
The alliance OM or xp rewarded for each thread the alliance completes would be up to staff, but I would say a formula that matches up with the individual character progression, only multiplying the number to take into account that multiple people work towards obtaining these levels, would probably be best. Maybe the same as the individual progression levels, only times 5? (Average number of members for a faction?)
And lastly, with Factions having their own OM count, this could open the door for items that are only purchasable through a faction. Faction only items you spend your alliance OM for.
I think that is the jist of this idea, I like it and would love to see it implemented. Please, discuss!

As opposed to clogging the poor Quick Questions chat, I'm putting this here:
Toori Aoi Wrote:Dark Link Wrote:I will also add this. While it costs OM to move your HQ from one verse to another, there is technically nothing preventing you from relocating your base within the same verse if you desire. So if you wanted to, you could roleplay starting off as a small business in the lower Tiers, only to gradually move up as your business grows until you have a needlessly shiny Tier 1 skyscraper of your very own. Hmm... really? Interesting.
So going by that logic; would it be possible to have a mobile base (though obviously it would still have to be too large to fit through a portal, so would need to be relocated to another verse via the usual method)? And if so, what limitations would there be on that kind of thing? Would it be restricted to something lame like a camper van, or could you have an epic, gigantic airship for a base?
Proto Man Wrote:http://omniverse-rpg.com/viewtopic.php?f...ins#p38375
^ From four pages ago. That may work for gold coins (though even then, I'm not too sure), since gold is fairly valuable regardless of whether it's shaped like a disk or not; but modern-day or sci-fi currencies generally contain little-to-no precious metals (and that's before you even consider paper & plastic payments); those could be produced so effortlessly that actually trying to spend them would be much like trying to use Hyper-Inflated Currency. It just wouldn't work. At all.
One little ball of Raw Omnillium the size of a pebble might be just as valuable as a whole armful of paper notes, for example.
Modern currency is valuable solely because it is limited. That's why governments and bankers go to so much effort to prevent their notes from being easily forge-able. In the Omniverse, however, doing something like that is completely and utterly impossible, and as Nealaphh pointed out in his Monotruth (which, to the best of my knowledge is accurate... in this respect, at least); an object's value in Omnillium is determined solely by the value of its components as raw elements (i.e. the same amount of gold will always be valued the same, regardless of whose face is printed upon it); meaning that people can't just make their currencies more valuable by arbitrarily assigning values to them. Making a $100 note would be little (if at all) more demanding than making a $1 dollar note, for instance.
Plus, since Secondaries can't extract things themselves, not only would they have to pay a Prime to summon objects for them, but they'd also need to pay them to extract the OM in the first place... in somewhere like Minas Tirith, where they presumably have a lot of merchants/markets all over the place, selling all manner of goods, it might be easy enough to get away with spending gold, but in any place where resources are scarce, I honestly can't imagine that using anything other than OM would really be viable, since Primes would just be able to take advantage of the economy far too easily.
You're an admin, of course, so you're free to overrule Dark Link if you want... but if you actually think about it, what he said make a lot of sense, so I for one hope that you won't.
Sorry if my argument comes across as rude or anything, Proto, I really don't mean it that way. I just happen to take economics a little too seriously. Thaal Sinestro Wrote:The fact is that ANY form of currency is only worth the Omnilium you put into it, so all that precious/not precious stuff doesn't matter. The only currency in the world is omnilium, and the different verses accept different forms of easily carried omnilium. There are no rules as to how much omnilium takes up how much space, so a currency with a 100 on it could very well be worth more than a currency with 10 on it.
Primes will eventually be the ones to convert the currency back into OM, but having a standardized or at least SEMI standardized system for currency would allow merchants to base their currency off of SOMETHING. Like, what the fuck did peasants do with gold? They gave it to people who did stuff with it in exchange for other goods. That's how money works.
Additionally, because OM only TRULY exists within the control of Primes, it has to be formed into SOMETHING in order to be GIVEN to a Secondary. If you make the physical form of OM a shimmering sphere of whateverthefuck, COOL, but that's not an inherently more "pure" form of OM, and it seems a hell of a lot harder to carry and count.
Also, a lot of motherfuckers are stupid. A shiny gold coin is probably a lot more alluring to a medieval peasant than some weird glowing glob of who the hell knows what. Toori Aoi Wrote:@Thaal; I had a huge comment typed out to reply to you, attempting to refute what you'd said... but then I remembered the Shrink power.
It doesn't weaken people, so they must still have the same "value", despite being tiny. Logically, then, this principle ought to be able to apply to inanimate objects as well. In other words - you're right, and I was completely mistaken, in that regard.
Since OM can be compressed, it would be possible to differentiate between notes and coins. That's an awesome point, so thanks for making it.
Do you really think that everyone would accept everyone else's currency here, though? Because if not then OM still trumps everything, regardless of whether or not people like the look of Omni's Balls. Just think; if you strolled into Camelot and tried to spend Imperial Credits, would that go down well with the locals? Even if it wasn't illegal to use the currency of a nation at war with theirs (and it might well be), it'd be certainly enough to get you looked at with suspicion.
That may not pose much of a problem to Primes, who can just spend a few minutes extracting and reformatting their currency... but Secondaries would be left at the mercy of money changers and unscrupulous Primes, who could charge whatever rates they wanted for money-changing services, knowing full well that the secondary might not even be able to buy food without their help.
It just doesn't seem convenient.
Of course, taking into account the point you raised about imbuing, things just become even worse. In fact, it's shocking that the Secondaries have any sort of functioning economy at all. Think about it; Primes may have ways of sensing the amount of OM, roughly, at least, within something (I don't know if they can actually do this, but it wouldn't surprise me if they could... even if it had to be purchased as a move, it's probably theoretically possible, at least), but Secondaries sure as hell don't - Primes could just hand them a coin and claim that it was worth ten times what it actually was!
The rich might have had Primes develop devices for them capable of testing things like that, but the average commoner most certainly wouldn't.
Honestly, in a scenario like this, anything other than just trading goods directly doesn't really seem viable to me. I no longer have any idea how anything in this reality could function as a currency. The only way to get things done would seem to be to bring your goods directly to a trustworthy Prime and have them transformed into whatever you needed... or whatever someone else wanted in exchange for doing some work for you - basically, a magically-enhanced barter system.
What do you think? Can you see any way out of this, or is it just a fact that Primes are free to scam Secondaries every time they make any sort of transaction at all? I think the vast number of the points you bring up are actually sort of reinforcing the concept of a standardized currency. The Empire sure as hell doesn't want people trading with Camelot and visa versa, so having forms of currency which are NOT accepted is actually advantageous to the powers that be in this situation.
Also, having a MORE trusted system of standardized currency for the Secondaries would give them a BETTER idea that they are getting what they are asking for, as opposed to not. Sure, barter is probably preferred in a lot of cases, but the reason we moved from barter to currency in almost every culture ever is that it's a pain in the ass to haul a bunch of chickens and bread around when you want to get a pint at the pub. It's not convenient and it's not quick. It's also much more difficult to determine value. Is it worth two chickens? Is it worth... a fucking landspeeder or whatever?
So, I mean yeah, Primes could probably make some pretty convincing counterfeits (that is if Secondaries can't determine the OM value of items by handling them, or that there isn't some unmistakable way to verify how much it is), but the alternatives are just untenable.
Also, let's remember the actual Rules post about Omnilium:
Actual Omniverse God Wrote:It has been theorised that omnilium represents value itself. It can take many forms. When held by a Prime, it absorbs into their being and becomes a kind of essence that cannot be given or stolen, only used. It can take many physical forms, but the default is a kind of malleable sphere that can be split or combined at will, instantly reconfiguring itself to the same shape, size and weight but changing in 'density' depending on how much actual omnilium the orb represents. While anyone can split and recombine omnilium, secondaries cannot hold it within themselves as Primes can.
The only "true" form of OM is within the body of a Prime. Anything else is just a Prime's summoned representation of OM. Even a shiny sphere of whatever the shit isn't even the "true" form of OM, because OM is just a representation of "value." If a Secondary can't inherently determine the OM value of an object, then trading with shiny stuff wouldn't really work either, because something being the same size, shape, weight, etc but being of a variable visual density is a really hard thing to count beans with.
Even the most standard of visual representations are meaningless to people who can't absorb the shit, so having a standardized currency that is usually of the same value would be very useful for people, even if it could be counterfeited.

Cole walked through the portal into the city of Coruscant. From the entrance where he was standing, he could look around and see a large, impressive looking futuristic city and found himself at a security checkpoint.
Didn’t I just have to talk to a couple of guards before coming in here? Is this a city or an airport? Cole thought.
Cole looked out at the city and saw an impressive looking futuristic city with advanced technology everywhere. There were even flying cars in the air. Turning his attention back to the checkpoint in front of him, he saw some guards wearing the same armor as the ones in front of the gate approaching him.
“Are you the Prime?“ one of the guards asked.
“The what?” Cole asked.
“Did you wake up by the fountain on the other side of that gate?” the same guard asked pointing behind Cole back at the gate.
“If that’s what it means, then yeah,” Cole answered.
“Go ahead to the security scanners. You can hold onto your possessions for the moment, but if there are any signs you are allied with opposing factions to the Empire, they will be confiscated and you will b detained.” the guard stated.
Cole to what looked like a larger version of the metal detectors at an airport. Though considering they let him keep all his equipment, he wasn’t sure what they would be scanning for. As soon as he stepped into the machine, it activated. A red scanning laser shone up and down his body before turning back off.
“You’re clear, move along” another guard said. Cole walked out the other side as the guard let him pass and he walked into the city.
As he walked down the streets, one of the first things on his mind was finding out more about just where he ended up. Up ahead, he saw what looked like a computer set up on the sidewalk. He remembered one of the guards in front of the gate talking about public Dataverse terminals. Maybe that was what they called the Internet here. Going over to it, he intended to look up what he could about his new environment. The Omniverse, omnilium, what a Prime was, maybe some info about the city he was in.

Casey really didn't get to do much sight seeing as he was forced through the gate and into this strange new city. Where ever this was it sure as hell wasn't New York, too clean. Even the air smelled wrong here! Another thing that bothered Casey was that there were a lot of these trooper guys everywhere. It was strange to him since the only time you saw a cop in NYC was when you passed a coffee shop, or where trying to do their job for them. The really didn't like it when you did their jobs better then they did, as Casey found out numerous times. There were a lot of people here too, and they all seemed to be going every which way like they all had something very important to do. People of every shape, size, and race. Wait, maybe even species?
What the hell was that?! I am pretty sure that wasn't a person. If the fact that everyone wasn't human wasn't enough to boggle his poor human mind then their clothing really did it for him. It was like a sci fi movie come to life! All the weirdness wasn't enough for him to not notice how pretty it was here, though. He got lost in the thought of walking these streets with April and Shadow in tow when a high pitch whine made him look up. What could only be described as a really small space ship was landing right in front of them.
As soon as it touched down he was shuffled off at a march into the thing, he could only guess that it was some sort of car, and then driven to god only knows where. The windows were dark and he could barely see out of it but what he saw had him in awe. The buildings were so tall, taller then anything in New York that is for sure! Was that a park they just passed? It was so green! They were probably in the air for maybe 15 minutes though so he didn't get that much of a look around. The car set down again on an out cropping of one of the skyscrapers and he was forced out and into the building. He was brought into an elevator, guard on each side, and then shuffled out again into a white, sterile looking hallway. After a few more minutes of walking he was brought into a room.
The first thing Casey noticed about the room was that it was pretty plain. It seemed to have no windows and a only a table with two chairs in the centre. The air in it was sterile though, it had almost no smell. It was almost as if it had been processed, re processed, and THEN pumped back into the room. Then a chair caught Casey's eye, it was welded to the floor apparently, and he only really noticed that because it also had arm and leg restraints. The rest of it was just smooth and shiny with little lines that seemed to be laser carved into the wall or something, again giving him that sci fi feel to it.
This was not going to be fun.
As expected this chair was meant for Casey. They sat him in it and secured the leg clamps before removing the cuffs and restraining his arms. Well one of them did while the other stood guard with a gun pointed straight at Casey. Apparently they didn't want him to fight back or even have the chance to escape.
Whoever these guys were, they were freaking smart.
After he was secured in his chair they just left, the door sliding closed behind them. Casey was still surprised by that, all these doors sliding without door handles, things floating and what not. With everything he saw on the ride here though he shouldn't really have been surprised. Hell, for all he knew they planned on beaming him to some asteroid or something next! That would suck.
He quickly pushed all these thoughts aside as the door slid open again and a man wearing all black with blue and red squares on his chest walked in holding something Casey just assumed was for taking notes.
”Name?” Wow, this guy was really talkitive! Plus his breath wasn't all that pleasant either. It wasn't bad, like make you vomit bad, but it sure as hell wasn't minty fresh. Don't they have tooth brushes in this future world? Casey noticed the man was standing there just staring at him, so he should probably answer.
“Casey. Casey Jones.” The man worked the device he was holding and then looked up at Casey.
”Do you know why you are here Mister Jones?” The man pushed something on the thing again and set it down on the table before crossing his arms waiting again for a response. At least the questions he was asking weren't tough ones.
“Because I was kidnapped from my family by some creepy grinning freakazoid and transported to a vast white nothingness where I was acting like an idiot and got my ass handed to me by two clowns in white and black costumes?”
The man in the uniform just stared at Casey for a bit then shook his head a bit, like you would at a small child, while tapping a finger against his arm.
“Assaulting a civilian, Assaulting an Imperial trooper, resisting arrest, I could even throw on disturbing the peace and various other chargers if I wanted to. We take these things very seriously on Coruscant.” Casey thought about this for a moment and then realized something. He wasn't actually in this Coruscant place when all that happened!
“Wait, didn't this all happen in the white place and not here? Also that punk was a damn thief! He had it comin' anyway! He will think twice before robbing someone else!” The man in the black uniform actually laughed at this, did he just wipe a tear from his eye? Casey wasn't finding this all that funny and just scowled at him.
”Technicalities. The fact remains what you did was a direct attack against the people of the Empire, so therefor an attack on the Empire itself. Do you know what this means Mister Jones?” The man had pointed a finger at him as if it was a gun. The look he was giving Casey also told him he should probably answer sooner rather then later.
“What? The death penalty? A good talking to?” Apparently the guy didn't find Casey that funny because he pulled a pistol from his side and marched over and pressed it tight against Caseys' forehead. Casey feel the barrel there, and while these things looked like plastic they sure as hell felt like metal.
”IF I kill you do you know what happens Jones? Nothing. Oh, you will die that is for sure but later on you will come back. You are lucky enough to be a Prime.” The man sighed and put the weapon back in his holster. Casey noticed that the man was now rubbing his forehead, like he was getting a headache or something”Not everyone is that lucky.”
After taking a few steps back the man gave Casey a hard stare, one that made him a bit uncomfortable, before his interrogators features seemed to soften a bit. He didn't know what this sudden change of attitude meant, but he was probably about to find out.
”Can I trust you as a man of honour Mister Jones? If I release you from your bonds?” Casey gave the man a hard glare before nodding his head curtly. Starting a fight here and now was not going to get him anywhere, plus where would he go? This place was probably swarming with those trooper guys. The man walked over and released the leg clamps and then the arm ones before taking a step back to watch Casey, hand next to the pistol.
Casey rubbed his wrists then stood up and stretched, slowly as to not make any sudden movements. It was good to get out of that damn chair. He did a few more stretches and felt a few cracks and pops as he did. Was he getting old? Nah, he just needed to exercise more.
“What now boss?” The man motioned for Casey to follow him over to a wall behind them and then touched something next to a large square in the wall that slid away to reveal a window. Casey took a step back out of reflex. This of course made his guard grin a bit before motioning him over to the window.
”Look down there. What do you see?” Casey walked forward and peered out the window.
“Other then everything looking weird as shit, people. A lot of people and other people like things.” Then man next to him nodded and then closed the window cover again before guiding Casey back to the table. Casey sat down in his chair but noted that this time the restraints weren't used. The man in black took the chair on the opposite side of the table and faced Casey, his hands balled up and placed on the table.
”Most of those people do not have the ability to come back from the dead as you do. Some, of course, but not all of them..."” The man let his voice trail off for Casey to fill in the dots.
“So, when they die then they” Casey paused and then realized what this meant. “They stay dead.”
Casey always knew this was an option, hell back home if you died you stayed dead. Lots of people he loved had died! But here? Here it was a joke. They could die but he would keep coming back. He didn't like this, and now he liked this Omni freak even less. This was the cruelest joke of all.
”That's right Casey, they would die and that would be all.” Casey noticed the man was no longer calling him Jones, or Mister Jones. Here was the part where he asked him for something. ”As a Prime though, you could help them. Help protect them!”
So they wanted him to help, but how exactly?
“So what, I'd be a cop or something?” Casey thought about this for a bit. “I mean, I love busting in the skulls of scum bags.”
”Just think about it Casey, help us! We are powerful here, but we can't be everywhere all the time! Plus if you help us then we might be able to help you even.” The man gave Casey a look that sort of reminded him of someone trying out a sales pitch. ”Maybe even help you get back to your family?”
Ouch, he really knew where to hit a man.
“What do you need me to do?” The man smiled at Casey and held up a hand that motioned for him to wait were he was. Getting up from the chair the man in black headed towards the door.
”Stay here,” he told Casey, “I will be back very shortly!”
