So, how much is the limit to Fourth Wall breaking?
Posted by: Chloe Price - 09-08-2015, 12:37 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (3)

My coming alt has Medium Awareness, and so I want him to be as close to actually smashing through the Fourth Wall as possible within the rules, to sum it up.

So, how much can they know about being a canonical character in a webcomic that was pulled into an RPG without breaking the rules?

  Crossing Paths
Posted by: Lemmy Koopa - 09-07-2015, 02:16 PM - Forum: Camelot - Replies (13)

The night came and went for Ludwig and well the little tyke, namely Jr. Troopa, were resting inside the secondary home belonging to Abilene as she offered them a night to stay. Fortunately, it was decent enough for them, not really high-class but neither the opposite and it was peaceful enough to have a nice long rest throughout the night. However, it remained silent until later that morning when the female had awakened and fixed up breakfast for them; give or take, it was nice of her to provide her hospitality.

Time passed and the remaining two had awakened from their slumber and knowing Ludwig, he was specific on grooming himself to look his best, hair and all. After all, that was in his morning routine, but even so, it felt odd that he wasn't at the Castle. Oh well..

The younger was already in the kitchen where the food was being served, eager to eat again and being rowdy while at it, only to cause the woman to tell him to calm himself down, before Ludwig came out.

"Good morning Ludwig," she said as she noticed the blunette just as he exited out the room and he replied with,"Good morning to you as well,"

He looked over to Jr. Troopa with a disapproving glare as he asked,"Why is it that you are being so rowdy this morning? Haven't you heard of showing respect to others?"

"I'll be respectful when I want to be," replied the younger with a hint of arrogance in his tone, causing the blunette mentally sigh. This is going to be a long day..

"Don't stress yourself out there," replied the female. "After all, it's a new day, a new start, is it not?"

The blunette nodded with a smile as he came closer to the table while she was about finished with serving food and boy, did it look tasty. "Very true words and I do have to admit, your cooking is excellent judging from the food provided,"

The woman chuckled as she replied,"As long as you're happy, the thought makes it matter,"

Eventually, the three went on with their meal and soon enough, both Jr. Troopa and Ludwig exchanged their thanks and farewells to the woman who had assisted them out with their situation before leaving on their next destination.

Thankfully, they were given extra goodies along for the ride as a gift, but it was given in a little basket for Jr. Troopa to hold onto.

En route on their journey, Ludwig looked over to Jr. Troopa as he said,"You were fortunate that she was kind to us especially to someone with your ridiculous behavior. Didn't your parents teach you anything?"

Jr. Troopa looked down away from the blunette as he replied,"I've never knew my parents. I hatched in that stupid Goomba Village all alone and besides, it's not like they would care for me,"

In a sense, it did made him feel upset.

"An orphan you say? Hmph. So that explains the poor mannerisms that you carry. Atleast it's a better excuse than of my brat little brother," sighed Ludwig as the mere thought of if made him annoyed before the younger asked,"Who the heck is that?"

"Someone I don't want to take about anymore," he scowled. "Let's just..let's just get out of here before the pestering patrol squads from Camelot come our way. I don't want to come across trouble, that's all,"

Even though he didn't show it, Ludwig did feel a sort of pity for the young one being alone in a big world such as this.

  Joining as Jade Harley!
Posted by: Jade Harley - 09-07-2015, 01:19 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (7)

Character name: Jade Harley.

Character source: Homestuck (Webcomic.)

Character history: Jade Harley’s story begins with her relative isolation on a volcanic island in the Pacific Ocean. Her taxidermied grandfather (a Harley family tradition) stood in her living room and her dog Becquerel was her only companion. Her house was a very tall, sepulchral tower filled with loads of high-tech gadgetry, including transportalizers and a garden atrium. She communicated with her three friends John Egbert, Dave Strider, and Rose Lalonde over the internet, using a chat program called Pesterchum.

One day, the four friends played a video game called SBURB, which had world-altering consequences. The Game destroyed their Earth with meteors as the children entered the Game (capitalization totally intended.) Through a series of zany events and repeated time shenanigans, Jade Harley was shown to be very plucky, compassionate, and quick-witted, although a bit hot-headed and baffled by emotional outbursts. This can be attributed to her virtual seclusion for much of her life. Also, she was an excellent markswoman, so this aided her in defeating game-generated enemies.

In the game, however, it was up to Jade to help in the creation of a new universe through her frog breeding duties as a Hero of Space. Her planet, LOFAF(the Land of Frost and Frogs), was equipped with a Forge for this purpose. Her denizen Echidna spoke to Jade about moving on to a new game session as the one they are in was doomed to fail, and Jade agreed to carry all of the planets(her own and her friends’) to the new session.

She took a great deal of initiative in leading her friends through the Game, even interacting heavily with another session’s players for advice and still attempting to carry out her frog breeding mission. However, this was all for naught, and Jade was killed by a shaving cream bomb.

Before Jade died, she had created a sprite, or an entity with a ghost-like wisp of a tail that is privy to a bucket load of knowledge on the Game and their corresponding player’s mission/purpose. Her sprite, Jadesprite, was a combination of her dead dream self and her pet dog Becquerel(a First Guardian with extraordinary capabilities such as omnipotence and the ability to ‘fetch’ bullets, among other more Space-oriented powers.) This autonomous sprite proceeded to throw a massive tantrum at having been resurrected and left to go mope about the Battlefield, much to Jade’s chagrin.

During [S] Cascade, Jade Harley ascended to god-tier on the Battlefield after having been placed upon her Quest Bed by Jack Noir. She merged with Jadesprite, thus becoming part dog and gaining dog ears and Becquerel’s First Guardian omnipotence to boot. She became the Witch of Space, with the abilities of matter and spatial manipulation, teleportation, flight, and trans-universal travel capabilities.

With the knowledge fresh in her mind that she must travel across the Yellow Yard to a new game session, Jade boarded a Prospitian Battleship with John Egbert and Davesprite, whom Jadesprite had met on the Battlefield while still independent of Jade. She shrank down the planets of their session to a smaller size and broke through the Fourth Wall, hurtling the battleship across the Yellow Yard towards the new game session with her Space powers.

Shortly after the events of [S] Cascade, while Jade Harley and her ectobiological brother John Egbert are on their three-year journey across the Yellow Yard aboard the Prospitian Battleship that Jade shrank down with her Space abilities, Jade minimized down John and Davesprite so that they could visit LOWAS(the Land of Wind and Shade, John’s planet).

John’s denizen, Typheus, blew the planet up in a plume of smoke, effectively killing John and Davesprite. Jade was mostly left by herself on the ship and sank into a deep depression from lonesomeness during the remainder of her journey. In the meantime, she became skilled with all different weaponkinds of Strife Specibi. Only, that journey didn’t get a chance to finish, as Jade was suddenly plucked from her universe and placed in the Omniverse.

Upon her arrival in the Nexus, Jade’s abilities should have been tampered down quite a bit. She will essentially have to re-learn most of her god-tier abilities, or at least several approximately equivalent ones, according the the rules of the Omniverse, and as a manipulator of Space it will most likely be difficult to adjust to the new universe’s limitations.

Starting Moves:
Bang! (Ranged Proficiency and Debuff Proficiency Required) - 300 OM:
Going still where she stands, Jade squares her shoulders and raises an arm in preparation for the attack. She gazes down the length of her arm and her eyes narrow as if she is looking through the cross-hairs of a gun. Her fingers contour into a finger-gun, wild green sparks playing about them and giving off static-y sizzling sounds for five seconds; a quarter of the amount of time it takes to load a flintlock pistol. Once Jade gives the verbal signal “Bang!” a blast of green lightning traveling at the speed of a bullet will shoot out from her fingertip, her hand will recoil as if clutched around an imperceptible firearm, and the green electrical energy will give her opponent a nasty shock, ideally striking them in the chest-range(non-lethal for most). The level of nasty depends on the durability of the character on the receiving end, but the after-effects would be more along the lines of ‘light-toasted’ rather than ‘charred’, typically, and will serve to shock a foe or at the very least cause them to stagger. The shot of lightning can go perhaps a mile, but the energy will deplete the further the distance, so it would be best if used in close range (three to five paces) to stun less resilient foes for approximately ten seconds(causing muscle spasms, bone aches, intense prickling across the skin, etc.). This move would barely be able to knock a tin can off of a fence row from a mile away, and would feel like a minor shock from static electricity at that distance.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct!

(I hope this application is up to snuff! This site is very interesting and I would love to become a part of it, although I must warn you that I can be a bit long-winded.)

A Shooting Star Strikes the Nexus!
Posted by: Schwi Dola - 09-07-2015, 10:55 AM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (3)

It was not a particularly unusual night on Star Hill. The stars up above were bright as usual and the stars swirled about the hill. New stars formed on the rolling meteor hills waiting to catch a wish from some inhabitant of the Mushroom World. Silently, a star sprite floated about the un-granted wishes. It had been a long time in the human sense that ♥♪!? had acted on his true purpose, protector of Star Road. It was as it should be, mortals had no business interfering with the inner workings of the cosmos and this location was just a small part of how the Mushroom World tied into everything. However, in the greater sense such things happened very rarely so the Smithy Gang invasion was still recent, relatively speaking though many years had passed.

♥♪!? had nothing to defend against with no invaders trying to steal the power of star road for the most part so he often wandered down from Star Road to Star Hill to assist in the regular maintenance and observe more closely the mushroom kingdom. After his adventures in the world to stop Smithy he had a vested interest in some of the inhabitants that he had interacted with. Gaz in particular he watched to see where her life went. He had used her wish and her doll to defend Star Road. He was deeply appreciative of her assistance in the matter, it was young children where the strongest and purest wishes dwelled and that was part of why he was able to stop Smithy. The others that helped him also went about their lives, Mario the world wide known plumber and hero, Peach the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Mallow the cloud prince, and even King Bowser leader of the villainous Koopa Troopa.

He looked from one to another and observed what the person had wished for. Ones that were obviously granted wishes he pushed along, while others that could never be granted were cleared out to make room. This part wasn't the only step along the way, even the best of wishes could have untold effects on the world and Star Road did not grant wishes that would end poorly so each had to be analyzed further. However a wish like "I want to be rich!" was obviously ruled out for its selfish nature. The process would almost resolve itself as the good wishes tend to rise and old tend to fall, so going and doing it manually was just idle work.

♥♪!? couldn't exactly be sure when it happened but from one moment to another he was suddenly somewhere else. He was suspended in a dark void of nothingness. This was puzzling for the star sprite, how did he end up here in all places, a place shielded from the stars? It was almost like what the inside of the Void was supposed to be had the Dark Prognosticus succeeded in . Unlike the void, there was a humanoid figure contrasting the background being entirely white. The figure start to speak which is when ♥♪!? realized that he could not move or respond to it.

Quote:“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”

Omni hands you a glimmering orb in which all the colors of the rainbow coalesce. “This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.

“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.

“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”

  Law & Orker Reboot
Posted by: Minato Namikaze - 09-07-2015, 08:59 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (2)

Okay, so a long long time ago I had this Idea of writing an Omniverse TV show that would be written for the Dataverse. it was Called Law & Orker and (obviously) it was supposed to be the Omniverse version of shows like Law & Order/Bones/CSI etc (More Information Here). I hadn't even really Ironed out most of the details, I just wanted to see if people were interested in reading something like that and if anyone wanted to write for it.

I had written a few things already, and they can be found Here and Here

Since this place has changed so much since then, I decided that it was time to open up another discussion thread and see who is interested in both reading this and writing for it.

Just curious about something. In terms of kinetic powers [kinesis], would I be required to take Telekinesis and whatever 'specialized' ability? Or, could i skip telekinesis and just go straight for the specialized ability?

  Just Looking For Trouble
Posted by: Ash - 09-06-2015, 05:44 PM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (6)

Welcome to the Omniverse, this device is directly connected to the Dataverse, and requires to go through a set-up phase. Please follow the following prompts to gain proper access and operations of this device.

First Name:
Last Name:
Username:
Password:

We know you aren't a bot, because that would be ridiculous! So just hit next when you are finished.

Ash read the glowing blue text as it appeared on her blue screen, apparently having to reset everything on her Comm. The device seems to have gone through some slight changes to better adapt to the worlds she had full access to. Shock resistant, Damaged resistant, 100% water proof.. It even sleeked up a bit, compared to the bigger, blockier version it had been. It was still a small hand held device, comparable to a pen, or maybe a switch blade with how an arm flung out and then presented a hologram of a screen. She didn't have to touch this screen, but she could. The jack in her head was directly connected to this pierce of hardware, and she merely had to think about it. Well.. It was a bit more complicated than that, but if she ever needed a keyboard, she also had that.

She sighed, and started to fill out the application for a username.

First Name: Ash
Last Name: The Storm Demon
Username: StormDemon

When she got to 'Password' she paused and entered a line of code. This randomly picked her password, and hid it even from her. It was to keep from being hacked by any passing decker. Not like she had anything they'd want, with such a boring life. But she knew her information was safer when even she didn't know the password. The code acted like the password, so technically someone could steal the code.. But not before she knew someone was trying to.

When she hit next, there was a pause. Ash assumed it was checking if the Username was available. But when she got the next page, it wasn't the typical 'Username is Unavailable' error, or the obnoxious 'Thank you for choosing BlahBlahBlah.' It instantly switched over to a messenger.

Unknown: Impressive...
Unknown: Not many people here know how to do tricks like that.
Unknown: Welcome to the Omniverse indeed, Ash. I'll keep in touch.

Ash, who had been sitting boredly at the base of the Fountain of Infinity with her legs crossed, her head cradled by her hand, and tail fallen around her like some dead fabric, perked up at the messages as the popped up unusually fast only to quit just as fast. "Hm?" A noise of interest sounded quietly as she picked up her head and stood up her long pointed ears. She then curiously looked around, wondering if someone was watching her from the crowds of people around her.

Crowds of people... Like the land around her, the people were sparse. But there were groups all around. She could hear voices, but no one was paying her any attention, and she was okay with this. Except now she had no idea what so ever who sent that message.. She looked back at her Comm, the screen was back to the set up stages. Her username and password had been accepted, and now it wanted to know what kind of themes she liked and wanted her to set up for a multi-media social network. She stared at it for a moment before postponing the prompts with the 'ask me later' option and then quickly worked through some things.

Apparently the Dataverse was a real thing. Accessed by terminals, much like the Matrix was back in her universe. Oh yeah. The Omniverse... What that figure had said before she arrived here, wasn't a world she knew at all. It was easier to explain this place as a Massive Multiple Online Role Playing Game, or MMORPG for short. Except, it wasn't online, as far as she knew. She could try Jacking Out, but she couldn't recall when she ever connected..

Of course.. She didn't remember a lot.. She very clearly remembered her epic sea adventure yesterday, looking for the long lost treasure of Osa Rizuki, and being bashed around by a sea monster of massive proportions. She remembers being tossed around by the sea, and fighting to stay a float. She remembered being utterly exhausted, too tired to even throw her shoes off before falling face down into the fluffy white blankets and softest silk sheets of Captain Red Devil's bed. She remembers smelling rum, and spices, even something like vanilla, and even now just remembering the scents, she felt herself fall for the false comfort that scents created in the mind of people. (Tieflings are still people.)

She felt incredibly meta as she scrolled through the online banter of people she didn't even know. The blog of one man deemed Omni, the figure that had summoned her from her universe to this one, the bad guy. And said that they were all victims of this guy and his twisted wants to see people like them being ripped from their homes and forced to react with other beings. Her opinion of this felt.. Flat. She never really gave thought to higher beings, or other universes. She played games, watched movies, animes, and read books. All of them creating a new and exciting place for the reader to explore, but the act of contemplating of theories and realities that these actually did exist somewhere in space and time was left for people far smarter than Ash.

Well.. Maybe not smarter.. People devoted to that kind of thing, people who've spent days of their lives working on one problem at a time to explain the 4th, 5th, and even 6th dimensions. They are people who have spent their entire lives on one project and one project alone. While Ash, in her former life, couldn't even concentrate long enough to stay at one job for very long. Probably why dancing stuck with her so well.. She didn't have to think, or do something mind-numbing. She just had to twirl around a pole, work on some flashy moves or something. In reality.. Its been a long time since then. She returned there for work from time to time, but how she hasn't been fired is beyond her. With these requests and tests from Osa on a whim, she's been gone from work for days and days. Any other sane person would have fired her scrawny little tail. And with these changes.. Its not like she can just turn this off. But for some reason the owner of the joint really liked everything about her.

"Well no use in worrying about it now.." Ash said, putting her Comm away and climbing back to her feet. Every muscle throbbed.. And her stomach hurt from hunger pains. Her little swim had apparently drained her of everything. Swimming always seemed to have that effect, like osmosis happens with her stomach. "Gah.. Could use a hamburger about now." She said, bringing her hand up to her head and rubbing her head as she might even have a headache creeping in. She rubbed her temples and closed her eyes for a moment, really wanting that hamburger. When she opened her eyes to see that exactly what she had been thinking about was there at her feet. A burger and fries special from a burger stand.
