"You will be reborn."
Christa couldn't wake herself up fast enough. Her thoughts had been a medley of worry and doubt, but at this part, this assurance, finally, her stirring thoughts found something true to hitch to.
It didn't take long for the dark void she had been cast into, to fill instead with the vast and pearly room that was the Nexus. Great light flooded to her still spinning eyes and before her legs were ready, Christa swiftly rose to a stand. She wobbled, but expected it and used the fountain for support.
The fountain.
Its gargling sound caught her attention, and while her mismatched body was still putting together the 'intricate' declivities of the very flat room and deciding which direction was up, and which was down, Christa's mind remained entirely sound.
She now had the means to get exactly what she wanted. And of course, as she had proclaimed to everyone in her group, even the mighty Omni, she wanted her sister back. Was it wrong of her to desire to bring back the past? Christa no longer cared. While the impulsive leader stood taller than she ever had, she recognized her status as a Prime and it didn't change a thing, other than that her sister was the first and only thing on her mind.
Her mind reverted back to the tutorials, to the words of Primes who explained how to summon. Most of them said the same thing, "You concentrate on the object, and then, just sort of do it."
Christa held out her hand and a bubble formed at her will. Transfixed, the woman held her focus, and remembered everything and anything there was to love about her sister. The good moments, the gentle kisses on her forehead, the soft shine of her blonde hair, and the caring smile that always fixed a dimple on her left cheek, but not her right.
Even the bad things and mistakes helped to make a person, so Christa was forced to forge her sister exactly as she had been. Exactly as she could remember, the sobbing when they had been taken from their homeworld, the icky heat of sweat on Katia's forehead when she had come down with the fatal infection that had nearly killed her, and the moment their cat died after stepping too close to the ledge of their new, Coruscant, apartment.
Everything.
Finally, after some time, Christa's hand fell to her side and her eyes slowly opened to reveal her ten year old sister's gentle face made up of a pair of innocent blue eyes, freshly brushed hair, and that caring smile with an indent on her left cheek. The young girl's eyes were filled with worry for her sister and despite Katia's front tooth missing, she asked with a wispy, "What's wrong Chris?"
Tears splashed on Christa's cheeks as compassion warmed the woman's heart, which had been cold for so long. Christa's arms wrapped around her sister with the protective intent never to let go. Katia, despite her adolescence shared an understanding for one who needed to be hugged, and offered her arms willingly around her favorite sister.
The two shared the loving hug, until Katia finally pronounced, "What are we doing here, and hey, where's my birthday cake?"
Christa slowly rose, but not without a last kiss on her sister's little head and kept her eyes on the girl, as though Katia were a ghost, and would vanish from sight, never to be seen again if her eyes were to leave Katia for a second. Finally, Christa composed herself and sniffled, "Don't you worry, I'll get you a new one."
"Where's our apartment, Chris?" Katia asked, and looked around.
"I'll get us a new one of those too, only this time, better." Christa assured.
"What's going on, you're beginning to sound like that lullaby..." Katia's eyes widened, "Wait a minute... You're a Prime now! What happened?!"
The young girl was stunned into silence as she noticed a new face, a fixed set of eyes on her older sister, and Katia could only read between the lines. Christa, with much prompting from her sister's shy expression, turned to face who it was, only to find two familiar eyes staring at her. The leader wiped the joyful tears from her cheeks with an embarrassed blush, and could only smile in response to the gaze.
She was home.

Character name: Hana Song (alias D.Va)
Character source: Overwatch (Blizzard's Game)
Character history:
(Not written by myself, almost straight copy paste from Blizzard with minor edits to tenses as well as the addition of the ending.)
D.Va was a former professional gamer who now uses her skills to pilot a state-of-the-art mech in defense of her homeland.
Twenty years ago, South Korea was attacked by a colossal omnic monstrosity that rose from the depths of the East China Sea. The massive, lumbering construct caused catastrophic damage to coastal cities before it was driven back beneath the waves. In response, the South Korean government developed a mechanized armored drone unit, called MEKA, to protect urban environments in future engagements with the omnic threat.
The government's fears proved to be well founded, as a disturbing pattern of attacks emerged. Every few years, the monstrosity would rise from the sea to assault South Korea and its neighbors. The omnic learned from these encounters, often reconfiguring itself in a different form and appearing with new weapons and capabilities. Each incident ended in a stalemate, with the monstrosity defeated but not destroyed.
As the omnic continued to adapt, it eventually disrupted MEKA's drone-control networks, forcing the military to place pilots in the mechs. Scrambling to find suitable candidates, the government turned to the country's professional gamers, who possessed the necessary reflexes and instincts to operate the mechs' advanced weapons systems. Top stars were drafted, including reigning world champion Hana Song, also known as "D.Va." Famous for her elite skills, D.Va was a fierce competitor who played to win at all costs, and she had a well-earned reputation for showing no mercy to her opponents.
D.Va saw her new mission as a game, fearlessly charging into battle alongside the rest of her MEKA unit, ready to spring to her nation's defense at a moment's notice. She used to stream her combat operations to her adoring fans, and she used to have a status of a global icon due to the size of her following.
It was at this point, that the omnic attacked Korea once more, and the MEKA were deployed to combat the threat. It was after that fight, as the MEKA were celebrating their victory over the repeating threat and Hana was handing out autographs as well as interviews, that she herself, as well as the machine she piloted, vanished with a bright flash of light. After that, she hasn’t been seen or heard of by anyone.

Mech Form
ATK: 2
DEF: 4
SPD: 1
TEC: 3
The mech Hana operates. It should be said, that the mech is made from a highly durable material, however, considering it’s a mechanical construct, it has all kinds of joints, that make it possible for stronger beings to possibly tear it apart, for example ripping one of the arms off.

Pilot Form
ATK: 1
DEF: 0
SPD: 4
TEC: 5
Hana herself, the pilot of the Mech. An agile young woman with lightning reflexes and a quick wit.
Starting Proficiencies:
Ranged Proficiency (1000 OM)
Starting Powers:
Master Acrobat (400 OM)
Super Jump 30m (500 OM)
Alternate Form - Pilot (2000 OM)
Starting Moves:
Fusion Cannons (Mech Form) (300 OM)
Hanas mech is armed with two fusion cannons that each have three barrels and function via energy, shooting laser-like projectiles that travel with high speed in a rapid fashion, much like a minigun. The specialty about the cannons is, that they require high skill from their operator, each single shot requiring manual execution.
Their range is mediocre at best, as the bullets start to spread out wider and wider, the further the target is, making it to be difficult to land shots into targets at a longer distance.
The cannons operate with the energy provided by the mechs powercore, so they do not require ammunition or reloading.
Reference Video
HB50 Light Gun (Pilot Form) (300 OM)
Hana is equipped with a light, pink coloured pistol designed to protect her should she be separated from her mech.
She usually keeps it on the belt upon her waist, with the reloader right next to it. The weapon functions with energy, shooting laser-like projectiles with high speed and accuracy. The reloader is used to store and charge the empty magazine, whilst she can use the other, charged one to protect herself.
The reloader holds ten full magazine charges, after which Hana has to charge it within the Mech.
Hana carries three magazines with her, one of which is stored in the gun, whilst the other two are stored at the reloader, ready to be swapped out when the magazine in the gun runs out.
The pistol is accurate even at long ranges, if the user has the necessary skills and experience to operate the weapon in such a manner.
There’s also a phone-charm like chain with a pink bunny head hanging from the handle of the gun, decorating it in a cute fashion.

Came up with some neat-o questions for you to answer for your character!
- If your character was a food dish, what would they be?
- If you had to make your character as a Sim in The Sims 3 PC game, what traits would they have? Pick 5 of them!
- If your character was a Pokemon trainer, what would their starter Pokemon be? Better yet, provide a full team for when they've been training a while!
- In a detective Noir film, would your character be a gutsy gumshoe, a dastardly mob boss, or a hysterical dame/lad? Or something else entirely?
- What quote best describes your character?
- What LOTR race would your character fit best into?
- What Hogwarts house would your character most likely be sorted into?
- What art style would your character be more likely to appreciate? (Cubism, Surrealism, Pop Art, etc.?)
- If your character had a daemon as some of the characters in Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials do, what would be its final 'settled' shape?
- What single word would fit your character best?
- If your character had a 'mindscape', as in a land within their mind that represents all of their hopes and fears and deepest darkest secrets if you dig deep enough for them, what would it be like?
- Your character's happiest memory?
- What sort of bender would your character be in the Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra series? Would they even be a bender at all?
I can't think of any more, bluh. :froggonk:

| Sinestro's Grading/Fight Score Sheet |

So, this is the standard that I PERSONALLY use. It's also being used by a few others around the site, so I figured it was time to refine it a little and provide a few extra features to better meet the needs of the Omniverse.
I'm not saying this system is better or worse than anything else anyone is using, it's just the one that I use, and I personally like having a standard to fall back on.
Sections
Quote:Description and Clarity:
This section covers how effectively the writer created the world around the reader. Making sure that the reader can understand what is being described, using vivid or appropriate descriptions of items, events and people in the story and having good word choice all go into this section of the review. Note that using “purple prose” is not always effective, nor is consistently using flat, dry description. A writer that gets a good score in this section draws the reader into the world and allows them to see through the eyes of the character/narrator.
Voice:
No two writers write in the same style, nor should they. Even individual stories call for individual writing styles, a mood that creates a tinted lens through which the story is viewed. This is traditionally called the “voice” of the writer and it is a very important part of writing. A writer with a high score in this considers tone, pacing and including/disincluding detail throughout the entire story, and carefully selects words that epitomizes the character and the scene.
Characterization:
Character development, the actions and motivation of characters and dialogue are all important in this section. The goal is to create “round” characters as opposed to “flat” ones. Making the people in your writing seem real, not just archetypes following a plot progression is the goal here. The writer should consider who the people they are writing as are as individuals, why they take certain actions, their personal problems and boons, how they interact with the world around themselves and how they approach problems are all considerations for a writer in this section. Note that not all GOOD characters are LIKABLE characters. If you really hate a character that’s well written, this section deserves a good score! You should be grading ALL of the characters the writer is working with, even the opposition's. It's entirely possible that a writer portrays a character more compellingly than that character's "owner".
Story:
Every body of creative writing, no matter how short or long, follows a storyline. How well the themes, events, messages and twists grab the reader is what makes the difference between a decent story and a great story. The writer must capture the reader’s attention hold it with the actions of characters and the world around them. This isn’t to say that a writing must be packed with action or intrigue, even something as simple as eating breakfast can be made into a great story. The presentation of events and how those events tie into the writer’s voice is what makes it good reading.
Technical:
This is the clerical work of the body of work. Spelling, punctuation, grammar and anything else that can be considered technical goes into this section. Generally every major grammatical error per 500 words moves this section down one grade. Additionally, look for length of sentences, the size of paragraphs, and the general presentation of the finished writing. If it looks unprofessional in presentation, then this section should suffer. If you could see the current format being accepted for the pages of a novel, this should be a high score.
Points
So, honestly, the consistency of the points only matters within a single fight. It's very difficult to maintain a specific standard, even for the same judge, between each writing. However, giving too many or too few points will dramatically interfere with the Damage and SP bonus that is given after this section.
Remember that MOST writers should be scoring about a 10. "Average" isn't a bad thing, and even if the writing is of a high quality, it is being compared to the standards of the site. 4's and 5's should be rarely awarded, and even good writers should not be getting them every time they post.
Quote:"1: There is room for improvement. Generally the reviewer should highlight how the writer could improve this area as well as direct them to outside sources that can give more help.
2: This section was about average. The writer has room for improvement but about par with the rest of the site’s writing ability. Reviewer should highlight areas to improve and site specific errors or weak spots.
3: This section is above average. The writer has shown a competency higher than the average writer on the site, but can still notably improve. The reviewer can be vague with their ideas for improvement but still include specific details and weak spots.
4: This section was fantastic! The writer took the reins and really took the reader on a journey. Few errors or room for improvement can be found by the reviewer but anything that the reviewer feels could be cleaned up should be noted.
5: This section is one of the best the reviewer has ever seen. This level of writing is on par with professionals with very few errors and the reviewer should have a hard time finding room to improve. This grade should be handed out rarely, and only to the very best writing!"
Fight Rules
Quote:Rounds
Generally, it's easier to grade a fight at the end. If the associated parties agree on the number of posts they want to do, it's pretty easy to just wait til the end and then grade it with a single grading sheet, hopefully with a bit of C&C.
However, if the fight is ongoing/organic, or the participants want to use the Damage mechanic to determine a winner, you are better off grading every writer rotation. Don't give a full C&C for every round, just post the scores for each writer, then at the end offer C&C (if you want to at all).
Quote:Damage
Damage is really complicated, and I'm totally unsold on my current "formula" for it. In this case, the Damage is a META measurement, not directly describing the character's "real" wounds.
Damage is dealt at the end of every writer rotation. If a character was engaged in combat with another, they each deal damage to each other equal to:
(Total Score) - 5
That means that most fighters will last three or four rounds, though if a person writers a PERFECT POST (25 points), it is possible to kill a person in one round. That is very unlikely. You can throttle this, but I don't advise increasing the subtraction beyond 10.
Quote:SP Usage
For set-length fights: Add +1 per SP used to the writer's total score.
For organic/ongoing fights: Add 2 points per SP used to the total score of a writer at the end of each round. This should effect damage. A Super Attack and a Super Defense of the same level cancel each other out, but a defense of a lower level reduce the "SP Used" by however many SP it cost (ex: A Tier 3 Super Attack is used, and then a Tier 1 Super Defense is used. Act as though the attacker used 2 SP, for a total of +4 to the score.)
Quote:Artefacts
Many artefacts act in straight forward ways, giving Assists, extra stats, or bonus SP, which means they don't need to add to the score at all. Just use them for their described effect. If their effects can be similarly described with something that uses SP, add the approximate SP value to their total score.
Quote:Death
This is easy for a set-length fight. For an ongoing fight though, if a person drops to 0 HP, they die. If somebody wants to Banish them, they'll need to do it in the next round or the body will dissipate.
Quote:Running
A character can attempt to leave combat at any time. This one is more narrative and less concrete, depending on the cleverness of the runner, their SPD and how injured they are. Play it by ear.

He had run.
Right on the verge of victory, as the Courier had sat there on the platform, frozen to the spot, Kopaka had simply walked away. To what end? This was an introspective conundrum that the biomech had not yet resolved. First and foremost, a Toa's Duty was to serve and protect the weak. Fighting to the bloody death in a colosseum achieved neither of these things. Kopaka had only done this to serve the whims of the EPD. To have, against all odds, a chance at displaying the supremacy of the Empire. It was not a Toa's place to do such things; it was the people's job to demonstrate their own greatness. Self-made glory and the pursuit of fame led to jealousy, and in turn, Darkness.
In all honesty, Kopaka should have felt proud of his decision to walk away from the senseless slaughter, but now, as he slowly traveled through the crowded streets of the Colosseum district, the looks on people's faces managed to get under his protosteel. They were expressions of derision, disdain, and disgust. For a Prime such as he to simply walk away from a fight and deny them their amusement? Such a heinous violation of common decency could not stand!
...at least, that's what Kopaka assumed their thoughts were. He hated them, with their smug sneers and arrogant whispers. They had no respect for what he was; the purpose he truly served. In that moment, Kopaka felt a strange sensation on the surface of his Kanohi Akaku. An irritating tingle of sorts that refused to go away in just one small patch of protosteel.
As he slowly stalked through the shop-stuff road, the Toa created a small sheef of ice to reflect his visage back at him. There, towards the bottom left of the Kanohi's chin, there was a small scab of grey, rough corrosion. The Toa squinted at it with a curious gaze and tried to scratch it away with a finger, but the blemish lingered. Had the noxious fluids of the arena damaged his mask? Such a thing did not seem possible, at least to Kopaka's recollection. Uttering a small, synthesized sigh, the bionicle discarded his makeshift mirror and resumed his harangued exit from Camelot.
It had only been two nights or so since he had ventured away from Coruscant. The Smith Prime was not due to return from the Endless Dunes for several more days. Still, returning to the structured, lawful lifestyle of the Empire might do the biomech some good, though the idea of confronting any EPD officers who were aware of his true role at the Colosseum was tedious even in thought.
As Kopaka rounded a corner, he stopped in his tracks as the gently smiling face of Lorn assaulted his sour ruminations. Her sqaushed features and artistic robes were bright and eager; a disposition to which the biomech had a hard time relating. They stared at each other for a long moment before, to the surprise of them both, Kopaka spoke first.
"The next match is starting. You're going to miss it." he said, folding his frosty arms over his still battle-damaged chest. The Asuran scholar shook her head slowly with a wan smile.
"Eh, no big deal now that you're out. Did you get my note?"
This was likely a rhetorical question, but Kopaka decided to humor her.
"Yes."
Her irritating perkiness increased in magnitude.
"Outstanding! So do you have time to talk about your culture or...?"
Kopaka maintained a stolid, unamused expression, though it was unlikely that the diminutive biological could tell.
"No. I need to get back to my Duty."
The Asura's expression darkened slightly, but she did her best to retain her optimism. This irked the biomech.
"Oh! Well. Maybe some other time?" she beamed.
Kopaka felt a knot growing in his biomechanical chest. His integrity demanded that he fufill the tacit agreement between the two of them, and talking about his home universe did sound like it might be nice. At the same time, the Toa didn't like the idea of being passively strongarmed, and for some reason, he simply just felt like trying to shatter this creature's adoration of him.
"No."
Lorn's oversized ears sank, and her expression became watery.
"Oh...uh..." she said in a small voice. Kopaka's only response was to slowly walk past her as tears began to well in her big, subterranean-adapted eyes. The next moment, Kopaka was gone, lost in the ever shifting crowd, leaving Lorn to wonder where she had gone wrong...

Okay, so here's my idea, but I'm not going to make a Dataverse thread until I'm at least 65% sure that people miiiiight do this. It's going to sound super lame at first, but please bear with me.
The idea is this: We RP our characters while watching movies. That's it, that's the idea. Amazing.
------------------------------------
Alright, so, apparently my original plan isn't going to work out and people would rather use Skype or some other chat program to role-play in real-time! Let's do this, friends. :p
The "things you need to know" list:
My Skype: domesticheart.
What time will the movies be shown? Typically 11:00 PM GMT, on Saturday. Sometimes varies by an hour or two.
I have terrible taste in movies, so it's mostly up to you guys. Suggest a movie and link something about it if you can. I'll strike them off with each one we do.
ALSO, SUGGEST THE MOST HILARIOUSLY DUMB/HEARTBREAKING/JUST PLAIN WEIRD MOVIES YOU CAN. PLEASE. I'd kiiiind of like to suggest that you don't pick anything with super graphic or squicky stuff, though.
:psy:
