Quote:From Here: http://omniverse-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=10055
Okay, How Do I Join? - Starting sometime in late May, the in-character Registration booths will pop up throughout the Omniverse. These ‘booths’ include a large tent housing an office-like area, a staff of three Syntech employees, and a smaller room with a metal pad.
When you go to sign up (there will be a thread in the Dante Verse), these workers will take your biography, your vitals, and film a small promo of you to air on the Dataverse and on other streaming services. You will then be ushered to the back, where you will be Recalled to Syntech Station 18 (aka ‘the Preshow Facility’) in the Dante Verse. When you post in the ‘Registration’ thread, please make sure you include your Verse in the title (example: <Camelot> Registration)
The preshow facility is very similar to last year’s event. There’s a central hallway that connects to several domes. This information will be included in a sticky when the preshow launches.
- Library – a quiet zone where people can read and surf the Dataverse. Books can be found from all types of worlds and histories and parallel universes. How much of it is legit and how much is science fiction? Fuck if Karl knows.
- Park – an ‘outdoor’ area where people can play sports or enjoy a picnic. During the last few hours before the event launches, this area will turn into a ‘nighttime park’ complete with a little meteor shower.
- Dojo/Gym – a place for people to work out or practice fighting to keep them amped.
- Bar – a dome that contains a variety of restaurants, bars, and cafes that serve all types of cuisines. You’ll find what you like, we assure you.
- Barracks – All accepted participants have their own private room where they can go to rest and escape the crowds.
- Teleportation Hub – A room with a large teleportation chamber that is used to send combatants to areas across the Dante Verse. This room is locked during the pre-show
Note – Please note that violence against Syntech employees or willful destruction of Syntech property will disqualify you from participation.
Also Note – If you want your character to join in some unique fashion, please PM me ahead of time.
Please make sure you note in your post title what location you are registering from ("Camelot") and make sure that you've updated your roster recently or intend to do so over the next week.
Once you post here, you may move to the Preshow Facility thread.
Note: If you think you will be unable to register ic prior to the 6th of June, let me know. We can possibly work something out.
Sign ups will remain open until Wednesday, June 6th. This will be followed by a four day planning period, and Round 1 will officially commence on the 10th of June.

“Looks like we’ve got another.”
“Never a dull moment.”
A pair of stormtroopers had paused their patrol to analyze the new arrival from afar. He had appeared as most Primes did, popping into existence precisely when one was not paying attention, as if Omni were hiding his machinations from voyeuristic onlookers. The Fountain had just recently shifted form--as it so often did-taking the shape of a shabby-looking stone building outfitted with an enormous spinning fixture. This bit of antiquity was as foreign to the troopers as the garb of the newcomer.
“Your turn to give the recruitment speech,” the first trooper asserted, cautiously leveling his blaster at the windmill. “Hopefully this one’s calmer than some of the other recent arrivals.”
As the pair of soldiers looked on from across the Nexus, the fountain-fresh shinigami began to stir from his slumber. He struggled briefly against the tangles of his Shihakushō, eventually raising himself to a seated position and slowly opening his heavy eyelids. The Captain yawned as he glanced around, taking in what little there was to his surroundings. He did not remember falling asleep, though one rarely does.
“Where…” the death god rasped, gazing off toward the nondescript horizon. As far as he could tell, he was sitting smack in the middle of nothing.
Kenpachi Zaraki climbed slowly to his feet, dusting off his haori as he searched for any clues of where he had wound up. A glance over his shoulder revealed a windmill, its canvas blades spinning lazily without the assistance of any noticeable wind. Aside from this lone edifice, nothing of note offered itself for inspection. Where exactly had he wound up now?
“So much white,” the newcomer grumbled, glancing at the windmill as if it might reply. “Did I end up in Hueco Mundo?” His hand instinctively fell to his side as his eye left the millhouse to scan for threats, pausing as his fingers failed to find their quarry. “...Where’s my sword?”
Zaraki’s lips contorted into a scowl as he glanced down at his obi, noting that he indeed seemed to be short one nodachi; not even the sheath remained. A quick investigation of the nondescript ground/floor at his feet yielded no results, to his chagrin. “ ‘Ey, Yachiru…” He stopped short as he glanced first over one shoulder, then the other. “Dammit, now where’d you run off to…?”
The swordless swordsman heaved an aggravated sigh as he shook the last remnants of fatigue from his body. That girl loved to mess with him, that was for sure. Knowing her, she’d probably ran off to torment some puny Hollow and taken his sword with her. If only he had ever bothered to even learn to sense reiryoku, he would at least know in which direction she’s scampered off. “This is really pissin’ me off,” the shinigami muttered, striding toward the windmill. “Maybe if I jump up there…”
“KENNY!”
Kenpachi winced as the familiar excited squeak of his subordinate met his ears. Before he could leap to a higher vantage point, the pink-haired girl came racing toward him from behind the windmill. She dragged his sword behind her, his weapon lacking the benefit of the tiny pair of wheels that her own sheathed katana bore, likewise dangling behind her as she ran. Her eyes bore a look more closely akin to confusion or concern than mischief. “There you are,” the shaggy shinigami affirmed, squatting to take his blade from his lieutenant.
“Where are we?” Yachiru inquired, squinting off into the distance. “Everything here is so...bland?”
“I don’t have any idea,” her captain answered, tucking his zanpakutou back into his belt. “Seems maybe like some Hollow dragged us home or something.” He scratched his stubbly chin contemplatively as he spoke, again casting his glance around for any clue of where they’d wound up. This time, however, he caught sight of a pair of armored humanoids marching toward them from around the other side of the building.

From what Lupo was hearing over comms and the various communication channels, she suspected that their trip to the Tangled Green had been the shortest, and most uneventful. Aside from running across a pack of zombies fighting a werewolf -- seriously, a werewolf of all things! -- the trip had been little more than a long drive through dreary terrain. Even the looming risk of Vector doing some very worrying knife tossing in a moving vehicle did very little to put any edge on things.
Now that they were here, though...things were bound to get at least a little more interesting.
"Well...looks like this is where we start walking," the wolf spoke up. "Little too much forest, little too lacking in stable ground."
"Yeah. Got trails here and there. Who knows how long they'll last though." Vector had already slipped out of the jeep, squirreling around on the roof of it. Blink and you missed it; Vector was about as socially interesting as a bag of wet sand most of the time, but damn if he couldn't move like a snake. "Good part is...should be able to cut a path for us easy enough, even if the trails do run cold."
"Just keep in mind, this place is dangerous for reasons much more mundane than anything so fantastic as being in another world." In her typical fashion, Four Eyes succinctly put a kibosh on any sort of chance for lighthearted humor. "From what I've been able to gather and piece together, on top of Captain Wesker's findings, this...verse runs the entire range of heavily forested biomes," she went on, climbing out and pacing away toward the treeline. "Natural wildlife will be abundant, and we should all know how dangerous even regular animals can be."
"So we be careful, then," Lupo said shortly. "And we keep alert. Even the king of the jungle can't stand up to a pack of wolves." She turned aside, fetching her rifle and gear from the jeep. With everything secured, she stepped back. "Vector. Cover it."
"Ma'am." The resident knife-wizard hopped down and reached in through the still-open door, pulling out his own gear and equipment -- not a substantial amount, all things told -- and secured it in place, before tossing Four Eyes her gear pack with a simple "Yamata. Don't forget this." and reaching back in for what looked rather like a tarp of some silvery cloth. With only a moment to kick the doors properly closed, he unfurled it and tossed it over the car.
No sooner had it settled down over it, it started to shift and change color. Patterns of green and brown swept across it, vague and blurred at first. Slowly they solidified and took more consistent shape. Shimmering slightly in the wind, and probably wouldn't hold up to a close-range or keen inspection, but for all intents and purposes the camouflage would work. "Covered," the assassin noted.
"Right. Let's get moving, then." Lupo gestured to one of the trails which could barely be seen at the edge of the clearing. "Four Eyes, where are we going?"
"Right, uh, let me see..." The virologist hurried to catch up to the lead wolf, tapping at her wristcomp as she went. "It's hard to find much concrete detail. There's a few centers of civilization and the like here...some major landmarks and the like..." She went quiet, tapping away further as she pulled up the data and specific requests from Wesker. Probably best not to mention that until it actually came time to act on it. "There's...a few places worth checking out. No real GPS or anything here, so..." She looked up again. "Just...have to make do with old-fashioned directions."
"Of course. Nothing like the classics." Lupo chuckled. "Well, let's get going. Keep a steady eye out so we don't take a wrong turn and wind up falling in a river or something." She looked aside. "Vector. Eyes open. High vantage point."
"Understood." The stealthy one spoke simply, and went into motion. He went from a few paces behind his allies, to several paces in front of them and scaling a tree in the blink of an eye. In another blink he was gone; only a faint rustle in the leaves above hinted he'd ever been there at all.
"I'll keep in touch via comms." His voice drifted down from several paces ahead. "Channel seven." Then a light rustling, and silence as he moved on ahead.
"....it's kind of unsettling how he does that," Four Eyes stated, watching the last point they'd seen Vector at.
"Just think of how much worse it will be for anyone who isn't on his side," Lupo mused. "We just get a little spooked at how good he is. They won't even get that. Just a sudden knife."
"Yeah...glad he's on our side."

"Remind me again," Beltway's voice shouted over the noise of wind and sound of snow crunching and sliding underfoot and under-ski, "WHY we're out here tramping through Satan's freezer?" The normally boisterous and jovial giant was lacking severely in his usual good mood. "And for that matter, why the living fuck we're traveling like this?"
"Ah, come on, ya big lug!" The voice of their resident lookout was almost frustratingly chipper, from his perch overhead. "It's a novelty. Nothing wrong with finding new ways to travel, eh?" The green glow of his goggles stood out starkly even through the swirling masses of white flakes and off-white powder that whipped in front of his face as he looked down. "Captain wanted us to try not to stand out too much, so this was what we got."
"Yeah. Wanted us to not stand out. And yet look at what he sent that fucker HUNK out with." The not so gentle giant pounded a fist on the railing of the sled. "God damn attack chopper!"
"That would be because of the reputation of that man." From where she sat at the reins, the team's medic was the calmest of the group. "Where Mister Death goes, his namesake always follows close behind. He will likely need the extra firepower."
"FUCK OFF WITH YOUR LOGIC, SCHNEIDER!" Beltway hollered, turning away and dropping into a sulking, mumbled string of vehement cursing in Spanish.
"Yep, that's why we love ya, big guy," Spectre chortled. "Big guns, big mouth, big temper." He dodged a wild swing from the lumbering behemoth of a man, earning a harsh "SHADDUP, BODROVSKI!" and yet more disgruntled chatter. "Besides, look on the bright side, champ. Weather's nice at least."
"Nice." Beltway turned to look out over the landscape in their direction of travel. Beyond the team of dogs which pulled the damn sled -- if it could even be called that; the damn dogs looked (and smelled, dear god) like something that crawled out of Raccoon City and grew their fur back, and the fucking sled was almost the size of a car (so much for their low profile) -- there was nothing to see except snow, snow, piles of snow, a frozen lake, and more fucking snow. "You call this shit 'nice' weather?"
"It could be a blizzard," Bertha put in rather bluntly. "Or complete whiteout conditions. All things considered, this is relatively mild."
"Yeah, it is snowin' pretty nice," Spectre mused. "But could be a hell of a lot worse."
"What the piss ever," Beltway just gave up on that one before it got started. "I'm gonna hibernate or something. Wake me up when there's something actually entertaining going on." And he just rolled over onto his side.
"Yep. That's why you make the big bucks, big guy." Mask or not, the roll in Spectre's eyes was impossible to miss. "Still. At this rate, your nap won't be too long, buddy." He brought up his wristcomp, tapping a few keys on it and watching the data scroll by before pulling up the dataverse connection. Navigating and poking through, he pulled up the message that had caught his attention on their way here. "Coordinates given in this message say we should be reaching the site of this place in about, oh....an hour, maybe two if we hit a blizzard on the way."
"Hit a blizzard on the way." Bertha's tone was flat and unamused, the disbelief and incredulity nearly slapping the Russian in the face as she glanced back at him. "That would be highly unlikely."
"Yeah. On Earth, maybe. But we ain't on Earth." Spectre just shrugged. "You saw the Captain. Summoned us from balls of sparkly rainbow stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if Jesus swam up out of the snow and it started raining wine-blooded frogs. A blizzard dropping out of nowhere seems pretty normal compared to that."
"You have been exposed to far too much fantasy and many ridiculous ideas," the German snapped, turning back front. "This place is different, but its rules are not that abstract and ridiculous."
"I'll bet ya fifty bucks. We run into something '[i]that abstract and ridiculous' before this scouting operation is over!" Spectre chimed without missing a beat.
Bertha just scoffed. "If we run into something half as ludicrous as your second coming of Christ, I'll hand over double that amount."
The lookout man just let out a whoop and a laugh at that. "Hell yeah. Piles of worthless cash. Score!" he joked, before leaning forward to look down at their explosives expert. "What about you, pal? Want in on this bet?"
Beltway snored in response.

Ah, it isn't like she kills for any sort of reason!
But it's just expected of her, isn't it?
Because when you look at it, really, isn't love supposed to hurt?
When she wakes up covered in bruises, when she has her hair pulled out by the roots, when her heart gets torn to shreds by words, isn't that love, too? After all, didn't the adults always whisper that to her? "He's just being mean because he likes you." "It's for attention."
So, when those feelings burst forth into bloom inside her chest- her desires to hurt, maim, destroy- those moments where her heart was consumed with nothing more than the burning need to stab, keep stabbing, watch them struggle, choke on the blood draining down their throat, bloom in scarlet colors dripping and splattering across the walls-
Wasn't that, in a way, love?

This is an open thread for members to make suggestions for "flavor of life" improvements that can be made to the Omniverse.
Perhaps you know of some cool plugin for MyBB or maybe you found a forum theme you'd like to see here. Perhaps some change to the forum layout. If it's free, that's fun, and if it doesn't, it can be a donation 'wish list' item.
This is not a thread to make suggestions for changes to the actual RPG system, changes to the staff team, or changes to the IC setting.

The following are our only two rules/limits for Signatures and Avatars.
If you violate either of these, intentionally or otherwise, a staffer will PM you to notify you. Usually like "Hey, your avatar is too big, can you resize it?" If you forget to make the changes, staff may delete the image in question.
Limits - Sizing
Signatures may be no larger than 250 x 550
Avatars may be no larger than 300x300 and no larger than 150000 bytes
>Both of these limits are in place to decrease load times and prevent excessive/obnoxious page spreading<
Limits - Content
Please do not have any avatars or signature that are borderline pornographic in nature.
If you're unsure, reach out to a staff member. If you want to have a 'super sexy' or 'NSFW' image about your character, that stuff can go in your roster in some Spoiler tags.
>This is just a reminder to not flagrantly flaunt around NSFW stuff. Many people here use work networks!<
