This should have a hashtag and your post link at the end of it (see the bolded part on the end here: http://omniverse-rpg.com/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=1114&p=7298#p7298). Copy the entire URL from your address bar.

Step 3: Post it in the active fortnightly gains topic. The date of your post should be within the date range, GMT. If you are submitting multiple posts that add up to 600, post all of the links.

Step 4 (optional): If you have posted in the current book club, please include a link to that post along with the text 'book club'.

The Gallows’ Call: Fall of the Cannibal King
Posted by: Sasuke Uchiha - 12-12-2015, 02:51 PM - Forum: The Endless Dunes - Replies (8)
Quote:Takes place right after 'The Path To New Babylon'. For Deathchew's backstory, click here.
An indiscernible blur of cobalt streaked across the dunes, covering several miles in mere moments, until finally, the blur halted, and the youthful form of Sasuke Uchiha took its place. He wasn't sure how far off the mining community that had been raided by Baron Deathchew was, but he had to closer now.The shinobi raised a hand to shield his eyes from the vicious bite of the mid-day sun, and peered across the terrain he had yet to travel.

Daunting and hypnotizing, the blazing heat from the sun’s scorching rays above were but beautiful brush strokes of red and orange that careened across an azure sky. A beauty lost on the inhabitants of the verse, forced to live under the sovereignty of the harshest and most paramount law of the realm: survival.

Scorpions scurried, snakes hissed and slithered, and vultures stalked from above while they all endured the grisly business of desert life in the dunes.

Sunburnt, Sasuke’s skin felt the prickle of a million needles, followed by what felt like a scraping against his flesh with sandpaper. Parched, his mouth was so dry that his tongue had become immovable against the roof of his mouth, and even with the literal ability to create water, a feat all Primes shared, it did nothing to quench his unyielding thirst.

How long had he been at this? He felt as though he had only just left his comrades at the Nippur city gates, but that couldn’t be…

The shinobi turned back to see that the Kingdom of Nippur had indeed, long since been swallowed up by the desert. Time, the desert, or both… were playing games on him. Absent of Nippur in the distance, the horizon was instead lined with great spires of weather-worn stone that fell away into deep, entrenched canyons.

It was a crucible of death, a bone-dry basin of vast and endless ochre. Oceans upon oceans of shifting sands threatened to swallow whole any who traversed their dunes too long.

Unfortunately for Sasuke, he needed to go right through the heart of it. But not at mid-day. Not when the sun was at its peak temperature. No, he’d likely find himself reborn at the Fountain of Eternity if he allowed himself to be so foolish. Prime or not, you just didn’t travel the hazardously, hot Dunes during the noon hour. He needed to find shelter and to wait out the heat, for he had no desire to reunite with Arnold Hammond, or any storm trooper for that matter.

“This heat is unreal.” the youth muttered as he trudged upwards against a bank of sand, and once he had conquered the hill, he was allowed a panoramic view that gave him the vantage he needed. For some distance off there was what appeared to be an abandoned way station, equipped with fueling pumps, a mechanic’s garage, and even a billboard that read, “Rick's Cafe Americain. Come for the steak, stay for the drinks, because no great story ever started with someone eating a salad!”

Sweat glistened off the ninja’s brow, as his dry and cracked lips parted into a smile, “Home, sweet home.”

After some time trudging through many kilometers of wasteland, he had traversed the distance necessary, and arrived at his destination. Problem was, he wasn’t alone.

A woman garbed in dirty and torn garments that revealed an overtly, full figured, feminine form lay sprawled out next to a broken down Volkswagen, under shade of the way station. As the youth approached her, she stirred, “Hello….?” and once closer to her, she looked up at him from her seated position on the ground. Her tangled and filthy hair lay a strew against her nearly exposed bosom. She had a pleasant face that was surprisingly appealing, even attractive, underneath the grime that coated her features.

“Hello…” she repeated with a hesitant drawl, withdrew from Sasuke, and pleaded, “Please, don’t hurt me.”

Sasuke’s blank facial expression waned, revealing a visage colored with empathy.

“Here, take anything you want.” her timid voice croaked from dehydration as her eyes burned a hole in the sand just under her bare feet. Sasuke studied her in silence.

“There’s no water… You want some food?” she groaned, her cracked lips barely able to form the words. “Take it! Just, please, don’t hurt me!”

“I’m not going to hurt you.” he reassured her without eye contact, his eyes still surveying the way station instead.

“Yea? That’s what the last guy said.” her tone had changed, almost hostile, and it was followed with a maddening cackle that sent a shiver down Sasuke’s spine.

“Could you help me?” the woman asked as she expectantly looked up at Sasuke with her big doe eyes, and pointed to the bucket of bolts next to her, “The wheel fell off. It’s got gas, but I can’t fix it.”

“Maybe if I could… If I could… but I can’t. I bet you could though. You look capable. Why don’t you fix us up and we can both get out of here?” the woman coed as she leaned forward, revealing a vantage to Sasuke that exposed the rest of her breasts. She twirled a finger through a tangled lock of dirty hair as she continued, “Maybe show a girl a good time? Come on sugar. Let’s have some fun.”

She winked and Sasuke chuckled.

“You know the thing good about not having any water?" the Dante’s Abyss Champion blurted out suddenly, and in a much louder octane, "It means no showers…. It means you can smell thieves and bandits from miles away!” by the end of it he was shouting.

And like that, a gang of five, shady looking thugs abandoned their concealment and stepped out from behind Rick’s Café’s billboard.

“I am impressed,” one of them spoke up, distinguishing himself apart from the rest, “this man smelled us from 30 feet away!”

His gang shared in a moment’s laughter before he silenced them with a wave of his hand, “Now, what’s that say about our hygiene, boys?”

Roaring hoots and hollering erupted from the group of vandals, almost as if the filthy were proud they reeked.

“So, it’s safe to assume this is your doing?” as the ninja spoke he directed his attention to the voluptuous vagabond, who in turn, answered with her tongue flapping, licking, and slurping at the space between her to cloven fingers.

Sasuke smirked, “Maybe another time.”

The woman practically undressed Sasuke with her eyes, “Just name the time and place, handsome—”
“Shut the fuck up, wench.” spat the lead highwayman as he raised a hand to her, and in true dirt-bag fashion, laughed when she flinched. He then turned to face the raven haired youth, “And you! Hand over any valuables without any fuss and maybe we’ll let you live. Start with that bag you have over your shoulder there.”

Sasuke just stood silently.

Aggravated, the thug closed the distance between them, “Are you fuckin’ deaf? What’ve you got there in that pack?”

Sasuke smirked and muttered something only audible to himself, “Oh, ya know, just an essence of Omni and two dragon eggs. Basically, your ass in a handbasket. No biggie.”

“What’s that? Speak up, I can’t hear you, you little shit.”

“What pack?” Sasuke questioned.

“Don’t play stupid with me, boy!” the lead thug snarled, clearly growing impatient, “Open the pack and tip it out on the road, nice and slow.”

The shinobi looked the bandit square in the eye, appraising the man’s reaction. He didn’t seem pleased, but Sasuke cared not. Shaking his head, the Uchiha spoke with an eerie calm in his voice, “Can’t do that”

“Take off the FUCKING pack and put it on the ground... Or DIE” the head bandit shouted behind a reddened visage.

The shinobi simply shook his head.

The vandal had had enough and decided to get physical, shoving Sasuke as he shouted, “Are fucking you listening to me?”

"I am now.” Sasuke sneered in contempt.

“Good.” The thug chuckled, his body language loud and bold, full of confidence.

“You listening to me?” asked the ninja with the stillness still ever present in his voice.

Surprised, but not shaken, the bandit responded with, “Tch, yea?” followed by laughter and a look to his men for reassurance.

“Good.” Sasuke smiled before continuing, “Put that hand on me again and you won’t get it back.”

Laughter erupted from the man as he turned to his lackeys, “Do you believe this fucking guy?!” He shook his head and removed a blade concealed within his garments, “Alright, if you want to do it the hard way. We can do that!”

With a firm grip on his blade in one hand, the bandit grabbed ahold of Sasuke’s collar with the other, however, instantly, blood splattered both their faces and the bandit became a cripple, as promised. His gang, wide eyed and speechless, watched on in horror as the swift sword of Kusanagi returned to its sheath before the bloody appendage had even hit the ground.

“AHHHHHH!” the woman screamed and ran for cover.

“MOTHERFUCKER!” the bandit swore as he held onto his now, bloody stump for a hand.

“I warned you.”

“Fuck you!” the bandit cried, “You just fucked up... We're apart of Sledge's gang. You are so fucked! Get 'em boys, KILL HIM!!”

With a wild smile upon his visage, Sasuke took a step back and prepared himself for the oncoming onslaught. Home sweet, home.

Reddit: My Deep Verse Story [M]
Posted by: Guu - 12-12-2015, 01:16 PM - Forum: Dataverse Messageboards - No Replies

I want to tell my story. I hope this helps someone.

Back in my college days, in the halls of Rupublic Tech, I got really into the Deep Verse. Everyone on campus was going on and on about it back in the day. It was a place in the Dataverse that even Coruscant couldn’t monitor. It was a place where people were free to be themselves without the ever-watching eye of big brother. My friend and I would often chuckle about it, chattering about our favorite aspects about the place; like the site that shared exclusively Emporor Palpatine jokes, or the places you could easily get non-empire-approved drugs.

But one aspect we talked the most about was the sites you could only access through the uncensored tabs. I always find it funny when I hear younger people talk about Dante’s Abyss like it’s the end-all be-all of violence and gore. Clearly none of them have been uncensored on the Deep Verse. My favorite site at the time was “The Underverse Archive.” Videos taken by people who’ve been to hell and back. I’ve seen people get ripped limb through limb, body parts flying which way and the person still being very much alive through it. I’ve seen a demon rape a woman in the pool of blood and guts that was her son. I’ve seen a man’s rib cage pulled outward by an imp’s claws and I saw the bones cursed to walk like spider legs on the ground, dragging the screaming agonizing man along with it. My friends would always talk in private about the horrors that we witnessed, like it was some sort of game to us.

One day, I was on a forum centered on shapeshifting prostitutes. With a simple down payment, you could have a hooker come to your house and take the form of whatever person you ever wanted to fuck. Anyone. Period. I had long had sexual fantasies about Tyrande Whisperwind, (I was into elf chicks, okay?) so, that summer, I got a job and I worked all season and managed to build up enough money to afford one. I contacted the site supervisors and though a video conference, we set up a time and date

I got my best cologne on and waited naked in my living room. Right on the dot, a light rapping came upon the door. There she was, Tyrande, at my stoop. She was exactly as foxy as in my perverted dreams. We didn’t bother with pleasantries, I didn’t want to. As soon as she shut the door, she was dropping out of the little red dress I requested her to be in. We just got right into; she was on top of me in a cowgirl position.

I was so close to finishing when the unthinkable happened. Suddenly, blood was everywhere. Blood was spilling all over me, covering me in a cartoonish fashion. I looked up and there was a stump where her head used to be, and standing close by was me, holding a red stained machete. We never locked the door, and in my excitement, I never noticed the second shapeshifter come in. The other me looked down and directly into my eyes. The malicious grin he was sporting as blood continued to spurt from his kill gives me nightmares to this day.

He pulled the corpse off of me and tossed her aside. He approached me with the knife. I was frozen in terror, uncertain what my imposter had planned for me. But instead, he dropped the blade beside me, gave me a polite bow, and left.

Confused, and soaked with blood, it took me a second to piece together what had transpired, and how much trouble I was in. He just killed a woman in my house with a blade that now had my fingerprints on it. Hyperventilating, I quickly ran from my home. By the time I came to my senses, the troopers had already come to investigate.

Now I live in Tier Six. I live my life in hiding from the law. I’ve taken to sleeping amongst rats and decay. Sometimes I come to the surface; sometimes I risk it to see my old school again for nostalgia’s sake. I overhear the conversations sometimes. The Deep Verse is still as popular as ever amongst the young. If any of you are reading this now, you will know me. I’m quite the celebrity there; the famed “Twins Behead Elf Chick While Fucking Her” video.

I’m typing this in one of the terminals. If my story helps one other person from getting in this mess as well, then at least my struggles weren’t in vain. Careful what you do in the Deep Verse.

Posted by: Kakashi Hatake - 12-12-2015, 02:45 AM - Forum: The Tangled Green - No Replies

Pakkun bounded through the dense forest, traversing the tangled growth as he made his way dutifully back to Mokugakure. His tiny paws barely graced the surface of the overgrown forest floor as he sprang nimbly to and fro, bobbing through the sea of tree trunks. From behind him the pup could hear the crashing of boughs as his companion blundered through the underbrush.

“Heh. Gotta keep up, big guy,” the petite pug snarked. His keen senses told him the massive beast had ably kept pace since they had passed through the gate, though he could not gain on the spry ninken. A muffled howl followed by a particularly loud crash from behind confirmed his thoughts. “Easy, we’re almost there.”

The pair of canines had been traveling from the gate for nearly a half hour. Though in the past the pup had relied purely on the Reverse-Summoning jutsu to teleport him back to his home, techniques like these seemed to be slightly less effective in this realm. Sadly, he had found himself merely 50 meters or so from where he had begun upon attempting the maneuver. Useful, no doubt, though with the distance he and Bull would need to travel, running worked just as well. He supposed it was all for the best, though. Bull was not a fast study when it came to jutsu.

The miniature pug and his enormous bulldog companion soon found the familiar village, its tree-wall coming into view in the distance. Pakkun noted the increasingly sparse tree cover as Mokugakure neared, a telltale sign that they had truly arrived. Though far from home, the ninken found some measure of comfort in the existence of this protective oasis of sorts within the otherwise hostile forest. The same could not be said for his summoner, sadly. Kakashi’s a troubled guy, he thought.

Pakkun decreased his pace as they neared, allowing Bull to finally reach the heels of his comrade. The duo slowed to a stop as they reached the Village’s gate, the larger dog barking triumphantly as landed beside his companion. Pakkun glanced up at the larger ninken, rolling his eyes. “Yup, you win again.” The miniature pug only narrowly avoided the excited Bull’s slobbery tongue, bounding quickly into the village.

- -

“Hello again, Pakkun.”

The Morikage sat at her usual station, the messy pile of paperwork making its way closer and closer to the ceiling. She sat in her trademark pose, a single elbow propping up her deceivingly-dainty chin. A smile crept across her countenance as the pair of ninken strode into her office.

“Lady Morikage,” the pug responded, taking a seat on the rough wooden floor. He bowed his head in respect as he spoke, his noble gesture lasting precisely two seconds before his over-eager companion toppled him with his gooey tongue.

Tsunade chuckled softly, straightening her posture. “I’m glad you two found your way here safely once more. The Tangled Green is not known for its hospitality.” She paused, glancing out her office window at the village below. “How is Kakashi?”

Pakkun struggled against the weight of the affectionate bulldog, finally managing to free himself from the hound’s slobbery embrace after a few moments. “Well, he lost.”

Tsunade didn’t blink, maintaining her sidelong gaze out the open office window. “I know. I mean how is he feeling?”

Pakkun paused for a moment, cocking his head at the inquiry. “Fine, I guess. He’s in the infirmary. How did you know he’d failed his mission?”

The Morikage smirked, finally turning to face the pug once more. “It’d only be a failure if it were actually a mission.”

“I’m sorry?”

The Senju heir shook her head slowly, her blonde braids swaying behind her. “You didn’t think it odd that I send a brand-new Prime out into a deathmatch?”

The ninken paused for a beat, blinking slowly. “Uh...now that you mention it, it is a little out of the ordinary.”

Tsunade nodded, her smirk fading. “You see Pakkun, I’m not from the same...place as you and Kakashi. We’re all from Konohagakure, sure, but I’ve seen more of his life than he has yet experienced.”

The pug remained puzzled, his doggy brow furrowing. “Does this have something to do with that ‘Omni’ thing that brought us all here?”

The slug queen nodded. “You could say that,” she stood from her chair as she spoke, turning her back on the hound to gaze out her window once more at the village she governed. “Kakashi’s in a difficult place,” she continued, “One that both my master and his own failed to pull him from.”

“Lord Third and Lord Fourth?” Pakkun inquired, realization spreading across his wrinkled face.

“They had both failed to pull him from his darkness. The weight of the guilt on his back is hard to fathom.” The Morikage gazed over the village, looking toward the treeline. “Much of my time before the Omniverse is murky and hard to recall, but I remember enough to know that Kakashi is not beyond redemption. I’ve seen him grow, seen him heal. He needs only to find it for himself.”

“Find what...exactly?” the pug inquired. Tsunade’s words brought only more questions in the ninken’s mind.

“Someone to protect and someone to teach him as he teaches them.” The princess smiled as her thoughts reached back to that boisterous blonde genin. “I sent him to Camelot in hopes that he’d find someone like that. He wouldn’t have gone if he were not commanded.”

Pakkun nodded slowly. Though the Morikage’s words largely confused the mutt, he could tell she knew what she was doing sending the scarecrow into the lion’s den. “So how do you know he’ll find his way?”

“I don’t,” she said simply, turning to face the ninken. Her normally stern expression was soft, as a mother speaking of a child. “But if my predecessors’ actions have taught me anything, it’s that continuing down the path of bloodshed is not the answer. He has to find his own way.”

The ninken sighed. “I’ll trust that you know what’s best, Lady Tsunade. I won’t speak of this to him.”

“Thank you, Pakkun,” the Morikage replied, smiling.

  A Mage Reborn
Posted by: Negi Springfield - 12-12-2015, 02:44 AM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

The harsh illumination of the nexus threw the outline of the fountain, the only landmark in the desolate plain, into sharp relief. In the distance were the marching platoons of stormtroopers and the sure, purposeful movement of the few travelers. Had someone been watching the fountain, a tastelessly simple cubist sculpture, they might have noticed a slight disturbance in the otherwise stagnant air. The air rippled and coalesced into the shadowy figure of a young man.

Negi found himself on the white ground of the nexus. Why am I here? There was something urgent he had to do. There was... rain. It was raining. It should be raining. Why is it not raining? He needed to find shelter. Shelter from the imminent flood. But I did find shelter. There was a schoolhouse. There was, wasn't there? An abandoned schoolhouse. The sight of the classroom felt so familiar.

----------
Negi scanned the class roster as he walked towards the classroom. His classroom. High school girls. Why, of all of the classes I could have gotten, did I have to get class of high school girls? The idea of teaching students in a foreign country was bad enough. But to be teaching a class full of older girls? Absolutely terrifying.
Why didn't the principal say about this? In response, the image of his sister and friend waving as he left the train station appeared. He could imaging their faces if he came home without completing his task. It was always the same, a look of pity for the little orphan boy. I can do this. I'll be a proper mage as soon as I finish this.
----------

Negi smiled at the memory. The rest of that day was, as expected, pandemonium. So was the rest of the term. Yet, the it was not as terrifying as he had anticipated. They were my students.

But why am I here? This is where I first arrived. What happened after I arrived at the school? Other people arrived. Unfriendly people. They wanted him to get out. Out to the killing fields. I was part of the slaughter too, wasn't I? There were four: a pink-haired girl, a demon girl, a young man with a straw hat, and another man. There was a time when he could have beaten them with impunity. Indeed, back then, he could have fought ten times the number and still have won. But he was at but a fraction of his strength. The fight was futile, but anything was better than heading back out. Anything. After that... pain. Blades flying out of nowhere, ripping through flesh. Death was a welcome release. But I'm not dead. Negi looked down at himself. His shadowy figure had consolidated a little. Only half dead. Is this what Omni meant?

Dante's Abyss. That was the name. A game where the contestants killed each other. Some madman's idea of "entertainment." Why did I even join? For answers. Answers to who he was and why he was here. And I thought I would get answers from that madness. But he did get answers. He used to be a teacher and a fighter and a mage. They all felt true, like parts of his nature. He still had a part of his magic. It's not enough. I still don't know who I am, nor why I am here.

Negi summoned his broom and headed for one of the gates in the distance. Where it lead to didn't matter. Anywhere was better than this dull, white world. There were questions to be answered and answers to be found and they certainly weren't here, wherever here was in this new world.

  Bounty Tournament?
Posted by: Black☆Star - 12-11-2015, 09:25 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (19)

I've been thinking about this for a couple days now and I figured I should voice it and see what kind of feedback/interest pops up.

Essentially, any interested parties sign up and are given a set of bounties with escalating difficulty. Then there would be a final bounty that is the most difficult to complete. First to complete it is the winner, and claims the best bounty hunter in the omniverse title.

Very very brief nondescript overview, but I think the jist is there. I just want to know if anyone would be interested, if there's anything of the sort in the works and what not.

Aaaaand discuss.

ANYWAYS, YEAH. I hope you get the picture! So, I was thinking, since we're all hella talented writers and occasionally artists, that maybe we could all pitch in to do a panel of our character for a song. Because I was planning to do these originally all by myself, but I do not have the will to do that.

I'm thinking either a SUPER SAD SONG or a SUPER UPBEAT HAPPY SONG. Only songs where the lyrics are intelligible, please, if you have a suggestion. We could blend two songs together if there aren't enough lyrics, like a mashup.

One line of a song per panel, per character, or you can do a split panel for multiple characters if you don't want to draw a whole other panel. I'll post specifics later, but hit me with your song ideas. If you don't think you can have a panel finished or that you can even start one, ask for someone else to do it.

And, lastly, there is no time limit or anything. It would just be super neat to organize. I'll probably update this later with better explanations because it is super early right now.

Well folks, it's that time again! The rust hobo is out of his non-writing-ness cage, and he demands criticism! :rage:

But seriously, if some peoples could look back through my recent posts (ideally my Colosseum ones and the ones I did with the BWNN), and give me some good ol' fashioned feedback, that would be cool. Thanks.
