The mentats first rule is that “A process cannot be understood by stopping it. Understanding must move with the flow of the process, must join it and flow with it.” and none understood this better than Muad'Dib. His understanding of the Omniverse came not from refusing to partake in Omniverse but doing so with great vigor and vehemence. He knew that were he to abstain he would be like a blind man wandering about in a room full of pins. So it was that Paul, having heard the rumors of a star that had fallen from the sky interested him. He knew things in this universe did not happen without reasons, without causes. Omni was behind this- known to all for his fare for the dramatic and theatrics. Paul was no stranger to such things- the Landsraad court was nothing but posturing and theatrics and these were matters he was well versed in as the son of a Duke.
His task now was to determine what actions were BEHIND the action. What was the intent, the goal, the end game? Was Omni, or perhaps some other powerful Prime, simply seeking amusement or was there a deeper game afoot? Was this a trap? He didn’t think so- death didn’t really have quite the same consequences here. If it was a trap it wouldn’t be for those participating in it- it would be to empower the one pulling the strings for later gains. Paul considered this but did so has he went along with it. Stopping it would only stop the process and thus his understanding. This is to say that Paul made himself interested in this star that fell from heaven largely because others were interested in it.
Paul knew of people that might know. This is because they always knew. He was, of course, talking about the lowest scum on the Earth. They had a rat’s nose for things and he was no stranger to paying a top price for such men’s services- a man like that was worth ten times his weight in spice and that beats and honest man’s price by many times over. So it was that Paul arrived in the town with no name, a place he largely avoided save for occasional resupplies, to seek out what information he could find about this star. He knew somewhere in this town a man would know the name of someone who knew someone who knew where it had landed. It doubted it would be easy to get out of someone but would prefer to use more refined methods of negotiation rather than torture. Tortue told you whatever you wanted to hear and was about as genuine as the love of a whore. No... Paul had to grease palms rather than cut them.
Hooded his his wind-swept cloak he made his way into one of the seedier bars on the outskirts of the city. Paul knew that this place had earned a reputation as a thieve’s den that worked to stay JUST this side of the law. The fact that it only had a few dirty secrets and illicit activities meant that, by a large margin, it was considered “polite” and “high class” when compared to the other dead-end, bottom of the barrel, squalid, establishments that clustered on the edge of the desert.
Paul’s haunting blue-in-blue eyes glowed as he stepped through the door frame, his two men trailing him- clearly armed but not with weapon drawn. Paul had a regal bearing to him- a commanding presence that even in a place like this people took notice of. He was given a clear path to the bar where he nodded to the bartender and placed a few objects for barter on there and whispered to him. The man behind the bar nodded and filled three cups. One with hard liquor and two with water. Gurney smiled, the inkvine scar on his cheek tugging as he did so, and happily accepted the liquor while Duncan and Paul enjoyed their water. On Arrakis water was comparable to Spice in terms of price by volume and he savored the cool, clean, non-recycled, liquid after they took their seat at a grubby wooden table. Paul would wait here. Wait and find the man he was looking for. His prescience would guide him. He had forseen it.

Quote:Your name is FRISK. As was previously mentioned it is close to the BEST DAY EVER, YOUR BIRTHDAY. A number of POORLY DRAWN PICTURES are scattered around your room. You have a variety of INTERESTS. You have a passion for FRIENDSHIPS You like to DRAW PICTURES of your FRIENDS and EAT CHOCOLATE. You have some fondness for MAKING STATUES, particularly SNOW LUMPS, which you are AMAZING AT. You have no ASPIRATIONS, though you occasionally dabble in FRIEND SLEEPOVERS. You have a HEAVY DISLIKE of FLOWERS. You DON'T LIKE to talk about WHY YOU DON'T LIKE FLOWERS. You also DON'T LIKE MAKING FRIENDS. However, you DO LIKE MAKING FRIENDS. Yet you DON'T LIKE MAKING FRIENDS. You are VERY CONFUSED and RATHER UNSURE of these COMPLEX FEELINGS yourself. You DON'T LIKE to TALK ABOUT it. You also like to make INCREDIBLY LAME PUNS and read JOKE BOOKS.
With great anticipation, Frisk crossed another day off of the calendar upon her wall. She was quite certain the date was accurate and up-to-date...even though the way time worked made it kind of hard to keep track. But whether she was entirely on track or not, it didn't really matter; it was close enough to be used as a general kind of yardstick. Keep track of it for her personal use.
Just a few more days -- a few more days until the best day ever.
There was only one problem. It was kind of hard to have anything resembling a proper birthday, even if she was only celebrating by herself, without the necessary supplies. She'd gone into the nearby town just recently to grab the necessities, but...that had just been the necessities. And the necessities just wouldn't do when it came to a birthday.
Shuffling through a pile of loose papers and sketches, shoving aside a copy of MEDIEVAL PUNS AND YOU: SWORDS AND SORCERY JOKES FOR THE DUMB, she finally found the list of what she was fairly sure she would need to get and do to make sure everything was ready.
....she slowly added 'clean this mess up' to the end of the list.
>> Frisk: Take inventory of current supplies and make sure list is up to date

Quote:Your name is AARON, you like to RIDE and BUILD HOVERBORDS. You are a little over 4 MONTHS from your 18 BIRTHDAY. You are very protective of your FRIENDS. You like to BUILD and use things like spray paint bombs to ANNOY your DAD. You deliver parcels with your FREE-RUNNING skills and your HOVERBOARD. Your dad is a Stormtrooper in the POLICE FORCE, which the thing he works for is the one thing you HATE. You have also taken upon yourself the task of putting the HURT on those who have done so to your friends.
THWAP
Another package hit the door of its destined household as Aaron zoomed past, causing a few clouds of dust to puff up into small clouds that settled soon after he passed. Down a few more alleys, climb a dew more fences.
THWWAP
And that was the last one for today, now to just--
SpppplllllltttptptptptptptptttptptpPHUHHHH
Aaron yelped as he was thrown off the hoverboard, barely managing to catch himself and roll to his feet, watching the contraption sputter and heave as it smacked into a nearby wall with a loud crack. The smell of burning fumes lingered in the air.
"Dammit..." He groaned as he jogged over to the board, frowning at the new chip in it. He quickly swooped it up and changed his route to head to his shop, where he kept most of the tools necessary to fix up his hoverboard in cases like these. Luckily, he seemed to be just as fast on foot as he was on the board, scaling walls and hopping in and out of traffic until he came to a rest in front of the place.
With a smile he unlocked the door and turned on the lights, one of them flickering for a moment before finally keeping on, all while he made his way to the bench in the back, sliding over some paint bombs while slamming his board on top of the bench with a thud. He reached over and snagged a few tools before getting to work on his most treasured companion.

Quote:Your name is MARK. It has been one month since you were SUMMONED to COSTA DEL SOL. You have since acclimated despite IMPERIAL PRESENCE. A number of CDs are scattered about your EXTREMELY MESSY bedroom. You collect BOOKS, even though you rarely find the time to read them. You instead waste time on the DATAVERSE and listen to ANGSTY MUSIC while taking yourself WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. You are prone to bouts of extreme over-analysis, usually to the point of REALLY PISSING PEOPLE OFF. You enjoy memorizing POINTLESS INFORMATION and regurgitating it to anyone who will listen. You also play CARD GAMES on occasion.
Mark simply continues to type away as he writes up a comment on a controversial video, soon to receive back a few more, each with increasing amounts of aggression at his over-analytical posts. However, it currently does not worry him as he clacks away and indulges in his favorite pastime of navigating the dataverse. While writing, he suddenly reaches out to grab one of the scattered CDs and ejects the one previously in his computer, rapidly switching them out and plugging in some headphones before continuing his thousand word long comment. Suddenly--
Beep!
An alert on his dataverse device notifies him of an update to one of his favorite blogs that supplies his with random and often useless information.

The wire that Cyborg had used to expedite his search over the Dataverse retracted back into his finger as he logged off the computer terminal. He stood and began to walk towards the door. The librarian flashed a brilliant smile as he returned the log in information.
"Find everything you need?" She said as she twirled her finger through her hair.
"I did, thanks for all your help"
"Of course anytime, don't be a stranger come back anytime if you need anything"
"Will do" Cyborg said with a laugh as he turned to leave. She waved lightly as he exited from the library.
Cyborg pulled up his own computer screen that projected from his arm. He began studying the map of Courscant. Better to know where the important buildings were in case he needed to go there. Cyborg was interested to see that several lower tiers lay beneath the one he was currently on, this one being dubbed Tier 1 respectively. Not much information was written on them, at least not from the city's data base.
"Hey buddy, stop where you are and give me your wallet. Give me all you got. I want your money not your life, but if you try to make a move I won't think twice"
Surprised Cyborg let the projected screen disappear as he dropped his arms. Standing in front of him was a weasely looking man with a make shift eye patch over his right. In his hand was a blaster.
"Alright, alright, I do t want any trouble" Cyborg said as he moved his hand behind his back. The sound of gears and shifting metal echoed slightly in the area
"What the he is that?!" The one eyed mugger demanded.
"I'm not wearing pants as you can see, its a compartment in my leg." Cyborg lied as his hand just finished transforming into his own blaster. A loud whine resounded as he brought his hand back into view, pointing it at the mugger.
"I think my gun is bigger than yours, why don't you throw yours down?" Cyborg said calmly. The end of Cyborg's blaster began to glow a dark blue as he charged the bolt up. The man's one eye widen as he looked at the weapon as he quickly threw his gun to the floor.
"Smart move, now, turn around and put your hands behind your back." Cyborg said, still pointing his blaster at him. The man quickly complied with the order. Cyborg roughly grabbed his hands, restraining them in place. Cyborg began the process of transforming his blaster back into his hand, once that was done he brought up the projected computer again.
"Let's see what the cops have to say about this little altercation shall we?" Cyborg said starting to map his way to the the police department. The mugger groaned as Cyborg pushed him forward as they marched down the street.
*****
The doors to the police department slid open quietly as Cyborg and his new 'friend' approached them. The crook tried to shake loose for the millionth time, shaking vigorously as he tried to free himself. Cyborg's grip proved to be too much for the lanky form of the mugger who gave up and relaxed as he was pushed forward.
"Well look who it is, if it isn't one-eyed Maxy!" Yelled a black clothed officer sitting behind a desk.
"That ain't my name and you know but ya filthy pig! Its Maxwell and I'm a top notch criminal, ya feel me?" Maxwell spat at the officer.
"Clearly not if you got caught by a random Prime walking down the street." He said chuckling. "Officer Bennet, take Maxy here to holding and book him". The officer named Bennet stepped forward and placed a pair of handcuffs around Maxwell's wrist and began ushering him through a door off to the side.
"Great work kid, what's your name?"
"Cyborg, and I'm happy to get a criminal off the streets is all."
"Even so, most of the primes we run into would have just shot and asked questions later. The EPD could use a guy like you." The officer said putting his feet on the desk he sat behind.
"You're offering me a job?" Cyborg said surprised. He had figured the EPD would berate him for making a citizen's arrest, much like the police constantly did back home.
"Sure, having a prime on the force would help us greatly. Course you'd have to do a job for us first. Need to make sure you are sparkly clean and what not."
" What kind of job?" He said crossing his arms skeptically.
"Nothing major, we've been having problems with another prime in the lower tiers. Been giving my boys a hell of a time. When they finally find the bastard they end up dead. This guy ain't no joke, he's the real deal."
"I'd be happy to Sir, anything to help rid the omniverse and Courscant of another criminal."
"Great! Come with me and we will debrief you and get all the paper work written up." The cop said shaking Cyborg's hand with a smile.

Posted on an open site is the following message:
okay. so. yeah. The "Omniverse". Where I come from there is something called the Metaverse, and it's basically like this place.03. I helped build the damn thing, and if this Omniverse is a simulation then whoever made it is a god. Or we're all dead and this is hell. or heaven. I'm sure i'm not the first person to think about this kind of crap. In any case, if there is anyone else from the Collapsed States of America here, or anyone looking for a freelance hacker and swordsman, here's my number and business card.
[an image of a printed business card is inserted below, with the text "Hiro Protagonist/Last of the Freelance Hackers/Greatest swordfighter in the world/Stringer, Central Intelligence Corporation/Specializing in Software related Intel. (Music, Movies & Microcode.)"]
In any case I'll most likely be in Coruscant learning the ins and outs of this pile of crap you people call a connected information hub.
PS considering the implied scope of this place, just in case a certain other someone from my world is here....
[a long string of coded text follows, gibberish to most people, although the term 'SNOWCRASH' appears unedited multiple times.]
