A story about Turtles, Cooking, and Cooking for Turtles [OPEN]
Posted by: Weiss Schnee - 09-01-2016, 11:25 PM - Forum: The Ashen Steppes - No Replies

Roger the Koopa was a pretty uninteresting guy as koopas go, really. He spent most of his time toiling diligently for bowser in his job as Ashen steppes reconnaisance. The thing was, the job was actually pretty darn easy. Outside of the occasional mountains, you could see everything coming for miles, so all Roger had to do was dive behind the occasional rock when a drake came close, report it on his little walkie-talkie, and then walk in the other direction. Even then, this wasn't very common, so generally Roger's job came down to just walking back and forth along a straight line for days on end. It wasn't exactly nice on the tootsies, but given the other jobs Roger might have ended up doing? He'd take endless walking over cleaning up after the Chain chomps any day.

His monotonous job came with a sudden surprise though, when he ran into what looked like a gigantic crocodile with a uniform on it's head hiding behind a rock. Or... "ran into" was a strong term. The rock was maybe a foot tall, and the crocodile-thing?... A lot more.
So after walking five minutes closer to the crocodile-thing (against all of Roger's better judgement), he asked, in a trembling voice. "Uhh... h-h-hi there... uhh... I didn't, uhh... catch your name..."
At this, the creature jumped up in surprise with a roar, startling Roger and causing the ground around the creature to shake and tremble under his weight.
It was all Roger could do not to immediately bolt, and looking up at the huge, multi-eyed creature, he saw a certain resemblance to another fearsome creature in the Ashen steppes... and silently prayed that his mom wouldn't tell that embarassing story about his Mullet phase at his funeral.
To his surprise, though, the creature seemed almost immediately apologetic, gently putting Roger back up on his feet with a single hand.

"Oh my god! I am sooooo sorry! I didn't mean to scare you like that! You just... startled me is all. Forgive my human nerves! They're all too human!" Kress told the little koopa.
"Wait... Human?" Roger asked. Roger didn't know his biology that well - Koopas from his areaswere practically expected to skip school, after all! But from what he knew of humans...
This creature seemed a little large to be a human. and with the wrong number of fingers. And claws instead of toes. and covered in green scales instead of skin. And having far too much of a snout. and possessing a large tail. He didn't recall any of that being a human thing.

Still, maybe Roger just needed to pay more attention? For some reason, the more he thought about it, the more it made sense.
"Yes. You can tell by my human apparel and uniform, see?" The creature said, pointing at his head, and Roger nodded in complete agreement. It DID make sense to him, after all. Humans tended to wear clothes like that. It actually made him feel a little silly for all of his commotion earlier. He'd been making a mountain out of a molehill!
"Well, umm... My friends tend to call me Kress, and it's, um, a pleasure to meet you." he introduced himself, extending one scaly finger. Roger shook it with a smile. "It's nice to meet you too, Kress! Welcome to the outskirts of the Koopa kingdom!"

  Chopping The Day Away
Posted by: Ash Williams - 09-01-2016, 12:04 PM - Forum: The Pale Moors - Replies (5)

Ash wakes ups from the rooster crowing at 6:00 and smell of breakfast coming out of the kitchen. He gets up slowly after a long night of sleep and feels groggy a bit. "Grr, why do mornings some time have to be a pain to get up." mumbled Ash to himself still yawning and having the case of morning hair. The man gets out of bed and walks over to his shirt hanging on the short left bed post then grabs it. He buttons up the shirt and goes to the mirror of his room then fixes his hair by slicking it back with his saliva. After fixing up for a minute, he walks out of the guest bedroom to go to the kitchen for some breakfast. Ash walks into the kitchen and sees Shirley cooking breakfast with Esmeralda helping too. "Ah, morning Mr. Williams. I was about to get John to wake you up or Gus drag you out of bed." chuckled Shirley seeing him looking a bit drowsy. "I already have coffee made for you guys in the dinning room and breakfast should be finishing up soon." continued Shirley which she was still focusing on cooking breakfast beef patties on the iron stove.

"Cool." responded Ash then makes his way to the dinning room. He walks in and sees John and Gus sitting at the end of the table near the window sipping on some coffee to get them more awake. "Morning Ash! Had a comfortable sleep last night?" said John in a welcoming attitude seeing Ash's appearance. "Yeah, better then sleeping out in those creepy woods." responded Ash sitting next to John. The sun hasn't risen yet making everything outside still pitch black. "Tell me about it." chuckled John at what Ash just said. Gus gotten into a grumpy attitude once Ash showed up making him quite through their conversation. "We gotta lot of chopping to do today since the cold season is just about to show up. With you helping us out, it would make things get easier having a third hand. My son today has to be busy here doing some chores around the barn since well be gone most of the day." said John taking another sip of his coffee. Ash also grabs a mug and pours some from a coffee pot. He begins to drink the coffee which is helping him feel less sleepy.

"More like sawing for me." chuckled Ash after taking a sip of coffee from what John told him which made him and Gus had a weird look on their faces by what does he mean. An awkward silence has fell on the room then Ash responds "Well, you'll see what I mean..." Shirley walks in with the food on a big tray and starts to set it out on the table. The men get relief seeing the delicious home made breakfast getting set up. It came with beef patties, fried eggs, grits, orange juice as a beverage, and some toast. "I need to call Thomas out from the barn that breakfast is ready." said Shirley walking out of the room then goes outside on the front porch ringing the bell.

"Thomas! Breakfast is made!" shouted Shirley to get Thomas's attention. "Ok ma, I'll be there in a minute!" responded Thomas from the barn front doors across the yard. Thomas runs over to the house and jumps on the porch bursting through the door then shutting it ready to eat. He walks in and sees everyone already settled down and waiting for him. They began chowing down on breakfast and started to have a conversation talking about little things. Esmeralda is sat next to her mother looking across the table at Ash with a curious look on her face. She didn't say anything to him last night but is having a shy manner around. Ash sees Esmeralda looking at him and he waves slightly back with his metal hand also having a grin on his face to look friendly. Esmeralda turns away quickly still being shy towards him.

They get finished eating which took them about twenty minutes to do so. The men doesn't waste any time and leave the dinner room to head outside of the cottage. It was a bit chilly outside and the sun is barely coming up over the horizon. Dew was on the ground still fresh and cold from the weather. They walk over to a tool shed next to the house and open the door to grab their gear. Gus starts taking a couple of Axes and John shows were Ash's stuff is at. The evil dead slayer grabs the chainsaw and shotgun that was with the holster off a big shelf hanging over a work bench. He begins strapping on his holster due to him having a prepared nature.

"I've seen a gun before, but never saw a piece of equipment that you have in your other hand."
said John examining Ash's chainsaw. "Yeah, this is what I meant earlier by sawing. This baby here is my other replacement for my missing hand and yes I know that may sound weird but it gets the job done. It can cut ten times faster then your everyday handy axe." said Ash with a smirk on his face explaining to John about his chainsaw. They walk out of the shed with their equipment and it didn't take too long to get the wagon ready. Gus grabs a horse from the barn and sets it with the wagon. The men hop on the wagon and John moves the horse ropes to start going. They began to go down the paved road away from the ranch. The road was pretty long for a ranch to have but they eventually make it past through the front gate of the estate and into the dark forest.

  A Better Understanding of Transformations
Posted by: Centurion - 09-01-2016, 10:24 AM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (6)

I had a few questions about transformations and how they might work in the case of a potential future Alt Character.

1) Would an Alternate Form (the one you can easily switch in and out of) gift my character certain powers?
-His transformation is into a wolf-like humanoid beast, so I would want him to gain enhanced senses and such. Out of this form he's really vulnerable

2) Do transformations of this type require entirely different sets of moves? One set for the standard form and another for the alternate?
-Would I need punch for his human form, but then need slash for his beast form? or would i only give moves to the form that would have them? He's literally just a regular kid when he's not in his Alt form.

3) Do Alternate forms gain skill points and level up separately?
-I know that you can gain points to add to your Tec or Atk for a regular character, but does that apply only to the main form of the character or does the Alt level up with/ separate from the main?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks!

OK, so in my story so far, Glory has found Pokute Palace and plans to see Guu and check if this faction is kosher with her.

I really need somebody to play Guu and some assorted Ambrosia secondaries.

ARGs; blending real life, with fiction
Posted by: Rin Takao - 09-01-2016, 06:49 AM - Forum: The Arcade - Replies (6)

So this is a thread about ARGs. What is an ARG? Well, this is what Wikipedia says: "An alternate reality game (ARG) is an interactive networked narrative that uses the real world as a platform and uses transmedia storytelling to deliver a story that may be altered by players' ideas or actions.

The form is defined by intense player involvement with a story that takes place in real-time and evolves according to players' responses. Subsequently, it is shaped by characters that are actively controlled by the game's designers, as opposed to being controlled by artificial intelligence as in a computer or console video game. Players interact directly with characters in the game, solve plot-based challenges and puzzles, and collaborate as a community to analyze the story and coordinate real-life and online activities. ARGs generally use multimedia, such as telephones, email, and mail but rely on the Internet as the central binding medium."

The most popular ARGs are the ones centered around "Slender Man", like Marble Hornets (https://www.youtube.com/user/MarbleHornets) and EverymanHYBRID (https://www.youtube.com/user/EverymanHYBRID), but there are some underground ARGs like Cute Cat Videos (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZi7Tw9...jXya1oYLbA) and Project Rising Sun (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxAb48l...uVqx48Y2zw), hopefully, you guys find an interest in ARGs because I find them really fun.

Story line idea for Avengers and SoSV
Posted by: Beta Ray Bill - 09-01-2016, 01:20 AM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (18)

Me and Captain America has discussed a story idea for both factions. The idea is the while we're to busy fighting each other a new threat comes in play. This new threat is in relation to my future alt Nathan Hale. WhIle we break our bones going at each other the Chimera invade and take over a small portion of a verse. The threat is going to powerfully enough that we all have to deal with them before they spread out. I'll exsplan more details when there fleshed out and opinions and ideas are welcome.

  Necronomicon Coming To The Ominiverse?!?!
Posted by: Ash Williams - 08-31-2016, 10:54 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (8)

So I been having this idea stuck in my head about a week now and I was thinking about bringing this into Ash's Story. The Necronomicon from the Evil Dead franchise I was planning to see if there is a way to make it as an artifact to the Omniverse. I now this may sound off the walls having a new artifact come into the Omniverse but is it possible?

  Ever Wonder Why We're Here?
Posted by: Carolina - 08-31-2016, 08:54 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

Carolina woke up with a groggy shake of her head. This wasn't right, this wasn't okay, this wasn't even quantifiable! She had been on her way to save them. Her friends were in danger and she had to protect them. They needed her and she wasn't going to let them down....not again. So how had she ended up in some black void floating around aimlessly. She tried to voice her frustrations and found herself unable to utter even the most basic noise. She was about to panic when a lone glimmering figure appeared before her.

Quote:“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”

No. This wasn't right. They needed her and she was failing them again. She had to get back and save them. She wanted to scream, to beg "Omni" to let her go back to her friends. What could it possibly need her here for anyway. Omni said she interested him and that was what had brought her here. Well Omni could kiss her ass.

Quote:“This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.

“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.

“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”

So that's the deal? A material that could grant desires, others who she would have to compete or in exchange for the wish granting substance, and... respawning? There was no way this thing could be serious. Dead is dead and nothing could change when someone's time comes, as much as  Carolina wished she could. Before she could ponder the ramifications of immortality however, she was caught up in the darkness all around her fading.

The darkness gave way to a fountain in a completely white landscape. She slowly stood herself up from her former position on her back and took a look around. She saw nothing inher immediate vicinity except the aforementioned fountain, although in the distance she saw a blot in what appeared to be each cardinal direction.

"Where the hell am I?" She wondered aloud as she gazed at the vast open expanse around her. She instantly reached to her back and was glad to find that her battle rifle was still there. She then decided to check the rest of her equipment and found only her grappling hook and a combat knife on her person.

"It'll have to do I guess. Still, if that Omni guy wanted me to entertain him he could have left me with a few directions," the ex-freelancer said  to herself. She looked down the scope of her battle rifle to try and see what the blot in the distance was but she still couldn't quite make it out. Having little other options at this point she decided her best bet was to heat towards it and hope there was something there.

  Vote for Us! (September)
Posted by: Guu - 08-31-2016, 08:08 PM - Forum: Bookkeeping Archive - Replies (565)

You like having more people to play with, right? That was a rhetorical question, because having more people to write with is awesome. Do you also like OM? If the answer is 'yes', which OBVIOUSLY it is, then please vote for us on the following sites!

RPGfix (every 12 hours. If you register, your votes count as x2. Worth the couple of minutes to make an account if you're going to be voting every day)
Top RP Sites (Daily)

When you vote, please post here with your total vote count for this month. So "Voted: 1", "Voted: 3" or whatever. Just keep track of 'em. For our counting purposes, clicking vote on both sites, or on RPGfix if only that is available, counts as 1 vote. If you post less than twelve hours since your last post, we won't count it. This means you can get up to two vote counts a day if you vote exactly every twelve hours. Simple? SIMPLE.

At the end of the month, if you posted ...

7-13 times: You get 100 OM.
14-23 times: You get 200 OM.
24+ times: You get 300 OM.
Every day: You get 300 OM, and a hug from me for being so damn diligent.

If you have an alternate character and wish to claim your reward on that account as opposed to your main one, please let us know in the topic before the month ends. If you don't, we'll assume you want the OM on the account you posted with.

We're going to trust in this that people actually click the links and don't just reply. I mean it only takes a few seconds to click these links anyway, but if there's a discrepancy between the posts here and the number of votes, and people really want to try and scam their way to a few hundred extra OM without voting, then we'll just remove this. Capiche?

Thanks for voting everyone! If you have time, please also leave a vote and review for us on Top RPG sites (once only).

  Drunken Sailor
Posted by: Roger Smith - 08-31-2016, 06:41 PM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (1)

Every day lately had seemed like it was all one huge blurred mess in his mind. It had been a fair while now, since he'd done what he always thought to be the impossible and made it to see the big man, Omni, himself...and he'd sure as hell done a lot of good with what came after that whole mess. Right back to his usual business, only with a lot less adventure to it all. Lot less get up and go. A whole lot less life to go around, now that his life was quite literally in no danger of being in jeopardy for the foreseeable future. Without any hint of real danger — aside from Banishment, but that was a matter of business he was quite happy to leave up to other crazy fools that had done something to earn their trip to Davy Jones' Locker.

He was quite happy to just sit back and splice the main brace out here in the sun of the living world.

"Chalk up one thing fer this..." His rough voice halted mid-sentence, as a coughing hiccup interrupted his slurred speech. "...this whole...bein' a prime malarkey..." An empty bottle, gleaming red in the sun, sailed out over the sandy shore, toward the water. The deafening crack-BANG of a black powder firearm split the serenity of the deserted little island, and a shower of red glass exploded every which way. "...no shortage o' targets...once ya finish the contents..."

The once-proud figure of Captain Crow flopped backward to the sandy ground with a whump, spent pistol tumbling from drink-slackened fingers. "Hoooo....shiver me timbers, what'm I doin'...? Lazin' about out here, not keepin' track of business I need to be tendin' to..." It was with an effort of will he roused himself, slowly hauling himself into a sitting posture, though he looked terribly unlikely to manage much more than his conquering of the whole 'sitting up' thing. He swayed slightly in the gentle seabreeze, shading his eyes with one hand as he looked blearily out over the ocean. "High time...I got 'round to payin' a visit back to civilized parts..."

Whump.

"Just....right...right after a bit of a nap...."
