ARGs; blending real life, with fiction - Rin Takao - 09-01-2016

So this is a thread about ARGs. What is an ARG? Well, this is what Wikipedia says: "An alternate reality game (ARG) is an interactive networked narrative that uses the real world as a platform and uses transmedia storytelling to deliver a story that may be altered by players' ideas or actions.

The form is defined by intense player involvement with a story that takes place in real-time and evolves according to players' responses. Subsequently, it is shaped by characters that are actively controlled by the game's designers, as opposed to being controlled by artificial intelligence as in a computer or console video game. Players interact directly with characters in the game, solve plot-based challenges and puzzles, and collaborate as a community to analyze the story and coordinate real-life and online activities. ARGs generally use multimedia, such as telephones, email, and mail but rely on the Internet as the central binding medium."

The most popular ARGs are the ones centered around "Slender Man", like Marble Hornets (https://www.youtube.com/user/MarbleHornets) and EverymanHYBRID (https://www.youtube.com/user/EverymanHYBRID), but there are some underground ARGs like Cute Cat Videos (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZi7Tw9Htd7jbjXya1oYLbA) and Project Rising Sun (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxAb48lypMOZGuVqx48Y2zw), hopefully, you guys find an interest in ARGs because I find them really fun.

Also Pokémon Go, provided you have the AR option enabled.

Yes and no, Pokemon GO is an Augmented Reality Game, not Alternate Reality Game.

Does the Gravity Falls Cipher Hunt count? I found that kind of interesting.

I took part in the Ben Drowned ARG that the original creator of the creepypasta started.

Mick, yes! That is an ARG, I haven't been following it though.
Gin, hasn't it been rebooted or something?

Unofficially yes. The creator said on twitter that he had no idea the original  site was rebought and remade.
