Character Switch: Ellis
Posted by: Kopaka - 09-06-2016, 01:42 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (4)

Character name:

Ellis

Character source:

Left 4 Dead 2

Character history:

Ellis is coming from the very end of The Parish, as he's setting foot on the loading ramp of the evac helicopter.

Physical Description:

Stats:
ATK: 4
DEF: 4
SPD: 1
TEC: 2

Starting Proficiencies:

Physical Strength, Ranged Proficiency, Buff, Area Attack 3,000 OM

Starting Powers:

Healing 2,500 OM

Starting Upgrades:

1 Stat Upgrade 1,000 OM

Starting Moves:

Deagle - (Requires Ranged Proficiency) 300 OM

Ellis whips out his trusty .50 cal Desert Eagle Magnum. This oversized, chrome-plated handcannon fires at a rate of about 2 shots per second and is fairly accurate for a handgun; up to about 50 yards. Though it has a fierce penetration and stopping power, the main drawback is that Ellis can only fire 8 times before reloading, which takes five seconds.

Spas. 12 - (Requires Ranged Proficiency, Area Attack) 300 OM

The closest thing Ellis has to a girlfriend, this combat shotgun fires at a blistering rate of 3 rounds per second, with a gauge that will cause very serious damage to most unarmored targets within its effective range. It has a magazine of 10 shots and takes 7 seconds to reload. It has a spread of about 30 degrees, so it's mostly useless against anything more than 30 yards away.

Frying Pan - (Requires Physical Strength) 300 OM

A cast iron frying pan that Ellis is quite fond of. Makes a lovely SPANG sound when it hits something. More importantly, Ellis can swing the pan about once a second. Not very effective against armored targets.

Incendiary Rounds - (Requires Buff) Tier 1 Utility Super Move 600 OM

Ellis can only deploy incendiary rounds once in a fight, and it takes 5 seconds to take the box out and set it up for easy access. Once it's down, however, anyone who uses conventional firearms can grab a single magazine worth of incendiary ammunition from the container. It can be used up to four separate times per deployment before it is depleted.

Until the acquired magazine needs to be reloaded, the rounds fired will quite handily ignite anything they impact, be it living or not. Objects that are not normally inflammable cannot be ignited. The fire caused by these rounds lasts about ten seconds before fading away, and will add %20 extra damage to a given attack. It takes Ellis ten minutes to summon another box of incendiary rounds, so if he gets into another fight before he's able to do so, this move is unavailable.

Adrenaline - (Requires Buff) Tier 1 Power-Up 1000 OM

This oversized epi-pen is packed with enough adrenaline to send anyone jabbed with it into a temporary super-fueled burst of speed and strength. The benefits of the adrenaline shot are entirely physical, so any ranged attacks that don't use muscle strength are unaugmented. The surge of adrenaline lasts about twenty seconds, after which time a wave of nausea and momentary fatigue will wash over the person who used the needle, essentially creating the opposite effects for five seconds. Once Ellis uses one epi-pen, he has to summon another, which takes about five minutes.

ATK: +1
SPD: +2
DEF: +1
TEC: +0

Grenade Launcher - (Requires Ranged Proficiency, Area Attack) Tier 1 Offensive Super Move 600 OM

This adorable little noob tube fires an explosive contact grenade in an arc up to around 100 yards away. Anyone standing within twenty feet of the impact zone will take heavy shrapnel damage and stagger around for a few seconds. The grenade travels at about the speed of a fastball, and can only fire one round before it needs to be reloaded. Reloading takes four seconds.

Pills Here! - (Requires Ranged Proficiency, Healing) Tier 1 Utility Super Move 600 OM

Ellis produces a bottle of extra-heavy duty painkillers from his pocket. They won't cure any serious injuries, but they'll certainly offset most minor scrapes and bumps, effectively healing 1 HP when taken. Ellis can either take these himself, or, he can toss them to an ally within 15 feet. Once the pills are used, Ellis needs to summon abother bottle, which takes 5 minutes.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

I think I should have 11,127 OM to play with. This totals out to 10,900

Posted by: Chloe Price - 09-05-2016, 09:21 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (2)

Character name: Grothnar Ironfist

Character source: OC

Character history: Grothnar Ironfist is a Dwarven warrior, trained by the greatest of his clan. After...He lost track how long he was in training, he left to pursue the life of an adventurer - his dream - whilst citing that he's always loved the idea of an adventurous lifestyle and, as he said, "what's the point of living if you're not having fun?" He then left, reminding his Dwarven friends of his lifestyle: "Blast through life, and 'ave a good time doin' it!"

After he left, he was a wanderer for many months, his most frequent resting place being the town of Darran. Whilst he was at the pub there one day, he heard a group of adventurers saying they were heading to the town of Requiun, after hearing that bandits were plaguing the town recently. After a short chat, Grothnar established that he was going with them, whether they wanted him or not.

Before their arrival in town, they were attacked by one such group of bandits. In true adventurer style, they were quickly dispatched. However, this was also where the Dwarf found a particular ring, with a red gemstone in it's center; the Bloodlust Ruby. After obtaining the ring, he found it calling to him. Beckoning him to kill, and accept it's power in exchange for it taking contro. He doesn't like that too much.

The travel to Requiun was, otherwise, completely uneventful. Their experiences in the town, however, weren't so much. They came back to find a larger party of bandits within the town. In a harder struggle, they do manage to fight through the bandits. However, Grothnar was seemingly felled in the fight with their leader...

But instead, he was taken into the Omniverse.

Physical Description: A sort of medium-sized, brown beard is the only hair grown on his otherwise bald head, though he normally wears a helm anyway, preventing that from being an obvious fact. The normally wears full steel plate armor. He's 4'3" tall, and fairly round. He always carries his steel battle-axe with him. He has blue eyes. Notably, on one hand where a gauntlet would be, it is removed, and a golden ring with a red, glowing gem in the center is on his ring finger.

Battle-Axe: 300 OM

A steel, double-bladed battle-axe, with a wooden handle. The weapon is two-handed, forbidding him from using it with other moves. It's quite heavy and slow to swing, however it is quite powerful. Combined length axe head and handle is totaling 25 inches. I'm not sure if there's more to it.

  Fountain Forgetfulness
Posted by: Bandit With No Name - 09-05-2016, 09:18 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

She felt a warm hand on her shoulder. She went to face it, but when she turned around all she saw was teeth.

The woman bolted outright, water splashing off of her. She whipped around, looking back and forth, a wild panic in her eyes. The water sloshed and splattered as she scrambled to her knees, the slick marble causing her to slip and stumble as she made her way to the lip of the basin. A stream of water tumbled into the pool below, the sound of it filling her ears. She threw her arms over the side of the pool and coughed up a few teaspoons of water, her dreads dripping to the white tile below.

“Ugh,” she managed, her head spinning, “the fuck.”

She grabbed the rim of the basin to push herself up, only to hear the clink of her metallic hand on the stone. She stared at it for a moment in confusion and shock. She strained to recall where it had come from, and only after several moments of digging through the fog did she remember the Arena. It had been Gildarts. She had taken it as a souvenir… wait, no, it was a replacement for her own arm. It was kind of both.

She blinked hard a few times, and looked to the yellow ribbon on her other forearm. Then the pale, alien head dangling from her belt. She pushed her hand up through the bottom of her shirt, and felt the ominous, pulsing veins on her belly.

“Oh yeah,” she said gruffly. “Gross.”

She rolled herself over with a grunt, flopping down into the water with both of her legs in front over her, and her elbows dipping backwards over the ledge behind her. She looked up at the large statue in front of her, just the same as it had been the first time she was here.

The Fountain. Omni’s place of revival. Of rebirth. She closed her eyes, took a breath breath and exhaled, allowing her chin to drop. “How the hell did I die?” she wondered aloud, attempting to rake through what little memory she had of the time before she died. She knew she had joined the Colosseum, just to burn some time before she could return to the Dunes and pick up Caret. She knew she had stomped some serious ass. Then, she supposed, she lost? When? To who?

She slapped her hand against the water in frustration, “What the hell happened?”

Groaning, she pushed herself up, then gracelessly tumbled out of the pool and onto the tile below with a wet slap. As she struggled to right herself, she noticed how weak she felt. It was like somebody had replaced all of her muscles with rubber bands, barely managing to keep her bones from falling apart.

“And why do I feel like SHIT!?” She shouted into the floor. She had never heard of any of the symptoms she was suffering from. Primes used to get killed, be reborn, and roll right back into fights. Why was this happening to her? “What’d I do to piss you off, Omni? Was I not fucking entertaining enough for you!?” Staggering to her feet she looked to the sky. “Why you pulling this shit just for me? You go and change the way shit works again, you bastard?!”

Grumbling, she looked over the horizon, searching for a gate that seemed appropriately sandy. When she couldn’t locate it by sight, she scoffed in frustration and pulled out her phone. It was soaked, and refused to turn on. “Oh come on!” she barked at it. “Why did I have to know water killed electronics, huh? Why was I blessed with that knowledge?”

Sighing, she clasped both hands over the device and funnelled omnilium into it, a prismatic sheen shining between her fingers. She applied a flippant expression to her lips and popped her hip as she waited, the image of a repaired, water-resistant phone in her mind. “Yo, Omni, while we’re at it, can we make it so that fixing broken shit is less irritating? Like, I get it, we don’t want people doing that all over the place, but c’mon, man. This is stupid as shit.” After several exasperated minutes, the screen flickered to life.

“Finally,” she said, a smile gracing her for the first time since she awoke. She tapped the small map icon on her home screen, held it to her face, and almost yelled into it. “Where are the Endless Dunes?” She spoke each word forcefully and with a small gap after it, as if there was a chance it would misunderstand her.

The device cheerfully responded, “Working!” before displaying directions towards the gate.

She spun in place a few times, her nose down as she stared at the screen. When she aligned herself with the gate, she looked up and strode willfully towards it. She then opened up her contacts and tapped the single entry under them.

The phone rang in her ear a few times before she heard the receiver click. “Caret?” she said hopefully, “You there kid?” There was a long pause, dead air filling the line. “You there?”

“... Bandit?” a young woman’s voice finally answered, “Is that you?”

“Yo, what’s up? I’m headed to the dunes now.”

The phone’s speaker could barely handle the volume, and the speaker crackled. “WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!? I thought you were dead!”

The woman pulled the phone away from her ear, her brows scrunching in confusion. “Woah, woah, woah, woah! What you freaking out about?”

Caret’s voice went from red hot to ice cold, her words spit from between clenched teeth. “It’s been six months, Bandit. Six months.”

The bandit’s head ticked back, “Chh, I was at the area for like, a day.”

“The hell you have!” the young woman spat back.

The raider’s attitude suddenly shifted to aggression, “Yo, Omnitime, you little shit! I ain’t got any control over that! I take as long as I take, you got me?”

“What the hell are you talking about?” the secondary snapped back.

“Omnitime, girl. Certain people, certain places, they go faster or slower compared to other places and whatever. It’s like everything else in the Omniverse, Caret: it doesn’t make any fucking sense. Get used to it.”

The young mechanic sighed, “God I was so worried. I had given up on you, you ass! I thought you were gone.”

“Not rid of me yet, fucker.” The woman smirked.

“Well, I’m back at it. Still living at Shep’s place.” Her tone warmed considerably, “I still got your truck.”

The smirk grew into a grin, “Ooo, my big, sexy, truck. Thanks for keeping it running for me.”

“What else was I supposed to do? Scrap it?” she laughed.

The bandit stood before the gate, peering through into the sandy wastes, the burning sun waiting for her on the other side. “Alright girl, I’m at the gate.”

“Ok! I guess I’ll see you soon!”

“See you soon, kid.”

A Light in the Darkness [Complete]
Posted by: Ash Williams - 09-05-2016, 08:14 PM - Forum: The Pale Moors - Replies (6)

Ash spent twenty five minutes in the streets talking to locals he comes across for directions to the base of the security for Darkshire, Finally he comes across the base and sees that the place is occupied with guards outside. The evil dead slayer walks up to the main entrance to the base that had two guardsmen at their post and he asks permission to enter for his reasoning. They allowed him access and let's him into the place. He enters the main room and sees that there were some people who served the Darkshire's military, walking back and forth room to room. Their were some chatting and others being security in the room. The lighting was a bit dim due to the verse's light source is mostly fire and torches. At the end of the chamber, sat a long table filled with commanders on each end with a fireplace burning behind them.

Misc. items were scattered on the table and a huge map was in the middle with markings of tactics. The commanders at the table were talking and discussing what to do about the night-watch. Some were telling about their opinions on what to do and others argue over the ideas. Ash walks across the chamber with his steps making noises touching the stone floor. He stands at front of the table and sees that they haven't recognize his presence. Bickering and talking was what they had their focus on, not even paying attention. This makes him stand there for five minutes waiting for at least one of them seeing Ash. The evil dead slayer looks at his watch on his left risk to see what the time is while standing in one place. Still, the commanders were talking away about tactics and what should be done. Ash rolls his eyes at the commanders still not knowing he exists.

"Hey um...excuse me." said Ash trying to say something but is drowned out from the rambling that is going on. He has enough with this and whistles with his two real fingers to get attention. "Oh for Omni's-sake! What is it? Can't you see we are busy here trying to find ways to survive another night!" complained one of the commanders about Ash interrupting them. "Listen pal, I came here hearing that you guys need my expertise." responded Ash standing in a gesture with his two hands on his belt. This makes the commander take a closer look at Ash and realizes who he could really be. "You there, you look like a prime." said the commander with a concerning look on his face.

"Well yeah, you guys look like you need a exterminator." smirked Ash at the commander. "Ah, thank the stars! I will need to notify Atelos right away about you. He'll give you orders what needs to be done tonight." responded the chief in a little relief. "Do you have your own arsenal?" questioned the commander pointing at Ash. The evil dead slayer pulls out his shotgun and rolls it around in his left hand responding "You know it." After showing his weapon, he puts it back up and stands in the same gesture as before. "Excellent, I will go tell him the news right now." said the commander walking away from the table then out of the chamber. Still, the commanders went back to discussing except this time it was less loud.

  SWAPPING: Phoenix Wright
Posted by: Super Mario - 09-05-2016, 05:15 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (5)

Character name: Phoenix Wright

Character source: Ace Attorney

Character history: This iteration of Wright comes from directly after Spirit of Justice. (yes, I played the Japanese version.)

Physical Description:
Stats:
ATK: 0
DEF: 5
SPD: 1
TEC: 4

Starting Proficiencies: (3400); Physical (1000), Ranged (1000), Debuff (1000), Area Shield (400)

Starting Powers: N/A

Starting Moves:
Questioning (600, Physical Proficiency): Depending on which mode (Trial/Turnabout) he's in, Wright will either yell "Objection!", or "Hold it!". This is purely an aesthetic change, and doesn't change the use of the move. A white, spiky speech bubble will appear with the words he says written in red text. This bubble is about a yard tall, and a yard wide. If it hits, then it will do a small amount of damage. However, if Wright hits the opponent three times with this move in a fight, then it will impose a stun effect on his opponent, that lasts around two minutes.
Evidence Gathering (0, Fodder): Wright will duck down, looking for evidence on the ground. This takes around three seconds. During this, a three-sided die is rolled. If it lands on 1, this move will yield bad evidence. This leaves nothing for Wright to use. If it lands on two or three, then Wright will gather usable evidence, which can be used as ammunition for Evidence Submission. This is nothing but a way to RP reloading. The roll can be completely bypassed in favor of good evidence if one wishes. This requires a cooldown of three seconds.

Evidence Submission (300, Ranged Proficiency): After gathering evidence, Phoenix will shove it forward. If it's good evidence, then it will shoot a beam of light directly forward, for about ten meters, doing somewhat good damage. This takes about two seconds to execute. Afterwards, it has a grand total of fifteen seconds of cooldown. However, if Phoenix pulls out bad evidence, it will do the exact same thing, just without the beam. Useless time to waste. Wright can hold three pieces of evidence at once, yet can only re-gather one at a time.

Paperwork Storm (300, Area Shield): Phoenix summons a stack of papers, throwing them in front of him. While these do no damage (besides paper cuts maybe, but that makes no difference), they do block Wright and anyone behind him from being hit by normal moves. The area of effect is about six feet high, and three feet wide. The papers stay in the air for five seconds. This takes around two seconds to summon the paper, and he can't use it again for another ten seconds.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

“Good Morning, Mr. Mephala! The usual?”

“Yes please, Halley.” David paid her and stuck a few crisp bills in the tip jar. He had more than he knew what to do with, unlike most people did these days. Halley was a nice kid, and he enjoyed being able to help her out whenever he could. Taking his coffee, David walked over to his usual seat in the corner of the small diner. It wasn’t anything special, the seats were old and cracked, and the table was mottled with stains as old as the building itself.

Blowing on the steaming rim, David took a sip of the brown liquid, savoring the bittersweet taste. His blue eyes stared out the window from behind his glasses, taking in the sights he had been familiar with for many years now. Valhalla, the land of opportunity. He almost laughed at the thought, it was so absurd. He couldn’t count all the homeless people he passed on the way here, there were so many. He recounted almost all of their faces, so filled with despair and anger. Anger at a society that hadn't treated them to the lives they deserved. He could hardly blame them.

Pulling out a sleek black laptop, he opened the lid, he was greeted by a familiar login screen. Sighing, his fingers quickly tapped the keyboard.

Username: Mephala

Password: Hellandhighwaters

He pressed login and waited briefly, shuffling around in his bag for his Psyche profiles. His fingers finding the rough texture of the manila folder, he grasped the thin portfolio and tugged it out. His azure eyes lingered over the name on the Psyche profile. David Mephala: Nevermore. He smirked at the name. It was well known in this city, by both the government and the common folk alike. His name inspired a myriad of emotions, ranging from fear to elation. He almost wondered why he ever qui-

"Whatcha' got there, old man?" David jumped, almost dropping the folder.  Quickly regaining his wits and gathering what dignity he could salvage, he threw a half-hearted glare towards the younger woman. He prided himself on not being easy to sneak up on, but David guessed that he was getting rusty. "I'm not that much older that you, Halley. Four  years isn't as much as you seem to think." She stuck her tongue out at him, her warm brown eyes sparkling with mirth.

"I know, It's just funny to watch your face when you get all irritated."

Rolling his eyes, David looked at the sea of files on his desktop, scanning for the one he needed. Clicking on the appropriate file, he turned back to Halley, his face suddenly serious. Despite his detached presence, he cared for Halley. He felt like a mentor of sorts. If he had to put a finger on it, he felt as a big brother would for a younger sibling. She annoyed the hell out of him, but they were there for each other.

"I might not be around for a while, Halley. I...Things have come up, and I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't do what I thought I was right..." He paused once more, trying to find the words he was looking for. He couldn't. His mouth set into a firm line, and he quickly packed his things and left.

Halley was confused. He had come in every day for the past three years. Hell, she had named an item on the menu after him for his loyalty. She shook her head, the blonde hair falling into her face.
"What the hell have you gotten yourself into, David?"

She started to make her way back to the cash register, the lunch rush, as small as it was, would be here soon. As she trudged towards the counter, she spied a lone paper at the door. Her eyes narrowed as she approached it. It seemed official in nature, and many sections of the writing were blacked out.

Subject Name: David Mephala

Her eyes widened as she scanned what she could read of the document... What...Was this? She idly wondered if she had ever really known anything about this man, or if she believed what he wanted her to. She didn't want to believe the latter, but wasn't completely sure about what she should believe.
She quickly hid the file underneath the counter as the front door of the shop rang as a few individuals walked in. She quickly hid a surprised look, as these looked nothing like the usual people that frequented the small café. A woman, flanked on both sides by men in black suits, looked around with narrowed eyes and crossed arms. She looked positively pissed off; almost as if she had just missed...Halley wiped her face clean of any emotion.

"Can I help you, ma'am?" She deadpanned.

The woman turned her head towards Halley, her mouth curving into a smirk. Vibrant green eyes bored into hers and she couldn't suppress the shiver of fear that crawled down her spine. Heels clacked against the cracked tile as the woman slowly approached the counter. The two men that had accompanied her here, pulled the blinds shut and locked the door, the loud click almost echoing in the empty shop.

"I sure hope you can, Miss Vera." The lady started off, her voice surprisingly pleasant, "A...friend and former colleague of mine was just here, and I was wondering if you could tell me where he went."  Halley almost gave the woman an answer, but she snapped her mouth shut almost as soon as it opened, her brown eyes narrowing at the other individual.

The other woman's smirk expanded into an all-out smile, pearly white teeth giving her an almost innocent appearance. She appeared thoroughly pleased with herself, and then the woman's hand shot forward, grabbing Halley roughly by the throat, hoisting her into the air. Halley felt her chest grow tight with fear, the tips of her black shoes barely scratching the surface of the floor.
"I don't have time for these games, child. If you won't tell me where he went, Ill just have to pry the information off your corpse!" Despite the cruel words, the tone remained cheerful and lighthearted. She felt another hand grasp her head firmly, and before she knew what was happening, her neck was violently twisted. She was dead before she hit the ground.

  Name Change Request

Nealaphh is mentally reverting to his human ego, so I was hoping to change the account name for him to Tearen Wover in keeping with this new mentality.

His physical appearance will also be changing drastically in the future.

  "Updates" thread dead links

Many of the links present in the Updates thread are either unused HTML jibberish with 404 web addresses, or actual links with 404 web addresses. Not sure how much this actually matters, but I figured I'd bring this to the staff's attention either way.

Howdy all,

This is Commander Jim Raynor of the Terran Dominion sendin' out an APB to anyone who'll hear it. I've been dumped in this place called the Omniverse, with no idea of how I got here or what I was doin' before. Since my memory's spotty, I don't know if anyone else got caught up in whatever swallowed me up and spat me out here. Considerin' this Omniverse is big as all outdoors, it seems like a bad idea to scour every 'verse' lookin' for y'all, and that's on the mighty big assumption that I ain't alone. So if you're a soldier in the Dominion, whether long-time servin' or a Raider under the command of Admiral Horner, give me a holler. I'm stationed in the Endless Dunes for the foreseeable future, out in the Town With No Name. And yes, that is its actual name. Don't ask me why.

If you need directions, contact me. I've linked my comms frequency with this message.

Raynor out.
