  NPC becoming Prime?
Posted by: Roarin Keenblade - 10-11-2016, 02:58 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (20)

Hear me out beforeyou immediately tthrow the basic rules at me. My intention is to turn a Raven Familiar into a full Prime through ststory. I wold like this to count as a secondary character that is bound to the first.

For those familiar with d&d 3.5, what I'm wanting to do is have Claw the Raven eventually become a Prime through several drastic changes. It will gain sentience and physical abilities all its own.

Now in game sense, I know this means I could not have them participate in things like competitions or fights... or could I? If they both had Fuse and Roarin had Claw listed as an Assist, could they be allowed to work together in these situations?

I could just leave him as an NPC assist, but I'm not sure how to combine their abilities unless it qualifies as a powered up or transformation firm?

My ultimate goal, mechanic wise, is to have Claw add his Stats to Roarin for a limited duration, but be an individual entity the rest of the time. I'd like him to have some ability to act individually, but very limited (IE only 5 ststory points.)

The Strategist, the Hell Raven, and the Starpiece (Option C)
Posted by: Aadibah - 10-11-2016, 01:11 PM - Forum: The Endless Dunes - Replies (16)

“Where and how far out is our destination?” Aadibah asked Tony as the two made their way from the front of the jailhouse and to the vehicle depot adjacent to it. The Stormtrooper lead her to a fence gate, where he pulled out a ring of keys for a several padlocks.

“That’s for us to know and you to find out.” He replied, opening up the gate all the way and gesturing for the prime to follow. “You ain’t out of the woods yet. Any information we give you you can be relaying back to your group, if you’re part of one.”

“Not yet, I guess. I just got here.”

“Then you shouldn’t have any troubles not knowing, just leave us to the navigation.” As they tread through the motor pool, Aadibah observed a wide array of vehicles that looked like something that could exist in real life, and something that you only saw in sci-fi movies.

The pair stopped at a set of four alien looking vehicles. Three of them resembled snowmobiles, with the twin sleds in front, but were significantly larger and made out of some strange metal. In the rear was what looked a fin behind the open cockpit at the rear and a massive turbine in the front. A top of the middle section was another seat and a futuristic looking machine gun affixed to the vehicle. The fourth vehicle was of similar aesthetics to the others, but looked more like a chopper with an oversized front tire, two cannons, and a jet engine on the rear of the seat. All four of them were sandy, dirty, full of dents and rust holes, with straps all over for holding bags, weapons, supplies in general.

“The fuck are these?” Was the first thing out of Aadibah’s mouth. Tony turned to her, grinning.

“Those three are called prowlers.” He waved his hand at each of them, “Light troop transports. They only seat two at a time, so we need a lot of them. Thing is out in the dunes you wanna be able to scatter, don’t wanna be all clustered in one spot. Then the one with the big wheel is the chopper, Shanna uses that to follow us from a distance.”

“You don’t tell me where we’re going, but you tell me your squad’s tactics?”

“I didn’t tell you everything, I’m just giving you the basics. Besides, I’m willing to take that risk, in case something happens, so you can help us out.” He shook the three rifle clips in his hand, “then you’ll get these back.” Stuffing the clips in an empty rucksack on the straps of the first prowler, he got opened a hatch on the front of the vehicle and began looking inside at the engine.

Aadbiah peered over the stormtrooper’s shoulder, into the mechanics of the alien craft. Her brow furrowed and her eyes almost went cross-eyed as they darted back and forth over all the foreign parts.

“I can’t make heads or tails of this damned thing.” She broadcasted to Tony, in the middle of pulling out a dipstick from a jerry-rigged oil pan.

“Yeah, well. Most of it’s Covenant tech, but over the years we’ve had to add our own stuff to keep everything running.” He wiped off the dipstick with a cloth, checked the oil, then slid it back in. “This one’s low. See that workbench over there?”

Aadibah looked over and nodded promptly, stepping over to a plastic container and undoing the cap before handing it to the Stormtrooper who poured half of a quart in.

Over the course of the next hour, Tony gave a run down to the prime of the inner-workings of the vehicles, having her start them up and give minor repairs, tweaks, and general maintenance.

  Roarin Keenblade
Posted by: Roarin Keenblade - 10-11-2016, 01:16 AM - Forum: Joining - Replies (8)

Character Name: Roarin Keenblade
Character Source: Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e, various source books
Character History:
The Tribe of Mount Miardar is lead by Yimna Trueblade, Roarin's great aunt. From a young age, he joined the masses in admiring the elder. She was the first to rise above the simple life of the Barbarian and attend the Warrior's Guild run by the Dwarves that made home inside the very mountain that held the Tribe's village. Yimna's impressive prowess as a Swordsage - in both knowledge and fighting skill - held promise to take the barnarian Goliaths and turn them into something greater.

Roarin wished to follow in her footsteps, but not by becoming a carbon copy. As with all Goliaths, he had the competitive nature that made him want to surpass the Chieftain, despite being fifth in line and unlikely to ever take the title. He dabbled both as a Swordsage with the Dwarfs, and as an Artificer with the humans that dwelled in the valley below. He even trained under a Samurai, though he would never choose a liege, making him one of the few Wandering Samurai trained by traditional methods.

By the age of fifteen, he had already inspired half of the fifty youths in the village to branch out and learn from Masters other than crude barbarians. He was surprised to find writing becoming a widespread interest, where before most Goliath would never know what a quill is. He was proud of himself. His kin were proud of him. Some so proud, that by this time they had stepped down and he had gone from fifth in line to third. Not that he would ever be Chieftain.

With his name growing, Roarin's parents stepped in. His father had arranged for a marriage between him and the daughter of his Artificer Master, a lovely young Human girl. Many might have been upset with a lack of choice, but Roarin was nonresistant. The only reason he had become a student was after saving her life. She was very lovely and rather entertaining too, making her completely tolerable as a life-companion.

Stats:
ATK: 4
DEF: 3
SPD: 1
TEC: 2

Proficiencies: 2000
1000 - Physical
1000 - Debuff

Moves: 1500
300 - Xiucoatl's Katana [Weapon] A hand-and-a-half weapon, the Katana normally requires two hands to wield, but Roarin's training with the weapon allows him to wield it single handedly.

  • 300 - Flaming: (Debuff) When drawn, the sword ignites, dealing extra fire damage and setting the target ablaze.
  • Fodder - Item Familiars grow as their owners do, gaining special abilities and even sentience all its own.
  • Notes: Range point-blank, Damage high, speed medium
300 - Miyumi's Wakazashi [Weapon] A one-handed sword, the Wakazashi compliments the Katana in a set known as a Daisho.
  • 300 - Frost: (Debuff) When drawn, the weapon cools rapidly till frost clings to the blade. It deals extra ice damage and slows the target.
  • Fodder - Item Familiars grow as their owners do, gaining special abilities and even sentience all its own.
  • Notes: Range point-blank, Damage medium, speed high
300 - Artificer Spell List:

  • Infusions Per Day: 2 at 1st Level
600 - Swordsage Manouver List:
  • Manouvers Per Encounter: 4
  • 300 - Wolf Fang Strike: [Strike] (Tiger Claw) In a great feat of strength and skill, Roarin swings two powerful blows as one with two weapons.

Move [Type]:
  • Stances can be used endlessly, repeatedly and activated at will. However, only one stance can be active at Roarin's current level of training. He can shift stances, but all benefits of the previous stance are lost before the new benefits are gained.
  • Weapons are weapons, or methods of attack. Weapons can be wielded in the primary hand, or the offhand. The primary hand gains benefits of full strength on attack, while offhand gains only half. Duel wielding at Roarin's current level suffers heavy penalties to accuracy due to lack of training.
  • Infusions are neither Divine nor Arcane, and can only be used on nonliving (more specifically, nonbiological) objects. Sentient Constructs CAN be infused.
  • Fodder includes anything which does not directly effect other Primes, but is frequently used, important to Roarin's story, or that is usable at a small level with definite intentions of improvement in the near future (IE placeholder.)
Notes:
  1. The original Ability Scores for the character were calculated by using the Ability Score Modifier on a ratio of 1:1 Ability Modifier: Stat Point. Limited stat points meant a reduction of stats was necessary, which was done according to the ratio of "desired Stat spread."
  2. Roarin in Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 is considered a level 4 character, with one level in Swordsage, Samurai and Artificer, plus the +1 Level Adjustment7 for Goliath. Each Omniverse level increases all class-levels by 1, but each individual aspect must be purchased individually. Meaning if no new classes are gained, Roarin will be Epic level by Omniverse level 7 (Being at D&D level 22.)
  3. 3.5 to Omniverse conversion allows for "Hollow Levels" meaning though he may be Epic Level, he may still fight like a level 5 Warrior if appropriate moves, powers and proficiency are not purchased. It does, however, open up Epic-level abilities.
  4. No D&D classes can be learned between leveling up. New classes begin at level 1, no matter Roarin's Omniverse-based level, but still receive +1 for every level thereafter.
  5. Roarin's desired Stat score is: ATK: 6, DEF 4, SPD 2, TEC 6
  6. Roarin's base Ability scores (and modifiers) are:
  • Strength: 22 (+6) 18 base, + 4 Goliath - becomes Attack
  • Dexterity: 14 (+2) 16 base, -2 Goliath - becomes Speed
  • Constitution: 18 (+4) 16 base, +2 Goliath
  • Intelligence: 14 (+2) Adds to Tec
  • Wisdom: 14 (+2) 13 Base, +1 LVL4 Adds to TEC
  • Charisma: 12 (+1) Adds to Tec
I confirm that I have read and agreed to the rules of Conduct.

Heeeeey guys! My name is Gaaige. I’m new here, but back where I’m from, I did this whole vlogging thing. It wasn’t really that popular. But hey, might as well do it, right?

So uh, let’s see, oh! I joined this group. They’re called the Blades or something, I don’t know. They’re preeeetty cooool. The leader is like a bourgeois demon, I think? I dunno. He’s trying to be all scary and seems vaguely sadistic, but, you know, I sorta was on Pandora, so it’s not like that’s anything new. Whatever. He thinks he’s all cool and stuff but we’ll see what his spoiled ass is like in a fight. Anarchy FOREVER!!

Oh, there’s this other girl. She won’t tell me her name, so that’s weird. She wants me to call her Shadow, which is, well, all edgy and stuff? Respect. She’s super cool. And she has this giant fluffy dog who is just ADOOOORABLE. DT is already besties with him. They’re super cute together.

Claptrap’s here too. If we’re being honest, I kiiiiinda wish he wasn’t. He’s alright, but he gets a little annoying. He totally interrupted Shadow and my girl time, so EW. But I still have hopes. You know, maybe I think that Deathtrap and Claptrap should be romantically involved, I don’t know, maybe. But otherwise, he can go away.

Like, he’s already spouting some Hyperion porpaganda bullcrap about me using a Jakobs shotgun? Like, what’s wrong with Jakobs? What, uh, what’s that thing they say... Oh yeah. If it took more than one shot, you weren’t using Jakobs. Which is good, ‘cause like, my hit-miss ratio is sadness. Like, it never really hits anyone. So, like, if my shots actually hit you? I need it to hurt, like, a LOT.

It’s easy to forget that Claptrap has Hyperion programming.

Anyways. Our first job is to look for this guy named Ballad? He shot up this town called Minas Tirith or something. I keep feeling like I’ve heard that place before? Whatever. Point is, he’s an obvious bad guy. So. Murder tyyyme! ...huh.

Apparently, that demon guy, Kuzuru or whatever, he got intel on where this Ballad guy is? Apparently somewhere cold. I should get a sweater or something for DT. Actually, I’m sure he’ll be fine. He’s kinda metal.

Uh, serious time. I’m starting to feel really bad about all the stuff I uh, I did. You know, killing all those people and stuff? It’s tough. And weeeird. Like, I didn’t care at all earlier, like, back on Pandora? But now I’m getting all PTSD about it? I don’t like it. It’s... harder to do the things I’m good at. You know?

Ooop, looks like it’s time to go. YEAH, I’M COMING! Jesus, try to have some hot cocoa in this place... *slurp*

Alright, I’ll see y’all next time!

  Reactor Levels: Unknown
Posted by: Clownpiece - 10-10-2016, 10:31 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

Without much of a farewell, the pale figure of Omni faded into the void, and white spilled into the black emptiness. The warmth and glow of her underground nuclear reactor was quickly fading from memory, replaced by the uncaring, endlessly stretching blankness. Utsuho shifted on her feet, the warm metal of the control rod secured firmly to her right hand presenting some level of comfort. Her vision darted around, jerking from place to place in a manner not unlike a confused bird.

Her cursory and rather incomplete investigation revealed one very important thing. She was incredibly lost. Compared to the soft pinks and purples of the Palace of the Earth Spirits, or the radiant yellows and oranges of her nuclear reactor, the blank white of this place was absolutely unforgiving. The hell raven wasn’t quite sure whether she wanted to cry or burn everything into an irradiated mess.

Utsuho took a shaky step forward, her right foot planting onto the ground with a satisfying thud, weighed down by the solid corium encasing said foot. Whatever had happened, at least, hadn’t impacted her physically. And judging by the heated turmoil raging within her core, it hadn’t affected her ability either. Which meant she might as well start trying to burn everything away. Maybe someone familiar would come by and stop her. Then she could ask for some help getting home.

The hell-raven raised her control rod up and forward, bracing it with her left hand. By channeling her tumultuous power through that rod, she could gain more precise control. The nuclear reactions within surged forth, building up rapidly, before...

BOOM

Energetic plasma burst forth through the rod, the reactionary force knocking the ill-prepared Utsuho right onto her back. The raven blankly stared up at the empty white above, blinking periodically. What had she been doing again? Messing with her output? Maybe that’s what had knocked her clear over. It was nice to know how hot she could go before she started a runaway reaction. She sat back up, eyes wandering around everything again. If she was screwing around with the output though, then why wasn’t she in the reactor? And hadn’t Lady Satori told her not to go doing that? Just in case she caused another uncontainable meltdown? Not that she couldn’t contain it anyway, her dominion over fusion and fission would let her temper that, or at least, so she figured.

A discontented grumbled escaped her throat, and Utsuho brought her free hand up to her head, ruffling her hair. It just didn’t make sense. And for that matter, where was she, and what was she doing here? She didn’t remember leaving the reactor, and if someone had kidnapped her or something, she’d remember. She had no idea where this was, and no way to get out it seemed, the empty extended endlessly, after all. Maybe if she launched a nuclear flare upwards, someone would see and come help her? The young raven lifted her control rod skyward. Nuclear reactions raged deep inside her, building, surging, before...

BOOM

The laws of physics again showed no mercy to the youkai, the force of her blast once again driving her back-first into the ground.
“Huh...” Utsuho sighed curiously, largely ignoring the blankness above. So that’s what she’d been trying to do. Clearly she was doing it all wrong. Though what exactly was going wrong she didn’t know. Or maybe it had been successful, and she just didn’t know because she had been too busy experiencing surprise g-forces. In which case she could wait around for someone to investigate. That felt a bit optimistic though.

The raven lifted off the ground gracefully, bringing herself right-side up again, before planting her feet firmly onto the deceptive white, her concrete boot making an audible thud. Perhaps she just needed to pick a direction and walk in it. Her eyes darted about again, and this time she also made a point of actually turning to check things out. Immediately upon doing so, her vision was dominated by a great stone cylinder, standing at least thrice as tall as she, and sitting stoically within a pool of water, the sides of which quickly gave away into that featureless white yet again.

It was cool enough, giving the hell raven a familiar vibe, but it didn’t exactly help her at all. Especially since it wasn’t really ringing any bells. Familiar, but not too familiar. She shrugged, whatever it was, it probably wasn’t actually all that important. Maybe past it would be a good direction to head though.

Utsuho leapt up, easily clearing the top of the cylinder and landing quite gently on the other side, even though it probably would have been easier just to walk around it. Steadily, she set forth, her stride surprisingly even given the concrete block on her right foot. With one step always heavier than the other, she thudded along rhythmically, mindlessly humming a random tune in line with the stomp.

An indeterminate amount of time passed, the youkai either not bothering to keep track, or perhaps lacking the ability or motivation to do so. As she slowly plodded along, an archway of some kind slowly grew in her vision, rough and worn stone looking out of place when contrasting the nothing surrounding it. Lost in her own little rhythm, Utsuho paid it no mind as she trudged towards it until, in an empty daze, she stumbled through.

Posted by: Shay Cormac - 10-10-2016, 07:49 PM - Forum: The Endless Dunes - Replies (2)

Skipping the fact that Shay almost got a heatstroke at least twice in the multiple hours he had been traveling, not to mention his sudden inability to feel his feet at the moment, Shay did reassure himself that the traveling to Nippur on foot a second time was much easier than the first. Wiping the sweat from his brow, the man dragged his feet up the familiar dune that Shay had walked on many weeks ago to get a good view of the golden city now in ruins.

Emphasis on the ruins part, Shay could already see smoke rising from the general direction of Nippur. A knot tied in his stomach, and Shay, finding a sudden surge of energy, quickly jogged up the dune in question. Almost tripped a few times getting there, though eventually, he got to the top. Looking onward, the city itself wasn't exactly what he remembered. It was still intact however, and that gave the Templar some room to breathe. Victor was beyond right though, Shay really shouldn't have let this city loose.

Hopefully Gilgamesh wouldn't have minded the absence, since Shay knew he couldn't have done much alone at the time, especially in the state he was in, but... now, Shay felt he had to do something now.

The hot sun of the Endless Dunes only seemed to get hotter the closer Shay got to the city gates. The guards, still standing ever so valiantly, seemed to be in the middle of conversation, pointing at the Templar running towards the borders of Gilgamesh's province. They knew it was a member of New Babylon, but... something concerned them.

Shay gulped, or at least, tried to with his mouth so parched and dry.

The Templar slowed, and he could smell ash in the air. It wasn't much, but it was enough to put the man on edge. The guards, patiently opened the large, hulking gates on one of the sides of Nippur, but... Shay had to make his presence clearer. Putting his hand on one of the guards' heavy pauldrons, Shay spoke for the first time in about a day.

"I couldn't find her. What's happened since I was gone?" Shay asked, looking intensely at the halberd-toting guardsman.

"We..." the man began to reply, his voice slightly shaky. He looked over at the others stationed at his post, continuing.

"It hasn't been the best," he eventually finished, "but we haven't been holding up so well. I know your orders to maintain some level of authority here when you left for all that time was clear, but not all of us know where exactly to start. A lot of thieves, delinquents and all sorts of fun-loving creatures have sprang up to commit acts of petty annoyances or borderline actions of terror."

Shay looked at him for a good moment, looking back and scratching at his somewhat rough chin.

"I don't know how exactly you all are ranked, but is your ranking of decent standing, soldier?" Shay replied, folding his arms and keeping his chest puffed out to put emphasis on this authority.

"Yes sir, I--" the guardsman began, before Shay grasped as his shoulder. Before he knew it, the both of them were walking into the city of Nippur.

"Good. Tell your higher-ups that I, Shay Patrick Cormac, will be filling out renovation orders soon. For now, keep more men in the city than outside of the gates. I was almost scared that you all were bandits that stole some fancy armor."

The guardsman stopped. He thought for a second, knowing he couldn't refuse, and he didn't want to, but...

"How do you know they'll listen to me?"

Shay chuckled lightly, looking over at the man with his eyebrow raised.

"Tell them I have Gilgamesh's word that he trusts me. And for the time being, I trust you, sir...?"

The guard nodded, about to dash out of Shay's grasp, before realizing what was asked of him. A name, ah yes, his name.

"Alfonso, sir Cormac, at your service," he answered; Alfonso bowing soon after.

"Good, then go."

Shay let go of the armored man's shoulder, before looking forward. He had only walked a few feet within Nippur's borders, but Shay already saw quite the welcoming party for him.

A few civilians, however scattered this time, seemed to have taken notice of him a good distance away. The Templar remembered how many civilians there were in comparison to the last time he was in this exact spot; it was scarily underwhelming for a city of this nature. Sighing, Shay looked onto Gilgamesh's towering palace in the distance, shielding his eyes from the scalding hot sun above him. He began walking even further this time, only a few seconds later, a memory popping into his head.

Yes, Victor would need to know about this, wouldn't he? A smug grin spread across the Templar's face as he pulled out his Dataverse communicator. His fingers were much quicker on the device this time.

But... for a moment, he slowed.

Nippur. What a beautiful sight it really was, even now. Shay didn't realize it until now, but... As terribly uncomfortable as it was to be here, it was at the very least interesting, and the closest place the man could call home in this strange realm of existence. Though, it did look really ugly now, no offense to Gilgamesh. Thankfully Shay knew a thing or two about real estate business.

Either way, first thing's first; get the civilians back in shape, get morale up, and of course, get the rest of New Babylon back into their territory.

The thought of Agnès crossed Shay's mind again. He felt much worse ever so suddenly, but he couldn't let that get to him. Not when he was already here. That, and, these people don't deserve to be abandoned and left to fend for themselves so far from their homelands. That all being said however, as much as Shay knew how to manage a crew, he'd need a little bit of help to manage a city.

And, looking down at the little buttons he pecked with his fingertips forming a message to be sent to Victor Wolfe, wherever he was; Shay would get that help soon enough.

Okie-Day, yes hello. Got some questions about Ascendency.

Ascendency:

So, I wanna rule the Fields. HA! No joke. I wanna be like the Aragon to his Camelot. Can I do this? If so where do I start and who do I smite? Any advice you could throw my way? I WANNA WEAR A SHINY ASS CROWN.

Message title: Follow Up

Hey, Carmel, it's Amber. Remember I nearly ripped your face off on that damned island after we crash landed? Who could forget something like that. I turned into a fucking zombie. Uh. Anyways, i was wondering if you wanted to meet up some time. It would be a lot easier to have a conversation with you when I'm not starving for flesh and losing my own.

I have a base in the Frozen Fields close to main gain. If you find yourself in the Fields, follow the main path until you find an icey fortress. That is my home. If I'm not in, find a man named 'Murasaki' or one of the two girls named 'Rose' or 'Bianca'. Tell 'em I sent you personally and they'll shoot me a message. Hope to hear from you soon!" -Amber
