Roarin Keenblade - Roarin Keenblade - 10-11-2016 Character Name: Roarin Keenblade Character Source: Dungeons & Dragons 3.5e, various source books Character History: The Tribe of Mount Miardar is lead by Yimna Trueblade, Roarin's great aunt. From a young age, he joined the masses in admiring the elder. She was the first to rise above the simple life of the Barbarian and attend the Warrior's Guild run by the Dwarves that made home inside the very mountain that held the Tribe's village. Yimna's impressive prowess as a Swordsage - in both knowledge and fighting skill - held promise to take the barnarian Goliaths and turn them into something greater. Roarin wished to follow in her footsteps, but not by becoming a carbon copy. As with all Goliaths, he had the competitive nature that made him want to surpass the Chieftain, despite being fifth in line and unlikely to ever take the title. He dabbled both as a Swordsage with the Dwarfs, and as an Artificer with the humans that dwelled in the valley below. He even trained under a Samurai, though he would never choose a liege, making him one of the few Wandering Samurai trained by traditional methods. By the age of fifteen, he had already inspired half of the fifty youths in the village to branch out and learn from Masters other than crude barbarians. He was surprised to find writing becoming a widespread interest, where before most Goliath would never know what a quill is. He was proud of himself. His kin were proud of him. Some so proud, that by this time they had stepped down and he had gone from fifth in line to third. Not that he would ever be Chieftain. With his name growing, Roarin's parents stepped in. His father had arranged for a marriage between him and the daughter of his Artificer Master, a lovely young Human girl. Many might have been upset with a lack of choice, but Roarin was nonresistant. The only reason he had become a student was after saving her life. She was very lovely and rather entertaining too, making her completely tolerable as a life-companion. Stats: ATK: 4 DEF: 3 SPD: 1 TEC: 2 Proficiencies: 2000 1000 - Physical 1000 - Debuff Moves: 1500 300 - Xiucoatl's Katana [Weapon] A hand-and-a-half weapon, the Katana normally requires two hands to wield, but Roarin's training with the weapon allows him to wield it single handedly.

RE: Roarin Keenblade - Roarin Keenblade - 10-11-2016 I'd like to make some revision after looking through other posts and more carefully reading the Rules.
RE: Roarin Keenblade - Roarin Keenblade - 10-11-2016 Sorry, possibly more revisions upcoming, decided to ask questions and found out some abandoned ideas were actually plausible... I might just redo the sheet, considering only the name, background and stats are definite keeper... Might avoid the healing till higher level. RE: Roarin Keenblade - Mark - 10-11-2016 Feel free to edit whatever you'd like to change into the original post and just post something saying you're ready when you're finished and prepared for review. RE: Roarin Keenblade - Roarin Keenblade - 10-13-2016 I forgot to post it last night, but I'm done making adjustments. I think I'm well within the rules now (and with all future plans.) RE: Roarin Keenblade - Mark - 10-15-2016 When exactly in your character’s history were they taken to the Omniverse? Was it right after this engagement, or some time later? Katana: The base form of this weapon is good, but you’ll need to explain the fire effect a bit more. Does it require a charge time? What effect does the debuff have on the foe? How draining is it on the user? I would give this thread a read as it goes over this process quite thoroughly. Try to be as explicit as possible. Wakizashi: Much like the Katana, the base form is fine but the Frost effect will also need to be spelled out. Artificer Spell List: Not entirely sure what is meant here. Please write out what each spell would do and we can price them appropriately. Wolf Fang Strike: If this is just a simple swing of both swords, you wouldn’t need a move for it. If it’s more complex you’ll need to give me more details. Some of the minutiae you’ve listed at the bottom is a little confusing to me as I don’t play D&D. Are stances some kind of move you’ll be adding in the future? The weapons blurb seems fine to me if you want your weapons to work like that. Fodder is also fine, but I’m a bit confused by the Infusions part. I assume it’s how you’ll be explaining some of your moves maybe? Lastly the notes section just seems to be behind the scenes stuff for your benefit, correct? Just making sure. RE: Roarin Keenblade - Roarin Keenblade - 10-15-2016 Flaming: The Flaming effect does not require charging, it is simply a passive effect. The damage is quite minor, with the bulk being simply from the strike. However, it tends to leave foes ablaze. One strike is not enough to burn an enemy to death, but to put out a fire an enemy must stop and attempt to pat it out, roll on the ground or snuff it with any available water. Multiple strikes add to the fire, for accumulative damage. Frost: The Frost effect does not require charging, it is simply a passive effect. The damage is quite minor, with the bulk being simply from the strike. However, it tends to chill the blood, causing the foe to slow down slightly. Repeated strikes can cause hypothermia or a target to turn to minced ice. Unlike Flaming, Frost does not add Damage over Time. Artificer Infusions is empty at the moment, I was going to add something but thought I'd focus more on the weapons for now. Wolf Fang Strike is a maneuver involving swinging both swords simultaneously with great skill. Blocking or dodging the attack is usually quite difficult, considering the amount of strategy put into the strike. As fodder, I did not qualify for any stance I liked, so I did not add one. I might change those to Powered Up moves... Infusions is just a fancy way of saying "temporary enchantment on weapon." I was going to use it to boost the aforementioned Flaming to a more devestating effect for a shorter burst of time. Yes, the notes stuff is just for my benefit, but anyone who does play 3.5 might get a kick out of the whole thing. It's sort of a "This is the path I want to go" and a few fodder rules, such as "No crossclassing mid-level." RE: Roarin Keenblade - Roarin Keenblade - 10-15-2016 Sorry, forgot to respond to the timeline question... I wanted to do my entrance with a bit of flashback, to more in depth describe it. Long story short, after his arranged marriage by about a month, she is slain by people in his own village. Roarin took vengeance, and for his actions against his own kin he was minor-wished out of existence so he could not be resurrected, raised as an undead or reincarnated. RE: Roarin Keenblade - Mark - 10-19-2016 For the Flaming and Frost effects, I'm a little confused about damage as you say for the Fire effect that the damage is high but you mention then that the damage is rather low in your latest posts. I assume by your wording that it's high with the damage of the normal sword swing added in and the after-effect has low damage? What's the stamina drain on the user for the Flaming and Frost effects? Does the user need to maintain concentration while using it? For how long does the freeze effect last and how quickly does the effect ramp up hit-for-hit? Also, just as an aside, you won't be able to turn anyone but very weak Secondaries into chunked ice with it, as that's pretty overpowered. For Artificer Infusions you've listed a price despite it being empty which was why I was confused there. You should edit that bit out until you buy a move for it. So for Wolf Fang do you want it to be a move itself or would you rather it just be explained as the combination of two moves you already have? As it's just swinging both swords you don't need to buy a move but if you would still like to, you can do so. Also you have this listed as 600 for some reason; it would only be 300 if you want to buy it as its own move. For the Infusions, just make sure you get them approved as a move before you use them as you can't just arbitrarily add effects to weapons in graded fights and such. The rest of the OOC stuff is cool, and the history is also fine. I'd just edit it into your History to say "Roarin was taken to the Omniverse shortly after his marriage" or something similar. You can then outline the story however you'd like in your actual writing. |
