  Joining: Rasteva
Posted by: Rasteva - 10-18-2016, 01:34 AM - Forum: Joining - Replies (3)

Character Name: Rasteva.

Character source: Original. Though the 'species' is heavily based off of a creature from Mythology.

Physical description:

Anyone catching sight of Rasteva for the first time would naturally assume them to be a living individual clad in a towering suit of armor. This assumption proves to be false as Rasteva is ‘alive’  in only the most basic sense. Further still the armor they are wearing is more or less their physical form, though not their true form. It is instead a sort of prop used to interact with other beings, as most simply cannot comprehend Rasteva’s presence outside of its use.

The armor in question is of a make and material not seen anywhere else and is quite ornate in design, and stands a little over three meters tall. The Daemon's considerable size can make using doorways a bit difficult as there are many that the cannot fit through. Unsurprisingly and to the chagrin of more than a few , Rasteva has been known to walk face first through walls in order to get into buildings if it lacks a door they cannot squeeze through.

Rasteva's head is what makes up the armor's helm. A single glowing eye can be seen in the helm's visor, and often moves from side to side of its own accord. This eye is much like the armor composing Rasteva’s form as Rasteva does not need it to see. It’s instead used to make interacting with other beings easier so that they know if and when they are being addressed. Because Rasteva lacks a face in the traditional sense, they cannot be observed making any facial expressions, and anyone interacting with them will have to suffice with vocal cues in order to understand their moods. Clawed Gauntlets are what Rasteva uses for hands, and are surprisingly dexterous. This allows the Daemon to perform delicate tasks the same as anyone with regular hands.

As a result of lacking any true physical characteristics Rasteva does not have an actual gender. They simply either refer to themselves as “I” or “This one”. Rasteva will also on occasion slip into the third person, though there is no real reason as to why they do this. Rasteva does not eat drink or even sleep, though they are fond of meditating and will normally do so at night as it is the time when other beings are sleeping and so they need not worry about being bothered. While being as sturdy as one would expect for a suit of Armor, Rasteva is still capable of being injured and killed. While loss of a limb isn’t particularly painful, it’s as much of a handicap as one would assume and poses all the same issues to Rasteva as it would to a being of flesh and blood and fully dismantling them will result in death. Sufficient injury will not cause Rasteva to bleed, and instead they will begin to vent clouds of solid black smoke. This is often presumed to be the ‘true’ Rasteva leaking out of the armor, though they make no comment on whether or not this is true.

Personality

Positive personality Traits: Efficient, Stable, Intelligent, Dedicated, Dependable.

Negative Personality Traits: Ruthless, Stubborn, Predictable, Arrogant, Judgemental.

Rasteva's imposing stature, and rather terrifying appearance cause people to be wary of them at best. At worst they presume them to be nothing more than a monstrosity bent on harming anyone crossing their path. Such reactions are not new to Rasteva and they have grown indifferent to them throughout their existence, making no effort to correct anyone on the matter unless it absolutely conflicts with their personal interests and existence. Rasteva will not be found helping others without being sure that they will receive what they consider a sufficient reward in return. Doing good for the sake of good is not something they will be found engaging in, and concepts such as valor and honor are of no interest to them. The only upside to this is that Rasteva is equally uninterested in doing Evil for the sake of Evil, and makes no direct effort to go out of their way to harm others unless they feel particularly threatened, They can and will however engage in acts of evil should they find it to be most beneficial to their existence and overall goals, whatever they may be at the time.

Despite being unconcerned and indifferent to morality, Rasteva is rather even tempered and polite, often greeting others with a great deal of respect and surprising kindness. Rasteva does enjoy conversation quite a bit, and they are especially fond of gossip and stories even if they prove to be true or not. A self proclaimed collector of knowledge, Rasteva has spent countless millennia of existence travelling and absorbing as much as they possibly can. This is possibly the single most glaring loophole in their indifference as Rasteva will gladly assist someone in a given task in exchange for something previously unknown. This insatiable hunger for knowledge is something that Rasteva is unable to ignore and deny, and may very well be their sole reason for existence.

Rasteva is quite confident and self assured as most of their kind tend to be, and rarely, if ever doubts in themselves or their abilities. An exceptionally long existence has granted Rasteva with learning and experience unfathomable by shorter lived races. This of course also comes a high degree of arrogance, though they feel it to be completely deserved as many Supernatural Entities are prone to. This has also led to Rasteva being exceptionally set in their own ways, and changing their opinion on nearly anything is a hard fought battle, and more often than not is a lost cause.

History/Mythology

Rasteva has existed far longer than many other beings, and has witnessed the rise and fall of civilizations. Their true age is unknown and Rasteva has no interest in knowing what it may be. A traveller like the rest of their kind, Rasteva's existence has been spent wandering their own universe and perhaps even others in an effort to gain as much knowledge as they possibly can, all in an effort to find the core of their individual existence. It was during one of countless journeys that Rasteva was pulled into the Omniverse with no apparent way to leave. This poses a number of problems to Rasteva, the foremost being that they cannot do as their existence dictates....

(Everything beyond here is purely information for Rasteva's species as a whole. I know it's not required, but I thought it may interest a few people. I'd also be willing to take any ideas on how I can tweak and improve the whole thing.)

Rasteva is a member of supernatural entities referred to as Daemon.Despite sharing a namesake with the more well known Demons of myth and folklore,Daemons are neither inherently good or evil. Their ambiguous nature can leave many that do manage to meet one wary as their true motives are often up for debate. In actuality a Daemon's ambiguity is in reality a 'Default setting' and all of them are driven by an unknown and all consuming impulse to discover their individual nature. Defining it only as a drive to be their "Complete Self", it can range from each Daemon becoming either a complete monster like the Demons they share a namesake with, or beings of complete virtue. From the moment of their conception up until their existence ends altogether, a Daemon’s sole drive is to seek out and find the meaning of their own existence.

Daemons can and will meddle in the affairs of Mortals. This can be something as innocuous as choosing an individual to watch and learn about while remaining unperceived, or something a bit less harmless such as making their existence known and  giving people portions of their own power to see what happens.

It tends to go about as well as one would expect.

Daemons are incorporeal by nature, and lack true physical forms. The best way to describe a Daemon is not as a living being, but instead as a ‘concept’, flitting at the edges of realities but never truly making themselves known.Because they most often exist outside of the realities inhabited by mortals Daemons cannot be perceived or even fully comprehended unless they actively choose to be. The closest an individual can come to seeing a Daemon as they are will describe it as noticing a shadow flitting by at the edge of their vision, but will disappear when looked at or even considered fully. This has led to myths considering them to be the wandering spirits of the dead, and rarely divine beings such as Gods. This statement is for the most part false, though some Daemons have been able to achieve near Godlike power through unknown methods. Daemons that choose to manifest in a reality to better observe and interact with mortals are forced to take on a physical form as their existence simply cannot BE without one. Some choose to take the forms of animals, though most will disguise themselves as mortal beings. Some have even been known to take the form of inanimate objects, and each form often coincides with a particular Daemon’s goals in whatever reality they’ve manifested in and their own personal tastes. Daemons mostly adhere to the same laws of physics that other beings do in whatever reality they’ve found themselves in, and while not capable of feeling pain, they can still be injured, dismantled and killed while in a physical form.

Daemons do not adhere to a particular hierarchy within their society, if they even have a society at all. Daemons that come across each other will recognize another of their kind on sight and they will usually stop to exchange pleasantries and stories of their travels before moving on their way. Daemons do not gather together for any reason outside of chance meetings, and do not actively seek each other out unless they specifically know another of their kind to be nearby and willing to interact with them. Though their species does not possess any lands or holdings to claim heritage to, a Daemon that takes a liking to a particular reality will gladly choose to settle there.

Raumspalter (300OM): A Glaive pole weapon rivaling Rasteva in size, this mighty blade is the Daemon's favored weapon and they are rarely seen without it. The blade of the weapon is almost 2 and a half feet long and has a single edge with the end of it socketed onto a shaft 11 feet in length. Much like the Daemon's armor Raumspalter is ornately decorated, and looks almost ceremonial in appearance. Aside from its massive size, Raumspalter isn't that much different from a weapon of regular size, though its swings are more than capable of cleaving a man in two should they wind up in the wrong end of it. Rasteva claims that the blade is capable of cleaving through the fabric of reality itself, but there is no evidence backing this.

Wind Cleave (300OM): Rasteva swings their Polearm with immense strength, creating a powerful gust of wind that knocks all but the sturdiest and most surefooted individuals off their feet. This attack is a frontal cone that is 3 yards wide at it's largest point and reaches 10 yards away at maximum. Wind Cleave requires a great deal of force and effort to fully deliver and as such it is slow to move, and takes several seconds for Rasteva to recover from after preforming it. Rasteva cannot preform Wind Cleave while moving and must plant their feet firmly to deliver the blow. A blow of sufficient force can interrupt Rasteva if it is applied before they can begin their swing, and stronger attacks can even knock the Daemon off balance. Because it is delivered in a frontal cone, Rasteva's back is completely open to assault.

  The Hunt: On Ice
Posted by: Dawnika Snow - 10-17-2016, 09:41 AM - Forum: The Frozen Fields - Replies (1)

“The North Pole?” Dawn repeated. Ice and snow presumably. Dawn started to summon warmer clothing. Her father’s hoodie and some warmer leggings under her skirt. Lastly, her scarf, of course, and her beanie.

“I suppose you have a lead on our mark?” Dawn asked Kuzuru.

The demon smirked in response. “I have everything we need to find him. Let's go.”

“To the North Pole we go.” Dawn said. “I got our six.” She said watching the teams back. They moved out, Kuzuru in the lead and Dawn back. The mercenaries moved back into the Nexus. The hellish white space of nothing that Dawn hated so much. Agoraphobia was a problem with her.

“So,” Dawn broke the silence, “How about we talk about ourselves?”

“What do you think this is, an AA session?” Kuzuru laughed.

“No, you ass hat. We're brothers and sisters, and robots, in arms. How can we be good teammates if we don't trust each other.” The girl replied.

“Says the one who won't share real na-”

“Dawnika Shae Snow. Vigilante, Orphan and Master Sniper. When I was young my father died in house fire and I was put up for adoption. No one adopted me. I learned how to use a gun and killed the entire carta that burned my house to the ground and left this scar on my back.” She completely cut of the demon. “Happy now?”

“Ecstatic.” He replied continuing on. Gaige spoke up.

“Me, well, I'm from a different world.” She said quickly and kind nervously in tone. “Accidently cut my arm off, wasn't a great experience, but my dad help me make this sick robot arm that also functions as a signal for my friend there. I call him Deathtrap.” She continued. “I got in some trouble on my old planet, so I traveled to Pandora to get away and hunt awesome loot. That's why they call me a vault hunter.” Claptrap excited spoke up.

“I too am a vault hunter! My vaulthunter.exe is in work as we speak! I was made by Hyperion, only the richest corporation on in the galaxies. We sell the most amazing firearms on Pandora and Elpis. Quality Sniper Rifles! I am a CL4P-TP Steward Bot, but my friends call me Claptrap.”

“Your voice is annoying. I hope you can back that up with something.” Dawn said.

“I will do my best to prove myself to you Miss Orphan!” He yelled out gleefully. After Claptrap’s introduction, it went silent for a minute.

“Yo, Kuzuru. Your turn.” Dawn broke the silence again.

“Eh, I'm a demon. Possessed a human when he wanted revenge on a bunch of other humans. Not much else to say.” He kept it short and simple.

“Good enough.”

’What a bunch of reject losers.’ Kagetsume finally resurfaced. ’This is what I have to work with?’ Her voice echoed from the back of Dawn’s mind. Dawn whispered back.

“No asked you.” She said quietly. “Leave me alone, you piece of shit.”

’It’s only a matter of time human. Soon, you wont be you anymore.’ she disappeared to the recesses of Dawn’s mind again. The vigilante shook her head and continued on, making sure none of her group members heard her talking to herself. Luckily, it had not caught anyone's attention.

The team of mercenaries arrived at the gate to the Frozen Fields, where their mark waited. They could feel the cold air passing through the portal. When they passed through the light, the instant chill of snow and ice sliced their nerves like a knife through butter.

Dawn seemed up moved by the change in temperature, but the rest of the gang, even Claptrap felt the chills down their spines. “Reminds me of home.”

“You must be crazy! It’s freezing here!” Gaige screamed out huddled up to keep warm.

“Quit your whining. We're here on business.” Kuzuru said. “We kill Ballad then we leave.” The assassins pressed on through a blizzard. The snow flying through the air made it impossible to see further than thirty feet ahead.

“Goddammit, how are you supposed to find anything here?” Kuzuru said covering his eyes with his arm. Dawn other hand had lived in harsh conditions like this all her life.

“Look down.” Dawn said. The demon humored her, but didn't see why looking at the ground would help. After a few more steps, he noticed why. Footsteps. Not just one set either. Many sets of different shoes and bare feet.

“We're near a town. That’s the only explanation for all the shoeprints and uh, footprints? Who is dumb enough to be barefoot out here?”

“I guess we'll find out.” The team followed the footsteps. They lead to a steel structure, big one that seemed desolate at first.

’Welcome to Fort Amber.’ A male's voice spoke from a speaker. ’What’s your business here at this trading post?’

Kuzuru replied. “We're here in search of a fugitive named Ballad, a prime that has committed a crime against the Kingdom.”

’You’re welcome to come in and search for him. I think you are our first prime visitors though. Besides our founder.’ The steel doors depressurized and slowly swung open. The team of assassins walked in and headed down into the tunnels of the fort after pushing away the traders who insisted on them buying their wares. The tavern was the first thing they saw so they decided to stop and get a drink. As they walked in, the bartender Bianca noticed right away they were new to the fort.

“Hey there!” She yelled out. “Come on over and we'll sate your appetite, or take a seat somewhere and I'll send my waitress over to serve you.” The four took a seat at the bar and ordered their drinks. Dawn and Gaige got some soda. Kuzuru took something much stronger of course, would not hurt to have a drink before a fight. They had to bend some strings, but Claptrap was able to get a drink of oil to make sure his gears were ready for a fight. The team idly chatted between themselves and the bartender while they got their drinks.

  SWAPPING: Sonic the Hedgehog

Character name: Sonic the Hedgehog

Character source: Sonic the Hedgehog

Character history: Basically, after the events of Sonic Unleashed.

Physical Description: N/A

Stats:
ATK: 1
DEF: 1
SPD: 5
TEC: 3

Starting Proficiencies (1600): Physical Strength (1000), Homing (600)

Starting Powers (2500): Super Speed (1000), Burst Movement (800), Master Acrobat (400), Super Jumping (Basic) (300)

Starting Moves (300):

Homing Attack (300, requires Physical Strength and Homing Proficiency):
Sonic jumps into the air, spinning quickly, before speeding towards opponents as fast as he can, hitting them with a moderate amount of force. This attack requires two seconds of charging while in the air to use, and can home in at 5 meters ahead of him, 3 to his sides, and two behind. The attack is possible to dodge however, and if so, this leaves Sonic helpless for a while. Once he hits the ground, he can move again, but he can't use any move or transformation for five seconds. This can be used both while standing still or moving, but moving adds an extra second to charge time. This attack is moderately draining, as well, making this impossible to link together too much.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

The remaining journey to the gate that lead to Coruscant was uneventful, with only a few more questions asked courtesy of the ever-curious small blue passenger to break the monotony. The gate had scarcely come into full view and clarity before Stanek held up one hand, issuing a halt. "Now then. Before we move on any further..." He turned about, looking at Sisto and his passenger. "Apologies, but this is where you should..." He waved a hand lamely. "...well, get down, I suppose. Can't go setting a bad image of an Empire soldier playing carrier for a new arrival, even a Prime."

Graowr just blinked slowly, staring, unnervingly, at the sergeant with a look somewhere between incomprehension and disinterest. Then it finally registered in her head what exactly the problem was, and the ding of recognition was almost audible. "Oh! Okay." And she quite readily unwound her arms from about Sisto's neck, planted them on his shoulders and pushed up, hopping up and away, and landing with...remarkable grace on the ground a few paces back. "Gotta walk the rest of the way so it doesn't look like i'm taking advantage of you guys or something like that, yeah?"

Stanek just stared for a moment, the sudden display of coordination and agility a surprise after the general clueless demeanor and lack of mental acuity up until now. But then, everyone who came through here was always good at something. And all those comments about not being as strong as she used to be, and the fighting she'd done back home — wherever that might have been — suddenly made so much more sense. You didn't need to be a genius to be good at fighting, or look the part of a tough, grizzled veteran to actually be a tough...well, veteran of combat, maybe. Not so much 'grizzled' in this case.

The brief pause before his answer as he ruminated over something was not lost on Graowr, for once, and she tilted her head slightly to one side in confusion. "Did I...did I not get that right, or something?" she finally ventured. She turned aside to look at the others. "He do this often?" she asked, to which she was met with an unresponsive stare from Jayce, his helmeted gaze looking from her to his sergeant, and a not-very-helpful shrug from Sisto.

Stanek coughed once, clearing his throat. "Yes...yes, sorry. That's exactly right, though." He turned about on one heel again, back toward the gate. "Well, let's get a move on then. Coruscant awaits."

Arriving at the gate proper, the trip through it was definitely...an odd one. Graowr stumbled, and nearly introduced her face to the ground, though a quick handspring kept her upright, if a little unsteady.

"Ah, yeah...probably should've mentioned that little detail," Corbinian piped up from behind, just a trace of amusement in his tone. "Can be a little disorienting, the first couple of times you go through the gates. Sudden shifts in scenery, ambient noises and weather...sometimes even minor shifts in other things. Can really throw you for a loop."

A shaky thumbs-up was the only response from the out of sorts little prime signifying she got the message. It wasn't all that unlike the strange portals she used back home, during her trips through time to get from place to place. Of course, she'd had the benefit of being airborne and flying back then, so a lot less of the worry of the whole "tripping and faceplanting onto the ground" thing. After a few moments she was back up on her feet and looking around in wonder at the new surroundings, taking in Coruscant as a whole.

Stanek nudged her in the shoulder to get her attention. "Now, over there is where you'll want to go," he said, indicating a line of people passing through a building a short ways off. "They'll get you signed in and your arrival registered, and can point you in the right direction to get you started on your work for the EPD. We'd go along with you, but got a report to get to. Just make sure to..." He fished in a pouch at his belt for a moment, before producing a small card. "...give 'em that. It'll let 'em know we're the ones who found you. Credit where it's due and all that, y'know?"

Taking the proffered card, she just looked at it dubiously for a moment. "....okay. I can do that." She nodded, and slipped it securely into one of her gloves, looking back up to see the merry bunch that had met her at the fountain already heading quickly off in the opposite direction she'd been directed. A little sad, but she could grasp the basic idea that work never really did let up. That seemed like it was a constant.

Turning around, she headed off to the matter at hand for herself.

The cat girl approached the big gate of the green for the third time in her Omniverse career. All she knew is that she was done here for awhile. Those orks would likely attempt assassination again, horridly failing, so it would be best to just leave them alone.

The green trees and yellow sun disappeared behind her and once again the blank canvas revealed itself. Amber hated the Nexus. It was devoid of everything but bodies. Just people filling in an empty jar. It triggered a sort of agoraphobia, even though Amber wasn't agoraphobic. She took a quick look around. Had to make sure there were no Sabrina’s to jump her. Once she figured the coast was clear, she slumped off to the Frozen Field’s gate. On her way home.

The faunus took her time with the walk. She need some rest and relaxation. Lay in bed and eat a lot of sushi. Just the thought of it made her mouth water. A gentle vibration sounded from her pocket. It was Murasaki.

“Hey, Amber, how you holding up?” His voice called from Amber’s scroll. It was always comforting to hear his voice.

“I'm alright. Had a run in with a few new primes. Then got jumped by some orks. I'm bruised not much more than that though.” She said rubbing her bruised stomach.

“You sure?” He asked for reassurance.

“Yep! Just needs me some sushi and a bed when I get home. Primes seem to heal pretty quickly.” She said, keeping vigilant of the primes surround her.

“You and your sushi.”

“You and your soda.” The laughed at each other in sync. They had been friends for way too long. He was the nicest person Amber knew. Sticking up for anyone who needed it when they needed it. Even a faunus like Amber. “I'll see you back at base. Can't wait to see how looks now.”

“Alright, see you then.” The light beep noise bounced of Amber’s ear, signifying the end of the call. She pocketed her scroll and looked around. Finally the gate was within good distance. The cold tundra was always home, and it will always be home. Eager to see the doormat, Amber began to jog towards the gate. The giant portal oozed cold air. Air that she hadn't felt in way too long.

The beautiful white trees and rigid cold air greeted Amber happily. The wind from a blizzard tore across her face like tiny jagged blades. Needless to say, she loved it. She pulled away from the gate and plopped into the snow with a wide grin.

“Ahh, no place like home.” She said rolling around in the snow, not caring if she was too old for such a thing as playing in the snow. A snowball fight is something she'd join when she was fifty years old, let alone seventeen. The cold numbed her body a bit, helping take away the pain from her bruises. Deciding playtime was over, she stood up, brushing herself off and continued toward her castle. Thankfully, the faunus had summoned it close to the gate. It was only a few miles away. The blizzard made it difficult to see far, but sticking close to the trail would be enough to spot the fort when she got close enough.

A few more mile through the snow led Amber home. The shiny fort she had built was collecting snow on one wall.

“Good to be back.” She whispered to herself approaching the closed gate and looking up to the camera. The cat girl attempted to huddle into her clothes, the cold getting to her. “Yo! ‘Saki! Lemme in!” After a second, a pleasant beeping sounded and a green light flashed by the camera. The large doors swung open and Amber waltzed in.

The gate slammed shut behind her. Some kind of sound of depressurization toned behind her, like the gates were locking. Not many people were in the courtyard, but more than Amber had expected. Mostly traders who had heard about the opportunity to collect goods from other verses all in one spot. Thankfully, the blizzard was less harsh in the walls of the fort. That didn't stop Amber from going into the tunnels to warm up though.

A large crowd packed into the tavern. All different colors of people squished together in seats to tell stories of valor to other warriors while drinking ale and beer. The smell irritated Amber’s nose. Bianca called out from behind the bar. It was funny to see her as a bartender because it suited her so well.

“Hey! Amber! Get over here!” She called out leaning on the wooden counter waving to her. The cat girl quickly shuffled to the bar and took a seat on one of the stools. Bianca then reached over the counter to hug her. “I've missed you sooooo much!” She yelled out squeezing her team leader tightly.

“Ow! I missed you too, Bianca, but if you don't mind, I'm trying to use my lungs.” She said, her voice being muffled in the tall blonde's chest. The dust user quickly let go and apologized for smashing her.

“What’s it like outside the wasteland boss?” An unmistakable voice said from behind her. Rose approached through the roaring crowd who had now taken a liking to singing karaoke. The short woman took a seat on the wooden barstool next to her leader. Bandage wraps encased her hands.

“I think you mean wonderland!” Replied the faunus who spread her arms out to express her love of the tundra.

“Whatever.” Bianca said. She hated the cold with a passion.

“At least here at the fort it's relatively safe. Everywhere I've been so far, something has been out to kill me.” She said in reply, taking a drink of the soda Bianca slid her way. “Bartender suits you.” She said raising the can with a smirk. Bianca returned an annoyed glance.

“So where's the big man?” Amber asked.

“In his man cave with all the computers and cameras. Think he's waiting on you.” Rose replied opening her can of soda. “Go get ‘em lover girl.”

Amber glared at Rose. “I've told you a million times we’ve been friends for so long. It has nothing to do with a romantic relationships.” The other two girls just laughed.

“Amber. You're so adorable when you lie.” The mocking tone of Bianca’s voice nearly set Amber off. She stood up and walked off before anymore words were said. “Aw, come on?! No tip?!” Bianca yelled out.

Amber stormed down the halls to see Murasaki. It has been a long time since they had seen each other. Her mind floated through the other girl's’ words. They were just friends, but Amber’s flushed face made it seem like a big deal. Being friends was great and she liked it like that.

The big steel door to the intelligence room stood before her, and inside was Murasaki. The clanging of the door echoed through the dirt halls as Amber applied fist to steel.

“Yo ‘Saki. Let me in.” She called through the door as she banged on it. A feedback noise sounded through a speaker.

”What’s the magic words?” His voice projected from the speaker.

“Let me the fuck in.” She replied.

“Good job!” The steel door released some pressure and slowly opened up. Amber quickly stepped in and greeted the dark haired teenager. He spun around in his chair. “Yo Amber.”

“How has everything been so far?” She asked taking a look at the computers. The boy spun back around and clicked through camera.

“Our security is great right now but we hardly have any defense. A few have chosen to take house and stable pay as guards but that’s it. We could do for something better, but that’s on you and your glowy orb.”

Amber chuckled. “Well, we'll see. My powers are limited somewhat, but I should be able to spare for some mortars and better equipment.” She sat against the table and sighed. “I need to lie back a bit and take it easy.”

“Sounds good.” Murasaki replied.

“I've been thinking I that should get my name out there. If we have some influence perhaps we could get some allies for better protection.” The cat girl stretched her arms out and took her helmet off.

“I like the sound of that.” He replied. “Go get some rest. If the world is about to fall on us, I'll let you know.”

“Thanks ‘Saki. I can always count on you.” Before leaving, she gave her friend a quick hug and walked off to her room to rest for the evening.

Permission to bring along a Partner

As it looks like my star piece quest got an extension, I was hoping to get Gildarts to come along for the rest of Guu's journey so the rest of this thing won't be a slog. However, her other character is already seeking a star piece, so I thought I'd ask permission.

Would it be okay if Gildarts jumps in? He's only there for moral support and has no intention to take the star piece.

  Misery hates company!

As much as he hated to admit it, the dark lord of the Crystal Empire was not happy. Sure he had initially thought that bringing the murder train to O-Harmony would make him feel somewhat better than he did. But it didn't make him feel better. To be exact, it didn't change his mood which was well he didn't know how to describe it. His mood was a combination of rage, sadness and what he could only call a neutrality presently. Sure he had a home but it was empty of fellow ponies. Was this why he was miserable right now? Did he miss his race? Trotting out of the gate from Camelot,  King Sombra considered why he potentially could be sad. Companionship was one of the reasons that he could be miserable. After all none from his race were here and that was bound to be depressing to say the least. Of course the lack of power he possessed could also be a contributing factor.

Starswirl also didn't believe he had cast the spell properly. Sure he had done his level best on the spell but it didn't make sense. Why could he not cast a spell properly here? And why were most of his spells beyond his reach? Oh yes. Sombra had been told by Starswirl that the "Laws of Magic" in this place were different from the ones of Equestria. So magic here was different and he had to relearn every spell. Doing so was going to be a major pain in the flank because Sombra didn't have time to relearn everything. O-Harmony may have been dealt with by him, but he had work to do. Work that involved Deadpool but in order to do that he would need something he didn't have.

This was actually something he couldn't get with Omnilium. Sure he could make secondaries, but he needed those who could think and fight. In short he needed ponies or bipeds that were loyal to him. What he needed were knights of his own that he could empower with all the powers of darkness he possessed. Sure it might not be easy to do so. But he was bound and determined he was not going to leave his fortress undefended. The traps he'd put up were ineffective for some reason, and he needed to figure out why. To be completely honest with himself, he had a lot of work he needed to do. By Faust,  he had a lot that needed to be done.

When he had finally gotten back to the Fountain he started to look around.

"Where do I go from here?"
