Home is where you hang your helmet.

The cat girl approached the big gate of the green for the third time in her Omniverse career. All she knew is that she was done here for awhile. Those orks would likely attempt assassination again, horridly failing, so it would be best to just leave them alone.

The green trees and yellow sun disappeared behind her and once again the blank canvas revealed itself. Amber hated the Nexus. It was devoid of everything but bodies. Just people filling in an empty jar. It triggered a sort of agoraphobia, even though Amber wasn't agoraphobic. She took a quick look around. Had to make sure there were no Sabrina’s to jump her. Once she figured the coast was clear, she slumped off to the Frozen Field’s gate. On her way home.

The faunus took her time with the walk. She need some rest and relaxation. Lay in bed and eat a lot of sushi. Just the thought of it made her mouth water. A gentle vibration sounded from her pocket. It was Murasaki.

“Hey, Amber, how you holding up?” His voice called from Amber’s scroll. It was always comforting to hear his voice.

“I'm alright. Had a run in with a few new primes. Then got jumped by some orks. I'm bruised not much more than that though.” She said rubbing her bruised stomach.

“You sure?” He asked for reassurance.

“Yep! Just needs me some sushi and a bed when I get home. Primes seem to heal pretty quickly.” She said, keeping vigilant of the primes surround her.

“You and your sushi.”

“You and your soda.” The laughed at each other in sync. They had been friends for way too long. He was the nicest person Amber knew. Sticking up for anyone who needed it when they needed it. Even a faunus like Amber. “I'll see you back at base. Can't wait to see how looks now.”

“Alright, see you then.” The light beep noise bounced of Amber’s ear, signifying the end of the call. She pocketed her scroll and looked around. Finally the gate was within good distance. The cold tundra was always home, and it will always be home. Eager to see the doormat, Amber began to jog towards the gate. The giant portal oozed cold air. Air that she hadn't felt in way too long.

The beautiful white trees and rigid cold air greeted Amber happily. The wind from a blizzard tore across her face like tiny jagged blades. Needless to say, she loved it. She pulled away from the gate and plopped into the snow with a wide grin.

“Ahh, no place like home.” She said rolling around in the snow, not caring if she was too old for such a thing as playing in the snow. A snowball fight is something she'd join when she was fifty years old, let alone seventeen. The cold numbed her body a bit, helping take away the pain from her bruises. Deciding playtime was over, she stood up, brushing herself off and continued toward her castle. Thankfully, the faunus had summoned it close to the gate. It was only a few miles away. The blizzard made it difficult to see far, but sticking close to the trail would be enough to spot the fort when she got close enough.

A few more mile through the snow led Amber home. The shiny fort she had built was collecting snow on one wall.

“Good to be back.” She whispered to herself approaching the closed gate and looking up to the camera. The cat girl attempted to huddle into her clothes, the cold getting to her. “Yo! ‘Saki! Lemme in!” After a second, a pleasant beeping sounded and a green light flashed by the camera. The large doors swung open and Amber waltzed in.

The gate slammed shut behind her. Some kind of sound of depressurization toned behind her, like the gates were locking. Not many people were in the courtyard, but more than Amber had expected. Mostly traders who had heard about the opportunity to collect goods from other verses all in one spot. Thankfully, the blizzard was less harsh in the walls of the fort. That didn't stop Amber from going into the tunnels to warm up though.

A large crowd packed into the tavern. All different colors of people squished together in seats to tell stories of valor to other warriors while drinking ale and beer. The smell irritated Amber’s nose. Bianca called out from behind the bar. It was funny to see her as a bartender because it suited her so well.

“Hey! Amber! Get over here!” She called out leaning on the wooden counter waving to her. The cat girl quickly shuffled to the bar and took a seat on one of the stools. Bianca then reached over the counter to hug her. “I've missed you sooooo much!” She yelled out squeezing her team leader tightly.

“Ow! I missed you too, Bianca, but if you don't mind, I'm trying to use my lungs.” She said, her voice being muffled in the tall blonde's chest. The dust user quickly let go and apologized for smashing her.

“What’s it like outside the wasteland boss?” An unmistakable voice said from behind her. Rose approached through the roaring crowd who had now taken a liking to singing karaoke. The short woman took a seat on the wooden barstool next to her leader. Bandage wraps encased her hands.

“I think you mean wonderland!” Replied the faunus who spread her arms out to express her love of the tundra.

“Whatever.” Bianca said. She hated the cold with a passion.

“At least here at the fort it's relatively safe. Everywhere I've been so far, something has been out to kill me.” She said in reply, taking a drink of the soda Bianca slid her way. “Bartender suits you.” She said raising the can with a smirk. Bianca returned an annoyed glance.

“So where's the big man?” Amber asked.

“In his man cave with all the computers and cameras. Think he's waiting on you.” Rose replied opening her can of soda. “Go get ‘em lover girl.”

Amber glared at Rose. “I've told you a million times we’ve been friends for so long. It has nothing to do with a romantic relationships.” The other two girls just laughed.

“Amber. You're so adorable when you lie.” The mocking tone of Bianca’s voice nearly set Amber off. She stood up and walked off before anymore words were said. “Aw, come on?! No tip?!” Bianca yelled out.

Amber stormed down the halls to see Murasaki. It has been a long time since they had seen each other. Her mind floated through the other girl's’ words. They were just friends, but Amber’s flushed face made it seem like a big deal. Being friends was great and she liked it like that.

The big steel door to the intelligence room stood before her, and inside was Murasaki. The clanging of the door echoed through the dirt halls as Amber applied fist to steel.

“Yo ‘Saki. Let me in.” She called through the door as she banged on it. A feedback noise sounded through a speaker.

”What’s the magic words?” His voice projected from the speaker.

“Let me the fuck in.” She replied.

“Good job!” The steel door released some pressure and slowly opened up. Amber quickly stepped in and greeted the dark haired teenager. He spun around in his chair. “Yo Amber.”

“How has everything been so far?” She asked taking a look at the computers. The boy spun back around and clicked through camera.

“Our security is great right now but we hardly have any defense. A few have chosen to take house and stable pay as guards but that’s it. We could do for something better, but that’s on you and your glowy orb.”

Amber chuckled. “Well, we'll see. My powers are limited somewhat, but I should be able to spare for some mortars and better equipment.” She sat against the table and sighed. “I need to lie back a bit and take it easy.”

“Sounds good.” Murasaki replied.

“I've been thinking I that should get my name out there. If we have some influence perhaps we could get some allies for better protection.” The cat girl stretched her arms out and took her helmet off.

“I like the sound of that.” He replied. “Go get some rest. If the world is about to fall on us, I'll let you know.”

“Thanks ‘Saki. I can always count on you.” Before leaving, she gave her friend a quick hug and walked off to her room to rest for the evening.

The faunus sighed heavily in relief. It was about time she got to lay down and relax. She hung Razorback up on the weapon rack and piled her armor on the mannequin that resembled herself. It was not the best likeness but she did not care either way. It was then the young girl realized how dirty her clothes under the armor were. She had been sweating and collecting dirt on her shirt and skirt. The dresser in the corner of her room held a small white dress which she exchanged for her current attire. Amber dropped her clothes on the floor and headed to the adjacent bathroom where the shower awaited her.

The hot water hit Amber’s back somewhat hard. It did not hurt from the heat but the pressure was enough to feel like it was massaging her spine. The tense knots her back slowly unraveled.

“Ahhh, that feels great.” Amber whispered to herself. She took her time in the shower before getting out and putting her dress on. Next was something she had been waiting for for far too long: Sushi. The sweet taste of beautiful fish wrapped into a cute little circle. It was like chocolate candy to her.

She sat on her bed and took the time to summon a whole box full of California rolls and a few assorted rolls like Dragon and Rainbow Rolls. The wait was worth it too. Like a fat kid in a cookie store, the faunus scarfed down the rolls, enjoying herself too much. The thought of being safe from death was beautiful along with the sushi.

Amber’s attention turned to the bruises on her body. The pain had subsided mostly, but that does not mean she was in her best health. She would be cooped up for awhile if they did not heal soon. Or, perhaps she could heal them herself? She looked down at her jacket, wondering if the power of health could work like how she summons things. The faunus reached down to her hoodie and pulled out the Omnilium orb. The heat it resonated was comforting. Applying it to her stomach, she focused on her bruises to rid them from her body. It took about ten minutes but the warm heat from the orb seemed to heal her wounds. Even the pain in her nerves was drove off. This was a power that Amber surely abuse.

After healing up and finishing her lunch, the faunus laid back in bed. Primes never got tired or needed sleep, but that does not mean catnaps were something of the past. She curled up under the covers and let herself give in to the dream world.
