Please call them by their proper name.
Typefaces.
Different Typefaces, such as Helvetica or Garamond, can be used in different fonts, such as bold, italicized, narrow, etc.
Do it for the children.

Not to pry too much, but I have to agree with Utsuho here. Why exactly do you want new typefaces/fonts added in, and how would that benefit the rest of us (if it's safe to ask that kind of question)? Just curious.

Would allow us to format our posts differently, plus some of the formatting from say Microsoft Word, or Google Docs could carry over to this site.

As long as we're being anal, font and typeface are used interchangeably. He wasn't incorrect.
Changing your posts to anything fancy would make it harder for staff to read and judge. They need their eyes y'know.

On top of that, I'm not sure why stories need gimmicky typefaces to add interest. Hemingway had no need for Impact, Rand didn't distinguish dialogue with Applescript; we should aspire to overcome the temptation to use shortcuts in our writing.

This is a fair reason to add more of them, but I'm not convinced that it's needed. As Trixie said, too many decorative fonts would be difficult to read.
I don't know why we're on the subject of Hemingway and correct terminology, but let's refrain from delving into answers.com mode in the future, please.

Don't know about Google Docs, but I write everything in Word, and a straight copy+paste retains all of the formatting.

You are a goddamn wizard. It NEVER EVER retains its formatting for me, because word doesn't generate formatting in HTML so the forum doesn't know how to translate the text. I have to save it as a .HTM, open it in Chrome as a webpage, and copy and paste that way.
