  Early Bird MegaRoulette!
Posted by: Omni - 11-19-2016, 10:36 AM - Forum: The Whateververse, Man - Replies (60)

The whole 'pick a number' concept confused the fuck out of people last time, so just post to join. I will randomise the results.

1: Gain 10 OM.
2: Lose 10 OM.
3: Gain 20 OM.
4: Lose 20 OM.
5: Choose someone on the list (not yourself) to gain 20 OM
6: Choose someone on the list (not yourself) to lose 20 OM
7: You must watch an entire youtube video, up to 30 minutes long, of 8's choosing. You must report back with your findings to prove you watched it.
8: Pick the video. Netflix etc is okay too if they have that.
9: Change my Omni avatar to whatever you want for a week.
10: Change anyone on this list's avatars to whatever you want for a week. Yes avatarS. You can change all their accounts.
11: Get any name colour for a week. Pick from here.
12: I will write a mini-story of whatever scenario you want, up to 300 words. If it's smut, it has to be PG-13.
13: I'll write one of your characters a move. It'll be whatever I think suits them best. It MAY be silly but it will be approvable, in case you want it!
14: You must go onto RPG-Directory, make an account (if you don't already have one), and make passive-aggressive vaguebooky statuses ("I wish SOMEONE would stop sending me PMs ..." "RPGs that don't allow foxes really annoy me =/") at least once a day for the next 7 days. If you succeed, you gain 20 OM. If you fail, you lose 20 OM.
15: You must take a picture of yourself doing your best impression of this face. If you're too shy, you can do an MSpaint mockup of your character doing it.
16: Change ALL of the below person's names for a week.
17: See above.
18: Change the name of the Bossverse to anything, must be kept for at least a week.
19: Everyone ELSE on this list gets 5 OM, OR you get 20 OM.
20: Make up your own roulette reward. Use any of the others from this or the Previous Roulette for ideas. No OM gain/loss, but pretty much anything else within approval.

Once we have 20, I will determine the results.

The demon vs the robot (PvP)
Posted by: Marisa Kirisame - 11-18-2016, 07:04 PM - Forum: The Frozen Fields - Replies (5)

As Chara looked at the group fight, and spread out she saw the robot still look at her. Claptrap tried to speak to the little girl "hey why are you here and not with you're parents?" Claptrap's voice was like nails on a chalkboard and she gave a look that said; please shut up, or do I have to do it for you?

Chara continued to look around as the fire started to die down and grinned "ok it going to be time to play soon." Chara moved her knifes position to one where here thumb was on the hilt, and started to circle claptrap and waltzed around like she had already won the battle.

So I want to tell you a story before I fight you. Chara sighs and faces Claptrap and began to talk with a low tone. "So I fell down a mountain to the underground, I met my best friend there and actually found something to protect. My family, no my adopted race was stuck because of human's barrier they created. So I killed myself with around fifty buttercups, and it still took week's to kill me. When my best friend carried me to where they would also die; They were attacked by humans who did things to me; that should never have been done.

Now the fire was all but gone and Chara was grinning from ear to ear and her eyes change to bright red as with the mouth as the final bit of light around them fades into darkness.

  Shapeshifting characters? [Help request]
Posted by: Amaterasu - 11-18-2016, 11:06 AM - Forum: The Whateververse, Man - Replies (9)

As the title implies, I'm seeking to get a Shapeshifter as my third character. My latest consideration I am pretty sure is one I picked purely because I had binge-watched Hellsing and was still in the hype-afterglow, so to speak, but now that my head's cooled off I am having doubts.

Sooo, I would like to ask you guys for help: do you know any shapeshifting characters, be they from games, TV/anime series, movies, comics, mangas etc etc. who you think would work? (besides the Pokemon Ditto, that is)

Also just to be clear on what I mean when I say Shapeshifter, I mean a character that's able to malleate their form and appearance to a wide variety of forms. Not characters like Werewolves or even World of Warcraft Druids which have one or a handful of set alternate forms though.

Current to-do list (personal notes):

T-1000 (Terminator 2)
Mystique (X-Men)
Blood Beast (Legend of the Seeker)

Or just make an OC (in which case, what canon to put them in?)

Oh look another one of these.
I'm indecisive as all hell when it comes to just about everything, and of course now that pertains to switching my alt. At least this time I've got it narrowed down to 2.

Choice 1, an OC: The Unending, the god of the coming winter, the biting frost, the prolonging nights, and the death and decay brought on by that season. Twisted by its own power, it is no longer has a humanoid form, instead stalking the endless nights in inhabits with a quadrupedal gait. With a form reminiscent of the wendigo, it would also come to be seen as the cannibal god, driving others to eat their own kind through the long siege of winter. Despite its bestial form, however, the being is shockingly intelligent, able to communicate with man and beast alike.
To me it feels more "force of nature" than "RP-able creature" though, which makes it pretty iffy to go with.

Choice 2, from Witch Craft Works: Chronoire Schwarz VI. Though she's considered to be among the strongest of the witches in the series, she isn't conventionally powerful when it comes to magic. With very little natural magic regeneration of her own, she has to search out and gather every scrap of power she can. Despite such a handicap, she has made herself to be a very formidable opponent, so much that she carries the nickname "Dead End." Additionally, she is a big fan of maritime themes, with her Oceanic Noose, a subspace manipulation spell, creating an ocean around her.
She's lot less unconventional than the Unending. A safer pick but I'm not sure if I want to go with safe.

Once they had arrived back in the Vasty Deep, they'd arrived on a small island that had no shortage of snow.

"We must find a way to my island from here."

Sombra's side was bleeding due to the fight. The gash was nasty looking, and deep. Even his armor had been damaged by the battle, but he wouldn't admit to it, right now. Unfortunately, not even the cold of the current island they were on could soothe the agony he was in. The trolls were going to be wiped out or enslaved, preferably the latter when he got his power back.  "We have much work to be done. Come Young Pupil, let us away to my island where we will begin your lessons in the arts of dark magic. You will also obtain a communicator and a Mobile Dataverse Device of some sort."

They were going to need a boat or preferably a ship to get them the hell off this island. Sombra's plans were not going to be stopped by something as simple as an injury. Every step he took pain shot through his body like fiery lances. Sombra cursed Omni and all of his supporters to a slow and painful demise for taking away his shadow form. It was something he definitely needed back but had no idea how to regain. What was wrong with him? Was he a weakling? Apparently so in the Omniverse.

  Switching: Connor Hound ==> Aegis
Posted by: The Rogue - 11-18-2016, 06:52 AM - Forum: Joining - Replies (4)

Switching From Connor to a need character, and Connor is past 8000 OM so,

9,351-5000 = 4351/2= 2175 + 5000 = 7175 OM to start with.

Character name:Aegis

Character source: My own head :p

Character history:

There once was a egg, which was incubated alone in a sandy nest at the edge of a swamp. It's peculiar placement was due to the parents of this egg, the would be impossible hybrid of a Lightningcaller dragon and a Corroder dragon. However this egg was taken by a human who would later be known as the Founder, and also known as Teacher by the hatchling. Humans did not exist in the hatchling’s native universe, however the Founder merely stumbled upon the technology needed to transverse the multiple universes. With the technology and egg in hand, the Founder created the game called Dragon Sky.

And it became big, 9.5 million daily Players in America when the American Branch Arenas first opened their doors to the public. The hubs had two ‘gates’, one was called the Gatherer, where players were put into the real world of Dragon Sky and remained human and where they can scan and obtain unique ‘dragon data’. Then they can go to the gate dubbed the Arena answer use this data to fight in tournaments or obtain new item drops or experience from bosses coded by the Founder.

Then, a few years after the openings of the American Branch Hubs, the egg hatched. However the hatchling appeared human due to the Founder's experiments. He raised the hatchling as his own child even though he already had a son. The Founder kept the hatchling a secret until he was mentally and physically the same age as the Founder's natural son. This “catch up” period only lasted 3 years, in which the hatchling became 16 mentally and physically. At this point his aging slowed down and normalized.
After this the Founder introduced the hatchling, which he named Aegis, to his son, who only had his father as family. Unfortunately Aegis was given much more attention and patience than his ‘brother’. Then the Founder introduced them both to the game. Aegis far surpassed his brother's skill, for Aegis was from that world.

Several years passed and the Founder had to code in new challenges for Aegis, for Aegis became the world's top player.

His brother got jealous and tired for being second time the favorite, and so he decided to break into his father's files for information. Thusly he learned the true origins of his ‘brother’, so after one of Aegis’ outings in the Gatherer side of the hub, his brother hacked the gate controls and made the gate tissue Aegis into an arena to fight.

As usual Aegis won this battle, even though it was one he didn't want to. His brother then fled after burying his Dragon Sky account. Within a year Aegis’ brother Damir performed 24 hacks, and Aegis clearly handled them. After a raid and two hacks in one day in the Arena gate, Aegis walked out, but the portal took him somewhere else, somewhere clean and blank.

Physical Description:

Aegis as a Draconian stands at an imposing 7 feet 5 inches. His set of horns are taken from the Corroder, he has front facing horns that swoop down at a slight angle then flatten out a bit, they jut out till 3 inches past his muzzle. On his back he has thick and short bony spines that are surrounded by black and blue dollar coin sized scales. His legs are powerful and thickly muscled similar to his wing muscles and his tail. Even though his arms are impressive on their own they look slightly less imposing than they actually are when compared to his other muscles. His claws and talons are very similar to those of raptors. His teeth jut out to the side at a slight angle, making most visible even when he closes his maw. His wings are 14 feet across from wing tip to wing tip.

Aegis usually has a large pauldron on his left shoulder, and a sleeve of light metal scale on his right and only wears loose leggings and shin guards for bottoms, relying on his own scales as natural armor.

Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF: 2
SPD: 3
TEC: 2

Starting Proficiencies: Physical Strength (1000 OM), Ranged (1000 OM), Debuff (1000 OM)

Starting Powers: Super Speed (1000 OM), Flight (1800 OM), Master Acrobat (400 OM) (3200/9000)

Starting Moves:
Claws: 300 OM
Basic claws, retractable and 3 inches long fully extended, going down to 1.5 inches fully retracted.

Lightning Arc : 300 OM

(Requires Range and Debuff)

Thanks to his parentage Aegis inherited both breath weapons. Thusly from the Lightningcaller he received the ability to spew lightning. Each arc is slightly random, and sometimes the arcs branch off at the end of the path. Although the arcs can be predicted as they have the tendency to go towards conductive materials. A successful hit on a weak opponent can cause full paralysis for up to a 5 seconds. An arc can reach up to 30 feet.

Acidic Spray: 300 OM

(Requires Range and Debuff)

Thanks to his parentage Aegis inherited both breath weapons. Thusly from the Corroder he received the ability to spray acid. This acid is strong enough to chew holes into most materials within 6 seconds of contact. However the spit oxidizes rather quickly, becoming neutral in 8 to 10 seconds. However within this 8-10 and after starting out strong, the acid weakens and slows overtime. The spray can reach up to 20 feet.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct. Yes

Where did you find us? I'm merely changing characters enby! I didn't expect an Inquisition!

  Intelligence: On Ice!

The duo slipped through the gate, Kelly nearly slipped from the ice. Amber jumped into the snow eagerly. Nothing like the chills of half frozen water to get your spirits up. Although Kelly couldn’t disagree more.

“How can you stand being in the snow like that?” He asked, waiting her to finish whatever it was she was doing.

“Like I said, born and raised on ice. You tend to develop a certain fondness to the cold.” She replied standing up out of the snow and dusting herself off.

“I see.” Was the only response could offer at this point.

“So, tell me about yourself Kelly. Where do you come from, what's your angle?” She asked taking off down the snow covered trail. “It's not far til the fort, but the cold can be taxing if you're not used to it. Try to stay warm.”

I'll See You Again, At the Beginning of the Cycle
Posted by: Celestia - 11-16-2016, 09:42 PM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

The first thing Celestia did, on awakening from her arrival, is shake herself off.  She felt stiff, as though she'd been asleep too long, and needed to get some life back into her limbs before she would be fully comfortable on her hooves.

Dying took a lot out of a pony.

The second thing she did was look around.  The landscape was...efficient.  Save for a few terrain features, the place Celestia had ended up in was solid white.  It wasn't blinding, but it was sufficiently uniform that when she looked out toward the horizon she couldn't tell where the 'sky' ended and where the 'land' began.

This made the few features of the realm all the more noticeable, the fountain foremost among them.  It was a mighty edifice, made of an aged stone.  It reminded Celestia slightly of a castle with its spires and buttresses, made in an intricate pattern with several geysers and trickles of water emerging at regular points around it.

Still, at the end of the day it was just a fountain, and before long Celestia's gaze shifted.  Off in the distance, she could make out the shapes of several large doors.  She hadn't been told what their purpose was, but she could make an educated guess.  She doubted that watching people wander around the same empty, white space would be entertaining, so presumably those would lead to other places.  Arenas, if nothing else.

Celestia mused on what Omni had said to her.  For the moment she was more interested in exploring the place she found herself in, learning of the peoples and probing the limits of this new plane, than she was in gaining power.  All the same it was an asset, and thus not something to be thrown away, particularly when in an unfamiliar and possibly dangerous place.  Besides, there was no safer place to practice a new ability than an empty white void.

Celestia took a breath to centre herself, and then she concentrated.  She had chosen something simple, not having any particular need at the moment.  So rather than something of a particular purpose, such as weapon or tool, after concentrating for for several minutes what appeared in front of her was a small slice of cake.

Her goal accomplished, Celestia happily consumed her impromptu snack.  It just the right amount of sweet, and very delicate: everything she imagined it would be.  And that was all she felt the need do do with Omnilium just yet.  She had her basic familiarity with, and could be reasonably sure that she wouldn't already hurt someone, or herself, by using it.

There was no point in standing around any long, not when there was a world to explore.  Celestia began to walk.

  Beyond the Mountains of Madness
Posted by: Jade Harley - 11-16-2016, 06:48 PM - Forum: The Frozen Fields - Replies (26)

“Halt!”

Brandon and his team of sled dogs came to an abrupt stop, ice and powdered snow scattering under their paws as sharp yips and barks pierced the air. Standing before them was a wide, rectangular shadow— a colossal gate, Brandon realized, lined on both sides by pale pillars that appeared to simply vanish whenever the blizzard raged too fiercely.

Three other teams of dogs and men soon joined him, slicing through the silvery layer of frost with a hiss, their sleds laden down with supplies and materials for camping during the night. An immense tankard of fiery orange-spiced grog was included among their other provisions, and Brandon couldn’t wait to take a hearty swig once they arrived at the gates of Dwarveholm— if the dwarves were amiable enough to let them camp out on their doorstep, anyway. The journey ahead would surely be a long one without that brief spell of respite.

Whistling to his dogs to quiet, Brandon’s fur-lined boots crunched in the snow as he signaled for the leader of his guard, Captain Laurence Tell, to join him.

Captain Tell’s skin was lighter in color than Brandon’s, which made his discomfort in the freezing cold all the more obvious. His nose, ears, and cheeks were painted a bright red, like an apple freshly-picked, and the fur wrappings on his arms and torso flapped in the wind as he strode over. Brandon balked somewhat in the face of the Captain’s sour expression, but quickly regained enough composure to gesture for their light to be brought to the fore.

Tell brandished the lantern they had brought on their journey, the cloth inside already soaked through with oil. With a strike of two dark stones it was set to a brilliant, hungry blaze that lapped against the glass encasing it. Together, the two men stood before the mighty gateway, their lantern flickering in and out of sight like a firefly caught in a thick fog. Then, with not much else to do, they waited. And waited. And waited.

Tiring of this waiting business soon enough, Brandon frowned. “Hello?” he called, then raised his hands and cupped them around his mouth. “Hel-lo!”

After several minutes of waiting, cold and shuddering in the practically knee-deep snow, a dark blur shifted atop the ramparted watchtower settled beside the gate. A voice reached Brandon’s ears, “Hallo! Who’s this?”

“It is I, Sir Brandon Marshall the astronomer, and these are my worthy companions and the finest knights of Camelot. This is Dwarveholm, yes?” Brandon’s words rang out, voice slightly dampened by the falling snow and the cascading shadows of the mountains. His cloth-wrapped hands chafed against his crossed arms, stiff fingers rubbing severely into the numb flesh there.

A weighted pause. Then, “This is Dwarveholm, the domain of King Bruenor Battlehammer.”

Brandon breathed a sigh of relief; they had indeed found their way to the gates of Dwarveholm. The whispering of the scholars held true. His spirit very much improved, Brandon raised his chin to gaze up at the tower’s nest head-on. “Go and tell your king that we have been charged by Omni with a most sacred quest. If he will give us food and shelter for the night, he may join us in our quest for a magnificent artifact.”

“Well, I’ll ask him, but I don’t think he’ll be very keen….” The—dwarven? Was that the politically correct term?— guard replied, a certain hesitance to his words.

Captain Tell shot the astronomer an incredulous look, his lips downturned and brows furrowed. Tell always seemed a little bit angry about something, come to think of it; he was a soldier weathered by many seasons, wrinkles etching a permanent, deep frown across his forehead and chapped lips, and not many of Brandon’s jokes could rustle a laugh out of him. Brandon often wondered if it was a talent that he had acquired with age. The man was a certified hardass.

Shifting nervously under the Captain’s watchful eye, Brandon again raised his voice to be heard over the howling of the winds, “And why is that?”

“He’s already got one, you see?”

“What?”

One of the other warriors standing behind Captain Tell surged forward and, the pommel of his sword swaying against his hip, gripped Brandon by the elbow and whispered urgently under his breath, “He says they’ve already got one!”

The dark-skinned astronomer exchanged a look with Captain Tell. How can this be?

“Are you sure he’s got one?” Brandon asked, because really— one had to be sure.

“Oh, yes, it’s very nice—“ the dwarf said. He then turned to his companions settled in the watchtower beside him, unbeknownst to the astronomer and his guard. The young dwarf’s mischievous grin was evident through the thick auburn scruff on the lower half of his face, “I told him we already got one.”

Brandon scratched the side of his head, completely at a loss for what to do. “Well, uhm, can we come up and have a look?”

“Of course not! You are…. Camelot-types!”

“Well, what are you then?”

“Ah’m a dwarf! Why d’you think ah haff this ou’tra’geous ac’cent, ya silly ast’rono’mer!”

The astronomer blinked. He hadn’t really noticed much of an accent, at least not up until now. This must be some kind of joke.

“What are you doing all the way up there if you’re a dwarf?” Captain Tell asked gruffly, obviously skeptical of this watchtower-bound dwarf. Brandon noticed that his arms were now folded across his chest, a sure sign that the old captain wasn’t pleased.

“Mind your own business!”

Brandon sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. He spoke lowly, but just loud enough for his companions to hear, “I believe he is pulling our collective leg, so to speak.”

“You think?” Tell grunted, surprising Brandon by seeming grouchier than he had ever seen the good captain before. “Look, let’s just camp out here for the night. If those bearded hooligans decide to make a move, we’ll give ‘em what for. ‘Sides, it looks like a fresh storm’s rolling in.” He said this while looking up at the mountaintop, his lips twisted downward in that ever-present frown.

A young, female voice called out from behind them, startling the men from their thoughts, “A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition!”
