  Joining: Lilith
Posted by: Lilith - 05-08-2017, 04:53 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (3)

Character name: Lilith

Character source: Borderlands (video game series)

Character history: She’s taken from Borderlands 2, immediately after she manages to teleport Sanctuary.

Physical Description: [Image: dfGS10w.jpg]

Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF: 2
SPD: 2
TEC: 3

Starting Proficiencies: Physical Strength (1000 OM), Ranged Proficiency (1000 OM), Area Attack Proficiency (600 OM)

Starting Powers: Stealth (1200 OM)

Starting Moves:

HX 440-8 Double Anarchy SMG (Ranged Proficiency - 300 OM)

Click here for some small, vague visual representation!

Lilith’s weapon of choice, the Double Anarchy SMG is uniquely designed to fire at a high rate--approximately four 9mm bullets per second--and to be fairly easy to reload; however, its most obvious drawback is that it lacks long range, effective only at a range of thirty meters because of its wide spread. It only has one firing rate. Each magazine holds fifty-two (52) bullets, and Lilith can hold three magazines at a time. Ease of design and experience has made the reloading process roughly three seconds long, and she can summon more in a matter of minutes, making it inefficient and impractical to do so in the middle of a fight. Appearance-wise, it's nothing special--a dark gray sub-machine gun with a scope, though the scope can't compensate for the poor spread and barrel accuracy. It just zooms on things roughly two times.

Phasewalking (Area Attack Proficiency, Stealth - 300 OM)

Lilith’s primary power as a Siren is called “phasewalking.” Through concentration, she fades from sight and can move at any speed she’s typically capable of for approximately six seconds. At present, the ability only makes her invisible for its duration, so she can take damage while it’s active. The phasewalk takes so much concentration that she can’t do sustain it after making an offensive action. Additionally, when this power activates and deactivates, it sends an energy blast in a translucent violet sphere around her body, dealing a moderate amount of damage to anyone in her immediate vicinity (approximately a five foot radius). It's relatively tiring to use, and she needs to rest and recharge her energy after using it for roughly a minute. It can't be used in rapid succession, but it's good for a quick escape as well as for crowd control.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

Where did you find us? I’ve been aware of the site for a long time and have attempted to join on two separate occasions, so I’m hoping the third time is a charm. Specifically to this time around, however, I found it through RPG-D.

  (Flashback) Zenith Origins
Posted by: Alex Mercer - 05-08-2017, 04:51 PM - Forum: The Astral Realm - No Replies

It was two in the morning; no one in their right minds would wonder the woodlands at this hour. It was a good thing a young Zack Wilkinson was not always in the right mind. The headstrong young man was out on an adventure to see what had fallen from the sky. The glowing streak looked way too close to be just another shooting star, and the sound of thunder with no lightning had to be impact.

Zack was eager to find out what it was. The last time something fell from the sky, it had been Thor's Hammer... Well, the Hulk fell, but he had yet to hear any sound of the giant's howl. Of course he acknowledged the possibility of it being something far more nefarious. Even as he drove through the North Carolina woodlands, the roar of his four-wheeler echoing through the night, he was thumbing a text as a precaution. Coordinates, distant observation and what to do if he did not respond in the next twenty four hours.

Text complete, he tucked his phone away and accelerated towards his goal. He had seen it fall into his yard, but when said yard is over a hundred acres of wooded mountainside, finding things became a bit more difficult.

"Aww, hell..." The four-wheeler slowed and Zack grumbled a few more curses under his breath. Aside from his gasoline-driven steed, everything was quiet. The world held its breath after the rolling thunder and the approaching climax of its source's discovery. Or at least, that's how Zack's mind fantasized it. He had a flair for the dramatic, which only reinforced his need for adventure.

The smell hit him almost all at once. Smoke. It was rising up the mountainside. He turned and took off, heading down the incline. At first the smoke was thin, little more than a hint, but it quickly thickened. His lungs burned and his eyes watered as the air turned brackish black. The impact had set trees on fire; live wood burned black smoke. "Common, don't do this to me..."

Crackling and popping of burning oak matched the roar of his old four stroke engine. Survival instinct was kicking in, telling him to run away. This fire could spread, he needed to call the fire department. Just as the urge to run matched his drive for adventure, he heard something else. It could not breach the myriad of rumbling engine and crackling fire, but instead rang inside his head.

Whatever it was did not come as words. It was pure fear. He was on the outside looking in, but from that piercing presence it felt like he was burning in the flames. "Oh God," Someone's in there. He reacted before he could really think it through. Throttling the old four-wheeler, he drove through the smoke towards the fire. "Hold on! I'm coming!"

The screams in his head reacted to his voice. He could almost imagine something pleading for help. The fear of death that all living creatures possess was twofold in his head. His heart was a drumroll of excitement and terror.

The flames licked at Zack's work boots before he realized he was driving through the flames. There were small clearings that he aimed for. Keep moving. Science class taught him that the less contact he had with fire, the less trouble he would be in. At least for a little while.

"Where are you?" It was as if he was hearing an echo. When he asked, he felt pulled to the right, as if he had heard someone call out - again without any true words. "I'm here! I'm coming!" There was another echo-like pull. Adrenaline blotted out his ability to question anything. It fueled his dramatic flair, his need for adventure. The urge to be a hero was now.

Following this odd internal compass, he spotted something dark amidst the flames. It was a small crater beveled into the ground. It was just shallow enough to see to the bottom; home to the shattered remains of some voltswagon sized object. Quivering in the middle was an odd sight, what Zack could only describe as living motor oil. In his mind he knew this was what had been calling out. It was even more afraid than he was, and naive to the devestation its arrival had caused.

"Reach out!" He kept one hand on the throttle while leaning over and reaching out with his other hand. He slowed only enough so that dipping into the crater did not throw him into the broken remains.

Had he been clear headed, Zack might have questioned how the oil-monster knew what he said if it could not speak. Nevertheless, the creature quickly slithered into Zack's path and stretched upwards. It was not a hand, exactly, more like a tentacle. Tendril, maybe? Whatever it was, it was oddly cold againt the surrounding heat. It splattered as Zack tried to grab it. Instead of maintaining whatever form it had, it latched onto his arm and slithered its way up.

By the time he clefted the opposite bank, half his body had been swallowed by the frightened creature. With the adrenaline pumping, he paid no heed. The presence was reassuringly cool. It felt like a protective layer, soothing the beginnings of blistered skin as they reentered the fire. The smoke was so thick here, sight was impossible. Thrice he barely missed a tree. Breathing was impossible, Zack had started holding his breath to keep from inhaling the sufficating smoke.

And then the cold reached his jaw. Its spread accelerated. At first, Zack resisted, but when the oil covering his mouth did not stifle the shout, nor the breath it forced him to take, he was hit by an instant wave of realization. Realization and fresh air. This thing covering his mouth filtered out the smoke. When it covered his eyes, it was like a long blink. At first he was blind, but then he saw everything - it was more than a little disorienting. The smoke was not clear, but it was easier to discern the shapes of trees through it, and the heat and ash no longer hurt his eyes.

He felt good. He felt REALLY good. The fire under him was no problem to him, but the creature it was hell. Only when the screams in his head ended did Zack realize they were out of the fire. They were safe and sound. He knew he would have to change the tires and probably every plastic hose and fender. There was a heavy gratitude though. At least it did not blow up.

All at once, his thoughts turned to the creature that had almost literally swallowed him whole. "So... I could go for a bite..."

Please tell me people here are playing this gem?

It's basically a large scale battle royal ( yes like the Japanese movie).
100 people drop out of an airplane, you land, find weapons and gear and be the last man standing on the island!

Areas become unsafe, bombs will be dropped and you always walk around in fear.

Play solo, duo or in a squad, the game works great and it's still only in early Acces.

This game is a solid 9/10 for me

  Dark Rain: Part Two
Posted by: Koal - 05-08-2017, 02:52 PM - Forum: The Ashen Steppes - Replies (3)

Koal and Doom, cautiously crept through the dimly lit and cavernous hallways of Fort Cinderstone, the former holding a glowing torch high above their heads. The resulting orange-yellow glow threw long and wavering shadows that seemed to hide enemies around every corner. Occasionally, one would stop and inspect a room, the other keeping a vigilant watch for any stragglers of the Raider gang.

"I'm going into this room," Koal tapped the Doctors shoulder and motioned to a door on their right, "Keep watch and alert me if anything happens. These raiders know this place almost as well as the back of their hands." Doom nodded affirmative, and Koal slowly eased the door open. The office wasn't much, but Koal was sure he'd be able to find something of value, or maybe just some supplies. They'd need water or something else to get out of the Ashen alive. Koal found a canteen, and as he sifted through the papers on the desk, he froze as his eyes caught a name on a Manila folder.

SUBJECT XIII: Lynch, Koal

He nearly tore it open trying to open the file. As he skimmed over pages and pages of data, his mind was buzzing with questions that seemed to be popping out of nowhere.

"What did they do to me?"

"Why don't I remember any of this?"

Koal threw the file against the wall, his rage boiling over as bottled frustration and helplessness exploded outwards. His breathing heavy, he continued to sift through the papers until he found a map. The stronghold was designed so as to be a maze, to trap any who escaped inside, and a map was key to finding ones way out. And he walked out of the room, he saw Doom, with three dead raiders at his feet, a seemingly bored look in his eyes.

"I though I said to alert me if trouble came up."

"It was no trouble to Doom. I could handle simple thugs such as them a thousand times over." He scoffed, as if the very idea of a few individuals taking him down was preposterous. Shaking his head at his new companion, they pushed onwards, the two making a surprisingly effective and efficient team, searching and defending themselves in turn, and arguing over the map every so often. It was slightly nostalgic to the young Swordsman, if he was being honest. But not entirely unwelcome. So far Doom had kept to his word, so Koal would do the same.

After all, He needed Doom as much as Doom needed him.

The cold air vanished behind the misty shroud of the gates pearlescent vortex of colours. The Nexus - Again. This place was never a nice sight to Dawn. The bleak blank landscape made her want to puke. Nevertheless she took off from the ground and into the air. Her destination was home, back to Rogue and to formulate her next course of action. She had died to Ghidorah - Her first death in this world. It seemed that Omni wasn’t lying when he said death can’t stop Primes from completing their personal goals.

Flying over the Fountain of Infinity, Dawn pondered her existence in this world. She didn’t know what it was, but she would one day find it. Why she was chosen to be apart of a high breed of fighters in this world she’ll never know, though.

Within an hour, the gate to the fiery land of death stood before her, The Ashen Steppes. At the end of the verse is where her home waited; where Rogue was waiting for her. Damn, she must be starving.

Archer’s service firearm and his preferred method of attack in most instances. Chambered for .32 ACP rounds with a maximum capacity of 8 rounds per magazine, it is far from his most damaging weapon. Despite this, his expertise with the pistol makes him a crack shot, boasting needlepoint accuracy even in the midst of combat and while moving. Archer can fire at a maximum effective range of 50 meters, with shots moving the speed of the average .9 millimeter round and with a fire rate of up to 2 rounds per second if he intends to actually hit the target. He carries two spare magazines on his person as well, bringing his maximum ammo capacity to 24 rounds, though dropping a magazine and reloading takes ~ 2 seconds. He can summon additional ammo with around 10 seconds of concentration needed per magazine, as well as a mild hit to his stamina. Though this can be used with other weapons (providing he has enough hands to do so), this or anything else drawing significant concentration away from his shots will decrease the accuracy noticeable.

Unlocks: Stat Increase I (1000)

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

Chapter 8: Afternoon Brunch of Justice
Posted by: Harry Potter - 05-08-2017, 02:11 AM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (2)

Harry Potter awoke, for approximately the four hundredth time his life, in a hospital bed.

A nurse did not rush in and tell Harry that he shouldn't be sitting up, because Harry was something of a professional hospital-attendee, and so he did not immediately try to sit up when he awoke. Instead, Harry gazed at the well lit ceiling and listened to people talk about him.

"He is perhaps the most popular protagonist in history," came Vision's strange android voice. "He is also a Prime of tremendous natural power, with the inherent natural desire for good. It is written into his code, as surely as it is mine."

Harry reflected on the novels based on his life widely available at bookstores across Costa Del Sol. He had read them, and they were certainly much more than biographies, as they explained his innermost turmoil in truthful ways. Harry had grown concerned that he was a fictional character, and so consulted his spiritual adviser, the buddhist warforged Cheese Doodle. Cheese Doodle had said he found it more likely that Harry's mind was channeled by an individual in another universe. Harry liked that explanation better.

"Doesn't look too tough to me," came an unfamiliar, rough voice. "He's from a kids book? Has a magic wand and pulls rabbits out of hats? Doesn't sound like Avenger material to me."

"Well," came the exceptionally caucasian voice of Captain America. "I can't deny I think he's a good fit, but he might be a hard sell. He just saw a lot of the dark side of this game, he might not wanna step up to the plate anytime soon. Besides, he doesn't have a bat."

Harry, understanding the cricket metaphor, patted his robe pockets, and then felt a deep sinking in stomach as he touched the splintered remains of his holly and phoenix feather wand.

"Can't you make him a new one?" Marcus asked.

"Possibly," came the voice of Vision. "But it would take a significant OM investment, and it might be easier to actually pluck a feather from the tail of a live phoenix. The replacement I could give him would certainly not match his expectations."

"What about the one you got from the Wicked Witch?" the Captain asked.

"I must study it more, but somehow I doubt Harry would want to use it," Vision replied. "As a matter of fact, I have quite a few pressing matters that demand my attention. And as it seems Jarvis is nearly here with brunch, and as Mr Potter is quite awake, perhaps I might attend them while you and Marcus answer his many burning questions."

Harry sat up, eye the three Avengers across the room.

The green and yellow android he had already met.

The moody stranger with the hard face must have been the unfamiliar voice.

Harry was pretty sure he remembered the man in the star-spangled leotard as well.

"I don't think I have any questions, at least not about you," Harry said in his bizarre accent. "You are a group of a powerful primes who go around the Omniverse righting wrongs and policing the actions of your fellow Primes."

Vision smiled, and walked away. Captain America and Marcus looked at each other for a moment. Then Steve Rogers flashed a dazzling smile and walked confidently over to Harry. He sat down next to his bed and clapped a hand on Harry's shoulder.

"Got it in one, Bucko!" said the Captain, clearly impressed at Harry's deductive reasoning. Behind him, Marcus simply stared. The Captain grinned as he tousled Harry's hair. "My name is Captain America, and I'd like to personally extend you an invitation to the Avengers!"

"Thank you for liberating me," Harry said as he gazed at the star-spangled man. "But I'm afraid I don't have any oil."

Marcus chuckled as Captain America stopped his tousling.

"I only have one question," asked Harry Potter, the man who lived. "Are my friends ok?"

"Just fine!" replied Captain American jauntily. "Yeah, we got some pretty sharp docs around here. Your wookie friends won't be waking up for a little while, he lost a lot of blood, and that Marla, she's staying with him."

Harry nodded, and let himself relax a little.

"And I can't join your, uh, club," Harry added as he removed his splintered wand from his robe pocket. "I can't step up to the plate without a bat."

Captain America looked uncomfortable."You see son-"

"If you're man enough to be an Avenger, you don't need no magic wand," interjected Marcus from behind the Captain. His arms were folded over his chest. Harry stared back from behind his glasses unflinchingly. Captain America coughed.

"Can't you summon a new one?" he asked. Marcus cocked his head, interested as well.

"No," said Harry shortly. Then, "The wand chooses the wizard. I can make another wand, but then it's the wizard choosing the wand. It won't work RIGHT."

The Captain nodded solemnly. Marcus snorted.

"I don't know what the hell you just said, but I know an excuse when I hear one," Marcus said stonily.

Harry glared back. "Even if I could repair my wand, it will just get snapped again."

Marcus grinned. "So learn to fight like a man."

  Revival of a Renegade Ranger
Posted by: James Knight - 05-07-2017, 02:37 PM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (1)

Having awakened to find himself in a void of perpetual black darkness that completely obscured his vision, Veritas had to admit he was scared. His levels of adrenaline had begun to spike due to the darkness of the place alone. Yet this was not the only reason that his body began to produce more than it's usual amounts of adrenaline. No, as he tried to speak Veritas soon had realized that he couldn't. It was like he had been stripped of his ability to speak entirely by the individual who had brought him here. If he had his abilities working, or could move he was likely to attack whoever had brought him against his will to this place. Whatever this place was, that is. For he didn't know where he was, or how he had gotten here, or why he had been brought here or anything along those lines. Another attempt to speak was made by him, but it ended up failing. The words choked in his throat and refused to come out. So something about this darkness around him was preventing his ability to speak much to his annoyance right now. This was good to know and was he not in danger or so he thought he would have done a thorough study. As he began to ruminate on his situation and consider the possibilities of how he had gotten here something happened. An individual made out of pure white who appeared to be smiling had appeared in front of him. The individual described himself as Omni and said he'd only make his explanation once about the place Veritas was now in.

When "Omni" as he called himself handed over a rainbow colored orb, and described it as Omnilium Veritas was a bit skeptical. So the place reflected the wishes of the individuals, and yet those wishes could only come true through the substance known as Omnilium. And apparently, he wasn't alone because there were others like him in this blasted prison. After the darkness vanished,  Veritas awoke to find himself in a fountain that had a huge white tower growing out of it. Weird. So he had been dragged here against his will by someone who wanted to use him as entertainment. Essentially he was here to act as a "show" for the benefit of someone else. This didn't set well with Veritas and he made a mental note that he was going to have to do something about that cocky smiling bastard when he was more powerful than he had been. Feeling that he could speak Veritas attempted to do so, and at first only hoarse words came out of his throat because of how dry his throat was. Wait, Omnilium could create anything if he could believe the words that Omni had spoken to him when they had met for a short time.

Since he was the type of person who wanted to experiment anyway, Veritas first summoned a bottle of water with Omnilium to his hands and began drinking the bottle of water.

"Okay, that's much better."

Taking a deep breath his eyes began to wander around the pure white that was the Nexus. The place was too bright for his tastes and was not somewhere he'd like to spend any length of time. Due to the brighteness he had to squint his eyes as the light reflected off of the pure white
of the Nexus and hurt his eyes. Summoning some sunglasses he was quick to put them onto his face. Noticing that he was in fact naked Veritas quickly changed that and summoned a random outfit to clothe his body, so he was no longer indecent.

"So to recap, I've been brought here against my will by an individual named Omni. He seems to want to enjoy some sort of entertainment from watching me for some odd reason. No matter,  I should be able to cope with having been brought here against my will."

Seeing eight gates nearby that were probably about two hours or more walking distance away from here, Veritas sighed. He was going to have a difficult choice to make it seemed. One of the gates was guarded by soldiers in white armor that reminded him of a mass produced version of Power Ranger Technology to a degree. If they did have such a technology there, that was the logical place for him to begin. With that in mind he started trekking towards the gate that led to the world of Coruscant.
