(Preshow) Registration (Where you Sign up IC)
Posted by: Karl Jak - 06-04-2017, 12:25 PM - Forum: The Dante Verse - Replies (33)

Quote:Signup stations for Dante’s Abyss can be found in every major verse.  In most verses, these stations are located in a central hub of civilization (Minas Tirith, Tier 1, Darkshire, Costa, Carrefore, etc).

In the verses that have less centralized societies, there will be a sign-up station close to the Nexus gate.

At each signup station, an attendant will be on hand to provide you with the necessary waivers and paperwork you have to sign.  Once that is completed, you’ll have to fill out a little bio about yourself that will be used online and during broadcasts.  Then you’ll be ushered onto a recall station and sent to Syntech Station 17 (aka the Preshow Facility).

Please make sure you note in your post title what location you are registering from and make sure that you've updated your roster recently or intend to do so over the next week.

Once you post here, you may move to the Preshow Facility thread.

Note: If you think you will be unable to register ic prior to the 13th, let me know.  We can possibly working something out.

Sign ups will remain open until Tuesday, June 13th.  Day 1 will run from the 13th to the 17th.

  Awaiting the King (NPC)
Posted by: Enel - 06-04-2017, 11:40 AM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (2)

Shaiapouf covered his eyes with one hand, fingers wilted dramatically over his delicate features. “This is wrong,” breathed the noble chimera ant, voice drenched with despair. “All wrong.”

He sat in front of a public terminal in Coruscant, hunched forward so that the fringe of his mop-top blond hair covered his teary eyes, his long legs bent and resting upon the metal bars of the stool upon which he sat. With his dramatic posture and the dreamlike pastel colour of his wings, which were flared out behind him, one could have mistaken him for the subject of a painting. Certainly, many watched from afar as they passed through the brightly-lit streets of Tier One, but none stopped to inquire. None save a single police-division stormtrooper.

Weggs had been keeping an eye on the new reports from the Nexus, and recognised the Prime as one such who had been escorted by the gate-troopers to their shining city of Coruscant. Weggs was always wary of Primes, especially new ones, but this one didn’t seem to be dangerous. If anything, he looked like he needed a little help.

“Excuse me, sir,” he started. “I couldn’t help but notice you seem a little … distraught. Might I be of assistance?”

Shaiapouf didn’t react at first. He took a breath before holding a hand up, his palm as a barrier between him and the unwanted visitor. “You wouldn’t hope to understand, human.”

Weggs smiled, and although his face was hidden beneath his helmet, he hoped it carried through his voice. “I know it can be overwhelming.” His eyes glanced to the screen. “Are you looking for something? Or … someone?”

Tears actually dripped from the eyes of the chimera ant, seeming to twinkle on their descent to the white plasteel flooring. Shaiapouf drew a slender digit away from his eyes, revealing their downcast trajectory. “My King … is not here.”

“Your King …” Weggs repeated. “I see.” He took an educated guess. “You were a royal guard? A vassal, in your own world?”

Shaiapouf continued to drip. “I served the only King there ever was. King of the Chimera Ants …”

“I see.” Weggs maintained his stoic but upbeat professionalism. “Well, there’s good news. As a Prime, you should be able to summon him.”

Shaiapouf’s face rose from his hands, one eye widening. “Summon … him?”

“That’s right. As a Prime, you can …”

Weggs stopped. It was as though a crushing pressure was bearing down on him. He saw the thing before him for what it was – no human, not even human-like, despite the appearance. Beneath the veil of elegance and vulnerability was a monster. A true monster, like the kind he’d heard stories about. Demons, hellish animals that spoke the words of men.

He wanted to run, but his legs wouldn’t move. A trail of piss ran down the inside of his suit.

Shaiapouf’s beautiful face was twisted in rage. “You suggest that I … a royal guard, summon the King of Ants as a …” he spat the next word, “Secondary?”

Weggs fumbled his words. “I, I-”

Shaiapouf drew himself up to his full height, and Weggs could see that he was nearly seven feet tall. Shaiapouf threw his hand forward, and the fear in Weggs’s chest reached a crescendo. His world seemed to freeze in place as he anticipated the killing blow. This would be it. He’d been so foolish, so reckless, and now …

He winced, but the blow never came. The crushing force he’d expected. Instead, a cool wind. He felt … good. Content. At home. He had a purpose.

But how foolish he had been! To suggest that the King of Ants could ever be summoned by a mere Prime, and not Omni himself. Foolish beyond measure, and impudent. He shook his head. “Shaiapouf, I am sorry.”

“You are,” replied the ant. “And you know what your purpose is now, don’t you?”

“Yes,” muttered the secondary feverishly. “I will repent. Serve the Royal Guard. Serve the Ant King.”

He looked up to see Shaiapouf’s smiling face. What a god. How lucky he had been, to encounter a vassal of the great and mighty Ant King! Before, he had been a mere soldier of the Empire, a worker drone for a faceless leader. Now he had true purpose. He was part of something greater. He would live and die for the king of ants.

“We must make preparations,” whispered Shaiapouf. “For when the King arrives.”

Weggs nodded eagerly. “For the Ant King,” he replied in hushed tones.

“For the Ant King.”

May Monthly Accolades (Until June 14th)
Posted by: Dark Link - 06-04-2017, 09:14 AM - Forum: Bookkeeping Archive - Replies (21)

Boy, where did the time go? Welcome to the May Monthly Accolades!

For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.

You have until June 9th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.

If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.

The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:

(07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum.  In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse.  This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for Story Aides and Story Guides, so for all intents and purposes, winning an accolade lets you become a pseudo-Story Aide for the duration of your reign.

Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.

And the categories are:

‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?

‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?

Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.

Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half or have less than 8000 OM)

'Best' Dark Data Story – ElFailzalot's massive, sprawling epic covers multiple verses and several threads. As such, it is only deserving of occupying the 'Best Story' category for the month of June. But which 'Dark Data' thread stood out to you the most?

'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.

Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than last month's winner; the April winner was Dark Link)

  Meruem Moves
Posted by: Omni - 06-04-2017, 07:46 AM - Forum: The Creative Corner - No Replies

This'll be my ongoing public workshop for Meruem moves. Feel free to comment or critique!

After rewatching Hunter x Hunter I've tried to retool his aura manipulation into something closer to how it works in the show, rather than a "slow charge" maneuver. I've kept the latter ideas to use similarly to how Gon uses his jajanken, allowing Meruem to stand still and focus when he wants to go beyond x2 power.

Tail (600)
A prehensile tail that rests at slightly less than Meruem's height (held upwards or curled) but which can stretch to up to double his height when attacking. He can use it to bludgeon, block or slash with the needle-point tip. In typical supervillain manner, when showing off he'll sometimes cross his arms and fight using only his tail.

Ryu ('Flow')
Ryu is the process of actively shifting one's aura to where it is most needed in battle. Generally this means the striking portion of the body (such as the hand, forearm or fist) or the intercepting one. By anticipating where an opponent will strike, Meruem can reduce the damage taken by shifting his aura to that spot at the right time. This is  a very fast maneuver, taking less than a second to fully shift his aura to the right spot. The downside is that when he shifts a disproportionate amount of aura into a single spot, the flow of aura throughout the rest of his body is reduced or otherwise eliminated - leaving him totally defenseless and vulnerable to increased damage should the opponent change targets (ie feinting to the left, then attacking right) or otherwise attacking him where his aura is unconcentrated. The damage dealt and taken ranges from its normal, to up to double (when aura is focused entirely in a single spot).

Those with Enhanced Senses can see the flow of aura in Meruem's body. Otherwise, it is invisible. Meruem can split his focused aura between multiple areas if he wishes - for example, half to one fist, half to his other. (This might be useful if fighting multiple weaker opponents).

Gyo / Ko 'Focus' / 'Temper'
By taking his time to stand still and focus, Meruem can concentrate huge amounts of aura, up to ten times the normal concentration in a single body part. While doing this, the rest of his body is vulnerable, taking double the normal damage from attacks.

It takes half a second to increase the power in that body part to x2, another half second to x3, and so on, all the way up to x10. Meruem has to stand still to charge up, but can move without losing his accrued charge. This allows him to charge up if the opponent is distracted, then move in to land a killer blow with the charged part. Until the held aura is voluntarily released or discharged through usage, the uncharged parts of Meruem's body remain vulnerable.

Meruem could also use this defensively, by blocking a similarly-charged attack with a highly-powered fist (thus using up the attack), or using it to break through a weaker attack and continue into the opponent (this would naturally reduce some of the attack's power). Using this much aura can be very draining and it's unwise to be wasteful with such heavily-charged attacks.

Those with Enhanced Senses can see the flow of aura in Meruem's body. Otherwise, it is invisible. That said, Meruem does exhibit intense focus while charging in such a way, and has to stand still, making it harder to hide than Ryu.

Thrown Objects (Physical Strength, Ranged Proficiency) (300)

Meruem has never needed fancy abilities due to his sheer strength and innate skill. While another warrior might use a gun or a bow and arrow, if Meruem needs a ranged projectile he'll just pick up a small object like a stone and throw it with such strength and precision as to become equal to a bullet. This can be combined with Shu (below) to turn objects like playing cards into deadly projectiles.

Shu ('Enfold') (Buff Proficiency)

Meruem can extend his aura into held or touched objects, raising their strength and durability up to that of his own body. However, his overall aura has to be stretched to encompass the new volume, reducing his strength proportionately (ATK and DEF would be halved if he's trying to enfold an object the size of his own body).

This is a rather fast technique, like Ryu, taking a second or less to enfold most objects. Meruem can't imbue aura into a volume larger than his own body, but he might spread it out over a larger surface, like a wall, in order to strengthen it.

Once enfolded into Meruem's aura, an object is essentially part of his body for the purposes of Ryu, Gyo and Ko. He can use this ability to strengthen small objects like stones before throwing them. The aura imbued into an object will fade a second after it leaves his body, making it useful only for quick projectile attacks.

Writer's Note: This won't let me find any more 'incidental weaponry' than might usually be in an area. For example, if fighting in desert ruins, he might be able to find broken walls and bricks. In forests and woods, he'd probably find stones, sticks and the like. On a construction site, he might use a metal beam. Etcetera.

  To the Frozen Abyss
Posted by: Katrielle Layton - 06-03-2017, 11:49 PM - Forum: The Frozen Fields - No Replies

The demon's motorcycle plunged through the snow, kicking out clouds of icy dust in it's wake. Bendy was but a black smudge amongst the rolling hills of the tundra, but he didn't care-- he had a destination and nothing was going to stop him!

Nothing except the cold, of course.

He had ignored the chilly sensation for a while, but when his inky body threatened to freeze and solidify, he was forced to stop and summon some winter clothing. Which was a thing the imp was not at all happy with; it's really hard to look intimidating when you're wearing a sweater with little reindeer embroidered on the front.

But thankfully it didn't take him forever to find the gate to the Nexus. And he was extra thankful when he discovered the little booth that had been set up next to the gate. So his assumptions were right! He skidded to a stop, covering the front of the booth in snow and almost covering the man that was running it. He didn't look very pleased about that.

"Hey, I'm here for Dante's Abyss. Is this where you sign up?"

"Does it look like there's any other place to sign up?" The man tossed a clipboard and pen towards the cartoon, who caught it deftly. "Just answer these questions and we'll get you set up."

  Joining: Nausicaa (Chakravartin's second character)
Posted by: All Might - 06-03-2017, 03:48 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (6)

Character name: Nausicaa

Character source: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (Movie)

Character history: Nausicaa was born to Chief Jhil of the Valley of the Wind, the youngest, and only survivor, among ten children. Since she was born, she had been marked as strange by the others of her kingdom, although loved as their princess. As a child, she would venture close to the Forest of Corruption, and listen to the gentle thoughts of the insects. Recognizing this gift, as well as her skill in operating a glider, Jhil allowed her to venture into the forest as often as she wished with a gas mask, allowing her to learn some of the secrets of the poisonous creatures, and scavenge for resources the others of her clan couldn’t reach.

However, the neighboring kingdoms of Tolmekia, Pejite, and Dorok began to war against each other, and the Valley of the Wind was drawn in against their will into the conflict, and Nausicaa, taking the place of her aging father as pilot of the clan’s only gunship, became involved in attempting to stop the war.

The Tolmekians slaughtered Pejite, and stole from them an ancient biological warrior- an artificial creature meant to act as a god, with the ability to breathe nuclear blasts. When the Dorok and Pejite survivors attempted to trick the giant Ohmu insects into stampeding and destroying the Tolmekians and the Valley of the Wind, Nausicaa saved them all by ending the battle- using her telepathy and empathy to calm the anger of the Ohmu, and sending them back to the Forest. The God Warrior collapsed on its own, and for a brief time, there was peace.

She earned the trust of the Prince of Pejite, as well as the Princess of Tolmekia, and became recognized by the Doroks and other people’s of the Periphery as a Chosen One, due to her psychic powers and her ability to tame the insects of the Forest of Corruption.

Her adventures continued in the manga, but the version of Nausicaa in the Omniverse was taken shortly after the events of the movie.

Physical Description: A young woman about 17, with brown eyes, light skin, and red-brown hair. She usually wears blue dress/jacket with pockets for holding shells and various supplies, tough white gloves, as well as a pilot’s hat with attached goggles and gas mask.

Starting Powers: Master Acrobat (400 OM), Telepathy (1500 OM), Master Super Jumping (800 OM)

Starting Moves:

Smoke Shell - 300 OM - Requires Ranged Proficiency, Debuff Proficiency

Fired from a lightweight rifle Nausicaa has trained with all her life, she has become quite efficient at using it, able to load and fire in about six seconds. The rifle is designed to handle specialty ammo, using bullets than tend to be a bit larger and lighter weight than metal bullets. She must hold her arms perfectly still to aim, or her shot will be off significantly, but she has gotten good at aiming while falling, as long as her arms aren't hampered.

The Smoke Shell bullet moves about as fast as a regular bullet, and appears as a greyish-blue cylinder with a transparent conical top, the entire shell is about an inch and a half long. The shell will explode upon a hard enough impact, so it doesn't have much piercing power, but the initial hit and the very small explosion of the bullet tip will be dangerous to most people, but able to be tanked without more than a bad bruise by characters with a DEF of 3, and outright shrugged off without injury by someone with a higher DEF than that.

What makes the Smoke Shell different from any other bullet is the colored smoke that will emanate from whatever the shell hit upon impact. The shell is filled with a liquid chemical, that when it reacts with air will quickly plume outwards in a thick plume. The explosion splashes a few square inches of whatever it hits with this chemical. The smoke rises quickly, and is not dangerous to breathe in. It's quite thick and not at all transparent. able to blind opponents if they are within a meter of the bullet, or directly above it. It will effectively act as both a signal flare and a smoke bomb upon impact, emitting a constant stream of rising smoke for about thirty seconds. After that point, the smoke will not disappear, but simply continue to rise and slowly disperse, until it vanishes two minutes later.

She is a trained marksman, but the rifle is only accurate for about 300 feet. She can choose the color of the smoke she creates with it ahead of time, but she tends to use white most often. The chemical can be cleaned off easily with water, or burned off, which will also stop the smoke.

  Pokemon All Wrong
Posted by: Alex Mercer - 06-02-2017, 09:42 PM - Forum: The Whateververse, Man - Replies (5)

So I've been thinking "Wouldn't it be GREAT to be a Pokemon Master?" Then I realized "Well... Pokemon are pretty much pointless, since you'd have to have like... a million Assists..."

But since I've been looking for an Alt, I've been forced to reread a lot of the rules to figure out how things SPECIFICALLY work, and then... well... I realized that Pokemon as they are in the videogames are already Prime appropriate.

Pokemon do pretty much nothing unless they have a command to do something, and even then it's from a select move list. These moves are balanced by varying the Power, PP, Effects, Damage, ETC so that no move is outrageously more powerful than another (depending on level progression, of course.) Even then, low level moves scaled based on the creature's power (read "Prime's") power.

So basically, you CAN have Pokemon, and "Captured" pokemon become very viable for a Prime "Pokemon Master" to have.

BUT

This is not the biggest issue. The biggest issue is that Primes are bound by rules... the same rules that bind a Pokemon (Such as Mew Two.) Balanced moves. Higher difficulty areas usually has higher level primes. Primes can carry consumable items that offer temporary bonuses. Primes come in every imagionable shape, size, color, temperature...

Primes... Are... Pokemon.

And Omni is really just a Pokemon master....

But OMNI was smart. Instead of going out and hunting all the pokemon in the world, he gathers them in a loose collection like the Safari zone, and puts a special prize at the end. All the pokemon want the prize, so they all chase it. But to get it, they have to become stronger... and at the end...

He throws his balls at us...

Character name: Boba Fett

Character source: Star Wars

Character history: Canon material only (Movies, Clone Wars). He is saved from the sarlaac pit by Omni.

Physical Description:
Stats:
ATK: 3
DEF: 2
SPD: 2
TEC: 3

Starting Proficiencies: 2600 OM
Ranged Proficiency (1000 OM)
Physical Strength (1000 OM)
Area Attack Proficiency (600 OM)

Starting Powers: 1100 OM
Burst Movement (800 OM)
Super Jump – Basic (300 OM)

Starting Moves: 1200 OM
EE-3 Carbine Rifle (Requires Ranged Proficiency) – 600
The carbine comes in at 27” from tip to tail.  It consists of a pistol grip, 12” barrel, and 11” of shoulder stock. A 12” optical sight sits on top. The whole thing is made from high grade steel and has a matte black finish. It hangs from Boba Fett’s shoulder on a fast draw sling. It’s power pack lasts for up to three rounds of combat in whichever mode(s) it is used. He doesn’t carry any back up power packs for it. The safety has three positions: Safety On, Fire Mode 1, and Fire Mode 2. It is located near the thumb of the firing hand.
Fire Mode 1: Three Round Burst
Effective for short and medium range but loses power and accuracy at longer ranges. Fires three laser shots per trigger pull. Can be fired once per second, for a fire rate of 3 shots per second. Very accurate when standing still. Moderately accurate when on the move.
Fire Mode 2: Single Shot
Effective for long and extreme range. When the user lightly presses on the trigger, it begins charging. It must charge for at least two seconds before being fired. It can hold the charge, ready to be fired, for as long as the user keeps his finger on the trigger. It is very accurate when standing still but extremely inaccurate beyond short range when moving.

Czerka ZX Miniature Flame Projector (Requires Ranged Proficiency, Area Attack Proficiency) – 300
A steel nozzle on his left wrist connects to a corded fuel line leading up his arm and to a canister on his jetpack that holds the fuel. The cone of flame it projects is five meters long and 1 meter in diameter. It has enough fuel for three minutes of operation. It continues to spew fire for as long as the trigger is pulled, which requires the full use of his left hand. Moving around has little effect on the use of the weapon.

Wrist-Mounted Vibro-blade (Requires Physical Strength) – 300
A twelve inch vibro-blade extends from his right gauntlet with a flick of the wrist. It is made of the same high-grade steel that his other weapons are made from and has a matte black finish. The weapon is extremely efficient. The power pack that provides the high speed vibrations is unlikely to ever run out of power.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

Where did you find us? I play Odin and this is my second character! I don’t remember how I originally found this place.

  Decide My Alt
Posted by: Gaston - 06-02-2017, 03:58 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (17)

You read the title. I'm quite a bit away from an alt, but just so that I can start planning for when I get there. So, I only really have two characters I'm considering:
Data (Star Trek: Next Generation):
Pros:
-Could set up Starfleet in the Omniverse
-Writing as a robot could be interesting
-He can summon a Secondary Spot

Cons:
-Not much move potential
-Writing as a robot is hard, especially one like Data

Next character:
Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty):
Pros:
-A lot of potential, power and storyline-wise
-His weaponry would make moves easy
-Someone may be willing to make a Morty character, or there could be a Morty assist

Cons:
-Similar views on The Empire as Cole
-Staying close to the source material may be hard

Both would be very interesting to play, but both'd also be hard, hence the thread.
