Tale of a Pup: In the Dog House
Posted by: Isabelle - 06-05-2017, 06:40 PM - Forum: The Ashen Steppes - Replies (8)

Quote:Continued from “Prologue of a Dog: A Titan’s Calling” in the Nexus.

As soon as she moved passed the smoke and into the verse, she already knew she had made a gigantic mistake.

The sky was on fire!

She had never seen anything like it before in her relatively short existence. The land around her was scorched down to the rock, and what wasn’t burnt was covered in searing red lava. She had only seen the stuff in textbooks, so to see it within walking distance of her made the hairs on the back of her head stand on end.

She peered back into the portal she once came, the white landscapes just calling for her return, even the world itself knew she didn’t belong as she could swear she could feel the void beckoning her back. She briefly considered that the worlds could be worse than this, but she had an endless supply of food and materials thanks to the Omni’s gift. She literally had nothing to lose by going back and trying another portal.

However, as she turned in place to retrace her steps, she took another look at the hellish landscapes. She pictured the Mayor here, tripping on the treacherous terrain and clinging helplessly over the edge of the lava pit, quietly praying for a helpful paw to arrive.

Even if it was the slightest chance the mayor was here, she knew she couldn’t give up. He could need her help.

Resolute in her decision, she fully faced towards the hellish landscape and took the first step forward.

She made her way through the scorched earth, her shoulders risen as she quivered in fear. As she continued, she began to question her logic. If the mayor had come there, he would have turned back, like she should have. She kept herself moving, still holding onto the hope that he was out there waiting for her, but doubt and reason slowly crept their way into her mind.

But before she could make a decision otherwise, she could hear a high pitched screech that penetrated her poor little ears. Covering the sides of her head, she spun around in place to see the source.

A dragon. A frikkin dragon! A really small one, about her size. It had blood red scales     and black eyes. It peered down at her with a hungry gaze.

Her eyes widened, she spun around and started running with all her strength, trying to propel herself faster than the monster currently on her tail. But with every set of steps she sent herself forward with, she could hear the heavy flaps of the creature coming closer and closer behind, getting heavier. She shut her eyes for what would be her final moments.

BOOOM!

The ground started to shake as she tumbled to the rock floor. She could hear the creature fly away to somewhere else unknown. She’d be happy of her apparent good fortune, but that doesn’t change the fact that the earth was still shaking beneath her.

CRACK!

Suddenly, the earth opened up, giving way to the quake. She grabbed on with her front paws, hanging for dear life off the edge of a crevasse. She looked behind her, the hole in the earth was now more than a yard wide. She tried to pull herself up, but the shaking persisted, loosening her grip with each toss.

And then she fell

Into the darkness she plummeted, unknowing where she was going to land. As she fell, she could see the hole above her mysteriously close behind her. She had no time to ponder this curiosity as the air whistled passed her ears.

She shut her eyes and embraced her inevitable demise. She prayed to Omni that his words about immortality were true. She prayed that she would come back to life as he said she would. She prayed.

She would eventually land, but it was not exactly what she prayed for.

  Prologue of a Dog: A Titan's Calling
Posted by: Isabelle - 06-05-2017, 05:46 PM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (1)

Dear Mayor,

It’s been a long time since you first graced our town hall. Oh geeze, I remember when you had to get your reputation up for the licence, I still wonder why the government wanted that. I guess it’s because we didn’t vote you in.

Well, technically we did vote you in, the only entries on the ballot were “get the government to send somebody” or “Bob.” I guess his “In Bob we trust” catch phrase never caught on, at least not enough to win against a complete stranger. With you leaving, I already hear him throwing around his new slogan: “What about Bob?” I guess somethings never change.

I’m getting sidetracked, what I mean is that you were the best thing to happen to this town. I remember when this place was nothing, barely had notice on the map. But now, the financial district pulls in tourist far and wide! We even have a fashion scene now, I didn’t expect that! I mean, half our citizens are a t-shirt or scarf away from being naked, we’re far from a fashionable group.

And that’s all because of you, Mayor, it’s all because of your hardwork and dedication. Seriously the only bad thing to happen to this town is the dwindling butterfly population, but that’s hardly your fault.

While you are going away to do your exploring thing, I just want you to remember to take care of yourself, we all care deeply about you. I may not be there to help you anymore, but I’m always with you in spirit.

I hope your journey is as bountiful as you’ve made this town.

You’re always in my thoughts,
~Isabelle

It wasn’t the blinding white light that caught her attention. She knew the day the Mayor left was sunny. She prayed for rainy weather, so maybe they would postpone it for a day, but the sun decided to favor the spirit of adventure. Fate wasn’t in the cards for poor Isabelle, in more ways than one. She thought the light at first was the sun mocking her, as if punishing her for her selfish prayers the night before.

However, it was the darkness that hinted something was remiss. At first she thought the black void swallowing up all the light was her blacking out from heatstroke or heartbreak, but when the light started to take form, she began to think it was a hallucination.

What formed in the light in front of her looked like a boy sitting cross-legged on the floor, but his head was way too small to be a human, and his body was way too big. He looked more like one of the titans of legend, though those stood over you like mountains while the child in front of her sat at equal size.

Then, much to her surprise, the titan spoke to her.

Quote:“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”

The beings of legends were said to be gods that controlled fate. She may be a ditz at times, but she knew when it was important to listen up.

The boy handed her an orb of rainbow colored light which fit perfectly in the palm of her paw.

Quote:This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.

She heard of shooting stars granting wishes, but she never believed it. Now god himself was literally handing her matter that could grant her anything she could possibly want!

Before she could even comprehend this concept, the titan continued.

Quote:“You will not be alone in the Omniverse. There are others. Of course, they, too desire Omnilium. Do not fear death. For as long as you interest me, you will be reborn.

“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”

And with that, the darkness faded away, and the dog found herself standing in an empty white void, in front of her was a fountain, a tiny island inhabited the middle which reminded her of Tortimer’s island. The mayor once asked her to go there once… twice… maybe three times. He was often obsessed with making her take a vacation. It was uncertain to her why.

Her imagination ran wild as she tried to compile what she had just encountered. Oddly, the idea of being in another universe didn’t take much to process, nor did the concept of gods existing. But the concept of wish granting magical powers, was a little harder to swallow. Maybe this is the reason Omni’s world is so empty? Was she supposed to fill it?

No, he said there were others. And just a quick peek around showed that she was far from alone. She could see the faint forms of people inching their way in the distance. Most were oddly shaped like Omni.

“Maybe I should try to wish for something.” She said out loud, as if making note to someone taking dictations.

She clasped her paws together as if she were praying. She almost closed her eyes, but her curiosity kept her lids open a smidge. She started to remember her scooter from her kart racing days. She thought about the green and eggshell white finish, the brown handlebars, the print designs, she pictured it vividly in her head. Soon, that same rainbow colored ball appeared out of her, slowly taking the form of the scooter on the ground before fully materializing just a few minutes later.

She leapt with joy.

“Yay! It is true!” She said, her arms raised. Then she scooped up the scooter, which turned into a leaf in her paw, and she stuffed it into her pocket. “What should I wish for next?”

In the next hour, she would summon a new set of clothes, an apple, a lawn chair, and a book she never got around to reading. She had just got settled down, the sounds of water rushing ringing in her ears as she plowed through the first few chapters, munching her way through an apple like it was nothing.

It was when she had only a core left and she got to chapter 4 when her mind started to deviate. Despite the fact she had made herself comfortable in this strange place, it didn’t change the fact that the world didn’t seem all that homely. She’d feel a bit more comfortable with a roof over her head; an actual roof, not the white thing overhead.

She had a chuckle. It had been a long time since she had been homeless. She didn’t have magical powers last time. She pretty much lived out of town hall     until she had her payments done through Nook. She had no idea where her brother lived up to that point.

She started to remember the mayor, how he had to live in a tent for his first few days. It was funny, thinking of an elected official sleeping in a tent.

Then it hit her.

“The mayor, he must be here, too!” She cried out.

She leapt to her feet and started to pace in front of her lawn chair. If she was worthy enough to be brought here by some god, then surely someone as amazing and fantastic as the mayor was here, too! He said he wanted to go on adventures, but this is not what he had in mind. He could be lost somewhere out in the whiteness, he could need her help!

She clasped her paws together, thought long and hard as she focused on the space in front of her.

“Send me to the mayor.” She said, plainly and clearly.

Nothing happened.

“Please, send me to the mayor.” She said, she focused harder on their visage.

Nothing happened. Not even a sparkle of Omnilium sparked from her body.

“Please, bring him here!” She pleaded as she thought long and hard about him, every detail of him…. her…

Then it struck her.

She couldn’t remember the mayor. Couldn’t remember their face, their details. She didn’t even know for certain their gender. They could have been a man or a woman or… It had to be one of those two.

The whirlwind of confusion hit hard over they puppy’s mind, as she began to panic.

“Why can’t I remember…” She cried how, plopping down on her knees, tears soaking the fur under her eyes. “I need to protect him. It’s my duty, but how can i find him if I can’t remember him… or her.”

She curled in a ball on the Nexus floor, her face buried into her knees as she sobbed her eyes out, confused, frustrated, and oh so lost.

Switching from Frisk. As I posted in the NPCs thread, ownership of the NPC Prime Dr. Alphys will be transferred to Undyne.

Character name: Isabelle [float=right][Image: 8yEr7en.jpg][/float]

Character source: Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Character history:
She was raised in the big city alongside her twin brother where’s she lived a mostly uneventful childhood. She was a very ambitious student, getting mostly A’s in all her classes and even graduating with a degree of engineering in 19 different universities. However, due to the competitive and cruel market that is urban life, the only job she could get with her credentials was the job of a secretary.

Despite gaining a reputation for being punctual and polite, she found herself jumping from one secretary job to the next as most companies willing to take her in don’t last long in the cutthroat business world.

It was around this time that she gained the dream job, a secretary position in town hall in the middle of nowhere. It was safe, it was secure, it didn’t have the hustle and bustle of the city. She took it without a second thought. Her overprotective twin brother Digby pulled some strings and followed her to the stick, entirely just to keep an eye on her.

Despite the workload being far heavier than what she expected, she loved the job. But the longer she held the position, the more life began to feel predictable. She began to feel bored, unfulfilled. She still enjoyed the work, but something just wasn’t clicking.

Then, a few months into her job, the new Mayor came into office. The mayor was like no one she had ever met before, and she immediately grew attached. She devoted all her time to making sure the Mayor had everything they wanted, and together, they would raise the town from an empty podunk, to a thriving social hub in a matter of months.

Isabelle began to change in this time, she was happy again, and this town no longer was boring as it was. She was living for someone, and that breathed so much life into her existence.

Which made it all the more painful when the Mayor had to step down. They were eager to go on adventures, see new lands, experience new feelings. Izzy tried to be supportive, but deep down, she was crushed.

It was that day, waving goodbye to the mayor as the train rode away to some parts unknown, it was at the moment that Omni took her.

Physical Description:
She’s a yellow anthropomorphic Shih Tsu dog with canary yellow fur all over her body, dark orange fur on her ears and white fur on her snout. She’s often seen in a green checkered design vest over a white undershirt and dark blue business skirt.

  Abyssal Beginnings
Posted by: Professor Sunshine - 06-05-2017, 12:04 AM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (2)

As Abyss woke, she still felt anger from when she was last awake. From what she could last remember, there was some sort of mutiny on her ship, and she was knocked off of the ship and into the water. As she looked around, all she saw was a black void surrounding herself, with nothing of value that she could see. "Oh, great is this the afterlife? This is kinda underwhelming, I thought it would be like paradise. I guess if this is where I-"

Before Abyss could continue her thought, a bright silhouette suddenly appeared in front of her, startling her a bit as she walked a bit back. As she prepared to put her mechanical tentacles in front of herself in self-defense just in case, the figure started talking, without even giving her a chance to talk.

Omni Wrote:“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know. This is the Omniverse. You interest me, so I have made you part of it. The Omniverse is a place that reflects the wishes of those who are part of it. But! There are rules. I will explain them only once, so listen carefully.”

Abyss was very confused on what Omni said, as she had no idea on what a Omniverse was, or what he even meant by the place being a way to reflect the wishes of the people in it. She was angered a bit since there were rules she had to listen to, but since she was still cautious of the silhouette, Abyss decided to continue and let it talk for a bit more. At that moment, Omni placed a orb in front of her shining various colors of the rainbow. As Abyss picked it up, she decided to squeeze it a bit to see what it was, but before she could crush it, the silhouette stopped her and continued to talk.

Omni Wrote:“This is Omnilium. It’s what ties the Omniverse together. Without it, you are nothing. With it, anything you desire can be yours. But you will need more than this. If you desire it enough, you will find it. You will find that using it comes naturally. Just think of what you desire most.

“That’s all you need to know right now. You’ll figure out the rest soon enough. I’ll be watching … and waiting.”

As Omni finished talking, the silhouette disappear as the darkness around Abyss started to clear up around Abyss and was replaced by a white and empty landscape with a fountain in front of her, and the orb flew around and eventually into her body. As Abyss walked around the fountain and checked around for something else that she could see. Luckily for Abyss, she saw 8 different gates from the horizon, surrounding the Fountain.

"Oh thank goodness, something that isn't this fountain! I thought I would be stuck here forever, but maybe if I can get closer to one of those things, I can leave this white void!" Before Abyss started to head torwards one of the gates, she decided to blindfold herself with one of her own tentacles so that she could choose one of the gates at random. As she blindfolded herself and started walking, she started to think to herself on what to do once she got out of this void. Since that Omni guy said that Omnilium could be used for anything that she could desire, she thought that she could make herself even more fearsome than when she was a Egg Boss before the Omniverse, and maybe even put fear on others that may want her Omnilium.

After a half hour of walking, Abyss finally removed the tentacles from over her eyes and took a look at which gate would be the closest one to her. As she looked around, she saw that the gate closest to her was a gate that looked like a giant archway of steel in appearence. "Huh, so I guess I am going through this modern gate to who knows where. Ah well, beats being in this void. But still, maybe I should try creating something to speed this up..." As Abyss finished talking, she sat down and tried concentrating on making something to speed up her way to the gate.

After around 5 minutes of concentration, Abyss was finally able to finish on creating her first object out of Omnilium, which unfortunately to her was just a simple blue segway with a anchor on the front, which angered her a bit since she thought she would create something cooler like a ship with wheels or some sort of motorcycle. Despite her anger though, she decided to give the segway a try, and she hopped onto it as she turned it on. As she started applying speed onto the segway, she was surprised as the simple vehicle was speeding around at around 70 miles per hour, quite a bit faster then she could travel while walking. She could go faster in short bursts, but since the speed on the segway was constant, Abyss decided to keep it, as she sped on the way for the steel gate.

  Joining: Vel'Koz
Posted by: Vel'Koz - 06-04-2017, 04:32 PM - Forum: Joining - Replies (8)

Character name: Vel’Koz

Character source: League of Legends

Character history: Following the normal lore provided by League of Legends, this version of Vel’Koz is still, at core, pursuing knowledge. This will take place after he glimpsed at "The Ultimate Knowledge" in Zilean's Tower. Variation: Now stuck in an unfamiliar world, Vel’Koz will be concerned with learning about his new environment and not so much on the "disintegrate everything" aspect of his existence.

Physical Description: Vel’Koz’s center piece, if imagined to be spherical, has a diameter of four foot, the central eye having a perfectly spherical one foot diameter. Three tentacle appendages point out behind Vel’Koz, one facing directly backwards and the others away from the central appendage in the same direction at a 45 degree angle. The appendages are 6 foot long, giving Vel’Koz a total length of around 10 foot when straightened out from front to tip but a height of only 4 foot. This isn’t seen unless Vel’Koz is in a hurry, as he usually curls and flicks his tentacles slowly as he moves. When Vel'Koz looks around, his centre eye will move and a short moment after, his three extra eyes will turn to look in the same direction as well. They can move independently of each other but typically don't. Vel'Koz levitates 2 feet above the ground, bringing the very top of his carapace level with the head of a 6 foot tall person, the centre of his eye being half-way down his carapace and his three extra eyes resting just above.

Stats:
ATK: 4
DEF: 2
SPD: 2
TEC: 2

Starting Proficiencies: Ranged (1000), Physical Strength (1000)

Starting Powers:
Insight (1600):
“Consume and learn.”

Vel’Koz is an intelligent Voidborn of analytics and logical reasoning, capable of discovering the most fascinating facts about entity biology by tearing it open, poking around inside and disintegrating it entirely. A callous and amoral approach to science but it gains results like no other. He can also learn about subjects simply by observing them, which is to be expected.

Starting Moves:
Levitation (300):

Vel'Koz can but does not use his tentacles for movement. Instead, he floats two foot above the ground for all movement unless heavily injured, to which he may use a tentacle to help lift him in tandem with his natural levitation or may float lower to the ground, dragging a tentacle.
Information: Vel'Koz does not typically rest on the ground unless preparing for some form of alternate state such as entering the Data Verse or Astral Realm, in the process summoning or preparing for a long-range teleport.

Plasma Fission - Ranged (300):

After a 1.5 second charge, Vel’Koz fires out a bolt of bright, pulsing purple plasma, almost a foot in size, at 5 feet per second, travelling a maximum of 15 meters before slowing down rapidly but never stopping. After half a second, the bolt splits in two, each smaller bolt travelling 7.5 feet within a second at a 90 degree angle away from the fission point with the potential to hit other targets. After this range is reached, the bolts dissipate. If the bolt hits something before it reaches its maximum range, the bolt continues to split in two.

If Vel’Koz is standing still, he can fire this ability multiple times in succession, with the ability to turn himself between each shot, provided he has a 2 second charge time between the first shot and each subsequent shot. This will drain his energy reserves much quicker than taking a break / using a different ability between Plasma Fissions.
