  Becoming a Calamari Criminal
Posted by: Professor Sunshine - 07-03-2017, 08:18 PM - Forum: The Vasty Deep - Replies (8)

Quote:Continued from Resurrection of A.

As Abyss walked through the gate into the Vasty Deep and walked onto the sand by the gate, she took some time to look around at the sights of the island so that she could better understand the area around her for later. As looked around the beach and tried to see beyond the waters, Abyss could make out the image of a couple of faraway islands, but she could barely even make out what was on the islands due to them being so far away. "Ugh, if only I had a boat or something to get closer, then maybe I could see what's up on those other islands."

Turning around from the beach and going in the other direction away from the Gate, and as she walked closer to Costa del Sol, she was beginning to see a wide variety of tall buildings of various colors as well as a bunch of different kinds of people walking across the street conversing with each other in a very loud and happy manner, which annoyed Abyss quite a bit. She thought that this place would be more relaxing than the chaos of Dante's Abyss, but with all of the annoying chatter between all the inhabitants, she thought that this beach-like world would be more chaotic than relaxing.

As Abyss was unsure of what to do next, she decided to chat with one of the people among the crowds of talking people.
"Hey you, over there. My name is Abyss, and I just arrived in this world and I'm looking for a place to relax for my stay here for the night. Do you have any reccomendations?" As Abyss waited for a answer from the stranger, she was surprised to hear from the stranger saying "You wan't relaxation here? Good luck in finding relaxation in this district of Costa del Sol! I mean, you may find some relaxation in the water parks, but even then they're as crowded as ever during the day!"

"A water park!? Why would you have a water park in a city right next to a beach? Ugh, it's a big waste of water, but maybe it could be of good use to me." After hearing about what the stranger had to say, Abyss was kinda mad that she wouldn't find a place to relax in this part of the city, but she at the least heard that there was some sort of water park nearby that she could take over and convert into a place she could live at. Sure, the water park would be a huge waste of water, but she could probably convert the pipes for some sort of other use.

Before she did anything though, Abyss decided to change her wardrobe so she could better fit around in this Verse. As Abyss tried to focus her OM to change her clothes, she quickly hid behind an alley so that she wouldn't be embarrased as she changed from one outfit to another. After around 3 minutes of trying to focus, she was able to create a dark blue one piece swimsuit with a tentacle pattern, and as she switched between her clothes, she was annoyed on how the swimsuit was a little tight around the bottom, but besides that grievance, she thought that the new swimsuit would be a good thing to wear for now, or at least until she would be able to create something more comfortable to wear.

  OmniTube - Pleasure Motors Advertisement

[float=left][Image: KQMxUsD.png][/float][float=right][Image: KQMxUsD.png][/float]

[spoiler]The video starts in a brightly lit parking lot, it pans down to a cheeky looking guy with a shit eating grin.
He says a spiel.
"You know, Pleasure Motors serves not just Coruscant, but the entire Omniverse region. Hot rods, DeLoreans, you name it, we got it here at Pleasure Motors. With several locations in Coruscant - four in downtown, one off the beltway, one above the loop, and one right in the loop."
He says all this while pointing at cars and a map of Coruscant, which looks nothing like Coruscant actually resembles.
"Because at Pleasure Motors, your business is our pleasure, and our pleasure is none of your business!"
He says this as he drops his pants, about ready to enjoy himself. The camera quickly cuts away to the Pleasure Motors logo and the crudely drawn map of Coruscant. We hear noises that sound inappropriate as the cops come to arrest the Pleasure Motors guy."

Posted by: Guu - 07-03-2017, 04:26 PM - Forum: The Tangled Green - Replies (36)

The next day, after seeing Gildarts off on his new adventure, Guu was spending the morning watching the dataverse, trying to work herself up to doing royal duties.

She was in the middle of watching leaked security footage from Coruscant, when she got an idea, one involving a pair of newbies to the kingdom. She just thought of the perfect mission for them to go on.

She scanned again the pile of letters she got while she was partying the day before, and found the one that smelt suspiciously of hemp.

Reading through it one last time, she knew it would be perfect.

Luckily for her, the two newbies were already planning to head up later that morning together anyways, at least that's what her sources told her. She wasn't used to things working out this perfectly. She anticipated an explosion out of pure cosmic balance cosidering how well this played out in her head.

Meanwhile, a certain bear and a certain fish were waking up for the morning...

  Drawception

I found a thing!

Drawception (in it's own words) is a cross between pictionary and the telephone game. First player writes a statement, next one Draws it, the next describes the drawing etc. etc. until the end. A game of misinturpration and Chaos.

Join my Omniverse themed gamed

(Note: You do not need to be good at drawing to play the game, in fact, diffident drawing styles and talents make it fun.

  Power Ups like Assists?
Posted by: Alex Mercer - 07-02-2017, 02:32 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (9)

Higher tier Assists allow for multiple lower tier Assists at the same time. I'm curious as to why Power Ups can't be done the same way? I've looked, not only do the two have the same prices, but even if you had 4 T1 Power Ups with any of the boosts, you can't break any of the rules EXCEPT the one saying "Only one transformation."

Combinations increase drastically if you include Powered Up Forms (Also same price.) Obviously you can only have one Powered Up FORM because it involves altering base stats.

I'm trying hard to think of a way to break this, but so far I can't find a way. >_> And before you say anything about Boosts, it's a 1/2/4 ratio all the way through, so using four T1's with boosts always equals the same as using one T3 with the same boost level, so this balances itself out no matter how you stack it. Here's an example of a T3 with the first boost level:

ATK 8 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 17
DEF 7 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 13
SPD 1 + 0 + 1 + 0 = 2
TEC 0 + 1 + 0 + 1 = 2

17 is half of 34. The above example is assuming that EVERY T1 power up idealizes one stat, which defeats the purpose BUT it proves that the system can't be broken.

Pros of this variance:

  • A character with T3 Power Ups has a LOT of variance when they choose to use T2 (six pairs, without counting Powered Up Forms) and a crapload of T1's that I don't even want to count.
  • More fodder possibilities, such as drinking two out of four of your potions at once.
Cons of this variance:
  • Cost. T3 would cost effectively 4k, where a regular T3 is only 2k.
  • T3 doesn't change much, neither more or less powerful than regular. Unless more Powerups of lower levels are purchased to add variance. This yields diminishing returns.
Am I missing anything? It seems a hell of a lot less complex than having four sentient minions running about. Is there a reason this is not allowed, or has no one questioned it before? I just think it'd be pretty cool late game to have a way to modify your mid-tiers. Aang might do something like this four each of the four elements with Intigration.

  The hunt begins anew.
Posted by: Vulre Oakenlimb - 07-02-2017, 08:34 AM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

Snow cascaded down from the heavens, the ever-falling frozen flakes cascading down from the shrouded heavens. They landed upon a set of broad shoulders, hidden beneath marble-white hide, freshly torn from an arctic wolf. A spyglass emerged from beneath the snow and ragged cloak, the brass tube wrapped in simple sackcloth to hide the gleam of metal. A brace of knives was sheathed across the figure’s chest, while an axe accompanied by a hook and chain hung from his hips. As he focused his apparatus towards the sable spire of stone rising from the frozen wastes, a quill scratched and scraped across a piece of vellum laid across his knee, inscribing it with ink in the distinctive flow of the Elvish script.

Vulre’s chosen profession had a distinct advantage: You never questioned what you were doing. Every moment was with purpose, a preparation for the final confrontation between hunter and prey.

In this case, the prey in question was Tharsis, a necromancer who had stumbled across a cache of ancient lore within the ruined fortress before them, and had begun accumulating enough hostages and rare reagents to warrant a bounty being placed atop their head. While most nobles were loathe to pay interest to anything outside of their immediate attention, even they were able to recognize the inception of a lich. For the past three days, Vulre had maintained his vigil, his observations scrawled down upon the sheet of treated leather. The deliveries of various alchemical ingredients by black-clad men, the sacrifices hauled in from the nearest villages by skeletal minions, and the meagre amount of food required to sustain both sorcerer and slaves.

The feather rapped against his leather-clad thumb as he thought, gnawing on a scarred lip as he considered his options. For decades, he’d hunted down warlocks, bandits, and worse. One aspiring lich was hardly a new experience, but overconfidence was as sure a killer as any blade. Necromancers had a tendency towards organization and control issues: Many an undead horde marched in perfect lockstep, each movement perfectly orchestrated by a monstrous master. That meant frequent patrols and traps designed to exploit any missed step. If a would-be assassin could bypass the intricate arrangement of autonomous defenses, they’d face the necromancer himself. Despite popular perception, necromancers were more versatile than simple reanimation. The manipulation of life and death lends itself to stealing souls and vitality alike, leaving many an aspiring crusader left unable to even move within their heavy armour as their body betrayed them. Of course, their time bartering with dark spirits often stripped them of their own constitution, leaving them as frail as one would expect an aging scholar living alone in a frozen wasteland to be.

Unless they bought that life back with other lives, that is. Vulre murmured under breath, discrete clouds of fog slipping out from beneath his helm in the cold as he consulted the tally of newly arrived slaves and supplies. A scowl spread across his scarred visage, swearing as he confirmed the numbers. Assuming the slaves were being starved to keep them weak and compliant, there were at least three being killed off each day. That left thirty souls to offer up for whatever ritual they had planned, and three each day to bolster his power.

Another fact was circled and underlined upon his sheet of secrets: Alchemy. Vulre was most decidedly inexperienced when it comes to such matters, but his brief foray into the world of potions confirmed one fact: it had a tendency to combust when handled improperly, and he had the burns to prove it. An act of arson brought about by alchemy would be more than sufficient to raze the ruins down to ashes, burn the rightfully forbidden lore the warlock unearthed, and…

The Slaves.

Damn, cursed the bounty hunter, snow falling from his form as he began to rise up, concealing his equipment within a set of leather pouches. Frozen feet forced their way through the drifts, craving a path through the seemingly infinite expanse of cold white death. Flakes slowly slid down the steel of his helmet, leaving quickly freezing trails of condensation upon the dull surface. Through the blizzard buffeting him, dull green eyes saw the first line of defence: A pair of patchwork skeletons stood guard by the gateway, a variety of discoloured bones creating colossuses of calcified death. Mage-light burnt in empty eye sockets, the arcane gaze seeking out souls, rather than attempting to penetrate the all-obfuscating storm.

Polearms clutched in many-fingered hands didn’t even twitch as Vulre strolled between them, the balefire seeking to scorch his soul finding nothing, his aura entirely non-existent to their ‘enhanced’ perception. The stone slabs parted with a scraping screech, the undead ignoring the sound, as it lay outside the commands of the dark script scrawled across the inside of their skull, the warped words which gave their false lives purpose and power.

The hunter’s boots silently slid over the stone, leaving a trail of half-melted snow as he did so, eyes carefully watching the stones beneath him: Which were scuffed with the constant motion of the skeletal horde? Which were entirely untouched, save the dried blood staining their surface? It was a delicate dance, each step a reminder that one wrong move could end him, leaving him impaled, decapitated, or eviscerated; his legend left to die in this frozen ruin.

That was, of course, unacceptable.

After several minutes of carefully traipsing over the tracks, they diverged: Down one passage, there were drag marks, indicative of the lost souls carried away into this forsaken fortress. As for the other, a set of stairs ascended further up into the spire, leaving the all-too mortal slaves behind to suffer. The captives were a problem: Vulre had scarcely enough supplies to sustain himself, and it was doubtful they would survive a trek through the tundra unaided. They’d be the neighbouring villages’ concern: The undoubtedly explosive confrontation should send scouts running soon enough.

There was no last-minute readying of gear, desperate prayers, or steeling of resolve. The hunter hefted his axe and hook over his iron-clad shoulders, his oiled gambeson silent as he began his ascent. There were no traps; a single patch of ice in this environment could send an absent-minded necromancer sprawling into spikes of their own design. No, the journey to the oaken door was short and simple, the iron lock sealing him off from the bubbling of alchemical beakers, the weeping of lost souls, and the ethereal chanting he had grown to expect from aspiring immortals.

He raised a boot, the iron embedded in the sole crashing against the wood, sending fragments flying off as he crashed forward into-

Nothingness.

“My name is Omni. This is not the world you know.”

Vulre gasped as he awoke, pressing himself upwards from the empty plane beneath him, gloved hands patting himself down as he inspected his armour and body. There were no cuts, no bruises, no broken bones, no arrows impaling him.

He was alive.

He rose a hand to the dull metal of his helm, scratching his head through the hardened material.

But where in Dis’s bowels was he?

  [Important] Book Keeping with Consumables
Posted by: Karl Jak - 07-02-2017, 08:17 AM - Forum: Dante's Abyss Junkyard - Replies (9)

We've had a lot of those used this year.

In order to get your Participation bonus for this year's Dante's Abyss, I would like everyone who has used consumables to do the following:

1.  Post in your P/D Log, stating what you have used during Dante's Abyss.
2.  Correctly update your roster, making sure you've adjusted to the slight change in how items are tracked (Reference = http://omniverse-rpg.com/items.php#Items_And_Artefacts)

Make a post here once you have done both of these things.

"What if I intend to keep using stuff?" -- That's cool, you can wait until the end to do the P/D Log, but you can still make sure your Roster has been modified.

After DA concludes, there'll be roster audits.
