  Forces Update Questions
Posted by: Oleander - 07-06-2017, 04:30 AM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (3)

I'm sure I won't be the only one with questions, so feel free to add any you have.

Question 1:

Quote:Without their own writer, a Force Prime is considered nowhere near as strong as a player Prime - call it plot armor or whatever, but they'll be beaten out every time.

Does this mean that I could have someone else write as this prime? For example, could MY Force Prime be played by another player (with permission) on a semi-to-permanent status?

Question 2:
Is there any sort of fodder behind why Force Primes are weaker than actual Primes? Are these a new type of Sub-Primes, or is it just something we're not supposed to talk about? XD

Subject: dante's abyss
Attachments:  <zone-a-fights>, <zone-b-fights>, <zone-c-fights>, <zone-d-fights>, <zone-e-fights>, <zone-x-fights>

it's been a while, but i'll cut to the chase.

i stopped by this year's dante's abyss, mostly because it made me think of our time in camelot.. that awful place.

anyways, you seemed to be heavily interested in information about the where and what of this place, but i thought it might be worth your time to have some information on the who. luckily for us, these people are so willing to show off what they have in front an adoring audience.

pathetic.

note-to-self: send this Karl Jak a congratulations card as thanks.

i've attached the videos in case you find any of the profiles i wrote up interesting enough to want to watch them yourself. enjoy.

while this isn't all of the members of the game, they were they only of note. and even then not much to note about some of them.

---

no particular order

clive, gildarts.
human, male (8/10)
mage? showed some magical tendencies.
one of the most impressive members of the game. a large portion of the other candidates avoided him like the plague - and his companion, see below - while one muscular moron, in particular, kept showing up around him. it's unclear if this other member was doing so on purpose, but at some point he also joined the ranks of 'Karl's Chippendales'. gildarts, while imposing, makes me think he isn't our type.
had an impressive fan-club in the waiting room. stupid fucking loud though.
advice: avoid until further notice.

stormrage, illidan.
elf? male (6/10)
mage? showed magic and strength.
while still impressive, not so much as his friend. (see above) plenty scary looking. not sure what his motives are, will look into it. looks like the type to kick a puppy or kill a child. (watched him impale a little girl, good stuff.)
advice: approach with caution.

hendy, vic.
supernatural, male. (10/10)
dirty fighter, good stuff.
where do i start with this one? attaching himself to another member he played THE game while playing the game. loved watching him work. okay, and get this? possible vampire drained a girl in the colosseum. was a gore-a-phile's wet dream. really enjoyed his style. kinda helped that he wrecked a cop's shit. great stuff.
action: already planning to go find this guy. keep ya posted.

rockwell, strazio.
human? male. (8/10)
dirty mouthed and covered in blood fighter.
this. guy. never. stopped. killing. people. HAWT! someone rang the dinner bell for this guy, and he came running for all the gore and violence. magneficent~!!!
advice: stay on his good side, talk to him when he's calmed down.

deadpool. (swear i've heard of this guy..)
human? male? (?/10)
guns and swords
he fucked around for most of the game.. not that he wasn't particularly fun to watch, he made me laugh. he entered the colosseum once, and then it was like no one wanted to play. can't decide if he's our cup of tea.
advice: further research.

makara, gamzee.
demon? male. (7/10)
pound clown town.
likes faygo and sunsets. maybe even long walks on the beach.
words can't describe this guy. just watch the vids. he must be high. still, kinda liked his style. especially spitting in the face of some has-been before making his escape. cheeky bastard. loved it.
action: going to see him over a bottle of faygo if i can.

enel.
"god" male. (0/10)
lightening rod.
dude. look. you can't like anyone who likes himself as much as this guy. sure he is ripped and the sparks were flying, but there wasn't anything going on in that guy's head. this 'twitter' thing is a fad-tastic way to put nonsense out into the world, and he loves the shit out of it. look him up. he tricked some innocent girl into thinking he's actually a god. idk who would come up with this guy, but if they needed an ego boost they ain't getting it from me.
advice: spit a mouthful of faygo in his face and then beat his face in.
action: no contact will be made.

malon.
elf? female
copies shit.
kind of plain.. don't remember a lot. except the vampire drained her right in front of the camera. (seriously, go watch it)
advice: n/a

redgrave, tony
'human', male (8/10)
sword and guns, and tricks up his sleeve.
another impressive character, i think i know him from somewhere. edgy as fuck looking, but he's fucking cool so. props. definitely held his own long enough for me to want to see what his thing is.
action: give him time to walk it off, then go look him up.

snow, dawn.
human? female
lots of guns, and punches things
she was impressive as well, resilient or just lucky. this girl has the ability to change hair color and eye color at will. bad ass transformation animation. got a bit of an anger problem. decked that shirtless guy pretty hard, not sure why because they just made out not the night before. whatever.
a girl at the bar had a fan-girl moment about her. apparently, her guns are impressive. (snrk)
note: hunted down a child for living instead of dying in their first fight. vengeful?
advice: research, maybe interview.

suzaku, tamsin
human, female
stuff?
didn't really hold my attention. maid outfit, pretty sure she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. got some lip action though.
advice: n/a

cell.
wtf? male? (1/10)
blasty 'spells' and green skin.
narcissistic sounds appropriate for him. randomly advertised items. ad-character? has a lisp.
action: he intrigues me, going to talk to him later.

graw[ect, ect, ect.]
idk. female?
blasty 'spells' and blue skin.
naive. dense. slow. annoyed dawn. somehow won.
action: ignore.

mar, jak. (not to be confused with the host)
elf? male. [redact] (10/10)
stuck to the sidelines as much as possible, but kicked ass in the colosseum. i recognize this guy from my shit back home, but all i can remember is he's kind of a badass. daxter's here too. oh.. you won't know who that is. anyways.
note: didn't realize how well equipped he was... (note-to-self: send a thank you to deadpool)
advice: approach with caution.

takezo, shimen.
human, male. (8/10)
swords and blood.
this guy. this fucking guy. fucking.. awesome. he lusted for blood til his dying breath. he went straight from a fight to another fight. fucking bad-ass (killed by gamzee and strazio) bad ass. just crazy enough to maybe be useful.
action: hold off, but want to talk.

hoshi, hokori. [star, dust. i googled that, its legit..]
human? male. (7/10)
claws and teeth.
...interesting.. he rummaged through some old boats for a day, kissed a lot of people, ripped out a guys throat, pushed a squid into lava, and i thought he was dead when he walked up to gildarts. dumbed his way into the group, i swear. omg, so this guy actually saved someone from taking a hit. can you fucking believe it? dumbass. kissed some more people and then went to fight vic. (fight didn't conclude.)
advice: n/a, wait for him to do something.

---

now that the business part is over, how have you been? i just g-

nevermind, i guess i have to go. might as well try to snag one of them on the way out of here.

  Switching: Gengar -> Venom
Posted by: Cell - 07-06-2017, 03:14 AM - Forum: Joining - Replies (6)

Yeah ... really wanted to avoid this. Sorry.

Character name: Venom (roleplaying as the symbiote, not any particular incarnation of Venom)

Character source: Marvel Comics

Character history: Up to the point where the symbiote is removed from Lee Price.

Physical Description: (originals only)

Stats:
ATK: 4
DEF: 4
SPD: 1
TEC: 1

Starting Proficiencies: Physical (1000), Ranged (1000)

Starting Powers: Symbiosis (2000), Super Jumping Basic (300)

Starting Moves: Webbing (Ranged) (300) - Venom fires pressurised strands of its own substance at an effective distance of 70 feet from the white patches on the back of his hands. These 'web' lines travel at the speed of an arrow and are adhesive, allowing Venom to swing on them like ropes when they attach to almost any surface. There is almost no limit to how much webbing he can produce, but as it is He can also use them to snag items or people from a distance and draw them to him.

Claws (Physical) (300) - While his fingers already end in dull tips, Venom can extend his fingers into longer, sharper implements of battle. They extend his fingers an extra six inches on each hand and sharpens their tips, perfect for raking flesh.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct.

I DESIRED POSITIVITY. GIVE ME YOUR PROTONS +

Complete the sentence, and be nice about it too!

I'll go first.

The Omniverse has helped me ... Get over my "stage fright." Before I was SO mortified if one person EVER read my writing and didn't like it, like OMG you'll die of shame Sam, but now I take pride in it.. Mostly. Anyway, it has helped me become more comfortable with collaboration and the fundamentals of critique and improvement. Also I get to write with friends AND some of the greatest writers ever and that is a dream come true for me.

The Man With 1000 Faces: Carnival of Caine
Posted by: Harlan Higgs - 07-05-2017, 09:24 PM - Forum: The Astral Realm - Replies (1)

Quote:The Carnival of Caine

The Astral Realm. A place of utter mutability and fantasy. The dreamscape is a roiling place of color and sound, nightmares and desires. Those who touch it do so unwittingly, held by it's power until they awaken. But for a few, they know what they are touching. They walk among the nightly mysteries. And it is often their personal dreamspaces that are the most frightening.

Take the corner of the Astral Realm occupied by the mind of one known in the Omniverse as Harlan Higgs. The environment would be familiar to anyone who had lived in any sort of civilized universe. A large, stamped out area of a few acres in size, dirt and hay composing the ground, temporary buildings and wagons making their own temporary city.

A Carnival!

But this carnival is different. It takes many forms. When it's dreamer is visiting, or it is inhabited, it is bright and full of life, lights and colors and smells making the rusty gears of minutiae turn, the stalls and games stocked with many a memory from Higg's past, weird and wonderful and obeyant to his whims.

But when he is not here, the carnival is silent. The buildings ruined, tattered, the rides and booths abandoned. Staffed only by indistinct shapes, faceless ghouls, and nightmares of a creature of darkness. Here, a striped clown walks, hair made of razor wire, a grin carved into it's lips as it chuckles madly to itself and stalks off on wooden stilts.

A headless strongman, his nearly nude body ripped to pieces with deep, rended slashes, an almost psychotic fury taken in destroying their form. In burly, bleeding arms he hefts a hammer and waits, the former prince of Baltimore now just a memory in Harlan's head.

Simon the Malkavian juggles flaming torches, his eyes bulging as the snake he used to carry around his neck crawls in and out of his ears. In a roped off area, stone statues of various women watch in silence, some of their features blurred and indistinct, worn away. Others are vivid and lifelike, care paid to their features. Harlan's female associates, victims, conquests, and enemies. The Garden of Gorgon.

Here, a man in a copy of Harlan's trademark suit and hat stands, selling balloons. He is dead also, the sword that killed him sticking out of his chest. Another identity, tossed away into the recesses of the Ravnos's mind.

In the center of the Carnival is the Big Top. The fabric is ripped and torn, but the interior cannot be seen. No one goes inside when Harlan is not here. He is the ringmaster. That's his place.

On the edges of the carnival is a looming apartment complex, bedecked with guady neon signs, unlit for the moment. "RIDE OF YOUR LIFE" "HOUSE OF HORRORS" The signs say. One much smaller one, emblazoned on the brickwork of the entrance, reads simply. "SHAME."

A man in a white suit and a red bowtie leans against the apartment building, smoking a cigarette. His suit is immaculate, and he shows no signs of death or agony. He should be nothing but a pile of ash. But Jimmy Twitch is more than a mere memory. His soul still exists. He is more powerful than the shades that stalk these grounds.

After all, he is Harlan's Sire.

On the opposite side of the compound is a glass greenhouse, filled with fog and surrounded by especially muddy ground. It looks like an old bayou shack, surrounded by marshy swampland. A canoe and a vintage Budweiser refrigerator lie on the ground near the entrance. This building is marked "Reptile House."

A wind blows over the dead carnival. It is silent for now.

But not for long.

  Star Piece Quest Questions
Posted by: The Vision - 07-05-2017, 07:50 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (2)

The Vision Wrote:
So the Pale Moors Star Piece Quest description says that I need to kill the Astronomers nearby to get the Star Piece. I'm currently traveling with three soldiers who are affiliated with the Astronomers. I have serious qualms about killing the team they sent me with, so I was wondering...

1) Do I need to kill them? Can there a bounty just for stealing an Artefact?
2) Do the circumstances of the killing matter all too much? That is, can I say they were monster-ized and tried to kill me so I killed in self-defense?
3) Does it have to be me who kills them?

While I'm asking, I'd also like a brief description on what the Yellow OOPS INDIGO Star Piece looks like. Not necessarily what it does, because I know that's supposed to be a mystery, but just what Vision sees inside the warehouse.

  Note from your Producer
Posted by: Karl Jak - 07-05-2017, 06:14 PM - Forum: Dante's Abyss Junkyard - Replies (9)

I thought for a while about whether or not I wanted to type this up or to just let it go, take a break from the site for a few days, and then just move on with one of my various future plots.

I figure it best that I type it anyway.  If only because it’ll bother me if I just kept my mouth shut.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the strained ‘pleasure’ of hosting a competitive event.  As part of my role as ‘host’ or ‘showrunner’ or ‘gm’ or whatever term you’d like to use, I was in conversation with the majority of the people who volunteered to participate.

Which meant I’ve had to deal with weeks of complaining, salt, and angst – directed at me, directed at other people, directed at everything.

I say this with zero regrets – some of you shouldn’t participate in competitive events like this.  It turns you into awful, unbearable people.  I know that people get competitive (and that’s healthy), but sometimes, it’s just way too much.  I love your passion.  That’s why I (usually) like dedicating myself during this time of the year to holding an event with a group of writers/people that I respect.  I get to see some of my ‘old favorites’ gear up for another shot at glory.  I also get to see new faces to the website get their feet wet. Better yet, I get to see people I remember from X months ago, and I get to be so impressed at how much they’ve grown since I last had the free time to read their writing.  It’s usually a really wonderful experience.

This year, I can’t say that I genuinely enjoyed this.  The raging (or salt, whatever you want to call it) and the hideous amount of meta-gaming is just frustrating.  It got to the point where I felt like the nonsense bled down into your character’s actions (avoiding fights, odd ball pairings for the fact that the writers were colluding, etc).

And don’t get me started on consumables or movement.  Both were just awful and gave me migraines.  In both instances, I quickly realized they were just things people were going to abuse (and I don’t mean ‘abuse maliciously’, because I don’t think anyone here is malicious), despite the fact that they were set up to try and create a leveled field.  The intent of this event was for people to wander around and fight one another.  The logistics of item drops and spam-movement wound up helping turn this more into something like DA15, where meta-groups (because even if you people aren’t together, you still feel compelled to  collude anyway so your friends win) ran the madhouse.  I think it’s just part of human nature, so I personally don’t hold ill will.

And neither should any of you.  All this crap about “Man, I lost respect for X” is garbage.

Cut it out.  You’re are all guilty of frustrating crimes of passion.  Wonderful passion but passion nevertheless.

So I hope you enjoyed it.  Despite the persistent headaches and mild frustrations, I did.  I always like to see people ‘kick it up a notch’ to try and do their best.

I will see you next year.  You’ll have your choice of a Syntech Story, a traditional competition, or something that Greg and I are going to work on at some point over the coming calendar year.

So again, thank you for your time and your frantic passion.

Love each other.

Love you all,

-Karl Jak/Alex

  OM refund request
Posted by: Guu - 07-05-2017, 03:14 PM - Forum: Help Desk - Replies (1)

Okay, I'm asking just in case. I doubt this would be okay, but I thought i'd make sure.

So I bought a powers cap thinking I had plenty of time before the forces update came out, but the end of DA snuck up on me out of nowhere. And now I barely have any OM to outfit Ambrosia.

I was wondering, considering I bought that under a missunderstanding, considering I need the om because of a rule that's only coming into law, and considering I haven't even used the cap and probably wouldn't be making use of it for months anyways, I was wondering if I could get a full refund on that...

If not, I could understand. I don't want special favors, I just thought I ask due to the circumstances. I can find some other way if I have to.

Secondary Saga II - Official Sign-Up/Character Thread
Posted by: Dawnika Snow - 07-05-2017, 01:19 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (13)

With Dante’s Abyss finally coming to a close, we can finally get this ball rolling. I would like to remind everyone that this event will take months IC and OOC if you can’t participate for that long, please don’t attempt to join. If I don’t see your character application in this thread, you will not be in Secondary Saga II. I think the basic way to do this is to write our secondaries as level 1 primes. Everyone has filled out a join form at least once here so you should know what you need to do.

If you need advice on anything hunt down ElFailz/TheFutureWarrior, Kanda/Batman, or I and we can likely provide you with what you need. If it’s an official Omniverse question please direct it to the Help Desk. We have decided that our Secondaries will be wading through the Vasty Deeps on their quest. That has been finalized.

You may now post ONLY your character profiles here. Don’t post anything but that. If you decide you’re going to drop out after you post your character here, PM me and delete you post here if you can. By posting a character here, you will officially signing up for SS II. An official start date has not been made yet, but I will announce it as soon as possible. If your Secondary is an existing Secondary, please follow the rules and travel there. I will be making a post on the dataverse with my secondary if you want to use that as an IC excuse.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Character name:
Dawnika Snow

Character source: Original

Character history:

Dawnika hails from the realm of the elements, Quotin. Quotin is a separate universe from the human world most people know. One filled with monsters, demons, angels, elves, dwarves, and many other creatures. The specific realm she is from Xenithia, the country of the shadows. Her species is specifically known as Akame, or "The Red Eyes". The Akame are a batch of demonic beings known for their rogue assassin talents. She was a political leader, none other than a princess, before she was called to the Omniverse even in the middle of all out warfare.

After being summoned into the Omniverse, she frantically searched for a way to escape. She needed to return to her home universe to save her country from total genocide. The Akame found out that there was a way to reach Omni, but was unable to reach it by herself. So, in order to reach Omni, she made a post on the Dataverse to gather followers to help her reach him.

Physical Description:
Dawnika is the age of 22 in human years. (Akame's scale for age differ from that of humans. She is actually 147.) She stands at an average height of 5' 2" and weighs in at 115lb. The most definable aspect of her being is her red eyes. As custom, she wears a suit of light metal armor underneath oriental Japanese clothing.(Yes, weeb mode engage.) She wears a cloth facemask over her face almost all the time. Her hair is a little shorter than shoulder length. The bangs cover up most of her face, so, to most humans, she would look mostly dark or creepy. Her build is most closely around lean. She's neither muscular, nor is she anywhere having a "few extra pounds. Lastly, she is ambidextrous.

Stats:

ATK: 1
DEF: 0
SPD: 4
TEC: 5

Proficiencies: Physical Strength(1000), Ranged(1000)

Powers: Burst Movement(800), Master Acrobat(400)

Items(900): Power Pill(x2), Iron Pill, Medigel(x6)

Moves:

Kagetsume - 300 OM

The signature weapon used by Dawnika Snow. It gets it's Japanese name from the nickname of it's wielder, ShadeClaw. This blade has ended many lives in her home universe. The blade has a reach of 3' 4" from hilt to point. It was normally made of a material from Xenithia called Mun,a material that mocks black steel. It is just a simple sword that can be swung, no special powers.

Chained Shield - 300OM requires Physical

I protective piece of metal used to block attacks. The shield is chained onto Dawn’s right forearm, allowing her to grip her sword with both hands and still be able to defend against attacks. That’s about all it’s good for.

Umbra - 300 requires Ranged

A bow and arrow made for Dawn specifically. Her family’s insignia is burned into the wood of the bow. Dawn can carry 50 arrows in her quivers(She has 2: One on her back, and one around her waist that each hold 25.) The arrows fly up to 15 meters, flying straight for about 10 meters then begins to descend. It takes one second to load the arrow in the bow and another second to draw the bow and release the arrow. It’s not very fatiguing to use, but requires a decent amount of skill to use while moving.
