The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - Gildarts - 07-05-2017

I DESIRED POSITIVITY. GIVE ME YOUR PROTONS +

Complete the sentence, and be nice about it too!

I'll go first.

The Omniverse has helped me ... Get over my "stage fright." Before I was SO mortified if one person EVER read my writing and didn't like it, like OMG you'll die of shame Sam, but now I take pride in it.. Mostly. Anyway, it has helped me become more comfortable with collaboration and the fundamentals of critique and improvement. Also I get to write with friends AND some of the greatest writers ever and that is a dream come true for me.

RE: The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - Handsome Jack - 07-05-2017

The Omniverse has helped me... be more open with myself. Offline, I was very reserved and kept to myself. I still have issues initiating conversation, but I've started actually talking to people. I WILL say that I'm not as... unfiltered offline as I am here. But that has a lot to do with the fact that I don't really have friends around here. I'm more comfortable around you guys because I feel close to ya, even separated by a screen and large distances.

RE: The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - The Vision - 07-06-2017

The Omniverse has helped me... because I currently have no friends outside of this website. I am an American at heart but I'm stuck in Korea with a family I hate because my surgery requires I don't go in any airplanes for two months. I honestly don't think I could've made it this long if I didn't have people here who supported me and allowed me to think of other things, especially since my family doesn't, really. Thank you, Omniverse.

(Sorry, Gil, I'm also experiencing a proton shortage)

RE: The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - The Humble Sage - 07-06-2017

The Omniverse helped me... to stay committed to writing. I joined the site shortly after ending a two-ish year relationship. It wasn't a rough breakup, thankfully, but it left me feeling like I needed a new project to occupy my sudden increase in free time. In the past, moods like this have petered out in a month or so, and I usually don't actually get much done. Writing has always been something I do, I used to do Nanowrimo for those of you who know what that is, but it too often ends up in the "I'm going to do this " category of my life. The stuff I've written for the Omniverse has kept me actively writing for a long stretch of time, and has helped me to write in a variety of situations that I would not have expected. This site is helping me grow as a writer and I'm loving it!

RE: The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - Oleander - 07-06-2017

The Omniverse helped me... distance myself from reality. This sounds bad, but it's actually VERY essential, even if you ask other people. I have anxiety and I'm very empathic, which means if someone else hurts, I hurt. I can't watch the news because I'll feel terrible and start worrying about everything, and I worry so much about stupid things that I can literally make myself sick. Psychosomatic illnesses are a real phenomena (closely related to the Placebo effect) that I suffer heavily from. Omniverse and its combination of storytelling, shared perspective, RPG mechanics (among other things) is enough that it consumes my entire attention span. I can safely write in the Omniverse, even bad stuff that would usually upset me, then go "Glad that's not real!"

And I forget that I was freaking out before a post, it's like a medication free reset button. Needless to say, this contributes to my post count. >_< You can tell when I'm really messed up, because of the number of posts in a day and how excited I get afterwards.

Edit: Also, physics states that if you want to attain a positive charge, you should lose electrons. Drop the negativity and positivity is already there! Trying to gain protons is just going to blow up in the end! Literally. It's called fusion... and if the proton is moving too fast, it will just shatter what's there, breaking up your atoms in a process called fission, and at that point you just fall apart in a big explosive mess.

Because SCIENCE!

RE: The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - Amaterasu - 07-06-2017

The Omniverse has helped me... to rediscover my love for big, interesting plots, and to write multi-paragraph posts rather than snippets. Also, to improve upon myself as a writer, in terms of quality.

I have a pretty long streak of roleplaying that I kept uninterrupted almost since I started some 10 years ago across various sites, but it was usually with people who were around my skill level of writing - and that's in the best case scenario. I've had my share of roleplays where people replied with single-word posts (People writing " *smiles* " and nothing else, ugh... if you don't know what to write, just tell me, damnit) and I've been told several times that I am "the best writer they ever played with." I am not writing this to egostroke, but to point out that it made me realize I was writing in a community that just wasn't a good fit for me anymore. The same happened to me on a fanfiction site where 99% of the stories were pairings or bad crossovers and .9% were either short or forever-unfinished "good" stories.

Well, the Omniverse encourages you to write regularly and to write much thanks to the OM system, it encourages good quality because threads can get bonuses and what you write will be there for everyone to read, and most importantly I'm not single-handedly the best writer. There's numerous people with their own qualities in their writing (some write good fights, others are good at writing frightening experiences etc.) and many writers who write better than me, who I can learn from. Plus the community is amazing and small enough that everyone can know everyone else. (Honestly I could go on for a while about why I love the Omniverse)

RE: The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - Beta Ray Bill - 07-06-2017

The Omniverse helped me... Gain friends and help me with my depression. Outside this site I don't really have a lot of friends I just have a little have very small group and that's it. Here in this site I hang out with the Avengers and several other people who generally listen to me and enjoy talking to me. This site has helped out a lot of my depression like here I'm able to get away from the problems around the house or outside in school. This site is a time consumer allowing me to role play as characters that had entertained me as a child.

RE: The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - Ezrihel - 07-06-2017

The Omniverse has helped me to become more social, both online and offline. Knowing that no matter what happens I have friends here who genuinely DO care about me and my well being means a lot. It's helped me to greatly improve my writing simply by being able to read other people's work regularly and it has helped me to train my patience when trying to explain things. I know a lot of y'all might not know this, but I have bad issues with my anger IRL, and OV has seriously helped with that- since I can't just get mad over little things on here.

Also OV is how I met my significant other QwQ I would have never met Demetri had I not joined, and he's helped me through so many things and so much. I'm grateful that I had that opportunity every single day.

I love all of you guys. This is my home.

RE: The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - Yu Kanda - 07-06-2017

The omniverse helped me finding the creative site of me which i never thought i had. I used to do a bit of RP in games and such. But i wanted to put Gaming away, focus on my sports, job and gf. When i did, i found myself missing the RP element. I went looking and BOOM, omniverse popped up and filled that RP element i was missing in my life. So nothing dramatic or life-changing like some of you. But a positive addition to an already positive life.

RE: The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - Hiro Protagonist - 07-06-2017

The Omniverse helped me recover from my brother's sudden death, and keep sane during the two years I spent supporting my family. Making friends here that then went on to do RPG Tabletop over skype helped me maintain my need for social interaction. I have seriously never laughed harder than those games on Roll20.

Jeff, Shawn, Darjan, Kyle, Tartaros, Magus, Nep, Gildarts, Jade, and everyone else, I hope that if y'all ever come to NYC you let me know so I can pay back that kindness in person.

RE: The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - Gamzee Makara - 07-06-2017

The Omniverse has helped me grow as a writer and stay committed to writing. Okay yeah I like, disappeared with sparse activity for about 5 or 6 months but like

two years after I joined, here I am. Posting still, stayed active through DA, and am currently planning to go on some nonsensical and whimsical and mirthful adventures with you crazy fools. I've also learned an immense amount from reading others' work and other people reading mine. It's a good feeling, collaborating with everyone. It's a good feeling to write in general, and I'm glad the ov has helped me keep that spark.

I've also met some pretty amazing people. I won't name names - there are far too many :'D Love you guys. Dearly. Truly. Honk.

Thank you Omniverse for being there when a lot of other sites weren't. I've met way too many awesome people on this site. I also improved over time thanks to the Omniverse Smile

RE: The Omniverse Has Helped Me... - Luci - 07-06-2017

The Omniverse has helped me stay clean from hard drugs. I was about 24 hours clean when I signed up, knowing that I had to have something that would occupy my mind, especially because I was on house arrest and very bored. Thanks, Omniverse!
