  Too Similar
Posted by: James Knight - 09-06-2017, 11:02 PM - Forum: The Creative Corner - Replies (3)

Before I use this for a character later in the month, I want to know if the one in the red helmet is too similar to anyone's character. If it is, I will keep looking for a costume for the character I intend on making. It's the one to the far right. The art work is not mine, but that of Phil Cho.

Ash appears exactly in the spot she was thinking about at the time she blew her whistle. She looked down at her hand just in time to watch the used whistle shatter into light and float away.

Its job was done, hers had begun once more.

At her back was the Library she had gone to with Jaixe to research the topics that interested him the most. Specifically, she could remember Diablo and a couple of places that were important to his mind.

She looked back over her bare shoulder at the solid wood door’s chipped finish. The dark stain was speckled with the lighter wood under it showing the damage. Some might find it symbolic that there was something gorgeous under the darkness. This metaphor was lost on her, or at least so needlessly happy that Ash wouldn’t give two shits even if someone pointed it out to her.

The Demoness stepped out and onto the steps, her nearly naked form bare to anyone lucky or unlucky enough to see her. She caught the colorful graffiti on the walls, decorating it with words that were difficult to read unless you squinted your eyes and cocked your head. She could make out some tags, had she not been on a mission she might stop to layer her own name on it.

Glancing down the other way she could hear hover cars passing the alley’s entrance, the little library almost lost to this world. She watched as a tumbleweed of trash drifted past her view, bouncing across the stage with utter delight. Opposite walls to her were stained with layers of green and red from various liquids oozing out of the pipes that occasionally appeared in the walls or along them.

Ash grinned to herself. Like when she was hacking a computer, she found a back door and exploited it successfully. In her heart she was a little sad that she didn't get to see her ultra-marine boyfriend, but this way she might live long enough to go meet the man of the hour. Harlan Higgs.

She grinned wickedly. Ash paused long enough to summon two very important things.

First is a set of clothes as it was too dangerous to walk around Tier 5 with nothing on. The blue light began as a single circle at her center and split like a reproducing cell. One floated up and the other floated down, creating a magical girl method of changing her clothes but it worked. When it was done she had on her usual tiniest skirt possible - rust orange in color, skin tight leggings stretch across her ass that vanished behind knee high tight brown leather boots with laces up the front, her bright orange shirt clung to her upper body but only reached down past her rib-cage showing off most of her tattoo along her belly, it’s unusual amount of sleeves is covered by an army green crop-top jacket that was much looser than her skin; its sleeves were rolled up into large cuffs which were held up by brass colored buttons. Lastly, her arms up to her elbows were covered with dark army green and black arm-warmers, the single silver cuff still firmly locked on her arm.

Secondly was a Warp Whistle that sat around her neck. It worked with the ‘combat ready’ look she was going for, but the greens half clashed with her skin color, not by too much.

Ash fished out a packet of chewing gum out of her pocket while she stepped much more confidently into the streets as she popped two pieces of the fruity stuff into her mouth. As she did it brought attention to both the tongue piercing and freshly summoned lip ring. In her brows were half circles of silver, a much-missed silver ring in her nose, and an almost long lost ring in her navel. From one of her ears hung a peculiar gold key, but the other holes were filled with the usual simple silver rings.

With her habit of gum satisfied and the rest of it stuffed back into her pocket, she used her communicator with the map she’d downloaded prior to decide where to go from there. She was only guessing where a classy vampire might be, but she wasn’t going to get anywhere standing around.

Mock Fight IC - Ratione VS Ebony
Posted by: homin-Ratione - 09-05-2017, 03:40 PM - Forum: The Creative Corner - Replies (5)

Ratione Intro Post

Ratione walked over the glazed wood paneling in the human school's apprent recreational center. Specifically, where the human students were practitioned in a traditional form of martial arts known commonly as "Kendo", or at least that had been what the Novan was told. Honestly, he had not been given much insight by the Ambassador before being dropped in this world, per usual. All he knew was that he was supposed to be replacing a decomissioned instructor, and he had to teach a class of children how to fight his way, instead of theirs.

Easy enough.

Resting on his shoulder, tip up and pommel cupped in his hand, was his own greatsword, and he was attired in his armor's jumpsuit as a form of "workout clothes", as the humans called it. Oddly enough, no one had commented on the fact that, in this context, he was an alien. Then again, Switch did say they would not noticed unless it was pointed out. The Furtumin figured it had something to do with the reality warping.

However, observing the style of kento lent other more localized questions for the Novan. Specifically, the inferiority of their training. It was so contained and rehearsed, he would be surprised if any one of these students could handle themselves in war. On top of that, if they were training some kind of militia, why not train them in polearms? In his own experience, it was a lot easier to train a lot of inexperienced men to walk and move in unison with pikes rather than the intricacies of sword play.

The Furtumin shrugged his shoulders to his own internal monologue. Ah, well, he was not one to question his mission here. In fact most of the time these kinds of missions required him to be as ignorant as possible to the actual agenda for things to work. The old man opted to wait for his class to shuffle in, checking his human wrist watch and taking a few minutes to interpret their time-keeping language.

As Chara looked around she rubbed her arms as the wind chilled her to the core. “Sins and injustices aside i really don’t hate humanity, there really the only reason the monster’s are still alive.” She starts to walk forward not looking behind. “Hopefully Darkshire will be happy to have a ally against Dracula. I mean that is how most attacks win. Eather by overwhelming forces, or by military might though there is the rare fluke.” She knew that Illidian messed up with his lack of medieval strategy.

He might be a great warrior or a general but his main flaw was his lack of preparation that she saw. “A attack on a stronghold like Darkshire would need more than just say a foot army.  Generally you want three to four times the force count when considering the assault, and that isn’t even counting the siege engines you need also.”

She knew it had a chance of working but when considering that others had failed. “Ally’s and more influence is needed if we want to push back Dracula. Biggest item’s we have is our gold, our skills and our magic.

She finally had a plan of action now. Darkshire trade route increasing the cash Darkshire has allowing better weapons and more troops and thus helping new home with food and the ability to defend itself from attacks. Increasing influence and the borders would be asking large name factions to help push back dracula with the prospects of land and payment.

She knew at least frisk was here and maybe they could help and or ask there friends for help if by some luck it’s not genocide frisk. She didn’t even know why she thought frisk would help. “Am i that desperate to get Dracula away?” She also knew that maybe camelot would be willing to help?

Once she had reached a place that was surrounded by trees she started to form Snowden town creating a few notable places like Grillbys, the library, and even the shop. She then took the liberty of creating a save star. She goes to touch the star but just at the last moment she flinches back memories coming back opening painful wounds.

“I can’t save even here. It wouldn’t be fair to them that i save and come back and rewind time. But . . .” She felt a urge to just touch it and save there. Her breathing started to get sporadic as she could feel the sins of frisk crawling on her back.

She looked away keeping it there just hanging motionless except for the four pronged star expanding and contracting normally. A person was soon behind her as she could tell from the crunch of the snow from under her feet.

In one quick motion Chara had unsheathed her knife and looked to see a familiar face; the real knife changing color as she points it at the pink girl only to have a spear pointed at her. Bete noire wagged her unarmed hand. “Is that how you greet a old friend? I mean it’s not like i knew you were here. So lets just put away the weapon and you don't get hurt, alright?”

Chara reluctantly sheathed her knife before sighing with her red eyes flaring up. “What do you want?” Betty chuckled as she deformed her spear and was petting the weird blob. “Mind you if i was still filled with hate i would be able to kick you around like a soccer ball. I beat a four vs. one still standing and quite literally ready to end it.”

Betty laughed. “Don’t make me laugh you beating me hilarious, well it doesn’t matter but i do have a offer you shouldn’t refuse. It seems Undyne is here and beat up the flower quite badly. Also it seems your “Book” has taken off with the kids but what if they knew that monster is real? We both have a duty to protect the timeline you know against frisk. One broken and fought to end it all and the other trying to finish the others work.”

Chara looked annoyed. “Leave now, i have no plans that include you helping me.” She looked ready to tussle with the child of fear.”  Betty chuckled as she walked away with Akumu by her side. “Just don’t be sad child of the monsters when things go against you.” Bête noire soon was out of her sight and she sighed as she finished up Snowden town's buildings and decorations.

  A Stranger in the Moors
Posted by: Lambert - 09-04-2017, 06:36 PM - Forum: The Pale Moors - Replies (2)

When Leonard Snart first arrived in Darkshire, he was not immediately impressed. He had expected to see a city, like how Camelot was described to him. But instead, he came across a small town in the middle of a dark, dreary field. It was the first sight that greeted him when he walked through the gate into the Pale Moors, and if the rumors were to be true, it was the only sign of civilization he'd really find here. But despite the shoddy look of the actual town itself, the security force was enough to give him pause. When he made it through the city gate, he scoped out the sentries on his way in, and came to the conclusion that putting up a fight would not be a good idea.

He came across a little street corner almost immediately upon passing through what they called 'Ranger's Gate.' From here, he found a single-story building with a gray roof. The sign on the front of it read 'The Brass Fang.' He decided that this would be his first destination.

When he entered the front door of the establishment, most heads turned towards him to see who it was. He was standing in a blue eskimo outfit, which was out of place in this typically warm environment. The hood was pulled up over his head, covering most of it. His goggles rested up on his forehead, exposing his face. After a few moments of pause, the heads turned away from him, determining him not to be interesting (or imposing) enough to pay attention to. He was happy for that. He put one foot in front of the other, and made his way through the open room, past the wooden benches, to the bar.

He found a seat near the end of the bar. The bartender, a large bearded man, stepped towards him in the midst of wiping a glass clean. "Whatcha want?"

Leonard looked to his left. There was a sight that had a couple menu items on it. He put his finger up to the line that said 'Buckwheat Porridge, Mug of Cider.' "That," he told the barkeep. The man nodded in response and walked off. He returned briefly to give Leo his drink, and then disappeared again.

In the next twenty or so minutes, Snart took his chance to survey the surroundings and reflect on what he was doing. He had recently arrived at this place called the Omniverse and was guided to a place called Camelot. Rather then let himself be taken to a large city by a bunch of soldiers, he gathered up information on the closest town, which was this Darkshire. He got away from the soldiers, but aside from that, he had no other plans. No real idea of where he was or what he had gotten himself into. All he knew was that for now, the Omniverse was his home, and he'd have to work to get answers.

"Eh, you there," someone said behind him. Leonard moved to sit sideways on his stool to get a look at the voice's origin. It was a man with long, white hair sitting at the table closest to him. He had a stocky female with him as well. "Haven't seen you 'round here before. What's with the get-up? Why you wearin a coat?"

"Because I'm Cold," Snart said simply. He didn't elaborate further. Both the white-haired man and his female companion exchanged looked, but just shrugged, seemingly not bothered by his answer. Even if they didn't get it, they pretended to. It was about this time that the barkeep returned with a bowl of porridge and a re-fill for his drink. Leonard took a spoonful of the meal into his mouth and nodded at the barkeep. It was good. He was impressed.

His attention shifted back to the duo at the table. The silver-haired man leaned back in his chair and put his feet up on the table. "My name is Lican. This is Burga." He nodded to the butch-looking friend next to him. They both had on armor, which suggested some kind of military affiliation. They weren't wearing the metal plates just for their comfort, that was for sure.

"Leonard Snart," he responded between mouthfuls of porridge. "A pleasure."

"What brings you to Darkshire, Mr. Snart?" Lican asked.

Suddenly Leonard felt like he was being interrogated. The tone in Lican's voice was nice, welcoming even. But it had clear intentions. He saw a stranger and he didn't trust him. Smart. "I'm just passing through," The man known as Cold told him. "I'm new here, in this...place. Still trying to get my bearings. Think I'll stay a bit and figure out my next move." Lican nodded at his answers. "My turn for a question, if you don't mind. You military?"

"Darkshire Town Guard," the female answered. Burga was her name. "If you're going to be staying a bit, you should look to sign up. We can always use the recruits, and it'll earn your keep here. Assumin' you stay out of trouble."

"Aye, that's a good place to start," Lican agreed. "Keepin' out of trouble, that is. You gonna keep out of trouble here, Snart?"

Leonard felt like he needed to give his full attention to the duo, who were clearly sizing him up. He put the spoon down in the bowl of porridge and turned to them. His face stayed stoic, as usual. "I wouldn't dream of it," he promised. After all, he wasn't going to just tell them that he was a world class thief. Of course not.

"You should see the captain in the mornin," Lican suggested. He reaches out to grab his bottle of ale and held it up. Burga held up her mug, as well. "Cheers, Mr. Snart. Welcome to the Darkshire."

"Cheers," Snart said, forcing a smile on his lips and he held up his own glass.

Joining a town guard wasn't exactly how Leonard saw his future in this Omniverse. But it was a solid place to start, at least. If anyone was going to have information on what his next move should (or could) be, it was the soldiers here in this desolate town. He felt like there was a history here, and if he could get to the bottom of that, then he'd be well on his way to identifying where he fit in the Omniverse. If he fit at all.

  That Night...?
Posted by: Yukika Inoue - 09-04-2017, 05:16 AM - Forum: The Pale Moors - Replies (20)

The white blankness disappeared, but what emerged on the other side of the portal was no more pleasant. An open field of overgrown grass. The only notable landmark was a blackened shape in the distance that was some kind of structure. Most likely civilization, that would be a great place to start some questioning. Maybe she would find some information on herself in the process.

The red-headed warrior’s hands hummed like an over-powered magnet and flashed slightly black as her weapon and shield floated into her hands. The shield locked into her bracer with a reassuring click leaving her left hand free. She should stay careful, in her condition she was in a weak and vulnerable state. Even so, she still remembered how to fight. Her heels left indents behind her in the dirt as she worked her way toward the mysterious structure.

It didn't take very long for something to hone in on her, and it wasn't the encounter she was expecting. No more than ten minutes after her entrance to the verse, she saw a large group of blackened creatures as dark as the dead of night in hell. Only word found it’s way out of her mouth when memories flushed through her head like a bursting dam of water exploding into a waterfall.

“Grimm.” She uttered to herself almost inaudibly. They were attacking a small farm and she happened to be close by. Without a moment's hesitation, the huntress charged into battle. Flashes of a dark night lit only by the broken moon and dim fires that had collected around her from devastation of these creatures. A woman in three pieces and a girl dressed in black and red. Her eyes trailed towards the sky, seeing the crow-like Grimm cawing from their kingdom in the air.

The Xiphos in her hand extended past its extents of a sword and became a spear. She took it under hand and launched into one's face. The metal stuck into the Nevermore’s neck and it dropped from the sky like a sack of potatoes. It careened down towards her and slammed into the grassy plain next to her. A black aura surrounded Miló and returned to her hand. That got the attention of nightmare beings. At least ten of them, Beowolves they come to mind as they charge towards her, completely forgetting about the barn filled with miscellaneous farm animals. Other beings - Creeps? - blasted from the ground, spraying dirt up like brown mist. Just another day in the life of a huntress.

Her weapon came to life again, switching back to it’s Xiphos mode. As her blade ran deep through the dark creatures of Grimm, images of that night kept flooding her mind. Who were these people she was seeing? What is going on during this night that she keeps seeing in her mind? The bashing of her shield in the face of a Beowolf brought her back to her into the fight. Her sword impaled the black beast it's mechanical sound extended through the Beowolf’s body piercing its deadly javelin point through its back. Forcing her enemy back, she jammed the end through another one and into the ground, which she pole vaulted over taking her spear with her. The rest fell just as easily as those two. Metal meeting flesh - or whatever it is Grimm have - more than once. The precision of the famed Pyrrha Nikos was undeniable. The invincible woman cut through enemies as if she was mowing the lawn. When the smoke cleared from the last dissipation of the final Grimm. The huntress took a deep breath and yelled out to the sky.

“Who am I?!”

So, I've been trying to get back into anime. Not sure what's new that's good. Any suggestions?

I respond well to slice of life comedies, particularly with a fairly good female cast. Mostly willing to branch out

Currently watching through Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. Very sweet series, though slightly hampered by it's source material...

Seriously, what's with KyoAni adapting manga that has heavy fan service and turning them into heartwarming tales? Where were they when the Kodomo no Jiikan or Boko no Pico animes were made? They could have saved the world from that filth...

How to Make Friends, By Heidi
Posted by: Harry Potter - 09-03-2017, 09:08 PM - Forum: The Tangled Green - Replies (12)

***

Heidi enters Tangled Green cheerfully enough, her blonde pigtails bouncing along with the rest of her, a big pastey smile on her face. She straightens her flowing pink top and smooths her skirt over her bare thighs as a cool breeze picks up. The first thing she does when her white tennis shoes touch the soil of the green verse is to breath in deeply, taking in the sweet and pungent aroma of the forest. She stands in the sunlight for several minutes, her eyes closed and her arms outstretched, inhaling the scent of honesysuckle and exhaling it with a tinge of bubblegum.

When Heidi opens her big amber eyes she realizes she is in a clearing in a thick woods. Even to Heidi, a city girl if there ever was one, the plant life seems very off. There is bamboo, palm trees, oak trees, willow trees, mushrooms the size of trees. She hears the squawk of parrots, the croak of frogs, the chirp of insects, the screeches of monkeys, but also other, stranger animal sounds she is quite sure she does not recognize.

There are several badly-maintained paths leading off from the clearing, but there are no signs, and the towering trees make scouting ahead impossible.

Heidi chews her gum for a while, thinking, then blows a bubble and pops it, creating a loud echoing snap around the clearing and startling several birds. She then bends to tighten the laces on her shoes, her tiny skirt almost magically covering her ample bottom discretely.

Seemingly satisfied, Heidi tucks her body into a crouch. The soles of her shoes start to glow a bright neon pink. Suddenly, she rockets into the air, leaving a cloud of dirt behind.

Her first bounce takes Heidi up into the air about ten meters. She peeks over the tops of the bamboo and willow trees, and into the Understory of the forest. The woods seems to thicken a little ways back, but Heidi can only see the lower branches of the largest trees. The lower branches are all wrapped in vines sprouting enormous bright flowers buzzing with insects.

Heidi lands in a crouch, bounces right back up again, this time leaving a little divet in the ground at her feet. The perky blonde Prime rises thirty meters into the air, her pigtails flapping around her head wildly as she surveys the Tangled Green form a new height. Here she can see into the Canopy, where firebreathing monkeys scurry across everpresent thick vines, fleeing from carnivorous flowers and flying pythons. She realizes that her clearing seems to be a valley, a low point with the forest rising up in all directions around it. Still, Heidi sees no signs of civilization; no towns, no roads, to smoke from fires, nothing.

This time when Heidi lands, her eyes flare briefly pink, and when she jumps in the air she leaves a mushrooms cloud of dirt in her wake and a shallow hole.

Heidi beholds the majesty of Tangled Green from two hundred feet in the air, and her big amber eyes widen. She sees brightly glowing pixies chasing each other through the tips of the giant Kapok trees that infest the verse, the sun burning brightly behind them. She sees a jaguar with rainbow feathered wings gliding over the impossibly tall bamboo shoots. She sees giant eagles screeching over the Sierra Slime. She sees a brightly glowing beacon of emerald light way off in the distance. And towering above everything, the massive Yggrasil tree. Heidi briefly snaps a picture with her phone.

As Heidi descends, her mind is on many things; the jaguar, the massive tree, where she was going to go, remembering not to swallow her gum. It is therefore understandable that if someone, say a sublime being of transcendent beauty with hair like wildfire and eyes like sapphires, were to wander beneath her mid-jump then that someone might end up with a face full of Heidi.

Heidi squeaks in an absurdly high-pitched voice as she collides with the girl on the ground.

  Second Time's the Charm
Posted by: Professor Sunshine - 09-03-2017, 03:20 AM - Forum: The Nexus - Replies (1)

As Syn eventually revived from the death that was caused by being skewered by Cirno's icicles, he remembered most of what had happened before his death, and because of this he was furious for multiple reasons. The first and most important reason was simple: not only has he been hurt by two fairies and Yuuka, but he was killed by them as well, which he originally had considered would be impossible seeing on how strong he was before coming to this Omniverse. He was also angry at himself for losing the battle against these fairies, though he mainly redirected that anger at the fairies.

Despite this, Syn Shenron was also feeling a new emotion, one he only has scarcely feeled a few times before coming to the Omniverse, that emotion being fear itself. Syn was now slightly scared on what other fighters were as strong as those fairies, as if they could kill Syn after a long battle, then imagine what some of the more powerful beings in the Nexus could do to Syn, if they had managed to come and challenge him to a battle. Thinking on what to do, Syn tried to sit down and try to find a way to calm his raging anger, thinking that this must have been the cause of his first death in this realm.

Eventually, a day after sitting down and trying to concentrate on stopping his anger, Syn had managed to somewhat curb it, and even though he still held a bit of a grudge against the fairies and Yuuka, he had mostly swallowed down his lust for battle, so that he could try to get somewhere where he could train easily for when he could get a chance to fight the fairies once again. As he got up and began to walk around again, he remembered the gate that he had seen earlier while he was walking around the first time. Deciding to make that his goal for now, Syn began to walk in what he thought was the direction of the gate, being a bit unsure since he was not sure which direction the gate was in from the fountain, and vice versa.

As he continued to walk, Syn tried to think on if there could be any way to make this trek go any faster, thinking on what to do to get to the gate as fast as he could. As he continued to think hard on what to do, Syn was beginning to focus, and as he focused on thinking how to get there faster, a small car began to form in front of him, as if it was being created by his thoughts. Curious on how the car appeared from thin air, happy that he had found a quicker way to travel to the gate, and slightly amused that there was another thing that he could destroy without being hurt by someone as strong as the fairies that he had fought earlier, Syn launched a powerful kick into the car and denting it hard before hopping into the car to begin driving it torwards the gate at around 50MPH.

Hey, folks. So I would like to appoint Moon Knight as a co-leader of the Avengers (and also fire Captain America). I swear this was something I could do, since I appointed Cap as leader, but I don't know how to do it anymore. Could someone help out?
