  Gunther's forced retirement and replacement
Posted by: Oleander - 12-15-2017, 04:44 PM - Forum: Omniverse Discussion - Replies (11)

So I mentioned when I created Gunther that he was a DC from the One Punch universe created a little over a year ago with friends on a private site... so for a while I've been playing him in two locations, with Omniverse Gunther being a sort of "rehash" of the other version... Alas, my friends are a bit irked about this version, since I wrote them out of his backstory (they don't do forum roleplay) but kept their influence in regards to moves and personality.

I've been given the ultimatum to either switch here, or switch there... Though I have a lot of plans for him here (with a 4k word post in google doc) he has not made much progress here, unlike the eighteen month voyage of grit and glory he's gone through in the One Punch roleplay. Not to mention I'd lose Veteran Status, which means I'd have to wait till any new character has been active six months to reach a second tier of power (AKA B class) and a year to reach A class.

On that note, I'll be retiring Stein rather abruptly. I still have four weeks till I can pick a new PC, so I thought I'd see if you guys could help me come up with an idea for a good replacement. I might still go for Avengers, though it really depends on who I end up going with.

Edit: I'm considering donating to get the cooldown lessened, considering Christmas Bonus is rolling around.

The radiant light of the midday sun shimmered throughout the city, reflecting and shining over the several metallic and glass constructions. While it wasn't a particularly hot day, the light was bright enough to make anyone crave for cover under the shadows the buildings and trees casted. There were a lot of people passing by in the streets, and even more so cars and flying vehicles crossing through the sky. It was a bright, busy day in Tier One of Coruscant.

Maria and Jerry were sitting on one of the benchs at the park near the Nexus gate. They were supposed to be paying attention to the many people passing by, but only Maria had anything resembling enthusiasm for their current activity. She had her gaze focused at the gate, waiting until the perfect victim crossed it. Jerry, on the other hand, was being barely kept awake by his sister's insistence in acompanying her.

"We've been here all day. Are you sure this is going to work?", said Jerry in a monotone voice. He couldn't keep his eyes focused – the bright light of the midday, while a beautiful sight, was only burning his eyes.

"I can't be sure of everything, but we're not losing anything by trying". Maria, on the other hand, was thrilled by the experience, eagerly observing the environment with her binoculars. No person escaped her artificial hawk-like vision.

"We lost the whole morning"

"You can't expect to win without an investment"

"Can't you do that on your own? I'll rather be sleeping"

"That's your fault for playing games all night! I told you yesterday we were going to do this today"

"Can't we do this tomorrow?"

"No! This is my free day. It's now or never"

"I rather it be never..."

An exasperated sigh was Maria's response to her brother's lack of enthusiasm for the mission. She was working her ass off to fix Jerry's mistake, and he couldn't even keep himself awake! What an ungrateful family she had to deal with. But would she back down?

No. Never.

After several minutes of watching, a person finally came from the portal: a male human on his late teens. Looking at every direction posible, stopping people to consult who knows what, and overall marveled at the city...

Yes, the perfect victim.

"Psst, Jerry!", whispered Maria. The lack of response prompted her to hit him on the head, waking him up. "Look! I've found our prime!"

She gave Jerry her binoculars, and pointed him at the guy she just spotted.

"Are you sure he's a prime?" Jerry was still as unenthusiasted as when they started. Probably more so, given the lack of sleep and the several hours of waiting.

"Of course! Just look at him! I'm pretty sure he's asking for directions – no one but newbies do that!"

"He could be coming from one of the other 'verses, visiting the city for the first time"

"Does he look like he's from somewhere else?"

"I don't know! But I'm not sure about this. What if he's secretly a sociopathic murderer?"

"There's a shitton of 'troopers here. He can't kill anyone"

"And what if he doesn't like us? He's a human"

"And you're a pussy! Give me that!"

Why had her brother to be so stupid and uncooperative?! Maria took her binoculars and walked by herself towards the suposedly new prime.

Leo couldn't help it but be amazed by what he saw. The inmense skycrappers, the flying cars, the unbelievable clean streets... It looked like a city straight out of a sci-fi! Everything was so bright and glossy and metallic...

But as cool as the city was, his priority right now was to locate the library the guards at the portal told him about. He didn't know what was happening, where he was, and how to get back home, so for now he should be focusing on that. He could later admire the view by taking some photos... If he had his camera.

An old man who passed by was kind enough to enlight Leo on how to find the library. It wasn't that far from where he was, and it seemed everyone knew about it, so he shouldn't worry about getting lost.

However, on his walk towards the library, someone tipped him on the shoulder, calling his attention. It was a girl around Leo's age, dressed casually. But she wasn't human: her purple-ish skin and horns delating the fact. And was that a tail?

"Hey!", said the girl. "You seem a little lost. Do you need any help?"

"Well, I'm not lost, in the sense that I know where I'm going, but... Yes, I could use some help"

"Nice! What do you need help with?"

"I'm looking for the library of... How was it called? Coruscunt? Corasunt?"

"Coruscant"

"Yes, that one"

"I can take you there, if you want. I know this city inside and out – or at least this part from around the portal... But don't worry! The library is not that far, and I know where it is"

"That'll be very nice of you. Thanks"

"Heh"

They both walked together towards the library. At no point did she stop smiling, sometimes even grinning too. She seemed nice – the first one so far to actually offer help. And if she wasn't... Well, there were plenty of security here. The surprising amount of armed guards and security cameras didn't go unnoticed by Leo, regardless of how distracting the shining city was.

"So," said the girl, still smiling. "What are you doing here? Why do you want to visit the library?"

"Well... Someone told me I could find some information I'm interested in. And I don't have anything else to do, so..."

"What informaition, exactly? If you don't mind me asking, of course"

"It's ok! I'm... A little lost, and..."

"And?"

"… Just that. Last night I was at my apartment. When I woke up... I wasn't anymore. I think that's worth looking for, if I can find the answer for it"

"Did you woke up in a white place with a fountain after a one-sided chat with what seems to be a god?"

Leo stopped walking.

"So you know what happened to me!"

"Everyone knows about that! Except, of course, the new primes, which you seem to be"

"Ah?"

"Look," she stopped smiling. "What if, instead of going to the library, you come with me? The park is a better place to chat anyways – benchs are awesome. And I could present you to my brother too. And we can answer all those newbie questions you have. What do you think?"

"Where exactly?"

"The park at the portal"

"Ah... Seems fine by me. But I would still want to go to the library at some point"

"We can go all together!"

And so, they walked... To where they came from. Leo didn't like the idea of leaving aside his trip, but asking someone may be an easier way of getting some idea of what was going on. And she seemed very eager to help him, so...

"I'm Maria. What's your name?"

"Leonardo. Nice to meet you, Maria"

"Same here"

  Grapefruit, Zero Ranger

CHARACTER NAME: Grapefruit

CHARACTER SOURCE: Final Boss Raw Label

CHARACTER HISTORY:  Much of Grapefruit’s memory has been wiped, because Omni had called him to the Omniverse right at the moment of his death. All he can remember was flying around, in the middle of a war fought between a vast alien fleet and two human pilots. He fought against both sides just for the sake of it. Perhaps he had another reason, he’s not sure. In the end, he died after a fulfilling battle between the two humans… or did he sacrifice himself to save them from the blast of an alien battleship? It doesn’t matter. Now he must focus on finding his place in this world he has been transported to.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Grapefruit is a humanoid, dark green robot with orange eyes. In the world he came from he was the size of a fighter plane, but in the Omniverse he is 6 feet 5 inches tall. His limbs are long and slender, and are offset by his large shoulder pads. It looks like he is wearing a mask, but this ‘mask’ is actually part of his face. At the center of Grapefruit’s chest is a large, orange-glowing capsule that looks like the cockpit of a fighter plane. Grapefruit is powered by an engine inside his torso. This engine is powered by orange juice, which Grapefruit intakes through his mouth. Why orange juice? Don't ask. Lastly, there are numerous weapons and gadgets built into his body, but most of them are offline right now because his Omni power is low, and he can’t remember how to activate them.

STATS:
ATK: 2
DEF: 1
SPD: 2
TEC: 5

STARTING PROFICIENCIES: Physical Strength (1000)

STARTING POWERS: Survival (2000), Master Super Jumping (800)

STARTING MOVES:

Orange Slicer (600)

Each of Grapefruit’s hands can generate a 3 foot sword made of orange light. Grapefruit is skilled enough with these blades to deflect most small projectiles, even bullets. He can form and deform these blades at will, but it takes a second for the blades to form or deform. He can't use any other special powers while generating/getting rid of his blades, so in that second he is essentially defenseless. The power of this move depends on which mode he uses.

  • Mode 1 - Single Blade: Grapefruit places both hands together to form a single blade. Its slicing potential is great, but Grapefruit cannot take full advantage of it due to his average strength; at most he could chop a log in half. This mode is also a bit slow; keeping up a constant assault of quick slashes is not feasible. The mode is more well-suited for making single powerful strikes.

  • Mode 2 - Twin Blades: Grapefruit forms two blades, one from each hand. Or, he can generate only one blade and leave his other hand free. The blade's slicing power is average, it would take multiple strikes for the swords to cut through a log. To make up for it, this mode is faster than the single blade mode. This makes this mode well-suited for keeping up a constant assault of quick slashes.

I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct. Yes.

Where did you find us? I found out about this forum when I read a story about someone's their positive experience with the Omniverse.

  Another City, Another trip
Posted by: Marcus Wright - 12-14-2017, 05:59 PM - Forum: Coruscant - Replies (3)

The human terminator sighed as he looked at the artifact one last time, he figured someone should hold onto it until they made it to Coruscant and the new place.

The Quinjet was eerily quiet and awkward until Marcus eyed Moon Knight and the leader of the Avengers stared back, looking out at a window.

“So, Marcus, you think you can lead us into Coruscant?”

The terminator sighed and crossed his arms “Coruscant? Talk about a long time since I’ve been there last. Also, the first time Skynet entered the Omniverse.”

He could feel his hands ball into a fist as he bit his tongue “So much shit to worry about.”

Marcus’s cold frown on his face turned, pointing at a portal leading out of the Vasty Deep. “Coruscant's portal is nearby.”

He pointed to a Omniverse map and nodded.

“I’ve been there before.”

It was then the giant metal jet passed through the Vasty deeps portal as the familiar site of the the buildings made many of the Avengers turn toward the city below.

All might bent down and pointed down at the crowd of stormtroopers around two primes.

“There might be a problem below.”

Moon Knight turned and looked out the front

“What’s going on, All might?”

Ratione and his partner looked below and answered “Either two primes got on the wrong side of the empire or vise versa.”

Marcus pushed his way to the back of the plane as he gritted his teeth.

Blair sighed, looking a bit annoyed. “This might interfere with the landing plans.” She turned to Frenchie “We’ll have to plan another landing route unless we want stormtroopers on us just for being in the area.”

Frenchie kept eying the situation outside.

“Deux nombres premiers sont entourés ci-dessous et les stormtroopers grouillent comme une meute d'abeilles.”

Blair sighed “English please, Frenchie.”

Frenchie took a breath and nodded “What i meant to say is we have a complicated landing pattern. Marc, we will take care of the Quinjet.”

Moon Knight nodded and issued commands “Alright, Avengers. We cannot do this lightly, and we might run into a hostile situation here. Don’t engage the stormtroopers unless they threaten you.

The calmer of the Avengers looked out the window again and sighed, taking a deep breath “From closer view, these two appear to be attacked by citizens but white stormtroopers seem to be investigating the situation.

Marcus eyed the other, frowning "These two didn't do anything, would the stormtroopers listen to reason?" “Didn’t we just stop a prison riot? The stormtroopers should be thanking us personally for helping them.

Moon Knight turned and sighed “Easy, Marcus. Not every stormtrooper is going to know the Avengers did things for them when things go right.”

Marcus crossed his arms, raising a eyebrow “Not every stormtrooper I met seemed to like me in the first place when I made it to Coruscant, even though Skynet planted itself in a local arcade.”

Marcus placed a hand against the jet's interior "In fact, I know Skynet is loving the fact it's swimming at the bottom of the ocean." He squeezed his forehead and sighed "Let's just agree to disagree, Moon Knight. Our first experiences with stormtroopers don't always match up to what we did for these guys.

Marc looked up at Marcus and placed a hand on his shoulder “We are the Avengers, we had our share of disappointments and achievements. You of all, should know this, Marcus.

The terminator man nods, eyeing Marc with his arms crossed “I love Sentimental talks, Moon Knight, but let’s focus on the mission at hand. Perhaps there’s time to talk later.

He sighed and his fist balled up a bit “Or that would be what Captain America would say in all of this.”

He’d be disappointed he lost Captain America’s most prized possession, the shield to Hydra of all people.

Marcus turned to Marc, seeing how disappointed he looked, a dramatic wind blowing through each of their hair “We’ll get that shield back, I promise.”
Just then a brief shadow of the Avengers showed up, memories of the past, present and future to come.

  Pobody's Nerfect
Posted by: Cell - 12-13-2017, 03:33 AM - Forum: The Nexus - No Replies

“I am PERFECT!”

Cell collapsed to the floor, the slap echoing into the distance. His last words rang in his head like fading bells. His mind wrestled with an invisible opponent, a mental fever that pinned him down and stopped his frantic thrashing. Flashes of light and images punctured his thoughts. The overwhelming cascade of ki that ground his body into atoms and its ear-splitting crackling surrounded him like a murderous tunnel. His mind’s eye disconnected from his head and travelled through the beam’s centre and towards its source. A wounded and bleeding child, his violet gi torn, his golden hair quivering, held a single hand forward. Blue energy poured out of his palm.

The look of hatred in that boy’s eyes reflected Cell’s own.

The bio-android jolted upright and leapt to his feet. A golden blanket of flames burst around his body as he heightened the flow of ki within himself. He crashed the base of his palms together and drew his cupped hands to his side. Ki drained into the space between, coalescing in yellow ambience.

The battle wasn’t over yet! He was Perfect Cell! No mere child, son of Goku or not, would stand in his way! His design was flawless and he would prove it by snuffing out this little upstart!

“Ka ... me ... ha ... me ... huh?”

Cell’s eyes widened. The energy pooled in his hands dissipated.

“What ... what is this?”

He blinked at his hands. They were grey only moments earlier but now they were green. His voice no longer sounded throaty and sophisticated; instead his words came out raspy. He thrashed about a tail that had, he thought, retracted back into his body, its needle-like tip scratching the glowing ground.

“No! No this can’t be!” he shouted.

Had he regressed forms? Had his perfect state been ripped away from him? Had Gohan’s Kamehameha really been that powerful? His cells were supposed to retain a memory of his ultimate potential once he reached it. It even remained after Android 18 was kicked out of his body. How could this be?

Cell spun about, his feverish terror abating long enough for him to notice his new surroundings. The blue sky and rocky plateau he battled on had vanished and had been replaced by a pearlescent eternity stretching out in all directions. A fountain sprayed water nearby. Taking only passing recognition of the new landscape, he instead focused on the only object within visual distance.

The bio-android dashed to the basin’s edge, his fingers gripping it tightly as he bent over and stared at his reflection. The cascading water relentlessly blurred the surface, his features twisting and moving in the ripples, but it was clear enough to see his face.

Cell lifted a shaking hand to his mouth. The humanoid chin and lips that decorated his chiselled jaw in his perfect form had been defaced with an oblong orange beak. His eyes, the pupils tall and slitted, stared back in horror, hot lead smouldering in the pit of his abdomen. The muscular physique had melted away to reveal a lithe, lean form ideal for swift and speedy manoeuvres but lacking the raw power he once wielded.

“No!” he rasped, clenching his cat eyes shut. “No! I can’t be like this! Not again! I was perfect!”

Cell dropped to his knees, the strength leaking from his legs, his forehead smacking the edge of the fountain. There he rested, his mind grappling with his new reality. Over and over he questioned his circumstances. How could this be? Why am I back in my imperfect form? Who is responsible for this? Where the hell am I?

The first realistic explanation slapped him in the face and he jerked his head up. “No! I’m not dead, am I?”

Cell stood to his feet and looked over his body as if he would notice a clear sign of his demise. His last memory was of his titanic energy struggle with the half saiyan brat, having almost overwhelmed him, until Vegeta fired a cheap shot into his back. The resulting distraction gave Gohan enough time to rally his strength and press through Cell’s attack. Yep, this must be it. The gods stripped me of my perfection and cast me into an empty void to suffer without end.

“Wait!” Cell said and peered back into the fountain’s pool of water. His genetic memories of Goku told him he would possess a specific item if he had kicked the bucket, as the saiyan had visited the afterlife once before. He squinted at his reflection, scouring the image for a golden halo above his head. There was no such item, no glow returned in the rippling water.

“So ... I’m not dead?” Then if he was still alive, where was he and what happened to him? “The perpetrator of this heinous act will wish they were never born!”

Cell tore away from the fountain and surveyed the bleak landscape, contemplating his next move. Rage built inside him, ordering him to action despite a lack of a plan. No, he thought. I am not perfect any longer. I must take things slowly until I can rectify my predicament. He calmed his anger, at least as much as he could, and tried to plot a course forward.

He needed more information. If he no longer had his perfect form, it could be that Androids 17 and 18 had been ripped from him and existed somewhere else. If so, he had to find them and reabsorb them. If not, he had to find a way back to Earth and back to his siblings. Either way would work. If he had travelled back in time to make his ultimate wish come true, he would find a way here as well.

Whatever the outcome, he had to stay low and off the radar. He wasn’t about to tangle with someone more powerful than him before he could attain perfection again. A fleeting thought raced through his mind. Who was powerful enough to force me back to my base form AND without me knowing? The thought sent a shiver from the top of his spine to the tip of his tail. He kept the concept in mind, but chose not to dwell on it. Not until he knew more.

Grey smudges blemished the unbroken white on the horizon. Cell couldn’t identify what they were, but other than the fountain, they were the only other objects that distinguished themselves from their surroundings. Pleased to find that his affinity with ki was not blocked, Cell lifted himself into the air and flew like a bullet over the bleak white plains, hoping to discover something new ... or at least a snack.

  Omnitube: Interview with Kuzuru
Posted by: Kuzuru - 12-12-2017, 10:01 PM - Forum: Dataverse Messageboards - No Replies

[float=left][Image: KQMxUsD.png][/float][float=right][Image: KQMxUsD.png][/float]
[spoiler]
Without any fanfare or intro screens the video opens to a well-lit room. Taking up one half of the screen’s real-estate is a young woman sitting with her legs crossed on a comfortable looking chair. The lady is young, and has a perkiness that one would associate with a college freshman. Her black hair is pulled back into a tight bun and she is wearing a cream colored jacket. A million dollar smile is painted across her lips. In her thin fingers she hold a long black microphone. Sitting across from her in a similar chair is the leader of The Ashen Blades, Kuzuru. A black hoodie, lined with fur, covered his body. His demeanor was much more relaxed than that of his companion and he carried a sense of almost arrogant confidence.

“Hello Omniverse,” the girl spoke into the microphone, “I am Suzy Salazar and we’re here with the leader of the mercenary group, ‘The Ashen Blades’ to bring you a special news report.”

Kuzuru waved and offered his most sincere smile. A tagline appeared on screen displaying the man’s name.

“So my sources tell me that you and your companions were instrumental to the defeat of Nebula’s forces within The Ashen Steppes,” she said with a pristine smile on her face, “tell me about the battle with the terrorist group.”

“Well Suzy, I just want to start off by saying that while we did most of the heavy lifting, I have to give credit to the few brave primes that came to assist us,” Kuzuru said, “I never did get their names, but if you’re watching thank you for helping me protect my homeland, now the battle itself was quite a violent one, as I’m sure you know the Koopas were delivered a devastating blow and chose to retreat underground against the overwhelming forces of Nebula, I can’t blame them, but it did pitch the battle in favor of Nebula.”

“That must have been a harrowing experience, how did you manage to survive?”

Kuzuru chuckled and responded, “well, fortunately most of my fellow Blades are primes so that gave us an edge against the overwhelming numbers of Nebula, but eventually we were cornered by the leader of Nebula’s forces in that area, a particularly nasty darkloid.”

Images of the Blades as well as three other primes flashed across the screen. They were standing inside Wendy Garrison, surrounded by a massive force of darklings. At the center stood a draconian sorcerer, covered from head to toe in the telltale signs of darkchip abuse. He tore open a portal into Nebula space. He gave them an ultimatum saying that they could stay and be slain or follow him into the portal and live forever. Without another word the darkloid dove into the portal, leaving the primes to their own devices. The video cut back to the reporter and Kuzuru.

“So you followed him?” Suzy asked, paused, and added another jab, “even though he said that your powers would belong to Nebula if you followed?”

Kuzuru shrugged, “we didn’t have much of a choice Ms. Salazar, sure we probably could’ve fought our way through the darklings, but then the proverbial serpent’s head would have been alive and well, I had to make a tough call and figured that following him was the best option for the future of the verse.”

“I see,” she said, “so what happened in Nebula Space?”

“Well we were transported to some kinda shadow realm version of the Steppes, real doom and gloom kind of thing, the portal scattered us across the base of this volcano and we had to make our way to the top,” he said, making motions with his hand to simulate the shape of a volcano, “eventually we persevere and made it to the summit where the Darkloid was waiting for us, the footage from this point out is a bit damaged, probably due to the aberrant nature of Nebula Space itself, but we can play some of the highlights if you don’t mind.”

Suzy Salazar flashed her trademarked grin and responded, “no not at all.”

Video of the prime’s battle with the Darkloid played across the screen. The footage was full of glitchy artifacts and in some places it was hard to decipher exactly what was happening. Still the entire battle was condensed down to a few minutes of the best clips, culminating with the Darkloid transforming into a vicious dragon. As the primes fought the beast Kuzuru, clad with striking purple wings, flew high above the battlefield. His entire body crackled with energy and in one fell swoop he spiraled straight into the creature’s gullet. An explosion rocked inside the creature’s stomach and it stumbled backwards. The video cuts back to Suzy and Kuzuru.

“Wow, so you sacrificed yourself to defeat the Darkloid?” Suzy asked, practically on the edge of her seat.

Kuzuru laughed, “ah yeah, you see the thing was on the backfoot already, but we were so beat down and wore out from the constant fighting that I knew if I didn’t act some of us weren’t going to be coming back home, it was a bit drastic, but I figured it was my duty to protect my companions so I was more than willing to trade my life for the future of the verse.”

“How noble of you,” Suzy commented.

“Yeah, well, I don’t like to take all the credit, The Ashen Blades are a team and I’m proud of them,” Kuzuru said, “as long as we’re around The Steppes are safe from Nebula and anyone else that seeks to threaten this verse.”

Suzy nodded and turned to the camera, “well I’m sure the Omniverse as a whole thanks you and your fellow mercenaries for their selfless acts, but unfortunately we’re out of time for today, thank you for having me Kuzuru.”

“Thanks for taking the time to get our side of the story,” he said, paused, and added, “and thanks for letting us put this interview up on our channel.”

The video faded to black and in its place a sigil appeared for several seconds as the video came to a close.
