Ashelin remained silent for what seemed for a short time before turning back at Rick "Don't worry, I just needed a short time, but I'm fine now."
The ride through the Nexus seemed extremely uneventful except for Ashelin, who winced at the whiteness of the verse and Rick playing it cool. After passing the fountain, they moved to the Endless Dunes. The main verse where Ashelin's mission was and where Rick would be taking them.
As soon as they crossed the portal into said dunes, or Wastelands, as Ashelin insisted on calling them, they began to feel the rush of warm air blow both of their hair back.

What sort of advertisement materials do we have? I know someone mentioned working on a flyer before and I might be going to an event with lots of writers, so if we have something like that, I wouldn't mind printing and passing it out. Just checking.

CHARACTER NAME: Eternity Larva
CHARACTER SOURCE: Touhou Project
CHARACTER HISTORY: Eternity will be grabbed a month after her latest appearance in the 10th chapter of Visionary Fairies in Shrine. The full history is provided in spoilers:
Eternity Larva is a butterfly fairy who represents metamorphosis. As all fairies are immortal manifestations of nature’s aspects, she is essentially the embodiment of a butterfly’s life cycle. While others of her kind pursue different hobbies like pranking, she stands out for being somewhat calm. This also means she doesn’t get into much conflict, and each passing day is almost certainly the same routine.
Eternity lives in Gensokyo, though nobody’s really sure if she's a native of the fantastic land, or if she "passed into fantasy" like others have. When spring arrives, she spends her free time wandering the Garden of the Sun, which is really just a fancy name for a big field of sunflowers. The place is packed with territorial sunflower fairies, so colorful danmaku duels are a common sight. When looking for fun, she may decide to join in the ruckus, though simply hanging out with friends, like the ice fairy Cirno, isn’t out of the question. She’s aware of the more famous resident and has actually seen her from afar. However, anyone who senses her ominous aura and immense strength would know better than to get close.
By late fall, she migrates to her underground hideout in the Forest of Magic. This is because she hates the cold, and butterfly fairies like her have nothing to do in winter anyway. Inside there, she can be seen sitting around, or simply sleeping the cold snow away.
One midsummer day, an obscure, mysterious goddess named Matara decided to stir things up in Gensokyo. She tasked her servants, Satono and Mai, with bringing out the full potential of the fantastic land’s residents. However, fairies aren't exactly the most “mentally prepared” for being overwhelmed with energy, so they went berserk and started throwing off the balance of nature. When one place was covered in a relentless blizzard, another was brimming with cherry blossom petals. This was the beginning of the Four Seasons incident.
Eternity was no exception, being a fairy herself. It was very exciting to suddenly have such unbelievable power, to the point that she often lashed out at anyone she saw. Eventually, her rampage was halted after confronting four powerful individuals who wielded the very seasons. Even the shrine maiden Reimu, who beats down gods for a living, noted that fairies weren’t this strong, and made the connection to the out-of-control seasons.
The season-wielders eventually found a strange new place, the Land of Backdoors. After being intercepted by Matara’s servants, the crazy backup dancers, the four people challenged the secret goddess to battle (for their own personal reasons, of course) However, their powers were stolen by Matara, and were kicked out of her dimension not long after.
While Cirno, the summer-wielding ice fairy, was talking to Eternity about her long journey of proving herself the strongest in the land, she noticed a door on Eternity’s back which was bringing out her immense power. Out of curiosity, she entered the door only to find herself in the Land of Backdoors yet again. Cirno now wielded the power of doyou, the intermediary “fifth” season. After joining forces with the season-wielders who found their own way to collect this power, they were finally able to take down Matara as absorbing this fifth season was out of the goddess’s domain. The incident then quietly came to a close as the seasons returned to their normal pace.
Not much happened after that. She managed to befriend a fairy from hell and, learning from the recent incident, showed her newfound ability to control unstable lifeforce. However, as spring was finally about to arrive, she woke up not in her home, but in a strange void. That was her first confrontation with the being known as Omni.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
![[Image: PqZFg1r.jpg]](https://i.imgur.com/PqZFg1r.jpg)
Eternity Larva appears as a girl who is quite young. Her height only reaches about 4 feet. She has short turquoise hair crowned with leaves, and light caramel eyes. A prominent feature is her yellow osmeterium: a large, flexible two-pronged “antenna” that protrudes from her hair. She has butterfly wings with a wingspan similar to her height, with mostly yellow scales and a mix of brilliant blue and purple patches near the end. They’re more like accessories, though; breaking them wouldn’t hurt or impair her, and they seem to regenerate holes and tears irrespective of her actual body. Lepidopterists will say she resembles a swallowtail butterfly.
Eternity wears a black shirt with short sleeves resembling her wings, and blue scales running down the left side. Big leaves obscure the bottom half of her shirt, an allusion to the leaf-like chrysalis of a butterfly. She wears a green skirt with two shaky black lines and a line of white spots, resembling an Asian swallowtail caterpillar. Other than that, she wears nothing on her arms or feet.
STATS:
ATK: 2
DEF: 2
SPD: 3
TEC: 3
STARTING PROFICIENCIES: Ranged Proficiency (1000)
STARTING POWERS: Flight (1800), Super Speed (1000)
STARTING MOVES:
Danmaku Scales (300), requires Ranged Proficiency
After a charging period of 2 seconds at half speed or below, 6 scale shards in 3 symmetrical pairs emerge one after another from Eternity’s wings, in the span of one second. The volley first shoots wide at her target, narrowing until the last pair is directly aimed. A glowing, vibrant green energy field covers each shard, measuring 50cm in length by 25cm in width. On contact, the field discharges in the form of kinetic energy, acting similarly to a punch with a force appropriate for her ATK and charging period. Each projectile can travel 30 meters in 3 seconds before petering out, reverting back into benign scales.
This move has a high short-term drain and the strain will begin to affect Eternity starting with 3 sustained uses, at which point she’ll have to wait a few seconds for it to subside. However, the long-term drain is fairly light and can be used many times in a single battle before really tiring her out.
Butterfly Sign “Minute Scales” (600), Tier 1 Super Utility
A spell card which imbues Eternity with great magical energy, allowing her to briefly bypass her natural limits. Minute Scales temporarily negates the charging period and energy drain of Danmaku Scales, only being limited by its 1 second execution time. This allows Eternity to use that particular move very rapidly in a 10-second period. When the trance ends, however, she is afflicted with high long-term drain that leaves her out of breath, regardless of her actions within that period.
Basic Life-force Control (0), Fodder Move
Thanks to the time she went berserk, Eternity knows a thing or two about manipulating life-force. She wields a very limited ability to control nearby unstable sources of life energy, including but not limited to withering life, forest miasma, and fires of life-force. She can then scatter it around, which others can feel as a warm, “summer-like” aura. Any surrounding plant life would begin to grow rapidly, even regrowing missing leaves. However, Eternity can’t manipulate or affect thicker pools of life-force like people, healthy animals or plants, unless they shape it into something she can use. It also can’t be used in the middle of combat, as it requires her to be fairly calm to use the ability.
I confirm that I have read and agreed to the Rules of Conduct. Mhmm.
Where did you find us?

How Many Alt Forms Are There?
Or, more specifically, how many are there for each amount of stat upgrades, and how much OM would it cost to get all of them?
Let's start with the basic 10 stats. How many combinations are there? We've got 5/5/0/0, 5/4/1/0, 5/4/0/1, ... , 0/0/5/5. But, counting all of those would take forever (well... not forever, probably like 10 minutes or so, maybe).
To answer that question, I am going to answer an equivalent question. How many ways are there to put 10 balls into 4 boxes, so that no box has more than 5 balls? We can represent each combination like this: **|***|***|**, *****|**|***|, and so on. With the |s being the walls between the boxes, and the *s being the balls. These correspond directly to the statlines, so *|*|****|**** is 1/1/4/4, and *****|*****|| is 5/5/0/0, and ***|**|**|*** is 3/2/2/3, etc.. So, we just need to find the number of arrangements of 10 *s and 3 |s.
The number of ways to arrange 13 (10+3) distinct objects is 13! (13 factorial, 13 x 12 x 11 x ... x 1). But since 10 of these objects are identical, for each arrangement of *s we actually want, there would be 10! ways to do it if they were unidentical. The same goes for the |s, but with 3!. So, we have 13! / (10! x 3!) arrangements, including the illegal statlines. Which comes to 286 statlines.
To discount the illegal statlines, we just need to count how many there are:
With 6 in one stat, the other 3 stats would look like **|*|* (2/1/1), ||**** (0/0/4), **||** (2/0/2), and so on. Essentially, there are 6! / (4! x 2!) lines with 6 in the first stats. But, as there are 4 stats, we need to multiply that by 4, which gives 60 (4 x 15) illegal statlines.
For 7, similarly, we have (4 x 5!) / (3! x 2!) = 40 (4 x 10) illegal statlines.
For 8, there are (4 x 4!) / (2! x 2!) = 24 (4 x 6).
For 9, there are (4 x 3!) / (1! x 2!) = 12 (4 x 3).
For 10 in one stat, there are trivially 4 (4 x 1) combinations.
So, there are 286 - (60 + 40 + 24 + 12 + 4) = 146 statlines. Which would come to 290k OM (subtract 1 since you start with one, then multiply by 2000).
But that's only with 10 stats. What about with more? Let's generalise it.
If someone has X stats, where X is an integer greater than or equal to 2, then:
They have (X+3)! / (X! x 3!) possible statlines if we allow illegal ones (as there are X *s and 3 |s).
If X is even, there are X(X+2)(X+4)/12 illegal statlines. So, there are [(X+3)! / (X! x 3!)] - [X(X+2)(X+4)/12] many statlines for an even value of X. Which simplifies to (X+2)(X(X+4)+6)/12, or (X+2)(X^2+4X+6)/12.
Proof/explanation/rambling:
With X in one stat, there's only one possibility for what the other stats can be (as they're all 0).
With X-1 in one stat, there are 3 combinations for the other stats (1/0/0, 0/1/0, 0/0/1).
And the sequence continues... 4 x (1 + 3 + 6 + 10 + 15 + ...) until there are X/2 terms. (As there is between X/2 + 1 and X in one stat. Subtracting X/2 from both those numbers shows there are X/2 terms.)
So, we've just gotta prove what each term is, and what it sums to.
Writing them back in the factorial forms (i.e. the initial representation for the number of ways to count the *s and |s) gives:
4 x (1 + 3!/(1! x 2!) + 4!/(2! x 2!) + 5!/(3! x 2!) + ... + (r+1)!/((r-1)! x 2!) + ... + (X/2+1)!/((X/2-1)! x 2!)). (r represents a general term in the sum)
We can simplify (r+1)!/((r-1)! x 2!) to be (r x (r+1))/2, or just (r^2 + r)/2. (Notably, with r = 1, this expression is 1.)
So, we just need to find the sum of all the square numbers from 1 to (X/2)^2, add on the sum of all the numbers between 1 and X/2 (inclusive), then divide that total by 2.
If you're following this proof so far, you'll probably know that the sum of all numbers between 1 and n (inclusive) is n(n+1)/2. And that the sum of the first n square numbers (starting from 1) is n(n+1)(2n+1)/6. I'm not going to prove those results because I'm lazy. So, to find our total, we just have to add them together, divide by 2, and substitute in n = X/2. Which gives X(X+2)(X+4)/48. Then we have to multiply by 4 (there are 4 stats, so there are 4 times as many ways for the statline to be illegal). This gives X(X+2)(X+4)/12.
Substituting in X = 10 gives 140 = 60 + 40 + 24 + 12 + 4, as requires.
Technically, this proof isn't really rigorous. It's more of a derivation than anything. But, eh, you probably just wanna see big numbers.
For an odd X, there are [(X+3)! / (X! x 3!)] - (X+1)(X+3)(X+5)/12 possible statlines. This simplifies nicely to: (X-1)(X+1)(X+3)/12
Proof/explanation/rambling:
With an odd X, there are (X+1)/2 terms in the sequence, rather than X/2. Since the illegal stat can be between X/2 + 0.5 and X - the ceiling of X/2 (X/2 rounded up to the next integer) to X. Example: for X = 11, we have the possibility of the illegal stat being 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, or 11. Which would give 4 x (1 + 3 + 6 + ... + 21) illegal statlines.
So, we can just take this from before (X(X+2)(X+4)/12)and just replace each X with X + 1, and then simplify. So there are (X+1)(X+3)(X+5)/12 illegal statlines when X is odd.
And here's a table of the numbers (yeah, I know no one is gonna get 40 stats with an alt form, but there's still powerups and shiz):
number of stat points: number of valid statlines
0: 1
1: 0
2: 6
3: 4
4: 19
5: 16
6: 44
7: 40
8: 85
9: 80
10: 146
11: 140
12: 231
13: 224
14: 344
15: 336
16: 489
17: 480
18: 670
19: 660
20: 891
21: 880
22: 1156
23: 1144
24: 1469
25: 1456
26: 1834
27: 1820
28: 2255
29: 2240
30: 2736
31: 2720
32: 3281
33: 3264
34: 3894
35: 3876
36: 4579
37: 4560
38: 5340
39: 5320
40: 6181
41: 6160
Notably, odd numbers have less combinations than the even number before them. This is because, while there are more possible stat combinations, a larger proportion of them are illegal. When getting a stat increase to boost you to an even number of stat points, you can put it in any stat. When getting one to boost you to an odd total, you cannot (e.g. with 5/5/0/0, you can't put your next stat point into ATK or DEF).
...
Pretty sure this is probably all correct. Maybe. Idk. It seemed logical when I wrote it by hand. So, here ya go. If you want to make this a table in excel, you can use:
Code: =IF(ISEVEN(B3),(B3+2)*(B3^2+4*B3+6)/12,(B3-1)*(B3+1)*(B3+3)/12)
But replace B3 with whatever cell you want.
Ohohohoho Good day I say.
Yes it is true, I have thought this through. I am the doctor the one that you need. But do not bother me if you just want to plant your seed. For the entertainment.... that which I seek.... is the kind that separates the strong from the meek.
A little about me, I am as far from plain as can be.
Though a little short, I can decimate a fort....
Looking for some to test the limits of my might... If that is you, I shall lend you my strength for a fight.
I have guarded three gods and kept them from death, I did so without quickening my breath...
So if that is you, and you need a doctor or guard, message me here, It isn't that hard.

Character name: Handsome Jack
Character source: Borderlands Series
Character history:
Hi! Handsome Jack here! President of the Hyperion Corporation, Hero to Pandora, Destroyer of the Destroyer, voted Sexiest Fucker in the Universe eight years running... you know, I could go on, but I won't. But I could.
I bet you're thinking to yourself: "Oh man! That Handsome Jack is so accomplished, I bet he has a killer backstory." And you'd be right. But, I'm a busy man and I don't have time to lay down the whole epic saga down for you, so we're gonna run through the cliffnotes, alright? Don't worry, my autobiography will be dropping at the end of the year, and you can read all about your favorite guy for only 500 Buckerinos. A steal, I know.
So, here we go. Dad died when when I was a wee lad, and Mom decided she'd rather get high and fuck around then raise a little scamp, so she pawned me off with Gramma. Now this chick, don't get me wrong I love her to death, but she was a grade-A bitch. That's why I had her killed. Not back then, later on. Try to keep up. Anywho, I get a little older and a little wiser and land this sweet gig working for Hyperion. Yep, you're right to be surprised. Once upon a time, I was just like all you losers. But I had bigger plans.
You know what? Let's skip ahead. Some stuff happens, I kill my boss, and now I'm the big cheese. I open the Vault and beat the Destroyer, enriching Pandora with all the Eridium you could ever want. But, I hear there's an even better Vault, a bit deeper in the planet. Now, I know I gotta get there first. Can't have no lousy bandits trying to grab the weapon before me, right? Well, good thing for me, bandits and Vault Hunters are a bunch of idiots. I'm killing em off left and right here, folks. Even get them to expose their little "Sanctuary" to me. Man, it's easy to outsmart these chumps.
But then they go and make me real mad. See, I can forgive idiocy. Post-mortem, but still. But kill my little girl? My Angel? Oh, now you done fucked up. I kill off one of the child-murderers and grab their precious Siren to charge up my Vault key, but it ain't enough. They need to suffer like I suffered. I needed to make them rue the day they decided to murder my Angel. They were gonna suffer... just as soon as I found the Warrior.
And then, I did find it. The Vault of the Warrior. God, it was glorious. With the Warrior's power, I coulda made Pandora into a paradise. No more bandits. No more suffering. Just perfect. But, just as I'm about to open the bad boy up, here come the Vault Hunters to fuck up my day even more. Oh, we have ourselves an epic battle, and I'm just about to kill them all good with the Warrior, when I'm suddenly whisked away by some whiter-than-mayonnaise kid talking about "Omniverse" this and "Anything you want" that. Bitch! I HAD what I wanted! Fuck you!
And that's about the short and long of it, folks. Now, I'm sure your little bandit pals are gonna tell you I'm "embellishing the truth" on some of this, but really? They don't even know what "embellish" means. Handsome Jack, out!

"I never meant to cause you any sorrow..."
Jack's custom Submachine Gun, complete with Corrosive modification. It possesses an extremely high-rate of fire, but while it has a range of about 100 meters, it's far too inaccurate to use beyond 20 meters and it's damage is subpar at best. The Acid coating each round of its ammunition allows Acid Pain to penetrate barriers and shields less than a meter thick (other than Super Defenses), dealing its normal damage to targets beyond them. Its magazine boasts an impressive 50 round capacity, which it can empty in about 10 seconds of sustained fire, and it takes about 3 seconds for Jack to reload after expending the last round. Like all of his weapons, Jack can summon Acid Pain to his hand in about 1 second, and it likewise vanishes about 5 seconds after leaving his grip. Both the appearance and disappearance is accompanied by a strange digitizing of the air where it will appear or disappear.
Finger-Bang; Ranged: (300)

"Nothing like a good one."
Jack's custom semi-automatic Pistol. This beauty sports a 500 meter range, though it's only reasonably accurate within 100 meters, and deals an average amount of damage to anything it hits. As a semi-automatic, it fires as quickly as Jack can pull the trigger, or about twice every second or so. It possesses a fair amount of ammunition at 13 rounds, and it takes about 2 seconds to reload after expending the last round. Like all of his weapons, Jack can summon Finger-Bang to his hand in about 1 second, and it likewise vanishes about 5 seconds after leaving his grip. Both the appearance and disappearance is accompanied by a strange digitizing of the air where it will appear or disappear.

"Alright, you primitive screw-heads..."
Jack's custom semi-automatic Shotgun, complete with Explosive modification. Though it only has a 5 meter range, its area of effect is a 90 degree cone and each of the 50 pellets it fires is a small explosive with a .5 meter radius. At point-blank range, the damage this baby can dish out is massive, though too close and Jack risks exposing himself to the damage as well. At the maximum range, the pellets explode whether they've contacted an obstacle or not, though at this spread the damage is significantly lessened. The Nukestick may be semi-automatic, but the recoil means it can only be fired about once every two seconds. It's magazine is a paltry 6 rounds, and it takes about 4 seconds to reload after expending the last round. Like all of his weapons, Jack can summon The Nukestick to his hand in about 1 second, and it likewise vanishes about 5 seconds after leaving his grip. Both the appearance and disappearance is accompanied by a strange digitizing of the air where it will appear or disappear.
Thot Potato; Ranged, Area, Remote Control: (300)
![[Image: Grenade.png]](http://www.cytokineindustries.com/chevereto/images/2018/04/05/Grenade.png)
"Better have protection..."
Jack's custom grenades. Unlike normal grenades, which are thrown at their targets, these grenades are controlled via a device mounted on Jack's wrist. Using a series of small thrusters, Thot Potatoes can be directed to a target within 60 meters of Jack; though, if he's unable to control it for whatever reason, they simply continue on in the last direction he entered. Each of the 4 grenades Jack carries has a 10 second fuse, with 60 meters being the maximum distance they can reach within that time-frame, and deal substantial damage to targets caught in their 2.5 meter radius explosion. Like all of his weapons, Jack can summon Thot Potatoes to his hand in about 1 second, and, if inactivated, they vanish 5 seconds after being released. Both the appearance and disappearance is accompanied by a strange digitizing of the air where it will appear or disappear. After using the 4 grenades Jack carries into a fight, he needs to spend time outside combat to summon more.
The Sequel; Ranged, Area, Materialize, Remote Control: (300)
![[Image: Holo-Projector.png]](http://www.cytokineindustries.com/chevereto/images/2018/04/05/Holo-Projector.png)
"The best thing about being me..."
A special device created by Jack which creates holographic dopplegangers of himself. It takes about 5 seconds to power up The Sequel, after which it will project up to 10 copies of Jack within a 10 meter radius. These duplicates look and sound like the actual Jack, and are controlled via a series of conductors embedded within his left hand. As they aren't physical copies, they're unable to interact with the environment like he would, and savvy combatants may notice small errors such as duplicates moving through obstacles or their weapons not actually firing anything. Jack cannot maintain The Sequel for extended periods of time, due to its energy drain, and they will abruptly disappear after about 30 seconds. It takes about 3 minutes for the battery within the device to recharge and allow its use again.

The gate leading from the Tangled Green to the Nexus pulsed, an indication that someone was accessing it from the other side. The area around the stone dais upon which the gate sat was unusually devoid of growth, stamped earth and small flat rocks embedded into it, as if the construct had once sat in the middle of a road or plaza only to remain untouched by the ravages of time that had reforested the rest of the area. A creature of sorts, more like a spirit, appeared out of the gate's customary swirling, and to soft tones of forgotten melodies it looked around.
![[Image: born_of_god_and_void___white_by_half_rose-db4wcbt.png]](https://t00.deviantart.net/3S_RaN1A5UQrvaHhPyvgf1rVsgU=/fit-in/700x350/filters:fixed_height(100,100):origin()/pre00/ea61/th/pre/i/2017/096/1/e/born_of_god_and_void___white_by_half_rose-db4wcbt.png)
It... it remembered this place. Floating over the dais, the spirit looked intently at a spot. It had met someone here, a long time ago. At first it was like dripping tar, the recollections emerging only reluctantly from their hideaway in the void, but soon they returned.
The sounds. The images. Meeting people, odd looking and shell-less as they were. The smells, which linked to that most important new experience.
Taste. Food.
Hunger.
The spirit froze, not longer moving, not even wobbling up and down in the air.
It trembled.
Collapsing in on itself like some stellar object at the end of its lifespan, the spirit became a tiny dot of void upon the air before suddenly...
![[Image: promo_03.png?w=640]](https://professionalmorondotcom.files.wordpress.com/2017/03/promo_03.png?w=640)
Before suddenly it was a spirit no more.
Looking at his surroundings, his white mask/helmet/skull/container wobbling quite cutely in the process, Little Ghost's mystification at this turn of events was quite clearly symbolized by the universal symbol floating above his head.

There is only blackness.
Luci screams, a long blood-curdling moan of despair. Her wail echos back mockingly.
Down in the darkest and deadest parts of Luci’s subconscious, where nobody can hear her, she screams until her throat is raw and cracking. The fearless gangster sniffles. She is crouched tightly in the fetal position, naked and cold. And dying.
Cautiously, with a shaking hand, Luci presses against her abdomen. She winces, and draws the hand back immediately. Although she cannot see in the darkness, she can feel the warm sticky wetness, and smell the metallic tang of her own blood. How long will it take, in this timeless abyss at the bottom of the Astral Realm, to die? How long before her last drop finally falls?
Ignoring the jolt of pain in her abdomen, Luci reaches her hand up above her head. She hits a rough stone ceiling almost instantly, and a wave of claustrophobia shakes her to the core, causing her to retch.
“Oh fuck,” she gasps pitifully, clutching her throbbing stomach.
‘Oh fuck,’ echoes back the waiting dark.
Luci sits against the rough stone wall until her head stops swimming, hugging her knees. She thinks. After some time, Luci tries to whistle, but cannot bring her cracked lips together, and her mouth is as dry as a desert.
She lets out a guttural bark of frustration, and listens carefully for the response.
‘Ah!’ confirms the void, the voice echoing into nothingness.
Luci sits in the dark for a long time, her eyes narrowed, burying down her primal nihilistic instincts begging her to end it all.
“Go,” Luci whispers finally.
‘Go,’ the void mocks softly.
Luci falls forward on her hands and knees, her abdomen sending a jolt of pain throughout her body. She sticks a hand out in front of her, tracing the rough stone walls of her pison. The stone is sharp enough to leave tiny cuts and scrapes on her hands, but the wounds heal instantly, leaving nothing but a sting. Eventually her hand finds only open space, and her fears are confirmed; it’s a tunnel, less than two feet high, maybe two feet wide.
Luci begins to crawl.
The tunnel curves steeply upwards. Still Luci crawls.
The stone is sharp, cutting into Luci’s legs and arms, the wounds healing as she goes. Still she crawls, dragging her protesting body inexorably up.
Her abdomen throbs, the pain at times overwhelming her and forcing her to stop. So Luci stops. Then she crawls again.
The crushing, suffocating darkness threatens strip her sanity down to is last screaming exposed nerve. Still, Luci crawls.
Above it all, drowning out all of her bodies other protests, is the thirst.
The maddening thirst that only those a second from death have known. A fire that starts in the chest and radiates outwards, vowing to burn it’s host to cinders as it explodes.
This verse may stretch her time, but Luci has entered the Astral Realm as she left Coruscant; on the brink of death, willing to give anything for one last sip of life giving water.
***
The years pass in darkness and pain, and still Luci crawls.
***
There is a new pain, familiar yet unfamiliar.
The creature in the tunnel cringes, rubbing its eyes. It burns, but the creature not flinch away. It remembers the pain.
It is light.
Like dim moonlight, filtered through a scanner darkly, but it burns the creature’s sensitive eyes like an Imperial flashbang.
The creature crawls on its arms, dragging it’s legs behind it with a trail of blood leaking from it’s abdomen.
The tunnel stops slanting upwards, straightening out. At the very end, the pale silvery light swirls, casting strange shadows on the walls.
For so long the creature has known only darkness, only pain, and above it all the burning thirst.
It crawls towards the light.
It’s eyes sting as it gets closer, but the creature only drags itself steadily further. As it gets closer, its sees the swirling light is coming from a pool in the floor of the tunnel.
The thirst burns.
The creature leans its head over the brim of the pool to drink, but then it catches sight of it's reflection.
A pale, scared girl with haunted eyes.
***
Luci pulls back from the brim of the pool. Her thirst screams at her, throbbing in every fiber, but she does not succumb.
She leans over the edge of the pool, and begins to cry.
She thinks of blood in the streets Tier Five, and a red tear drop falls into the pool.
She thinks of the artificial sunsets of Coruscant, and an orange tear drop falls into the pool.
She thinks of the laughter of the Deathblades, and a yellow tear drop falls into the pool.
She thinks of the forests of the Knife Ears, and a green tear drop falls into the pool.
She thinks of the determination of the Hufflepunks, and a blue tear drop falls into the pool.
She thinks of everyone she loves, and a violet tear drop falls into the pool.
And she thinks of everything that she’s lost, and she does not lose hope, and a gold tear drop falls into the pool.
After several ragged, agonizing breathes, the colors start to swirl. Slowly at first, then gaining speed, the teardrops whip around each other in a psychedelic frenzy. They meld, blend, and start to stretch.
A bubble of shimmering OM rises slowly from the pool and hovers over Luci. Inside it is a spraycan, rotating in it’s prismatic prism. Luci reaches out a trembling hand and pops the bubble, and the spraycan falls to the ground with a rattle.
Luci does not retrieve the can, but continues staring into the pool for a very long time.
She thinks of the Astral Realm, of the beauty of dreams from all the Omniverse woven into one glimmering tapestry, and a shining silver tear drop falls into the pool.
Luci watches it sink like a stone into the pool. She waits.
After a moment, a brightly glowing silver key floats up to the surface of the pool, and Luci snatches it.
She grabs her trusty magic spraycan, shaking it, making the little metal ball inside clink against the can, trying not to rush herself. With an aerosol hiss Luci paints the shaky outline of a door in light blue spray paint, with a blue handle and keyhole, above the pool.
Panting, Luci pushes the glowing silver key into the painted keyhole, and the outline of the door starts to glow a very bright blue.
Luci spends a moment sobbing tears of relief, and then she turns the handle and crawls out the door into a bright blue sky.
***
Luci is falling. The wind whips her hair, the sun warms her skin, the clouds tickle her face. She cannot see the ground below her, and still she falls, leaving a trail of blood on her wake.
Luci is very weak now.
She cannot keep her eyes open.

| March Monthly Accolade (Until April 14th) |

First, shoutout to Gilgamesh for covering me while I had personal stuff to deal with. If you missed it, he did the tallies for the Jan/Feb Monthly Accolades for me (which has just now been updated)
For those of you who are unaware, the Accolades involve nominating (and later, voting for) those who have outdone themselves in a particular area each month. For variety's sake, the categories for each month may be different.
You have until April 14th to nominate your choices. After that, we will proceed to the voting phase where members will vote among the two individuals with the most nominations for each category. An exception to this is if someone manages to get 5+ more nominations than the runner-up, in which case that person becomes the winner by default.
If you wish to participate, think of who stood out the most in a particular category this month and post your choice, along with a 2-3 sentence long explanation, in this thread. You are not barred from nominating your own characters/threads, nor do you have to fill out all the categories.
The winners will become this month's "Community Stars". And what benefits does this bring? Here is an explanation, courtesy of Alex:
(07-26-2016, 11:34 AM)Alex Wrote: As part of being voted as a Community Star/User of the Month (I use the terms interchangeable mainly because Community Star is less formal-sounding than User of the Month), these members gain a color (you must select this in your User CP) and access to the Omni-World R&D forum. In the past this was my pseudo-private forum, but it's now a place for myself and others to discuss the Omniverse. This is also the meeting place/brainstorming area for Story Aides and Story Guides, so for all intents and purposes, winning an accolade lets you become a pseudo-Story Aide for the duration of your reign.
Forum access is for the month following a member's selection as a Community Star, and this is irregardless of which 'accolade' you were selected for.
And the categories are:
‘Best’ Character – Which character has you engaged the most?
‘Best’ Writer – Which writer wowed you the most?
Most Helpful – A staffer or a member who gave you amazing feedback on a story or was simply there to help you sort out some of your problems.
Rising Star – Which up-and-coming member stands at the crème of the crop? (must have joined within the last month and a half OR have less than 8000 OM)
'Best' Story – What story did you find most riveting/entertaining?
'Best' NPC – What non-player character (can be a site, personal, or story NPC) entertained you the most (for whatever reason). Please note who the 'owner' of said NPC is, just in case I am not familiar with them.
Purple Ribbon - Consider this a bonus category for nominating someone who, while they may not be the best and have all the twitter followers, you believe deserves to be recognized for what they bring the the Omniverse. (The winner must be a DIFFERENT person than the last winner; the January/February winner was Warren Zimmer)
